I think so just so Tafa can hopefully get the rub. It's hard cause even though they're both old.. they posses the ability to still take people out easily

-Heavyweight Champion Justin Tafa confirms via Social Media that he will face Mark Hunt in his first title defense. He states that Hunt has been a huge influence on his career

-Anthony "Rumble" Johnson has announced he plans to return to MMA, UFC are said to be keen with Bellator being favorites to sign

-Multiple cage veterans have decided to test free agency looking for that last huge payday. Many have been quoted that whilst they are not ready to hang up their gloves yet, UFC is becoming increasingly difficult to floruish due to rising stars and stale divisions. Cub Swanson has said that he is looking for a new challenge

- Rizin have announced the signing on mega star, former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson "Spider" Silva. Silva has been out of contract after letting his UFC paperwork expire. Silva has only 1 win in his last 6 fights but states that he has alot more battery life yet, challenging himself to remind people who The Real Greatest Of All Time is. Silva is ready to battle sooner rather than later as Rizin currently seek an opponent to match the magnitude of such a great fighter

- Yatsuka Kishimoto has tested posted for performance enhancing drugs and will now face a suspension after his 1st round submission over Quero has now been overturned to a no contest

MAIN CARD

Bellator's MVP and Rizin's Gomi were scheduled for their superfight back in December 2020, but Gomi pulled out with a stomach injury. Page went on to beat Damien Brown before reiterating his intent to fight Gomi before he returns to Bellator. The two will compete at Welterweight on a stacked card that sees the MMA return of "Rumble" Johnson. Johnson has not fought competitively for almost 4 years and returns to heavyweight where he will take on Hyun Ma Myung. The Co-Main sees Takaya and Hioki in a battle of the veterans. Mikuru Asakura remains undefeated and takes on Will Chope after his successful Rizin debut back in October. Dustin Ortiz promises to put his shock loss to Francesco Ghigliotti behind him with a victory over Yuta Sasaki. And the opener see's Saiga's challenge come to fruition when he and SHOOTO star Kakeru Fuma clash.

UNDER CARD

Tofiq Musaev returns and welcomes Andre Winner. Kanna Asakura looks to remain in the win column against Irene Cabello and Maia Stevenson and Rika Ishige both debut coming in off wins. Kana Watanabe lost her undefeated label against Rin Nikai and faces a tough opponent in Chelsea Hackett.

- Tatsuya Kawajiri will defend The Rizin Lightweight Championship against Mateusz Gamrot later in the year. Gamrot is currently suffering from a minor training injury, delaying the bout for a short time

- Super Atomweight Champion Ayaka Hamasaki will challenge current TKO Strawweight Champion Lisa Ellis at Invicta 46 before returning to Rizin where she will defend against Rena Kubota. The 2 have had a public falling out, resulting in Kubota leaving their shared gym

Widely recognized as "The Goat" of MMA, Anderson Silva will compete outside of the UFC banner for the first time in nearly two decades. Silva has failed to replicate his early success after losing 7 of his last 9 bouts, 3 against Chris Weidman. His handpicked opponent, Vitor Belfort has not fought in 3 years despite signing to ONE Championship. This is a battle for the ages, only perhaps a few years too late. Kai Asakura will defend his Bantamweight Championship for the second time against challenger Naoki Inoue. Inour has been on a tear since early 2000 winning 4 of his last 4. UFC Veteran Clay Guida will be welcomed to the ring by Gilbert Melendez who looks to climb the rankings in hope of a potential title shot. Another UFC Veteran debuts when Cub Swanson takes on Doo Ho Choi for the second time in their careers. Sergio Moraes and Hyun Gyu Lim will open the main card. RIZIN 31 will host 3 of the biggets fights of the year. Firstly, RIZIN not only announce the signing of former Strikeforce and UFC Champion Luke Rockhold they also announce their intentions going forward as a legitimate competitor to UFC in Japan. Rockhold had recently tested free agency and will now take on Shunsuke Inoue. Inoue has not been on good form and many see this as a tester for Rockhold. Patricky Freire returns form Bellator. Freire has only lost 1 of his last 10, that against Tofiq Musaev in The Rizin Lightweight Grand Prix. He does have a noteable victory over current champion Kawajiri who headlines the show against rival Gamrot. Freire's opponent is Ricardo Lamas who beat Diego Nunes via decision on his Rizin Debut. The main event see's Gamrot finally challenge Kawajiri. This bout almost happened months ago, but a shock loss to Nakamura saw Gamrot fall down the rankings with Kawajiri continuing to mock the pole. Rin Nikai is on a 6 win streak and will face her hardest task yet when she takes on Brazian Claudia Rey who is currently undefeated. Opening the main card is Imanari vs Keramov in the Featherweight Division.

Things have been very tense between Heavyweight Champion Tafa and challenger Mark Hunt. Hunt's 1st victory in 5 bouts came over Frank Mir at Rizin 28 and he immediately challenged new champion Tafa. Tafa has impressed since signing for Rizin winning all 3 of his bouts, 2 within The Heavyweight Tournament where he beat King Mo to win. Lauzon was released by UFC and has picked up 2 victories on the local scene. Brandao has recent victories over Johnny Case and Yusuke Yachi. Former UFC Lightweight Champion RDA officially steps into a Rizin ring for the 1st time when he takes on Yusuke Kasuya. After being dropped from the last card for Freirie to challenge Kawajiri, Lamas will now face Doo Ho Choi.

MAIN CARD

TAIGA opens the main card against Trent Girdham. After his debut 1st round victory, TAIGA will face off against Girdham who returns after 4 bouts away, 3 of which were victories. Naoki Inoue returns after his unsuccessful title challenge against Horiguchi. Horiguchi was set for about against Asakura after defeating Ben Nguyen but later failed a drugs test, which he still calls as a mistake. "Rumble" Johnsons last bout was a 36 second KO and will face a hefty step up in challenge when he takes on Marcos Rogerio de Lima. Former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman debuts after signing for Rizin under the radar. Weidman has lost 6 of his last 8 and will challenge Kato who has won 7 of his last 9. Herica Tiburcio challenges Ayaka Hamasaki for the Super Atomweight belt. Hamasaki stepped away from Rizin to return to Incivta where she lost to Lisa Ellis. Time will tell wether her confidence has now been knocked. The Main Event see's Kawajiri and Gamrot scheduled for the 2nd time. This bout has been in the works for a long time and many see Gamrot as the right person to dethrone Kawajiri who is on a 4 win streak.

UNDER CARD

Shtyrkov, Lungiambula, Rockhold, Petrasek, Krylov, Edilov, Kushagov and Stosic will all compete in a Grand Prix to become the next Light Heavyweight Champion after Jiri vacated when he left for UFC. Carlos Matos welcomes former olympic star Jordan Burroughs to MMA.

MAIN CARD

The Main event will see The Light Heavyweight Grand Prix finale. Second to that, Bellators MVP gets his wish as he takes on "The G.O.A.T Anderson Silva in the latters retirement match. Its a battle of veterans before that as Stephen Thompson and Rory MacDonald run it back, with Thompson winning the 1st bout many years ago. Tenshin looks to recapture his kickboxing record when he takes on Sasaki, aiming to turn his 2 MMA losses around. Swanson and Bermudez act as the filling between the aforementioned and Saiga vs Otsuka. Ito and Rahardian open the main card, which may prove to be Rizin's biggest event yet.

UNDER CARD

Former NFL star Greg Hardy signed for Rizin after being cut by UFC. Dana White infamously told Hardy to get more experience. He takes on former LFA Heavyweight Champion Kelvin Tiller. Sidelnkov and Bedorf have been trading a war of words for some time, the winner here is being considered for Justin Tafa's next challenger

Rizin FF officials have now confirmed the company's new directions. Rizin FF will no longer operate as a "super show", highlighting other companies stars. Instead, Rizin FF will now replicate the modern module that UFC has made so popular. With the huge success of Rizin 33 and 33.5, new champions were crowned and chapters were closed. Rizin 34 - Uprising has been announced for February, with March hosting Rizin 35. Officials have intensively looked at the current talent available from around the world, with veterans and rising stars considered. News breaks that The Rizin FF Super Atomweight division will close, with current champion Herica Tiburcio moving to Super Strawweight where she will unify the Super Atomweight Championship with a newly formed Rizin FF Super Strawweight Championship in the near future. Cuts have been made to the current divisions, which be vastly outweighed by Rizin FF's new signings. The current divisions, champions and full roster will be detailed below.

RIZINFF 34: UPRISING - ASAKURA VS SONG

One of Rizin FF's brighest stars, Kai Asakura has defended his Rizin FF Bantamweight Championship 2 times since defeating Ogikubo back at Rizin 22 - Yokohama. Asakura faces his toughest challenge to date when he takes on Yadong Song in the main event. Song comes in on great form after his 1st round victory over Ben Nguyen at Rizin 32. Veteran, and arguably one of the greatest of all time, Jose Aldo left UFC in late 2021 after his contract expired. Aldo was quoted as saying that he was burnt out and wished for a new challenge. Aldo will face Mikuru Asakura who is 9-0 inside Rizin FF ropes for the brand new Rizin FF Featherweight Championship. Martin Nguyen and Johnny Case will face off as both look to reclimb the Lightweight Rankings. A double debut in the Heavyweight Division as Maurice Green and Vladimir Daineko face off. Daineko was forced to withdraw from The New Years Eve events due to injury. Back to full health now, he faces a tough challenge in former UFC Heavyweight Greene who claimed a huge victory over Derrick Lewis back in 2020. Andre Harrison has previously called for a fight with Mikuru Asakura and a win against returning Rizin FF star Kron Gracie could earn him a shot at the belt, should Asakura defeat Aldo. van Soest had to skip Rizin 34 due to her opponent pulling out, Stanciu was talked about as a short term replacement but a deal could not be struck. The two will now face off with both on win streaks of 3 and 2 respectively. Cut from Bellator, Ricky Bandejas is still young and needs to regain form in the Bantamweight Division. He faces Yuto Hokamura who has won 3 of his last 4, the loss coming at his last outing in March at ACA 121. Tagir Ulanbekov and Adrian Mattheis compete in Flyweight action as Chelsea Hackett and Julia Ottolino open the nights proceedings.

- Mikuru Asakura suffers his 1st defeat in 9 competitive bouts

- Kron Gracie suffered his 4th consecutive loss since leaving Rizin FF in 2019

- Martin Nguyen, former ONE Championship Lightweight and Featherweight Champion once again expressed his desire to fight Won Sik Park

- Andre Harrison has told Rizin FF officials to put Doo Ho Choi infront of him, as facing Asakura who lost tonight would be a step in the wrong direction

- Christina Stanciu thanked Tiffany van Soest for a tough fight, with the latter announcing she has decided to step away from MMA

- Julia Ottolino also announced her retirement post event after failing to make weight

- Vladimir Daineko has left Rizin FF after his loss, his contract had not been tied down to an exclusive deal prior to the event with the fighter opting to join DEEP

- Plans for a 10th bout of the night were in the works between Shuya Kamikubo and Vuqar Keramov, however the former withdrew with a foot injury
