Just bought WMAA5. Can I improve fighters in specific areas?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Finally bought WMMA5 after deciding between this and TEW2016 (I enjoy MMA more plus all the angles and stuff make TEW a lot of work).

I am playing between the fictional world and Modern Warriors mod (I love both)

and started with low rep and the lowest company (roleplaying as a fresh face booker) hoping to either increase the company to fame or get my rep high enough a major contender will hire me.

I am hiring a good amount of new fighters, some are really good in some area's but bad in others. Do the fighters just increase skill on their own or is there a way I can "push" them to work on other area's in their MMA game ?

WMMA is super addictive and awesome especially if your a fan of MMA. So you decided to play both at the same time with a low rep company or what did you choose to start with?

As far as the improvement goes the younger the fighter the more potential they're usually having and at a certain age they get worse. I think every young fighter gets better but they improve their development if they are in a team. That happens organically if you go through the game that people come to different teams and leave but you have a small option of input. In the fighters profile there is an option 'talk to' and if they aren't on a team and you click on 'join team' they will look for one and there is a pretty good chance they go to a team. Sometimes they don't find one especially if they are not well known or are having a bad slide they can have a tough time to find a place.

Ah gotcha. Talking to my fighters asking them to join a gym is what I have been doing. I was not sure if I could ask a fighter to work on his stand up more than ground for the next few months. Some fighters appear to have great potential so I was hoping to capitalize on making sure they meet that potential.

In the CornellVerse I went with XXC/XCX/XCC (One of those lol) it is only three lower weight classes in the company. Figured I would start small so I wouldn't overwhelm myself reading up and doing my homework on all the created fighters. Modern Warriors mod I went with King Of The Cage. Started with very low rep on CornellVerse and low rep in Modern Warriors and both I chose CEO. I love a good challenge and to watch all my hard work build up eventually and amount to something. I am kinda role playing the game as if I was hired as a fresh face new Booker with the hope of either bringing a low company to the top or becoming known enough to get hired by the big companies.

Absolutely love the game! Except when a Big Company steals my star power! But that's how things in the real world work, so I am sticking to it. One day I will steal their stars MWahahaha!

Back when I started with WMMA 3 I went straight in with GAMMA and signed like every half good fighter and added all missing male divisions which made for a super slow start but fun anyways. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

love the game! Up to a certain rep level you really have to take a look at your finances but if you make that steady progress you'll soon have a money maker on your hands that can sign all the fighters that you want. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

It would be cool to talk to fighters and recommend a area of their skills they should work on but it's fully up to the fighter if they want to listen or not. So the only way to really even create a fighter of your own would be to mod him in ?

Yeah XCC. <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Probably a good idea. I did turn down the time it takes them to recuperate but just a setting lower than normal (Which I slightly feel like a cheater for). I want to fight winners typically against winners but usually my winner or winners from the previous event are resting after I finish a event with new winners and if I want them to fight I have to postpone a event and usually skip a month or two with no event. Any advice ? I Hope that makes sense lol.

Either by adding them to the database before starting, or importing them later on.

Oh one thing I am having a slight issue dealing with is how to rotate my fighters appropriately. I do my best by trying to focus each card around a certain weight class, or at least thinking one match ahead. So for an ideal example, I might have most or even all of my heavyweights fighting on one card. Or at least if I know I might want the winner of fight a to fight the winner of fight b, I'll put both their fights on the same card to ensure they'll be available at similar times for the next card. Assuming you grow and improve your roster as you go, this gets easier as each division gets stronger and more capable of supporting a whole card by itself. When my games really hit their stride I have 5-8 well-rounded weight classes and I'm running cards at least every two weeks or so.

I need to do some major recruiting then. I might turn recovery down to less severe for the moment idk, bah just feels like cheating but being a low level regional company other companys end up booking my other fighters I had planned to fight the winners of my current card. It really is a tricky thing lol.

I think after playing Real World Mod and CornellVerse, I prefer CornellVerse simply because the loading time is much much faster. Real World Mod takes ages just to sim through a week. I will probably bounce back and forth.

I almost exclusively start with low level national companies so I'm the one doing the stealing/booking. Lol. I hear ya on the cheating feeling, but I learned to quickly get over that and modify each setting as best fit the needs of my fantasy universe. I do think the default setting for recuperation leans toward longer recovery times than are really common. I like it much better with smaller, faster databases too. It really becomes a drag when you can't even sim a whole year while you're sleeping or at work, or when you're actively playing and it takes ~20 minutes just to sim one week.

I unloaded a full truckload, and had cleaned up a pallet that broke and spilled its contents everywhere and I come back expecting to play and it was still processing and only like 3 days from where I left! You know what? Now I think about it Jon Jones literally just did two main events maybe one month after the other? I am turning my recovery time down to Less Severe with that thought!

The CornellVerse is great too because I enjoy reading the back-story's and hard work that obviously went into it, Oh and the pictures and models are great as well. Real World Mod new fighters seem way to balanced and on par with the older more experienced people also I noticed. I am still going to rotate it though because I do love real life MMA and the fighters. Actually thinking about giving the Pride vs UFC mod a shot, that was when I was deep in MMA. Just recently got back into it and trying to discover who the great up and coming fighters are now these days.

Derrick Lewis had a couple quick turn-arounds lately too. And if Donald Cerrone had his way he'd be fighting pretty much every month. Back in the old days of boxing it was common for fighters to multiple times in one month. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

The CornellVerse is great too because I enjoy reading the back-story's and hard work that obviously went into it, Oh and the pictures and models are great as well.

Nice! I need to check that one out sometime. I've only heard good things about it. I'd love to use a good Pride vs UFC database too. That was also when I really got into MMA.
