WWF 1993: Diary Of A Madman

Entry #1:

For those who may not know, my name is Vince Russo (aka Vic Venom), and here's some cliff-notes from how I've now become the head booker of the World Wrestling Federation, as of 1/1/93:

September 1992

- As Blockbuster began to corner the video market, I decided to close down my self-owned video store. With no clue what to do next, as a long time pro-wrestling fan who earned a degree in journalism, I ultimately made the decision to write a letter to Linda McMahon (figuring she'd be more easily accessible than Vince himself), offering my services to help write and edit the WWF Magazine.

- Shortly thereafter, she responded, informing me there was an opening.

October 1992

- I flew to Stamford to meet with her, and much to my surprise, Mr. McMahon himself.

Once he'd asked for my credentials, gave me the job and we spoke for a few, he wanted to know my honest opinion of the current product, which needless to say, caught me off guard. So, as per request, I gave him my 100% HONEST opinion - society is evolving, and it's leaving the WWF behind.

Upon him telling me all about this new TV deal he'd signed with the USA Network for a primetime show called Monday Night Raw, we really got to talking. He knew this was a real chance to take the company to new heights like he'd done once before. Needless to say, we went on about the possibility of an edgier product overall, being more character-based, instead of clear cut good guys and bad guys. We both agreed that concept would still be implemented as a whole, just a bit more loose. After all, this is the primetime slot - not the Saturday morning cartoon slot.

- Our next meeting consisted of simply ironing out a few details. There were some things I threw his way that he respectfully declined, however I was able to talk him into doing this show LIVE, and taking it on the road - and if that didn't work after a few months, he can always pull back and pre-tape two shows at a time in the Manhattan Center, like he'd originally planned. This was big.

November 1992

- By now, he'd broken the news to the entire company that yours truly would be the new head writer/booker, effective January 1st, and that while still being a professional wrestling show at it's core, we're also now in the weekly primetime episodic television business, meaning this monumental breakthrough would levitate us towards a little more of an edgier product.

- From there, I'd proceeded to meet and speak privately with each and every superstar on the current roster, where some came off as unhappy, to say the least. And understandably so. Between the recent steroid allegations, and now a live primetime show, one could only imagine how hard it must be on these guys having the business they know and love going through a radical change. Vince assured me that he'd made up his mind however, therefore he has my back, should anyone have any major issues. Though it won't happen overnight, a major overhaul is in-play and yes, we're both aware that it's a major risk.

December 1992

- I'm beginning to realize how stressful this job may actually be down the stretch, being quite a few of these guys have been a bit standoff-ish and outright disrespectful. We have an intriguing roster at the moment, with a good mesh of legends, veterans, young up-and-comers, and both great and cartoonish-hokey gimmicks all-around. Everything we decide must run through Mr. McMahon himself, but from the vibe I'm getting thus far, it's some of his biggest stars who seem to be the most reluctant, so we'll see how this unfolds.

- Those closest to Vince, namely Pat Patterson, Gerald Brisco and Bruce Prichard have been nothing but kind and generous - but I just can't shake the fact that something rubs me the wrong way. It's like I can sense the fakeness in each of them, and am praying my initial judgement is wrong. His son Shane on the other hand, seems like the coolest and most down to earth dude on the planet. Go figure.

- As the time draws near, me, Vince and those aforementioned above all get together to organize our first show. My plan is to keep a journal of all events, and everything happening as it does. This is my journey in the World Wrestling Federation, and with any luck, it will last more than a freaking week bro!

Champions list and roster coming next, followed by the first card.

Just giving this a cheap bump since I've updated/edited the reserved post. Gonna do another Russo diary entry covering a few more bases and have the first card up later tonight.

Quick question (any feedback will help): should I keep signings/firings and all kinds of events like that more of a surprise? Or mention them in Vince's journal as they happen? Or maybe mix it up as I see fit?

I'm excited to see what you see do with this. The early 90s were the prime of my wrestling watching years.

I'd say keep any major signings a secret, but no harm in alluding that something big is coming.

I will say this: I'm two weeks in and there's already been a bunch of drama that's thrown a nice wrench into some bigger plans, so hope I can somewhat live up lol! Thanks for the feedback as well.

I'm definitely here for this.

Hell yeah!

I'm excited to see where you go with this. I'm interested to see who you sign and how you handle the guys that made the attitude era what it was who aren't on the roster yet (Austin, HHH, Rock, Foley etc). Good luck on this

I'm gonna try and find a good threshold with that, being it's pretty easy to grab almost anyone and everyone, but there's a few you might be seeing sooner than later - and a few who might be mentioned in the journal cause the boss wouldn't let me meet their money demands lol

Vic Venom's Snake Pit

Entry #2:

Boy, I'll tell ya. This Vince McMahon cat is pretty hard to get a read on, bro!

A Few More Things We've Come To Terms On:

- Logo change. I like the modification. Somewhat newer-age while still keeping a cool, vintage look.

- Announcing structure. Vince wanted to go with himself, Randy and standup comedian Rob Bartlett for Raw. But, after putting over to the moon how GREAT he's been with Heenan and Lawler on SuperStars throughout the month of December, that this trio would be more fitting, he, Shane and Pat agreed. Brisco and Prichard on the other hand seemed none too thrilled. Truth is the two of them berating him the entire time is primetime entertainment at its finest!! Furthermore, the SuperStars announce team will now consist of Monsoon, Savage and Lord Alfred Hayes. And as far as Bartlett goes, we've decided to let him call some dark matches for a bit, to help evaluate his performance/chemistry with others before throwing him on live television. Something tells me this was a wise choice.

- Raw start date and runtime change. He ended up speaking USA into replacing the final episode of Prime Time Wrestling with the first ever Monday Night Raw, a week early, running under the "New Year... New Rules!!!!" slogan. The alternative was "New Year... New Show... New Rules!!!!" but Vince liked the short and sweet version better. The more I think about it, the more I concur. Raw was also supposed to be a one hour broadcast, but since PrimeTime ran for 90 minutes, all parties involved agreed it'd be best to do the same going forward for Monday Night Raw. More work - more time to fill our 'something for everybody' voids. I'm in.

- Raw main event. We decided to go with the "BLOCKBUSTER Main Event" slogan as well, being it's a co-main event rematch from this past Survivor Series. Vince's idea, with everyone else voting yes. Bizarre choice of words, seeing as "Blockbuster" Video put my store, and hundreds of others mind you, out of business recently. He also recommended I go under the name Vic Venom for all my scripture and news pieces going forward, and to use Vic Venom's "Snake Pit" as the title, both for magazine purposes and elsewhere - which according to his son Shane, is a direct shot at recently departed Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Something to do with Jake calling a finish-audible last minute in his WM8 encounter, with The Undertaker, then parting ways with the company. They're currently in a small legal battle over "The Snake" trademark Jake's using in WCW right now, so "The Snake Pit" seems to be his poke-back retaliation - much like he seems to be trying to test me, with all his minions cheering on the word "Blockbuster" as if he was walking on water. Childish, bro!

A Few Roster Reminders/Personnel Thoughts:

- Throughout and toward the end of 1992, the WWF lost an unprecedented amount of major names, for various reasons. Notably; Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior, and The British Bulldog, all due to the steroid trials. Not quite sure however exactly why The Legion Of Doom, Sid Justice, and Jake Roberts left, other than what these dirt sheet marks are reporting from the outside looking in. And allow me to say, just from my short time popping in and out of here these last few months, I've already come to see, with my own eyes bro, about half the stuff they put out there has a small element of truth to it, and about 20% of that is actually true.

- That being said, I do believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel. With ultra-charismatic, international star, Bret Hart capturing the WWF Heavyweight Title, and young, cocky up-and-comer, Shawn Michaels winning the Intercontinental Championship, each for the first time in late '92, plus this new year/new, groundbreaking show premise we're riding now - the wheels seem to be in full-motion for monumental change. A new era. A new generation.

- With industry legends like the incomparable "Macho Man" Randy Savage, the one and only "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, and of course The Perfect One himself - alongside the red hot, newly-turned fan favorite, The Undertaker... Mr. Fuji's MASSIVE, unbeaten BEHEMOTH from Japan, Yokozuna... the widely popular, also undefeated war eagle, Tatanka... the suave, gold-covered big man from Miami, Razor Ramon... the yet to debut, highly accoladed Steiner Brothers, and even this absolute weirdo Doink, whom has a strangely outdated clown gimmick for sure, but there's something about the seemingly demented aura around him that comes off as very Jack Nicholson Joker-esque, - I truly believe the stars will align through this vision. The WWF is also in a major hunt for new, young, hungry talent, to bring in for this eventual attitude adjustment and overhaul.

- Finally, Shane had recommended speaking to Jerry Lawler about potentially using the USWA in Memphis as a developmental territory for anyone we have, or may sign, that may not exactly be ready for live television and/or the big time. A brilliant idea. Needless to say, they obliged, so as long as they could use a major WWF star of their choosing two times a year for their biggest events. McMahon's answer was an immediate yes - whilst restricting Savage, Flair, The Undertaker and Yokozuna. Without hesitation, the partnership was official.

On with the show, - Vic

Always. And awesome!

Doink - Push Powers though.

Bret - But would be great if Martel got a nice push.

I have an excellent Russo-esque idea for Powers actually. And who knows, maybe Martel winning the big one immediately could be my Arquette moment - eternally enshrined on here haha

He woulda made for a great IC Champ around '91 or so. And his feud with Jake is one of my all-time favs. Blindfold Match forever!

We open with our announcing trio of McMahon, Heenan and Lawler hyping this iconic evening - having to raise their voices immensely, due to the wild and rowdy audience going bananas behind them. The King guarantees a big announcement by evening's end, as they follow up by putting over the fact that we're about to witness Doink The Clown make his in-ring debut, just as his happy/ominous theme is heard, with Jim Powers already awaiting inside.

<a href="https://imgur.com/s6NoGTN"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/s6NoGTNs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/6J4NyXB"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/6J4NyXBs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/7h2GHXZ"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/7h2GHXZs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

Jim Powers Vs. Doink The Clown

Powers put forth a good effort, but Doink weathered the storm and finished him off with a Whoopie Cushion. An impressive debut, picking up the win over the seasoned vet.

Your Winner: Doink The Clown via pinfall.

Time: 6:15

Grade: 55

McMahon directs us backstage, where Mean Gene is standing by with Razor Ramon and Ric Flair, with Bobby Heenan standing with them, momentarily taking a break from his colour duties.

<a href="https://imgur.com/sfgOGVD"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/sfgOGVDs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a> <a href="https://imgur.com/fumTD0A"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/fumTD0As.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/2yr7f3q"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/2yr7f3qs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/LSn95Ao"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/LSn95Aos.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

Heenan: "This is an ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE! I have a MANAGERIAL LICENSE to this man, and the damn committee wants to TELL ME because of my commentating duties tonight, I can't be in HIS CORNER?! They're gonna be hearin' from my lawy..."

Flair: "Bobby Bobby Bobby, no need to worry my friend, 'cause ya SEE, the NATURE BOOOYYY... and this man RIGHT HERE... the BAD GUY, we're gonna put these two nobodies down once and for all. This is it! The VERY FIRST MONDAY NIGHT RAW! SAVAGE!... everybody knows there ain't no love-lost between you and I pal, and kickin' your butt from one side of any arena across the globe to the other, is something I'll FOREVER look forward to! PERFECT! TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT, BABY! Tonight's the night you find out just why you'll always be standing in MY SHADOW, and nothing more than just another NOTCH IN THE BELT of the Real World's Champion! WHOOO!"

Razor: "Perfect... Savage... you may have escaped last time, Chico... but tonight... The Bad Guy... and The Nature Boy... are gonna CARVE. YOU. UP! Oh, and HIT-MENG... watch closely

Cabron, cause Razor Ramon got somethin' special... just... for... you."

Razor throws his toothpick into the camera, before we cut to a hype video promoting The Steiner Brothers, featuring their original professional wrestling theme:

Just as it ends, we have Rick and Scott live via Sattelite. Vince asks them about the comments made by The Beverly Brothers, their debut next week and their main purpose here in the World Wrestling Federation.

<a href="https://imgur.com/YbdQcRz"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/YbdQcRzs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/v7vVcUY"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/v7vVcUYs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

Rick: "Beverly Brothers, Isley Brothers, it don't matter! When the time comes, we're gonna EAT YOU ALIVE! Hooo Hoo Hoot!"

Scott: "That's right brother! And ya see Vince, for those who may not know, we are the most decorated tag team in the history of this business! But if there's one thing that we haven't gotten our grasp on yet, it's those WWF World Tag Team Titles! So you could throw whomever you want at us next week, throw them RIGHT AT OUR HEADS, cause there's nowhere to RUN! And nowhere to HIDE! When you're in the jungle, baby."

The White Knight Vs. "The Mighty" Yokozuna

Pure dominance by Yoko in this one, who put The White Knight away quickly with a devastating Bonzai Drop. Heenan calmed himself down on commentary by the end, as all three appear to be in awe of how unstoppable this man looks since arriving on the scene.

Your Winner: "The Mighty" Yokozuna via pinfall.

Time: 2:33

Grade: 49

With the bell repeatedly ringing, Mr. Fuji instructs Yokozuna to continue the assault! A myriad of security and WWF officials come running down to ringside, but not before the Japanese colossus delivers two more Bonzai Drops!

As The White Knight gets stretchered out, both Heenan and The King are giggling like children and praising Fuji, while McMahon keeps using the words "sick" and "sickening" in reference to what we've just witnessed - then kicking us over to Sean Mooney over at the WWF studios for our Royal Rumble report.

<a href="https://imgur.com/EgGzNjT"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/EgGzNjTs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

Mooney starts off by hyping up our WWF World Title match, before mentioning that for the first time ever, the winner of the Royal Rumble will indeed receive a shot at The Hitman's, or Razor's gold at Wrestlemania IX in Las Vegas, Nevada! He goes through our previously announced entrants, as we hear from a few via pre-taped promos, before a brand new contestant is revealed.

<a href="https://imgur.com/GEzbz1j"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/GEzbz1js.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/XDl0asw"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/XDl0asws.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/KIksnb7"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/KIksnb7s.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/vQeiAzw"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/vQeiAzws.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/ImWncM1"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/ImWncM1s.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/LSn95Ao"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/LSn95Aos.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/81n4Emu"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/81n4Emus.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

- Money Inc. start off with DiBiase saying his time is now, before informing us that I.R.S. is now also a confirmed entrant as well! Jimmy Hart ensures us that though the Rumble may be billed as "every man for himself", they will work together - a huge advantage. And once they clear the ring, Jimmy states that an in-house executive deal has been cut, as DiBiase reminds the world that "EVERYBODY'S GOT A PRICE..." - alluding to I.R.S. potentially taking a payoff to eliminate himself, should it come down to them two.

- Bob Backlund talks about how he's happy to be back here in the World Wrestling Federation and claims his only mission at the moment is to win this whole thing and take on whoever the title-holder is at WM9 - once again becoming WWF Champion!

- The Berzerker shouts some kind of barely coherent nonsense, mostly "hussing" and saying it's "his kinda match" over and over till he's cut off.

- Tatanka chants, thanks the fans for their groundswell of support, proclaiming triumphant victory for his tribe, before vowing to bring home the World Wrestling Federation's most prized possession! EEEEeeeheeeeeeEEEEHEEEee-HEEE-HEE-HEEEEE-HEEE !!

- Bobby Heenan talks up a new client that he'll be unveiling, stating this man is the single greatest specimen the universe has ever seen - and, that this man is BEYOND Perfect!

- The Big Bossman informs us he's now officially one of the thirty Rumble superstars, promising the twenty-nine others will be serving hard times! Then to actually make that thirty if we throw in whomever the WWF Champion is come WrestleMania time!

Non-Title:

<a href="https://imgur.com/lHKvEd8"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/lHKvEd8s.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/6J4NyXB"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/6J4NyXBs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/1sTTlFY"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/1sTTlFYs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

Max Moon Vs. "The Heart Break Kid" Shawn Michaels

The galactic youngster put up a much better fight than expected here, but in the end, Shawn ducked a high-cross body attempt from the top, then awaited his opponent whilst he struggled to his feet, before nearly knocking his head off with a spectacular looking Super Kick.

Your Winner: "The Heart Break Kid" Shawn Michaels via pinfall.

Time: 9:39

Grade: 62

Heenan and Lawler talk Michaels up, with The Brain even saying he very well could the biggest star in this business since Ric Flair, as Vince transitions into the path of destruction The Beast From The East has been on, since returning to the World Wrestling Federation back in October. We then cut to a short hype video, putting a huge emphasis on his utter dominance thus far.

<a href="https://imgur.com/dUGTKm1"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/dUGTKm1s.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

Coming out of commercial, we hear pre-taped comments from both The Model and The Hitman, before our upcoming title affair.

Martel: "Yes yes, tonight you see, The Model yes, has the opportunity... of a lifetime! Hitman Hart, you may just be a fighting champion, but tonight... you come face to face, with not only the greatest looking man in the world, yes... but also, the best all-round WRESTLER in the world as well!"

Bret: "Ya know I'm gettin' sick and tired of these YAHOOS around here calling themselves the best! Everyone out there and around the world knows that this title right here signifies just who the BEST really is! Martel! You are a great wrestler, there's no doubt about that. But tonight, even you're no match for the most fighting-ist WWF Champion in this company has ever seen! The Best There Is! The Best There Was! And The Best... There EVER Will Be!"

WWF World Heavyweight Championship:

Rick "The Model" Martel Vs. Bret "The Hitman" Hart ©

A good one here between two excellent ring talents. (The cameras happened to catch Doink The Clown in the upper deck throughout, pulling light-hearted pranks on children, while continuously laughing maniacally.) Momentarily, it seemed as if we may have a new champion when Martel has his patent Boston Crab synched in, but The Hitman fought hard, and found his way to the ropes. His legs were in visible pain throughout the rest of this contest, however, he somehow pulled through, catching an attempted standing dropkick attempt and turning it into a SharpShooter! The Model almost immediately taps.

Your Winner: And STILL WWF World Heavyweight Champion, Bret "The Hitman" Hart, via submission.

Time: 13:18

Grade: 69

As McMahon is in the midst of yell-hyping our champ, with The King chiming in about how he's met his match with Razor, and not to forget about The Bad Guy having something up his sleeve for him this evening, Heenan cuts them both off hollering about breaking news - then fills us all in, by claiming that Shawn Michaels has left the building. Vince looks disgusted. Lawler can't stop laughing.

Upon returning from break, Vince is now in the center of the ring, welcoming his very special guest at this time: "The Demon Of Death Valley" The Undertaker!!!

<a href="https://imgur.com/lg4BZEh"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/lg4BZEhs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a> <a href="https://imgur.com/jNBGXHb"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/jNBGXHbs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/xd6mmau"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/xd6mmaus.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

Shortly after his menacing entrance, and McMahon mentioning him as the odds on favorite to win the Royal Rumble match, Paul Bearer clarifies to the camera that with The Ugandan Giant now in their rearview mirror, they now have their sights set on one thing and one thing only: The World Wrestling Federation Title!

The Undertaker: "And when those other twenty-nine souls are laid to eternal rest... our champion will be left with no choice. He must look into the eyes of the reaper... and face his very own ETTTEEERRNAL DAAAAAAMMMM-NAAAAATTTTIIIIIOOONNN! REEESSTT... INNN PEEEEEEAAAACCCEE..."

Once again, we cut to Gene Okerlund, who's standing by backstage with Mr. Perfect and The Macho Man!

<a href="https://imgur.com/sfgOGVD"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/sfgOGVDs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a> <a href="https://imgur.com/aMQUDEm"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/aMQUDEms.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/jdoTi77"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/jdoTi77s.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

Perfect: "Ya know, it's times like this that I happen to revel in Mean Gene. Allow me to give credit where it's due - here's Bobby The Weasel, finally using that peanut brain of his and coming to terms with the fact that his man, Ric Flair, is FINISHED here in the World Wrestling Federation! But now he wants to send idle threats about someone else he's leeching on to? Someone else who's BEYOND Perfect? Listen here, pea-brain, there's no such thing as beyond perfect because perfect is PERFECT! So if you and this so-called 'specimen' wanna come find me Heenan - you know DAMN well where to look!"

Savage: "CUUURT! FOCUS! Randy Savage and Mr. Perfect got a MATCH here to FOCUS on uh-huh! It's time to go slap the grease RIGHT OFF RAZOR RAMON'S FACE, YEAH! And Ric Flair, don't think the MACHO MAN's forgotten about you, YEAH! Anytime opportunity presents itself TO GET MY HANDS ON YOU NATURE BOY, you know I'm gonna be right there to come TAKE IT YEAH! Let's go Curt, the time is here - the time to FINISH THE JOB WE STARTED AT THE SURVIVOR SERIES!! DIG IT! YEAAHH!!"

<a href="https://imgur.com/fumTD0A"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/fumTD0As.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/2yr7f3q"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/2yr7f3qs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/6J4NyXB"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/6J4NyXBs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/aMQUDEm"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/aMQUDEms.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/jdoTi77"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/jdoTi77s.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

"The Bad Guy" Razor Ramon & "Nature Boy" Ric Flair Vs. Mr. Perfect & "Macho Man" Randy Savage

As expected, a knock-down drag-out encounter here, with all four men pummeling one another relentlessly. Eventually, with Perfect taking it to Flair on the inside, Heenan claims to have more "breaking news" on commentary, to which Vince clowns him, asking if Jim Powers has left the building now, but we head backstage:

<a href="https://imgur.com/7KgTAVw"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/7KgTAVws.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/dLOSkCx"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/dLOSkCxs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

<a href="https://imgur.com/stYzb32"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/stYzb32s.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a> <a href="https://imgur.com/kgQoBAY"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/kgQoBAYs.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a><a href="https://imgur.com/fumTD0A"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/fumTD0As.jpg" title="source: imgur.com" /></a>

Gorilla Monsoon approaches Bret Hart with a VHS tape from Ramon, insisting it's something from earlier today he must see. The two walk into an empty conference room with both a tube television and a VCR hoisted up on a rack. Once Monsoon inserts the tape, The Hitman's brother, and one half of High Energy, is doing an exclusive, sit down interview for the WWF magazine - before Razor Ramon comes charging into sight and lays a malicious clothesline and beating on Owen, leaving him down, nearly out and in serious pain! He's gripping his right arm with his left - as Razor bends over and grabs The Rocket by the throat, telling him it's light out for big brother come January 24th!

An outraged Hitman immediately heads storming towards the ringside area, when a host of WWF officials immediately line up to stop him. He does however, plow his way forth and through the curtain, as they continue holding him back! Upon screaming over them and trying to break through, The Bad Guy notices this up the aisle-way - taunting Bret from behind the fifteen or so people attempting to keep the peace.

Back in the ring, as the ref looks on at the scene down the ramp, Macho has recovered just enough to grab the ring bell and waffle Flair over the head with it, just as he was attempting to lock in the Figure Four on Hennig, busting him wide open! Savage then somehow manages to slowly climb to the top, point to the heavens - and come crashing down with an oh-so-beautiful Flying Elbow Drop! Our official has lost all control, but makes the count when Randy covers Ric - just as Bret powers through to get him some of Razor, who's completely turned his attention away from his partner and this contest!

Your Winners: Mr. Perfect and "Macho Man" Randy Savage, via pinfall.

Time: 13:18

Grade: 69

The battle wages back behind the curtain, before it's swiftly broken up by the swarm of officials, and now a bunch of WWF SuperStars as well. The Hitman shouts a few un-pleasantries as Ramon smirks and scare-taunts a little, knowing he's gotten into the champion's head. Meanwhile, back in the ring, Perfect and Savage are celebrating with the crowd, as our commentary team has a few more tidbits for their television audience before signing off.

A graphic pops up, as Vince informs us that we'll be seeing The Headshrinkers clash with High Energy, this coming Saturday afternoon on WWF SuperStars - while The King and The Brain, remind us that one-armed men do not win ass-kicking contests, in reference to Owen Hart.

Finally, Jerry Lawler vows to Shake Up The ENTIRE Pro-Wrestling World next week, as he'll be debuting his brand new talk show, The King's Court with a monumental guest! McMahon asks who on earth could he be referring to, before almost immediately stating that we're outta time - leaving us all hanging!

Televised Broadcast:

Jim Duggan defeated The Brooklyn Brawler in 3:44 by pinfall with a Running Clothesline.

Vignette: Reverend Slick, in his continued attempts to help Kamala fit into modernized culture, tries to show him how to drive a car, which needless to say, does NOT go over so well.

The Natural Disasters defeated The Predator and Tony DeVito in 2:35 when Earthquake pinned The Predator following an Earthquake Splash. This match cooled the crowd a little.

Hype Video: Tatanka, his heritage, good patronage, and his WWF unbeaten streak! He really does seem to have a groundswell of public support.

Damien Demento defeated Virgil in 6:06 by pinfall with a Running Knee Drop.

RAW Recap: The Undertaker has his sights set on the WWF Championship!

Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Glen Ruth in 0:33 via pinfall with a Diving Headbutt. This match cooled the crowd a little.

Royal Rumble Report: with "Mean" Gene Okerlund. He informs us that a new match has been officially signed, sealed and delivered, as we'll be seeing The Beverly Brothers square off with The Steiner Brothers! We hear quick, pre-taped promos from both teams, along with comments from Razor Ramon, WWF Champion, Bret "Hitman" Hart, and our newest entrant into the 1993 Royal Rumble match, WWF Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion, Shawn Michaels! This angle got the crowd interested again.

Crush defeated Duane Gill in 2:14 by submission with a Cranium Crush.

Post-Match: Crush approaches Doink in the aisle, who's light-heartedly taunting children again. He warns him to knock it off, as our resident clown apologizes and offers him a small flower. Crush smacks it away, before shouting back, asking him if he understands?! - to which Doink slowly nods his head yes, then begins obnoxiously laughing once again, as soon as the big man is behind the curtain.

RAW Recap: Bret sees Razor attack Owen on tape, then ambushes him during the main event, costing his team the match.

The Headshrinkers defeated High Energy in 11:20 when Fatu pinned Koko following a Double Diving Headbutt. Owen was clearly still hurt throughout, as he was taken out about midway through by Samu, when he sent The Rocket crashing into the steel steps, shoulder first. This match cooled the crowd a little.

Notes: Koko B. Ware and Owen Hart have absolutely zero chemistry as partners. The flow of the match hurt, due to Owen's limited involvement.

Match Announcement: The Hitman defends his WWF World Title against "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase this coming Monday on RAW!

Pre-Taped Promo: DiBiase (w/I.R.S.) warns Bret of the giant mistake he's made, and that the fighting-ist champion of all-time will also go down in history as one of the shortest reigning champions of all-time!

Reminder/Announcement: Gorilla reminds us of the King's Court debut and alleged huge surprise guest! He then states that this man has also been officially entered into the Rumble later on this month:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="

https://www.youtube.com/embed/QRi2AFZzlwA" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Pre-Taped Promo: Mr. Perfect gloats in his victorious campaign from this past Monday night, then claims that he's coming for the one thing that's somehow alluded him for his entire career here in the WWF - the World Wrestling Federation Title! Furthermore, with the Perfect record officially back in tact, he'd say his chances are pretty damn good! Thirty so-called top SuperStars, but only ONE... who's absolutely Perfect!

Overall: 53

Comments: Not much to say here, other than Raw will be the main attraction obviously, but I plan to use SuperStars to move along some stories/angles - and to even make a big announcement as well from time to time. Thanks for reading.
