Noburo Ikoma vs. Ryunosuke Matsuki

Ever since his BCG World Heavyweight title run in 2014/2015 Noburo Ikoma has gradually fallen down the rankings of Black Canvas Grappling, unable to build on old successes. The year 2020 began already badly for him when an old knee injury took him out for most of January. Afterwards Ikoma was able to slowly get himself into match shape right before entering the Ace Summit, where he ended up on the lower end of his Block with 6 points, scoring victories against Shingen Miyazaki and surprise of the tournament Fuyuhiko Wakabayashi as well as one very lucky draw against Mabuchi Furusawa and another draw against Yoshinaka Taku. Ikoma is going into this match desperately needing a win against one of the major players to avoid losing touch with the company's top of the class. Ryunosuke Matsuki on the other hand had a good run in the Ace Summit scoring 12 points overall, but eventually losing two very important matches against later finalist Rokuemon Matsushita and Razan Okamoto, leaving him only on the fourth spot within his Block. Similar to Ikoma Matsuki needs to win tonight to climb up the ranking and eventually earn a shot at the GCG World Heavyweight title that the Money Makers are aiming to get their hands on so badly. Unfortunately for Ikoma Matsuki is on fire tonight and shows no mercy with his opponent, winning the match after (16m49s) by pinfall with the Mountain SUKI. [79]

Shingen Miyazaki & Masahiro Genji © vs. Tanyu Toshusai & Fuyuhiko Wakabayashi

Toshusai and Wakabayashi won this very match without the titles on the line past Friday on the 20th night of this year's Ace Summit Series, which is the reason why the BCG management awarded them a title match tonight. All four competitors have been part of the Ace Summit tournament where to the surprise of even experts of the scene Wakabayashi, a noname in Japan who joined BCG only this year and had worked in Australia before, scored 9 points in total and was fourth in his Block, ahead of Miyazaki and Genji. He defeated the former in their tournament match and drew with the latter. It is certainly not Wakabayashi's fault, that Miyazaki and Genji defend their belts successfully, as the Money Makers wear Toshusai systematically down and make sure, that he won't tag in his partner too often. In the end they win the match after (24m41s) when Genji pinned Toshusai with the Fusion Reactor. [71]

Big Bruiser Findlay © vs. Giant Brody

On Night VI of the Ace Summit Series Findlay and Brody collided with each other in a Block B tournament bout to remember, as both went for each other like mad men, eventually beating each other down with chairs and getting disqualified. Even after the bell had been rung several times both americans kept on brawling whereas Findlay suffered a cut from another chair shot delivered by his CRUSHADE team mate. Commentator Isei Deushi compared the two to wild animals in a turf war back then - tonight they will settle who is the alpha in their pack. Brody is even bigger than Findlay in terms of height and in terms of weight and once again he is on par with the champion for a long time in what can only be described as a vicious brawl, fought out not only in the ring, but also at the commentary tables, the entrance ramp and the audience area! Again both men make use of chairs, but not to an extent that would lead to a disqualification. Eventually they return to the ring where finally, after one last test of strength consisting of a clinch, a strike exchange and a Lariat exchange Brody is staggering. Findlay picks him up for the Oklahoma Stampede and ends the match after (22m44s) by pinfall, defending his belt against another member of his group. [71]

Bunrakuken Torii vs. Mabuchi Furusawa

This is a re-match of their Ace Summit Block B match on Night XVII, where both men drew when the time limit expired after 30 minutes. Torii was only one point ahead of Furusawa in their Block, advancing to the second round where he lost to fellow DGA member Rokuemon Matsushita. Both men are exceptional wrestlers who need a win in this match to position themselves in the Heavyweight title picture. In an action-packed and technically very sophisticated match both men have the potential to leave as the winner - Torii hits his Dangerous Forearm for a near fall and Furusawa connects with the Furusawa Armbar, bringing his opponent close to submission. Eventually though the match ended with another draw after (30m00s) when the time limit expired. [88]

Nichiren Funakoshi vs. Rokuemon Matsushita

And now for the match of the night, the tournament final of the 9th incarnation of the Ace Summit, formerly known as Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix. Nichiren Funakoshi has won this tournament three times and has been the only man so far to win it twice in a row. His last tournament win lies back in April 2016 when BCG was still a much smaller company with a limited and younger talent pool. Beneath these men Funakoshi was a supreme performer. Since then the competition has toughened with more and more wrestlers from Overseas coming in, with new opponents from disbanded Golden Canvas Grappling and other companies severly hit by the Tsunami joining the roster and with Funakoshi's peers, who have once been easy prey for the black lion, having grown up into fierce rivals. While remaining a top performer in BCG in the past 3 years Funakoshi always ended up on the losing side when gold was on the line, provoking the question if maybe the 33 years old just wasn't good enough anymore to wear gold in a constantly improving BCG. Then came Funakoshi's match against Mabuchi Furusawa for the BCG World Heavyweight title. Furusawa had defeated Matsushita, Torii and Okamoto one after another and finally it was Funakoshi, the original ace of BCG, who returned the belt into the hands of the BCG trueborns. Since then Funakoshi has proven, that he needs to be taken serious, ending the 1st round of the tournament as the only wrestler with a perfect clean sheet and the second round with a pinfall victory against practically invincible gaijin powerhouse and APWA champ Big Bruiser Findlay. With Rokuemon Matsushita a similar opponent awaits him in terms of size and fighting style. Matsushita's results in this year's Ace Summit aren't less impressive than Funakoshi's. He is also undefeated in the tournament, but had to live with one draw against Funakoshi's close friend and faction member Razan Okamoto. Other than that Matsushita scored his wins much faster than Funakoshi and has gradually developed into a seemingly unstoppable force in the past 5 years. He has been the winner of past year's Ace Summit, so there is additional pressure on Funakoshi, as Matsushita would be equal with him in terms of consecutive tournament wins should he manage to defeat Funakoshi tonight. Both men are major title holders with Funakoshi being the reigning BCG World Heavyweight Champion and Matsushita being the reigning GCG World Heavyweight Champion. In an exhausting match filled with near falls and epic moments Funakoshi gets the better of his opponent after (42m06s) when he delivers the Butterfly Backbreaker from the second rope and scores a pinfall over Matsushita. [76]

- It takes a little while after this battle of epic proportions before Funakoshi is the first of the two competitors to rise to his feet. The Ace Summit IX winner is celebrated in the winning ceremony including congratulations from Naonobu Murakami, Pistol Pete Hall, Yoshifusa Maeda as well as friends on the roster and a photo shoot with the trophies. Afterwards Funakoshi directs the obligatory words of thank towards the audience, before ending the show with a bang by challenging Rokuemon Matsushita for his GCG World Heavyweight title! The giant has long left the hall, but the challenge has been spoken out and given that Funakoshi just beat the champion his chances are very high to get the shot he asks for at the next big event.

<div style="max-width:90%; margin-left: 80px; margin-right: 80px;";">■ The contracts of BHOTWG employees Hiroyasu Gakusha and Matthew Keith are about to end in the course of this month. Even though Gakusha and Keith aren't part of the company's main event picture, both men are considered important members of the roster, that the management headed by CEO Tetsuzan Kaneko would like to extend deals with. In that regard they might get some unexpected competition as BCG owner Yoshifusa Maeda is interested in both men as well and preparing a contract offer, according to inside sources.

Gakusha has a long history with Maeda. He was his best student during Maeda's GCG days, before their ways parted with Maeda founding BCG and Gakusha staying with GCG as their figurehead. BCG already has four former GCG wrestlers on the roster.

■ There have been rumours that Yoshifusa Maeda is looking to bolster the roster further with suitable international talent. Maeda is said to be an advocate for especially american workers using a heavy-hitting in-ring style. Insiders claim that Pistol Pete Hall has traveled to Georgia to lead talks with American Buffalo to return into the ring. The former TCW mainstay has retired in February 2019 but is said to still be in great shape. Furthermore former USPW World Heavyweight Champion T-Rex has become a free agent this month after contract talks with the american company didn't lead to an agreement. Maeda is said to be observing the situation revolving around T-Rex as well.

■ This april three wrestlers have successfully graduated from the Black Dojo. While 21 years old Heavyweight Kawanari Aizawa didn't receive a contract offer, BCG hired both 18 years old Lightweight Kyoichi Yamanaka and 18 years old Heavyweight Tsuginori Okano on a handshake basis. Yamanaka is said to have a great look, but will have to increase his weight to play a serious role on BCG's main roster in the future. According to the Black Dojo trainers Okano is a great brawler and could turn into a solid wrestler, but has attracted some negative attention in the past due to attitude problems. From WWA: Japan BCG has also signed Ryoichi Higoshi for their Young Lions stable. All three men were sent on excursions with partner companies to gather experience before their official debut for BCG.

What a great show! I am so glad Matsuki got the win, he has always been my favourite Cornellverse character. Hopefully he'll get to challenge for the GCG World title soon regardless of if it Funokoshi or Matsushita holding it. I'm really interested to see if you pick up American Buffalo and how he fits into you plans. I've never given him any thought as a BCG guy, but thinking about it he would be a pretty decent fit. Really enjoying reading this and looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Laying a hand on the back of his son he said, that he couldn't even put into words how happy it makes him on top of that, that a Taku is still playing a big role in the game and that he was able to fight side by side with his son. Still, he had put some thought into what the future might bring for him in the past few weeks and came to the conclusion, that it might be time to leave active competition behind and to transition into a role, that suits a man of his age better. This is their third match this year with the two previous matches ending in a draw. Thus this match was set up as a no time limit match to leave them enough room to find a clear winner. Both competitors are currently positioning themselves for a title shot. In arguably the best BCG match of 2020 so far filled with epic moments, Bunrakuken Torii defeated Mabuchi Furusawa after (34m46s) by pinfall with a Dangerous Forearm [90]

Rokuemon Matsushita © vs. Nichiren Funakoshi

Once again, Matsushita against Funakoshi in a main event. This time Matsushita's GCG World Heavyweight title is on the line. Reigning BCG World Heavyweight Champion Funakoshi has earned this shot by defeating the japanese giant in the final match of the Ace Summit IX after 42 minutes. This match is his historic chance to unify both titles and to cement his position as the absolute champion of BCG. Both men are giving their all again in an even fight with each of them landing a finishing maneuver at the 20 minute mark, but unable to gather the victory afterwards. At minute 28 in the key moment of the match Funakoshi's shoulder is injured after a Body Slam on the bare concrete outside of the ring. Matsushita can use this to his advantage afterwards, systematically attacking this body portion with further power moves and ending the match with a Choke Slam after (31m07s) by pinfall. [75]

- The roles are reversed this time - now Matsushita has defeated the reigning BCG World Heavyweight Champion. And just like Funakoshi did at the end of the final Ace Summit show Matsushita requests a shot at the BCG World Heavyweight title, claiming that he knows now how to defeat the ace and that he could repeat it.

This is absolutely fantastic - I can’t believe how many shows you’ve got through already! But it’s at a good level of detail to understand the key points of what’s happening, which works for a company like BCG.

I was a bit unsure about how many titles you were using given the size of the roster, but it’s worked really well so far. The Funakoshi-Matsushita story is excellent, and I’m excited to see where Furusawa ends up given his recent luck!

Alright, I'm all caught up. Gotta admit the switch from default names and images means I gotta put a little extra effort, but it's well worth it.

I'd say you're heading towards a title unification match, but since you added all the titles to keep everyone busy, a potential double champion scenario sounds more likely. Which in turn poses the question of how you have a double champion lose only one of two titles, but I'm getting ahead of myself. I trust you have a plan for it all.

<strong>Razan Okamoto vs. Masahiro Genji</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:left;"><p>Since joining Black Canvas Grappling in January 2020 Masahiro Genji has had a successful run, winning the GCG World Heavyweight Tag Team titles along fellow Money Makers member Shingen Miyazaki, but few chances to prove his worth as a singles competitor. The last GCG Openweight Champion before the company closed it's doors was always considered a diamond in the rough and a potential future Heavyweight Champion. So far the 'Lion from Tokyo' could not fulfill this promise, but at 30 years he is at his physical peak and still has his best years in the tank. His opponent is the youngest and arguably most talented of the already exceptional four Pillars Of The Sky, Razan Okamoto. Okamoto has used the beginning of this year to increase his body weight, eliminating his only flaw and looking better than ever now. His style in the ring has also changed with Okamoto using his new power to work slowlier and more methodical, but to hit much stronger. Both men have a hard fought contest, that leaves enough room for Genji to demonstrate his qualities but eventually sees Okamoto as the winner after <strong>(24m22s)</strong> by pinfall with a Brainbuster Suplex. <strong>[72]</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Big Bruiser Findlay © vs. Ryunosuke Matsuki</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:left;"><p>This is Matsuki's second singles title match this year since challenging for the BCG World Heavyweight title in January, where he had to admit defeat against Funakoshi after about 32 minutes. With all major singles titles in the hands of Funakoshi-gun, the Devil Grappling Army and CRUSHADE the Money Makers are struggling to get their hand on some gold, especially on the GCG title that is their main aim and considered theirs by right of heritage. The bout between Findlay and Matsuki starts evenly and includes some good offensive from SUKI, but transitions slowly but steadily into a showcase of dominance by the Big Bruiser. In the ending phase Matsuki barely survives for a while, but doesn't look like he's coming back into the match soon. Eventually Findlay defeated Matsuki after <strong>(25m56s)</strong> by pinfall with an Oklahoma Stampede and remains one of the men the most difficult to beat in BCG. <strong>[79]</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Nichiren Funakoshi © vs. Rokuemon Matsushita</strong></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:left;"><p>Whatever is going to happen in this match, one thing is for certain - Rokuemon Matsushita has finally risen into the highest echelons of Black Canvas Grappling this year, winning 41 out of 67 matches he was involved in and losing only one singles match so far. Of all, his opponent in this match was Funakoshi, who left Matsushita behind in the race for the Ace Summit IX, the most prestigous tournament of the company. Two months ago Matsushita defeated the this year equally successful Funakoshi to defend his GCG World Heavyweight title, after Funakoshi asked for a title match as part of his tournament prize and as a result of his pinfall victory over the champion. But Funakoshi was injured during the match and many spectators put the victory in question in the aftermath. So here is their third match in 2020, this time with a convalescent Funakoshi's BCG World Heavyweight title on the line. This leaves the same historic chance for Matsushita, that Funakoshi has had in May - to unify both titles. Again, both men give their all and put on a performance to remember in a match characterized by near falls and displays of passion and fighting spirit, putting the audience on the edge of their seats several times. In the end, after <strong>(38m21s)</strong> Funakoshi gets the Butterfly Backbreaker from the second rope through, brings Matsushita back up onto his feet, makes him stagger with a brutal Lariat and finally pins the giant with a Bridging German Suplex. <strong>[81]</strong></p><p> </p><p>

- After the match Funakoshi points out that what the people in this arena just witnessed was REAL Canvas Grappling. He congratulates his opponent Matsushita, as even though he lost tonight he has proven again to be a true student of the Roaring Lion Style and one of BCG's best. Funakoshi thanks his DGA rival for bringing the best out of him by being such a great challenger and the audience for backing him up, not only tonight but in the whole course of this year so far. He says that he would like to hold this belt at least until the 1st January of 2021 - what happens afterwards would be in the stars, but this is his goal for 2020.</p></div><p></p><p></div></p><p> </p><p>

Gosh darn right Dalton is the best as predictions.

Surprised to see Copland get the pin, although I know you're obviously pushing him hard.

I am bewildered by the fact that Matsushita went over 30 minutes. I typically can't get 15 out of him without being blown up like a hot air balloon

That'd be TEW16 Matsushita. He's pretty decent in vanilla TEW20, I used to get proper 30' matches regularly out of him, though he was certainly aided by the fact that I used Slow Build for those.

Maeda said that BCG had won a bidding war with no less than the Supreme Wrestling Federation to acquire the services of said wrestler, who the BCG owner sees as a fantastic asset for his company.
