Now, it's time to present the first card. The first title defences will be coming soon, starting with the UBL 3 or UBL 4 card!

UBL 1: The Kick-Off - Condit vs. Daley

Somewhere In Eastern Europe

9 April 2021

Prelims:

HW: Salimgirey Rasulov vs. Alikhan Vakhaev

HW: Anton Vyazigin vs. Kelvin Tiller

W FlyW: Priscila Cachoeira vs. Erin Blanchfield

FlyW: Lito Adiwang vs. Jeff Molina

BW: #14 Herbeth Sousa vs. #15 Trevin Jones

FW: #13 Andre Harrison vs. #14 Jeremy Kennedy

W BW: #12 Takayo Hashi vs. #13 Raquel Canuto

Main card:

1. Flyweight Tournament Quarter Final: #4 Jordan ESPINOSA (15-8-1, -730) vs. #5 Sean SANTELLA (23-7-1-1-, +580)

Espinosa is coming a losing effort against David Dvorak, as he left the UFC with a 2-3 record. He's a wrestler who knows little besides smothering his opponent to the cage or from top control. Santella is coming off a majority draw in Brave CF, and he's 3-1-1 in his last 5. He's a veteran that doesnt master any aspect especially well, so it's not very likely that he'll be able to give Espinosa a hard time.

Prediction: Espinosa by 3rd round KO.

2. Middleweight Tournament Quarter Final: #3 Darren STEWART (12-6-1, -110) vs. #4 Makhmud MURADOV (24-6, -140)

Stewart is a English kickboxer, coming off a close defeat to Trailblazer Kevin Holland. He went 5-6-1 in his UFC run. He's pretty hard to hit and has good TD and submission defence, + he has a very tough chin. When it comes to offence, his boxing is his weapon of cioce, as he has pretty powerful hands. Muradov is on a 13 fight winning streak, 2-0 in the UFC and he's had 4 fights cancelled throughout 2020. He's a mountain, being able to counter any takedown attempt, and he has very good boxing and technical low kicks. He also has a good chin and a strong thai clinch, although his thai elbows and knees seem to lack KO power.

Prediction: Stewart by decision.

3. Featherweight Bout: #5 Nik LENTZ (30-11-2-1, +140) vs. #7 Mirsad BEKTIC (13-4, -180)

Lentz is coming off back to back losses to Charles Oliveira and Arnold Allen. He's a UFC prelims veteran, leaving the UFC with a 12-8-1-1 record. He likes to constantly pressure with his wrestling and takedowns, and he can take some big shots. Bektic is coming off 3 straight defeats, taking his UFC record to 6-4. He has great takedowns and a very good ground game, and is a head hunter when he's standing up, putting his good boxing to good use if he has to. Still, wrestling is his preffered way of doing things, and he often dominates when he gets his grappling going.

Prediction: Bektic by decision.

4. Lightweight Bout: #7 Renato CARNEIRO (14-4-1, -550) vs. #8 Brent PRIMUS (10-1, +430)

Moicano Carneiro is a stud, coming off a violent loss to Rafael Fiziev, who knocked him out in the 1st with a massive punch. Moicano was 6-4 in the UFC. He's mainly a grappler, who loves to lock in submissions from his guard, but is dangeros from top control as well. His takedowns could use some work, tho. He also has a decent amount of power in his hands, but he'll rarely put it to good use. Primus is a top American grappler, coming off 2 spectacular 1st round submission finishes in Bellator, where he's an ex-LW champion and made a 8-1 record. He has a tough chin and a very good submission game, especially from top control. This being said, none of these lads has especially good takedowns, so this might end up being a sloppy striking bout instead of a masterpiece on the ground.

Prediction: Carneiro by decision.

5. Welterweight Bout: #9 Carlos CONDIT (31-13, -850) vs. #10 Paul DALEY (42-17-2, +670)

The Natural Born Killer is an ex UFC Welterweight champion who just endend a long losing spree, by getting the UD nod over Court McGee. He was 8-9 in the UFC. The rugged veteran is very well rounded when it comes to striking and is a pretty good wrestler as well, and no slouch on the ground either. Still, striking exchanges is where he feels most comfortable. Semtex Daley is oming off 2 wins in Bellator, taking his record in the promotion to 8-4. He also went 2-1 in his short UFC run. He also went 0-3 in Strikeforce, but lets not mention that. He's a great striker who also has good takedown defence. His chin used to be better, but his arms remain a problem for anyone who isn't ready to start grappling as soon as the fight starts.

Prediction: Daley by 1st round KO.

Main card:

1. Flyweight Tournament Quarter Final: #4 Jordan ESPINOSA (15-8-1, -730) vs. #5 Sean SANTELLA (23-7-1-1-, +580)

Round 1: Espinosa shoots for the TD straight away and gets Santella against the cage. Espinosa keeps him there for almost 3 minutes, dirty boxing until Yamasaki breaks them apart and gets them in the center. Espinosa clinches and gets Santella against the cage again. More dirty boxing until the round is over. 10-9 Espinosa.

Round 2: Santella misses a 1-2 and gets caught in a clinch again. A ton of dirty boxing a few stomps later, Yamasaki brings the to the center with less than 2 minutes left. Finally, Santella catches Espinosa with 2 nice combos. Then e hits a cross. Espinosa hits a jab and gets struck with 2 straight punches. He touches him 2 more times until the round is over. 20-18 Espinosa as he still outstruck his opponent while controlling him against the cage.

Round 3: Santella manages to nail a shot before getting caught in another clinch. They fight for about 2 minutes with Espinosa keeping Santella against the cage, and Yamasaki brings them back to the center. Santella hits a hook, and Espinosa clinches again! More wall and stall from Espinosa, and it's over. 30-27 Espinosa in my book.

Winner: Espinosa (UD: 30-27 x 2, 29-28). Rating: Average.

Post-fight: Espinosa declares his respect to his opponent and says some other boring stuff, as boring as his fight. Oof.

Espinosa is fighting the winner of Kara-France vs. Albazi in the semis. He moved up in the world FlyW ranknigs, from #25 to #21.

2. Middleweight Tournament Quarter Final: #3 Darren STEWART (12-6-1, -110) vs. #4 Makhmud MURADOV (24-6, -140)

Round 1: Leg kick lands from Stewart, Muradov hits a 1-2. Stewart initiates a clinch. He gets Muradov against the cage. A lil dirty boxing happens until Muradov escapes to the center. They trade a bunch of jabs, and Stewart comes in a with a good right hook as the round ends. 10-9 Stewart.

Round 2: Muradov misses a big right and Stewart catches him with a jab and a lil head kick. Stewart shows great movement and hits some jabs and low kicks. But Muradov gets pressuring and hits some hard combos of his own. Stewart dodges a hook and hits with two jabs AND A BIG STRAIGHT! MURADOV IS DOWN, AND STEWART'S THROWING BIG SHOTS! That's it!

Winner: Stewart (poundin' TKO @2:18, round 2). Rating: Great.

Post-fight: Stewart is glad for this big win and he says he ready for the gold, baby, he ready fo the gold!

Stewart is fighting for the belt in the semifinals, against the winner of champ Cummings vs. Roberson.

3. Featherweight Bout: #5 Nik LENTZ (30-11-2-1, +140) vs. #7 Mirsad BEKTIC (13-4, -180)

Round 1: Bektic initiates a clinch and gets Lentz against the cage. They do a whole lot of nothing and at halfpoint of round 1, the ref gets them to the center. Lentz shoots this time, but Bektic manages a great sprawl and gets some legit top control. Bektic hits some good strikes on Lentz, and getting back on feet takes Lentz a while. Bektic starts another clinch, but Lentz gets control and pushes against the cage! Hooks in, AND LENTZ TAKES BEKTIC DOWN WITH A GRECO-ROMAN SLAM! Round over. 10-9 Bektic as he outstruck his opponent by a big margin.

Round 2: Bektic comes in with another clinch. He gets Lentz against the cage and holds him there for minutes, throwing the occasional strikes. 90 seconds left as they get brought back to the center. Lentz shoots again and Bektic sprawls perfectly again, holding Lentz onto his hands and knees. He hits a few shots before Lentz gets up. But Bektic shoots hard this time! But he can only get Lentz against the cage. Small shots land from both men, and it's round over. 20-18 Bektic.

Round 3: Clinch again, and, again, Bektic gets Lentz against the cage. But Lentz turns the clinch around! He goes for the TD again, and after some hard work, manages to geta greco-roman slam on Bektic! Lentz deal little damage from guard, and time's up. 29-28 Bektic on my scorecard.

Winner: Bektic (UD: 29-28 x 3). Rating: Poor.

Post-fight: *generic debut win interview*

4. Lightweight Bout: #7 Renato CARNEIRO (14-4-1, -550) vs. #8 Brent PRIMUS (10-1, +430)

Round 1: Jab-body kick combo lands from Moicano. He hits another jab and then Primus gets a clinch. Primus fails with a TD attempt, and Moicano gets him stuck against the cage. Moicano controls and hits him well, and ref Rosenthal separates them with 2 minutes left. Primus shoots and gets the single leg TD, Moicano pulls guard! Primus hits a few shots, and Moicano manages to crawl close to the cage wall. Moicano manages to get up, but still is being controlled by Primus. Primus catches a leg AND SWEPS THE OTHER, MOICANO FELL DOWN HARD! Primus has the back! But he can't get the RNC, and it's round over. 10-9 Primus.

Round 2: Moicano hits a pair of combos on Primus, and then Primus shoots! Moicano pulls guard and has a guillotine on Primus! IT'S IN DEEP AND PRIMUS GOTTA TAP! HE TAPS!

Winner: Moicano Carneiro (Guillotine submission @1:48, round 2). Rating: Good.

Post-fight: Moicano calls out Vinc Pichel, saying it's a fight that makes sense and he'd think it would also make for a good show.

Moicano broke in the world LW rankings, at #24.

5. Aaand now, it is time for OUR MAAAAAAAAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING! A welterweight bout between two OGs:

#9 'The Natural Born Killer' Carlos CONDIT (31-13, -850) vs. #10 Paul 'Semtex' DALEY (42-17-2, +670)

Round 1: Jab and low kick land from Daley, BUT CONDIT HITS A HEAD KICK! Condit gets the thai clinch! Condit hits a massive knee to the stomach, and another one to the chest! He misses another one and they're back in the center. Quick 1-2 from Daley, Condit hits a jab. Condit dodges a hook and hits a good straight. They do some Matrixish moves to dodge each other's strikes. Daley hits a straight left, Condit hits a jab and a body kick. Condit hits another jab and it's round over. Clear round for Condit, 10-9.

Round 2: Daley's rib cage looks f'd up. Daley misses a hook AND CONDIT HITS A VICIOUS HOOK TO THE RIBS AND DALEY GOES DOWN! CONDIT POUNDS WITH BIG STRIKES! Daley is out! Ouch!

Winner: Condit (Murder KO @0:38, round 2). Rating: Decent HOW IN THE WORLD WAS THIS ONLY DECENT

How I imagined the fight between Condit and Daley ending with one of them on the floor hehehe ...

Carneio's victory over Primus was surprising

I would have expected more of a back-and-forth on the floor from Carneiro vs. Primus, I'm a bit sad that Primus lost like that since he's aging, but Carneiro is a top fighter and this was a pretty meaningful W for him. That's sports, now we gotta move on tooooooo....

UBL 2: Real OGs - Silva vs. Branch

Somewhere in Eastern Europe

23 April 2021

Prelims:

FW: Movlid Khaybulaev vs. Gavin Tucker

WW: Nicolas Dalby vs. Jesse Ronson

FW: Salman Zhamaldaev vs. Herbert Burns

LHW: Shamil Gamzatov vs. Muslim Magomedov

BW: #15 Shintaro Ishiwatari vs. Timur Valier

W FlyW: #15 Justine Kish vs. Tiffany Teo

W FlyW: #10 Shana Dobson vs. #11 Stephanie Geltmacher

Main card preview:

1. Flyweight Bout: #10 Alex SILVA (9-5, +510) vs. #11 Kurban GADZHIEV (16-3, -640)

Alex Silva spent almost all his career in ONE, where he was a SW champion, and he's coming off a split decision loss in a fight for the ONE FlyW title, against Joshua Pacio. He's a decent BJJ practitioner, with good control from the bottom. Kurban is also coming off an unsuccesful title challenge, as he lost a UD to ACA FlyW champion Kerefov. Still, he's 10 years younger than his opponent and much better rounded, as he's a sambo expert. He has good wrestling and submissions, good sweeps and scrambles, and good low kicks that he loves to use when he can't get close enough to grapple. I don't see Silva getting past Kurban.

Prediction: Gadzhiev by 1st round submission.

2. Light Heavyweight Bout: #10 Ivan SHTYRKOV (17-2-1, -200) vs. #11 Viktor NEMKOV (30-7-1, +150)

Shtyrkov is coming off his second ever loss. He has scary power in his hands and good technique, and good takedowns as well, altho advancing past guard is a problem for him. His conditioning is his main weak point. Nemkov is coming off a draw in PFL, where he went 2-0-1. He's a sambo and judo practitioner and an MMA veteran, with very good wrestling and good technical boxing, altho' lacking finishing power. His wrestling and good ability to not get hit might be enough to help him survive, but Shtyrkov ALWAYS has the puncher's chance and it usually seals the deal. I believe in Nemkov tho. Or not? Hmmm..

Prediction: Shtyrkov by 2nd round KO.

3. Heavyweight Bout: #8 Evgeny GONCHAROV (15-3-1, -700) vs. #9 Daniel OMIELANCZUK (24-10-1-1, +550)

Goncharov is coming off a UD win over fellow UBL HW Anton Vyazigin, in RCC. He's an ex ACA HW champion. He has an amazing ground offensive ground game and good wrestling to get the fight down, but also very good boxing, making him quite a contender. Lack of killer instinct might stop him from making it in our B League, tho. Omielanczuk is coming off an unsuccesful title challange against fellow UBL HW, Tony Johnson Jr., where he got KO'd in just over a minute. He's a tough fighter with good strenght in his hands and a decent ground game, but he's unlikely to pose a big threat to Goncharov.

Prediction: Goncharov by 1st round submission.

4. Heavyweight Bout: #12 Matt MITRIONE (13-8-1, -530) vs. #13 Jared ROSHOLT (20-8, +420)

Mitrione has surely had better days, as he's 1-3-1NC in his last 5. He's had a good run in the UFC, going 9-5 with wins over Derrick Lewis, Gonzaga and Kimbo Slice, but now his Bellator stint ended bad, as he's coming off 2 KO losses. He's a very strong striker with great power in his hands and also a pretty good wrestler. On the ground, he doesn't do much except pounding and defending submissions. Now, about his opponent. Rosholt is a veteran coming off a loss to Ali Isaev in the PFL HW final of 2019. He's 6-4 in the PFL and also had a 6-2 run in the UFC, netting wins over Struve, Walt Harris and Tim Johnson. He lowes using his wrestling, but that is pretty much his only weapon on the feet. On the ground, his very good top control might get him in good positions to use his potent ground striking. I believe Mitrione will manage to get the W, tho.

Prediction: Mitrione by 2nd round KO.

5. Middleweight Tournament Quarter-Final: #5 Anderson SILVA (34-11-1, -600) vs. #6 David BRANCH (22-7, +470)

It's kinda ironic, since you might remember both of these guys debuted against each other in the QFs of the Middleweight Grand Prix in mah old KSW dynasty :D You can relieve that historic moment HERE! Now, onto our actual preview. As you likely know, Silva is coming off 3 Ls, including 2 stoppages, and he is about 8 or 9 years past his prime. He still is a great creative striker, but his BJJ would be his most effective weapon, altho' he likely will keep it on the feet like he usually does. Branch, while never quite elite, is a respectable fighter himself. He's coming off getting finished 3 times, including 2 first round guillotines. And we're pretty much aware we'll sending him to an old lion's den, and hoping he losses. GO ANDERSON! YOU CAN DO THIS! WE'RE SURE YOU CAN!

Prediction: Silva by 1st round KO.

HUGE DRUG BUSTS!

CARLOS CONDIT PISSES HOT! Where you impressed with how he walked through Paul Daley? Don't be! The Natural Born Killer seems to also be a natural born sinner, as his lust for power filled him with SCARY levels of testosterone! I'm dissapointed in you, Carlos!

BUT HE'S NOT THE ONLY CHEATER WE HAVE UNDER OUR BANNER! Heavyweight Kelvin Tiller was on PEDs and still got knocked out COLD by Anton Vyazigin! Is Anton just THIS good? I don't know, but Tiller is getting cut for sure.

ONTO THE MAIN CARD!

Main card:

1. Flyweight Bout: #10 Alex SILVA (9-5, +510) vs. #11 Kurban GADZHIEV (16-3, -640)

Round 1: Silva dictates the pace early on, hitting Gadzhiev with jabs and hooks. Gadzhiev is waiting for the right to try for the takedown, and as soon as he goes for it, Silva ends up pulling guard. Gadzhiev throws a few hands, and defends well when Silva tries to grab an arm. Gadzhiev tries to pass guard, but a scramble sees him get on to of Silva in North-South, and another one sees Silva turtled under Gadzhiev. Gadzhiev pounds on Silva for the rest of the round, nailing a few big shots in the process. 10-9 Gadzhiev.

Round 2: Gadzhiev initiates a clinch fast, hits a knee and gets Silva stuck against the cage. Gadzhiev is looking to tire Silva without dealing much damage, and Silva escapes with 3 minutes left. Silva hits a straight right, and Gadzhiev gets the clinch again. He tries a suplex but can't get it, so he pushes Silva back against the cage. They dirty box for a minute, and Silva escapes with a minute left. Silva hits a jab-straight combo and then comes with a cross, and it's round over. 20-18 for Gadzhiev, but Silva was more competitive this round.

Round 3: Gadzhiev shoots straight out the gate and gets a single leg TD. He hits a few short strikes from guard, and Mazzagatti gets them up as we go past the half point of the round. Silva hits a jab-cross combo. Silva hits another jab, and then Gadzhiev gets him against the cage and dominates him until the end of the round. 30-27 Gadzhiev.

Winner: Gadzhiev (UD: 30-27 x 3). Rating: Decent.

Post fight: Gadzhiev is happy to win in his debut and he's looking forward to the next opportunity UBL gives him.

2. Light Heavyweight Bout: #10 Ivan SHTYRKOV (17-2-1, -200) vs. #11 Viktor NEMKOV (30-7-1, +150)

Well, these guys both look like they're straight outta Marvel Comics.

Round 1: Nemkov tries to be the first one to hit the target, but Shtyrkov smashes him with a huge cross. Shtyrkov pressures Nemkov. Nemkov throws and misses a big right, AND SHTYRKOV HITS A HUGE HOOK AND NEMKOV IS DOWN! SHTYRKOV IS THROWING HUGE SHOTS AND IT'S ALL OVER!

Winner: Shtyrkov by TKO (Hook & maul @0:54, round 1).

Post-fight: "RUSSIAN MMA IS TAKING OVER, AND URAL HULK IS LEADING THE CHARGE! I'LL SMASH EVERYBODY, SOON I WILL BE CHAMPION."

3. Heavyweight Bout: #8 Evgeny GONCHAROV (15-3-1, -700) vs. #9 Daniel OMIELANCZUK (24-10-1-1, +550)

Round 1: They feel eachother out early, testing the water without landing anything. They then trade jabs, and Goncharov hits a hard straight. Pace is still pretty low, and Goncha hits a good left. Omielanczuk hits a jab, and Goncha hits another big straight right. And then he hits another wonderful straight right! Omielanczuk stays alive, tho. Omielanczuk hits a pair of jabs and takes two more big shots from Goncharov. They land more small shots and it's round over. Clear 10-9 for Goncharov.

Round 2: As Omielanczuk is being patient, Goncha hits him with a cross. Finally, Omielanczuk shoots, but ends up holding Goncha's leg. He pushes Goncha against the cage AND TAKES HIM DOWN WITH A JUDO THROW! Omielanczuk is in half guard. But a scramble sees Goncha get the back of his opponent! HOOKS ARE IN! AND HE GETS THE CHOKE, REAR NAKED CHOKE'S IN! OMIELANCZUK TAPS!

Winner: Goncharov (RNC sub @2:46, round 2). Rating: Great.

Post-fight: Goncharov aims high, calling out Alexander Romanov, who'll be fighting for the belt soon!

With this win, Goncharov broke into the world HW rankings at #25.

4. Heavyweight Bout: #12 Matt MITRIONE (13-8-1, -530) vs. #13 Jared ROSHOLT (20-8, +420)

Round 1: Mitrione don't wanna touch gloves. Rosholt clinches and gets Matt against the cage. He holds him there and hits with dirty boxing. Finally, Mitrione escapes after about a minute, and then hits Rosholt with a big cross. Rosholt is rocked! MITRIONE JUMPS IN WITH A FLYING KNEE! He follows up with a head kick, but Rosholt ducks and regains his composure. Mitrione is still pushing forward, and he hits Rosholt with the 3 piece and a soda. Aaand a good straight. Again, Rosholt seems stunned! HUGE HEAD KICK AND ROSHOLT'S DOWN! MITRIONE IS RAINING BOMBS ON ROSHOLT, WHO'S GETTING HIS FACE BLOODY! That's it!

Winner: Mitrione (Kick & bomb @3:53, round 1). Rating: Good.

Post-fight: Mitrione is glad he gave the fans a fun performance and ended his bad streak. He knows how to get the crowd to like him!

Now, ALWAYS READY TO STEP INTO ACTION, OUR TWO REAL O-Gs!

#5 Anderson 'THE SPIDER' SILVA (34-11-1, -600) vs. #6 David BRANCH (22-7, +470)

Round 1: They test the waters for a bit, and then Branch hits a jab and gets touched with a spin kick to the body. Another jab lands for Branch, and Silva dodges some big strikes and misses himself with a head kick. Silva hits a jab but Branch does well to dodge another head kick. Silva dodges a hook and hits a jab-jab-cross combo, getting Branch bloody, cutting his forehead. Branch hits a jab, but takes 2 jabs and a HARD low kick. Silva's always moving forward, and hits a jab and, later, a low kick. Silva hits another low kick after dodging a hook. Finally, Branch hits a hook, but was it worth it? SILVA ANSWERS WITH AN EVIL STRAIGHT LEFT, AND BRANCH GOES STRAIGHT DOWN! SILVA FOLLOWS UP WITH BIG SHOTS AND BRANCH IS GETTING SMASHED! BUT SILVA GOES FOR AN ARM TRIANGLE AND BRANCH MANAGES TO DEFEND! BUT SILVA LOCKS IN A SCARY KIMURA! BUT BRANCH ESCAPES AGAIN, OH GOD! Round over, and what a last minute this was! 10-8 Silva.

Round 2: Silva goes back to work, hitting another spin kick to the body. He then hits 2 jabs and another kick to the body. Silva's moving like he's in his prime again, dodging Branch's hooks with ease, as he answers with a jab and another body kick. Again, Silva dodges a kick and hits 2 jabs and a low kick. 3 jabs and a hook land for Silva, and Branch can't even touch The Spider! Jab-spin body kick combo lands again for Silva. Silva switches stance and hits 2 more hands and another body kick. Finally, after being patient for a while, Silva dodges a hook and hits a head kick. Branch is wobbling! BIG UPPERCUT AND THEN A RIGHT HOOK AND BRANCH IS IN MAJOR TROUBLE, AGAINST THE CAGE! SILVA KEEPS PUNCHING HIM AND THE REF HAS SEEN ENOUGH! Might have been a late stoppage, tho!

Winner: Anderson SILVA (Helpless on the feet TKO @4:46, round 2). Rating: Good.

Branch scored a mighty 1 leg kick & 0 punches in round 2, after successfully touching Silva with 4 jabs and a hook in round 1. Oof.

Post fight: Anderson is as humble as always and he said he's ready for anything this tournament throws at him, and that he just loves performing.

In the semis, Anderson will fight the winner of Tavares vs. Meerschaert 2.

And now, time to talk about OUR NEXT CARD, FEATURING SOME JUICY TITLE BOUTS AND A SLAVIC MAIN EVENT!

UBL 3: BABUSHKA SAID KNOCK YOU OUT - Tumenov vs. Amosov

14 May 2021

Somewhere in East Europe

Prelims:

BW: Josh Hill vs. Raufeon Stots

LW: Nate Andrews vs Thanh Le

LW: #12 Steven Ray vs. Chris Wade

LHW: #12 Maxim Grishin vs. Attila Vegh

LHW: #10 Rashid Yusupov vs. #11 Aleksei Butorin

MW: #7 Tom Breese vs. #11 Dricus Du Plessis

FW: #7 Giga Chikadze vs. #11 Nate Landwehr

Main card preview:

1. Welterweight Bout: #7 James KRAUSE (28-8, -180) vs. #8 Sean BRADY (13-0, +140)

James Krause is coming off one of the weirdest UFC main card fights you'll ever see, where he beat Claudio da Silva. Still, he had a decent 9-4 run in the UFC and should make for a tough contender in the UBL's welterweight division. He's a pretty good technical striker on the feet and quite dangerous on the floor, with great submissions and good sweeping skills. His wrestling is his main weakness. Sean Brady is a top prospect who's coming off a 3-0 run in the UFC. He has good low kicks, dangerous knees in the thai clinch, good takedowns and a very good BJJ game, with sweeping being his only ground skill that's not up to par. This should be a great competitive fight, and as the promoter, I can't help but hope the younger Brady gets the W.

Prediction: Brady by decision.

2. Lightweight Bout: #9 Rashid MAGOMEDOV (24-5-1, +100) vs. #11 Lando VANNATA (11-5-2, -110)

Rashid is a top Russian fighter, having a 7-1 record in M-1 and also a 5-1 record in the UFC, with wins over Rocco Martin, Gilbert Burns and Bobby Green. He's coming off a win the ACA. He's a counter striker who likes to keep it on the feet, and, despite his mediocre technique, has good power in his punches and low kicks, and his conditioning is great as well. Lando is coming off a UD loss to Bobby Green in the UFC, ending his 3-5-2 UFC run. He's a good striker, with quite innovative offense on the feet, and also a capable wrestler. Expect to see 3 rounds of action on the feet as these two guys will try to pick each other apart. I believe Vannata wil have Rashid's number.

Prediction: Vannata by decision.

3. HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT & Heavyweight Tournament Quarter-Final: © Sergey PAVLOVICH (16-1, +190) vs. #3 Alexander ROMANOV (14-0, -240)

The winner of the first ever UBL Main Event, Sergey Pavlovich is a walking weapon, on a 4 fight winning streak, including 3 KOs. He's great all around, with the power of his hands and high kicks being his main weapons, and his sub' defence and bottom control being his only weaknesses. Moldavian King Kong Alex Romanov made his name in the company that Khabib bought, EFC, and also had a short run 2-0 run in the UFC, where he earned his 2 wins via submission. He's a choking machine, with 8/14 wins coming via choke submissions. He's a great wrestler who thrives in most kinds of grappling exchanges, and on the feet, altho he does lack technique, he packs a powerful punch and also has a great chin. This is a fighter with lots of potential, and he dominated Stefan Struve for 3 rounds to earn this title shot. This should be a great fight, and I think Romanov simply has the right skillset to dethrone Pavlovich.

Prediction: Romanov by 5th round submission.

4. FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT: © Movsar EVLOEV (15-0, -110) vs. #2 Ilia TOPURIA (11-0, -110)

Movsar Evloev had two great performances to becoem the first UBL champion back in January. He's a sambo fighter who feels best when in top control, but also has been developing his boxing, which we could honestly call "pretty good" at this point. Now, onto the challenger. After two impressive wins in the UFC, Topuria got a big UD victory against Daniel Weichel to prove he's worth a title shot. He might be one of the best wrestlers in the whole UBL, and he'll be a hellish test for Evloev. His ground game is great and well rounded, and he surely is superior to Evloev in the boxing department. Worth noting that Topuria loves mixing it up and striking the body. I think we'll see two title changes tonight.

Prediction: Topuria by 3rd round submission.

5. Welterweight Main Event: #13 Albert TUMENOV (21-4, +230) vs. #15 Yaroslav AMOSOV (25-0, -300)

Tumenov was the ACA WW champion, going 5-0 in the promotion, after his 5-3 UFC run. He's a head hunter who loves to strike and also is a capable grappler on the feet, although his ground game is lacking. After a dominating 6-0 run in Bellator, Yaroslav Amosov is ready to shine brighter than ever. A sambo wrestling god, he can probably take down a light heavyweight or a one-handed DC. His submission game and top control are pretty good, he often emerges on top from scrambles, and despite having a limited striking game, he has good power in his hands. I love Albert, but I don't see him taking away Amosov's O today. Altho' Amosov does love mixing it up and throwing some hands, so who knows?

Prediction: Amosov by 3rd round submission.

But what do you think, lads? Don't be shy! Share yourrrr

ANOTHER DRUG BUST FOR THE UBL! MAJOR SPORTS ORGANIZATION, OR SIMPLY A BUNCH OF PERFORMANCE ENCHANCING DRUG ADDICTS?

ANOTHER MAIN EVENT WINNER TURNS OUT TO BE ON THA JUICE! The beloved Anderson Silva decided being a beloved legend of the sport just isn't enough, and he shall go on, potentially juicing his way into a title shot.

Asked about this sad event, with tears in his eyes, The Great UBL Boss, Whana Dite, told our reporters: "Anderson Silva, YOU ABSOLUTELY SUCK!".

The winner of the Tom Breese vs. Dricus Du Plessis fight will take his place in the tournament.

Big fights outside the UBL between UBL 2 and UBL 3:

PFL:

Justin Willis beat Fabricio Werdum by 1st round TKO for the PFL HW championship.

Marcin Held beat Natah Schulte by 3rd round Kneebar sub' for the PFL LW championship.

And now, it is time.

UBL 3: BABUSHKA SAID KNOCK YOU OUT - Tumenov vs. Amosov

14 May 2021

Somewhere in East Europe

Prelims:

BW: Josh Hill defeats Raufeon Stots by UD (29-28 x 3).

LW: Thanh Le defeats Nate Andrews by TKO @0:33, round 3.

LW: #12 Steven Ray defeats Chris Wade by Armbar submission @1:30, round 3. Steven Ray calls out Vinc Pichel. Did nobody tell him that Moicano - Pichel already got booked?

LHW: #12 Maxim Grishin defeats Attila Vegh by TKO @3:15, round 2. Turns out Grishin is not happy that Yagshimuradov is getting a title shot and wants to beat his ass as soon as possible. Interesting!

LHW: #10 Rashid Yusupov defeats #11 Aleksei Butorin by TKO @0:57, round 1.

MW Tournament QF (to replace Anderson Silva): #11 Dricus Du Plessis defeats #7 Tom Breese by SD (29-28 x 2, 28-29).

FW: #7 Giga Chikadze defeats #11 Nate Landwehr by Armbar submission @4:52, round 2.

Main card:

1. Welterweight Bout: #7 James KRAUSE (28-8, -180) vs. #8 Sean BRADY (13-0, +140)

Round 1: Brady wants to get a clinch in but can't, as Krause is keeping him at bay hit jabs and a hook. Jab & spinning rib kick combo lands for Krause. He then hits two jabs and a low kick, and Brady is still yet to take any offensive action. Krause hits a big hook, but Brady just eats it. Another good 1-2 lands for Krause and Brady's sporting a cut under the eye. 3 short punches land for Krause, and then he lands a big straight. He continues pressuring and hits a jab, and a body kick, then repeats the combo with success. Finally, Brady gets a clinch as we enter the last 2 minutes of R1. But Brady fails with his TD attempts, and then Krause musters the strength to push Brady against the cage. But the ref stops it to check Brady's cut, and they then restart in the center. Krause immediately reopens the cut with a punch, and then scores another spinning body kick, and he gets in two more jabs before the round ends. Krause is making Brady look like an amateur! Clear 10-9 round.

Round 2: Krause hits a jab and, likely feeling confident, initiates a clinch. There, he hits a few short punches and a good body knee. There's more dirty boxing in the clinch before Krause finally pushes Brady against the cage. He hits Brady with a sharp elbow before Brady manages to escape. Krause is starting to look quite tired, tho. Brady gets struck with another big hook, and then a body kick. Looking more and more tired, Krause misses with some uninspired combos and ends up having a kick caught by Brady. Brady uses it to finally secure a takedown, ending up in half guard. Krause manages to scramble to a full guard, and Brady starts attacking with some elbows. He scores several shots until the end of the round, but I still believe it was Krause's round for his first 4 minutes of control and good damage output. 20-18 Krause, but he's quite tired, so Brady still has a solid chance.

Round 3: Brady dodges some hands, gets a clinch and Krause grabs the cage to avoid getting taken down by a sweep! Herb Dean saw it & took action. Brady hits an uppercut as Krause was stuck against the cage, but Krause escaped soon after. Krause hits 2 jabs and a hook before getting caught in another clinch initiated by Brady. Inside trip by Brady and he's in half guard! He soon advances to side control! AND NOW HE'S ON KRAUSE'S BACK! But all Brady does is look for the RNC until the very end of the round, and he fails to find it. Krause survived almos 3 minutes with his back taken, damn! 29-28 Krause.

Winner: Krause (UD: 29-28 x 3). Rating: Good.

Post-fight: Krause aknowledges he should put more work into his conditioning, but he's happy with how his stand up game served him today.

2. Lightweight Bout: #9 Rashid MAGOMEDOV (24-5-1, +100) vs. #11 Lando VANNATA (11-5-2, -110)

Vannata is looking more focused than ever.

Round 1: Rashid hits a jab, and Vannata answers with a jab and a head kick. They both land 1-2s. They show some good defensive movements, and Vannata catches Rashid with a strong hook. Rashid dodges a cross and comes in with one of his own. Vannata hits a 1-2. Jab-low kick combo lands from Rashid, and Vannata hits a similar combo. Rashid goes for the body. Vannata comes with the jab-cross combo, and Rashid anwers with a good right. Vannata looks rocked! UPPERCUT FROM RASHID! ANOTHE UPPERCUT AND VANNATA GOES DOWN! Rashid is hitting good shots, but Vannata is defending fairly well and despite you could argue it should have been a finish, the timer saved Vannata. 10-9 for Rashid.

Round 2: They both are more caotious, as the first minute of the round feels like how a first round usually starts. Rashid throws first, landing a jab-cross combo. Vannata manages to hit another head kick. Rashid hits a jab and Vannata hits yet another head kick, but it looks like Rashid's head is made of stone today. Rashid hands another good right, and Vannata kicks the thigh. Vannata seems kinda groggy, tho. RASHID THROWS A HUGE HOOK, AND VANNATA IS OUT COLD! THAT'S IT!

Winner: Magomedov (Huge hook KO @2:43, round 2). Rating: Great.

Post-fight: Rashid is calm, says it's just business and he's glad to give us a fun fight and get a win on his debut, and he can't wait to get home & relax with his family.

3. The following bout is for the UBL HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP, AND IS IN THE Heavyweight Tournament Quarter-Finals!

© Sergey PAVLOVICH (16-1, +190) vs. #3 Alexander "KING KONG" ROMANOV (14-0, -240)

Romanov has about 25lbs on the champion.

Round 1: Romanov wastes little time, as he's already clinching with Pavlovich. A NASTY TRIP AND ROMANOV ENDS UP STRAIGHT INTO SIDE CONTROL! He throws some small shots and fails with a kimura attempt. The ref gets them back up with 100 seconds left. ROMANOV CLINCHES AGAND AND GETS PAVLOVICH DOWN WITH A T-BONE SUPLEX! He's in half guard, and a scramble sees him into side control. He hits a few more shots as the round ends. 10-9 Romanov.

Round 2: The champ hits 2 jabs and a body kick, and only gets 1 leg caught as Romanov shoots like a mad man. Romanov gets him against the cage. They dirty box for a minute and then Romanov lifts up Pavlovich and slams him with a Greco-Roman slam. Pavlovich is seated, and taking punches from Romanov. Sadly, that's literally how they spend the whole rest of the round: Romanov trying to hit Pavlovich's head, and Pavlovich hitting Romanov's King Kong body. 20-18 for the challenger.

Round 3: Pavlovich hits 2 jabs & a cross. Romanov seems shook, as Pavlovich hits a straight and then a jab-body kick combo. Slowing down a bit, Pavlovich hits a jab and a straight right, but then Romanov dodges a combo ending with a head kick. They trade jabs, Romanov dodges a head kick but gets touched with a straight right. Pavlovich hits a 4 punch combo. And a leg kick. But now he's starting to look tired, much to Romanov's delight. Romanov shoots, getting Pavlovich stuck against the cage. Big greco-roman slam, and Romanov has the back of the champion! He struggles to get a RNC in, but does it! But the timer saves Pavlovich! Pavlovich earned this round, despite how it endend, tho. 29-28 Romanov.

Round 4: Beautiful jab-straight combo lands from Pavlovich. Backing, Pavlovich manages to get 2 low kicks in before Romanov gets another clinch. Pavlovich is trapped agaist the cage. They dirty box for a while, and when Romanov tries to take Pavlovich down, he defends it by cage-grabbing. Verbal warning given by Herb Dean. No escape for Pavlovich, tho, as another greco-roman slam sees him hit the floor. He's seated against the cage. They strike for a while, and then Romanov manages to move into side control. They strike a bit more, and Romanov ends the round looking for a kneebar, to no avail. 39-37 Romanov.

Round 5: Romanov shoots straight away, and ends up in Pavlovich's guard. Romanov is throwing some big hands. He doesn't manage to advance for now, so he settles for bunches of body strikes. 3 scrambles later, Romanov is standing on top of Pavlovich, in North-South position. He can't get the NS choke, so he moves into side control. He throws some more shots, and it is round over. 49-46 Romanov.

Winner, AND NEEEW ULTIMATE B LEAGUE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: Alexander "KING KONG" ROMANOV! (Unanimous decision: 50-45 x 3). Rating: Good.

Post-fight: Romanov is glad to get this major W and he's glad that right now, the champions of the heaviest divisons of the UBL are Moldovans!

Title prestige up from 63 to 64. Alexander Romanov moved up in the world HW rankings, from #24 to #20, while Pavlovich fell from #5 to #17.

4. The following bout is for the UBL FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP!

© Movsar EVLOEV (15-0, -110) vs. #2 Ilia TOPURIA (11-0, -110)

Round 1: Evloev is pressuring and hits a right. They trade some small strikes and then Topuria shoots and gets the TD on Evloev! He's in guard. Topuria hits some small shots and advances to half guard. Topuria hits bunches of small shots, and Evloev starts a scramble, but ends up under side control. Topuria throws more small strikes and it's round over. 10-9 Topuria.

Round 2: Topuria pushes this time, and they trade some jabs. Topuria hits a jab-hook combo, but Evloev hits a nice jab-straight combo. They are both defending pretty well. Evloev starts pressuring Topuria and he nails him with a powerful hook. More good head movement from both, and Evloev hits a straight right. As the round ends, Evloev hits one more good straight as Topuria wanted to grapple. 19-19.

Round 3: Evloev hits a hard cross! But Topuria gets a clinch, and he gets Evloev against the cage. Greco-roman slam, and Topuria is in half guard! Topuria throws many small shots, as he can't manage to move past half-guard. That's what happens for a long, long time, as the round was ending as Herb Dean was getting them up due to lack of action. 29-28 Topuria.

Round 4: Topuria shoots like a bull and gets Evloev against the cage! TOPURIA LIFTS THE CHAMP AND NAILS THE GRECO-ROMAN SLAM, and he's in side control! He can't get the Americana, so he settles for small shots. A scramble sees Evloev on top, in half guard. He throws some hands and gets side control! He hits some elbows as the round ends, and it's over. 39-37 Topuria, altho it was a quite close round.

Round 5: Feeling confident, Topuria starts some boxing exchanges, and he slightly outstrikes early. Finally, they seem to start getting a bit tired. Topuria shoots, and Evloev pulls guard. A scramble sees Evloev gain top control, in North-South position. He hits a few elbows, but Topuria manages to scramble his way back into control, as Evloev is now pulling guard. But another scramble sees Evleov get into side control! Damn. Evloev hits some elbows and fails with a kimura attempt. EVLOEV STARTS HITTING SOME BIG ELBOWS, AND TOPURIA GIVES UP HIS BACK! But Evloev can't get the RNC, as we're in the last seconds, and it's round over! It was a good, competitive bout, 48-47 for Topuria on my scorecard.

Decisions: Sal D'Amato: 48-48. Ulrich Kroh: 48-47 Topuria. Nelson Hamilton: 49-46 Topuria.

Winner, AND NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW ULITMABE B LEAGUE FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPIOOON: ILIA TOPURIA (Majority decision: 49-46, 48-48, 48-47). Rating: Good.

Post-fight: "I am very proud to win this belt, I am far from my prime, I'm 24, I will be champion for at least 10 years. That's not something that I hope will happen, that is something I will make to happen."

Title prestige up from 63 to 64. Topuria went up in the world FW rankings, from #24 to #17, while Evloev fell from #10 to #15.

5. AND NOW, IT IS TIME FOR THE MAAAAAAAAAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING! A WELTERWEIGHT BOUT BETWEEN TWO YOUNG STUDS!

#13 Albert "EINSTEIN" TUMENOV (21-4, +230) vs. #15 Yaroslav "DYNAMO" AMOSOV (25-0, -300)

Round 1: Tumenov goes for the head kick straight away, but Amosov dodges and jabs. They trade a few jabs, AND TUMENOV HITS A DAMN HEAD KICK! But Amosov dodges the following flying knee and gets to keep his 0 for now! But a good feint fools Amosov, AND TUMENOV HITS A SECOND HEAD KICK! But it didn't connect as hard as the first. Spinning kick to the chest lands from Tumenov. Amosov manages to dodge some strikes and clinch! He gets Tumenov against the cage and suplexes him! AMOSOV GETS THE BACK! He can't get the RNC initially, so he hits some big strikes AND THEN GETS THE RNC! But the time runs out, as Tumenov survives! Hot start to this war! 10-9 Amosov.

Round 2: Tumenov wants to keep Amosov at bay, but he only hits a jab before getting stuck in a clinch with this wrestling devil! Amosov hits a strong knee to the body. And a second one follows, before Amosov pushes Tumenov against the cage. ANOTHER SUPLEX AND AMOSOV HAS THE BACK AGAIN! BOTH HOOKS ARE IN, BUT TUMENOV DEFENDS THE RNC! BUT AMOSOV PERSISTS AND FINALLY GETS THE CHOKE, TUMENOV HAS TO TAP! AND HE DOES! IT IS ALL OVER!

Winner: Yaroslav "DYNAMO" AMOSOV (RNC submission @3:21, round 2). Rating: Good.

Post-fight: Amosov pays his respects to his opponent and says that there's a reason they main evented despite having no belt on the line. He feels he's the best wrestler in all of MMA and he can be big trouble for anyone, so he's looking forward to see what UBL gives him next.

UBL 4: Stars Don't Need Belts - Mankowski vs. Aliev

May 28 2021

Somewhere in Eastern Europe

Prelims:

W BW: Izabela Badurek vs. Peggy Morgan

LHW: Reinier de Ridder vs. Klidson de Abreu

LW: Amirkhan Adaev vs. Ottman Azaitar

MW: #13 Trevin Giles vs. #14 Andre Muniz

FlyW: #12 Daniel Barez vs. #13 Maycon Silvan

HW: #12 Javy Ayala vs. #13 Francimar Barroso

FlyW Tournament QF: #6 Rasul Albaskhanov vs. #7 Juan Puerta

Main card preview:

1. Featherweight Bout: #4 Cody STAMANN (19-4, -430) vs. #7 Daniel WEICHEL (40-13, +340)

Cody Stamann got upset by Kevin Belingon in his UBL debut, as he got caught in a tight triangle and forced into submission, taking his current streak to 2 Ls. He's also had a pretty good 5-2 UFC run. Stamann is a wonderful grappler, with great submission offence and quality wrestling, plus some good technical striking. The German Daniel Weichel is a decision machine, as 8 out of his last 10 fights ended via decision. Right now, he's coming off 2 losses, to now champion Topuria and Bellator standout Emmanuel Sanchez. He was a Bellator main stay at FW, earning a 9-4 record and 2 FW title shots in the promotion. He's pretty well rounded, with good takedowns and submissions. He's comfortable both off his back and on the feet, as he often displays quality technical striking. This should be a pretty even match up, and I see Weichel picking up the W after 3 rounds.

Prediction: Weichel by decision.

2. Women's Flyweight Bout: #4 JJ ALDRICH (8-4, +180) vs. #5 Pearl GONZALEZ (10-5, -230)

Like Weichel, Aldrich is pretty much a decision machine, with all but 1 of her UFC wins ending via decision. She's coming off a SD loss to Sabina Mazo, taking her UFC record to 4-3, and she also had a 3-1 run in Invicta. Aldrich is mainly a striker, with good boxing and some powerful low kicks, but she needs to round up her game if she wishes to develop into an elite fighter. Pearl Gonzalez is coming off a UD loss to Miranda Maverick, taking her Invicta record to 3-2. She also had a short 0-2 UFC run. She is mainly a BJJ fighter, posing a great submission threat when she manages to ground the fight. Will she manage to ground the fight, tho? We'll see.

Prediction: Aldrich by 2nd round KO.

3. Heavyweight Bout: Frank MIR (19-13, -890) vs. Jake HEUN (15-10, +710)

Frank Mir is a great veteran, an ex-UFC HW champion who went 16-11 in the promotion, and is now coming off a short 1-2 stint with Bellator. Throughout the years, he earned great wins over the likes of Big Nog (x2), Brock Lesnar, Tim Sylvia and Cro Cop. In 2021, Mir is far from his prime, but is still a very capable fighter, with good offensive wrestling, dangerous submissions and respectable power in his hands. Jake Heun is coming off a submission loss to Salim Rasulov in his UBL debut, ending the 3 fights winning spree he was on. He got a 3-4 record in WSOF/PFL and a 3-1 record in RIZIN. He never really looked close to being an elite MMA fighter, so he's basically just here to give the fans a feel-good moment with Frank Mir. Don't spoil this moment, Jake, alright?

Prediction: Mir by 1st round submission.

4. Lightweight Title: © Gregor GILLESPIE (15-1, -430) vs. #2 Drakkar KLOSE (12-2-1, +340)

After his 6-1 run in the UFC, Gillespie made his return to MMA in the UBL cage and decision'd his way into greatness, defeating Bobby Green and Rafael Fiziev to win the title. He's a wrestler that's also well versed on the ground, and he also has power in his hands and decent boxing for the rare occasions when he can't take the fight to the ground. Still, he'll mostly manage to take the fight to the ground and dominate from top control. Drakkar Klose has won 4 of his last 5, as he's coming off a KO win against Scott Holtzman. He's had a good 5-2 run in the UFC before coming to the UBL. He's mainly a good wrestler, but he has decent strikes and a good & dangerous muay thai clinch. His best chance is to keep the fight on the feet and eventually get Gillespie in a thai clinch, but it won't be easy. I expect a pretty close fight.

Prediction: Gillespie by 4th round submission.

5. Lightweight Bout: Borys MANKOWSKI (23-8-1, -400) vs. Akhmed ALIEV (19-6, +310)

Borys is a beast. After a great 10-2 run in KSW, he debuted with a UD win over Islam Mamedov in the UBL. His great run in the KSW turned him into a star of European MMA, making him popular enough to main event over the champ of his division, and he surely loved rubbing that in the champ's face. As a fighter, he loves mixing it up, as he's a talented striker with remarkable power in his low kicks, but his suplexes and wrestling are his main quality. From top control, he loves advancing into positions from which he can use his good ground striking, and he can also sweep or sneak in a submission to finish his opponents. Aliev is coming off a 2-2 run in the PFL, ending with a loss via arm triangle to Natan Schulte. He's an ex FNG LW champion. He is mainly a boxer with great power in his hands, and has quality takedown defenfce to enforce his gameplan of punchin his way into victory. His takedown defence might actually be good enough that he may steal one over Mankowski here! Still, he's surely the underdog here.

Prediction: Mankowski by 3rd round KO.

GANGSTER'S PARADISE: IS THERE NOT ONE FAIR STAR IN THE UBL?

EX-UBL CHAMPION SERGEY PAVLOVICH LOST HIS BELT WHILE ON PEDs. Light Heavyweight fighter Attila Vegh also happened to be on TRT in his loss to Maxim Grishin on the prelims.

Both fighters have since been cut. Looks like the UBL is sporting an "at least win if you cheat" policy, as Carlos Condit, Anderson Silva and Said Nurmagomedov managed to avoid being cut after testing positive for banned substances.

Main card:

1. Featherweight Bout: #4 Cody STAMANN (19-4, -430) vs. #7 Daniel WEICHEL (40-13, +340)

Round 1: Stamann shoots straight off the bat and gets Weichel down, gaining side control! He throws a few hands, and as Weichel tries a sweep, Stamann gets his back! But Stamann doesn't manage to get the hooks in, and after minutes of struggle, Mazzagatti gets them up with 75 seconds left. Stamann gets hit with a straight left, but gets the clinch. He pushes Weichel against the fence and keeps him there until the end of the round, hitting a few short strikes in the process. 10-9 Stamann.

Round 2: Wiechel hits a good jab-straight combo, but Stamann gets him in the clinch after he misses a second combo. Stamann gets the thai clinch. He hits an elbow, and then Weichel escapes the clinch. Weichel hits a hook. He then comes with 2 jabs and a low kick. But Weichel then overcommits with a kick, and Stamann catches his leg. Stamann gets the TD, ending up in guard. Stamann hits a few small shots, BUT WEICHEL GRABS HIS HAND, AND THEN LOCKS IN A TRIANGLE CHOKE! IT'S DEEP, BUT THE CLOCK IS RUNNING! STAMANN TAPS!

Winner: Weichel (Triangle with Armbar Submission @4:43, round 2). Rating: Decent.

Post-fight: Weichel praises Stamann's toughness and says he's glad he got to show off both his high level striking and his BJJ today and he says he believes it's not too late for him to chase that title run.

Daniel Weichel broke in the world FW rankings, at #25.

2. Women's Flyweight Bout: #4 JJ ALDRICH (8-4, +180) vs. #5 Pearl GONZALEZ (10-5, -230)

Round 1: Aldrich hits a hook, and then hits Pearl with a jab-low kick combo. But then Pearl shoots, and gets Aldrich down, pulling guard. Pearl advances to half-guard, and then into side control. She hits a few shots, and then looks to hook a leg. SHE GOT IT AND NOW A KNEEBAR IS LOCKED IN! PEARL'S GOT IT TIGHT, ALDRICH TAPS! Gah damn!

Winner: Gonzalez (Kneebar Submission @3:42, round 1). Rating: Great.

Post fight: Pearl celebrates this win and says she can't wait to bring her BJJ back to the top of MMA.

3. Heavyweight Bout: Frank MIR (19-13, -890) vs. Jake HEUN (15-10, +710)

Mir has about 30lbs over Heun.

Round 1: Mir pushes forward, and as he steps in the pocket, he unleashes with two jabs and a big overhead left! Heun's hurt! But Mir misses with a head kick and Heun clears his head. They trade a few jabs, AND MIR HITS A HUGE CROSS! Heun is still alive, but Mir's tryna end that by raining huge shots on him! He wants to end it with an arm triangle! But he can't get it (does that ever work well?). He fails with another attempt, and then with a kneebar attempt. Damn it Frank! Seeing no progress, the ref gets both of them up with 70 seconds left. Mir dodges a hook and hits a jab-head kick combo. Mir hits a jab and Heun answers with a straight right, and then Mir shoots and gets a single leg TD, ending up in guard. That's how the round ends. 10-9 Mir.

Round 2: Mir hits a jab, and Heun answers with a big straight right. Mir hits a good jab-hook combo. He then shoots, but only gets hold of one of Heun's legs. He drives him up against the cage and then gets him in a thai clinch. He hits a pair of weak knees to the chest, and then Heun escapes. Both fighters are starting to look tired. They trade hands, and a cross from Mir sees Heun hit the floor! Again, Mir rains down big strikes, and this time it's looking like Heun won't resist them! That's it, TKO!

Winner: Mir (Cross & pound TKO @3:52, round 2). Rating: Decent.

Post-fight: Mir greets everyone and says it's great to be here and he's glad he still has this much fight in him, and is looking forward to fight again as soon as he can!

4. And now, FOR THE UBL LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP!

© Gregor 'THE GIFT' GILLESPIE (15-1, -430) vs. #2 Drakkar KLOSE (12-2-1, +340)

Round 1: Gillespie shoots straight away, and gets Klose down, securing side control! Gillespie hits a few punches, but Klose scrambles up, altho' Gillespie grabs his back. But Klose escapes and circles to the center. Gillespie shoots again and Klose's pulling guard. Gillespie hits a few elbows, and gets north-south control after a scramble. He moves into side control. He goes to the body with a few punches, AND GILLESPIE THEN LOCKS IN A KIMURA! KLOSE TAPS OUT!

Winner, AND STILL UBL LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION: GREGOR "THE GIFT" GILLESPIE (Kimura Submission @4:31, round 1). Rating: Good.

Post-fight: "You might think I might have had doubts when I saw both belts change hands on the last UBL card, right? I had absolutely no doubt. I knew I can take him down with ease, and I did. I knew I can advance to any position I want on the ground, and I did. And I knew I can make him tap, and I did. And I'll do the same to whoever's next, and I will likely make it look easy as well. Borys Mankowski, I hope you make it to the top of the rankings, not only the top of the card, so I can throw you around like a ragdoll and get you tapping too. Enjoy watching that clown close the card, Europe, good night!"

Title prestige: up from 63 to 68. Gregor Gillespie moved up in the world LW rankings, from #10 to #3, while Drakkar Klose fell from #19 to #23.

5. And now, it is time for our MAAAAAAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING, a bout in the LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION:

Borys "THE TASMANIAN DEVIL" MANKOWSKI (23-8-1, -400) vs. Akhmed "BUTCHER" ALIEV (19-6, +310)

Round 1: The feel-out process takes a while initially, and the Aliev catches Borys with a hook. He then hits Borys with a jab-cross combo. But he then misses with a punch-kick combo, and Borys manages to catch his leg! Borys takes him down, Aliev pulls guard! Borys hits a few elbows, but a scramble starts and Aliev ends up in guard, on top! Aliev hits quite a bunch of short strikes, and also hits a couple of shoulder shots as the round ends. 10-9 for the underdog Aliev.

Round 2: Borys is showing better defense in the striking exchanges. Still, he gets caught with a cross and can only hit a jab, missing a head kick attempt. Again, Borys hits a jab and misses another head kick, and Aliev comes in with 2 jabs and a nice hook. Borys hits a cross, but Aliev hits a jab-low kick combo. Aliev hits with a jab and a strong straight right, and then he hits a big jab-hook combo! Aliev keeps landing big punches on Borys, but the Polish wrestler looks unbothered! Aliev hits a body kick and gets caught with a nice hook from Borys. And round 2 is over. 20-18 Aliev, great start from the underdog!

Round 3: Borys misses with a wild cross and gets hit with a jab-hook combo. Borys hits a jab and misses yet another head kick. Aliev hits one more jab before Borys finally manages to start a clinch. He sends a big knee to the body of Aliev, and then gets him stuck against the cage. AND THERE IT IS, THE MANKOWSKI SUPLEX, AND BORYS HAS ALIEV'S BACK! But Borys can't get the RNC locked in! It takes some work, but he manages to get both hooks in! AND IT IS IN DEEP, ALIEV HAS TO TAP OUT TO THE REAR NAKED CHOKE! AND HE DOES!

Winner: Borys Mankowski (Rear naked choke Submission @3:34, round 3). Rating: Great.

Post fight: "GILLESPIE! THERE IS ONE REAL CHAMPION IN THE LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION, AND IT'S THE ONE THAT ENDS THE SHOW! MEET ME AT THE OPJCA CLUB IF YOU WANNA TALK TO ME, YOUR DIVISION DOESN'T MATTER WITHOUT BORYS MANKOWSKI! BOW DOWN!"

And now, a weaker card than what I'd like, but consider it the calm before the storm:

UBL 5: DEMOLITION - Rothwell vs. Boser

11 June 2021

Somewhere in Eastern Europe

Prelims:

WW: G Khiramugomedov vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov

LW: Loik Radzabov vs. Islam Mamedov

MW: Bartosz Fabinski vs. Yasubey Enomoto

MW: Vladimir Mineevv vs. Salamu Abdurakhmanov

W FlyW: #14 Gina Mazany vs. Silvana Gomez Juarez

FW: #12 Henry Coralles vs. Alex Gilpin

LHW: #12 Nasrudin Nasrudinov vs. Jordan Johnson

Main card preview:

1. Flyweight Bout: #9 Yosuke SARUTA (21-9-3, -520) vs. #14 Azam GAFOROV (12-1, +410)

Saruta is an ex Shooto Flyweight (114 lbs) champion and ex ONE Strawweight (125 lbs) champion. He spent most of his career in Shooto, but is coming a 4-1 stint in ONE that ended with back to back victories. He's a veteran with mean elbows, a good ground game and good technical boxing, plus a good chin. Gaforov is an ex ACA interim Flyweight champion. He's mainly a striker that's quite hard to hit and has great power in his low kicks to make up for the power his hands lack, and good technique all aroud. He's also very hard to take down, and in case he somehow ends up on the ground, he can hunt for submissions off his back. Seeing he is superior in the striking exchanges and a good worker off his back, I expect him to win over the veteran Saruta.

Prediction: Gaforov by 3rd round submission.

2. Women's Flyweight Bout: #10 Kana WATANABE (9-0-1, -580) vs. #12 DAIANA TORQUATO (10-3, +460)

Watanabe is an undefeated Japanese judoka, with wins in Jewels, Rizin & Bellator. She's a remarkable grappler who likes taking the fights to the ground and working for submissions or pounding her way to victory. Daiana Torquato is on an 8 fight winning streak and is finally making her debut on a major stage. She's decent all around, with her creative striking being her main quality. Since she doesn't master grappling quite well, I expect Kana to dominate her and eventually lock in a submission.

Prediction: Watanabe by 1st round submission.

3. Bantamweight Bout: #11 Kai ASAKURA (16-3, -410) vs. #13 Shamil SHAKHBULATOV (12-3, +320)

Ex-Rizin BW champion Kai Asakura is coming off a big loss in his rematch with Horiguchi, taking his Rizin record to 8-2. He's a karateka with major power in his hands and good technique as well, plus good takedown defence to keep the bout standing. On the ground, he can defend against the average grappler and ocassionaly sneak in a submission of his own. He loves getting in an eventual slam, but what he loves most is looking to finish fights with his powerful punches. Shakbulatov is coming off a 1st round TKO win in ACA, where he spent his whole career and is a former title challenger. He's a sambo fighter with strong hands and nice head kicks, but his main gameplan is usually taking the fight to the ground and finding submissions. He seems capable enough to take Asakura down and advance past his defence, so I see him as the favourite.

Prediction: Shakhbulatov by 2nd round submission.

4. Heavyweight Bout: #12 Roy NELSON (23-19, -550) vs. #15 Philipe LINS (14-5, +430)

'Big Country' Roy Nelson is coming off being repeadetly beat up in Bellator, where he built a 1-5 record, after a lenghty 9-10 stint in the UFC. He was also the IFL HW champion, and gathered wins over Cro Cop, Bigfoot Silva and Big Nog. He's a brawler with scary power in his hands and still has a great chin despite his age, and he is way better than you'd expect on the ground, despite preferring to keep the fights standing. Philipe Lins is coming off an 0-2 run in the UFC. He's no stranger to the big leagues, as he went 3-3 in Bellator and 4-0 in the PFL before that, becoming PFL HW champion in the process. He's a decent boxer, but his main threat comes on the ground, and he's also got some powerful knees in the clinch. Still, we expect Big Country to eat him alive, so good luck Phil!

Prediction: Nelson by 1st round KO.

5. Heavyweight Tournament Quarter-Final: #4 Ben ROTHWELL (38-14, -180) vs. #6 Tanner BOSER (19-8-1, +140)

Well, after getting TKO'd by the man who was soon to become the first ever UBL Heavyweight champion, Big Ben gets his chance at redemption in the Heavyweight tournament, altho' he has to beat two great contenders to earn his title shot. Y'all know Ben: bombs in his hands, good takedowns, good clinch, not the hardest chin, loves to take someone's head off with his punches. Like Ben, Boser is coming off 2 Ls, with one being in the semi-finals of the inaugural tournament. Like Ben, he has a chance at earning another title shot, but he must climb two mountains first. Tanner is mainly a striker, with good strenght in his hands and low kicks, altho' his technique is not the most crisp. He's been working on his defensive ground game, but is still quite vulnerable to good submission artists. The winner of this bout will go on to face the winner of Stefan Struve vs. Ilir Latifi in the semi-finals.

Prediction: Rothwell by 3rd round KO.
