Billy Jack Haynes
versus
Jake Roberts

In a bout that had great heat, good wrestling and got the show off to a strong start,
Jake Roberts
defeated
Billy Jack Haynes
in 10:12 by pinfall with a DDT following interference from
Randy Savage
! This one had the crowd cooking, with Billy Jack holding the crowd in the palm of his hands, and Jake, wishing to crush them in his. Hugging his briefcase obsessively, Jake is hesitant to put it down at the start of the match, with Billy Jack egging him on to get to things. Once in the ring, Jake is exceedingly hesitant once more, and barely allows Billy Jack to open up much offense. Before you know it, Savage has hit the ring and catches Billy Jack in the back with a spectator’s chair! Haynes is stung by the bite of the wood panels, collapsing to his knees. Jake has the referee distracted, and breaks away just in time to grab Haynes by the neck and crush him with his vicious DDT maneuver! Savage laughs his way back to the locker room while Billy Jack is in a bad way, and Jake immediately skates out with his coveted possession.

Back from the commercial break,
Bill Mercer
interviews the
Rock N' Roll Express
, who express certainly their excitement for their tag team title match against
the Midnight Express
, but don't like how things went down.
Ricky Morton
brings up to Mercer how last week
The Fantastics
were cheated out of their chances thanks to the tag team champs… chances at perhaps taking another big shot at the tag team titles, but nevertheless, the Rock N’ Roll Express are gonna do what it takes to beat the champs

We cut to another interview, this time
Bill Mercer
is joined by the one, the only,
”Manager of Champions” Gary Hart
! Hart is looking better this time around, having lost the bandage and instead sporting a mean scar on the side of his forehead. Wearing his trademark sunglasses, Hart is all business, no games in this interview. He makes a serious threat to
Jake Roberts
, the man who attacked him weeks ago, and
Chris Adams
, the man who dumped him last week! Mercer says he’s sure had a tough go of things, and Hart gets upset, asking if Mercer thinks he’s a funny guy. Hart says there’s nothing funny about the future of Chris Adams and Jake Roberts, calling them dead men walking, patting the back of the big bruiser beside him, new client
Hercules Hernandez
! He says Chris Adams might know a thing or two in the ring because he taught him so, but with no manager in his corner moving forward, and that hunk of lard
Gino Hernandez
always chompin’ in his ear, Adams stands no chance against the might and foe of one Hercules Hernandez! He promises, the end is near for both men, and they won’t soon forget it!

On to more important news, now
Bill Mercer
meets NWA Texas Heavyweight champ
Gino Hernandez
, and the man with the quarter-million dollar briefcase,
Jake Roberts
, outside of a Texas steakhouse. They appear to have just finished eating a fine meal, and Bill tracks them down outside of the restaurant. Gino is visibly displeased to see “journalist” Bill Mercer on the scene. He asks just what the heck Mercer wants, and Mercer says he wants a decision on the ultimatum offered by
David
and
Kerry Von Erich
... If the Von Erichs beat Gino and Jake this upcoming weekend at the March Star Wars event, David gets a Texas title shot and Kerry gets a match for the infamous briefcase! Mercer calls it no small feat to beat the team of David and Kerry, and asks if Gino and Jake think they have what it takes to take on two of Texas’ best.

Jake cuts Bill off and tells him to hold his horses.
”The Von Erich ain’t nothin’ to worry about Bill.”
He quickly belches, catching Mercer off guard.
”David Von Erich… Kerry Von Erich… Kevin Von Erich… Um… Mike Von Erich… I think it’s then Dopey Von Erich, Dumpy Von Erich, Sleepy Von Erich… yadayadayada, the list goes on Bill! You see, it doesn’t matter which of those Von Erich brothers you send out there, because each of ‘em got one price to pay. And that’s the price of what you have right here in this quarter-million dollar briefcase, you understand? Do you understand Bill? I don’t think you understand because here you are stopping us from-”
Jake is getting real testy and Gino cuts him off with an arm over the chest! Mercer is backing up and Jake is caught off guard. Gino looks at him, nods, and Jake is visibly upset, turning away from the interview and walking in and out of the camera shot, displeased as ever.

”Jake, Jake, calm down brother. Calm down. There ain’t no point in gettin’ all worked up by a wanna-be journalist like Bill Mercer here coming up and trying to interrupt our good time for a “hot lead”... a “quick take”.... There’s no story here Mercer, move along…”
Gino encourages Bill take steps out of the camera shot but Mercer is adamant, he wants an answer!

”You want an answer!? You need an answer Bill!? Fine! Well here’s your answer! You think we’re afraid of the Von Erichs? Like the Von Erichs might, haunt us in our dreams? Keep us awake at night? Think again, brother! We’re the creatures of the night standing right here, that’s right! Jake “The Snake” slithers... he crawls under your bed, and he makes sure you keep one eye open just so you watch your own demise! And Gino “The Handsome Halfbreed” is the prettiest beast of them all, and by now you ought to know no Von Erich can stand-up to the awesome talents of “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez! There’s no problem saying YES to this ultimatum, because by the end of our match at Reunion Arena, the Von Erichs are going to be done and over with, you understand!? Done! I mean it! Finished! Vanquished! Nothing, no more, or ever, again!”

Brian Adias
versus
Chris Adams

In a good match which got the crowd hotter,
Chris Adams
defeated
Brian Adias
in 6:50 by pinfall with a Superkick after a distraction from
Gino Hernandez
. Adias and Adams went quick to working each other with a series of throws and holds, before Adams resorts to heel tactics to gain the upper hand, including two failed roll up attempts clenching the tights. All it took was a little help from a friend, when as the other half of the Dynamic Duo hit the ring and got into it with Adias. Brian was telling Gino to hit the locker room, giving Adams the perfect chance to catch Brian with a big Superkick!

wZwWA3j.png

MCv8dg3.png1muKkhq.pngJ4soFJE.png

Following his win, Adias is driven back to his locker room, leaving
Chris Adams
and
Gino Hernandez
standing side by side together. They gave the Denton County faithful a piece of their mind, as “The Gentleman” took to the microphone. Adams was pissed off, and he let the crowd know it. He says
Gary Hart
is a bum of a manager, and
Hercules Hernandez
is a bum of an ape who stomps around the ring like it’s a zoo! Chris says he wants Hercules at the upcoming March Star Wars event, one-on-one, to put Gary Hart to an end!

XpYlD8K.png

But unexpectedly, out comes
Jerry Blackwell
, who confronts Adams directly in the ring, bumping chests with both Adams and Gino! The crowd shows support for the big man, who has a microphone of his own and pokes his finger in the chest of Chris Adams! Blackwell says he came out to challenge Adams one-on-one too, since Adams thinks he’s such a big, tough guy! Adams is laughing off the situation, but Blackwell doesn’t find it funny. Chris looks at Jerry and tells him that, unfortunately, he can only take on one buffon at a time, and Jerry is going to have to wait his turn.

Blackwell doesn’t want to wait for any time but now, and delivers a big right hand to Adams! Gino steps up… and wham! Another big right! Blackwell starts firing off rights to the Dynamic Duo as the fans erupt! He quickly focused solely on Adams, handing down quite a beating. Luckily for Chris, his tag team partner would recover enough to separate Blackwell from him and prevent further damage, allowing both men a chance to escape. Jerry is left in the ring challenging them for more, while Chris and Gino back up the aisle way, tending to their wounds.

Kerry Von Erich
and
The Fantastics

versus
One Man Gang
and
The Midnight Express

In a good match,
Kerry Von Erich
and
The Fantastics
defeated
One Man Gang
and
The Midnight Express
in 13:45 when
Bobby Fulton
pinned
Dennis Condrey
with a Flying Body Press. It was a battle for revenge for the babyfaces, who had the crowd in the palm of their hands. They were giving in early to the heels, who dominated the first portion of the match, but Tommy Rogers a hot rally to shift the momentum over to them. His hot tag to Kerry blew the lid off the crowd, as he rolled through his opponents with powerful left and rights.

The Jim Cornette managed team tried to turn the tables when Cornett jumped on the apron to distract the referee, allowing the Midnights to gang up on Kerry, alongside OMG, and delivered a massive assisted powerbomb in the middle of the ring! Kerry withered in pain as the ref turned his attention back to the action and cleared out the ring. OMG went back to work on Kerry, who was desperately able to block one punch and return a discus punch of his own!

This gave Bobby Fulton the opportunity to be the hero, igniting the crowd with some charismatic gestures as he battled off the mighty One Man Gang. Fulton looked really good fighting off his sizable foe, who was able to escape and tag in Dennis Condrey. While the tag team champ came in hot, it wasn’t enough to slow down Fulton, who hit another big series of moves before taking to the top rope. The other heels tried to run in and knock Fulton off the top rope, but his partners made the save and prevented disaster! Condrey then got to his feet and succumbed to a mighty flying crossbody for the one, two, three! The Dallas crowd popped again as Kerry and Tommy hit the ring to celebrate their win, while Jim Cornett cried and wailed on the outside! Sweet vengeance, indeed!

I've just taken the time to get caught up on this after falling a little behind. Just fantastic work all around OGpistolpete. Show after show, you seem to effortlessly capture the unique vibe of WCCW with your writing style.

The segment with Gino Hernandez/Jake Roberts in the steakhouse on the last show was a real highlight. You write both characters so well. I love the dynamic between the pair.

Davey Boy Smith versus Matt Borne

I am going to be the odd one out here. This is not the WWF Davey Boy, so I think his popularity is not that high yet. So I am going with Doink.

Davey Boy Smith
versus
Matt Borne

In a decent opening match,
Davey Boy Smith
defeated
Matt Borne
in 5:43 by pinfall with a Running Powerslam. The former entered the ring sporting a Union Jack flag on a caped-jacket, drawing comparison to the old entrances of another fellow English-native, Chris Adams. While his in-ring work is a bit different than Adams, Davey Boy continues to draw solid reactions from the Texas faithful, as he made good work of trailer park trash Matt Borne! A big singles win on a big stage for Davey Boy further advances his rank in the World Class territory.

One Man Gang ©
versus
Iceman King Parsons

In a decent match,
One Man Gang ©
defeated
Iceman King Parsons
in 7:41 by pinfall with a 747 Splash after
Jim Cornette
interfered. While good vibes carried over from the opening match to a veteran babyface of the Texas territory, Iceman Parsons, all of his boogie-woogie wasn’t enough to overcome the odds against a big man like OMG, and the dirty tactics of his manager. Cornette played a vital role in this one, perhaps saving his client from ultimate defeat late in the match, giving One Man Gang defence number two of the WCCW Television title.

Brian Adias
and
Mike Von Erich
versus
The Fabulous Ones

In a decent match,
Brian Adias
and
Mike Von Erich
defeated
The Fabulous Ones
in 7:23 when
Mike Von Erich
pinned
Steve Keirn
with a flying crossbody. While the heels from Memphis haven’t quite found the success they were looking for when taking a shot down in Dallas, the impromptu duo of Brian and Mike continues to grow in favor, earning another respected victory at tonight’s Star Wars. The combination of Brian’s solid ground game with Mike’s fast-moving attacks (shades of his brother, Kevin) have served them well, with Mike consistently playing the hero on the hot tags. His flying crossbodies are becoming some of the best in the business, and this time it’s too much for Keirn and his partner to overcome!

Jerry Blackwell
versus
Rick Rude

In a decent match,
Jerry Blackwell
defeated
Rick Rude
in 9:25 by pinfall after a dropkick. The 474 lbs. meatball of a man’s popularity continues to skyrocket in the Mid-South area, having nearly doubled since debuting in Texas. Blackwell attitude and slight Southern-drawl appeals to the blue collar workers in the Dallas-Ft. Worth region, with a rough-and-tough persona about him, having shown no fear since stepping into a World Class ring. On the other side, Rick Rude appeals to almost nobody in the Reunion Arena crowd, and they let him know it. In fact, Rude continues to embody everything the local fans hate about some people in society… arrogant, narcissistic, vain… Rick Rude is all of that and more. And with Rude’s physique, he is able to stand up to the nearly immovable forces of Jerry Blackwell, giving him a real run for his money but unfortunately unable to cheat his way to a victory in the end. Blackwell would reverse a dirty attack by Rude, able to avoid disaster and nail Rude with a monsterous dropkick as he came back off the ropes!

The Fantastics
versus
The Long Riders

In a good match,
The Long Riders
defeated
The Fantastics
in 13:32 when
Scott Irwin
submitted
Tommy Rogers
after blatantly cheating. The territory’s favorite tag team, a combination of
Bobby Fulton
and partner Rogers, who recently lost the NWA American Tag Team titles. This time, a new challenge, yet old for many in the crowd. Returning from their stint as the NWA National Tag Team champions, The Long Riders returned to Reunion Arena for the first time in half a year. Finding themselves on a similar quest of tag team title gold as their opponents tonight, the rough and tough duo of the Irwin brothers showed the Fantastic-faithful just why they are so feared across all of the nation. The Fantastics, however, wouldn’t go down easy, but Irwin’s well-timed shot to the family jewels of Tommy Rogers was all they needed to earn the victory and perhaps set the Fantastics back yet another step! The Fantastics were visibly displeased after the match, petitioning to the officials, but it was to no avail.

Billy Jack Haynes
versus
Randy Savage

In a good match that got the crowd hotter,
Randy Savage
defeated
Billy Jack Haynes
in 15:38 when Billy Jack Haynes submitted Randy Savage in a Full Nelson Lock… only for referee
Rick Hazard
to recover from being knocked unconscious temporarily and demand a reversal of the decision! The crowd was hot from the get-go for this match, one between two of the hottest rising stars in World Class wrestling. The two put on a solid performance, highlighted by Randy showcasing some of his technical prowess in attempts to one-up Billy Jack in the ring. However, Haynes was able to rely on much of his powerhouse physique to physically punish the smaller Savage when he was able to get his hands firmly on him.

While some of the crowd seemed to support Randy, the overwhelming majority favored the talents of one Billy Jack, who played up to the crowd’s demeanor. Savage, on the other hand, relished in the negativity he received from all four sides of the ring. For Savage, as well, another cheap victory over Billy Jack, a man he is confident he is better than, any day of the week. Albeit, Savage has yet to prove it in true fashion. Instead, he relies this time on the referee convincing his fellow officials that Billy Jack should be disqualified. With the action having ceased, Haynes is watching over the proceedings, and begins to interject in protest! The officials aren’t having it, and after Billy Jack puts his hands on Rick Hazard, he immediately calls for the bells and disqualifies Haynes! The Dallas crowd can’t believe it! Savage is declared the winner and leaves Reunion Arena with another big, undeserved, smile on his face.

NWA American Tag Team Championship

The Midnight Express ©
versus
Rock N’ Roll Express

In a good match that got the crowd hotter,
The Midnight Express ©
defeated the
Rock N' Roll Express
in 17:17 when
Bobby Eaton
pinned
Robert Gibson
with The Rocket Launcher following interference from
Bill and Scott Irwin, the Long Riders
! Not only would the Long Riders spoil the hopes of the Dallas audience in their earlier match against the former tag champs, but now they are interfering in the results of the actual tag team title match as well! After all was said and done,
Jim Cornette
looked a bit shocked by what had happened, as though he had no idea the Long Riders would even attempt something of the sort. But it wasn’t all fun and games for Cornette, who would end up in the ring across from the Long Riders, who proceeded to threaten the tag champs as well! The fans egged on the Irwin brothers to get into some action with the Midnights, but Cornette convinced his men to stand down and take on this fight another day. Needless to say, the Long Riders were left standing as though they were soon enough on top of the tag team division in a very short amount of time. The Midnight Express make defence number one of the NWA American Tag Team titles.

Chris Adams
versus
Hercules Hernandez

In a good match,
Chris Adams
defeated
Hercules Hernandez
in 14:01 by pinfall with a Superkick following botched interference by
Gary Hart
! That’s right! The so-called, “Manager of Champions” tried to get his hands on Adams during his new client’s big time match against his former client. Revenge was on the mind of Hart, who was trash-talking Adams the entire time they were out with each other inside and around the ring! The fans seemed 100% on-board with Chris Adams in this one, showing signs of when Adams were first a babyface when he joined World Class, before turning on the Von Erichs and joining forces with his current tag team partner. Perhaps that’s just how despised Gary Hart is amongst the World Class faithful, willing to throw their support behind another one of Texas’ most hated heels.

For Chris Adams, he was willing to throw all of his might into his offense against Hercules, who vastly other powered him. Adams moved as quick as he could to stay a step ahead of Hercules, but for those who had seen Hernandez in action, he is quick too, despite his size. There was no shortage of punishment dished out to Adams, as Hercules was out to prove himself to his new manager. No better opportunity to do so than against his former client. Hart shouted instructions from ringside, coaching Hernandez through various sequences, most of which resulting in Hercules maintaining the upper-hand.

But simply coaching wouldn’t be enough for Hart. He had to get blood on his hands, and it had to be Chris Adams’ blood. So, in coordinated efforts with his new client, Hart ascended to the apron and attempted to attack “The Gentleman” with Japanese kendo stick, but instead Adams ducked his swing and the stick landed on the head of Hercules! Hernandez took to the mat, downed and out, and would attempt to recover with one final go at it, only to walk straight into a big Superkick from Adams to secure the victory! Once the official called it, Hart threw a tantrum on the outside, while Adams forced Hercules out of the ring and taunted both from the inside. For Adams, sweet reinforcement that he had perhaps made the right choice finally leaving his long-time manager, and for Gary Hart, perhaps a giant disruption to his master plan of one day managing a world champion...

wZwWA3j.png

Qz4Bw0e.pngMCv8dg3.pngspcOm5T.pngK3TAeqR.png

Just when we thought it was over, out runs the returning
Kevin Von Erich
! He’s running full-steam ahead towards the outside and pummels
Hercules Hernandez
with a bunch of unexpected blows to the head! Kevin’s moving as if his shorts are on fire, beating up Hercules so bad he sends him flying to the floor!
Gary Hart
can’t believe it, and pleads for Kevin not to attack him, but as Kevin slowly approaches Hart with his fist cocked-n-loaded,
Chris Adams
grabs his attention from inside the ring!

Adams eggs Kevin on, challenging him to get in the ring and “get what was coming to him”. Kevin didn’t think twice about it, overcoming a series of stomps as soon as he slid in, but soon over powering Chris with an overwhelming desire for revenge since Chris and Hercules injured his ankle last month on Championship Sports! The fans light up as Kevin counters Adams with a series of fists, and proceeds to throw him off the ropes right into a huge flying crossbody! But Kevin isn’t done there! Adams stumbles into a corner, and here comes Kevin, flying from almost across the ring with another crossbody attack in the corner! Adams falls towards the middle of the ring, and “The Cosmic Cowboy” jumps on the top rope, raising his arms to the fans excitement! And there he goes! Kevin leaps into the air to deliver a monstrous flying slam to set the crowd on fire!

There’s no question about it now, Kevin’s ankle is healed and he looks as good as ever! Just as Kevin is ready to deliver even more punishment to Adams, officials hit the ring and break up the fight, as Hart and Hercules slowly make their way to the back, perhaps, planning their next move...

Lumberjack Ultimatum Match

David
and
Kerry Von Erich
versus
Gino Hernandez
and
Jake Roberts

In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat,
David
and
Kerry Von Erich
defeated
Gino Hernandez
and
Jake Roberts
in 21:48 when David Von Erich submitted Gino Hernandez with the Iron Claw! With the ultimatum of a lifetime at stake, all four men gave it their all in this one. Gino, fighting off another Texas title shot for David, and Jake, trying to ensure he doesn’t have to put his coveted secret briefcase on the line in a singles match against Kerry. For the Von Erichs, however, it felt like this match was worth even more than what was on-the-line for them, including Kerry committing to never wrestling in another World Class match again if he were to walk away a loser.

Jake “The Snake” Roberts was determined to make this happen, working Kerry the majority of the match and able to outsmart the young vet at various points in time, giving the World Class faithful more than enough anxiety. On the outside, the rest of the World Class roster didn’t hold back on their lumberjack responsibilities, beating down both Kerry and Jake when either were sent tumbling to the outside. On the opposite end, David looked poised and in control when fighting Gino, who seemed like he wanted nothing to do with facing off against David, especially after a narrow call last month. But for David, knowing he may never be able to challenge for his most prized wrestling belt ever again, he pulled a little something extra out to ensure victory. Gino found himself sacrificed to the wolves on the outside multiple times, helping David’s case, many of the babyfaces eager to get their hands on the Texas title belt holder.

The lumberjacks on the outside were able to keep things in order, that is, however, until things got a little dicey in the finish involving David, Gino, and referee
David Manning
. The head official for this one was knocked out unceremoniously, giving Gino enough time to do what he could to mount some sort of opposition to the inevitable application of the world famous Iron Claw! But when secondary official
Rick Hazard
jumped in to replace Manning, this spoiled Gino’s plans of dirtying his way through the end. Instead, “The Yellow Rose of Texas”, David Von Erich, was able to clinch on the claw and secure the win for him and his brother! As the bell rang, Jake looked distraught while the entire audience clammered for their heroes! It was a close call for the homegrown superstars, but even against one of their toughest challenges yet, they were able to overcome the forces of greed and evil to secure the win and another chance soon at redemption!

wZwWA3j.png

EnNssyd.png5JRgdhb.png1muKkhq.png9I2GCdo.png

As the fans celebrates, the
Von Erichs
embrace in the ring and the heels are furious!
Gino Hernandez
is recovering to the side, while
Jake Roberts
jumps to the outside and immediately grabs his briefcase! He’s yelling at the fans along the way, yelling at the officials… yelling at anyone and anything! He makes his way through the clutter of other roster members, who are all discussing amongst themselves what just happened, some trying to move out of Jake’s way, others perhaps not so concerned. Clutching the briefcase, Jake is now trying to make his way out of the scene, while the Texas fans close to him are letting him have it! But then, all of the sudden…

spcOm5T.png

Hercules Hernandez
jumps on camera with a mighty double axe handle to the back of Jake Roberts’ head! He drops the briefcase and Hercules proceeds to hurl rights and lefts to the head and back of Roberts! Those around them don’t knw what to do! Do they break up this fight! Or let things take its course? That’s right when
Chris Adams
gets involved and tries to breakaway Hercules from Jake… but he’s unsuccessful when
Jerry Blackwell
pummels Adams from behind and they start going at it! The fans notice things are getting out of hand now, especially when
The Midnight Express
run from across the other side and jump
The Fantastics
!

It really gets out of hand when
Kerry Von Erich
exits the ring to help save the Fantastics, but he’s stopped by
One Man Gang
! Kerry takes a few blows from the WCCW Television champion, but a new face appears to save Kerry from the cheapshots,
Davey Boy Smith
! Followed behind by his partner
Owen Hart
, Davey Boy makes sure OMG can’t get anymore shots on Kerry, and gets the TV champ isolated and beaten down until he runs away! The fans keep cheering as the situation continues to unwind and get out of control! The timekeeper starts ringing the bell as EVERYBODY is now fighting! Twenty-plus men are attacking one another all around the ring, the camera has a hard time keeping up with the action!

Shots of
Randy Savage
and
Billy Jack Haynes
brawling once more are caught candidly, while the camera man tries to get some highlights of
Kevin Von Erich
now attacking Chris Adams! The latter’s partner, Gino Hernandez, is trying to stay out of things, while other heels attack
David Von Erich
who's trying to make his way over to the Texas champ. But perhaps most importantly, Jake Roberts and Hercules Hernandez are still battling it out, and we see the briefcase is getting flung around the outside. All of the sudden, midcarder
Kelly Kiniski
picks up the briefcase and appears to make an attempt to escape with it! He’s quickly knocked down by
Mike Von Erich
, who forces him to drop the briefcase, while
Brian Adias
is close by to pick it up! Adias seems to understand what’s happening in the moment, and also tries to escape but he’s cut off by Gino Hernandez, who kicks him in the gut and clobbers him over the top, forcing the briefcase to the ground! Now, Gino picks it up! The fans are losing their minds as Gino is now holding the briefcase close to his chest and tries to flee the scene! And just when Gino thinks he’s free and clear, from across the aisleway, Hercules Hernandez comes from out of nowhere once more and shoulder tackles him with serious force!

K3TAeqR.png

The briefcase goes flying in the air, and there’s
Gary Hart
! He grabs the briefcase and picks it up, then looks at his client Hercules and urges him to escape with him! Hercules stands over Gino before acknowledging his manager and the two run through the curtains and to the back! A few moments later, Jake Roberts is on the scene and runs through the curtains, chasing down Gary Hart with his two-hundred fifty thousand dollar briefcase!
Bill Mercer
continues going wild on commentary, and can’t believe what he’s just seen! Jake’s lost his briefcase, and Gary Hart now controls its destiny!

Gary Hart and Hercules Hernandez have the briefcase!

Author's Note

Just want to give a quick thanks again to everyone who has followed along for the ride so far, and many thanks as well to those who have participated in the prediction contest so far! I'm incredibly blessed to have made it three months into the story so far, and I have to say I'm just as excited to continue booking and writing as I was when I first started, if not even more invested. This diary has provided me the opportunity to watch a lot of old school wrestling, and hopefully present a sense of nostalgia not found often on these boards. I find myself still fascinated by the World Class territory and am still working my way through a lot of their old TV tapings and Star Wars events (a lot recently added on YouTube worth checking out). I can't believe I am already through the return of David Von Erich and now at the point where Jake has lost his briefcase and Gary Hart is now in control. Many new characters are emerging and new webs of complications continue to weave themselves through the members of the roster. I'm excited to see how everything shakes out. I do book ahead, mostly, but I must say a lot of what I write is put together on the spot and I'm becoming fascinated by sometimes having not much of a clue where a show will end up but somehow reaching a conclusion I am more than satisfied with as the author.

With that said, I know it's been awhile since I've followed up with the third rendition of Wrestling Star Wars. A lot going on in my life that is holding up being able to sit down as frequently and churn out shows, but I have continued long term booking for the time being and am working to setting up an epic Parade of Champions event in May 1985, the go-home show for World Class. We can expect a conclusion to plenty of stories, all of which I have been working towards since the start of this diary. I am super excited to keep forging my way there and hope those reading continue to follow along.

As I take a small break to recharge the batteries, I want to share a character update for the roster, to provide more biographical context to some of the characters, starting with the major babyfaces. I know many of these characters are not very familiar, so I hope something like this allows readers a better sense of the characters at play: who they are, what they were like, what their known for, and what has happened to them so far in our story. I hope this provides a bit of a recap for months January through March and a nice segway into the month of April!

WCCW Babyfaces,

“The Yellow Rose of Texas”
David Von Erich

David Von Erich
is the second-oldest son of Fritz Von Erich, owner and promoter of World Class Championship Wrestling. David is tall, standing at six feet and eight inches with long, dirty blonde hair, and seemingly never backs down from a fight. Despite his size, David moves fairly quick in the ring, and tends to also get up for big drop kicks and flying crossbodies at almost every opportunity. After unsuccessfully challenging Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight championship, David went on excursion to Japan, until returning at the January 1985 Wrestling Star Wars event. Upon returning, David’s homecoming was almost tear-shedding, as the Texas-faithful were all happy to welcome back one of their own. Not so ready? “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez, and his colleagues Chris Adams and Jake Roberts. Gino has held the NWA Texas Heavyweight title since June 1984, when David vacated it to leave for the Orient.

But now, David is back, and he wants his belt too. He failed to win in his returning singles debut against Gino for the title at the February 1985 Star Wars event, thanks to interference at the hands of Gino’s tag team partner, Chris Adams. In attempts to convince Hernandez to give him another title shot, David was willing to bet if he couldn’t beat Gino, against Jake Roberts as well, alongside his brother Kerry, he didn’t deserve to challenge for the belt ever again. Unfortunately for the champ, David and Kerry were victorious, and now David has his sights set on another epic showdown with Gino Hernandez, as the upcoming Parade of Champions event to be held from the world famous Texas Stadium in May!

NFysTQZ.png

“The Modern Day Warrior”
Kerry Von Erich

Kerry Von Erich
is perhaps the most famous of all the Von Erich brothers, having already frequented challenges for the NWA World Heavyweight championship, including much lauded matches against the likes of Ric Flair and Harley Race. One likely reason for that may be both Kerry’s excellent working rate in the ring (he is typically regarded as the best worker of all his brothers), and his incredible physique. Since high school Kerry has had all of the girls lining up for autographs and many college scouts interested in his talents, but for Kerry, the only future education he has been interested in is in the ring against the world’s best professional wrestlers. Kerry is mighty and quick, and typically showcases his strength by lifting his opponents up high for body slams and knocking them out cold with waking discus punches. Known for his incredible amateur discus throw Texas state records, Kerry is a well- currently the NWA American Heavyweight champion, carrying on his father’s legacy of the belt. Kerry has been forming a legacy of his own, however, with perhaps the biggest highlight of his career coming on Christmas Day in 1982, when his challenge against Ric Flair in a steel cage match was interrupted by Terry Gordy of the Fabulous Freebirds slamming the cage door in the face of Kerry! This was after the Freebirds offered Kerry help to beat Flair, but Kerry refused, not interested in cheating his way to victory. This would spark the now famous Freebirds/Von Erich feud of 83/84, in which the Von Erichs would walk out on top, even despite the departure of brother David.

Entering 1985, it may be just a matter of time before Kerry is on his way to another world’s title shot. But for now, he finds himself in the crosshairs of wicked forces in World Class wrestling, including the likes of Jake Roberts and Manager Gary Hart, both determined in their own right to destroy the Von Erichs and remove them from their position of power in professional wrestling. Kerry continues to carry the family name on his shoulders and works tirelessly to ensure the prosperity of the Von Erich clan in the face of all foes and forces.

krYN15K.png

“The Cosmic Cowboy”
Kevin Von Erich

The oldest of the Von Erich brothers,
Kevin Von Erich
is certainly no slouch, known for his high-flying, action-packed moves, and with the boys, as one of the stiffest workers today. Despite his seniority, Kevin is not as high-profile of a star as his brothers David and Kerry, but is respected in his own right as an incredible athlete, pound-for-pound perhaps the best in the promotion. Kevin is also famous for wrestling barefoot, working every match with nothing on but taped ankles to ensure stability. And Kevin certainly needs it, considering his most favorite moves almost all involve leaping to the air and using his entire body as a weapon. Despite not holding all of the singles accolades his brothers David and Kerry have so far, Kevin is considered a premier tag team specialist, which certainly came in handy during his family’s feud with the Fabulous Freebirds. Since then, Kevin has stood up to all of those who stand in his way, no matter how much larger and taller his opponents may be.

However, in February of 1985 on an edition of Championship Sports, Kevin was brutally attacked by the combination of Chris Adams and Hercules Hernandez, who held him down to the ground and used a wooden chair wrapped around the ankle of Kevin Von Erich to attack it, putting Kevin out of action for a whole month. But now, Kevin is making his return to competition, with revenge on the mind, starting with a post-match attack on both Chris and Hercules at the latest Star Wars event! What’s next for Kevin? Surely, his aspirations for vengeance are not satisfied yet.

Billy Jack Haynes

Voted PWI’s 1984 Most Improved Wrestler,
Billy Jack Haynes
joined World Class at the very tail end of 1984, and has since made a name for himself as a potential superstar of the future. He appears to have won the hearts of the Dallas, Texas faithful, but has he won the minds? It remains unclear if Billy Jack is a sure-fire title contender in the near future, having yet to foray with those in the title scenes. Instead, Billy Jack has found himself at odds with another World Class newcomer, Randy Savage. The issue came about when Billy Jack told Bill Mercer in a sit-down interview back in January that he didn’t find the two comparable, when asked how he likens himself to Savage. The latter took issue with that, and finally the two met each other in singles competition at the most recent Star Wars event. While Savage would win their first singles encounter through questionable means, there’s no question that the sky is the limit for Billy Jack if he can continue to keep up with his world class physique (no pun intended) and continue to show improvement in the ring.

RuL1QRW.png

Bobby Fulton

One half of The Fantastics,
Bobby Fulton
has emerged as perhaps a new shining star in the Texas territory. Fulton’s time as one of the most popular tag teams in Texas has served him well, having not only soared in popularity with the fans, but also showing significant improvement in the ring as well. He has come across more and more as the leader of The Fantastics, alongside his tag team partner Tommy Rogers, and may be best known for his hot tag run-ins known for igniting the Dallas Sportatorium crowd. One thing not going for Bobby is his size, considerably shorter than many of his colleagues. But despite his size, Bobby definitely has plenty of fight in him and is never afraid to back down from a fight. The Fantastics began the year as NWA American Tag Team champions, and were able to hold off the likes of The Midnight Express from initially taking the belts. But it was interference on the part of One Man Gang, new client for the Midnights manager, Jim Cornette, as the February Star Wars that cost them their tag titles.

Now, the Fantastics are on the chase to get their titles back, before a growing tag team division provides for another team to take what they feel are rightfully theirs. Whether or not The Fantastics can become kings of the hill again, it will certainly be interesting to see if Bobby Fulton eventually moves on from his tag team position on the card and perhaps on to bigger and better things in singles competition…

f5aMkGk.png

Tommy Rogers

The other half of The Fantastics,
Tommy Rogers
is certainly popular with the fans as well, and can perhaps also be known for some slick in-ring work, similar to his partner. On the flip side, Rogers is known particularly well for his selling, as he is frequently on the losing end of many double teams during their matches. This usually leads to the hot tag that sends Bobby Fulton in, but that’s not to say Rogers doesn’t sometimes have his moments as well. While Fulton tends to get more into the fisticuffs with his opponents, Rogers prefers more coordinated and strategic moves, including working many of his opponents to the ground and on the mat.

j6AFvRM.png

Jerry Blackwell

Another big recent addition to the World Class roster is
Jerry Blackwell
, the 400+ lbs. wrestler who is known for his impressive athletics relative to his physical size. Blackwell is also known as a hard working wrestler, a man who stands by his word and will fight hard to the end. He's also one not to take any funny business from anyone else on the roster, and Chris Adams most recently learned his lesson after putting his hands on Blackwell at the February Star Wars event. Blackwell hasn't forgotten shoving Adams out of the ring, and neither has Adams, with both nearly coming to blow ahead of the March Star Wars event and likely to collide soon enough as tensions continue to rise. Blackwell's stock in World Class continues to rise as well, as he works hard to prove himself in a very competitive territory.

dGwfkg3.png

Mike Von Erich

The most recent of the Von Erich brothers to make his debut,
Mike Von Erich
has yet to achieve the massive popularity of his older brothers, but continues to consistently prove himself in the World Class circuit and reguarly makes appearances alongside his brothers. Mike is noticeably of less impressive shape and size when compared to his siblings, a reality Mike will have to battle his entire career. However, Mike's story could truly be one of a real underdog overcoming all of the shadows and expectations surrounding him. For now, that story seems a long ways away, but in the meantime, Mike continues to wrestle and has taken on a bit of a high-flying style reminiscent of his brother Kevin.

Brian Adias

Best friend of Kerry Von Erich,
Brian Adias
has been around the Von Erich ranch since he was a youngin'. Now, it's only right Brian continues to fight alongside the Von Erich siblings in the wrestling ring, taking years of experience fighting together on the playground and on the sports field. A homegrown talent of Denton County, Adias is almost as popular as the Von Erich's themselves, no small credit to his close association with the family. In the ring, Adias continues to try to prove himself, but must break out of his consistent reliance on headlocks and other submission holds to carry himself through matches. Adias made a surprise return back to World Class earlier this year, and has thrown himself head first into the trials and tribulations of his childhood friends. Adias, a faithful ally of the Von Erichs, can always be trusted and almost considered a proxy Von Erich brother at times.

“Gorgeous”
Gino Hernandez

The “Handsome Halfbreed” from uppity Highland Park, TX,
Gino Hernandez
has been a household name in the Dallas area since the early 80’s. Hernandez was one of the first big rivals for David Von Erich, as the two competed over the NWA Texas Heavyweight title early in their careers. While David represented morale, wholesome values, Gino was the walking antithesis. For Gino, the only things that matter to him are more money, faster cars, hotter women, and perhaps if you know him more personally, a good time… That’s not to say Gino is some slouch in the ring, in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Gino is also as respected as a wrestler as the Von Erich boys, and will stop at almost nothing to make sure even more respect is earned. But Gino is perhaps even more known for his promos out of the ring, where his mouth moves quick and his words silky slick, some comparing him to the great Ric Flair. Returning to the territory in 1984, Gino immediately linked up with Chris Adams to form “The Dynamic Duo”. The two have become perhaps the two most despised men in Texas today, known for collectively hitting the ring to George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone”. They’ve found themselves butting heads with the Von Erich family, and forming an alliance with Jake Roberts as well.

By 1985, Gino was once again the Texas Heavyweight champion, and is now the target of the returning David Von Erich as the two once again spark their feud from years ago. Gino’s plan was to spoil David’s “Texas Homecoming”, where David’s first return to the World Class ring since early 1984 was to be celebrated with family, friends, flowers, and hugs. After successfully turning his return into a chaotic scene at the January Wrestling Star Wars event, Gino held off David all throughout February, using the help of his tag team partner Chris Adams to escape potential defeat at the big February supercard. In March, David (alongside Kerry) challenged Gino and Jake Roberts to a “tag team ultimatum match”, where David vowed to never challenge for the title again if he and his brother were to lose. Unfortunately, the power of the famous Von Erich Iron Claw was too much for Gino to handle anymore, submitting to lose the match and open up another opportunity for David to reclaim “his title”. Now, the two are on a collision course for another showdown. Can Gino continue fighting off David Von Erich, or will he eventually slip up and face defeat a final time?

“The Gentleman”
Chris Adams

The other half of the Dynamic Duo,
Chris Adams
is an English-native imported to Texas where he is considered an international celebrity to the Dallas-faithful. When Adams first got his start in the territory, he became one of the biggest babyface stars in the promotion, only next to the Von Erichs. His first big moment came when he beat Jimmy Garvin in July of 1984 in a “Loser Leaves Town” match. In August, however, he would betray the Von Erichs and the fans by aligning himself with manager Gary Hart, turning heel in pursuit of title gold. This led to a program against Kevin Von Erich, highlighted by brutal wooden chair shots over the head, which led to the fans shouting
”Benedict Adams!”
and
”traitor!”
at every show. Adams got revenge in February of 1985, when he injured Kevin’s ankle thanks to help from Hercules Hernandez. But the latter would eventually sign on with Adams’ manager, Gary Hart, rubbing “The Gentleman” the wrong way. Despite Adams and Hart apparently trying to “work things out”, he would dump Hart as his manager in March of 1985, leading to a showdown against his new client, Hernandez, at the March Star Wars event. After Adams secured the victory, a familiar face entered the scene: Kevin Von Erich! Now, Chris Adams finds himself left aligned with Gino Hernandez and Jake Roberts, and now has enemies on two sides between the Von Erichs, and now Hercules and Hart. Can Adams survive a war on two fronts? Or has he bitten off more than he can chew?

Jake
“The Snake”
Roberts

Jake Roberts
is perhaps the most misunderstood man in Texas wrestling today. If you ask Jake, he will tell you he is a kind man, with a simple soul and would never harm a fly. Ask any one of the fans at the Dallas Sportatorium every week, and they’ll tell you Jake Roberts is a cheat, a liar, and maybe psychotic. In late 1984 Roberts joined forces with Gino Hernandez and Chris Adams, but his world changed at the very beginning of 1985 when Roberts revealed he had discovered a briefcase, enclosed with supposedly $250,000, meant for him when he destroys the Von Erich family. When Roberts revealed his, no one believed it, but week-after-week Roberts obsessively brought this briefcase to the ring, and held onto it as if his life depended on it. Roberts has become relentless in his pursuit to understand where the briefcase came from, who planted it for him, and what he needs to do to get his two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars. The kicker? According to Roberts and company, the briefcase is impossible to open without the key, “the most indestructible briefcase ever seen”, according to Gary Hart. Perhaps that’s why Hart has become so interested in the briefcase, first claiming he was the one who planted it for Roberts. This earned him an attack from the latter, who ran the fake key down Gary’s head, leaving a scar for life! But perhaps Hart has gotten his revenge, when his new client, Hercules Hernandez, made off with Jake’s briefcase at the most recent Star Wars event in March. This has left Jake with no briefcase, and certainly without any peace of mind. Now, Jake is likely determined to get his briefcase back from Gary Hart, and continue his ultimate quest of destroying the Von Erichs for the sweetest pay day he’ll ever see in his life!

"Playboy/The Manager of Champions"
Gary Hart

Gary Hart
has almost become synonymous with World Class Championship Wrestling. As a manager, Hart joined forces with Arman Hussein to form The Stable of H. & H. Ltd, a dastardly villian stable that roamed the territory in the early 80's. Hart is also well known as the manager of The Great Kabuki, the greatest foreign foe in Texas wrestling history, with Hart by Kabuki's side during legendary bouts with the Von Erichs, including against Fritz. Recently, Hart became manager of Chris Adams, as Hart has worked tirelessly to make Adams a future World title contender. Adams, under the Hart, went on to win the NWA American Heavyweight and WCCW Television titles, but a World title shot has still eluded him. Hart got himself involved in the Jake Roberts/mystery briefcase situation, claiming he was the one that planted the briefcase and had the key all along! That key he held, well, it didn't open the briefcase, but did open a wound on the head of Gary Hart thanks to psychotic efforts of Jake Roberts! While Hart's lies about his role with the infamous briefcase caused issued with his client, Chris Adms, their relationship became even more strained following the reveal that Hart was going to manage Hercules Hernandez. This became the final straw for the Adams/Hart relationship, with Adams dumping Gary Hart in front of a live audience on WCCW Championship Sports in March! This led to a showdown between Hercules and Adams at the March Star Wars event, but although Hart and his client Hercules lost that affair, they may have walked out of the show the real winners afterall when Jake Roberts' briefcase fell into their hands...

“Macho Man”
Randy Savage

One of the most impressive newcomers to the Texas wrestling territory,
Randy Savage
is the son of Angelo Poffo, and has always been considered an outcast in the professional wrestling industry. Not only because his father was the head of outlaw promotion, ICW, but Savage’s personality maybe even too big for the big screen. Savage’s in-ring style may even be considered outlaw, in some regard, having shown incredible work rate early in his career and putting many of his opponents to shame in terms of shere technical ability and in-ring prowess. Having got his start in the NWA in Memphis, Savage has now tested his talents in Texas and has done quite well so far. While many of his victories may be through doubtful means, it’s hard to question when Savage’s arm is raised due to his typical showings in the ring that make every match feel winnable. Since joining at the start of the year, Savage has made a solid impact in the ring so far, and has even begun referring to himself as “The Macho Man”, a moniker he’s seemed to have come up with himself. One thing has been made clear so far, Randy is determined to prove himself to be not only the best wrestler in Texas, but the entire world!

Hercules Hernandez

In just a few short appearances,
Hercules Hernandez
has become one of the most hated men in the World Class territory, no small part to his new manager, Gary Hart. Hernandez is a powering figure, with a great physique and good movement in the ring. While this offensive arsenal is a bit limited, his charisma is not. Hernandez paid his dues in Mid-South Wrestling, before joining World Class in early 1985. While his debut was subtle at best, Hernandez emerged as a new face to reckon with when he joined forces with Gary Hart. Unfortunately for Hart, this would lead to grievances with his other client at the time, Chris Adams, but not before Adams and Hercules injured the ankle of Kevin Von Erich on a late February edition of WCCW Championship Sports. Heading into March, however, as Adams and Hart broke apart, Hercules stood by his new manager's side and has now taken up issue with Adams. The return of Kevin Von Erich at the March Star Wars event could spell trouble for Hercules, but perhaps he can find solace in having recovered the infamous briefcase from Jake Roberts and may now soon be a quarter of a million dollars richer...

The Midnight Express

The tag team of “Beautiful”
Bobby Eaton
and “Loverboy”
Dennis Condrey
has become one of the most hated duos in Texas wrestling history, no small part played by their manager,
Jim Cornette
. The young and brash Cornette will be the first to tell you how great the Midnights are, and how they are the greatest team in wrestling history. Whether that’s the case or not, is yet to be determined, however the Midnight Express helped their case when they effectively stole the NWA American Tag Team titles from the former champions, the Fantastics. Entering March of 1985, The Midnight Express are now not only a very talented and experienced tag team, but also the tag champs. But how will they fair now that the collective tag team targets are now on their backs, and they find themselves walking as the prey and no longer stalking as the predator? Good news for them, a new insurance policy is in place. Manager Jim Cornette has now aligned himself with the One Man Gang, and the Midnight Express are reaping the benefits early.

One Man Gang

To call
One Man Gang
intimidating would be an understatement. But perhaps it's also his position on the WCCW roster that is real understatement, as the One Man Gang has recently become WCCW Television champion after aligning with new manager
Jim Cornette
, and also played a critical role in ensuring Cornette's tag team became the new tag champs at the February Star Wars event. No matter what it is, one this is for certain, OMG is a force to be reckoned with and should never be taken lightly.
