Event: Infamy</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;">

</span></p><p>

“What do you think she’s going to do?”</p><p> </p><p>

Lily Snyder is leaning against a small, round table with a beer bottle in her hand. Bootstrap Bill is sitting in a folding chair with his feet up. He’s nursing a small glass of whiskey on ice. He runs his hand through his long, blonde beard and chuckles at Lily.</p><p> </p><p>

“If this were my ship, I’d space that b****. Send him out of here.”</p><p> </p><p>

“That’s what you want to do. I asked you what she’s going to do.”</p><p> </p><p>

“What’s your point?”</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="rcefTy1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rcefTy1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

In another room, Jacqueline “Jack” Scott slumps down in her stool, staring at the laces undone on her boots. She balances on the cheap, near-antique stool, careful not to throw off the uneven stumps and fall forward in front of any workers that might walk in.</p><p> </p><p>

She peppers a tissue on her forehead for any excess blood. She grows tired of having to do it every five minutes, so she just lets it keep coming at a slow pace and is careful not to pick at anything. Jack ignores the itch in her fingers to scratch at her head and make things worse. An echo of her mother not to pick at scabs rummages its way through her head for a moment. Jack dreams of the days of old wrestlers like “Ol’ Hank” Henry Ames and Beastmaster Yamashita when they would open up massive wounds on their head, but there is no crowd in the backstage locker room to ooh and ahh at the blood, so needs to let it go for now.</p><p> </p><p>

Just then, an older blonde with a smile that sparkles through the sweat and runny makeup walks into the small dressing room. She shakes her hair wildly as she heads for her beat-up gym bag. It looks like it has seen more miles than a cross-country train ticket. She nods her head at Jacqueline.</p><p> </p><p>

“That was a nice finish, Ev,” she says as she tosses a white elbow pad on the floor.</p><p> </p><p>

“Thanks Suzanne.” Jack nods her head in respect.</p><p> </p><p>

The two dress in silence after that. Suzanne has a routine she has clearly honed in her years of experience, much more than Jack has, and it leads to her dressing much quicker and getting her gear all in her bag comfortably. Suzanne dresses and hoists her bag over her shoulder. She walks toward the door and turns to Jack.</p><p> </p><p>

“It was a good show for the first time.”</p><p> </p><p>

Jack nods her head. “Thanks.”</p><p> </p><p>

“I’ll see you at the after party? Buy you a drink?”</p><p> </p><p>

It was then that Jacqueline remembered what she had to do. The afterparty. If she was going to do what she had to do, she couldn’t wait around until everyone left. They’ll be going to the after party and Jack couldn’t do it there. Too much of a scene.</p><p> </p><p>

Suzanne repeats herself. “Ev? A drink at the bar? My treat.”</p><p> </p><p>

Jack begins to nod her head furiously. “Yes, yes. I’ll see you there.”</p><p> </p><p>

A hell of a week, Jack thought. The first show. Her new company. Sticking to the people who didn’t think she could run her own show. Who didn’t think she could run her own promotion. It could have had more style. It could have had more flair. Yet, it was the start of something special. In Jack’s lifetime, she has never seen a promotion quite like Chicago Championship Wrestling. That’s why it has to work.</p><p> </p><p>

It did work, even though it was all almost ruined by one continuous problem. One loose end.</p><p> </p><p>

Jack finishes dressing and walks out into the hallway. She sees Steve Flash, her trusted road agent close by. She summons him over. “Hey nice job out there. Just remember you don’t have to bleed buckets to get them to cheer, okay?” Steve sounds like a protective uncle.</p><p> </p><p>

“Steve, did you see Weasel?” Jack asks impatiently.</p><p> </p><p>

“Yes. Yes I did.” Steve responds.</p><p> </p><p>

“Great, where is he?” She asks, relieved.</p><p> </p><p>

Steve adjusts his glasses and points toward the door. “He just left for the afterparty ten minutes ago.”</p><p> </p><p>

Jack’s heart seeps into her stomach, creating that queasy feeling. Her plan of talking to Air Attack Weasel after her match was out of question. How is she going to talk to him in front of everyone without creating a scene. Over the last several weeks, she had come to learn about a lot of her new employees, and Weasel was not someone who did things discreetly. He was going to make a scene in front of everyone.</p><p> </p><p>

“Jack, what’s the matter?” Steve asks. “We had a great first show. You seem upset.”</p><p> </p><p>

Unfortunately, Jack already lost the time to mince words. She turns to Steve and answers, “I’ve never run anything before, and on the night of our first show, I have to fire Weasel.”</p><p> </p><p>

That moment right there is when Jacqueline “Alex Evren” Scott knew that running a professional wrestling company was going to be harder than she thought.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Company:</strong> Chicago Championship Wrestling</p><p>

<strong>Company Description:</strong> Jacqueline "Alex Evren" Scott was a rising star for USPW. After a booking disagreement with Rich Money, Evren and close friend Bootstrap Bill Harris split from the company and began work on Evren's dream idea for a company: Chicago Championship Wrestling. Run in Chicago's West Loop at the West Loop Theater, CCW wants to set the stage as a memorable experience. The theater has a classic 1920s Great Gatsby-esque feel to it. "Fast Fingers" Eddie Tucsan and his band play old-style covers of modern hits. Patrons that come dressed in 1920s-ish costumes get to sit front row. The interview stage is placed at a bar during the prohibition era. The bartender serves drinks as wrestlers give interviews. The big stable in the company is La Cosa Nostra, the Chicago mob. There's a lot to like in CCW.</p><p> </p><p>

Wow. Thank you to the render community. I appreciate how welcoming you are, how much you consider other players, and most importantly, how giving you are to the community. Your work as artists really inspires me to look with a different perspective at many characters in the c-verse. Well done!</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks to Historian. I've been playing TEW with him since TEW 2005. Over that time, I've had almost zero presence on the boards. However, since his work on <em>The Climb</em>, he's really done a tremendous job and gotten me into diaries as well.</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks to Eyreo. We often share our creations and she gives great feedback on anything I'm working on. It definitely helps to have someone who shares that creative outlet and is not afraid to give honest feedback.</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks to the readers! Thanks to Adam and anyone who worked on the game. I really think highly of this community and you all do an excellent job keeping this community going!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Chapter 2

Chicago Championship Wrestling

Wednesday, Week 1, December 2019

GIWVfm9.jpg

Bootstrap Bill Harris sits on a stool with his arms folded across the bar. His eyes struggle to stay open when a bright light hits the corner of his eye. It’s the door opening on the far side of the bar.

rcefTy1.jpg

Jack enters the building, bringing in rays of sunshine to disturb the dimly lit room. The door can’t close fast enough for Bill, who half-smiles when the door finally shuts and darkness begins to envelope the bar again.

“There’s a whole day happening outside, you know.” Jack reminds her friend as she sits down in the stool next to him. The bartender leaves another patron to check on Jack. “Just a water,” she winks at the bartender.

The bartender pulls a glass out from behind the bar. “You’re the woman who rented out this place for wrestling?”

Jack nods as the bartender hands her the glass of mildly cold water. “Just once a month. Come see us. 4th week of January. Saturday, January 25th. It’s going to be our first show. It’s a throwback to the 1920s. Great music, gangs, and wrestling. It should be a lot of fun.”

The bartender nods and goes back to the patron on the other side of the bar. Jack pulls out a magazine and dumps it in front of Bill. She pounds on the magazine with her index finger. “You read this trash?” she asks him.

nrsDMfq.png?3

“Many times,” he responds. “Sometimes I can’t put it down.”

“Oh really?” Jack argues. “Well did you read the awards? Read it out loud right now.”

“Lady, you’re going to have to wait a few hours for me to sober up to read anything,” Bill says.

Jack points to the awards pictures. “USPW made a clean sweep. This is what I was talking about.”

Jack backs up so Bill can stare at the pictures of Rich Money, Jamie Quine, and the USPW logo. “USPW always wins. What’s the big deal?”

“The big deal,” Jack starts, “is that you and I know first hand that this isn’t true. Three years they run a promotion into the ground; three years they graze over good talent so they can run with worse talent, worse wrestlers, worse storylines, and they still get the love for it. Rich is even getting praised for a good performance. You remember what happened the last time I was in his office. You remember what he said.”

Bootstrap takes a sip of his drink. “He is a handsome man in a suit, I’ll give him that. Just look at those broad shoulders.”

“This is why we have to keep pushing with CCW. We have to make this thing a success. I want you to find some great musicians, some great dancers. Between the poetry circles on the third floor and the bowling alley in the basement, this building has a lot of promise. On show night, it has to bring the 1920s back to life.”

Bill smiles, winks, and then looks back down at the magazine.

“You said you read this.” Jack notes.

“I did. The last article, anyway. Did you read that one?” Bill asks.

No, Jack did not notice the last article. She looks down and reads it aloud, “Bootstrap Bill in Fitness Magazine”? You did an interview?”

“My mom is going to be so proud!” Bill exclaims.

The bartender walks back over to Bill and Jack.

“Hey you said you run the building on the fourth week of January?” he asks.

Jack nods her head. “That’s right.”

“Are you working with that guy running the wrestling show the second week of January? He’s got the whole space rented out.”

Jack and Bill look at each other wide-eyed. They had left USPW. CCW was going to mean everything to them, and now someone is already trying to put them out of business before they begin.

Loving it so far! Your user character, and Bootstrap Bill, are not actual characters in the game though right?

Thanks for the positive feedback! This is my first diary, so I'm super excited. Yes, I created Evren and Bootstrap Bill (they are characters I created in my WWE 2k20 game). I had to make sure not to build them as unstoppable.

Evren is a willrock render. KingBison was nice enough to adapt a Larry Wood render into Bootstrap for me.

Chapter 3: Apples and Oranges

Chicago Championship Wrestling

Saturday, Week 1, January 2020

Two people are sitting on a veranda surrounded by the greater Chicago metropolis.

fW7SK6v.jpgrcefTy1.jpg

“So you want to be partners?”

Air Attack Weasel sits firmly in his seat, his hands pressed on the green table as if he were getting ready to shout an answer on The Price is Right.

“How did you hear that? Look, I just don’t want you to run your show anywhere near the West Loop,” Jacqueline answers. She barely touches the intricately, hand-crafted, roast beef deli sandwich in front of her, intent more on hearing a positive answer. An actual answer that she is aiming for.

“Why can’t we both run? This is a great area for a wrestling show.” Air Attack Weasel says as he takes a large bite of his hot dog. A drab of mustard dots his face, but when he goes to wipe it off, Weasel smears mustard across his face. Jack chuckles, but quickly changes gears.

“Because Dave --”

“Call me Weasel. All my friends do --”

“Yeah, I bet.” Jacqueline rolls her eyes. “You want to run one show here. One. You have the money for one show.”

“Well my hope is that it will lead to attracting some promoters so I can do future shows.”

“Right. Well, Bootstrap and I have some of that nice USPW money saved up. We can run for a bit. We have some time to get this thing over. Consistent talent, consistent venue. I don’t want to kill the area for wrestling. Look around. The West Loop is coming up. Fulton Market is booming. I can get a great deal on the West Loop Theater.”

Jacqueline waves her hand around to show the robust, revitalized marketplace. “You’re sitting in front of me eating a hot dog, but there’s a lot more to offer here. Phenomenal food. Great shops. A real essence of Chicago. The West Loop has the feel that I need for my promotion. The flappers and feel of the 1920s. It has everything. And that beat-up, three story, brick theater could be the epicenter of local wrestling for years to come. Not one show. It can’t be one show.”

“You sound like you don’t even want me to run my show here,” Air Attack Weasel says bluntly.

“No, I don’t want you to run your show here.”

“But you don’t want to be partners?”

Evren sighs. “You can work in the office. You can have a spot on the roster. I’ll figure you in to play a prominent role. Just don’t run your show.”

Weasel thinks for a moment. He wipes the mustard off his face. “Okay, deal.” Evren and Weasel shake hands.

Wednesday, Week 2, January 2020

hrIwbuY.jpgGIWVfm9.jpg

Art Reed is pacing around an old theater. A physical specimen of a man, Reed looks like he can carry the world on his back like Atlas. Bootstrap picks his teeth with a toothpick as he sprawls across several old-school, wooden theater seats.

“We’ll rip the seats out and move the bar so it’s right outside in the lobby.” Art explains. “Set up the ring where the seats were and the entrance-way can be the stage.”

Bill nods and sits up. “But what if we put the bar near the ring, then use it to host interviews. You win a match and go get a victory drink. Cut a promo.”

Art smiles and gives a big thumbs up. "That'd be a great idea."

Jacqueline enters the theater carrying a giant box of quality printer paper. “What do you guys think of bringing in Spillane and Malloy?” she asks.

“Busy,” Bootstrap replies.

“That’s kind of what everyone says first thing about them,” Art Reed adds. “They’ll work for pretty much everyone. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a match for the pizzeria next door if they were getting paid.

“Should I give them a call?” Jack asks.

Art puts in his two cents. “You might want to wait for them to wrap up some bookings. I can get you the McWades though. Good hands. Gentle enough as long as you aren’t a tree needing to be chopped down.”

It’s just now that Jacqueline notices a newsletter on a small, sturdy end table. “What is this?” Jack picks the newsletter up on the dusty tabletop and gives it a glance over.

MKu7wM7.png?1

“Weasel must have left it when he was here,” Bootstrap says. “I think he’s been talking to Joanne Rodriguez.”

Jack cocks her head sideways and her lip curls in an unpleasant demeanor. “Rodriguez? She already asked me about the company. I was thinking about bringing her in.”

“She retired,” Art says.

Jacqueline shrugs her shoulders. “I know, but everyone listens to her podcast. If we bring her in, she can get a bunch of you on it. It could expand the knowledge of our product. Get people talking. Besides, a 1920s themed wrestling show is high concept. It’ll need some explaining.”

Bootstrap says, “Well it sounds like Dave Wallace outright screwed ya’ there.”

Art Reed shakes his head, “Damnit, people. Names. Who is Dave Wallace?”

Bootstrap adds in, “Air Attack Weasel.”

Art Reed says, “I don’t really know the guy that well.”

Jack continues to read the newsletter. “Partner and friend?! Did you read this?”

Bootstrap crosses his arms across his chest. “I wish you had told me you were looking for legitimate partners. I would’ve done much better than the Air Attack Weasel.”

“He thinks we’re partners?” Jack balls up the newsletter and throws it toward a box of tablecloths. “I only gave him a job because he was going to run a spot show and kill the wrestling in this town.”

Art Reed, “Bootstrap” Bill Harris, and Jacqueline “Alex Evren” Scott sit down in the middle of the old theater in Chicago’s West Loop and begin to outline a wrestling show. In the top margin, she writes one word: INFAMY. It’s not just “a” show like Air Attack Weasel wanted to run. This is a show that will hopefully build a legacy. This should be a show fit for an old time theater with an old time atmosphere and a hot, excited crowd.

Jacqueline and her crew just had to get to the show without too much going wrong.

Chicago Championship Wrestling

Match Card for Predictions

(Winners compete in a fatal fourway for CCW Women’s Championship at next month’s show)

Evren/Brazzle/Chee/Blake vs Lost Generation/Good Lookin’ Stars

I'll go with the side that has three veterans and the boss.

CCW Men’s Championship: Art Reed vs Ernest Youngman

Pure gut feeling that the Pure Athlete wins here so he can pass the belt on soon.

Prime Time Jack Pryde vs Bootstrap Bill Harris vs Air Attack Weasel

I REALLY want to go with AAW here, but if BBH has some USPW history, he's the bigger star and will probably get the win.

The Ring Generals vs The Moonshiners

I love TRG, especially with King Bison's fantastic renders of them, but I also look at them like Paige Croft, they could be very busy in PGHW and the Moonshiners, while not nearly as talented, could be far more reliable.

Becca Barton vs Paige Croft

This is a toss up, but with Croft's 5SWW work, I see Barton as being more reliable.

Open Challenge: Big Bruiser Findlay vs ???

Raheem Stash vs Machine Gun Marino w/ La Cosa Nostra

I like big Raheem, but I sense some sort of shenanigans to get Machine Gun a win and start establishing your only stable.

The Anti-Establishment vs Crackdown

Air Raid Syren vs Pinky Perez

Perez has vastly more experience and is a far more established name. Syren is young and can eat the pin and learn.

Pepper Pelton vs William Hayes

Hayes is near the end of his career and is in a great position to start developing a young guy from the Great Lakes area.

I smell a Jarrett

CCW Men’s Championship: Art Reed vs Ernest Youngman

Sentimental Favourite to win

Prime Time Jack Pryde vs Bootstrap Bill Harris vs Air Attack Weasel

He's your Brutus Beefcake

The Ring Generals vs The Moonshiners

They must be too good to lose

Becca Barton vs Paige Croft

Big win for "B Double"

Open Challenge: Big Bruiser Findlay vs ???

Honestly forgot this guy existed since he left MAW

Raheem Stash vs Machine Gun Marino w/ La Cosa Nostra

The Anti-Establishment vs Crackdown

Two picks that are complete guesses

Air Raid Syren vs Pinky Perez

Perez could be a real star, she shouldn't lose to the rookie

Pepper Pelton vs William Hayes

How many times do we need to teach you this lesson old man?

Big fan of everything going on here so far, and it's always great to see a woman as the star of a diary.
