Hoosier Hysteria Prediction Results

What a great show. 24 different people submitted predictions for this show -- which is a record for any diary of mine. We had four people with perfect scores which is great! A lot of people were close with 6/7 -- the match that seemed to trip most people up was the opening match of Pepper Pelton and the Masked Mauler.

Most improved from first show to second show was Jaded, who went from a 0/5 to a 6/7! So great job man! KingSlender had back to back perfect scores and is the man to beat it looks like!

I will be running a 'quarterly' predictions contest. So after our April show, April Showers, the person in first place will win a yet-to-be-determined prize, which will probably constitute either making a decision for a stipulation or choosing a subject for a narrative, or something of that place. Maybe even, depending on the number of predictions we can consistently build, the ability to influence the outcome of a match!

These are ranked by percentage and total number of predictions you've put in. So if you miss a show but still have great showings, you'll still rank high, but it does favor the people who predict consistently on each show.

Running Tally - Contest ends of April show, scores reset then

The youngsters lack of experience is really hurting their match quality, going to rely heavily on veterans this time around.

This is definitely a game where you have to balance rookies and veterans. Fortunately for me, I started at 0 popularity so as long as my shows don't get a 0, I should continue to grow (and as long as I stay ahead of my raw popularity number!)

Got on this a little late, but nice to read two shows worth of content to get invested in the story. Loving the use of Threepwood as "The Guy" at the moment, can't help but think he's got a long run in him to establish the title as a reliable vet on a roster full of greenhorns. Looks like a mega push for The Hangman too, surely big things in his future!

Thank you for the feedback. Hopefully the content so far has you invested. I'm a Threepwood fan for sure and I think he makes a lot of sense as a starting face of a company that's based in Indiana. The Hangman could be, and in my opinion, should be a big star in wrestling. So hopefully I can get him there!

Enjoyed the show, good stuff.

Thank you Blake! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully I can continue to keep you on board and maybe even get you to predict on a CVerse show!

Another fine show man! Can't believe Java tapped, I thought I'd called it right

It might just be me, but I couldn't see the match ratings for the first couple of matches. Happy to say they got clearer as the matches got better though!!

It was a tough night at the office for the big man! That Stretch Plum can be so brutal! It's not just you. The lower graphics are particularly dark. I'm thinking about asking my wife to make new ones for the lower end so they pop a little more.

Very good show. Only called one of them ring and, as The Lloyd said, the ratings improved as the card progressed. Good shit.

Push Hangman. Give him all the belts.

Thank you for following along -- and Hangman should have a good career for me, so long as the big man doesn't get poached (that's always a fear of mine)

Nope, had the same issue upon reading. It's the image files that are to blame, they get darker as you move to their lower part and F range grades are already pretty dark to begin with. Unless that's intentional, in a "this was a crappy match, please move along" kind of way

Nice show, can't believe I was glad to see Bullet Bob in a match!

I had to get a Bullet Bob match in the diary before he retired! And it is a thing with the image file. I downloaded someone's image back here that's just meant to be used in 2016 (because I wanted to represent the number and the grade still), but I kind of like the idea of it being an intentional way to say 'This was no good. Please don't linger'

Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis can announce that Java has left the organization. He had signed a two-match deal with a clause for more matches should he become CWI Champion. Since he was unable to win the battle royal or defeat Conner Threepwood at Hoosier Hysteria, the clause did not come into affect.

Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis would like to wish him all of the best in his future endeavours and who knows... Perhaps you will see the big man from the streets of Chicago back in a CWI ring sooner rather than later?

CWIWrestling.com's staff was able to catch up with Conner Threepwood moments after his successful title defense against Java at Hoosier Hysteria. Here is what the champ had to say.

x1sIdIt.jpg

Conner Threepwood is standing just on the other side of the entrance curtain. There is a small wooden table to his right that looks recently emptied. Whoever was there before left a half-drank bottle of water. Threepwood is covered in sweat and welts and he has the CWI Championship over his shoulder. He looks right at the camera that is on him.

Threepwood, "Let me guess. You want to know how I feel right now?"

The camera nods up and down.

Threepwood, "Of course you do. I just had my ass beat. Java is every bit as tough as his reputation says he is. I've been in this sport for a long time and I've never had someone lay the punishment on me like Java did. I understand now why he's been all over the world and why, thirty years into his career, he's still feared for his physicality and intensity. He's a monster of a man and he gave me everything he had tonight. He put it all out there, but guess what?"

Threepwood raises up the CWI Championship.

Threepwood, "This is still mine. This right here. This championship that signifies the best in the state of Indiana. This championship that I'm going to put on the map to mean the best wrestler in America. It's still mine. Java is one tough bastard. He gave me everything he had in his tank tonight, but I did what I said I was going to do. I beat him. I took his best punches. His best slams. His most savage attacks -- and then I made him do what no one else before me has been able to make him do. I made him submit. I made him look right at Jez McArthurer and give it up."

Threepwood lowers the CWI Championship back to his shoulder.

Threepwood, "I don't care who is next. I don't care who they have for me in March, the outcome is going to be the same. I will still be the CWI Champion."

The Pro Wrestling Reporter, Installment 2

O1E10IA.png

Greetings from the Schluchinski Stronghold for another website update. I’ve been incredibly busy with this influx of professional wrestling to North America. There is so much to keep up on with the expansion of the COTT, plus CWA’s continued attempt to cement themselves as a new breed of Canadian professional wrestling, plus the war between USPW and SWF for American supremacy with TCW still holding on and trying to gain ground. Japan is recovering and finally starting to stabilize. I’ve heard rumblings that Kashmir Singh is working to gain funding for an operation in India -- though that will probably be a couple of years off to get enough talent in place to make it viable.

There is a story coming out of Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis that I find to be particularly interesting. Java did the favor for Conner Threepwood at their Hoosier Hysteria show -- submitting to his Stretch Plum finisher in just under twenty minutes. It was a solid match and a finish I didn’t expect -- I couldn’t tell you if I have ever seen Java submit. I can tell you that Java was very unhappy about the requested finish and only went through with it because he is such a professional. That was his last match in CWI and I don’t expect him to be back.

It looks like CWI is on track to lose just under $4,000 in February. Their sponsorship revenue, from the reports I’ve received, has gone up. Their ticket sales went up and they had a smaller wage bill for the February show than the January show. They still have very low merchandise sales -- which is to be expected at their size. As they gain popularity and they keep their expenditures steady, they should be able to start turning a profit soon. For them, the key is going to be both merchandise sales and ticket sales. They need to get more butts in the seats and they need those butts to translate to more than the 21 cents-a-person amount they are at currently. Ideally, they’d like that number to be closer to ten dollars -- which is a far cry from where they will be for quite some time, but if they are able to increase their per-head number they will have a much easier time generating revenue at a place that isn’t just the gate.

Sponsorship money will only continue to go up as they gain popularity and can both attract more sponsors and charge more for the sponsorships that they already have. From what I’ve been told, they went from $45 in sponsorship revenue in January to $81 in February. That is a $36 increase in the month -- which is a big increase for a company at their level.

I would say the critical reception of their show was significantly better. It’s hard to draw rave critical reviews with a battle royal -- they are, by nature, a tricky cat to skin, but Java and Threepwood had a great match for the company size. If Earnest and co. can continue to put out shows like this, they will be able to carve out a niche similar to an NYCW or MAW in their respective regions.

Their next show will be in March. Their March Madness tournament is planned to be an annual tournament. Earnest is a known lover of tag team wrestling and is hoping to establish tag teams as a major feature of his company. I would not expect any outside teams to be in this installment, as it is for the CWI Tag Team Championship as well. They are going to use the guys they already have verbal agreements with to try and build them into bigger names in the area.

I’ve also heard that the long term plan is to do Nate DeMarcus and The Hangman in a program -- but they want to build each guy as a credible threat. I know the Hangman Open Challenge will continue to be a focal point of the shows.

I also know that they still have a trio of heels that they are waiting to debut and plan to start doing internet video packages in March to help promote the arrival of the trio. It should be an interesting couple of months for CWI and the Confederation of the Territories. They crowned their first Women’s Champion and I expect them to crown the Women’s Tag champions in the next month or two. I’ve also heard rumor that they could be introducing a World Six-Man Championship into the organization. Six-man tags have become quite popular in the COTT. They are heavily featured in OLLIE, CILL, L-Ring, CZCW, and ACPW so they could be a viable World Championship.

I have also heard that the COTT plans to sanction several regional championships to be defended in territories. L-RING received the first one with the COTT Pacific Heavyweight Championship becoming their top title.

qa42UoA.jpg

The belt was made by Tennessee based belt maker Christian Shane.

I know there is rumor of a Mid-America Championship coming to one of the COTT companies to be their top title.

With Marvin Earnest’s announcement that the March event from Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis will be March Madness, a tag team tournament to crown not just the first winners of March Madness, but also the first CWI Tag Team Champions, we here at CWIWrestling.com thought we would showcase the eight teams that are in the tournament.</p><p> </p><p>

.<img alt="PdyiWN6.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/PdyiWN6.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="h4NpB30.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/h4NpB30.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

The first team we can officially announce and highlight are The Rock City Stars. They have been teaming together for fourteen years. They began teaming in October 2005 in Mid Atlantic Wrestling when they were both 21-year-olds who were just beginning their careers. They spent just over two years in Mid Atlantic Wrestling where they carved out a name for themelves as a fast-paced, exciting, young tag team that had all the promise in the world. </p><p> </p><p>

After Mid Atlantic Wrestling, they moved on to Rhode Island Pro Wrestling. It was there that they began to really showcase their skills. In their four years in RIPW, The Rock City Stars won three tag team championships. They went from RIPW to former COTT member 4C. They were in 4C for just shy of three years -- from August of 2016 to July of 2019 when 4C was forced to close due to financial troubles. They managed to win two sets of tag team championships in 4C.</p><p> </p><p>

As a duo, The Rocky City Stars are the most experienced duo in CWI and in the March Madness tournament. Their fourteen years as a team and five different tag team title reigns make them a duo that has to be feared. While neither man is the biggest man in the fight, their chemistry as a team is unmatched and they have to be the odds-on-favorites to win the tournament.</p><p> </p><p>

We continue our series looking at the tag teams that will be competing in the March Madness tournament. Previously, we looked at the most experienced team in the tournament -- the Rock City Stars. This week, we will look at:</p><p> </p><p>

<img alt="Stj1Aep.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Stj1Aep.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ykDf8Lg.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ykDf8Lg.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

The Wolf Pack has been a tag team since April of 2017 when they partnered up in Mid Atlantic Wrestling. While they are coming up on their three year anniversary of being a duo, they have yet to capture any tag team gold. They have; however, built a reputation as being a very in-sync duo that really understands how best to work with one another.</p><p> </p><p>

They are made up of "The Kiwi Crusher" Sione Tokoeka, a 22 year-year old in his fourth year as a pro. He is a graduate of the Mid Atlantic Bootcamp. He's known for being in fantastic shape, Tokeoka is a technically-minded grappler who really likes to focus on an opponents neck before he goes for his devastating Brain Buster.</p><p> </p><p>

And his partner, "The Last Survivor of the Boot Camp" Sean Noggin, was the final graduate of the famed Baltimore-based wrestling school. Much like his partner, Noggin forgoes flashy moves for a serious, ground-based attack of precision strikes and holds designed to hurt an opponent and win matches. A year younger than his partner, the two could have a bright future as a tandem.</p><p> </p><p>

They enter the tournament with a bit of a chip on their shoulders. They feel like they should have more title opportunities than they have had so far and are looking to really make a statement in this tournament. With their experience and similar styles, they could be a major force in this tournament as few teams possess the kind of natural understanding of one another as The Wolf Pack.</p><p> </p><p>

Hmmm I wonder when the Aces of Mayhem will be announced :p

I can say definitively that the Aces of Mayhem are not in this tournament. I have no intentions of bringing in Max Mayhem at this point (I do love Ace Youngblood though and he is 1/3 of the Dog Soldiers)

The Wolf Pack look like they are due a big break. I hope CWI will be the ones to give it to them!

I like the Wolf Pack, I really think as a team they have a lot of potential. They're not too small as to be underdogs, but they're also not too big to have to dominate. They can be a really good heel team.

As a big fan of the Climb. I'm really looking forward to this. I hope you can turn Connor Threepwood into 2020's Riley McManus.

We will see! Riley really caught me off guard with how over he got with the audience (which is part of what made me continue to push him). Conner is a lot of fun and we will see what the future has in store for him!

I'm enjoying the run down of each team you're giving for the competition. Also helps stretch out the diary til release date. ;)

I'll be intrigued to see how The Wolf Pack do as I'm not sure what I'm going to end up doing with them in my MAW save. They just feel a bit... dull? Keep the updates coming, boss.

We continue our series looking at the tag teams that will be competing in the March Madness tournament. Previously, we featured The Rock City Stars and The Wolf Pack. Today, we look at:

BRIVVCX.jpgwCf7Az5.jpg

Representing the trio known as The Dog Soldiers, are Ace Youngblood and Wild Red Stallion. These two men are, by all accounts, a brand new team that are looking to make their mark on professional wrestling with a big debut as a team in the March Madness tournament. Despite being a new team, there are definite reasons to believe that they could go far.

Ace Youngblood is a seventeen year veteran of the squared circle who has carved out a name for himself on the independent scene as being incredibly professional. In a business built around vagabonds, outlaws, drifters, and men and women that would otherwise not be able to exist in polite society. Ace is a true pro. In seventeen years, he has never missed a show he was promoted on due to injury, illness, or any other reason. He is also a noted tag team specialist -- having won four sets of tag team titles in Mid Atlantic Wrestling. Three of them with former partner Max Mayhem and one with current Mid Atlantic Champion, Bradley Blaze. Youngblood is also the one credited with scouting both Roger Monteiro and Wild Red Stallion and bringing the two Native Americans to Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis.

Wild Red Stallion is still in his rookie year as a professional. The 19-year-old is a graduate of the famed Piledriver School of Wrestling. At 6'5" and 280 pounds of solid muscle, the Lakota Nation member could really develop into a big star, especially if he sticks with Ace Youngblood and learns from the experienced pro. Stallion's Lakota Cutter has become a feared move in the Mid West of the United States, where Stallion has been carving out a name for himself with his brawling-heavy style.

The combination of the two men could be very successful if Youngblood is able to guide the raw power of Wild Red Stallion and helping him learn the finer parts of the sport.

Are you kidding me with that nickname? Give him ALL the titles!

It's impossible to know until the bracket comes out but all of the teams revealed so far feel like first round fodder to me

Unfortunately, at the start of this, my tag division is going to need some work. I had to resist going any signing some big marquee tag teams to start the game both to keep myself under a good budget so that I won't always be losing money and to force myself to build some teams -- so there aren't going to be any big shockers from a team standpoint in this tournament. Trying to build a division from scratch is always fun!

Awesome feature, I am looking forward to seeing the Wild Dogs! I have never been a huge fan of Ace, but Red Stallion is a future star!

How could you not like Ace?!?! The man is a stalwart! Ace Youngblood is one of my favorite guys in the database. He'll never be a star singles, but man he can contribute! And he's got a great attitude! The Dog Soldiers will be huge!!!!!!

"The Last Survivor of the Boot Camp"

Are you kidding me with that nickname? Give him ALL the titles!

I mean, I love his nickname too, but we'll have to see how Sean develops to see if he can get ALL the titles.

We continue our series looking at the tag teams that will be competing in the March Madness tournament. Previously, we looked have featured The Rock City Stars, The Wolf Pack, and the Dog Soldiers. Now we take a look at:

DQYn4vG.jpgzCoatR8.jpg

The team known as Hardcore Inheritance is made up of the sons of two of the most well-known wrestlers in the history of the sport and are one half of Andrew Gibson's group known as Genesis. Hardcore Inheritance is made up of Chip Martin and Original Sinner.

Chip Martin is the son of famed wrestling legend Johnny Martin. Johnny Martin is best known for his time in DAVE, where he was employed for fifteen years and was the man who ended the East Coast Wars when he unifed the DAVE, XFW, RPW, and PPPW Championships into one belt. He also was twice the PSW Champion. While Chip calls himself "NextGen", he doesn't want to just be known as the son of Johnny Martin, but would rather carve out his own identity -- which is why he turned down an opportunity to follow his father into PSW and has been carving his own path. While he is roughly twenty-pounds smaller than his father, his ability to take pain means he will be an incredibly tough competitor whether in singles or tag team action.

His partner is Original Sinner is the son of PSW Hall of Famer Primal Rage. Original Sinner is a big, rough brawler who was a standout for the University of Miami Hurricanes football team as a nose-tackle before he shattered his pelvis at the beginning of his junior season -- effectively ended his hopes to be a pro (he was projected to be a third-round or higher pick in the NFL draft). The injury caused him to change career aspirations and he decided to follow in his father's footsteps into pro wrestling. The 340 pounder is an explosive athlete and a powerhouse wrestler that excels at throwing his opponents around.

Both Martin and Sinner have known each other for years -- their fathers did work together for twelve years -- and their friendship with one another means there are high expectations for what the team can do. With Andrew Gibson in their corner, they are a team to watch in the tournament.

Now all we need is Original Sinner to cut "anti-wrestling" promos about how he should have been an NFL superstar but settled for milking wrestling fans of their easy money instead. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
