I wanted it to be bigger but what do i introduce? And then the idea hit me. Tournaments have always been an integral part of pro wrestling anywhere in the world. In USA & Japan, you have an abundance of them like Rip Chord Invitational, King of New York, King of California and Best of Super Juniors, PGHW's Elite Series & Elite Tag Series. Over in Britain you have the Cornell Cup while in Canada you have the Ed Henson Memorial. So, why not we hold a tournament of our own. Why not give a tribute to our promotion name. So, details were finalized. Our next PPV in May will be MUMBAI GRAND PRIX Held over two nights, this will crown both the singles winners and the tag winners. Grade: 30 Mumbai GP Qualifiers: Kolkata Jai vs Bengali Brawler The two brawlers from the City of Joy, Kolkata went at each other like some long-lost enemies. Bengali showed he can hang with the monstrous Jai dishing out similar punishment to him as Jai had done in the past but experience finally prevailed as Jai moved out of a Bengali Kick and then dished the Kolkata Slam to win the match. Result: Kolkata Jai beat Bengali Brawler via Kolkata Slam (qualifies for Mumbai GP) Rating: 31 Another entry as the tag champs make their way out The Originals open challenge Sarja: I have been thinking that we have been the tag champs but there is no mention of that anywhere in the show is it. Everybody is concentrating fully on the upcoming Mumbai GP so we thought that we would come out here and do a little Bollywood. So, we throw an open challenge to anyone, come and take our tag titles from us. The call was answered by the Avatars who arrived looking menacing as usual. Rating: 27 Grand Tag Team Championship: The Originals © vs The Avatars Axl and Big Tex came up with a plan isolating Kishan and dealing him heavy damage. But they went a little overboard with the brutality and the crowd did not like it. The ending came when Kishan made a desparate hot tag to Sarja who cleaned up house before a Sensational Drop was all she wrote. Result: Originals defeated The Avatars (Defense #1 of MGPW Grand Tag Team Championship) Rating: 11 BBA at Backstage Bollywood: So, it seems that finally the management has come to senses and included me in the upcoming tournament although they should have just let me directly into the mains. His almost unrelentless intensity and his mix of lucha & brawl style made life very difficult for the champ. But a few hard knocks later, BBA channelled his inner strength to lay some haymakers of his own and then delivered a running powerbomb to turn this around. He wore him down further working on his legs before at the right moment, he went for the Kashmir Clutch and booked his ticket. Highlights included a series of scissor kicks from either end, a running roundhouse kick and a running dropkick. Grade: 15 Mumbai GP Qualifiers: Thorsten Sigurdsson vs Parvin Kishan The last few weeks have established the fact that Kishan is the weak link in the Originals and his shortcomings are fully exposed in this singles match as Sigurdsson makes him pay with his high energy brawling. A Blood Axe was all that was needed for the Norwegian to pick up the victory. Result: Thorsten Sigurdsson beat Parvin Kishan via Blood Axe (qualifies for Mumbai GP) Rating: 30 Backstage Brawl We move backstage where The Avatars, Axl & Big Tex is having a dig at Jai and Prince Rupy of The Sensationals for not being considered in the Tag GP. Very soon tempers started flaring and it erupted into an all-out brawl before BBA and Kashmir Singh came running in to stop the brawl. They themselves get into a tiff and challenged each other to a 6 man match and we get our next fight just like that. Rating: 26 6 Man Tag: The Avatars (BBA/Axl/Big Tex) vs The Sensationals (Kashmir Singh/Kolkata Jai/Prince Rupy) The backstage brawl flowed into the ring as well with the ref having a hard time trying to control the action. With the two big muscleheads, Big Tex and Kolkata Jai going at each other on the outside, BBA turned his attention onto Rupy in the ring and almost decapitated him with a running roundhouse kick. He then delivered a running over-the-rope crossbody taking down both the men. Kashmir went to work on Axl with a series of painful chops and body-to-body suplexes rendering him useless. He didn’t see BBA and Rupy making his way to the ring. Rupy tried going after Bollywood with an irish whip but he reversed and sent Rupy crashing onto Kashmir. Grade: 31 The Legend arrives The crowd waited impatiently for the so called wrestling legend who was coming to this promotion and large screams were heard from a very vocal crowd as the former DAVE and WLW legend, Acid made his way out. Rating: 25 Grand Championship Match: Bali Daljit © vs Acid Acid has not lost any step and he almost went toe to toe with the grand champion Daljit who was 13 years younger. After a series of breath taking exchanges between the two, the bout settled into a certain flow with Daljit trying to make ground for his finisher while Acid unrelenting in his quest to fend off any advances. He also managed to hit an Acid Drop but to the shock of him and the delight of many, Bali kicked out. A second attempt followed but the champ rolled through and then recovered with a dropkick. A Firestarter followed and the best match of MGPW finally ended. I am just hiring veterans for something to do with Daljit because the major storylines will start after the Grand Prix. After just about a minute, arrives the leader of the Sensationals, Kashmir Singh. Kashmir: Ha Ha Ha!! Our CEO is silenced aren’t he? For the first time it looks like he has nothing to say. Murugan motions Kashmir to keep quiet. Kashmir: For being a Reject, you sure greased quite a few palms to nab this position, didn’t you? And quite a jugaadu as well for getting monsters to do your bidding. The mic has finally started working and so Murugan speaks his mind. Murugan: Jaisi Jiski Soch (To each his own I suppose). Kashmir: Don’t try to fool these people with your speeches Murugan. There was a reason industry rejected you all, because you are nothing more than a bunch of freaks and you celebrate that by naming yourself Rejects!!! You are bunch of lunatics and nothing else and I will not let this promotion get run to ground by people like you and tonight is the night we start our mission to free us from you. And once the Grand Prix is over and all of you have been dusted to ground, we will be standing tall and taking this promotion over. And meet me and Kolkata Jai in the ring with a partner of your choosing tonight and I will show that I mean business. Grade: 34 Avinash Keer vs Kumar Kong A warm-up match for the Kung Fu Man Keer as he overwhelms the big man with his kicks and aerial assault. A Dead-End finishes this in just over 9 minutes. Woeful to watch. Result: Avinash Keer defeated Kumar Kong via Dead End Grade: 10 Jay Silver vs Acid After that awful match, Acid and Silver had a much tougher task to bring the crowd back alive and they managed it, the high-flying style of Acid contrasting well with the mat based offense of Silver. In the end, Acid was caught in mid air and brought to ground with a sideways slam before Silver Surf got locked and he had no option but to tap. Result: Jay Silver defeated Acid via Silver Surf Rating: 29 <div style="background-color:#ffffff;color:lightblack;border-style:solid;border-width:3px";"> Kishan Tahil: Silver warms up well for his quarter final against Sigurdsson. Defeating Acid is no mean task. He is a 18 year old veteran of this industry. Speaking of veterans, Kumar you seem to have lost your step in the last few weeks, it seems that you are not in your gears……. Kumar Kong: Oh Kishan. This is just a minor blip. You know if you follow the careers of legends in every sport, you will see this is termed as a bad patch. I am going through the same but come Grand Prix, I am confident that I will turn it around….. People tune in to listen to me and not to your blabbering.</div> Bollywood Time BBA: Ok, tonight I don’t have much to say. All I want to convey is that Grand Prix is just a couple of days away and I have not yet properly warmed up. So, I thought deep and hard as to who should be my final friendly before the tournament starts you know, as they say in football. And then a thought came to my mind that my cousins from USA are also in the tournament and it would not be right for me to get practice alone because family looks after each other, isn’t it? Some strong reactions come from crowd. BBA: So, I thought that why not make it a practice match for all three. So, I went in and got us a match against the tag champs and a partner of their choosing. So, chumps, bring it on. Rating: 60 Six Man Tag: Avatars vs Originals & Dangermouth The final man turned out to be Dangermouth who was having a rough time with losses creeping up. It was again a typical brawl which has been the case whenever the Avatars have been involved. Bollywood was hands down the best in the ring and he performed like a true star tagging in and out, cockily playing to crowd and keeping the best phases of match for himself. And of course, the ending belonged to him as a Bollywood Special #1 in succession to both Dangermouth and Parvin Kishan meant he was the lone man standing. Result: Avatars defeated Originals & Dangermouth Rating: 30 Sensationals (Kashmir/Kolkata Jai) vs Rejects (Murugan/Thorsten) The opening altercation had added much more fuel to this match and we got to see different styles. While Kolkata Jai & Thorsten’s was a big hoss fight, the duel between Kashmir & Murugan was filled with lucha and technical offense. Murugan had a chance to win this for the team when Kolkata had blanked himself out after Murugan ducked out of a running splash and the big man crashed on the turnbuckles dropping to the ground immediately. Murugan went for the Point Blank but Kashmir nicked him from outside and then stole a tag from Jai before a brainbuster and a follow on Kashmir Clutch on Murugan gave him the win. Result: Kashmir & Kolkata defeated Murugan & Thorsten Grade: 31 <div style="background-color:#ffffff;color:lightblack;border-style:solid;border-width:3px";"> Kishan Tahil: The legend delivers a win, although not in a very clean manner. Kumar Kong: Doesn’t matter bud. It’s the win that matters. Kishan Tahil: Up next, yet another legend has descended into India to look to take the Grand title from Bali Daljit. Entry of another Veteran A small video package is put on which highlights Aprendiz Jr. and his many highlights of his career. The second man to wear the mask, he has spent majority of his 24-year career in two promotions, with 8 in MPWF and 8 in EMLL. Rating: 12 Grand Championship Match: Bali Daljit © vs Aprendiz Jr. This was a similar bout to what Acid and Bali had with Bali trying for his speedy offense and Aprendiz slowing down the proceedings and making it difficult for the champ to tie down a sequence. They had nailed down this story telling aspect beautifully and so the chase for the finish intensified. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, Bali finally countered an Aprendiz Drop to a muscle buster before busting out his Firestarter to notch up yet another defense.
