Spring Stampede opens with a video feature on the WCW World Heavyweight Title match, Kevin Nash’s potential involvement as well as the United States Title match. The video ends by focusing on Piper’s haunting words that he will do anything to win.

We come in live to the sold out Alamodome as pyro explodes and 30,000 screaming fans come to life. Tony, Bobby & Dusty welcome us to the show where tonight Sting will defend his WCW World Heavyweight Title against Rowdy Roddy Piper. After some hype, they pitch us to the opening match here at Spring Stampede.

CHRIS BENOIT AND STEVE MCMICHAEL VS SATURN AND RIGGS

This match is a war from the start but after dumping Benoit on his head on the floor, Raven’s Nest dissects Mongo for a lot of the match. When McMichael is able to nail Riggs with a Tombstone, Saturn rushes in to try to stop Mongo from tagging but fails. Benoit takes over and soon it’s another Donnybrook. Saturn posts Mongo but when Raven’s goons try to double team Benoit, Chris sends Riggs to the floor. Saturn goes for the rings of Saturn but Benoit reveres and locks on the Crossface. Riggs goes to rush in the ring, but as soon as he enters he is tripped from behind by someone fan. The “fan” takes off their hat and it’s

WOMAN! The crowd comes alive as she holds onto Riggs’ foot while Saturn has no choice but to tap out to the Crossface.

Mean Gene is happy for Benoit, Mongo & Woman and he is at the entrance set as Mean Gene welcomes to San Antonio - the 13 time Heavyweight Champion of the World, The Nature Boy Ric Flair and the Enforcer - Double A Arn Anderson. Ric and Arn come out just as Mongo, Benoit & Woman are walking up the aisle. Everyone meets and then hugs and then Benoit, Mongo & Nancy leave.

Gene tells Ric that the time is up. It is time to tell us what he and Double A have been up to. Ric says that six months ago, he was forced to do something that he regrets. And tonight that will begin to be rectified. When Gene asks what that was, Ric says he will let Double A tell you what’s up.

Arn looks at the camera and says “Over a decade ago excellence was personified in four men who ran roughshod over this business. Well times aren’t what they were. We have been beaten. We have been battered. But we’re as deadly as ever. We’re a little bit older, we’re a little bit wiser, and that fire is still here…the fire in the belly that shoots up your arm and makes your hand form this symbol. (4 fingers are held up)

This century is coming to an end and it’s time for the Horsemen to ride again. The best this business has to offer doing what they do best….which is whatever they want to do. Right now there are two. Soon, there will be four. Saddle up, Gene ,heads are gonna roll.”

Ric and Arn put the four fingers out for the world to see as Gene excitedly announces that apparently the Horsemen are back.

We go back to a few weeks ago and see how Rey Mysterio, Jr nearly won the Cruiserweight Title and then to last week on Nitro where Mysterio challenged Eddie in a ladder match and put joining La Familia as a stipulation if he loses.

Backstage Mean Gene is with Rey and asks Rey what is he doing risking being a lackey for Eddie Guerrero? Rey says that this is the price he had to pay to win back what he loves most. Rey had to risk it all. And Rey says he is a man with nothing left to lose, so Eddie should be very, very scared about what is to come next. Rey walks off as Mean Gene tells us that the Cruiserweight Title Ladder Match is next.

LADDER MATCH---IF REY MYSTERIO JR LOSES HE JOINS LA FAMILIA

As expected this is a punishing car crash as both men desperately try to win the Cruiserweight title. This match sees both men do spectacular spots off the ladder including a memorial spot where Rey had the belt, Eddie pulls the ladder out from under Rey, Eddie catches Rey but Mysterio turns it into a Hurricanranna. But when Rey climbs again, Chavo Guerrero grabs Rey by the legs and drags him down. Chavo tries to slam Mysterio’s head into the ladder but Rey reverses that and posts Chavo into the ladder. Rey dumps Chavo out of the ring and climbs again. Just as he gets up there, Eddie is up as well. Both men’s swing at the top of the ladder with haymakers. Eddie is able to do a superplex from the top of the ladder taking Rey down. Eddie climbs up the ladder and takes the belt to win.

Post match, Eddie and Chavo hug and gloat celebrating the win. Rey looks upset realizing what he now must do. The announcers tell us that starting tomorrow on Nitro from the Reunion Arena in Dallas - Rey must join La Familia and do Eddie Guerrero’s bidding.

We go to a video promoting the Triangle Match for the WCW World Tag Team Titles. The video shows us G.T.T.’s reign of terror since arriving in January and capturing the Tag Team Titles over the Steiner Brothers. It then shows how we got to the Faces of Fear & Jericho/Lynn. The Triangle Match for the Tag Team Titles is next.

G.T.T. © VS THE FACES OF FEAR VS JERRY LYNN AND CHRIS JERICHO

G.T.T. bails to the floor at the start of this match and lets the Faces of Fear and Jericho/Lynn fight it out. But when Meng and Barbarian drop Jericho and have this match in hand, LoMonaco & Hughes attack from behind. From there, this match becomes more of a brawl as all the teams trade control before Jericho and Lynn are able to dispatch the FOF but Jericho turns and immediately gets hit with a Death Drop forcing him out of the ring. Lynn is left to be finished off and he is the one that takes the Final Deathdrop for the three count and successful title defense of G.T.T.

In the back Alex Wright is with Rick Rude. Rude does a promo saying that Curt Hennig is a shell of what he used to be and that Alex Wright is the future. And that after tonight, the Wunderkind will be done with that old fool and move on to greater things. Rude says he is not afraid of a shark cage and if Hennig thinks that Alex needs Rude to win, Curt Hennig is in for a Rude Awakening.

RICK RUDE IN A SHARK CAGE

CURT HENNIG VS ALEX WRIGHT W/RICK RUDE

At first Rude refuses to get into the cage until the referee tells Rude that if he does not enter the cage, Alex Wright will lose this match by disqualification. This forces Rude to give in.

Hennig beats the crap out of Wright for a lot of this match while Rude shouts encouragement from the Shark Cage and tries to get out of it. After Wright kicks out of a Hennigplex (barely) and after Hennig and Wright collide. Rick Rude throws a pair of brass knucks down to the ring, but Hennig intercepts them. The ref seeing this, is preventing Hennig from using the knucks. When the ref goes to hand the knucks to a ringside attendant, Alex kicks Hennig low and nails a German Suplex - Bridge for the 3 count.

In the back Mean Gene is with Diamond Dallas Page who says that Kimberly is safe and tonight Raven pays. This is more than a match for the United States Title. Raven messed with Page’s wife and Page’s home. Thankfully nothing was damaged after the little stunt from last week - the Nest just wanted to scare Page - but that is not good enough. Later tonight, Raven pays and he will feel..the...BANG.

We go to a package showing the issues between the Hitman Bret Hart & Syxxx of the nWo. Their collision is next.

BRET HART VS SYXXX

The beginning of the match sees Syxxx trying to escape the clutches of the Hitman and generally being a weasel before Bret finally gets his hands on him. Once Bret takes control, he beats down Syxxx with a targeted and excellent attack by the Excellence of Execution, but the Hitman cannot secure a victory. Bret makes a mistake when he goes for a second rope elbow drop because Syxxx is allowed to move out of the way. Syxxx nails Bret with lightning quick kicks and eventually goes for the Buzzkiller. He is able to lock it in as Bret scrambles to try to get to the ropes and eventually gets a foot into the ropes forcing a break. When Syxxx goes for it a second time, Bret does a reverse and a step over and goes for the Sharpshooter. However, Syxxx pokes his thumb in Bret’s eye and when Bret blindly stumbles around, Syxxx is able to roll Bret up and hooking a rope so that the ref does not see as the ref counts...1….2…..3. After the match, Syxxx quickly bails from the ring and the Hitman is furious.

We go to the announce booth where Tony, Bobby & Dusty take us through the entire Raven - Diamond Dallas Page feud including the disgusting threats against Kimberly and Page’s home. This wild brawl goes all over the Alamodome as Page beats the ever loving snot out of Raven. They battle backstage where Page is backdropped onto a windowpane but DDP will not stay down. When Raven goes for the Evenflow near the entrance area, Page reverses it into the Diamond Cutter. The ref tells Page that he must get Raven to the ring, so Page loads Raven onto an anvil case and pushes him up the aisle. As Raven is loaded into the ring, the Nest attacks Page on the floor. This brings out Mongo & Benoit who hit the ring to help but are taken out by the numbers game of the Nest. After Page drops Reese with a chair to the head, DDP sets Raven up for the kill shot - the Diamond Cutter. Page goes for it, Raven reverses it into Evenflow DDT for the pinfall and the title.

Post match Reese lifts Page up while Raven sets up a chair into the sitting position. Reese does a double handed chokeslam bomb onto Page onto the chair which crushes the chair. Medical personnel and officials race into the ring to tend to DDP as Raven and his Nest leave celebrating with the US title held high.

We go back to Tony, Bobby & Dusty who are shocked and heart broken at what we just saw. They speculate that Page could be hurt and wonder if he will miss any time going forward. Certainly DDP is now heartbroken that he has lost his title. And speaking of heartbreaking, we turn to the stunning betrayal of Sting by Rowdy Roddy Piper. Roddy Piper was the man doing the random attacks on various WCW wrestlers. And he did it all to get closer to Sting under the guise of an ally. It all comes to a head next as the Heavyweight Championship of the World is on the line in a match where truly Anything Goes.

We then go to a video package highlighting Piper’s arrival in WCW and feud with Hogan in 1996 and 1997 where Piper said he is not with WCW and not with the nWo, he is out for himself. The video highlights Sting’s rise to the title. Then switches to 1998 where the attacks began. Then we see the betrayal by Roddy Piper of Sting as well as the antics of Kevin Nash who promises to be here tonight and may cash in his so-called “Golden Ticket”. The video ends with Sting’s threat from Nitro last week.

True to his word, Big Sexy Kevin Nash makes his way down to the ring and goes to an area where an arena attendant has opened the guard rail. Nash walks over to a special seat waiting for him at ringside and highfives the fans nearby. Nash sits down arrogantly, knowing that this could be his moment.

Buffer then makes the introductions and the World Title Match is on.

ANYTHING GOES

As soon as Sting enters the ring, Piper spits at the champion who responds immediately with a haymaker and a flurry of punches. The Hot Rod has to bail from the ring but the strategy falters because Sting continues the assault on the floor. When Piper runs back into the ring, the Hot Rod is able to use Sting’s aggression against him and drop a knee on the back of Sting’s leg as the champ slides into the ring. From there Piper is working on Sting’s knee so that the Scorpion Deathlock cannot be applied. Piper wraps Sting’s leg around the ring post on the floor and nails the champ with a chair. Referees and medical personnel rush the ring but Piper scares them all away with a chair and wallops Sting over and over with it. Piper orders the cover….1….2…..Sting kicks out. After ducking a swinging chair, Sting is able to blast Piper in the head with the chair for a two count. When Sting begins his comeback, he gets Piper into a corner and limps for the Stingers Splash but the champ’s knee buckles before he ever gets there. From there Piper is able to lock in the Sleeper Hold as Sting’s title looks to be slipping away. Just before Sting passes out, the champ grabs the chair and swings it backwards connecting with the top of Piper’s head. Piper gets up as Sting, on one leg, nails the Scorpion Death Drop for the 1...2...3.

WINNER BY PINFALL AND STILL WCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: STING

After the match, an exhausted and clearly injured Sting begins to celebrate his title win as a defeated Piper leaves. Suddenly the nWo start making their way down to the ring and begin to surround the ring. Kevin Nash smiles like man that just won the lottery and steps over the guardrail.

Sting prepares for a fight on one leg as the nWo circle the ring and on Nash’s order begins to climb up onto the ring apron. Kevin Nash himself gets up to the apron and begins to enter the ring as Sting is ready for a fight. At the last moment, Nash yells “Naaahhhh” and steps down to the floor as the nWo does the same at the exact same moment.

Nash and his buddies back away laughing and mocking Sting with Nash saying “not yet Stinger”. Sting looks around not trusting the situation but is still the WCW World Heavyweight Champion as Spring Stampede goes off the air.

Either Syxxx's pop gain has been huge, or she had to fire everyone just to cover the $100k she had to pay Bret to take the loss.

Dang some good stuff here! Loved that Raven took the title from DDP. Pac beating bret hart? First time in awhile where I was genuinely shocked by the booking outcome, I love it. To top it all off you have sting beating piper to retain the title. Absolutely amazing.

WCW Monday Nitro Live! May Week 1, 1998 - Episode #136– “Bowery ”

WCW Monday Nitro opens with still photos from last night’s WCW/nWo Spring Stampede. The photos show Raven winning the WCW United States Championship, Syxxx defeating Bret “Hitman” Hart and Sting retaining his WCW World Heavyweight Title. The photos also show the ending where Kevin Nash and the nWo pretended like they were going to cash in on Sting before backing away.

We then go into the arena where the pyro explodes and the Reunion Arena comes to life as WCW Monday Nitro is on the air.

The Nitro girls, again minus Kimberly, dance in the ring to open the show and the routine ends with a pyro explosion at the ring posts.

Tony, Mike & Larry welcome us to WCW Monday Nitro and we are 24 hours removed from WCW/nWo’s Spring Stampede where a number of events went down. We have a new WCW United States Champion in Raven and after the match Reese attacked Diamond Dallas Page. DDP is not here tonight as he is in a San Antonio hospital where he suffered back injuries. Later on tonight, Raven will be here in our featured contest when he defends the US title against Steve “Mongo” McMichael. Sting is still the WCW World Heavyweight Champion after he defeated Rowdy Roddy Piper but after the match, Kevin Nash and the nWo teased attacking Sting. In the end, they backed down. We are expecting to hear from Big Sexy at some point tonight. Also, Rey Mysterio, Jr. lost to Eddie Guerrero last night at Spring Stampede in the Cruiserweight Title ladder match and here tonight, Rey must join La Familia. But let’s go to the ring with our opening contest on Nitro.

JERRY LYNN VS MENG

Jerry Lynn tries to overcome the raw power of Meng and get the Samoan off his feet. After surviving power moves and chops that would have most men crying, Lynn finally lifts Meng up into a superplex from the top rope. But Meng gets right up and when Lynn stands up, Meng locks in the Tongan Death Grip. Lynn passes out from the pressure and the ref awards the match to Meng, however the Wild Soman will not let go of his grip. Meng is an unleashed animal. The ref warns Meng and counts but he will not release. Ultimately, the ref reverses his decision, calls for the bell and disqualifies Meng who does not care and won’t release his grip.

WINNER BY DISQUALIFICATION: JERRY LYNN

Backstage, Chris Jericho is leaving the medical area after checking on Jerry Lynn. He runs into Scott Hall who mocks Jericho for his loss last night and for watching his boy get beat up. Hall says that at one point the nWo considered offering a spot to Jericho, but it's clear that Chris does not have the killer instinct. If Jericho wants to see what that looks like, watch later tonight when Scott Hall is in action. Hall smirks at Jericho and bumps into him as he heads to the nWo’s locker room while Jericho glares and says “I’ll do just that.”

Mean Gene is in the ring and he tells Dallas to please join him in welcoming the Best There Is, the Best There Was and the Best There Ever Will Be...the Hitman, Bret Hart.

Bret says that while he is happy to be back in Dallas, he is pissed off. Everyone watching last night at Spring Stampede saw that Syxxx did defeat the Hitman, but he didn’t defeat Bret like a man. Instead, Syxxx chose the easy way out. Syxxx chose to poke Bret in the eye and then hold onto the ropes to win that match. Gene then shows us still photos confirming that happened.

Suddenly we hear Syxxx up in the crowd going “waahh waahh waahh” and Syxxx saying that Bret can whine all he wants because that’s all that Bret is good for - whining. He whined up north and used his whining to get him a job in WCW and all of it is an excuse because Bret Hart is simply not the man that Syxxx is. And that is why he lost last night.

Bret says, fine lets go one more time then if Syxxx is such a man. Slamboree is in 20 days and it is in the very back yard of where they both came from. So how about at Slamboree it is Syxxx against Bret Hart one more time and this time we’ll see how much of a “man” that little punk is. Syxxx laughs and says no, claiming that he beat Bret already and doesn’t need to again.

This brings out James J Dillon who steps into the ring and says that’s not so. You see that match last night was under a contract executed by World Championship Wrestling. Which means that the rules of WCW must be followed. And while the referee’s decision is final, it is clear that Syxxx broke the rules and he is thereby contractually obligated to either agree to the rematch at Slamboree or WCW will be forced to reverse the decision and declare Bret Hart the winner. Syxxx is furious but he has no choice and agrees promising that in twenty days, Syxxx will humble Bret Hart once again. Bret says that at Slamboree, Bret is gonna shove that microphone down Syxxx’s skinny little throat.

Bret and JJ shake hands as Gene tells us we have ourselves a match. He says to stick around, when Nitro comes back - the TV Champ Goldberg will be in action. Nitro is hot, it's from Dallas and we’re LIVE on TNT. Don’t you dare go away.

Nitro returns as Rey Mysterio, Jr. walks into the Reunion Arena. As soon as he enters, he is met by Chavo Guerrero, Jr who has a shirt for him that says “Eddie Guerrero Is My Favorite Wrestler”. Rey is told that they are so happy that he’s here, Eddie is in his locker room and later on tonight, when Eddie is in action - Rey is expected to be out there with Eddie...wearing that shirt. Chavo motions for Rey to follow him, who does with his head down.

Mr. Hughes succeeds early in grounding Goldberg with some power holds but that only lasts about a minute or two.The tide turns when Goldberg does a Death Valley Driver on Hughes and then Spears the big man. After the Jackhammer, it’s all academic. Goldberg wins again.

After the match, there is a commotion when this man jumps from the crowd and slides into the ring with a chair:

Goldberg doesn’t see what is coming next and turns around to get demolished in the head with a chair splitting Goldberg wide open. The announcers tell us that this is Brian Adams who doesn’t even work here and wonders what the hell is going on here? Adams is on top of Goldberg and lays haymakers into the TV champ’s busted head before standing Goldberg up, who is out on his feet, Adams bounces off the ropes and does a running boot right to Goldberg’s face and the action causes Goldberg to go over the ropes and fall to the floor. Goldberg is out cold as officials come rushing down to the ring to check on him. Adams, celebrating, leaves the way he came - through the crowd.

We go back up to the announce table while we watch Goldberg come to and be helped while Tony, Mike & Larry are stunned. They take us back to last night at Spring Stampede and show us how Rey Mysterio, Jr. lost to Eddie Guerrero. When Nitro, Rey apparently must accompany Eddie to the ring and he will do so as the Cruiserweight Champion defends his title against Hector Garza. That’s next on Nitro.

The countdown to hour #2 happens just as Eddie is coming out with Rey and Chavo leading the way. Mysterio is in fact wearing Eddie’s shirt and looks disgusted. The pyro hits as hour #2 begins just as La Familia enters the ring.

Pretty good high flying match. Eddie dominates early but Hector hangs in and eventually Garza gets control. Garza nails a twisting plancha for a close count and that brings Chavo to the ring apron. He distracts the ref and Eddie orders Rey to hand Eddie the belt. Rey, reluctantly does so after some scolding, and Eddie blasts Hector with the title for the pinfall.

Eddie goes to leave but then tells Rey to hold the ropes for Eddie. Rey glares but again does as he is told and Rey is ordered to walk behind Eddie as they leave the arena.

The announcers put over how humiliating this is. But when we return, Kevin Nash will be on hand and we are told will address Sting. Don’t go anywhere.

Nitro returns to Kevin Nash leading out the troops in celebration. They come into the ring where Nash says that last night they had Sting worried that San Antonio would be where the run would end. Instead, the nWo just wanted to have a little fun. But the games are over because Nash says he hopes that Stinger is watching right now wherever he is. Two years ago this month, Scott here waltzed in on Nitro and changed the world. And two years ago, next month the Outsiders made their first statement in Baltimore. Baltimore is an important town for the Outsiders. Baltimore is also an important town for the Stinger. And the Great American Bash is an important event for the Stinger and the nWo. It is at that event, in that building where Sting’s era began. And so it is fitting, because it will be at that event and in that building where it will all end. Because the games are over, and we’re gonna do Stinger a solid and announce when the nWo will choose to cash in the “golden ticket”. It will be Sunday Night - June Week 3, 1998 - Live in Baltimore and it will be the Great American Bash. On that night, Still will have to defend the World Heavyweight Title and on that night, “we promise you, Sting - your legacy and your title dies. Forty-eight days, Sting. Scott pretty much dominates this match. Dragon has some hope spots but this is a big showcase for the nWo founder. Soon an Outsiders Edge finishes the job for the 3 count.

Fast pace and high flying lucha match except for when Dean is in the ring as he employs his ground and pound style. The finish comes when Dean locks on the Texas Cloverleaf on Psychosis and Super Crazy hits a powerbomb on La Parka at the same time. The ref counts Crazy’s pin first for the 3 count.

This is a brawl that begins when Mongo immediately spears Raven through the ropes as the champ steps into the ring and the two brawl on the floor. Mongo nails Raven with several chair shots and even does a Terry Funk style pull-down piledriver on the floor. But when Mongo rolls Raven into the ring, The Nest swarms and beats the hell out of Mongo on the floor while Raven recovers. The ref is powerless to stop it given Raven’s Rules. When Mongo is thrown back into the ring, Raven goes for the Evenflow DDT but Mongo drops to a knee and gives Raven a low blow. Mongo spikes Raven with the Tombstone but Kidman flies off onto Mongo’s back before he can cover. Again the Nest swarms and soon Raven recovers again and nails the Evenflow for the pinfall.

After the match, Saturn goes to attack Mongo but Raven orders him off. Raven prepares to attack when Chris Benoit runs out with Woman. He gets into the ring and starts brawling with Raven. Soon, Mongo is back up and they start fighting off the Nest until it appears the Nest will swarm again.

Just as it appears the Nest will attack, Ric Flair & Arn Anderson come out with tire irons in their hands. The Nest sees this as Ric and Arn hand a tire iron to Benoit. The Nest moves back and over the barricade as Mean Gene comes into the ring. Gene asks if the Horsemen are reformed at this moment and Ric says “just helping some friends” before they go back to the floor.

Gene grabs Chris Benoit and asks if the Crippler has anything to say. But before Benoit can even speak, Woman grabs the mic and says that she has something to say. Woman has sat back for a year and watched the Horsemen be dismantled. Watched as her man has had to go his own way. And watch as that cult freak has taken over WCW. Well its time to right all of this and so that’s why she returned. She returned to help the man that she loves, but also to issue a challenge on his behalf. (Woman turns to Raven who is sneering in the crowd). If Raven is in fact a man, instead of a scared little child, he will answer this challenge: at Slamboree - put that title on the line against the Crippler and end this.

Benoit high fives her and concours that he wants a title match, Raven and the Nest are in the crowd and finally Raven says “IT’S YOUR FUNERAL” Gene says apparently the match is made. At Slamboree Chris Benoit will challenge Raven for the United States Title.

Gene thanks us for watching as Benoit, Woman, Mongo, Flair & Arn hug. Nitro goes to black with Raven and his Nest leaving as Nitro goes off the air.

Also, here tonight Rey Mysterio Jr. & Eddie Guerrero will be in action. We will also hear from the nWo, but first lets go down to ringside where Mean Gene Okerlund is standing by.

The guys come out with Ted DiBiase to a loud pool and Gene says that it has been nearly two months since they have been gone, injured at the hands of G.T.T. but they are back tonight and promised the champions that they had a challenge for G.T.T., so what is it? Rick says that it is simple, the challenge is for G.T.T. to defend their titles against the Steiners one more time in thirteen days at Slamboree.

Before Scott can speak, Mark LoMonaco & Devon Hughes come out laughing. LoMonaco says that Rick must’ve hit his head and knocked out whatever few brain cells he had left. Hughes says that there is no reason that G.T.T. would say yes to a rematch. The Steiners got their asses beat at Uncensored. The answer is no and the champs start to walk away.

Scott calls the champions cowards and says they knew that G.T.T. would not be men and say yes, so we will up the ante. The Steiners vs G.T.T. at Slamboree and if the Steiners cannot win, they will never again challenge for the titles as long as G.T.T. are the champs. LoMonaco and Hughes stop and turn around and look at the Steiners and then talk it over for a second before coming back to Gene.

They tell Rick & Scott that this is tempting but this is the counter. If the Steiners want these belts back and want one last shot at Slamboree, this is the ONLY way the champs say yes…..”when G.T.T. beats your ass, you are done as a tag team for good. That’s it! You win, you’re the champs. You lose, the Steiners are done.” The Steiners are taken back and Ted and Rick shake their heads no, but Scott grabs the mic and says “you’re on”. G.T.T. cockily walk to the back while Rick and Ted look at Scott like he has lost his mind. Mean Gene tells us to stick around, Nitro will be back with our opening contest after this time out.

Raven directs the Nest to beat up Dinsmore until officials and Benoit come running out. The Nest hops the barricade but Benoit gives chase as they flee to a nearby exit.

Macho says at Slamboree, Booker T will learn what happens when you jump the nWo. And Elizabeth promises that she will get a piece of Booker as well. Oooooh yeah.

Yuji drops some stiff shots early on that stuns the new star, but soon Adams kicks Ngata in his face and it stuns the strong style competitor. From then on Adams dominates and soon nails a Heart Punch that sends Ngata to the match clutching his chest. A three count soon follows.

It is not long before Goldberg comes racing down and a wild brawl is about to begin, one that has officials racing to the ring to separate these two behemoths. The officials get them to separate corners but then both men break free and go at it. All hell breaks loose and JJ comes out with half of the locker room as Goldberg tries to kill Adams. The wrestlers get into the ring and finally separate the two as Nitro goes to a quick commercial.

The Nitro girls dance in the ring to kick off Hour #2 and then Tony, Mike & Bobby welcome us to the second hour where tonight, Bret Hart will take on Alex Wright, but lets go to the ring with Syxxx against former nWo member, Curt Hennig.

Syxxx comes out and meets the Nitro Girls as they’re heading to the back. He openly flirts with the girls and they largely ignore him while Syxxx makes his way to the ring.

SYXXX VS CURT HENNIG

This is a terrific back and forth match that spans a commercial break as Hennig beats the hell out of his former nWo team member before Syxxx gouges Curt in the eye and takes control. Eventually, Hennig comes back and nails the Hennig-Plex, but this brings Konnan out to try to break up the pin attempt.

Hennig sees it coming and decks Konnan as soon as he is on the apron. The distraction is enough though for Syxxx to sneak behind Hennig and lock in the Buzzkiller. Hennig tries to fight but eventually has to tap out.

After the match, Syxxx gets on the mic and says that he will be watching the main event tonight because when Wright is done with Bret, Syxxx may just say hi. Syxxx promises that Bret will not make it to Slamboree in one piece.

But to make things interesting, how about next week The Outsiders challenge Jericho & the Stinger’s best friend, Flexy Lexy to a match on Nitro from Norfolk? Hall and Nash mock that neither is “man enough” to say yes, but the Outsiders will be there. See ya next week at The Scope.

EDDIE GUERERRO AND REY MYSTERIO JR W/CHAVO GUERERRO JR VS HIGH VOLTAGE

Eddie refuses to compete for most of this match and each time that Rey takes control and has Kaos or Rage ready for a pin, that is when Eddie demands a tag in. When High Voltage begins to take control, Eddie bails and tags in Rey. Eventually Eddie and Rey do get control, dispatching Kaos from the ring and Chavo hands his uncle brass knuckles before getting on the ropes to distract the ref. With Eddie holding Rage, the champ throws the knucks to Rey and orders Rey to nail Rage. After hesitation, Rey does as told. Eddie then orders Rey from the ring as Eddie covers Robbie Rage for the three count.

After the match, Eddie demands a microphone and tells Rey that Rey must hold it for the champ. Rey looks like he might punch Eddie, but reluctantly holds the microphone. Eddie says that since Super Crazy apparently wants a match with Eddie Guerrero, Eddie assumes it’s for the Cruiserweight Title. So here is what will happen. Super Crazy can have that match at Slamboree…..if he beats “my new buddy here, Rey next week on Nitro.” Eddie pats Rey on the head who is even angrier, but the match is made. Next week Rey faces Super Crazy on Nitro. Eddie again demands Rey to open the ropes as the three members of La Familia leave ringside.

BRET HART VS ALEX WRIGHT W/RICK RUDE

Alex Wright really shines in this Nitro main event as he more than holds his own against the Hitman. At one point Wright takes full control of the match and nails a crossbody from the top rope for a two count, nails a DDT on the floor and rolls Hitman in for a two count and even hits his German Suplex-Bridge for a two count. But the Hitman keeps coming back for more and when Bret gains the advantage, Rude tries to interfere but referee Randy Anderson orders Rude to the back. Wright uses the distraction to try to lock Bret in the German Bridge again, but Bret kicks Alex’s leg out from under him, locks on the Sharpshooter and wrenches back. Wright scrambles for the ropes, but has no choice but to tap out once Bret drags Alex to the center of the ring.

WINNER BY SUBMISSION: BRET HART

After the match, Wright bails in shame as Bret Hart celebrates to the crowd but there is soon a commotion as Syxxx makes his way to the ring. Hart sees Syxxx and invites him in. Syxxx acts like he is going to accept the challenge, but then shakes his head and says “see you in Worcester”.

Bret calls Syxxx a coward while his Slamboree opponent heads to the back. Bret calls for Syxxx to return for a fight as Nitro goes off the air.
