Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis returns to the Fountain Square Theatre on Saturday, Week 3 of February 2022 for Hoosier Hysteria. After the sensational way CWI started off 2022 with New Year Scramble, Hoosier Hysteria looks to continue that positive momentum and present another fantastic night of COTT-sanctioned professional wrestling action.

Bred for Battle looks to continue to be the most dominant tag team in the history of CWI as they put the Tag Team Titles on the line against California's most violent team, the Long Beach Crew.

Urena Frost will put the Women's Title on the line for the first time against third-generation wrestler Lucy Stone-McFly.

Conner Threepwood will look for a measure of revenge against Rafe Sashay and so much more! Get your tickets today!

Gotta say, I'm siding with Ozzie on this. Even if I'm sure to face the same situation in my game. :o

I side with Ozzie too. Marv isn't as understanding as I am.

You have any overness in Toronto? Think of it as an opportunity to have him put someone over there.

Sadly no -- and he left before any of my shows were scheduled (and he was pretty expensive so I didn't want to set up a show in a place I'd never been just to job him out (though I really wanted to job him out!)

In full disclosure, I will be adding women from willr0ck's Women's Expansion Mod (that you can find here: http://greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=546605&page=8) in to the CWI universe. All of the promotions will be added as potential promotions. Just wanted to give a heads up and a shoutout to willr0ck for all his work.

Great idea and a good way to incorporate willr0ck and his team impressive work

Saturday Week 3, February 2022

Live from the Fountain Square Theatre [indianapolis, Indiana, Great Lakes, USA]

91 people in attendance (no chang in attendance from last show)

Commentators: Marv Earnest & Mark Hyatt

qSIrNZu.jpg?1aO4dY56.jpg

Earnest, “Hello and welcome to another exciting night of Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis action back here at the Fountain Square Theatre. Last month at New Year Scramble, Nate DeMarcus became the first man in CWI history to knock The Hangman off of his feet when he bodyslammed the Mid American Champion. The Hangman took the Champion’s advantage when he intentionally got disqualified -- but what will be the fallout from that? We will surely find out tonight. We will also see California’s most violent tag team, recognized as the best tag team in Southern California -- the Long Beach Crew -- making their CWI debut when they challenge Bred for Battle for the CWI Tag Team Championships. Lucy Stone-McFly challenges Urena Frost for the CWI Women’s Championship and so much more. Joining me tonight to call of the action is the most hated member of the CWI roster, a man who is banned from every nightclub in a fifty-mile radius, Mark Hyatt.”

Hyatt, “It’s great to be back in this classic sweatbox for what should be an excellent night of professional wrestling, Marv. Two big championship matches plus the man I called to have a breakout 2020, Rafe Sashay, gets his biggest match of his career when he takes on that overrated Conner Threepwood! It should be an easy night for Sashay.”

Earnest, “Did you just call the two-time Mid-American Champion overrated?”

Hyatt, “I did. He had a good run, I can admit that, but he’s not a top guy anymore. He’s been on the downslide. He couldn’t beat Funky Fedora last month. He couldn’t help Mr. Grappling win the Tag Team Titles in December. He’s just a guy hanging on to his one moment of glory. He’s going to really learn that tonight when Rafe Sashay gets the victory!”

Earnest, “That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.”

Hyatt, “You must not have ever had a woman tell you that you’re handsome -- because that would be ridiculous!”

Earnest, “Let’s go ringside before Mark gets too out of hand.”

"Red" Yvonne Ericks versus "Stunning" Sabrina Wells

The opening match of the night pit the young Yvonne Ericks -- that many have tipped to be a breakout star for CWI -- against the experienced but still young Sabrina Wells. Wells has had a stop and start career in CWI. Her and her partner Ruby Reece had a good first year, but they were never able to really get over the hump or turn the corner and hit that next level. Ericks brought the fight to Wells right from the beginning of the match and Wells looked a little rattled. Ericks looked hungry for the upset and the spotlight and it served her well throughout the match. Ericks had an answer for everything Wells did -- and ended the match with a big Mafia Kick that got her the big win.

In a decent match, Yvonne Ericks defeated Sabrina Wells in 7:42 by pinfall with a Mafia Kick.

Deverell’s Army came out to the ring, led by their fearless leader, Zippy Deverell. Zippy had the Indiana Heavyweight Championship clutched in his arms as he was flanked by the three big bruisers that watch his back. His cousin Haley took the microphone from Steffi Chee and handed it to her cousin. Deverell looked around at the fans before he spoke.

Deverell, “I told y’all what was gon’ happen. I told y’all that I was gon’ once again be the Indiana Heavyweight Champion. I told you and that’s what I did because my mama didn’t raise me to be a liar. My mama raised me to tell the truth and my daddy raised me to win at all costs and now I am once again the Indiana Heavyweight Champion and it won’t stop there for Deverell’s Army. No. We are on a mission in 2022. A mission to get what is rightfully ours. To get the success that is rightfully ours. To take what we want and what we want is all the gold and all the respect. We want everything. We’re men with no where to turn. We don’t have backup plans. There aren’t lives waitin’ for us outside of pro wrestling. This is what defines us. We’re four men who weren’t good law-abiding citizens. We don’t do well in polite society. We don’t do well at nine-to-fives or corporate structures. We didn’t do well in school. We did well in fights. We did well using our hands -- and that’s what we’re going to continue to do. Next month is the Mach Madness Tournament These two big bastards, The Taggs, are going to be in that tournament and they’re going to win it. They are going to win the third ever March Madness tournament and they are going to continue Deverell’s Army to the top. We’ve already established that I am an honest man, so you know that it’s going to happen.”

Deverell tossed the microphone over the top rope to Steffi Chee and made his exit with his group.

The Dog Soldiers [Youngblood & Stallion] versus Canadian Blonds [savage & DaLay]

The bad blood between the Canadian Blonds and The Dog Soldiers seemed to be building from December when the Dog Soldiers became World Six-Man Champions. The Dog Soldiers primary tag team, Youngblood and Stallion, stepped into the ring with the new tag team of Flash Savage and Robin DaLay. Savage had been the lynchpin of the Blonds -- and at this point was the only original Blond left. Robin DaLay was a good young prospect and gave a physical specimen that was equal to Wild Red Stallion to the Blonds. This was a very straight forward tag team match. Savage and DaLay showed some really good chemistry in their first outing. They isolated Ace Youngblood and Savage and DaLay did some good double team offense. Savage hit some good lucha-inspired offense that he learned from his stint in Mexico and DaLay showed that he is a better overall package than his father. The hot tag came and Wild Red Stallion came in and cleaned house. Savage bumped all around the ring for the big powerhouse member of the Lakota Nation and Robin DaLay took several bumps -- not bumps as big as the Tiny Terror, but good bumps nonetheless. Wild Red Stallion hit a big Gorilla Press Slam where he dropped Flash Savage ontop of Robin DaLay and then got a near fall. Stallion made the tag out to Ace Youngblood and Youngblood fired up with his barrage of chops that blistered Savage and DaLay. Youngblood went for the Flying Tomahawk Chop on DaLay slid out of the way of it. Savage flew across the ring like a 180-lbs missile and flung his body into Wild Red Stallion and knocked the two of them to the floor. While the official was distracted with this, Robin DaLay reached into his shorts and loaded his fist with something. He punched Ace Youngblood with a loaded closed fist -- right in the jaw -- and dropped Youngblood. When the referee turned around, DaLay was making the cover and the object was nowhere to be found.

In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Flash Savage and Robin DaLay defeated Ace Youngblood and Wild Red Stallion in 13:11 when Robin DaLay pinned Ace Youngblood after using a foreign object.

Flash Savage carried the match in terms of in-ring performance.

Steffi Chee was standing in the ring for an interview with Nate DeMarcus. Nate DeMarcus came to the ring, but he was not alone. He was accompanied by former USPW star DC Rayne.

Chee, “Nate. Hello. DC. This is definitely a surprise, we didn’t expect to see you here tonight. What’s going on?”

DeMarcus, “After The Hangman took the low road last month, I realized that I needed to go out and get a coach. Someone to help me prepare for The Hangman -- and my mentor DC Rayne was the first person I could think of. Years ago, when I made the trip up to Baltimore to begin my pro wrestling career, DC Rayne was a big support. Even though he was already a nationally known star -- although he was already a guy making close to seven figures a year, he took the time to make sure he helped guide me through training and into my professional career. I reached out to him and he agreed to come help me train because next month at March Madness, I’m getting a rematch for the Mid American Championship.”

Chee, “You’re getting a rematch with The Hangman?”

Rayne, “Yes he is. At New Year Scramble, Nate became the first man to knock The Hangman off of his feet when he slammed that big bastard into the mat. He made history and he would have made history as the first man to pin The Hangman -- but The Hangman took the coward’s way out. So I spoke to CWI management on behalf of Nate. I spoke to the Confederation of the Territories matchmaking committee and I secured Nate a second opportunity at the Mid American Championship. This time, the coward will not prevail.”

Before another word could be said, the folks in the ring are interrupted by the sounds of “The Hangman’s Body Count” and the arrival of the COTT Mid American Champion.

XyUhxy3.jpg?1

He stalked his way down to the ring -- but he does not get it in. He just pulls the rope from around his body and dropped it on the ground. He reached up for the top rope and pulled himself onto the apron. He motioned for Steffi Chee to walk over to him.

Chee, “Did you have something you want to say?”

The Hangman, “I am not a coward and you will learn that next month. Next month when you step into the ring with me, you will learn that destruction can be slow or it can be fast, but it will not be enjoyable. I’ll see you at March Madness.”

The Hangman suddenly reached out and grabbed Steffi Chee by the throat and lifted her up over the ring and drove her down to the floor with a Choke Slam before DeMarcus and Rayne could react. He dropped his rope over her and walked off as they slid out of the ring to check on her.

"American Eagle" Roger Monteiro versus "Triple Threat" Davis Wayne Newton

Coming out of the angle with Steffi Chee eating a horrible Choke Slam, we had Roger Monteiro and Davis Wayne Newton in a first-time-ever singles contest. With the loss of Goldstein, Newton looked poised to become the top guy in the Canadian Blonds. The Toronto native had been sensational in CWI so far and this was no different. Newton brought out the best in Monteiro. The match was a solid mixture of high flying, technical, and brawling. They exchanged holds, they threw fists, they took the sky. The crowd was thrilled as they took it to each other. Monteiro hit a Flying Huricanrana on Newton that was brilliant. He went for another diving move that Newton countered with a Super Kick that flattened Monteiro and almost got the three count. Newton hit the Fisherman’s Suplex and got the win.

In an exceptional match, Davis Wayne Newton defeated Roger Monteiro in 10:12 by pinfall with a Fisherman's Suplex.

"The Man, The Myth, The Legend" Rafe Sashay w/ Funky Fedora versus "The Indiana Strangler" Conner Threepwood

Last month, Rafe Sashay made a big splash when he helped Funky Fedora get the victory over Conner Threepwood. This month, he had the opportunity to step into the ring with Conner Threepwood one on one. Sashay was still young in his career against the much more experienced Conner Threepwood. Threepwood controlled most of the match up -- the veteran technician kept Sashay grounded and worked a variety of submission holds -- including a great variation of a Rings of Saturn that Sashay screamed in. Everything that Threepwood did was setting up for the Stretch Plum. Sashay sold brilliantly -- clearly his strength was in selling and character work. Sashay did take control for several minutes and showed some nice offense before Threepwood took back over. He hit a textbook German Suplex that got a near fall. Sashay kicked out but stayed folded up like an accordion. Threepwood began to lock in the Strech Plum. He got it fully in when Funk Fedora hopped onto the ring apron and grabbed the referee’s attention. While the referee was distracted...

7tUaFCh.jpg

Big Egon Merowitz hit the ring. The New York bruiser drove his foot into the back of Threepwood’s head and knocked him out of the Stretch Plum. He lifted Threepwood up and hit the Spinning Back Fist before rolling out of the ring so that Rafe Sashay could hit the Forward Russian Legsweep. Sashay made the pin and Fedora hopped off the apron so Sashay could get the huge win.

In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Rafe Sashay defeated Conner Threepwood in 14:35 by pinfall with a Forward Russian Legsweep following interference from Egon Merowitz.

American Gold came walking to the ring. They didn’t look super happy as they got into the ring and a ring hand filling in for Steffi Chee handed English a microphone.

English, “Last month didn’t go the way me and my brother Maliek thought it was gonna go. We were expecting to leave as CWI Tag Team Champions and we didn’t. That’s ‘cause we took our eyes off the prize. We let ourselves get distracted from the mission.”

Chamberlain, “That’s damn right. We got distracted from our goal because we were so wrapped up in The Texas Express. In proving something to them and to the crowd. We shouldn’t have done that. It was a mistake and it’s not a mistake that we’re going to make again. Next month is the third annual March Madness. Next month, we’ll go through seven other teams to win that and get another shot at the tag team titles!.”

They were interrupted by the arrival of…

The Texas Express! Cooper and Turk made their way to the ring. They got in it and shook hands with American Gold before taking the microphone.

Christie, “Turk and I appreciate your honesty. We fell short too -- for the same reasons you did. We took our eyes off the prize. We got caught up in competition and pide and we allowed ourselves to fall short of our goal, but just like you, we have our eyes on the March Madness tournament and on winning that and establishing ourselves as the premier tag team in CWI.”

Trenneman, “We know we’re going to have to go through you if we’re going to win the tournament and we just wanted to state here that it won’t be anything personal, but we are coming to the March Madness tournament to win -- and to punch our tickets to Circle City Classic III and a Tag Team Title shot. We wanted to tell you that to your face.”

Trenneman dropped the microphone and the two teams stood toe to toe for a minute before separating peacefully.

Lucy Stone-McFly versus Urena Frost ©

The semi-main event was up next. Lucy Stone-McFly came out with the UCW Women’s Championship -- a rare thing for CWI to let someone bring another company’s title belt with them to the ring. CWI was clearly trying to present Lucy Stone--McFly as something special, something to be feared. She came out of the gate working that smooth Stone family technical style against Urena Frost, who truthfully had been the anchor of the women’s division up until now. Month in and month out Frost was the most consistent wrestler in the division and had worked her way into being champion. This was very much a technical battle, with Frost showing her own technical prowess -- and her size advantage -- to punish Stone-McFly for large portions of the match. Stone-McFly used smooth transitions and her speed to work Frost down to the mat and into a variety of submission attempts that Frost was able to get out of. Stone-McFly hit a Cravat Suplex that was beautiful looking and that Frost sold brilliantly. Frost also hit a combination of Rolling Northern Light Suplexes that almost scored her a victory but Frost was able to kick out just before the three count. Stone-McFly went to the top rope and when Urena Frost stood up Stone-McFly flew through the air for a Missile Dropkick, but Frost rolled out of the way and Stone-McFly ended up connecting with Bret Graveson. Graveson flew across the ring and took a big bump. Stone-McFly looked very upset with herself. While she went over to check on the referee, the crowd roared with shock.

QAW standout and House of Stone Graduate, Honey Badger, had hopped the barricade and slid into the ring. She was dressed in street clothes and security started running toward the ring, but before they got there, Honey Badger hit an Exploder Suplex on Stone-McFly was picture perfect. Security got to Honey Badger and pulled her out of the ring. While they did, Urena pulled up Lucy Stone-McFly and hit the BattleCry. Graveson came to his senses and made the cover and got the successful title defence.

In an exceptional match, Urena Frost defeated Lucy Stone-McFly in 22:19 by pinfall with a BattleCry following interference from Honey Badger. Urena Frost makes defence number one of the CWI Women's title.

Long Beach Crew versus Bred for Battle © w/ Andrew Gibson

Southern California’s most violent tag team, the stand out Long Beach Crew, was making their Great Lakes debut here against Championship Wrestling from Indianapolis’ most dominant team, Bred for Battle. Bred for Battle was in the midst of the longest CWI Tag Team reign in the company’s history. They already had more defences than every other titleholder combined. They have looked almost unstoppable. This was an ultra-physical match. Violent in the brawling. Cali Slick, in particular, looked like a guy who should have a major contract. The crowd loved the physicality of the match up. Aces High took a major bump when Dreadnought Bodyslammed him off of the ring apron to the hard, unprotected wooden floor. Right after that, Bred for Battle hit the Sins of Our Fathers on Cali Slick and then James Diaz made the cover and they made their seventh successful title defence.

In an exceptional match, Bred for Battle defeated Long Beach Crew in 16:47 when James Diaz pinned Cali Slick with a Sins of Our Fathers. Bred for Battle make defence number seven of the CWI Tag Team.

Hoosier Hysteria was a success and I was pleased with how we were progressing. We had several storylines that were progressing and building steam. We had momentum on our side. Even with the loss of Ozzie to CWA, going into March Madness we were as strong as ever.

My phone rang and I looked down at it. My heart sank. This was not going to be good news.

J6ohwez.jpg

"Hello Davis." I said dryly. A phone call at this time of night was not going to be good.

"Hey boss man." The Toronto native said.

"Who is it?" I asked. I didn't have time for pleasantries.

"USPW."

Shit. Another Blond lost to the deep pockets of someone else. I was sure that Davis was going to be with us for the long haul. I was certain that Davis was going to be a key player in CWI for years. A cornerstone piece. Apparently I was wrong.

"Starting when?" I asked.

"Beginning of April fulltime. I wanted to be able to finish up my commitment for March Madness." He said. At least he wasn't Ozzie Goldsteining me. At least he was going to go out looking up at the lights.

"I appreciate that." I did. I was pissed, but I understood. He wasn't getting any younger. He had worked his ass off for a chance at the big leagues. A chance at real money. Truthfully, I understood when anyone left for a bigger opportunity. I hated it but it was a reality I had to deal with. A reality I had to plan for. Those plans were going to have to change... Again.

"I didn't want to leave you hanging. I made a commitment. I have to honor that. It's how Rip taught me."

"You're doing it the right way. Thanks."

The phone call ended that way and I stared at the wall for far longer than I'd like to admit.
