EPISODE 1

THURSDAY - JUNE WEEK 1 - 2020

One on One

Luchasaurus vs. Elias

In a Mayhem match that was spent mostly out of the ring, Luchasaurus had the upper hand for the majority of the match. Luckily, Elias was able to gain the win by hitting Luchasuarus with a bat that was hidden under the ring and then hitting Luchasaurus with a diving elbow drop and then pinned him at 12:31.

Elias wins.

The Iconics are backstage, both of them super excited that they are shoe-ins to win the Gemini Tag Team Championship. “We’re the only female tag team in this company,” Peyton says with a big smile, “Who else are they going to give them to?” Billie agrees as multiple other wrestlers walk by and the Iconics yell out to them that they’re walking by the soon to be Tag Team Champs and to show them some respect while they’re giving a promo. Rhea Ripley is seen rolling her eyes before walking past and the promo ends with the Iconics yelling at other wrestlers.

One on One

Pete Dunne vs. Finn Balor

Pete Dunne and Finn Balor had a great technical match. Pete focusing on small joint manipulation throughout the match, getting Balor’s arm early in the match. Both of them got great spots and hits, until Finn Balor hit a 1916 and pinned Pete Dunne after twenty minutes of great wrestling.

Finn Balor Wins.

Fatal Four Way

Cody Rhodes vs. Tommaso Ciampa vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Wardlow

This match stole the show. It was high energy and everyone worked really hard! Wardlow was the weak link and struggled to keep up at times, and botched a move that hurt Bray Wyatt’s fingers, but Bray seems to be okay. Cody and Ciampa had great chemistry that moved the match well, but Ciampa couldn't keep up with Cody and eventually powdered out. Wardlow was put out early, laying on the side of the ring recovering from a Sister Abigail. Cody and Bray locked into each other, both of them showing their impressive stamina and moveset, but Cody was able to hit the Crossroads and pinned Bray Wyatt with only seconds to spare.

Cody is NOVA’s first Milky Way Champion!

Five Way Elimination Match

Carmella vs. Nia Jax vs. Naomi vs. Sonya Deville vs. Natalya

The match starts off with everyone staring at each other and Nia in the middle. There seems to be a collective agreement that they have to take out Nia first. Nia starts getting attacked right away, punches are thrown and it’s hard to see who is hitting who. Nia bends over and snaps up, knocking two wrestlers - Sonya and Nattie - to the ground. She then grabs Carmella’s fist and headbutts her, sending Carmella away. Nia gives a smirk and then grabs Naomi’s shoulders and tosses her aside like she weighs nothing. Nattie stands back up and Nattie attempts to grapple with her, but Nia is just too strong and Nattie finds herself on the floor again. Nia surveys the arena and does a quick confident taunt, but doesn’t see Sonya coming up behind her with a chair. Sonya hits Nia right in the head with it, Nia falls to her knees and Sonya swings again. As Nia falls to the ground, Nattie and Carmella are back up on their feet and Nattie throws Mella into the corner and starts to headbutt her torso. Naomi grabs the chair from Sonya’s hands and tosses it out of the ring. Carmella hoists herself up and uses the ropes and her arms to escape out the ring. Nia starts to get up, slowly, but Naomi is too quick and hits a running knee to her face. Carmella slides behind Nattie and rolls her up, and successfully eliminates her. Nattie rolls out of the ring and lands on the ground, stunned that she was the first eliminated. Carmella turns around and Sonya Deville grabs Carmella and starts to do her combination punches and kicks. Meanwhile, Nia stirs and gets up again, this time coming up behind Sonya, and grabbing her, turning her around and kicking her. Sonya doubles over, Nia punches her in the face and Sonya falls to her back. Nia runs to the rope, rebounds off of it and does a running leg drop right on Sonya’s neck. She goes for the pin and Sonya is eliminated.

Nia stands up, taunting at Sonya and doesn’t notice Carmella behind her. It’s too late when Nia turns and realizes she’s running at her and Mella big boots Nia right in the face. Nia is down and out, Naomi quietly watching. Mella throws her body ontop of Nia’s holding her for the pin. The ref counts it and Nia just lays there, unable to move and gets eliminated. Carmella stands up and Naomi and her stare each other done before running at each other, both of them grabbing one another’s hair as they try to wrestle the other one down. Naomi breaks the hold and delivers a hard chop right against Mella’s chest. Mella recoils and attempts to chop back, but Naomi ducks and then headbutts her right in the gut. Mella doubles over, and Naomi runs to the ropes and says Carmella’s name. Mella squares up and then Naomi hits the Rear View on her. Carmella falls to the floor and Naomi slaps down against the mat and pins her down. Mella kicks out of so Naomi changes tactics and does an Argentine Leglock instead. Mella tries to fight out of it, but can’t and starts to slap the mat and that’s it. It’s over.

Naomi is the first Super Nova Champion for NOVA wrestling!

The show seems to be over and after a minute of celebrating Naomi’s win, the screen abruptly cuts to a dark hallway. Bray Wyatt rises from the floor with a chilling grin. He doesn’t say anything for a moment and then says something in a quiet, but deep voice. It’s unintelligible, but he repeats himself, “I don’t like to be messed with, Cody,” he starts, his voice menacing and his smile fading, “And neither does my friend… you’ll be meeting him very soon.” Then the screen goes black right after some red text pops slides behind Bray’s name.

I couldn't wait. I was super excited to post this! Thank you to Historian for giving me all the advice and helping me write some of the fights until I get used to doing this. I'm still deciding if I want to write out the matches like the Women's Five Way Elimination Match or more of a summary. Thanks for reading!

Darn I didn’t get online quick enough tonight to throw in a prediction on the Nova show (I missed Naomi winning).

Great start by all of you, good luck moving forward.

I was itching to post, since Historian and KingSlender got to post their shows already, so I posted early.

Thank you! :)

<p><strong>RG:</strong> Alright everybody, welcome back to Wrestling Onlooker Live, Ryan Galvarez here with Wave Seltzer and… oh gosh… When WWE moved NXT to Thursdays against AEW Dynamite, we called it “The Thursday Night Wars” but this has really gone to the next level now, we’ve got <span style="text-decoration:underline;">three</span> more <span style="text-decoration:underline;">brand new</span> companies running their shows on Thursdays! That is a lot of wrestling to keep up with, but it’s a sign the industry is moving along despite blows like COVID19 and the backlash of #SpeakingOut that have turned a lot of people away from wrestling. Before we dive into this, I wanna know, Wave, you know what, let’s play Watch-Tape-Check Out with these shows.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> I mean… you know… It’s, okay, let’s break this down so I can explain. When the cards for the first shows were announced, I’d say… watch Sisters of Combat… tape Nova Wrestling and check out OPW highlights? But now, having watched all three of their first episodes, like, if you asked me now how I’d do this next week, I’d still watch Sisters of Combat, but I’d tape OPW and just check out Nova Wrestling stuff at some point. It’s a kind of, you know, like, what they promised versus what they delivered and promised for the next episode, type of, uhm, situation.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> That’s interesting. Alright, break down each show for us starting from Sisters of Combat, who seem to be consistently on top for you.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Well they announced four matches for their show, two of them being title matches, three singles contests and a four way. Not too little or too much. What I particularly noticed was there were no names that felt forced or like, you know, being there to fill a spot? Which is more than I can say for their non-wrestling staff.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> I picked that up too, their on-screen non-wrestling staff, at least. Felt pretty WWE to me.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Well that’s partly because they’ve got the NXT announcers in Ranallo and Phoenix, but like, Punk… I get Punk, he’s involved with the top of the company, he’s got that nostalgia pop, at least for a while and he’s a great talker… but Angle kinda confused me? I’m not quite clear on what his role is? He’s not a commissioner or on screen authority figure because clearly that’s Punk… Is he just an interviewer? And if that’s the case, why Angle? Like, they could have saved on some money and gotten someone else… And, you know, it’s like, not just the money, but, but also, Angle has starpower. So he sort of draws attention away from the actual stars? He made me feel a little burned up on my attention and excitement, even though he wasn’t bad. Then we got AJ Lee as well, but at least she announced she will be wrestling.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> What about the matches?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Well, you know, it’s… it’s like… Okay, so first match, Candice LaRae versus Bianca Belair. Great opener, exciting, fast paced… I was kind of waiting for Bianca to do her hair whip spot, you know? That’s like her signature thing and it’s pretty unusual so I felt a little cheated out she never did that, but again, that might be part of her new character, this is not NXT any more. Which was also evident in her post-match interview, you know? Like, what she said sounded like a New Japan thing… instead of freaking out or anything about her loss? That was interesting.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> I enjoyed the following match, Asuka versus Cheerleader Melissa. NXT had something great going on with Asuka and dropped the ball once she debuted for the main roster. I’m really hoping her win over Melissa is a step towards re-building her undefeated streak and just that persona, that presence…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> That match was longer than I expected it to be, too, you know? Like, if it’s a squash… but it went on for what, fifteen minutes? Which is longer than the four way, and the four way was a title match, keep in mind!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> Well they did the whole “team up against the powerhouse” thing, which is also what Nova Wrestling did with Nia Jax in their main event by the way. Meiko Satomura is a fantastic wrestler and a legitimate wrestling legend, but I know she has her own promotion in Japan, she also wrestles elsewhere…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Satomura is a great choice as first champion to legitimize the belt. It’s kind of the same story as Jericho becoming the first ever AEW Champion, you know? Like, he was a little old too for a heavy schedule and a constant stream of fast paced matches or long epics, but people know him, he feels legit as a champion and he draws eyeballs to the product before he can drop the gold. I feel like Satomura is a similar case.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> At least we got one champion by the end of the night!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Yeah it’s odd to end your first ever main event on a double DQ, especially when it’s for your main title… but, but, you know… okay, so this is clearly building up their main feud, alright? They had two of the horsewomen on a promo with Charlotte and Sasha earlier, they did bring up Shayna Baszler and then you had the post-match fight, so they’re probably hinting at a longer rivalry there.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> Don’t get me wrong, it was a great match…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> It could have been better… but, I mean… these two are great wrestlers, we know that much. In terms of in ring skill, technical wrestling… they got a solid foundation on the basics… but like, this was a brawl! This was almost a hardcore match and it was different… refreshing even. It felt…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> I was a little thrown off at first, but then I was like “oh, Tessa did feud with Sammi Callihan on Impact Wrestling!” and then it made sense!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Tessa’s done that and Charlotte has been in wars as an entitled overconfident character… Sasha’s had those series of matches against Bailey in NXT, I mean, there’s a lot of potential for some hard hitting matches here and it seems that’s going to be the case if they’re gonna feud with the MMA women. Which brings me to my last point, hooking fans in for future episodes. I’d say SOC laid a lot of groundwork for the future. We got like… Bianca Belair’s eventual return to form… hopefully Asuka building up a str, well, rebuilding her streak, really… a bunch of matches between the Horsewomen, Charlotte, Sasha and Tessa Blanchard… oh and AJ Lee with Nixon Newell in a tag team titles tournament. That’s like a ton of content going forward.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> So what about the other two, they switched the way you said it.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> I like the idea of OPW focusing on tag teams… I mean, it feels original, but it’s also a throwback… kinda like NWA Power pulled this off, but I’m not sure they managed the execution as well, because, while watching the show… you know, seeing who was on there, it felt a lot like WWE guys in an AEW style environment, if that makes sense?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> Called by Ring of Honor crew, I mean Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuiness…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Yeah yeah yeah, for sure, like, I don’t mind them as announcers, it didn’t throw me off or anything… but Kevin Kelly was a little overused? Like, his face was on a lot, constantly leaving the booth to get in the ring for an interview, he did that two or three times during the show and it’s a bit too much… Definitely need an interviewer to do that, but like, not someone as big as Kurt Angle because then you go on the other end of the spectrum like I said before and it’s distracting.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> Alright, walk us through the show, Wave. We got, uhm… the Good Brothers, who I really just hope they’d just call Gallows and Anderson again…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Like, these two have been a big force in New Japan but didn’t do quite as well in WWE so maybe that name change… but it was a pretty good match against the Butcher and the Blade. Good opener, really set the tone and you could tell they’d put a lot of thought into what their first ever match would be. I mean, that could have easily headlined a show any night.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> Speaking of which, both this and the main event were part of another tournament for tag team titles… like why the F**K is everyone keeping us in the dark about this? Who are the participants? What are the brackets?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Well they’re new promotions, they’re still figuring this out, who’ll stick with them and all that, so they probably don’t want to commit now and risk not delivering later. But seeing those two teams in the opening match and then a promo by the Revival, Revolt, whatever you wanna call them… it felt a lot like I was watching AEW Dynamite. I mean, Kris Statlander was in the next match too and she’s been appearing for AEW…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> It was good to see Toni Storm again, feel like she’s been kind of tucked away in NXT UK for a while…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Then we got a promo by Bryan Danielson, which is more ROH vibes like you said, seeing him be interviewed by Kevin Kelly too and this was probably the only building up they did for the future, alongside the tag team tournament, looks like they’re building up to a technical spectacle between Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> I never knew how much I wanted to see this match until they mentioned it. Blew my mind.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Next up was Cardona versus Hennig, or Zack Ryder versus Curtis Axel, if you prefer, for the TV title… I mean… it wasn’t bad… but it felt a lot like they were trying to make something out of people who didn’t do much in WWE.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> Flashbacks of TNA there?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Well, not quite, you know, see, there’s this, like… okay, so TNA picked up former WWE stars and pushed them to the moon over their homegrown stars, right? OPW apparently wants to build these people up slow, same way AEW has this premise of “we’ll show you what these people who were misused in WWE can do, given a proper stage and some good writing”. I feel like they want to build up, Hennig especially, like that but it’s a slow process. It takes time.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> What about their main event?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> I appreciate Shelton Benjamin’s work and Brock, well, he’s Brock, of course he was in the main event. It wasn’t a bad match per se… but I think, like, it was more down to featuring well known wrestlers over the actual wrestling being great? Kinda like Lesnar’s run as IWGP champion. Though I did like seeing him alive and doing more than just spamming suplexes and F5s.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> So, before we move on… What was it that made you switch between OPW and Nova Wrestling before and after their shows?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> That’s got more to do with Nova than OPW, really… like, OPW were more or less what I expected but Nova didn’t quite live up to the original hype?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> That’s a great segway into talking about the Nova show then. What was it about it that…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Well they had some great matches lined up. Elias and Luchasaurus was an interesting and original matchup, I wasn’t sure how much comedy there was going to be in this one but there was no way it could end up being bad. Pete Dunne versus Finn Balor was my personal pick to steal the show and I guess it would have if they had more than twenty minutes, but it was still a great match… but that was where the show kinda hit its peak, you know? Like, men’s fatal four way, some big names, but like… lacked some creative spark? Which is a shame, because I know at least Cody and Bray have a ton of ideas each. Same with the women’s match. Like, they were all great matchups, but they were all kinda… there? I don’t know, maybe they should have saved some to build them up before actually hosting them… The storytelling wasn’t really there either, like, you know, why are they fighting or, more important maybe, what are those matches leading into for next episode, you know?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> I reminded me a lot of WWE’s booking. Throw a bunch of people in a match for no reason at all other than to give them something to do.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> I mean, it’s worse when WWE does it, because they’ve been in business for so long. I can excuse Nova Wrestling because this was their first show, they’re still finding their footing and setting up stuff. But like, even their promos… Iconics bragging and being annoying… I mean, it wasn’t bad, but it was pretty basic… like, creatively, taking the easy route and not putting much work into it… plus it didn’t really set up any match or hint at a specific feud… that’s kinda like the backstage Chris Jericho videos where he’s just taking stabs at random bystanders and being annoying but funny… I mean, same vein but the Iconics are nowhere near Jericho’s status and skills…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> I kinda liked the Bray Wyatt promo at the end though. And yeah, he’s more or less being the Mr. Roberts/Fiend character again, but it’s one of the hottest gimmicks right now! If it’s not broken, don’t try and fix it!</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Yeah that was directed at Cody so we got a feud there, especially since Cody has the title now… plus it promised a new ally for Bray… You know what, it struck me after the show was over… Remember when Bray was feuding with Roman Reigns and he did that “anyone but you Roman”?</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> Yeah, another case of WWE dropping the ball…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> So this felt like it could be a different take on that one… I mean, Cody has the title, you know, and he’s Dusty’s son… same way Roman was Vince’s golden boy… they could be doing another take on that story and hopefully do it right this time. I mean, I’m pretty sure Bray’s new ally is leading towards a tag team match and I’m guessing Dustin shows up to team up with his brother…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> Okay, so, numbers, got em right here… Sisters of Combat had the best ratings, by far… OPW had the best rated show...</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> Which is largely due to Brock’s popularity…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> And Nova Wrestling’s somewhere in the middle…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WS:</strong> But that was only their first show, give them a month or two…</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>RG:</strong> Yeah we’ll probably look at this again after they’ve had a month’s worth of shows…</p><p> </p><p>

Rock music kicks on through the PA system, the crowd starts cheering, and the show begins from a packed Los Angeles venue.

“Hello and greetings from Los Angeles. Once again, I’m Mauro Ranallo, alongside “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix and we are here to bring you 90 minutes of nonstop professional wrestling action courtesy of the Sisters of Combat. Last week, we saw the announcement of a tag team tournament for the vacant championship. That will be underway here this evening.

Beth adds, “Mauro, there are a lot of makeshift tag teams and alliances that seem thrown together. It will be interesting to see who can coexist and come out on top.”

CM Punk’s music hits and the Second City Saint comes through the curtain to great applause.

“Welcome back. It’s been quite a week since our first show. We appreciate all of the feedback, good or bad. Our goal is to become the best wrestling show on the planet. With that said, I’m happy to introduce the Sisters of Combat women’s tag team tournament for the vacant titles.”

knA02UO.png?3

I would like to point out that Evie is dealing with an injury and has been replaced in the tournament with Bianca Belair. Good luck to all the competitors.”

CM’s music hits and he waves to the fans.

Mauro says, “Well there you have it. The tag team tournament is underway.”

Beth says, “I’m excited to see who will come out on top. Charlotte and Sasha certainly seem to have the competitive edge, although they don’t have a tremendous amount of tag experience.”

Jessamyn uses her size and wrestling skills to take down Laura James and go for an armbar early. If it isn’t for Heather grabbing Laura by the leg and pulling her toward the rope, it would be an early submission.

Heather tags in and uses her mat skills to turn this into a pro wrestling match instead of a mixed martial art ground game. Heather tags back in Laura and they do a double snapmare/whiplash combo.

Marina tags in and the Baes do another great job cutting the ring and half and keeping Shafir from tagging in her partner. With tag team prowess and an array of double team moves, the Baes do an excellent job overcoming the immense heart of Duke and Shafir and pick apart the mma specialists.

In 13:25, Heather Monroe pins Marina Shafir with a standing moonsault.

As the Baes celebrate their victory in the tag team tournament, Duke and Shafir head backstage. They are met by Tessa Blanchard. The Queen of the Carolinas calls them over for a private conversation.

“I wanted to thank you guys for helping me out last week. I saw your match. Don’t worry too much. The Baes have been doing this for awhile. You girls showed a lot of promise. You’re like a bask of crocodiles. Stick with me. We’ll make a meal out of this.”

Jazzy Gabert versus Meiko Satomura ©

7yjONcQ.jpgqk8dPxr.pngS381pvH.jpg

EReMSnU.png

Meiko quickly ducks underneath Jazzy’s attempt at a grapple and begins chopping down the big tree with swift kicks to the back of Jazzy’s knee. Jazzy falls to one knee and Meiko bounces off the ropes and comes back full force with a spinning back kick to Jazzy’s jaw.

The Alpha Female that she is, Jazzy is able to eventually shrug off the champ and take Meiko off her game with a vicious chokeslam. Jazzy begins throwing Meiko around the ring by her hair.

Meiko really seems out of sorts when she is unable to lift the mighty warrior for her death valley driver. However, Meiko is able to pull of the victory when she avoids Jazzy’s running splash to the corner. Meiko jumps off the top rope with a crossbody that keeps Gabert down for the three count.

In 11:14, Meiko Satomura pins Jazzy Gabert to retain the SOC Battle-Tested Championship.

“Ladies and Gentleman!” Kurt Angle announces. “I’m here with AJ Lee and her partner for the Sisters of Combat Tag Team Tournament, Nixon Newell.”

IXgekpS.jpgEbGO6QC.jpg

AJ says, “Kurt, I wanted to take this opportunity to personally thank Nixon for being my partner for this tournament. There isn’t another person alive that I would want to go to war with.”

Nixon replies, “AJ, I’m just flattered you chose me. I promise I’ll give this everything I have. I’m not arrogant enough to guarantee a victory, but I think we’re going to take those belts.”

AJ adds, “I believe in AJ Lee and Nixon Newell. I think these fans do too!”

The crowd erupts as AJ and Nixon throw their hands up in the air in celebration.

Shotzi Blackheart versus Jordynne Grace

EReMSnU.png

This is a tale of speed versus strength. Shotzi hits Grace with a lot of quick attacks. Her attempt at a crucifix pin is countered into a modified samoan drop by Grace.

Shotzi grabs Jordynne’s arm, runs to the ropes, jumps off the second rope, and goes for a spinning hurricanrana. Grace uses her strong base to stop Blackheart in her tracks and slam her to the mat with a tremendous powerbomb. 1-2--kickout!

Grace picks up Shotzi, but Blackheart is able to fight back. Shotzi faints a low kick into a high kick that catches Grace in the skull. She climbs to the top rope and leaps off with a senton bomb.

In 12:10, Blackheart pins Jordynne with a senton bomb.

Charlotte and Sasha might have the star power, but this match is an absolute brawl, and there is no clear advantage from a fighting standpoing. Rosa and Shida are willing to stand toe-to-toe and throw heavy strikes and take them right on the chin. So much so that Charlotte hits a Natural Selection on Shida and is absolutely shocked when Shida kicks out at 2.

Rosa and Sasha brawl into the stands. Rosa grabs a fan’s beer, takes a big drink and throws the rest in Sasha’s face.

The match builds to a big finish with all four in the ring and referee Rick Knox struggling to keep control. He doesn’t notice when Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir come down to ringside and get into an argument with Sasha while her partner suffers in the ring.

In 17:54, Rosa pins Charlotte with the Gory Special.

Sasha and Charlotte are furious. Charlotte begins to blame Banks for the loss, but Sasha recovers by blaming it all on Duke and Shafir, who leave with Shida and Rosa, waving goodbye.

Sasha swipes a microphone to keep the heat off of her from Charlotte.

“Blanchard! I know you sent your new goon squad out here to distract us. I want you out here right now!”

Instead of Tessa, CM Punk comes out and agrees to make a match next week between Sasha Banks and Tessa Blanchard

Outlaw Pro Wrestling has officially released the brackets for the World Tag Team Title tournament. The first round of the sixteen team tournament is scheduled to take place over the first eight weeks of Bunkhouse TV, with the second round scheduled to take place over the television shows in August and the semi-finals and finals scheduled to happen at the very first OPW Pay Per View.

jHJgd8c.jpg?1

There are a few teams in this tournament that may be unfamiliar to the average viewer at home.

Hollywood High Life is the team made up of The Miz and Johnny Outlaw -- a multiple-time championship-winning duo that has seen singles and tag success. The Collectors are friends and avid wrestling figure collectors Matt Cardona and Brian Meyers. The Block is the team formally known as the Street Profits.

As you can see, the sixteen team tournament is stacked with talent and the team that manages to survive the gruelling tournament will truly deserve the right to call themselves the World Tag Team Champions.

The tournament will continue this week on Bunkhouse TV when the Briscoes and SCU go toe to toe in what is sure to be an action-packed matchup.

That's not the only thing scheduled for this week's Bunkhouse TV. Joe Hennig will look to make his first defence of the Television Championship, plus AJ Styles and Io Shirai will be in action!

At the top let me just that the Good Bros got a terrible draw and seeding, #8? Clearly they need a good manager to advocate for them :)

We come up from the opening titles on the South Austin Gym for the second straight week for Bunkhouse TV. The crowd is making a lot of noise as the cameras cut through the people, focusing mostly on the people in the first two rows. There are a lot of cowboys and bikers and rough looking people. The camera settles on the announce team of Kevin Kelly.

oE8FyVT.jpgSj0HSVA.jpg

Kelly, “Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the back to Outlaw Pro Wrestling and Bunkhouse TV -- the most exciting one hour of professional wrestling on television. Last week, we made our television debut and what a show it was. If you missed it, you missed the beginning of history. Tonight the World Tag Team Title tournament continues when SCU and the Briscoes go toe to toe. AJ Styles and one of the hottest young prospects in all of professional wrestling, Alexander Hammerstone will go one on one but before we get to that, let me introduce my broadcast partner. He’s one of the great professional wrestlers of the 21st Century, Nigel McGuiness. Nigel, how are you feeling in our second week?”

McGuiness, “I feel great. Last week was wonderful. It was such a great night of wrestling and I couldn’t be more excited for tonight. This is hard-hitting professional wrestling action. We separate the men from the boys and the women from the girls here. Only the tough survive here in Outlaw Pro Wrestling.”

Kelly, “I couldn’t have said it better myself. Our first match of the night will be Joe Hennig attempting to defend the OPW Television Championship for the very first time tonight against former Olympic wrestler Chas Betts. Before we get there, we are going to hear from “The Pride of Scotland” Drew Galloway. Let’s take it to our colleague Arn Anderson, who is filling in as interviewer for this week -- and this week only -- who is standing by backstage with Drew. Take it away Arn. ”

FbgE17b.jpgv8riAVN.jpg

The camera cuts backstage where Arn Anderson is standing with the 6’5” Scottish grappler, Drew Galloway. Drew looks like a million bucks standing next to the former Enforcer of the Four Horsemen. Arn explains that he is filling in this week as a favor and is happy to do that. He asks Drew why Drew is here in OPW. Drew explains that for the last near two years, he has heard a guy going around calling himself the Real World’s Champion. He’s seen him on local news stations. On the internet. Everywhere. People have all wanted to know how Drew feels about Nick Aldis -- and Drew came to OPW because it is the one place, the one place now that he can challenge Nick Aldis and find out who deserves to be the World’s Champion. Who deserves to really call themselves the measuring stick of professional wrestling.

Chas Betts [formerly Chad Gable] versus Joe Hennig ©

We come from the backstage interview to the ring where the entrances are being made. Chas Betts has been known professionally as Chad Gable, but upon leaving WWE he reverted to his real name. The Minnesota Native is a former Pan-Am Games Gold Medal winner, a gold medal winner in the Dave Schultz Memorial tournament, in addition to winning the 2012 US Olympic Games trials. Joe Hennig is not an accomplished amateur wrestler but at 6’3” he has a considerable size advantage over the 5’8” Betts. Betts wanted to keep this match a wrestling affair. He went for several takedowns early in the match -- each one was successful but the stronger Hennig was able to get back to his feet. Each time he got took down, Hennig got more and more frustrated, eventually leading to him striking Betts with a closed fist and getting a warning from referee Jason Ayers. Hennig ignored Ayers and went on the action. He controlled the match for the next several minutes before Betts countered a Standing Front Facelock into a Northern Lights Suplex that almost got a three count. Hennig looked stunned as Betts hit him with several more suplexes that rocked the bigger Hennig. Betts went for a German Suplex, but Hennig kept ahold of the ropes to keep himself from getting suplexed. He threw in elbow into Betts mouth to create some separation and then a big running knee lift set up the Fisherman’s Suplex and Joe Hennig had his first successful defence.

Finish Joe Hennig defeated Chas Betts in 9:31 by pinfall with a Fisherman’s Suplex to retain the OPW TV Championship. Joe Hennig makes his first successful defence of the championship.

We leave the ring and are taken backstage where Arn Anderson is standing again, this time with former two-time NWA World’s Champion, “The National Treasure” Nick Aldis. Arn asks why Nick was willing to leave the NWA to come to OPW and Aldis explains that he did everything he could in the NWA. He took it as far as it could go. He made the NWA World’s Title matter again. He made the NWA brand relevant, because the NWA was him. He was the premier pro wrestler in the world. He was the Standard in professional wrestling and he came to OPW so he could climb a new mountain and prove that he was far from an ordinary man by conquering this challenge. Arn asked how he felt about what Drew Galloway had to say earlier in the night and Nick just smiled. He said he’s known Drew a long, long time. They’re from the same Kingdom after all, but if Drew wants to dance with the best, all he had to do was ask.

Io Shirai versus Mandy Sacc [formerly Mandy Rose]

The second match of the night pit the Japanese sensation, Io Shirai, against Mandy Sacc. This was a match that was designed to get Io Shirai over as a dangerous competitor. While Mandy Sacc has developed as a pro in her four year career, the thirteen year pro Shirai is vastly more experienced and talented. Shirai controlled most of the match. She flew through the air. Mandy did everything she could. She pulled hair and scratched eyes and ran and tried to avoid Shirai at all costs, but Shirai had an answer for everything. Shirai hit a big moonsault and was able to get the victory.

Finish: Io Shirai beat Mandy Sacc in 13:01 by pinfall after a Moonsault.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles versus Alexander Hammerstone

The third match was a very competitive match up. AJ Styles, who has been one of the best wrestlers on the planet for a long, long time, had his hands full with the young powerhouse Hammerstone. It was a story of experience versus power. AJ used his knowledge to wrestle Hammerstone to the mat and put himself in position to hit several big strikes -- but Hammerstone’s raw power was overwhelming and he was able to take over the contest. He hit a big back body drop on AJ that AJ sold like a million dollars. He hit a big knee drop. Simple, but effective offense, but AJ was able to absorb it all and fought back. He hit his trademark spinning back fist and pele kick. He hit a Springboard Forearm that stagger Hammerstone and set him up for the Styles Clash and AJ got the win.

Finish: AJ Styles defeated Alexander Hammerstone in 9:43 by pinfall with a Styles Clash

We are backstage once again with Arn Anderson. This time he is joined by Zack Sabre Jr. Arn gets right to it and asks Zack if he has any thoughts about Bryan Danielson’s challenge from last week. Zack just smiles. He says that if he was Bryan Danielson, he’d want to wrestle him top. Of course Danielson wants to get in the ring with Zack -- Zack’s the best technical wrestler on the planet and he will happily teach Bryan Danielson a lesson in two weeks. He wants to make sure Danielson has time to truly prepare for a match with someone of Zack’s calibre.

SCU [Daniels & Kazarian] versus The Briscoes

The main event of the evening was the third match in the World Tag Team Title tournament. SCU is an incredibly accomplished tag team -- Kazarian and Daniels’ version have held four tag team titles together as well as been two third of a six man championship. The Briscoes have held nineteen tag team titles together and been two thirds of three different six-man championship winnings duos. This was experience. SCU and Kazarian are incredibly polished wrestlers and if there were ever two men that embodied the name Outlaw Pro Wrestling, it was the Briscoes. These two teams know each other very well and went at right from the opening bell. The Briscoes were wild and brawl-heavy and brought the fight to SCU -- who fought back and didn’t give up an inch of ground despite giving up some size. The two teams went back and forth. Daniels hit an Angel’s Wings on Mark Briscoe that got a near fall. He hit a BME on Mark that got another near fall. Mark managed to make a tag and Jay Briscoe took over and he hit Daniels with a J-Driller and that was all she wrote.

Finish: The Briscoes defeated SCU in 13:51 by pinfall when Jay Briscoe hit Christopher Daniels with a J-Driller.
