[Input Welcome] I'm thinking of a LARGE WCW RW game...

Recommended Posts

Since I began my original dynasty (WCW: American Dream) back in April, I've played TEW 2016 at least every other day, with the exception of a few weeks here and there. Real life, of course.

When I stopped my WCW game in July, I was a year in and it was great. Again, real life, so I decided to end the dynasty while I got things sorted out. I've attempted other dynasties since, but nothing keeps my interest like my WCW save did. I grew up on WCW; WWF was the secondary show in my house.

So, I'm thinking of dedicating time when TEW2020 comes out, to a large project. Something ongoing that will run WCW from start to it's 'historical finish'. Bare with me, as I'm about to drop a lot of notes, but here is what I'm thinking:

WCW: The Early Years (Nov 1988 - Jan 1991)

Media mogul Ted Turner and his company Turner Broadcasting Systems (TBS) have purchased Jim Crocket Promotions (JCP), renaming it World Championship Wrestling (WCW), after JCP's primary television show.

» Sticking to WCW's historical TV and PPV schedule.

» Sticking to WCW's historical roster, thanks to solie.org

» As the territory era is coming to a close here, no written contracts are being offered outside of written contract renewals.

» Capping size to Cult.

» Still using

» All championship belts will be NWA titles, though they will not be associated to the NWA. I've debated this, and I want to be able to see "Ric Flair (13)" for example, in the late 90s, and having a new WCW title created will defeat that purpose. I will duplicate the NWA World Title in the database and vacate it, setting it to the alliance to allow the AI to use it moving forward.

WCW: Breaking Free (Jan 1991 - Jan 1993)

WCW continues to make waves, beginning the slow break from the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA).

» Sticking to WCW's historical TV and PPV schedule.

» Sticking to WCW's historical roster, thanks to solie.org

» As long as the territories end up dying off for the most part, written contracts can now be offered.

» Uncapping size.

» Maintaining history with a NJPW partnership.

WCW: The Bischoff Effect (Jan 1993 - May 1996)

In 1993, Eric Bischoff is promoted to Executive of Television, putting him pretty much in control of WCW, as the company is ran heavily on TV and Pay-Per-View events.

» Sticking to WCW's historical TV and PPV schedule.

» Sticking to WCW's historical roster, thanks to solie.org

» Since Bischoff began poaching WWF talent in this era, I'll be keeping my eye out for people to grab, doing my best to stick to the historical roster.

» Hulk Hogan's WWF contract will be pre-set before the game starts to expire in June 1994 as this is an integral period for WCW. (Note: He will not have creative control for obvious reasons)

» Lex Luger's current contract at this point of the game will be adjusted to expire in Aug/Sep 1995, as he's an integral part of the first WCW Nitro.

» 2 WWF worker contracts will be adjusted to end in May 1996 so the Outsiders and eventual nWo can be formed. I will not guarantee that it will be Hall & Nash, as the game may take them in another direction. It will be 2 workers with similar status in the game.

WCW: A Hostile Era (May 1996 - Nov 1997)

Things in WCW get hostile when outsiders penetrate WCW, and challenge everything WCW stands for.

» Sticking to WCW's historical TV and PPV schedule.

» Sticking to WCW's historical roster, thanks to solie.org

» The nWo will contain Hogan and 3 WWF steals.

» The Sting/Hogan story will exist in this save

WCW: $7.5 Million (Nov 1997 - Mar 2001)

In late 1997, WCW did what many thing couldn't be done, and signed their competition's top talent, pretty much signalling the end of a war that has been building since the early 90s.

» Sticking to WCW's historical TV and PPV schedule.

» Sticking to WCW's historical roster, thanks to solie.org

» Whoever WWF's top guy is at this time, the contract will be adjusted so I can snag him in Nov 1997. Bret Hart's WCW jump was huge, despite him not being used properly. This moment in history cannot be ignored.

» This save is where I will begin drastically changing things. I don't like a lot of what WCW did in their last few years.

WCW: Alternate Reality (Mar 2001+)

Some say WCW would have folded by early-to-mid 2001, but most say where WCW goes from here is uncharted territory.

I'd love your feedback on a large game like this. Would you invest time into following it? Have any of you ever done a large multi-year game like this? One of my concerns is 'level of difficulty' against the AI. In my WCW save, WWF was handing the IC title over to people like Bushwhacker Luke and consistently running shows well under it's popularity rating.

Another thing I'll need to do is (besides hoping the 1987 Golden Era mod gets ported over to TEW 2020) to figure out the best way to update the 1987 data to Nov 1988 and not have everyone's stats and popularity basically be the same as 1987, just a changed date.

Let me know what you think? I'd really like to hear your honest thoughts.

Pat Patterson was the WWF booker (I think). I also make title changes less frequent, make McMahon prefer workers with "charisma" rather than "look" so guys across the board with charisma and look like Hogan, Warrior, Hart, Michaels get the pushes and titles rather than guys like "The Warlord" or "Barbarian". I sometimes do jump in as McMahon to take titles off workers like Bushwhacker Luke as intercontinental champion. I'm finding I'm having to do this far less when I make all the above changes though. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I'll be honest, I'm mostly looking forward to seeing who suffers the Screwjob now :D

Honestly, me too. If I can set everyone's potential to 'Random' and turn on game variance, the screw job would be 9 years into the game. Plennnnnnty of time for fun :)
