TNA 2009 - Business as Usual

The Story So Far...

The date is October 27th, 2009, just over a week removed from Bound for Glory. Dixie Carter had been on the phone with Hulk Hogan and his agent all day, trying to keep Hogan on board. Dixie had already missed her goal to get Hogan in for Bound for Glory, TNA's largest pay-per-view of the year, and was doing her best to get him in at all. The next best option would be to get Hogan in by Turning Point, as it was hoped that he would really help boost the company up to a national, WWE-esque level.

While TNA had been doing good, and had a solid roster, they were starting to weaken. A number of departures hit the company over 2009 including Jim Cornette and Beautiful People co-founder Angelina Love. Along with these departures, the X-Division was getting featured less and less with many of it's mainstays moving up the card. In a similar sense, the Knockouts division was beginning to form some cracks with the aforementioned loss of Angelina Love, Rhaka Khan, and the already infamous Sharmell VS Jenna Morasca match at Victory Road 2009. Dixie thought this signing would fix the ailments of her company.

We cut to present day, the first Impact of November 2009. Despite doing what she could, it wasn't enough to bring The Hulkster in, and negotiations between TNA and Hulk Hogan closed. With a new decade on the way, the 3 way Main Event at Turning Point in jeopardy due to Daniels damaging ligaments in his ankle this week, and older workers seemingly out the door, what will TNA do? Will they cling to newly released WWE workers, and older, well known names? Or will they look to the indies and build their own stars?

TNA Impact Nov. Wk 1. Recap:

Styles gets challenged by Daniels and Joe to a Tag Team match. Sting comes out to be his partner.
It is announced that Impact is now 2 hours!
The World Elite (Kiyoshi and Sheik Abdul Bashir) defeat Matt Morgan and Hernandez for a spot in the 3 Way Dance at Turning Point after a miscommunication between Morgan and Hernandez. Cracks are beginning to show between the two as Morgan got mad at Hernandez post-match.
The Motor City Machine Guns and Beer Money Inc. go to Foley to figure out who’s going to be in the 3 Way Dance now that The World Elite are in. Machine Guns are in by default due to not getting a shot in a while. Beer Money Inc. and The World Elite will face off to figure out the final spot.
This week on The Meanest Girls: The Beautiful People barge into ODB’s locker room, trashing a few things, before hitting her with the Ugly Stick.
Raven and Dr. Stevie defeat Lethal Consequences. After the match, Raven and Stevie show footage of Raven throwing a fireball into the unsuspecting face of Abyss backstage. Later in the show, Commissioner Foley berates the two for what they did, setting up a career threatening No-DQ match between Abyss and Dr. Stevie next week, and Daffney VS Tara tonight.
Lashley is walking backstage when he gets attacked by Scott Steiner.
Kurt Angle defeats Homicide. After the match, Desmond Wolfe hits Angle with the Jawbreaker Lariat. Their feud is really heating up..
Backstage, after Foley speaks to Stevie and Co., Rhino hits Brother Ray with a Gore ahead of the Team 3D VS Rhino and Raven match at Turning Point.
Tara defeats Daffney by DQ following interference from Awesome Kong. After the match, Kong hits Tara with the Implant Buster and stands tall.
Before their match, Daniels and Joe are shown talking backstage about strategy, when “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero interrupts. He says he should be in that match, and not Daniels, nor Joe, nor Sting.
AJ Styles and Sting defeat Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels, however, Daniels was injured in the match with ligament damage in his ankles. After the match, The Pope comes out once more, smirking at the site of a downed Daniels.

CROSS THE LINE

TNA.com News/Fallout:

TNA is looking at bringing in a former CZW Tag Team star for the X-Division, more news as we get it.
It has been confirmed that Daniels will be out for 5 Months with his injury, thus being gone at least until after Lockdown. Because of this, TNA management have announced a star-studded match on next week’s Impact for Daniels’ spot in the three way at Turning Point: Sting VS D’Angelo Dinero.
In major news, Booker T has opted to leave TNA to rejoin WWE. TNA wishes him the best, and we hope to see him back one day.
New Japan Pro Wrestling has agreed to send co-holder of the IWGP Jr. Tag Team Titles, Prince Devitt, to TNA to face Amazing Red for the X-Division Title at Turning Point. This has caused a few rifts in the locker room, with many feeling like they deserve that shot.
Despite the growing tension between the two, Matt Morgan and Hernandez will take on The British Invasion in a non-title match on this week’s Impact.

I couldn't decide on when to start the diary, and was planning on starting at Turning Point, and then changed my mind lmao. Hope that this will get better in the future but I gotta close out the existing storylines.

Attendance: 1,400 from the Impact Zone (NO VACANCY) TV Rating: 2.77

TNA World Champion AJ Styles comes out to start the show, reiterating the fact that he is a fighting champion with no fear. Whoever wins the main event tonight, he will gladly plan for at Turning Point.

"The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero comes out, interrupting Styles' promo. He tells Styles that he better start planning now, because he has his main event match tonight in the bag. Especially against some past his prime "legend"

Samoa Joe comes out on the stage, Joe begins talking about how it should just be AJ Styles and him for the title. Dinero pops off saying that nobody asked for him to be out here, or for him to speak. As Styles tries to restore order, Joe and Dinero begin to brawl, getting pulled apart by security.

Match #1: British Invasion VS Hernandez and Morgan

In a match with great wrestling, and good heat, The British Invasion defeat Hernandez and Matt Morgan. Even with a good effort from Morgan and Hernandez, a simple miscommunication ended with Morgan getting a boot full Hernandez leading to a roll-up from Magnus.

AFTER THE MATCH:
Morgan has had enough of Hernandez. After two weeks of sloppy mistakes, costing them major matches, and now a big match against the World Tag Team Champions, Morgan snaps. He hits Hernandez with the Carbon Footprint after Hernandez tries to talk him down. Their relationship is 100% broken now.

Match #2: Taylor Wilde and Sarita VS Daffney and Alissa Flash

In a decent match, Taylor Wilde and Sarita defeat Daffney and Alissa Flash with Wilde hitting a Missle Dropkick.

AFTER THE MATCH:
The Beautiful People come out to antagonize Wilde and Sarita. As they enter the ring, Sky talks about how boring the match was, Rayne making a yawning motion. Sky eventually asks for them just to hand over the tag titles, promising for more action. When Sarita refuses, Von Erich and Rayne begin to center in on them, almost coming to punches...
Rating: 66
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! Why fight now when we could make it a party on Sunday night?" ODB comes out, already having a history with The Beautiful People, eventually proposing a 6 Knockout Tag for all the gold at Turning Point. The Beautiful People agree if they must.

Match #3: Beer Money Inc. VS The World Elite

VS.

In a match that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Beer Money Inc. defeat The World Elite with a D.W.I.. Beer Money looked like a million bucks out there, and with their spot at Turning Point solidified, they have a great chance at the tag team titles.

AFTER THE MATCH:
Eric Young comes out seething, chewing out his fellow World Elite teammates for losing a major shot. The global champion is seen continuing to berate Kiyoshi and Abdul Bashir as they head to the back, Beer Money celebrating. Rating: 72

In a wild brawl of a match, Abyss defeats Dr. Stevie with a Black Hole Slam onto thumbtacks. In the finish of the match, Daffney was looking for a top rope dropkick to, at the very least, distract Abyss. However, before she could leap, she was pushed onto the outside and put through a table! Abyss was able to fend off Stevie just a little longer to hit him with the Black Hole Slam and pin him, ending his TNA career.

In an extremely short brawl, Rhino defeats Kevin Nash after Team 3D interfere in 2:56. Team 3D make it a point to rough up Rhino ahead of their match. Raven is nowhere to be seen as his Turning Point partner is getting beat up. Rating: 56

In another extremely short match-up, Desmond Wolfe defeats Shark Boy with a Jawbreaker Lariat in 3:49. Desmond was looking to prove his dominance coming into his match with Angle at Turning Point, and this was the perfect way to do it.

AFTER THE MATCH:
Kurt Angle rushes into the ring while Wolfe is facing the other way. As soon as Wolfe turns around to see the Olympic gold medalist, he rushes out of the ring, not looking to get put into any of Angle's moves. Angle stands there, staring at Wolfe, seemingly with no intentions of running after him, brawling, or even yelling. The mind games are heating up between these two...

In a match that had fantastic heat, and good wrestling, Sting defeats D'Angelo Dinero in 15:37. It was obvious Joe was still angered by the cocky Dinero, as he came out and stood on the entrance ramp. This proved enough to get The Pope off of his game, and allowed for a Stinger Death Drop, and the 1-2-3 pin. Sting is now in the triple threat main event at Turning Point.

Also, as a quick sidenote: the bonus question was voided this time around as the original worker I brought in (Trent Acid), lived up to his name and barely showed up not on drugs/drunk, so thus I had to fire him. A notable absence from Impact last night was Rhino's ally Raven. Raven could not attend the show due to some personal issues, thus leaving Rhino to fend for himself against Team 3D. Time will tell if he's at Turning Point.
TNA held a number of tryout matches at last night's Impact, with many possible new faces. One of these faces shone bright, and could be seen on TNA television soon: former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Brent Albright. Although he was bested by Machine Gun Chris Sabin, he put up a good fight, and we hope to see him on television soon.
In a big signing that should very well bolster the TNA roster, former ECW, Ring of Honor, and Pro Wrestling ZERO-ONE star Steve Corino has been announced to be joining the TNA roster. He will make his first appearance at Turning Point this Sunday. TNA management has said they have an opponent picked out for him, but it remains to be seen who it is.
