NWA World Tag Team Championship

The New Franchise (Shane Douglas & Michael Shane) (w/Monty Brown) © vs. Bloodweiser (The Sandman & Shark Boy)

TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

After Tenay and West welcome us to the first iMPACT in Texas, Douglas & Shane naturally take control of this match. The Sandman is reduced to brief flurries and Shark Boy to fleeting moments, nearly catching a cocksure Shane by surprise with a Small Package. But the champions controlled the match and dictated the pace until The Sandman’s patience had been tested long enough. He reached for his singapore cane with referee Andrew Thomas intervening to stop him from using it.

With the official’s attention diverted, the illegal man Michael Shane rolled into the ring and delivered Sweet Shane Music to Shark Boy with the referee turning around just in time to count the three as Douglas covered.

Another successful defence for The New Franchise as The Sandman shouts for a beer and attends to his wounded tag team partner, a scene surveyed on the television inside
Roddy Piper’s
office.

3CBfPsK.jpgG5a6HdN.jpg

The Commissioner ponders aloud who the NWA could sanction next for Douglas & Shane as
Miss Neilsen
enters the office and brings with her TNA’s newest signing for the Knockout’s Division...
Daffney!

4Hn5wsN.jpg

The ‘Scream Queen’ has been plucked out of the wilderness up north with Miss Neilsen taking personal responsibility for having facilitated her signing. Piper is happy to be bringing her into TNA Wrestling,
”but please, don’t ever scream at me…”

When she mentions that she’s chomping at the bit to be put in the ring after so long on the sidelines, she’s promised strong competition. As for when and where she can claim her first victim, Piper tells her that she’ll make her debut on the very first two hour iMPACT in two weeks time.

Standard Singles Match

C.W. Anderson vs. Samoa Joe

TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

Another different challenge for Joe, meeting a competitor here that is content to exchange fisticuffs and brawl with the ‘Samoan Submission Machine’. Anderson throws left hands like they’re going out of style and catches Joe early with a Single Arm DDT. He’s a game competitor and zeroes in on Joe’s left arm with the Rings of Saturn (or rather, the Anderson Tradition as Tenay calls it).

But when C.W. charges into the corner, Joe uses his right arm for the STJoe, elevating Anderson and slamming him to the canvas. This is the turning point and although the left arm troubles Joe as he locks on the Coquina Clutch, he manages to hold the grip just long enough to score the submission.

Over the weekend, TNA Wrestling began renovation of its own 1,000-seater amphitheatre in Nashville named The Asylum. Between footage of the old warehouse being repurposed as a studio environment,
Jeremy Borash
catches a word with
Jerry Lynn
.

YxtdUH6.jpgsY14Ks7.jpg

He was on hand to help set up the ring, it’s good to go back to your roots and remember where it all started. He’s a humble man and that’s the crucial difference between himself and Christopher Daniels. Jerry Lynn has never believed his own hype whereas the ‘Fallen Angel’ thinks he’s ascended to some greater plane beyond men. He calls himself a God but as far as Lynn is concerned he bleeds red like everybody else. Pride comes before the fall and unfortunately for Christopher Daniels, all things that go up must come down.

Standard Trios Match

Jerrelle Clark, Danny Doring & Roadkill vs. Jeff Jarrett, Mike Awesome & Chris Kanyon (w/ Don Callis)

TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

This was, predictably, an extended showcase for Jarrett’s new trio. Doring & Roadkill did land some licks, particularly the big Amish Warrior with the Barn Burner that had Kanyon down for a near fall. But Mike Awesome steadfastly dealt with the big man, flooring him with a big Lariat to put him out of commission.

For ‘Mr. 630’, this was his opportunity to upset the apple cart. A Drop Toe Hold put Double J in the ropes for the Tiger Feint Crucifix Armbar and his Springboard Hurricanrana sent Kanyon on a wobble. But it was once again the force of Awesome that slammed on the brakes, catching Clark on a Hurricanrana attempt before sending him in a heap to the canvas with a Powerbomb. Double J and Kanyon did the honours, finishing Jerrelle off with a Flatliner-Stroke combination.

ElclwUV.jpgmLfV2Ku.jpg9E45kvH.jpgLgNP7OO.jpg

Jerrelle’s heroics aside, it was a relatively dominant display from Jarrett, Kanyon & Awesome and they are joined in the ring by the Consultant Don Callis. Microphone in hand, he orders referee Slick Johnson to leave and take Clark, Doring & Roadkill with him. The ring is no area for losers and no-hopers like those gentlemen!

Even though Team Jarrett is no more, there are still some scores that Jarrett needs to settle before he can focus on regaining his TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Callis calls out Jeff Hardy, a constant thorn in their side who keeps buzzing away even though he’s already lost to Double J. He’s sure that the ‘Enigma’ takes some satisfaction in seeing the end of Team Jarrett but all he did was accelerate this new alliance. It’s ironic, believes Callis...
”We’re stronger than ever now!”

Kanyon is given the microphone and explains that he came into TNA thanks to Jarrett & Callis. Piper thought he was getting a real coup when he signed on the dotted line but he didn’t know about Kanyon’s ulterior motives. He learned in the big leagues that there are very few people you trust but Jarrett never steered him wrong because he’s a true friend. That’s why he’s going to take care of Double J’s business next week.

“Jeff Hardy is going to get flatlined by Kanyon from the big leagues, who betta?!”

Four Way Shootout

#1 Contendership for TNA World Heavyweight Championship

Ron Killings vs. AJ Styles vs. CM Punk vs. Christopher Daniels

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

With an opportunity to main event the 2nd Anniversary Show on the line, all four competitors amped up the intensity from the opening bell and the first half of this match resembled some sort of organised chaos. Renewing their rivalry, Killings teed off with Punk and perhaps would have punched his ticket to a showdown with Sting if not for a late intervention from the ‘Fallen Angel’. Similarly, Daniels thought he sowed this one with the Last Rites but AJ Styles was not letting this opportunity slip through his fingers quite so easily. It was going to be very difficult for any man to score the definitive fall but one man in particular had help to call upon.

TxLgoZN.jpgQqgR1MK.jpg0GIt0Yu.jpg

And
The Gathering
emerged from the tunnel to help CM Punk.

Just as they had attacked Killings ringside at Caribbean Combat, they again targeted ‘The Truth’ as he tried to recover on the outside. Father Mitchell pointed and both
Brother Julio
and
Abyss
stalked their prey...

Wy40bV5.jpg

Unfortunately for The Gathering,
BG James
came charging out the tunnel, wielding a steel chair as he bolted down the ramp.

THUD! Right across the back of Julio and he dropped to his knees. CRASH! Right against the skull of Abyss but he got his hands up to partially block the impact. Nevermind, BG drove the end of the chair into his midsection to double him over and then crashed it once more across the back of ‘The Monster’. The cavalry had arrived and Punk could only watch his brethren retreat, BG stalking them to ensure they departed.

7vDTmWQ.jpg

”I guess CM Punk has to fight this battle on his own!”

As we headed to the conclusion, it was not in fact Killings and Punk that were even in contention to pick up the W. They had both been squared away by the Angel’s Wings and the Spiral Tap from Daniels and Styles respectively and it was now the X-Division Champion that looked primed for victory after he executed his signature STO and transitioned into a Koji Clutch. Of course, Styles was never going to submit this opportunity and he made his way to the ropes but it still felt like the hitherto untouchable Christopher Daniels had his number.

Putting AJ on the top turnbuckle, Daniels hooked his arms and brought Styles down with the Fall From Grace but AJ held on to his opponent’s neck, bringing him forward into a Victory Roll pin. It was all a setup to catch the ‘Fallen Angel’ with a Pele Kick as he got back to his feet and as Daniels doubled over, he was left in prime position for the Styles Clash.

In a match of twists and turns, this was the final one. Styles planted the TNA X-Division Champion on his stomach and rolled him over into the pin. Although our cameras caught Killings making a last ditch plea to re-enter the ring to break up the count, it was too late and he could only watch as Rudy Charles counted the 1-2-3.

ROjQVjr.jpg

A real shootout in Texas has culminated and it’s the ‘Phenomenal One’ that stands tall, his hand being raised by senior official Rudy Charles. The camera pans to CM Punk, disappointed but still clutching his ribs, and Ron Killings, frustrated as his body gave out on him at the end there.

7vDTmWQ.jpg

”Isn’t it fitting Don, that AJ Styles, a TNA original, will headline our 2nd Anniversary Show?”

As the celebration continues, the sound of a guitar solo brings out the TNA World Heavyweight Champion...

yZsAsCo.jpg

Sporting his signature trench coat and holding the title belt in his left hand, ‘The Icon’
Sting
enters and immediately sizes up the new #1 Contender in the middle of the ring. Neither competitor is willing to break eye contact until the Stinger raises the Championship belt, AJ looking up to get a good view of the richest prize in TNA Wrestling. They’ll face off next month but attention turns to Christopher Daniels walking off up the ramp as Don West reminds us of next week’s main event....

jDWA57W.jpg

“Christopher Daniels will have to bounce back from this defeat when he defends his X-Division title against Jerry Lynn next week, we’ll see you then!”

They’re determined to find out who the better wrestler is but their tag team partners are having none of it. Lacey drills Meiko with the Implant DDT but the pinfall is broken up with Danger, using her knee to good effect on a Reverse Backbreaker. Unfortunately for Allison, Inoue is back in the action, sidestepping a High Knee before her Spinning Backfist takes her to the pay window.

Stunned, the Japanese luchador could little resist the Ki Krusher and referee Andrew Thomas did the honours for ‘The Warrior’.

TNA iMPACT! #15 Preview

CARD SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Wednesday, Week 3, May 2004

auI264U.jpg

”WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE WOULDN’T DO THE JOB?”

Billy Firehawk was just hearing that Jeff Jarrett was refusing to drop the belt at NWA Wildside to Erik Watts and he had another reason to be pissed at TNA. The NWA had sanctioned the change because they were frankly tired of paying Jarrett’s exorbitant booking fee for no improved gate.

How did the saying go?

Wk6yWn8.jpg

”He broke a million guitars, never drew a dime!”

But Dutch didn’t want Double J losing to somebody that TNA had just released and Jarrett agreed. As far as they were concerned, there was only one solution to this impasse.

HP0E8ej.jpg

”Dixie, it’s time to leave the National Wrestling Alliance.”

Chris Harris & James Storm vs. Ron & Don Harris

Comments: Death Sentence for their TNA contracts hopefully.

Daffney <3

Not the best week for me, but the show looked awesome. Your roster starts to remind me of my own in a 2000 WCW save :p

But that's not a bad thing, it's a good thing *beaming DDP face*

I was gutted when WWE hired her but she hasn't wrestled a single match since. So I figured her walking out for TNA wasn't totally unrealistic. :)

As for the roster, yeah haha. It was paper thin at the top of the card. I desperately needed more star power and more within the Recognisable perception. It's a really interesting time period and a fun save to play in that regard, it's very open and there's a lot you can do.

Dustin Rhodes celebrates his victory with the Texas crowd but his parade is soon interrupted by

a few pointers. They both came through NWA Wildside together but
AJ Styles
has eclipsed his former rival somewhat since those days. Still, he remembers where he came from and he tells Jason that he’d love to wrestle him again soon and see first hand how strong his game has come along.

But the niceties are broken when
Elix Skipper
and
Kid Kash
enter the room. Talking of wrestling matches, Skipper is owed one. At Caribbean Combat, it was Apolo that pinned Glamour Boy Shane. We still don’t know who the better man is between Elix Skipper and AJ Styles and as far as ‘Primetime’ is concerned, that’s unfinished business. He wants the ‘Phenomenal One’ next week and AJ agrees, neither of them were involved in the fall and it’s been bugging him too.

He’s the next TNA World Heavyweight Champion and he intends to start as he means to go on, as a fighting champion that flies the flag for TNA Wrestling with honour and pride. If Skipper wants to find out first hand how phenomenal AJ Styles is, he’s more than happy to show him next week in the main event of the first ever two hour iMPACT.

Standard Singles Match

Jeff Hardy vs. Kanyon (w/ Jeff Jarrett & Mike Awesome)

TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

The remarks of Jarrett’s newest trinity must have lit a fire under Jeff Hardy because he came out swinging tonight. He was in inspirational form, hitting the Reverse Enzuigiri early and the Whisper in the Wind. But Kanyon was wise to the Twist of Fate, shoving the ‘Enigma’ away before ducking to the outside to consult with Double J and take a timeout. Jarrett is holding his NWA Championship despite no longer being the champion after TNA left the alliance, bloody tape delays...

Hardy stalked his prey but the imposing figure of Mike Awesome stopped him from making any inroads on his opponent and he retreated back to the safety of the ring. Once back inside, a newly motivated Kanyon began to grind away, determined to make Hardy suffer for the headaches he’s given Jarrett since his debut on the first iMPACT. This was shaping up to be a real classic, Hardy countering the Kanyon Cutter with a schoolboy for a close near fall and Kanyon proving why he’s the innovator of offence, turning his disorientation after a Jawbreaker into a smooth Discus Clothesline. But the more it appeared that Jeff Hardy was getting the better of his opponent, the more frustrated a figure Jeff Jarrett seemed to cut and eventually he had seen enough.

”Jarrett and Awesome have jumped Hardy in the ring and the referee has to throw this one out...”

Despite frantic ringing of the bell from the timekeeper and referee Slick Johnson’s best efforts to extricate
Jeff Jarrett, Kanyon & Mike Awesome
from continuing their assault on
Jeff Hardy
, it’s all to no avail. Awesome stares down the official, intimidating him with his massive stature and Johnson eventually cottons on that it’s best for him if he doesn’t get involved.

Flatliner, Awesome Bomb and then, of course, The Stroke. The ‘Enigma’ is left in a heap as the group bask in the disapproval of the Austin Sports Center. They’re not here to put smiles on faces, power players just want to win titles and dominate the landscape. Mike Tenay ponders if even a glutton for punishment like Jeff Hardy will want to continue to raise the ire of Jarrett’s fearsome triumvirate after his treatment tonight.

Standard Singles Match

Eddie Edwards vs. Monty Brown (w/ Michael Shane)

TIME LIMIT: 10 MINUTES

Monty Brown has not been pleased with his lack of opportunity between the ropes since joining TNA and has pressured Shane Douglas to be a man of his word and help him ascend beyond just being a fixer for The New Franchise. His opponent this evening was a rookie fresh out of wrestling school and the ‘Alpha Male’ made short work of him, mauling him with plumbing blows and an authoritative Powerslam before the Pounce brought this one to a merciful conclusion.

In the interview room, Scott Hudson is standing by with the TNA World Heavyweight Champion himself,
Sting!

He found out last week who the next #1 Contender is, ‘The Phenomenal One’ AJ Styles. He is undefeated so far this year and for that reason, Sting is excited to face off with him. He thinks AJ is a hell of a competitor, a brilliant wrestler, one of the pioneers of the X-Division and an exciting challenge for the fighting champion. One day, he could very well be TNA World Heavyweight Champion… But ‘The Icon’ is the yardstick around here and he can’t wait for showtime.
”To borrow a phrase from a friend of mine: if you wanna be the man you gotta beat the man!”

However, it turns out this interview is a bit of a ruse because Scott Hudson welcomes his other guest at this time,
Scott D’Amore.

7iidIwC.jpg

He asked for this time because he has a bone to pick. The only reason Sting is facing AJ on that 2nd Anniversary Show is because his Ace isn’t here yet… scratch that, the only reason Sting is facing AJ is because none of his students were even given an opportunity in that #1 Contendership match! D’Amore takes umbrage with that and he’s already spoken to Commissioner Piper to make it even. In two week’s time, Sting will find out how strong Team Canada is when Legend hits him with the Hospital Job and makes sure that the Stinger doesn’t even make it to the AutoZone Park!

TNA X-Division Championship

Christopher Daniels © vs. Jerry Lynn

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

Having been pinned last week for the first time all year, Daniels is noticeably more desperate and less composed at the start here, something that Lynn takes full advantage of in out-wrestling him. A departure from the typical X-Division match, this one is more scientific, something that is straight in the challenger’s wheelhouse and he transitions into all manner of holds and submissions to dismantle the ‘Fallen Angel’.

Lynn had claimed that Daniels had become too arrogant for his own good but the early onslaught perhaps served only to humble the Champion because he gradually seized back the initiative, blocking a Tornado DDT to send Lynn careening to the canvas before catching him with the Arabian Press Moonsault. As Daniels seemed frantic early on, Lynn now began to panic and quickly went for a Cradle Piledriver to try and wrap this one up. Unfortunately, Daniels had it scouted, dropping to one knee to deliver a Jawbreaker before hitting his signature Running STO. Though the Angel’s Wings didn’t get it done, the B.M.E. followed the Urinage to ensure Daniels departed Texas still the X-Division Champion.

Although this is supposed to be Daniels’ moment, it’s not his theme that rings out throughout the Austin Sports Center but the sound of bagpipes and drums instead, to announce the arrival of
Commissioner Piper!

3CBfPsK.jpg

He admits that Daniels has forged quite a successful reign as TNA X-Division Champion and he’s impressed at how he managed to rebound from defeat last week to victory this week against such a formidable opponent in Jerry Lynn. Being the Champion means being prepared for all possibilities, you never know when you’ll have to defend your title and you never know who your next challenger may be.

”Or should I say, challengers…”

Hopefully Daniels remembers how he won the title because that’s exactly how he must defend it, inside Ultimate-X 3 at the 2nd Anniversary Show!

<p>Great to see a second hour added to Impact. I really do feel this is the ideal length for an "A" level TV-show. One hour often seems to short, while three hours often feel too long and drag in the middle.</p><p> </p><p>

Ron Killings & BG James</strong> vs. Sonny Siaki & Ekmo</p><p>

Comments: I'd call a win for Siaki and Ekmo an upset here, and I am going with The Kru, but I wouldn't be shocked if Siaki and Ekmo get a cheap win here after some CM Punk involvement.</p><p> </p><p>

There have been lots of things I have put down for the one hour shows that I have either had to pull from the show altogether or move to another week. Plenty of stories have not been progressed at the pace I'd like to move them at either for the same reason so moving to two hours should speed everything up and give me adequate time to get everything in. Ron Killings & BG James vs. Sonny Siaki & Ekmo

Comments: The Kru could take this but I'm gonna go off the board a bit. I think this would be a nice win to truly establish these two.

Ultimate-X 3 Qualifying Match

Jason Cross vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Kid Kash

Comments: Dutt would be cool too, but Kash should get the win here I think. He can be a legit threat.

Chris Vaughn vs. Legend

Comments: He's getting pushed to the moon until TNA signs Randy Orton.

Daizee Haze vs. Daffney

Comments:

Low-Ki vs. Samoa Joe

Comments: We'll see whether Low-Ki will turn into a big star, but it's Joe's time for now.

Joel & Jose Maximo vs. Mike Awesome & Kanyon

Comments: Death.

AJ Styles vs. Elix Skipper

Comments: Skipper's time as an upper-tier X-Division guy seems to be dwindling, but he's a solid hand to have guys like Styles go over.

Over the weekend, the legendary
Nick Bockwinkel
sadly passed away at the age of 69. Perhaps best known as a multiple time AWA World Heavyweight Champion, Bockwinkel is renowned as one of the businesses all-time greats. With a fantastic mind for wrestling psychology and an articulate manner that stood him apart from his contemporaries, he had iconic matches with other wrestling greats like Larry Zbyszko, Stan Hansen and Curt Hennig.

TNA Wrestling would like to send its thoughts and regards to the Bockwinkel family and tonight's episode of iMPACT! will be dedicated to his memory.

We kick off with the sound of bagpipes and drums rattling around the airwaves of a sold out Oman Arena as the Commissioner
Roddy Piper
cuts a determined figure on his stroll to the ring. We may have heard the news, TNA Wrestling has left the National Wrestling Alliance and Piper wishes them the best of luck with their future endeavours.

He once said that any wrestling promotion worth their salt needs their own World Championship and he believes the same stands for the World Tag Team Championship. Tonight, a tournament to crown the very first TNA World Tag Team Champions begins and it will culminate at the 2nd Anniversary Show.

The first match in that tournament, Ron Killings & BG James going up against Sonny Siaki & Ekmo, is up next!”

TNA World Tag Team Championship Tournament

The Kru (Ron Killings & BG James) [#4] vs. Ekmo & Sonny Siaki [#5]

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

Tenay remarks that the teams within the tournament have been seeded and both of these teams drew the short straw as the 4th and 5th seeds respectively. It’s an unfavourable draw but it makes for an even match and a perfect way to get proceedings underway. Ekmo throws his weight around but ever the sly competitor, BG gets out of the way on a corner splash and let’s the big man eat turnbuckles before being clattered with the Flying Jalapeno by ‘The Truth’.

Killings is left to duke it out with Siaki and counters out of the Siakalypse Now, hooking the Samoan with a facelock as he escapes the Pumphandle predicament before transitioning straight into the Truth Conviction. Ekmo tries to make the save but James impedes his progress by grabbing his foot and The Kru manage to squeeze their way into the semi-finals.

TNA Wrestling is a lot like a Lion’s pride. There exists a hierarchy and one lion becomes the leader, the top dog, the king of the mountain. He’s the one that everybody looks towards to lead the pack, to look out across the horizon and keep the weaker lions safe from danger. He’s the one that puts food in mouths and keeps the rest strong enough to survive the treacherous dangers of the wilderness.

But the problem with being the head of the pack is that sooner or later, another lion comes along with a big ego and a strong spirit and they want to be the king. Sometimes, they find it easy. Sometimes, they find that the king is easy to send cowering because they’ve gotten soft in their old age. Months and sometimes years of not having to fight for what is theirs has left them in ill condition to defend their position and they lose everything they once held dear.

zEmTruG.jpg

’The Icon’ Sting
is determined to avoid that fate. He knew that the moment he was crowned as the TNA World Heavyweight Champion that he would have a target painted on his back wherever he went and everybody would be looking to strike him down. If Scott D’Amore wants to put somebody up to fight him, great! If Legend wants to be numero uno, great!

Next week, Sting will defend the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and when it’s all said and done, Legend can join the rest on the outside looking in, another pretender, another would-be usurper, another wrestler that couldn’t handle SHOWTIME!

Ultimate-X 3 Qualifying Match

Jason Cross vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Kid Kash

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

This is the first of three qualifiers we will see over the next few weeks and all three competitors here are hungry to punch their ticket to the 2nd Anniversary Show. The action is fast-paced and exciting but the crowd are turned off somewhat by the lack of star power involved and there’s little reaction from the audience when Kid Kash spikes Jason Cross with the Money Maker for the victory.

Standard Singles Match

Chris Vaughn (w/ Simon Diamond) vs. Legend

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

INwa3CG.jpg

”You’re seeing the #1 Contender in there, show a little respect!”

Having joined us on commentary,
Scott D’Amore
responds to Mike Tenay’s remark that Legend should hook the leg if he wants to pick up the victory. The coach is insufferable here, undermining AJ Styles as he basks in his client’s newfound status as the next challenger for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. For his part, Legend does a professional job, shrugging off any potential distraction that Simon Diamond might offer at ringside as he mentors his student. Vaughn does hit his beautiful standing dropkick for a near fall but Legend recovers with a Rolling Elbow and cuts the rookie’s ambitions short with the Hospital Job.

In The Lair,
James Mitchell
addresses the TNA World Tag Team Championship Tournament. A single light bulb illuminating his devious visage, the Father of The Gathering has put forward ‘The Monster’ Abyss and Brother Julio to compete for the glory. They face America’s Most Wanted next week and whilst Mitchell admits that they are strong tough competitors, their opponents next week won’t be bums spending their welfare payments on a glass of the good stuff. The Gathering is yet to capture championship gold but that single motivation will drive Abyss and Brother Julio all the way to the final and at the 2nd Anniversary Show, they will add the first of many championship titles to their trophy cabinet.

Standard Singles Match

Daizee Haze vs. Daffney

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

Iv8PqST.jpgFPBtrX3.jpg

Before the next match commences,
Miss Nielsen
introduces us to TNA Wrestling’s newest referee. Specifically for the Knockouts Division, Foxxy Dreams will make sure every match is called right down the middle.

As for the match itself, this is an extended showcase for the ‘Scream Queen’ on debut and a Headscissors Takedown is as good as it gets for young Daizee Haze. Daffney cuts out her base early on, charging to capture the left leg before transitioning into a Single Leg Crab, a move made famous by Lance Storm. Haze attempts the Snapmare Driver that led her to victory last Friday but it only leaves her in prime position for a Neckbreaker. Shortly after, Daffney sends this match home with her signature Swinging Neckbreaker she calls the Lobotomy.

G5a6HdN.jpg3CBfPsK.jpg

In the Commissioner’s office,
Miss Neilsen
was watching the action carefully as
Roddy Piper
spoke to somebody on the phone. He’s explaining that it’s what Sting wants, he wants to put the title on the line next week and he’s the Champion.
If it’s what he wants, it’s what we have to do!”
, explains the Commissioner before telling whomever he’s talking to that it doesn’t matter what Jeff Jarrett thinks of anything, he’s the man in charge and he’ll deal with that situation. If he says something on commentary he shouldn’t then the Commissioner will sort it.

But attention turns to the door being opened by the always brazen
Lacey.

kn9eSIF.jpg

Although Piper and Neilsen are offended by the rude interruption, the diva demands a match for next week. She wants to be on iMPACT, she deserves to be on iMPACT, who else are they going to find that makes for beautiful television like her? She makes a convincing case and she gets her wish but unfortunately, she’s going to have to wait to find out who is across the ring from her because she will be facing a mystery opponent...

We return back to the arena floor where the ring announcer
Jeremy Borash
introduces his guests at this time,
The New Franchise.

K3IQn6M.jpgoxG86jm.jpgq7q19UM.jpg

Down the entrance ramp come
Shane Douglas, Monty Brown
and last but certainly not least,
Michael Shane.
He’s got his right arm locked with a lovely young lady and he shows her off to the camera. Inside the ring, JB asks Douglas his thoughts on the vacation of the NWA World Tag Team Championship and the TNA World Tag Team Championship Tournament. ‘The Franchise’ is naturally disappointed, they should be crowned the first champions because technically, they never lost! But nevermind, he and Michael are highly seeded.
“And not just in the tournament, ladies…”
, he follows up sleazily. To make good on the stripping of their titles, they have been seeded #1 and next week they face the #8 seed, Danny Doring & Roadkill. JB brings in Michael Shane next week and he starts by introducing us to his girlfriend
Madison.

cTud7lD.jpg

They met recently in a nightclub, he bought her a drink like the good gentleman he is and it was love at first sight. She’s exactly the kind of girlfriend that a maverick like him needs, a wild chick that’s all sugar and sweet on the surface but a demon in the you know what… it’s okay to be jealous, she’s just another reason for all of the losers here in Tennessee to be envious of The New Franchise!

Borash tries to direct the conversation back towards the tournament but he has little luck doing so before Shane Douglas signs off, reiterating that they are the rightful World Tag Team Champions and nobody is going to stop them from becoming the first ever champions in this particular lineage.

Standard Singles Match

Low-Ki vs. Samoa Joe

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

As expected, this is a physical match between two great wrestling fighters. Despite the size and weight advantage that Joe possesses, Low-Ki shows his fighting spirit to hang with the ‘Samoan Submission Machine’ thanks to his wide array of kicks and different submissions. But really, Joe’s strategy is the exact same and these two simply paste one another. Low-Ki attempts a Roundhouse only to have his leg caught before he’s powerbombed into oblivion by his opponent. He bounces back with shades of Jushin Liger, the Rolling Koppu Kick and the Warrior’s Way scores a close near fall. But after the STJoe and the Corner Enzuigiri, Low-Ki begins to look like he’s totted up too many blows on his slighter frame and Joe sends this one home courtesy of the Muscle Buster.

Samoa Joe
is victorious but weary after what was a proper battle with Low-Ki. He remains undefeated so far in TNA Wrestling but as referee Slick Johnson raises his hand, his music is interrupted.

”Down… with the Brown!

Because
D’Lo Brown
emerges from the entrance tunnel with a microphone in his hand. He’s had a couple of setbacks recently but he’s been watching Joe from afar and he’s been impressed. Just like the ‘Samoan Submission Machine’ he needs an opponent for the upcoming 2nd Anniversary Show. And D’Lo can think of nobody better to do battle with the man before him, will he accept the challenge? Of course he will but Joe warns him that at the AutoZone Park, D’Lo is going to regret the day he asked to be tapped out, choked out and dragged out of the ring because
”Joe is gonna kill you.”

TNA World Tag Team Championship Tournament

The S.A.T. (Joel & Jose Maximo) [#6] vs. Kanyon & Mike Awesome [#3]

TIME LIMIT: 15 MINUTES

The Maximo brothers are giving up a startling amount of weight in this match but their performance is a resilient one and speaks volumes to how much they want to be the first TNA World Tag Team Champions. On commentary, Jarrett is full of praise for Kanyon & Mike Awesome with Mike Tenay probing him for explanations on the new alliance.

CKoNNP7.jpg

”They’re major league, big league players Mike. You need all the friends you can get around here and I’ve picked a couple of doozys.”

Asked about his opinion on Commissioner Piper, Jarrett reiterates that TNA Wrestling doesn’t need him and sooner or later, that position will be made redundant, he promises that much. As Mike Awesome presses Jose above his head to slow down the momentum of the Maximo Brothers, somebody jumps the security rail and assaults Jeff Jarrett at the announce table!

TI8mDOF.jpg

It’s
Jeff Hardy!

He wails away as Jarrett tries to bail but the ‘Enigma’ pursues him up the entrance ramp and through the tunnel. It’s a momentary distraction in the ring as well and a Sunset Flip roll-up on Awesome has his shoulders pinned to the canvas but only for a long two count.

As Tenay and West reel from the drama that had unfolded around them, Kanyon gets his team back in the game by elbowing his way out of a Avalanche Spanish Fly, leaving Joel to crash onto the ropes and down to the outside. Jose does his best but Mike Awesome’s power is just too much and after the Awesome Bomb, it’s the big league duo that join The Kru in the semi-finals.

We don’t know what has happened between Jeff Hardy and Jeff Jarrett but after Elix Skipper has entered the ring for our main event, we go backstage near the go position where
Scott Hudson
is standing by with
AJ Styles.

‘The Phenomenal One’ saw Sting’s interview earlier in the night and he respects that the Stinger has raised the stakes for his match against Legend next week by agreeing to defend his TNA World Heavyweight Championship. So, it’s only right that he does the same. If Elix Skipper can beat him fair and square in the middle of the ring tonight, it will be ‘Primetime’ that gets the title shot at the 2nd Anniversary Show!

#1 Contendership Match for TNA World Heavyweight Championship

AJ Styles vs. Elix Skipper

TIME LIMIT: 20 MINUTES

With the main event spot at the 2nd Anniversary Show now on the line, this match takes on an even greater intensity. Mike Tenay points out the irony of Skipper now vying for the #1 Contendership after Christopher Daniels failed to secure the opportunity, can he do one better than his former Triple X partner? These two have a similar style, they’re both technical high-flyers whose primary occupation is outgunning their adversary. As such, these two throw everything they have at one another with Skipper nearly upsetting the apple cart with the Play of the Day only to find he’s going to need more than the Overdrive to put AJ away.

Skipper hits New School so AJ responds with his kip-up Hurricanrana. AJ hits the Torture Rack Bomb so Skipper responds with the Instant Replay, his signature one-armed Spinebuster. AJ tries to deck ‘Primetime’ with his strong Clothesline but Skipper does The Matrix and catches Styles coming back with the Crescent Kick. Now it’s time for the Kryptonite Krunch but Styles rolls out the back with a Sunset Flip Roll-up and keeps rolling, transitioning straight into the Styles Clash and planting Skipper on his stomach! Despite a strong effort, this brings Elix’s challenge to an end and Styles stands tall, still the top contender and still on a collision course with the Stinger.
