You could always have Prince Devitt challenge Matt Hardy for leadership or just do an angle where he beats down Matt Hardy and takes over as leader or have everyone in the Dark Order turn on Matt Hardy and align with Prince Devitt, there is several ways you can go with this if need be.

I absolutely love the discussions that get generated here. A bit of insight on my "booking mind", there were multiple people considered for The Exalted one, not just Hardy. When I decided on Hardy, it was based on my overall Dark Order plans. I considered Devitt, but he was unavailable when I decided to pull the trigger on making Dark Order a focus, then he became available unexpectedly. I also considered Brodie Lee, but that's likely the way they are actually going and I didn't want to mirror it.

I get the concept of Hardy as a leader and his mic skills and gimmick lends itself to the Dark Order concept. I think you understand my point that he's borderline talent wise. He has okay mic and SQ but in ring he's more a solid hand than a worker who has any outstanding abilities. His age also means he may decline (if he isn't already). Brodie Lee has a bit more potential given is menace and brawling skills and a few less years on the clock. Balor of course has a more complete package. Your using Hardy the right way by utilising his mic skills it's ore in ring where I see him being a bit problematic hen he has to hang with the likes of Omega & Moxley.

Insane that Hardy is the world champion (in a good way) while he's currently enchantment level in WWE. Crazy world we live in. I could def see a dark Hardy in AEW tho

It's the truth with AEW though. They have two legit Main Eventers Moxley & Omega and they wasted them on a meaningless deathmatch with nothing on the line which killed any chance of a decent feud anytime soon (when you have a match set at 11 it's hard to do a follow up anytime soon after). After that they have Jericho who is closer to 50 than he is 40 and Cody who might be able to Main event but hasn't really done it at any major level. After that you have Tag Specialists like the Bucks and the Lucha Brothers and people like PAC & Swagger who have holes in their game. They are doing well with what they have but the truth of the matter is it's going to take a while before their young talent establishes themselves and they have a decent pool of Main Eventers - for now they have to try to get people up to the level where they are credible against their main guys. In reality if Hardy did head there he would probably be in the slot he's being used in this diary which is why some WWE mid-carders want to jump ship.

I think Jericho is a legit main eventer, PAC like Omega may not have been in USA but could be a legit main eventer aswell. Darby Allin and Hangman Page also get as good a pop as anyone in WWE these days to.

Jericho is not a legit Main eventer only because he can only really work a limited schedule rather than week in and week out - in terms of the skills he still has it but he needs to be used more judiciously They are using him as a faction leader to cover that by having him use lackeys in ring as an obstacle to opponents and that's an excellent way to extend out his usefulness at that level because there's no doubt he can work the mic and draw heat like nobodies business. PAC is a good worker but I think it would be a struggle to push him as a legit Main eventer in the US - he's small and his mic work is an acquired taste - they might get him to that level but the US relies more on mic work that Japan or the UK and that and his size are problematic. Darby Allin and Hangman Page are two of the guys I mentioned that they are trying to make that level - at AEW they are in front of a Partisan crowd and are over but in terms of drawing viewers on TV I very much doubt they are at that level at this point - in fact if you put their photos in front of the average wrestling fan I doubt they would be recognised. I think if you put on a show without Cody/Jericho/Omega or Moxley and relied on people like Allin and Page it would be a struggle right now. I'm not saying they wont get to a Main event level - I really hope AEW succeeds in making stars but right now I think they are relying very heavily on Moxley, Omega, Cody and Jericho which is why adding someone like Matt Hardy would see him pushed to Main Event level pretty quickly as a short term option.
