From Chiyoda to Hakata Bay! Strong Energy will take place at the seaside in Fukuoka airing live on J-Network East 3 and White Canvas Global for all WCG fans out there. WCG Intercontinental Bunrakuken Torii will be defending his title against challenger Maro Shimizu. "Machine Gun" has defended the belt against two Kenka men and asked for more Kenka man backstage after his win in Chiyoda. Also on the line are the WCG World Tag Team titles when Pavel Vanzycha and Sterling Whitlock have to defend the belts against Ray Snow and Hirokichi Yoemon. Snow demanded a titleshot because he has beaten Sterling Whitlock during the S-1 Festival.

Regarding the upcoming Grand J-Challenge, OLLIE guest Tricolor Jr. is unable to compete due to visa issues. The mexican was not issued a proper visa in time to enter Japan, and has reluctantly been forced to withdraw from the tournament. In Tricolor's place will be Rogue Squad young gun Austin Smooth.

WCG Junior Heavyweight champion about the late change opponent: „I never faced Austin, so it's just like before a grab bag. I think Tricolor is way more experience than Smooth, he's Rogue Squad so i assume he may be a dirty fighter. But i'm more interested to see what he really has to offer. He didn't wrestle that much this year, it would be way more exciting if he left that faction.“ With three Junior Heavyweight tournament wins under his belt, The Awesome Kiyaru may the most experience fighter among the participants: „I'm pumped. It's been a long time since i participate in a tournament like this. I know i'm old but i'll show my opponent that i'm tough as nails.“

Bunrakuken Torii: „I think it's an interesting matchup. Shimizu is a good technician and in front of his hometown crowd. It's not easy to focus on Shimizu when another man is waiting for me you know? I know the moment will come when the referee is going to slap the mat for the three..“ Shimzu coughed slightly and said: „Torii, i know you're talking about Kato but i have to dissapoint him and you because i'm going to become the 4th Intercontinental Champion in front of my people and you and Kato-san have to play your little game without a belt on the line.“

Game World Update - July 2018

I think i said it before the S-1 that i'll do a quick "game world update" , nothing special graphicwise here. We started the save in Jan '16 with TEW 2016 and the update is from July '18 obviously with TEW 2020. The "gone" section is filled with wrestlers who competed in TEW 20 for me.

Gone

Rob Reynolds, Tetsuji Nishimoto, Matsudaira Morioka, Conner Threepwood, Stunner Sayuki, Jayson Van Pelt, Petr Novak, Kazuhiko Nakao & Ricky Turner

None of them was loyal, so it wasn't a shocker when guys like Reynolds, Nishimoto, Van Pelt or Novak got signed by BHOTWG. The industry leader in Japan boosted their roster heavily with talents from White & Golden Canvas Grappling and even from Pride Glory Honor Wrestling to all surprises.

Threepwood and Sayuki didn't do much the last months and were so far down the food chain, that i didn't extend their contracts. Matsudaira Morioka got a nice little story with his former partner Petr Novak at the end of TEW 16 and was reunited with Nagahama. He declined pretty fast in TEW '20 that's why i did not extend his contract.

Nakao and Turner, Ground Zer0 in my save, were a solid midcard tag team for me but i got the feeling that their ceiling has been reached with their unsuccessful title challenge. I let their contract expired.

Other Promotions

Burning Hammer - Just like i said before, they hired so many guys i couldn't count them. I don't know what they'll do with them because BHOTWG didn't even release any guys at all. Still the absolute number one in the land of the rising sun.

Pride Glory Honor - PGHW was heavily infected by Burning's raids all over Japan. They're still the #2 but the fall to medium cannot be handwaived by the company.

WLW - #3 in the country with an absolute megastar on top with Emerald Angel. He currenty holds the title for 888 days (!!) They're lucky i started with my old TEW 16 database otherwise they would be not that popular anymore or should i say WCG would be #3 and not #4 (we're fourth man!!)

GCG - The oldest promotion still active is not dead but they're only on small and way behind WCG. BHOTWG raided half their roster, they're with 3 million in debt and it looks like they'll move further down the packing order. EDIT NOTE: They sold their Dojo during July, gosh.

BCG - dead. Plain and simple. Funakoshi is working SAISHO at the moment

All the others are still active.

That's certainly a roster clearing. As for BHOTWG, I usually edit their ownership in the database to be less greedy and roster-holding, but also to cycle wrestlers out more by prioritizing youth over veterancy.

Is there anyone available from the old BCG roster that you'd like to pick up, besides SAISHO?

That's a good idea with BHOTWG. I think i'm going to do the same later, is that a possiblity with the in game editor? They're so annoying man, four guys who are not near the top and they still raid them.

Regarding BCG talent: I'm not sure there is one left who's that interesting. I got my eyes on one man, but that's it.

Let me check my version of TEW2020 when I get home from work and I'll let you know. I think you can edit that part of the character, but worst comes to worst you can make the game into a database and then edit that out of game. :p

All right, so it can definitely work.

Go to settings, go to In-Game Editor, go to workers and go to Tetsuzan Kaneko and Natsu Miyamae.

For Tetsuzan Kaneko, go to Business, go to Roster Size and drop it from Large to Medium. Maybe increase Turnover from Low to Medium.

For Natsu Miyamae, go to Business, go to Roster Size and drop it from Large to Medium. go to Hiring Preferences and swap him from High Primary Skills to No Bias. Maybe change Firing Preferences if you want him to fire expensive talent, fire aging talent or protect long term talents.

For me this is a shitty idea. Don't change anything in the in game editor, it's basically a cheating.

It is yes, but it's not realistic or common how bhotwg is acting should i say. I think the goal of many writers here is basically to be #1 company in the world, but thats not my goal. My goal is to have a realistic game world and to play a realistic puro company.

When i'm playing a save only for me (not diary writing) i wouldnt consider to use the in game editor at all.

@Hashasheen: Thanks for claryfing. I'll have an eye on bhotwg and how they interact the next in game weeks or months and maybe i'm going to change a bit.

Then why is it bothering you with the BHOTWG hiring a lot of guys? They are the Japanese equivalent of WWE, so it's normal that they hire a lot of wrestlers, even if they don't really need them.

To be fair, i think i can be annoyed at things no matter what right? And yea its bothering me when they grab over 10 worker in a span of a week. They shouldnt be a japanese wwe they should be like njpw for example.

I know that the game is based on maths, numbers and stuff and thats the way the simulation is working : the stronger will inevitably. Nevertheless i can deal with losing guys from down the card and i'm cool with them bidding for my bigger stars but i dont like it when GCG only have like 10 guys left on their roster bc they signed all non loyals. It should be a bit less nonsense signings imo.

Going to post the first night of Strong Energy later.

- The first Junior Heavyweight tournament is underway and we've got our first upset! Stealth Z caught WCG Junior Heavyweight Tag Team champion Roderick Remus with a Gannosuke Clutch to get the surprising three count. Not only Remus was eliminated, you can bet that Stealth Z has something up to his sleeves now. Remus' partner Mäkinen had his hands full with former Tag champ Golden Scorpion, however the blonde got the win with his Grapevine.

- Rogue Squad's Austin Smooth, the late replacement for Tricolor Jr., had a great showing against the current champion Japanese Phoenix. Smooth was no way near to win the match, but he showed great passion and fire. After the match Phoenix acknowledged Smooth's performance, the young american bowed down to Phoenix to the delight of the crowd. Smooth got a microfon after the match, exhausted as he was it wasn't easy to follow his words. Smooth thanked Phoenix for the match and said that he's going to train his skills overseas and eventually come back much stronger to face Phoenix again.

- His intention was to show everyone that he's still capable of beating younger opponents but The Awesome Kiyaru had no choice but to tap to Billy Robinson tonight. Both men had an huge amount respect for each other, there was no bad blood between them. The masked man got a great nearfall, his Kiyaru Effect was blocked by the englishman who countered the move into his Crucifix for the win. Afterwards Robinson raised Kiyaru's arm to the crowd.

- In an battle between two mask man, El Mítico had the upperhand over NYCW-guest Acid II with his Northern Lights Suplex. Both showed extraordinary highflying skills which resulted in applause for them. Mítico's striking skills let him to victory after a Lariat followed by his Suplex for three. Just two weeks before their next singles meeting, JOJI and X-Calibre clashed in round one of the Grand J-Challenge. "The Mean Green" and his flashy offense excited the fans and his key to get the victory over JOJI. After a Springboard 450 the match was over.

7. Grand J-Challenge Semi-Final: Joffy Laine def. Konrad Mäkinen (13m01s) with a Death Spiral [54]

8. Grand J-Challenge Semi-Final: Billy Robinson def. El Mítico Jr. (13m46s) with a Capital City Crucifix [60]

- After his surprising win over Roderick Remus, Stealth Z nearly managed to pin Remus buddy Mäkinen with the same move in the middle of the ring. However Mäkinen watched out and won the fight in the end. His opponent in the semi-finals was Joffy Laine. The Bounder had no respect for the current champion Japanese Phoenix, ripping his mask in two pieces and nearly broke Phoenix' neck after a Piledriver on the apron. Laine and Mäkinen had a classic heel versus heel match in which Laine had the upperhand with his Death Spiral.

- Robinson and Mítico met in the second semi-final and had a great match. This match was way different than the fight before, Mítico and Robinson were exhausted from the matches they had before. Surely Robinson was stronger on the mat than the mexican sensation, however Mítico tests his strength on the mat and could hang on with Billy. The masked man put his stamp on the match when he speeded things up a bit more. After failing to hit his Northern Lights Suplex, Robinson quickly adapted his Crucifix for the win.

- After the match Robinson called Joffy Laine out, who remained on the entrance ramp. The two had some beef on the RISE shows, you could see a tension between them.

- WCG IC champion „Machine Gun“ Torii pinned big Naozane Goto, who was left alone in crunchtime. Torii was impressed by Goto's fighting spirit, offered him a handshake after the match and Goto accepted with eye contact to his Kenka mates who were not keen.

- No big surprise today! WEXXV veteran Hiroshi Morisue made his way through the next round via Running Powerslam against xDREAM member Kiyotaka. The demonic Morisue made sure Kiyotaka will stay down, he's threw his opponent multiple times into the steel barricade to break Kiyotaka in half. "The Dog Of War" pinned Kamisaka after the has hit his Yanagita Crush building some momentum ahead of his second round match with xDREAM's Miyake. „It's about the Squad, that's the answer“

The meanest guys in the lockerroom, all Gaijin faction and a bunch of a*sholes – The Rogue Squad surprised many WCG fans when they helped „Bouncer“ Joffy Laine to win the Grand J-Challenge at Strong Energy. Former Intercontinental Champion & Rogue Squad leader Greg Gauge speaks about his squad and his ambition!

Q: First of all, why did you guys helped Joffy Laine?

GG: Why not? He's a perfect fit for our faction and he had all the eyes on him. He's ambitious, can drink a lot and is a mean dude. Perfect fit, just like i said.

Q: So it doesn't matter that he cheated even against Mäkinen?

GG: Why should it? Konrad isn't amused but it's for the greater good. We're not brothers, there are egos all over the place but we'll put it together to be the best around, most decorated faction and most fierced. It's not about Mäkinen or Laine, it's about the Squad.

Q: Speaking of egos.. What are your thoughts about Bulldozer challenging Okamoto at Wrestling Imperium II? You seemed not pleased that Razan challenged him instead of you.

GG: [...] It's about the Squad, that's the answer.

Q: What are your personal goals in White Canvas Grappling?

GG: Capturing the big belt, winning the S-1 and rule WCG from the top to the bottom.

Q: Diaz and Smooth are going on excursion, was that your call?

GG: Indeed. They're talented as f*ck but they need a special treatment, you know? They'll come back better, stronger and more experienced to strengthen the Squad.

Q: Thank you.

It's White Canvas Grappling first ever show in the Tokyo Colosseum and you now it's time for Wrestling Imperium II! The matchcard is stacked with ten matches headlined by two great titlebouts: WCG Intercontinental Champion Bunrakuken Torii is going to defend his title against Kenka leader and former WCG World Heavyweight Champion Morimasa Kato in his fourth defense. Can Kato crown himself as a "double champion"? In the main event Razan Okamoto has to defend his World championship against S-1 Festival finalist "Bulldozer" Brandon Smith, an opponent who has beaten the "Dreamcatcher" during S-1 season in spring. Also: Sotatsu Sarumara will clash with rival Tadakuni Toshusai for the third time this year, Ray Snow chose tag team specialist Nigel Svensson as his partner to challenge for the World Tag Team titles and The Berzerkers make their WCG debut when they face OWARI.

„He's dangerous, strong and big. I know him very well, he has beaten me more than once. And he's way better in all of those three categories than me, but you know what his problem is? Rogue Squad. I have read Gauge's interview, they're not a team and have inner conflicts. Gauge is in Smith's head, trust me. “, said Razan Okamoto. Smith laughed it off and said that Gauge would be proud of him if he could capture the title and bring it to the Squad.

Bunrakuken Torii: „We have some history together. I spend the whole year beating the living sh*t out of Kenka guys and it will be no other with Kato. He might have one up his sleeves but i'm prepared for his tactics.“ Kato smirked and said: „You know nothing about my tactics, Torii-kun. You know nothing. I'm a different breed than any other guy you've faced during your little run as the Intercontinental champion, i'll take that belt off your shoulders and be a champion again.“

- Omezo Shikitei punished Naozane Goto by ripping out the big boys arm in their match. It may be the punishment for Goto's faceturn to the Hontai after Torii's compliments weeks ago. There were serious tensions between Shikitei and Taku during the match.

- The Berzerkers made their White Canvas Grappling debut in a six man tag team match with two young boys involving. Toyokuni Hardcore got the win for this team via pinfall and made it pretty clear that OWARI is going to have a dangerous foe upon them.

- Stealth pinned Remus during Grand J-Challenge and today Mítico pinned Mäkinen after a victory roll for the three. The current Junior Tag champs couldn't be more warned about their upcoming tag title bout against the two masked men.

- Last meeting before WRESTLING IMPERIUM! The Rogue Squad was victorious when Greg Gauge locked in his Proton Lock, Kiyotaka had no choice but to tap. WCG World champ Okamoto and his challenger Brandon Smith had an argument outside of the ring which lead to a pushing contest between these two. Just like at the press conference Okamoto pointed to his head because he said that Gauge is in Smith's head. "The Bulldozer" expressed his anger by throwing young boy Yamhata to the guardrail.

- WCG Intercontinental challenger "KILLING MACHINE" Morimasa Kato made a statement to champion Bunrakuken Torii by pinning his former ally Naozane Goto after Inundation. Afterwards Kato said that he's going to pin Torii with Inundation, he stated that he doesn't need his Choke Sleeper to win the title.
