Well, I certainly never fooled anyone with the KOTR tournament results, did I? Not like I was trying to or anything. Steamboat vs. Hart was just the overwhelming best possible final.

Great event! Interested to see Pillman and HBK being heels together... Holywood Blonds with a twist? :)

Thanks, Blodyxe! A Michaels/Pillman team would've definitely been awesome!

WWF King of the Ring 1991 prediction results:

Blodyxe - 10 of 11

KyTeran - 9 of 11

scottk1983 - 8 of 11

smw88 - 7 of 11

scmurph01 - 6 of 11

Blodyxe wins the show with 10 of 11 correct predictions, only missing the Piper/Warrior vs. Sullivan/Taker tag match! He even correctly predicted the "draw" between Roberts and Vader. The only predictor to do so. Great showing from everyone else as well, with everyone getting over half of their predictions right. The big winner overall though, was scottk1983, who with 8 correct predictions vs. smw88's 7, breaks their tie to win the first round of the contest! Congratulations, Scott! I'll be messaging you within the next few days about your prize.

Final Prediction Contest standings for Round 1:

1.) scottk1983 - 33 points

2.) smw88- 32 points

3.) KyTeran - 23 points

4.) scmurph01- 19 points

5.) Blodyxe - 15 points

6.) QFresh - 12 points

7.) Trevor Belmont - 11 points

8.) JaCeLo3 - 4 points

9.) TheBigBad1013 - 4 points

The next round of the prediction contest will start with July's Saturday Night's Main Event PPV and run through Survivor Series in November. Thanks so much to everyone for reading, predicting, and commenting!

He was standing next to a large framed photograph of Damien, set up on an easel next to a small podium. He announced that although his war with Vader was far from over after nothing was resolved at King of the Ring, he had to take a moment to honor the life of his beloved pet Damien. He was practically holding back tears, his voice cracking more with each word, as he told the fans of the many great memories he'd shared with his friend when the cameras were off. He then regaled them with humorous stories of Damien scaring the life out of the other wrestlers backstage. He ended the speech by acknowledging that a lot of people hate snakes. And although he wasn't always a fan of them himself, Damien changed his mind. Damien had slithered into a small corner of his heart and made himself a home. And there was no way he would be able to go on as "The Snake" without him at ringside. So, he was dropping his "The Snake" moniker and would just be going by his "regular" name, Jake Roberts, going forward. When he was finished speaking, he slowly walked over and placed a hand on the framed photo, bowing his head in silence. That silence was abruptly ended though when Vader attacked yet again!</span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="uiRsVG0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/uiRsVG0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> Vader hit Roberts with a Chokeslam first, which he followed up with a Vader Bomb in the corner. Some referees ran down to try and stop Vader, but he threw several of them out of the ring and scared the others off. Not satisfied with just one Vader Bomb though, he'd hit another. WWF TV for Week 2, July 1991

Backstage before the show:

- Jake Roberts turned up hungover, so I fined him. He now has a "simmering tension" relationship with me. Good thing I didn't plan on using him on screen for this episode anyway.

We open the show with footage from "earlier today". We see the Big Boss Man signing autographs on his way into the building when he's blindsided by Nikita Koloff.

The attack is brutal and who knows how bad it could have been had building security not intervened.

In a pre-recorded segment, filmed in an embalming room, Paul Bearer pleads with the Ultimate Warrior to return his urn and says the Warrior has no idea what kind of power he's wielding. He ends the segment by warning Undertaker's Saturday Night's Main Event: Roadblock opponent, Bret Hart, that he's living on borrowed time!

Ricky Steamboat defeated Scott Taylor in 7:40 by submission with a Chickenwing.

After the match, Ricky Steamboat decides to do to Scott Taylor what he was going to do to Hulk Hogan last week, crush his leg in a steel chair. Just like with Hogan last week though, the "cavalry" makes the save, as Roddy Piper hits the ring with a steel chair of his own.

Piper lays out Steamboat with the chair and calls to Howard Finkel for his mic.

Piper: "You're one despicable cat, Ricky Steamboat, you know that? Well I can get down and dirty with the best of em' myself, so how's about me and you see who can get lower at Roadblock?"

In a bout that had decent wrestling but didn't have much heat, Bob Backlund won a TV Title #1 Contender battle royal in 14:32. The other members of the 'final four' were Honky Tonk Man, Tito Santana and Virgil, with Honky Tonk Man being the final elimination. Bob Backlund got the most eliminations over the course of the match.

WWF TV for Week 3, July 1991

Backstage before the show:

- Commissioner Billy Graham got into a heated argument with a fan outside of the arena and had to be restrained before he made things physical. I decided to go light on him since it's the first trouble he's caused, so I gave him a fine. He was happy with the decision and his behavior improved. Honestly, the right thing to do would probably have been to suspend him but he's too important to the show and as I said, it was his first time causing any trouble.

- Tony Atlas has been spreading rumors about Bushwhacker Butch which almost lead to a fistfight between the two. I fined him and he now has a "simmering tension" relationship with me. Butch was pleased with my decision.

Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan, who's wearing a comically large neck brace after his attack at the hands of Mr. Perfect last week, welcome everyone to the show and send us down to "Mean" Gene Okerlund who's interviewing "Macho King" Randy Savage and his Kingdom.

Okerlund: Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome, the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion, "Macho King" Randy Savage, and his Kingdom!!

y9U6V8V.jpg2CI5XZj.jpguiRsVG0.jpgI7JWHGW.jpg

Savage is lead to the ring by Sensational Queen Sherri, flanked on either side by "Ravishing" Rick Rude and Vader. Before Savage will enter the ring though, he waits for Rude and Vader to check under the apron on all four sides of the ring, and only then will he "allow" Sherri to open the ropes for him.

Okerlund: You have got to be kidding me, Randy Savage! What was the meaning of all that? There's not gonna be someone under the r...

Rude jerks the microphone out of Okerlund's hand.

Rude: Beat it, you fat, little twerp!

Okerlund doesn't budge but a menacing step towards him from Vader does the trick, as Okerlund exits the ring and heads backstage.

Savage: I hated to do that to you, Gene, I really did, yeah! But a King can NEVER be too careful! You may have heard the expression, "the calm before the storm", well the Macho King feels a storm a-brewin', yeah. You see, the "Macho King" thinks it's been too quiet around here lately, yeah, what with Jake Roberts gone out to pasture at the hands of Vader. Buuuutt, Jake Roberts was just the first in a long line, of peasants, that want to get their hands on the King, and his WWF Championship, yeah! BUT YOU SEE, I'm just not gonna let that happen, oh no! And Rick Rude's not gonna let it happen! And big Vader's CERTAINLY not gonna let it happen, yeah. So, before anybody gets any bright ideas, the King is making a proclamation, yeah, and it's really simple. The Macho King will be taking the night off at Saturday Night's Main Event, yeah. But even though I won't' be there in person, I'm definitely gonna be watchin', because there's a big match goin' down. The biggest one on the card, yeah. The Macho King is gonna find out who he has to face at Summerslam next month. It's either gonna be The Undertaker, or it's gonna be "Hitman" Bret Hart, yeah. Eit...

lObEcd2.jpg

Graham: Excuse me, your highness!

Commissioner Graham mockingly interrupts Savage.

Graham: But you don't get to "proclaim" things around here. I do!

Savage: Is that right?

Graham: It is, and as a matter of fact I'm here to make a proclamation right now! Not only will YOU not be taking the night off at Roadblock, but neither will the pretty boy and the big man. Because right now, I'M proclaiming that there's gonna be a six-man tag team match at Roadblock. And before I go any further, let me just say that believe it or not, I actually WAS planning on giving you the night off at Roadblock. But when you came out here and started making "proclamations", I needed to remind you who was actually in charge!

An incensed Savage barks at Graham.

Savage: WHO?

Graham: Well, I'm glad you asked. It's gonna be the Kingdom, taking on "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and The Legion of Doom!

The Ultimate Warrior has some pre-recorded comments in response to Paul Bearer's pleas to return the urn last week.

Ultimate Warrior: WHEN I WAS TAKEN BY KEVIN SULLIVAN, WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE ALL THE HORRORS I WITNESSED. FOR IN THOSE NIGHTMARES I WALKED AMONG THE SKELETONS OF ALL THE UNDERTAKER'S VICTIMS OF YESTERDAY, AND I CRAWLED THROUGH THE BLOOD-FILLED TRENCHES OF THE WARS OF THE PAST!! But after some time, I came to a peaceful bridge in a meadow. And when I walked across that bridge, I heard all my little warriors calling out to me from the normal side. From the side of light. But when I reached for their hands, THEY TURNED TO DUST BEFORE MY VERY EYES! And I knew it was you Undertaker, who'd led them there. Who'd put their poor innocent souls in harm's way, AND THAT IS WHY I MUST DESTROY THIS URN ONCE AND FOR ALL! And I will do so at Saturday Night's Main Event!! FOR AT SATURDAY NIGHT'S MAIN EVENT, the darkness will be brought to light, BY THE POWER, OF THE ULLLTTIMAAATTTE WARRRRIIIOOORRRR!!!!

Bret Hart defeated Kato in 5:39 by submission with a Sharpshooter. During the match, the lights went out multiple times.

After his win over Kato, Bret Hart asks for a mic.

Hart: Play all the mind games you want Undertaker. Turn off the lights, send your little henchman Kevin Sullivan after me, wave your little urn around in the air, if you can ever get it back. But the fact of the matter is, you just don't have the chops to hang with the excellence of execution. And I'm gonna prove the old saying correct at Roadblock. The bigger they are, the harder they fall!

Before we go to commercial, Bobby Heenan, still wearing that comically large neck brace he had on in the show opening, has something to say to Mr. Perfect.

Heenan: I bet you think you're just so smart don't you, Hennig?! I bet you think you're a real tough guy too, attacking a defenseless broadcast journalist from behind! Well, Terry Funk isn't a defenseless broadcast journalist, and I DARE YOU! to attack him from behind!

3qzcoj1.jpg

Funk joins Heenan on his way back from the ring.

Heenan: In fact, I dare you to face him at all. I dare you to face him one on one at Roadblock. Because I wanna find out how tough you really are, Hennig!

Monsoon: Oka...

Heenan: Shut up, Monsoon, I'm not finished! There's just one more thing, Hennig. You're gonna be hearing from my attorneys very soon! You're gonna pay for what you did to me last week! In more ways than one!

Steamboat: Roddy Piper. It doesn't surprise me when a man like you sticks his nose in another man's business. You've always had a problem with respecting the personal space of others. And with knowing your place! Well, I can tell you that The Dragon's Den is no place, for a skirt-wearing, big mouth such as yourself. But what's done is done, as they say. So you'll have to be taught a lesson. A lesson in respect.......and honor. Next time use your words, Roddy, and not your lizard brain. It would have saved you a world of hurt. I'll see you at Roadblock!

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Nikita Koloff to open the show.

Okerlund: Ladies and Gentlemen, I can't say it's an honor to introduce my guest at this time, "The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff!

Koloff enters the arena to the Russian National Anthem, but it's nearly drowned out with boos, as the Georgia crowd knows Koloff's antics all too well.

Okerlund: Nikita Koloff, you will face The Big Boss Man this Saturday night with his WWF Intercontinental Championship on the line, in what will be your first title match since entering the World Wrestling Federation. Your thoughts?

Koloff stands in silence, showing no emotion or acknowledgment that he's even been spoken to.

Okerlund: Nikita, do you have anything at all to say?

Koloff: ..........

Okerlund: Well, this was a waste of time! Thank you, Nikita Koloff, I guess.

Okerlund turns to leave, but Koloff grabs him and tears his coat off, nearly ripping it in half. Okerlund falls to the mat and starts sliding backward away from Koloff, begging to be spared. Koloff pulls him to his feet in one quick motion and wraps his chain around Okerlund's throat.

0DVmuB8.jpg

Suddenly "Hard Times" blasts through the arena, ushering in the Big Boss Man, moving as fast as you'll probably ever see a man of his size move. This was exactly what Koloff was hoping for though, as he tossed Okerlund aside and pulled a pair of brass knucks out of his tights, taking a huge swing at Boss Man. He missed though and a wild brawl ensued. The two men fought all over the arena, ending up in the back parking lot with Bibb County Sheriff's Deputies eventually arriving on the scene to break it up and haul both men away in handcuffs!

Undertaker and Paul Bearer are interviewed by an obviously still rattled Gene Okerlund. Bearer says they will never let The Ultimate Warrior destroy the urn, but even if he did manage to destroy it, it wouldn't really matter in the long run, since "The Undertaker has a lot more ways to get what he wants, oh yes!" They then turn their attention to Bret Hart.

Bearer: Oh, the clock on my embalming room wall is ticking down. It won't be long now, Bret Hart. It won't be long until you walk down that aisle at Saturday Night's Main Event and step into the ring with my Undertaker! Right as we're talking now, a big, black hearse is backing up to the loading dock of the Charlotte Coliseum. Oh, it's empty now, but when it leaves it will be full, oh yes, full of the pieces of a broken heart, OOOOOHHHHH YEEEESSSS!!

Undertaker: Bret Hart. You've lost your guaranteed title shot for Summerslam, but at Saturday Night's Main Event, you lose much more. You lose your soul.......to the dark side!!

Next, Missy Hyatt is backstage to interview Roddy Piper about his match at Roadblock with Ricky Steamboat.

Hyatt: Hey guys, Missy Hyatt here. It is my pleasure to bring out one of my all-time favorites, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper!!

Piper: Well hello there, Missy! How ya doin'?

Hyatt: I'm doin' great, Hot Rod!

Piper: You know, no one's called me that in a while around here.

Hyatt: Really?

Piper: Oh yeah, that's right. It hasn't really been appropriate that much lately though, to be honest. But, man, is it appropriate right now! Because I am FIRED UP! Haha! And it's all because of you, Ricky Steamboat. "The Dragon!" The dragon, huh? Well, I've been around for quite some time, Ricky Steamboat, and I ain't never seen no dragon! But I do see you. Yes, I do, and what I see is a sorry little excuse for a man, who doesn't know the meaning of the word honor. Sure, you go 'round usin' it all the time, but you don't know what it means, no sir. Because a man of honor does what's right. A man of honor will look you right in the eye and let you know if he's got a problem with ya. But you don't do that, do ya, "dragon?" Nope, not you. What you do is wait 'til a guy's got his back turned and BAM! You whack him in the leg with a pipe, or a chair, or whatever you can get your grimy little hands on! Well, ole Hot Rod has seen enough. Now, I've neeeever been a fan of one Hulk Hogan, but what you did to him was despicable. And what you tried to do to him after that, well I just don't think there's a word for how low it is. YOU TRIED TO END HIS CAREER! But man, ole Hot Rod can get pretty low himself. Yes, I can! And you're gonna get just a little taste of that this Saturday night in Charlotte!

Piper looks intensely into the camera, before exiting the shot.

Hyatt: Wow, that was intense! Thanks, Roddy! Back to you, Gorilla!!

Some pre-recorded comments from the Kingdom are played next. Savage says they're not really concerned with Jim Duggan and The Legion of Doom at all, and wrestling them will basically be the equivalent of the night off they were planning on taking anyway.

pSgqVy6.jpgD6Tq7WK.jpgkz6sUWY.jpg

Rick Rude interjects to say that he's gonna prove just how easy it will be at Roadblock when he makes quick work of Jim Duggan in tonight's main event. Savage continues by actually admitting that he's concerned about the winner of the Bret Hart vs. Undertaker match, who will go on to face him at Summerslam.

hx5l4Zu.jpg0YsDiyO.jpg

Savage: Bret Hart would definitely not be a problem for the Macho King, oh no! But it's highly unlikely I'll get a chance to prove that. Because "Hitman" Hart may be a great wrestler, but he's no match for death, yeah!

Backstage, the cameras catch Terry Funk sneaking towards a closed door. As he gets closer, the camera pans around to reveal it's the locker room of Mr. Perfect. Funk eases the door open and we can see Mr. Perfect sitting in a chair with his back to the door, leaning forward on his forearms with a towel draped over his head.

QvZ2FVS.jpg

Funk wastes little time in attacking and puts a pretty good beating on Perfect. There was just one problem. When Funk turned to grab a steel chair to take the beating to the next level, Perfect rolled onto his back, revealing that it wasn't actually Mr. Perfect at all! It was Shane Douglas wearing Perfect's singlet!

WAIw266.jpg

Funk is completely confused but he doesn't get to think about it for long, as the real Mr. Perfect attacks from behind with a chair, drilling Funk viciously in the back.

QvZ2FVS.jpg

Perfect doesn't go any further though, as he turns to the camera with a smile and proclaims, "Now that, was the 'Perfect' plan! Perfect laughs to himself as he leaves the room. He suddenly re-enters though, "Oh, and just in case you haven't figured it out, Terry, since you always were a bit slow, that's a yes for this Saturday night! See ya in Charlotte!"

Post-show notes:

- I don't really care much for segments like the one I did with Perfect, Douglas, and Funk on this show. I just don't think they're all that realistic, and if I'm being completely honest, I think they're mostly just plain stupid. I mean, how did Perfect know Funk would come looking for him at all? If he somehow knew for sure that Funk would, then how did he know when? Or where? Why didn't the cameraman say anything? Why would Douglas agree to be the bait? I could go on and on, but you get the idea. It just doesn't make sense. It did serve a purpose though, to show that Perfect is just too smart for Heenan and company, so I guess it's okay. I guess.

The Next Day:

- Both The Undertaker and Roddy Piper think Owen Hart has great potential.

- Shawn Michaels and The Ultimate Warrior, of course, had nothing but bad things to say about someone, in this case, The Berzerker. Michaels told me, not asked me or suggested to me, to cut him, and the Warrior told me he's a waste of time.

- The Ultimate Warrior tested positive for steroids for the second time in the save and I chose to fine him again. He was unhappy about it but Jake Roberts, who hates him, was very happy!

- Mr. Perfect finally got the hat trick, when he tested positive for Hard Drugs. He'd already tested positive for Soft Drugs and Steroids. The only thing left now is to find out he's got a drinking problem! I fined him again, which made Bret Hart, Rick Rude, and Scott Taylor very happy.

****If you participated in the predictions contest for this diary when it was originally started in the TEW 2016 forums, please wait until the round beginning with the December 1991 shows to jump back in here. This will work on the honor system as I'm just not going to take the time to police whether or not someone predicted the last time around. I remember who won the prediction contests from the other thread but that's just about it since I've had a couple of other dynasties on here too and they kind of all run together. This is just for fun anyway. I know it's highly unlikely anyone would remember all the results, or maybe even any of the results, but you can never be certain. To anyone else who's interested in predicting, good luck!****

Monsoon: Welcome to Tar Heel Country! Welcome to the Charlotte Coliseum! Welcome to Saturday Night's Main Event: Roadblock! I'm Gorilla Monsoon and I'm here with my broadcast partner Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, and, Brain, what a show we have in store for these great fans here in Charlotte!

Heenan: Great fans, pfft! They're humanoids, Monsoon! The lot of 'em! But none bigger than that ham-and-egger, Curt Hennig!

Monsoon: Mr. Perfect is no ham-and-egger, Brain. But you should know that better than anyone.

Heenan: I know a lot of things, Monsoon, and I'll tell you this. After tonight, there will be no Curt Hennig in the WWF! The family is gonna see to that!

Heenan points to the comically large neck brace that he's still wearing.

Heenan: You're gonna pay for this, Hennig!

Monsoon: Take that STUPID thing off!

Heenan: I can't, doctor's orders!

Monsoon: Which doctor?

Heenan: You don't know him!

Monsoon grabs at the brace, trying to pull it off. Heenan nearly falls out of his chair.

Heenan: You wanna be the next guy sued, Monsoon?!!

Monsoon laughs him off.

Monsoon: Let's go down to "The Fink" for our opening contest!

Special Guest Referee Tag Team Match

The Rock 'n' Roll Express vs. Shawn Michaels and Brian Pillman

0yWB3YV.jpg

Referee

oGGK4r0.jpgWoC2PxX.jpgxblkqeI.pngA5GI5Ju.pngygf9Rna.jpg

Shawn Michaels and Brian Pillman were out first, with both men donning new attire. Michaels was wearing white, full-length tights with red, broken hearts on them and Pillman had ditched his bengal stripe trunks for full-length, red and white, bengal stripe tights. The Rock 'n' Roll Express were out next and they were surprisingly accompanied by the referee for this match, Marty Jannetty! This did not sit well with Michaels and Pillman who tried to attack Jannetty as soon as he slid into the ring. They managed to get a few stomps in too, but Morton and Gibson cut them off and cleared them from the ring with a pair of double Dropkicks to a nice pop.

This was a great opening match, with solid, fast-paced wrestling that had the crowd on its feet multiple times. And despite his obvious issues with Michaels and Pillman, Jannetty pretty much called this one right down the middle. Well, he did until Michaels forced his hand. Late in the match, Michaels set his sights on Jannetty again, and although he tried his best to hold back, Jannetty let Michaels suck him into a shoving match. When Michaels tried to escalate by going for a Superkick, Jannetty ducked and slapped him in the face with authority. Furious at the disrespect, Michaels charged at Jannetty, but Ricky Morton grabbed him by the tights from behind and rolled him up. A very fast count followed from Jannetty and the Rock 'n' Roll Express were the victors at 16:09.

After the match, an enraged Micheals and Pillman tried to attack Jannetty, but they were thwarted by Morton and Gibson, who shook hands with Jannetty to a huge pop as he raised their hands in victory.

Terry Funk w/ Bobby Heenan vs. Mr. Perfect

3qzcoj1.jpgw/WikFKEQ.jpgxblkqeI.pngQvZ2FVS.jpg

Vince McMahon took Bobby Heenan's place in the broadcast booth for this match, as Heenan's current "crown jewel" of the Heenan Family, Terry Funk, took on the former "crown jewel" of the Heenan Family, Mr. Perfect. This match could have turned out very differently, or not happened at all if Terry Funk's plan to ambush Mr. Perfect in his dressing room wasn't so flawed. Luckily for Mr. Perfect, his plan to thwart said ambush was, well perfect, and he managed to escape a potentially far worse fate than Funk ended up suffering at his hands. Funk's anger at being tricked was on full display too, as Funk, being the raging lunatic that he is, attacked Perfect with his branding iron before the bell. This made Bobby Heenan, who laughably came to the ring in a wheelchair for this match, exceedingly happy. Eventually, WWF officials would break the skirmish up, and Perfect informed the referee that he was good to go for the match.

And what a match it was, as the 25-year veteran Terry Funk, matched his much younger, much more athletically gifted opponent, move for move. It was no doubt his best performance in years, and Bobby Heenan was grinning ear to ear from nearly start to finish. Nearly 15 minutes in this was still anyone's match, and it was just a matter of who'd make a mistake first. It was Terry Funk, as he chose to go for a second Piledriver on Perfect instead of pinning him after the first. Perfect would reverse that second Piledriver attempt by pulling Funk's legs out from under him and flipping forward into a bridge for a very close near fall. This turned all the momentum towards Perfect, as he would follow up the near fall with an Inverted Atomic Drop, Standing Dropkick, and Rolling Neck Snap in quick succession, before calling for the Perfect Plex. This drew the obviously not injured Bobby Heenan from his wheelchair to argue with Perfect. Perfect paid him little mind though, knowing he was surely up to something and hit the Perfect Plex anyway. Unfortunately for Perfect though, young Referee Shane Stevens did pay attention to Heenan. So much so in fact, that he never saw...

Y0aBEZC.jpg

Paul Orndorff rush into the ring behind his back and drill Perfect in the stomach with Funk's branding iron to break the Perfect Plex. Orndorff would then pull Funk on top of Perfect and get out of the ring just in time to avoid detection by Stevens, who counted the three for a Funk victory at 16 minutes, 25 seconds.

zUIEnZl.jpg

<hr>

After the match, Perfect tried to go after Bobby Heenan but Orndorff put a stop to that with another branding iron shot, as the other "family" members joined him in the ring.

nOiJizq.jpglzVtBMt.jpg

In a repeat of King of the Ring, it was 5 on 1 again, as the entire Heenan Family, including Heenan himself, went to work on Perfect. Unlike King of the Ring though, Heenan wasn't going to finish the beatdown with a chair shot. He was gonna let Funk finish it with a branding! Just like all the other times Funk had tried to brand someone since he'd joined Heenan's "family" though, he was interrupted by an outside party. This time it was....

"Dr. Death" Steve Williams and Terry Gordy! The Miracle Violence Connection, as they were collectively known in Japan, struck immediate fear into the hearts of the entire Heenan Family, who made a fast getaway before Williams and Gordy could even reach the ring.

YzftxzZ.jpgyJ54Ll3.jpgxblkqeI.pngHfr9JPp.jpgD6jDtTj.jpg

The WWF World Tag Team Titles were on the line next, as champions, Ted DiBiase and Sid were forced to defend against the team they won them against in the first place, The New Foundation. And they'd have to do it without DiBiase's "accountant" Irwin R. Schyster at ringside to help them this time. One would wonder why they had needed his help in the first place though, and why they'd been basically ducking the New Foundation since this was a fairly one-sided match. Sure, Owen and Neidhart got some offense in, and Owen in particular looked every bit the 15 year veteran as DiBiase despite being much less experienced, but they were just no match for the champions. Sid hits a Double Chokeslam on both men and then plants Neidhart with a Powerbomb to retain at 16:03. Ted DiBiase and Sid make their 3rd defense of the WWF Tag Team Championship.

No Night Off Six-Man Tag

The Kingdom w/ Sensational Queen Sherri vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and The Legion of Doom

xblkqeI.png

pSgqVy6.jpgD6Tq7WK.jpgkz6sUWY.jpg

We got our second surprise of the night before this match even began, as the Legion of Doom made their return to tag team action, but they didn't come alone. Instead, they were

<details> <summary>SPOILER</summary>

reunited with their former manager Paul Ellering, who said he'd made the biggest mistake of his life when he left their side many years ago. He also said he would make up for that mistake by guiding them to the top of the tag team division.

3HPN0t1.jpg

Not only did the Kingdom not get the night off they wanted, they didn't even get a metaphorical night off, as Duggan and the returning Legion of Doom had no intention of rolling over for Savage and company. Fresh off his recent suspension(rehab stint), Hawk was even more aggressive than usual and made fairly easy work of both the WWF Heavyweight Champion Randy Savage and Rick Rude in the early parts of this one. He was brought back down to earth though, literally, when Vader tagged in, as a Chokeslam and a Powerbomb would have surely spelled the end for the "good guys" had Animal not broken up the pin. From there, this was a pretty even match, with neither team on the receiving end for too long, but neither team really building too much momentum either. In the end though, the match wasn't decided by one of its actual participants. It was decided by...

6uWqSI4.jpg

Jake Roberts! Roberts came through the crowd, climbed over the barricade, and attacked Vader while he was standing on the apron, which gave The Kingdom the victory by disqualification at 15:37.

gZdyvUM.jpg</details>

<hr>

Roberts' ribs were heavily taped here, so Savage, the other man on the apron with Vader at the time of the attack, immediately targeted them to gain the advantage. Rude, LOD, and Duggan quickly joined the skirmish, but it's The Kingdom getting the advantage and taking out all their opposition, with Vader doing the bulk of the heavy lifting himself. With LOD and Duggan seemingly out of the picture, The Kingdom set their sights on further damaging the injured ribs of Roberts, as Rude tore the tape off while Savage put the boots to them. Just as Vader is about to finish his most recent assault of Roberts with a Vader Bomb though, Duggan and LOD rejoin the battle and Duggan chases the Kingdom away with his 2x4.

The Big Boss Man © vs. "The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff

0DVmuB8.jpgxblkqeI.png3tOYMIU.jpg

The bad blood had been brewing between these two men for weeks before they finally met in a non-ambush style fight on this past episode of Prime Time. A fight that saw them battle all over the arena and parking lot before finally landing themselves in handcuffs when a passerby saw them fighting and called the police. Apparently, their time in jail, however small it may have been, taught them nothing, as this match also started with a wild, arena-wide brawl. Why Referee Joey Marella never threw the match out from the get-go is a mystery, but he let their actions slide until they finally made their way to the ring, and the fans were rewarded with an entertaining fight. Yes, fight, not match, since there was very little in the way of actual wrestling done here, as both men showed their respective mean streaks. When it was all said and done though, Koloff's proved to be just a bit wider. After "accidentally" taking out the referee, Koloff would use Boss Man's own nightstick as a weapon against him, drilling him in the throat to secure the win and his first championship in the WWF, the Intercontinental Title, at 16:29.

Back from a WWF Fan Club advertisement, The Ultimate Warrior's theme hits and he sprints to the ring with a large duffle bag in his right hand. He tosses the bag over the top rope before climbing onto the apron and shaking the ropes to a nice pop. He climbs in the ring and up all four turnbuckles, pumping his arms in the air. As the crowd starts to settle down, he's handed a mic from the ring attendant. He stares confusingly at the mic for a moment, before tossing it back out of the ring. He grabs the duffle bag he brought with him and pulls out the urn, placing it in the center of the ring. He goes back into the bag a second time and pulls out something else, a sledgehammer! The fans are going crazy as Warrior draws the hammer back, prepared to keep his word and destroy the urn once and for all. He appears to have second thoughts though and drops the Sledgehammer. He paces back and forth a bit, talking to himself, before reaching down and picking up the urn again. Looking to the now confused crowd, the Warrior begins to twist off the lid! As he does, a green smoke begins to billow out of the urn. Warrior immediately drops it as the lights suddenly go out in the arena.

0YsDiyO.jpgcUdFYH7.jpg

The lights stay off for nearly a minute, and when they come back on, Paul Bearer is standing in front of the Ultimate Warrior in the ring. Unfortunately for Warrior, he doesn't know that The Undertaker is standing behind him! Warrior starts towards Bearer, but Undertaker grabs him from behind and nails a Tombstone Piledriver. Bearer picks up the urn and screws the lid back on, shouting in glee as he lifts it into the air. Undertaker pulls Warrior up off the mat, prepared to hit another Tombstone, but Bearer pulls his hair as he's done many times in the past, stopping the attack. Undertaker starts to follow Bearer out of the ring, but Bearer stops and reconsiders. He commands Undertaker to go ahead and hit the second Tombstone after all, and he does, leaving the Warrior out cold in the middle of the ring.

Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper

m42sSZt.jpgxblkqeI.png6c5ITBO.jpg

As many "industry insiders" predicted, this was the match of the night. These two have headlined shows across the globe in their almost 35 combined years in the ring, and this match showed why they were counted on in such big spots so many times in the past. What was unusual about this match versus some of their earlier encounters though, was the fact that it was Steamboat using the underhanded tactics and Piper fighting fair. Well, fair by Piper's standards anyway. There was of course the usual eye-gouging from the Scotsman. And the usual back clawing. And the usual foot stomping. And the usual....well you get the idea. But he never outright "cheated" in any way. You couldn't say the same about Steamboat though, as he hit at least three low blows to halt Piper's momentum at different points in the match, and even managed to remove a turnbuckle pad without the referee catching him. He would then drive Piper's head into the exposed steel, also without being caught, which busted Piper open. And although he continued to put up a fight, he never could quite recover from the blow, passing out from blood loss in a Figure Four Leglock at 20:15.

cRQ0UaZ.jpg

<hr>

With Piper unconscious after the match, there was no one to stop Steamboat from doing to Piper what he'd tried to do to Hulk Hogan and then Scott Taylor in the past month, crush his leg in a steel chair. Instead of attempting it by jumping off the middle turnbuckle as he'd tried in the past, Steamboat just placed Piper's leg inside the chair, folded it shut, and beat it relentlessly with another steel chair. Referee Danny Davis tried but was helpless to stop the attack. In the end, Steamboat must've hit at least a dozen chair shots to Piper's trapped leg before several wrestlers ran to the ring, forcing him to flee.

Match to determine #1 Contender to WWF Heavyweight Championship at Summerslam

Bret "Hitman" Hart vs. The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer

hx5l4Zu.jpgxblkqeI.png0YsDiyO.jpgw/cUdFYH7.jpg

When he won the first annual King of the Ring Tournament last month, Bret Hart thought he had successfully secured a WWF Heavyweight Championship match for Summerslam. The Royal Rumble winner, The Undertaker, and his manager Paul Bearer, didn't think that was fair though. After all, Hart had defeated just three men in one night to win the King of the Ring crown and was given a title shot, but the Undertaker had defeated 29 men in one night at the Royal Rumble and wasn't given a title shot. Although they rightfully didn't like going back on their word to Bret Hart, and that's all it was since the contract hadn't actually been signed yet, Commissioner Graham and WWF President Jack Tunney agreed with Bearer and Undertaker's assertion, and thus this PPV's name was born, Roadblock!

The Undertaker had suffered little damage in one on one situations in his WWF career up to this point, and mostly against men much larger than Bret Hart. But none of them had the Canadian's wrestling prowess. Hart's talents were on full display here, as he used his vast technical wrestling knowledge and ring awareness to keep Undertaker at bay. His goal was simple and clear from the opening bell, focus on Undertaker's legs to, number 1, keep him off his feet, and number 2, to soften him up for the Sharpshooter. It was working pretty well too until Paul Bearer got involved. A distraction from Bearer got Undertaker back on his usual tear, as he rampaged through Hart for a solid four minutes, ending the onslaught with an Old School and a near fall. As he got to his feet and made a throat-slitting gesture to call for the Tombstone though, the lights went out. When they came back up, it was revealed that it was

LrRaKZ7.jpg

The Ultimate Warrior giving the Undertaker a dose of his own medicine, as he was trying to take the urn away from Paul Bearer once again. This drew Undertaker outside the ring where a brawl for the urn ensued. While Undertaker and Warrior were brawling towards the back, the urn ended up on the arena floor, allowing Paul Bearer to retrieve it and make a quick escape. Unfortunately for The Undertaker, that would be his only victory here, as Referee Earl Hebner counted him out while he was fighting with Warrior outside. Bret Hart wins an excellent match, and the WWF Heavyweight Championship title shot at Summerslam, in 20:30.

Post-show notes:

- (Pre-show match) Chris Adams and Kevin Von Erich have absolutely no chemistry as partners.

- I was pretty much certain that the Steamboat/Piper match would be the highest-scoring match of the night, and I could've gotten a better show grade by putting it as the main event. However, the KOTR winner versus the Royal Rumble winner to see who faces Randy Savage for the WWF Championship at Summerslam was the only logical main event from a realism perspective, so I went with that.

- Pleasant surprise of the card goes to the WWF Tag Team Championship match scoring a very unexpected 91!

- I was expecting slightly better scores for the Kingdom 6-man tag and the Boss Man/Koloff match though.

- I don't think Steve Williams and Terry Gordy are really a good fit for 1991 WWF, but I need some more decent face tag teams so I'm giving them a shot.

Top 10 in-ring performances of the night:

Randy Savage - 97

Roddy Piper - 95

Big Boss Man - 94

Ted DiBiase - 93

Mr. Perfect - 93

Bret Hart - 93

Ricky Steamboat - 92

Rick Rude - 92

Terry Funk - 92

The Undertaker - 86

The Next Day:

- Chris Adams has been identified as a hard drug user by the WWF drug testing policy. I fined him and nothing noteworthy resulted.

- Pat Patterson says Timothy Well(Rex King) is turning into a good worker and is worth getting behind.

- Shawn Michaels basically ordered me to cut someone from the roster again. This time it was The Berzerker since he "sells like crap."

- Hawk's return from rehab saw him "reformed" of both his Drinking habit and his Hard Drug Use. However, his percentages never dropped at all when I checked the editor, so fingers crossed he doesn't slip up again soon.

Agreed! I almost always prefer to have the babyface chasing. It's much easier to extend feuds that way.

My first ever predictions!

Thanks for joining in, Tigermask69! I really appreciate your readership!

<hr>

Saturday Night's Main Event: Roadblock prediction results:

scottk1983 - 6 of 8

smw88 - 5 of 8

Tigermask69 - 5 of 8

Helginho - 4 of 8

scmurph01 - 4 of 8

Blodyxe - 3 of 8

KyTeran - 3 of 8

A mixed bag of results for the first slate of matches for round 2. Looks like everyone predicted Michaels and Pillman to beat the Rock and Roll Express, but I wanted to give Morton and Gibson a win back after feeding them to DiBiase and Sid at King of the Ring. Besides, there's plenty of time to build Michaels and Pillman up, and having Jannetty cost them the match just adds more fuel to his feud with Michaels. Plus it's unlikely Michaels and Pillman become a full-time team, whereas the RNR express will be fixtures of the tag division for years to come, so I felt they needed the momentum more right now. The other match with the most incorrect predictions was the Funk/Perfect match, with only scottk1983 and first-time predictor, Helginho, predicting a Funk victory.

Second Round Prediction contest standings after Saturday Night's Main Event: Roadblock

1.) scottk1983 - 6 points

2.) smw88- 5 points

2.) Tigermask69 - 5 points

4.) Helginho - 4 points

4.) scmurph01- 4 points

6.) Blodyxe - 3 points

7.) KyTeran - 3 points

This round of the prediction contest will run through the Survivor Series PPV in November. "Prize" still TBD. Thanks so much to everyone for reading, predicting, and commenting!

After Monsoon and Heenan welcome us to the show and announce Vader vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan as our Main Event, we're sent to some pre-recorded comments from WWF Heavyweight Champion "Macho King" Randy Savage, and his Kingdom.

Savage: Ooooooh Yeaahh!! It's the "Macho King" Randy Savage, yeah. And I've got a message for you "Hitman" Hart. CONGRATULATIONS, yeah! You've won the right to step into the ring with THE greatest professional wrestler in the world today, yeah! Buuuut, that's all you're gonna win, yeah. YOU CAN'T TOUCH ME BRET HART, oh no! Because you may be the 'excellence of execution', yeah, but I am, THE KING! DIG IT?"

Back from commercial, and a Bobby Heenan rant from the commentary position on Mr. Perfect's rematch request is interrupted by Commissioner Graham. Graham announces he has indeed granted Perfect's request for a rematch with Funk at Summerslam. Heenan laughs him off though, saying Funk will have no problem winning again. Graham says he's glad Heenan's so confident since he's added a stipulation he doesn't think Heenan will like. First of all, the match will be a Lumberjack match with the lumberjacks handpicked by Commissioner Graham himself to ensure Heenan doesn't get any ideas. Lastly, if Mr. Perfect wins he'll get 5 minutes alone in the ring with Heenan, while the lumberjacks keep "the family" away. He ends the segment by announcing he's also granted The Miracle Violence Connection's request to face Haku and Barbarian at Summerslam.

That's right, wrong! I shouldn't have been trying to take the night off at Summerslam. I should've just sucked it up, injury and all, and signed my name on that dotted line next to yours, Sid. Why? Because Hawk and Animal may be no match for my brains, but they're also no match for your brawn. You won't even need me in this match. You could take out both of those guys and that big mouth manager of theirs, Paul Ellering, single-handedly. Actually, come to think of it, I may just make your life a little easier Sid, and buy Paul Ellering for myself. Have him strategize for me. Heenan: What about me, Hogan? Isn't it great to be speaking with me?

Monsoon: Okay, gentlemen, if I can be serious for a minute. Hulk Hogan, are you going to be 100% going into Summerslam?

Hogan: That's what the Doctors tell me, Gorilla. But 100% or not, I'll be in Madison Square Garden on August 28th, and "The Dragon" will be spitting nothing but hot air when I'm through with him!

Monsoon: Indeed, Hulkster. Now, I'm assuming so, but did you see what The Dragon did to Roddy Piper a few weeks ago, and to poor Brian Costello last week?

Hogan: I did, Gorilla, and it really turns my stomach. I've already spoken to Brian Costello and his family and offered them my deepest apologies and offered to pay his medical bills.

Monsoon: And what about Roddy Piper, Hulkster? Will he be in your corner at Summerslam?

Hogan: He will, Gorilla, and although the two of us haven't always seen eye to eye, we're in complete agreement, that Ricky Ste.."The Dragon" must be stopped!

Monsoon: And finally, Hulkster, we want to allow you the opportunity to speak directly to The Dragon, who I'm sure is watching.

Hogan: I'm gonna do all my talking in the ring, Gorilla, but I do have one thing to say to "The Dragon" right now. WHATCHA GONNA DO, DRAGON, WHEN HULKAMANIA, AND THE LARGEST ARMS IN THE WORLD, SLAY YOOOUUUUU?!!!!

And then when the time came to step in the ring, there were your henchmen again, and next thing I know, I'm looking up at the lights thanks to Rude and your scepter. Well, I don't have any henchmen, Savage. I don't have any goons to do my bidding. What I do have though is a family. A family that's always got my back no matter what I'm up against. So bring 'em all with you at Summerslam. Bring Rude, Vader, Sherri, whoever else you want. Because family trumps henchmen every time. And that's who I'll have in my corner! </em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><img alt="y9U6V8V.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/y9U6V8V.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="uiRsVG0.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/uiRsVG0.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="I7JWHGW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/I7JWHGW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="2CI5XZj.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/2CI5XZj.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Savage:</strong></span><span style="font-size:14px;"> </span><span style="font-size:14px;"><em>OOOOOH YEEEAHHH, Bret Hart.
