16 CARAT NOIR!

 

The biggest wrestling weekend in german wrestling history is over! 16 Carat Gold is not only a three day single elimination tournament, it's a whole festival weekend for wrestling fans around the world. 16 Carat started on thursday with "Inner Circle", the traditional show has been held in an intimate atmosphere at the wXw Wrestling Academy in front of only 100 fans. On friday the tournament started and continued on saturday and culminated on sunday. Furthermore on saturday there was the traditional shoot-style tournament AMBITION, a wXwNOW Showcase Event where a bunch of different promotions had matches to show the world their best worker. On sunday, right before tourney night three, wXw held a Feature Event which will be shown on their very own wrestling network "wXwNOW" in late march.

 

Way over 4000 fans saw a 16 Carat-debuting Cara Noir who fought like a lion through the much bigger Marius Al-Ani, Jeff Cobb and Jurn Simmons to advance to the finals on sunday against the more experienced Mike Bailey from Canada. In a brutal match where Bailey threw everything against the "Black Swan" it was surprisingly Noir who locked in a Rear Naked Choke to finally submit Mike Bailey after nearly thirty minutes of action. 16 CARA NOIR!

 

16 Carat Gold 2020 was a weekend to say goodbye! On sunday there was the traditional wXw Unified World Wrestling championship match between champ Bobby Gunns and wXw-Evergreen David Starr. Beware this match wasn't just for the title, if Starr loses he isn't allowed to wrestle in wXw anymore. It happened the way it had to when Bobby Gunns nailed the Ehrenmann Driver to put Starrs shoulders down for three seconds, not only to defend his belt but also end the wXw-career of the three-time wXw Shotgun champion.

 

On sunday there was another bye as Timothy Thatcher had his final wXw match alongside legendary Yuki Ishikawa versus former "frenemy" WALTER and the also legendary Daisuke Ikeda. The former wXw Unified World Wrestling champion Tim won the match with an Armbar on Ikeda and left the ring less surprising faster than others.

<div style="text-align:justify;">Five years ago Axel "Axeman" Tischer had his wXw-Farewell in the town of Apolda (Thuringia), he signed with World Wrestling Entertainment and became a lunatic member of SAnitY. Before his change to the psychopath alongside Eric Young Axel Tischer was almost one year a Unified World Wrestling Champion for wXw including defenses against El Generico, Walter or Eddie Edwards. He also became a wXw Shotgun Champion in 2014 when he defeated Carnage in a brutal cagewar - Tischer is still until today the longest reigning Shotgun champ with 266 days as a defending champion. Tischer surprisingly returned to wXw on last years 16 Carat Gold, but wasn't able to capture "his" Shotgun title, different to this year: Again Tischer celebrated his return to wXw's biggest stage, pinned former student Ilja Dragunov to capture the belt in a three-way.

 

The joy of winning was not long! A relatively unknown tag team called Grup Anarsi (Group Anarchy) came down to the ring to attack Tischer! Everybody's Darling Lucky Kid made the save but then turned on Tischer. The loud boos from the crowd couldn't stop Lucky, who explained his actions that he was every time a small part of something - First RISE, then Schadenfreude. He lost his dignity, his honor and his face.

 

"Lucky Kid is no more. I will be known as Metehan for now on.", Lucky screamed into the shocked Oberhausen crowd. The group will be called "Ezel", which is turkish for eternity. To All Eternity, Metehan!

<div style="text-align:justify;">At 16 Carat Gold Alexander Wolfe showed up unannounced to win the wXw Shotgun Championship. After the match he said that a champion have to take responsibility, he can't go back to the States without defending that championship. He confirmed that he's staying in Germany - wXw can confirm that Wolfe will be in action at the following dates:

- Because of german office regulations wXw has to leave Essen and went to Soest, Germany.

- The Westside Dojo was founded in Krefeld, Germany.

- wXw promoted a Pro Wrestling Guerilla show in Essen, Germany.

- Due to the World Light Tournament, which was won by a young Tommy End (Aleister Black), the wXw Lightweight Champion was promoted to a world championship.

 

2007

 

- wXw went to Oberhausen, which is the home of wXw until today.

- A cooperation between the two biggest german promotions (wXw & German Stampede Wrestling) started.

 

2008

 

- A co-promoted wXw & NOAH show was held in Oberhausen.

 

2009

 

- The 100th wXw Show was held.

- wXw began to promote more shows outside of Northrhine-Westfale, f.e. in Baden-Württemberg, Saxony and Hessen.

- wXw promoted the Dragon Gate European Tour in Spain, England and Germany.

- wXw toured with BJW & CZW in Japan and held an event in the legendary Korakuen Hall.

- With the "Hasta La Victoria Siempre" tour the first tour started through the whole of Germany.
