6. </span><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"><strong>Razan Okamoto defeated Big Bruiser Findlay</strong></span><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> in 18:05 by pinfall with a Brainbuster Suplex. </span><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"><strong>[64]</strong></span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

~ SUKI had a relatively easy job in his final match of the tournament, facing and defeating the much less experienced Azumamaro Kita. This brought him up to 9 points and a temporary lead in the scorecard, but he still had to wait until the end of the night and hope that Findlay would draw with Okamoto to stop at 8 points each. This wasn't the case though, and SUKI made it close but did not leave Kobe as the winner of the A Block.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

~ Matshushita and Taku were practically out of the race for the top of the Block, but their match was more about their personal performance and final ranking. Taku had started off strong early on but hit a slump later on, with Matsushita coming from the opposite direction and looking to end the tournament with one last big win. Yoshi Taku's striking and technical acumen made for a solid performance, but his finisher of choice, the Full Nelson Bomb, was difficult both to apply and pull off against an opponent the size of Matsushita, thus the giant was able to stay in the fight and chokeslam his way to victory.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

~ Findlay and Okamoto met in the main event, in the shadow of SUKI's 9 points over their 7. As mentioned, this was life or death, winner take all; whoever won the match would also win the block, whereas a draw would spell doom for them both. Findlay got the majority of the offense here, beating down Okamoto but not managing to break his fighting spirit within. Okamoto kicked out of an Atomic Spinebuster and even settled for a more DDT-like version of his Brainbuster Suplex, but it wasn't enough. It would take catching Findlay on the ropes for him to win, hitting him from that elevated position with his finisher for the three count and the top of the rankings in Block A.</span></p></div><p></p><p></div></p><p>

~ Since this was the last tour show before the Maeda GP finale, Challengers Series Medallion holder FEAR faced Masashi Urogataya, the man who holds the other two Medallions, in order to determine which of the two will be facing Tanyu Toshusai for the title. Urogataya brought a good mix of submission mat wrestling and big slams to the match, but FEAR just kept on coming no matter what bombs got dropped on him, until he caught Urogataya with two Fear Drivers before making the cover to collect all three Medallions.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

~ Matsuzawa had a tough job in beating Giant Brody, but through speed and some smart wrestling, he pulled it off and used the athletic big man's momentum against him to send him crashing multiple times, to the mat, ropes or outside. This shot him to 9 points and a temporary top of the scorecard, but just like SUKI in the A Block, he would have to wait for the main event and hope that Furusawa and Ikoma would end in a time limit draw. In the semi main event, Torii rained down the blows on Atto Savage for a victory that has both of them finish the GP at 7 points, not quite the outcome Torii would have liked but a solid first showing for the Dread Army representative.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

~ Mirroring the A Block final match, the winner would top the overall rankings and a draw would condemn both men to a loss in favor of Yoshisada Matsuzawa, a situation that added a sense of urgency to the match, even if Furusawa and Ikoma took their time to put together a slow burner. Fans were drawn into the contest as both competitors rained down the big bombs, but the gamechanger came from Furusawa countering a suplex into a situation that saw his full weight crash on top of Ikoma's arm. This not only set up his armbar finisher, it also took out most of Ikoma's striking and grappling strength, creating the opening for the big final stretch and Furusawa beating the clock by two minutes to end the night on top of the B Block.</span></p></div><p></p><p></div></p><p>

Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Suguru Emoto, Ichiro Mitsukuri and Koyo Kinoshita) vs Seven Samurai (Funakoshi, Blast Ikoma, Nobuharu Yokokawa and Sojuro Sen)</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

The opening eight man tag was essentially a showcase of contrasting philosophies, Torii's group of young hungry talent against Funakoshi's collection of established, grumpy old veterans. The match played out as such, with the more experienced side beating on Emoto, Mitsukuri and Kinoshita for the most part, while Torii had to run in and make the save on various occasions. Mitsukuri and Kinoshita were able to use some of their double team moves to fight back and it was Emoto who took the brunt of the damage, but he always came back swinging in a defiant display of fighting spirit. Torii himself brought his signature machinegun chops and various forearm or elbow strikes to turn up the heat, but it was clearly not enough to win this and it ended with Emoto tapping out to Yokokawa.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Seven Samurai (Funakoshi, Blast Ikoma, Nobuharu Yokokawa and Sojuro Sen) defeated Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Suguru Emoto, Ichiro Mitsukuri and Koyo Kinoshita) in 13:42 when Nobuharu Yokokawa submitted Suguru Emoto with a Stump Puller. Okamoto-gun (Dynamite Narahashi, Yoshisada Matsuzawa, Inejiro Yoshizawa and Noritoshi Miura) vs Conner Threepwood, Ray Snow and The American Cobras</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

With Razan Okamoto competing in the GP finals, his allies took on the four man gaijin team of relative newcomers Threepwood and Snow, as well as the ever-dangerous American Cobras. This was mainly meant to show off the two new guys and establish the Cobras as a legitimate team, so they got a lot of chances to showcase their offense. There was also an interesting segment of the Cobras against the former World Tag Team champions, almost as if testing the waters for a future tag match between them. It took a lot of effort for any team to win this as there were always people around to break up covers, but once the finishing sequence kicked off and everyone began dropping the big bombs, it ended with Malloy's Marvel Breaker taking out Matsuzawa.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

In a decent match, Conner Threepwood, Ray Snow and The American Cobras defeated Okamoto-gun (Dynamite Narahashi, Yoshisada Matsuzawa, Inejiro Yoshizawa and Noritoshi Miura) in 16:26 when Marvel Malloy pinned Yoshisada Matsuzawa with a Marvel Breaker. Ryobe Uno has proven to be a step behind from his usual partner and this was also displayed in the match as he took most of the beating for his team, but once again his fighting spirit kept him in the match despite the big moves he got hit with. The brutish gaijin of Dread's Army were mostly brought down thanks to solid fundamentals and some good submission wrestling on the match, which in turn forced them to wrestle a style they're not used to and in turn made the match feel like it could swing either way. Although it didn't end with a tap, the tactic was still good enough to wear down the three big men and Kikuchi was able to get a surprise win by rolling Abomination up in a cradle. This victory means that Last of the Golden Lions will likely be the first challengers to The Horror's BCG World Tag Team titles in the upcoming Test of Champions tour.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

In a bout that had good wrestling but didn't have much heat, Pillars of Puroresu (Masashi Urogataya, Danjuro Kikuchi and Ryobe Uno) defeated Dread Army (Atto Savage, Abomination and Monstrosity) in 15:58 when Danjuro Kikuchi pinned Abomination with a quick cradle. After collecting all three Medallions, FEAR was given a shot at the Challengers Series title and it certainly made for a rough first defense, as Toshusai met the big man head on but had to withstand an insane amount of punishment from the deadly arsenal of the Dread Army leader. This was displayed when FEAR kicked out of the defending champion's big new Suplex Powerslam, as well as Toshusai's patented Dangerous Brainbuster, both near falls getting a big reaction from the sold out audience. Not that FEAR had it easy since his opponent also kicked out of his deadly Fear Drive, but this only prompted the man to get more violent and introduce the title belt to the match. He never got to use it as a weapon since Toshusai fought back before the swing, but it eventually played into the finish when FEAR hit his finisher onto the belt, taking out Tanyu to become the new BCG Challengers Series champion.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, FEAR defeated Tanyu Toshusai in 14:03 by pinfall with a Fear Drive. FEAR wins the BCG Challengers Series title. [56]</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

Kadonomaro Kamisaka vs Naozane Goto</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

Regardless of the outcome of the previous match, the race for the three Challengers Series Medallions was bound to start anew since they had been cashed in for a title shot, so in the first of these three matches Kamisaka took on Goto. The former sumo star was the clear favourite, not only due to size but also because "Serene K" has been mostly wrestling in the tag division next to Kiyotaka lately. Kamisaka's game plan was to work the leg and take away the big man's vertical base since he couldn't target the neck and back like he usually does, but that's easier said than done when your opponent is someone like Goto. It made for an entertaining, if rather predictable match and Goto claimed the first of three Medallions for Dawnguard after a ring-shaking Goto Slam.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

In a decent match, Naozane Goto defeated Kadonomaro Kamisaka in 14:27 by pinfall with a Goto Slam. Naozane Goto wins the Medallion #3. [56]</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

Omezo Shikitei vs Yoshinaka Taku</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

Ever since he joined Black Canvas, Shikitei has proven his wrestling acumen time and time again, his performances eventually landing him a shot at one of the Challengers Series Medallions. Fans however were consistently behind the familiar Taku in this one, some would say in part also due to Shikitei's apparent inability to connect with the audience despite his crisp technical skills and hard strikes. The matchup made for an entertaining contest and by the time Yoshi Taku hit the Full Nelson Bomb, Shikitei had at least managed to earn respect with his performance, meaning that both men left the ring as bigger stars than when they entered it.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

Azumamaro Kita vs Rokuemon Matsushita</strong></span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

Despite finishing near the bottom of the table in the Grand Prix, Kita was still able to push Matsushita to a 20 minute time limit draw when they met, so their rematch was not just about the Medallion, but also about a decisive finish between the two of them. Now more familiar with Kita's arsenal of scything kicks, Matsushita came into the match with his strategy adjusted accordingly and stayed out of reach, at times even lying in wait and grabbing Kita's leg to counter. Kita on the other hand did not bring any changes to his game and that was what he paid for, with Matsushita delivering multiple chokeslams during the finishing sequence to secure a decisive victory just before the 15 minute mark.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Rokuemon Matsushita defeated Azumamaro Kita in 14:16 by pinfall with an One-Handed Choke Slam. Both men had stumbled during the Grand Prix and they had to struggle in order to eke out a last night win just ahead of their respective opponents on the card, so this was going to be the climax of it all. Well aware that this would be a marathon (and selling the long term piled-up damage of the gruelling tournament) they started off slow, testing each other's defences and taking the time to regroup and recuperate after each exchange. Furusawa had the strength advantage over his smaller competitor and he used it to maintain wrist control as he clinically targeted the arm to set up his armbar. Okamoto panicked at first and tried to avoid such predicaments, but as the match went on, he would instead fight his way out of them, including a big spot where he defiantly threw a short range lariat on his opponent. Realizing he needed to use his speed to stay at a safe distance and pick his spots, Okamoto used hit and run tactics with dropkicks, crossbodies and other basic but effective moves to punish his opponent and regain control of their contest. It didn't take long though for the crafty Furusawa to see through his opponent's tactic and counter it, using Okamoto's own momentum against him. A well-timed side step sent Okamoto crashing onto the ropes, then later he got lured to try a move off the top rope, only to discover mid-air that Furusawa had been playing possum and rolled out of position. Furusawa immediately went back to working his opponent's right arm and even applied the armbar on one occasion, which a spent Okamoto had to break out by reaching for the ropes as he had little left in the tank to fight out of it otherwise. This kicked off the finishing sequence of the match as Furusawa punished his opponent's arm some more and went for the armbar again. Okamoto had a brief flash with a quick burst of offence that led to him hitting the Brainbuster Suplex, but Furusawa kicked out just before the count of three. Okamoto still fought on and even put Furusawa in an armbar of his own, but it turned out to be a bad move as Furusawa managed to reverse it into his own armbar and finally force his opponent to submit after nearly 25 minutes of non-stop punishment to his arm.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

In a bout that had superb wrestling and great heat, Mabuchi Furusawa defeated Razan Okamoto in 24:28 by submission with a Furusawa Armbar. Mabuchi Furusawa wins the BCG Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix. [83]</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

</span></p><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">~ The big news coming out of the Press Conference is the presentation of four new faces that will be joining Bruiser Brigade. According to the faction's leader Big Bruiser Findlay, the group was small and tight knit to begin with and with Animal Harker sidelined for months due to injury, there was a need to bolster the ranks. Chief among the new recruits is James Diaz, son of the legendary Raymond Diaz, but he is not the only second generation wrestler as he is joined by Original Sinner, son CZCW and PSW legend Primal Rage. The other two members were revealed to be a tall cowboy known only as Texas Hangman and Maelstrom, a menacing big man brought in from Australia.</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

1. Dread Army (FEAR, Atto Savage and The Horror) defeated Pillars of Puroresu (Last of the Golden Lions, Yutaka Ogata and Ritsu Ibata) in 9:50 when Atto Savage submitted Ritsu Ibata with a Savage Claw. [47]

2. Conner Threepwood, Ray Snow and The American Cobras defeated Dawnguard (Ichiro Mitsukuri, Koyo Kinoshita, Suguru Emoto and Takenori Doi) in 15:33 when Ray Snow pinned Takenori Doi with a Spinning Back Fist. [38]

3. Rokuemon Matsushita, Azumamaro Kita and Omezo Shikitei defeated Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Yoshinaka Taku and Naozane Goto) in 14:01 when Rokuemon Matsushita pinned Naozane Goto with an One-Handed Choke Slam. [58]

4. Pillars of Puroresu (Mabuchi Furusawa, SUKI, Tanyu Toshusai and Masashi Urogataya) defeated Seven Samurai (Funakoshi, Blast Ikoma and 3K) in 20:09 when SUKI pinned Kadonomaro Kamisaka with a Mountain SUKI. [63]

~ The aftereffects of the Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix finale are still felt as this new tour kicks off and Funakoshi looked deflated, as opposed to the renewed confidence of Furusawa who took the World title from him. Largely a match meant to showcase the change in momentum regarding both factions, it still was a treat for BCG fans in Chubu who finally got to see their favourite wrestlers live after nearly half a year of no shows outside the Kanto region.

~ Matsushita and Goto's announced match was sealed with a pinfall victory of the former over the latter, setting up the two Medallion holders to face each other. The winner will move on to the finals against Yoshinaka Taku, then immediately a title match will be held, a setup that makes the Challengers Series really feel like a test of endurance, odds favouring the champion to retain as he will be facing a challenger who will have already wrestled one or two matches right before the big bout.

~ Senior of his class and eager to ascend the ranks, it is no surprise that Takenori Doi has thrown in his lot with Dawnguard. This show however also was the debut of Yutaka Ogata and Ritsu Ibata on a main show match, both young boys said to be studying under the tutelage of new BCG World champion and Pillars leader, Mabuchi Furusawa, in the dojo.

2. Dread Army (Atto Savage and The Horror) defeated Pillars of Puroresu (Masashi Urogataya and Last of the Golden Lions) in 16:23 when Atto Savage submitted Masashi Urogataya with a Savage Claw. [50]

3. Rokuemon Matsushita, Azumamaro Kita and Omezo Shikitei defeated Bruiser Brigade (Big Bruiser Findlay, Giant Brody and James Diaz) in 14:02 when Rokuemon Matsushita pinned James Diaz with an One-Handed Choke Slam. [54]

4. Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Yoshinaka Taku, Ichiro Mitsukuri and Koyo Kinoshita) defeated Seven Samurai (Blast Ikoma, Roku Sotomura, Nobuharu Yokokawa and Sojuro Sen) in 14:14 when Yoshinaka Taku pinned Nobuharu Yokokawa with a Full Nelson Bomb. [56]

5. Pillars of Puroresu (Mabuchi Furusawa, SUKI and Tanyu Toshusai) defeated Seven Samurai (Funakoshi and 3K) in 17:51 when Tanyu Toshusai pinned Kiyotaka with a Dangerous Brainbuster. [64]

~ Two nil for Pillars against Seven Samurai after Toshusai got the pin over Kiyotaka. Once again, Funakoshi's leadership comes into question as he seemed to hesitate during some critical moments of the match, allowing the opposition to control the match and gain the win in the main event, while the faction also lost their semi main event to Dawnguard.

~ James Diaz showed what he can do in his first match inside a BCG and he amazed everyone despite his little time as a pro. He did, of course, end up getting pinned as he pays his dues, but it took a hard fight and a big fight from big man Matsushita to get the job done.

~ Dread Army picked up another win over Pillars, with The Horror looking stronger with each match leading up to their title defense against Last of the Golden Lions. Kikuchi and Uno did their best alongside Urogataya, but ultimately it wasn't enough against the trio of their opponents.

3. Dread Army (FEAR and The Horror) defeated Pillars of Puroresu (Tanyu Toshusai and Last of the Golden Lions) in 13:42 when FEAR pinned Ryobe Uno with a Fear Drive. [58]

4. Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Yoshinaka Taku, Ichiro Mitsukuri and Koyo Kinoshita) defeated Seven Samurai (Blast Ikoma, Roku Sotomura, Kadonomaro Kamisaka and Kiyotaka) in 15:54 when Bunrakuken Torii pinned Roku Sotomura with a Flying Forearm Off Top. [58]

5. Pillars of Puroresu (Mabuchi Furusawa, SUKI and Masashi Urogataya) defeated Seven Samurai (Funakoshi, Nobuharu Yokokawa and Sojuro Sen) in 18:31 when SUKI submitted Nobuharu Yokokawa with a SUKI Special III. [72]

~ Pillars of Puroresu extended their streak to 3 main event wins over none for Seven Samurai as Funakoshi's group looks to be on shaky ground in. Even with the addition of veterans Yokokawa & Sen, the trio of Furusawa, SUKI and Urogataya still managed to get the win and it seems like Furusawa just keeps building momentum in light of his big BCG World title match.

~ The group's younger talent does however seem to be on the losing end in their own series against Dread Army as they head towards a match for the World Tag Team titles. Kikuchi and Uno once again couldn't get the job done even with the addition of Tanyu Toshusai to their team and Dread's group of big men scored another win over them.

~ James Diaz was in action again and with him, Texas Hangman made his in-ring debut. The big brawler from Dallas, Texas put on a good effort alongside his fellow rookie and other two team members, but Diaz eventually tapped out to Omezo Shikitei's superior technique.

~ Roku "The Rock" Sotomura made his return from injury but even the addition of this veteran wasn't enough to turn the tables against Pillars of Puroresu. The group of former GCG stars seems unstoppable and has had the number of Seven Samurai throughout this tour, causing considerable doubt on whether Funakoshi will be able to retain his title against Furusawa in the end.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

~ Ragnarok also made his in-ring debut in this show and it was in spectacular fashion as the big man demolished young lion Ritsu Ibata with his impressive Death of the Gods finisher. Dread Army may have lost some of their initial aura after taking their first losses in BCG, but with FEAR and The Horror still holding gold and the addition of Ragnarok, it seems as though the course has been corrected for the group to wreak more havoc in the company.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

~ Diaz and Texas Hangman continue to pay their dues, it seems, with the latter tapping out to Kiyotaka's kimura this time. The big brawlers seem to have plenty of strength but lack the experience and technique that will allow them to use them and get victories, so it seems that Bruiser Brigade is playing the long game and investing for the future, much like a twisted gaijin reflection of Bunrakuken Torii's Dawnguard faction.</span></p></div><p></p><p></div></p></div><p></p>

~ Even having his number two by his side didn't do Funakoshi any favours, as yet again the Seven Samurai lost a main event match to Pillars of Puroresu. The group seems nigh unstoppable during this tour, at least on a main event level as Last of the Golden Lions teams tell the opposite story with continued losses to representatives of Dread Army.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

~ With Toshinobu Taku having announced his upcoming retirement, many expected him to take the fall in his match here but the veteran carried himself with all the poise and grittiness one would expect of him against Razan Okamoto's group. Instead, it was the youngster Suguru Emoto who took the pin after a hellacious fight that confirmed that Emoto only needs some time before he can start ascending the ranks for good.</span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#F5DEB3;">

~ Rokuemon Matsushita was needed once again to convincingly put out James Diaz, but he did so after a solid match thanks to Kita and Shikitei rounding out his power with their technical acumen. Findlay and Brody brought the brutish brawling to push the opposition but, as expected, youngster Diaz eventually took the fall for their team.</span></p></div><p></p><p></div></p></div><p></p>

1. Rokuemon Matsushita, Azumamaro Kita, Sharaku Okimasa and Omezo Shikitei defeated Bruiser Brigade (Big Bruiser Findlay, Giant Brody, James Diaz and Original Sinner) in 11:52 when Sharaku Okimasa submitted Original Sinner with a Scorpion Deathlock. [57]

2. Conner Threepwood and Ray Snow defeated Yokokawa & Sen in 16:18 when Conner Threepwood submitted Nobuharu Yokokawa with a Stretch Plum. [48]

3. Dread Army (FEAR, Atto Savage, Ragnarok and The Horror) defeated Pillars of Puroresu (Masashi Urogataya, Last of the Golden Lions, Yutaka Ogata and Ritsu Ibata) in 13:34 when Abomination pinned Ritsu Ibata with a Chokeslam From Hell. [52]

4. Okamoto-gun (Razan Okamoto, Dynamite Narahashi, Yoshisada Matsuzawa, Inejiro Yoshizawa and Noritoshi Miura) defeated Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Team Taku, Ichiro Mitsukuri and Koyo Kinoshita) in 15:56 when Inejiro Yoshizawa pinned Toshinobu Taku with a Yoshizawa Bomb. [62]

5. Pillars of Puroresu (Mabuchi Furusawa, SUKI and Tanyu Toshusai) defeated Seven Samurai (Funakoshi, Blast Ikoma and Kadonomaro Kamisaka) in 21:06 when Tanyu Toshusai pinned Kadonomaro Kamisaka with a Dangerous Brainbuster. [77]

~ BCG returned to their home turf of Kansai, but this did not change things for Funakoshi or Last of the Golden Lions, who once again lost their respective matches to Pillars of Puroresu and Dread Army. With one more night to go before the final big show of the tour, both groups will be looking for at least that one last redemptive victory.

~ Conner Threepwood and Ray Snow were able to pick up an important victory over the veteran pairing of former World Tag Team champions Yokokawa & Sen. The Indiana Strangler's vintage but effective Stretch Plum managed to squeeze out a submission from Yokokawa and it seems Threepwood may be finally finding his footing on the Black Canvas.

~ Original Sinner also made his BCG debut in the opening match, but despite the power he brings, it was clear to see that he is less experienced than James Diaz or Texas Hangman, so it was no surprise that he ended on the wrong side of a Scorpion Deathlock, giving Sharaku Okimasa's team the win.

1. Okamoto-gun (Razan Okamoto, Dynamite Narahashi, Yoshisada Matsuzawa, Inejiro Yoshizawa and Noritoshi Miura) defeated Bruiser Brigade (Big Bruiser Findlay, Giant Brody, Texas Hangman, James Diaz and Original Sinner) in 13:35 when Yoshisada Matsuzawa pinned Original Sinner with a Double Arm DDT. [58]

2. Dread Army (FEAR, Atto Savage, Ragnarok and The Horror) defeated Pillars of Puroresu (SUKI, Last of the Golden Lions, Yutaka Ogata and Ritsu Ibata) in 16:04 when Atto Savage submitted Ritsu Ibata with a Savage Claw. [50]

3. Rokuemon Matsushita, Azumamaro Kita and Omezo Shikitei defeated Conner Threepwood and The American Cobras in 16:18 when Azumamaro Kita pinned Conner Threepwood. [59]

4. Seven Samurai (Blast Ikoma, Roku Sotomura and 3K) defeated Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Yoshinaka Taku, Ichiro Mitsukuri and Koyo Kinoshita) in 16:06 when Blast Ikoma pinned Ichiro Mitsukuri with a Northern Lights Bomb. [64]

5. Pillars of Puroresu (Mabuchi Furusawa, Tanyu Toshusai and Masashi Urogataya) defeated Seven Samurai (Funakoshi, Nobuharu Yokokawa and Sojuro Sen) in 18:30 when Mabuchi Furusawa submitted Nobuharu Yokokawa with a Furusawa Armbar. [74]

~ A clean sweep for Furusawa's group in the main event as well as Dread Army in their matches for this tour, impressive showings from both parties that they'll look to keep up during the upcoming big show as well. Seven Samurai did get a consolation prize in defeating Dawnguard in the semi main event however.

~ Azumamaro Kita didn't quite get a chance to shine following the Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix, but he made his presence felt on this night when he reversed Threepwood's Stretch Plum into a pinning predicament that got him the pin. Despite not aligning themselves with any factions, all six men in that match have been looking pretty strong throughout the tour and it is certain that various groups will be looking to recruit them into their ranks.

~ Bruiser Brigade were present in near-full force, minus Maelstrom and the injured Animal Harker, but it was Original Sinner's inexperience that once again cost that team the match. Fans were consistently behind Okamoto-gun from bell to bell and seemed quite excited to witness Matsuzawa tricking the brutish rookie into setting himself up for the Double Arm DDT that ended the contest.

Appreciate it. I'm very much a "hate rival company" kind of guy, so I'd play BCG as trying to run GCG to the ground (same way I play GSW as anti-IPW) and with GCG folding after the tsunami in the 2020 database, I had to set new goals. Given BCG's size, broadcast deal and dojo, my plan now is to grow the company into a solid #3 and maybe even challenge PGHW's position as the top "pure" wrestling company in Japan. Fortunately, the finances are good enough to also allow me a huge roster, though I'll admit I still have to figure out any big feuds/storylines other than Dread's invasion (I mean, I haven't even determined who the chief group defending BCG against them will be).

Very curious to see where you go with it. In previous iterations I always tried to keep the core BCG roster small and focus on a rotation of gaijin to keep things fresh and outlast GCG, but now with GCG dead and most of BCG being a younger generation that doesn't necessarily feel inherently anti-BHOTWG, I almost don't know what to do with them in 2020. The Dread idea you've run with has felt so fresh in contrast.

Azumamaro Kita, Omezo Shikitei and Sharaku Okimasa vs Conner Threepwood and The American Cobras

The opening match was very much a showcase for everyone involved: Kita planting his flag again after his first ever Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix, Shikitei in his first ever big show in BCG, Okimasa finding his footing more as a singles after the announced retirement of Yoriie Ippitsusai, Threepwood and the Cobras showing what they can do after being somewhat overlooked due to the recent influx of foreign talent. There was a lot of technical wrestling on display, though each side used different things to mix it up as Kita and Shikitei peppered their offense with strikes while the Cobras would spice things up with some high flying and their smooth double team maneuvers. There were plenty of moments in the finishing stretch where the match could have ended, but it was Kita who made it despite being caught in the Stretch Plum as he rolled back to keep Threepwood's shoulders on the mat for the three count.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Azumamaro Kita, Omezo Shikitei and Sharaku Okimasa defeated Conner Threepwood and The American Cobras in 12:27 when Azumamaro Kita submitted Conner Threepwood. [59]

Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Suguru Emoto, Ichiro Mitsukuri and Koyo Kinoshita) vs Seven Samurai (Blast Ikoma, 3K and Sojuro Sen)

Dawnguard have become a fixture of the BCG midcard as of late, with the group racking up victories during the tour as well as being in posession of two Challengers Series Medallions, which is about to be expected when Bunrakuken Torii has to carry an entire group of unestablished young guns. This was pretty much the story of this match as well, with Dawnguard fighting against the old school veteran faction of Seven Samurai, the youngsters trying to make a name for themselves while the old guard fought to maintain their spot and humble the up and comers. Sojuro Sen was, of course, the best to pull that one off and he did in convincing fashion as he chopped and beat down most of Dawnguard until "Machine Gun" Torii got in the match to answer the onslaught with his own rapid fire chops. Unfortunately, there was only so much Torii could do in an eight man tag and his young partners eventually caved under the pressure of the opposition, with Ikoma pinning Emoto after a spine crunching Northern Lights Bomb.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Seven Samurai (Blast Ikoma, Kadonomaro Kamisaka, Kiyotaka and Sojuro Sen) defeated Dawnguard (Bunrakuken Torii, Suguru Emoto, Ichiro Mitsukuri and Koyo Kinoshita) in 11:50 when Blast Ikoma pinned Suguru Emoto with a Northern Lights Bomb. Big Bruiser Findlay & Giant Brody vs Atto Savage & Ragnarok

The next chapter in the Findlay-Savage feud after the latter debuted to turn on the former, Savage lost their singles match at Lionheart but returned with the latest member of Dread Army in a tag match. This was Ragnarok's first match in a major BCG show and it was rather competitive as Findlay sold the miscommunication on his own end: he would often expect a certain behavior from Giant Brody, before he'd remember that this wasn't Animal Harker who's used to teaming with him, in turn creating an opening for Savage and Ragnarok. For all the giants involved in this, the bout was clearly, almost intentionally, slow and dragging as all four men held back somewhat and it took away from the intensity of it all, with even the finish of Findlay pinning Savage once more feeling a little rushed and out of nowhere.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Big Bruiser Findlay and Giant Brody defeated Atto Savage and Ragnarok in 14:25 when Big Bruiser Findlay pinned Atto Savage with an Atomic Spinebuster. [45]

With allies wrestling for two of the three titles on this night, SUKI, Toshusai and Urogataya could have taken this match easy, but instead they were driven to prove they belong to be around such big players. This urgency was a stark contrast to the easy going vibes of Okamoto-gun, although Razan himself seemed a little extra motivated to get the win over the allies of the man who defeated him in the finals of the Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix. This drive on both sides made for a more exciting matchup, even if most of it was about chain wrestling, reversals, submissions and mat grappling without a lot of bit bombs or high flying action to excite the crowd. The match told a simple story, that of Narahashi and Matsuzawa not being able or willing to kick things into a higher gear to match Okamoto's pace and ultimately costing him a tap out victory to the SUKI Special III. Pillars of Puroresu were off to a good start in the night.

In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Pillars of Puroresu (SUKI, Tanyu Toshusai and Masashi Urogataya) defeated Okamoto-gun (Razan Okamoto, Dynamite Narahashi and Yoshisada Matsuzawa) in 15:34 when SUKI submitted Razan Okamoto with a SUKI Special III. [58]

14th Champions The Horror vs Challengers Last of the Golden Lions

Despite being the underdogs in this match, Last of the Golden Lions already had a surprise roll up victory over the champions to get their shot in the first place, so it looked like they could once again trick them to win the gold. Not really deviating from their usual tactics, the Horror bullied their opponents around and tried to isolate Uno for a beating, while both challengers opted for submissions aimed at the legs to take their larger opponents down. Kikuchi and Uno got a chance to show a lot of heart as they fought back against impossible odds, but their slow burn tactics required surviving a great deal of damage before they paid off. Still, they got to make life hard for the champions for nearly 15 minutes, before they teamed up to hit Uno with their Apocalypse Blast tag finisher to score a pin and retain.

In a bout that had good wrestling but didn't have much heat, The Horror defeated Last of the Golden Lions in 14:29 when Monstrosity pinned Ryobe Uno with an Apocalypse Blast. The Horror make defence number one of the BCG World Tag Team titles. [58]

Naozane Goto vs Rokuemon Matsushita

If Bruiser Brigade versus Dread Army earlier was a hoss fight in slow motion, this one compensated fans of such bouts and it was clear right out the gates as, instead of a staredown, Goto went immediately into a series of rapid fire sumo palm strikes to force his opponent to the ropes. This was about the only technical offense Goto would showcase in the match, as for its remainder he utilized vicious brawling tactics to put the hurt on Matsushita, who played the role of babyface through the use of crisp strikes and solid technical skills that allowed him to use his already massive power to pick up Goto and slam him to the mat. For all the bombs he would rain down on Goto however, it was a Camel Clutch that ended the match as the former sumo star's back had taken enough damage to cave under the pressure of big man Matsushita applying such a hold.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Rokuemon Matsushita defeated Naozane Goto in 11:25 by submission. Rokuemon Matsushita makes defence number one of the Medallion #1. Rokuemon Matsushita wins the Medallion #3. [60]

Yoshinaka Taku vs Rokuemon Matsushita

Matushita remained in the ring and Yoshi Taku joined him for the next match in what was essentially a mini Challengers Series one night tournament. Exhaustion and damage sustained already on Matsushita's part made for a level playing field and this bout was quite competitive. What couldn't be eliminated however was Matsushita's sheer size, which in turn made it difficult for Taku to pull off his Full Nelson Bomb finisher. Matsu had multiple failed attempts in hitting his own chokeslam finisher, with Taku either escaping or his own lingering damage haunting him before he could pull it off. In the last one, Matsushita seemed to suffer from a spiking pain to his right shoulder and it brought him down to one knee, providing just enough of an opportunity for Yoshinaka Taku to roll him up from behind and claim all three Medallions.

In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Yoshinaka Taku defeated Rokuemon Matsushita in 12:43 by pinfall with a fast roll up. Yoshinaka Taku makes defence number one of the Medallion #2. Yoshinaka Taku wins the Medallion #1. Yoshinaka Taku wins the Medallion #3. [66]

FEAR vs Yoshinaka Taku

Much like Matsushita before him, Yoshinaka Taku now had to wrestle back to back matches and just seeing FEAR make his entrance, one could tell that the odds were stacked in the champion's favor. Coupled with FEAR's unforgiving offence, the setup allowed Taku to put his selling on display and garner sympathy from the crowd who wanted to see him pull off a defiant win against the brutish gaijin. Once again, the mismatch in size presented Taku with a challenge as to how he would be able to hit his finisher, which along with the damage he'd sustained in the previous match, helped make his comebacks all the more wild, fans cheering for Taku Jr.'s fighting spirit. It wasn't meant to be though; a decapitating lariat and a Fear Drive later, the ref counted to three and FEAR stood towering over his fallen challenger raising the title in the air.

In a bout that had great wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, FEAR defeated Yoshinaka Taku in 11:46 by pinfall with a Fear Drive. FEAR makes defence number one of the BCG Challengers Series. [63]

9th Champion Funakoshi vs 2020 Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix Winner Mabuchi Furusawa

Furusawa walked to the ring with all the confidence in the world and a smug grin on his face. He had seven out of seven wins over Funakoshi's team throughout the tour, coming off from winning this year's Yoshifusa Maeda Grand Prix. He was, for all intents and purposes, an unstoppable force. On his side, Funakoshi came out wearing the special outfit he had on back in October, when he defeated Furusawa for the title at The Lion's Roar, BCG's biggest show of the year. A small reminder of this essentially being their rematch since then, as well as a bit of mind games on the champion's part.

Despite the usual slow start, there was no feeling each other out and testing defences in this match. Instead, the two competitors showed they're familiar with each other by dodging and reversing each other's moves, slowly and methodically, indicating this would be a long one and built around a classic puroresu style of hard strikes and technical excellence. As if the "BCG versus GCG" layer of storytelling wasn't obvious enough given the respective factions these two lead, Furusawa further pushed the envelope when he hit Funakoshi with one of the signature moves from his father, Hanshiro Furusawa's, wrestling days, before a concussion forced him to retire and lead Golden Canvas for years, included their notorious joining of the Modern Japan Movement. As if in response, Funakoshi delivered the Cattle Rush, followed by the Pistol Whip Lariat, Pistol Pete Hall's two finishers, popping the crowd but only getting a two count. A nice nod to the past, but a tactical mistake as Funakoshi just doesn't hit these moves the same way Pistol Pete used to and especially after delivering the lariat, he also took a good amount of damage and his arm was clearly in pain, making it a prime target for his opponent and the dreaded Furusawa Armbar.

This kicked off an offensive from the challenger targeted at Funakoshi's damaged arm, with the champion trying to mount a comeback but the pain preventing him from being able to lift up Furusawa for the Butterfly Backbreaker. As things escalated, Furusawa began hitting bigger moves while a desperate Funakoshi sought to respond with bombs of his own and put away his opponent before any more damage could be done to his arm. This built up to Furusawa mounting Funakoshi on the corner, likely for the 10 punches or some kind of rana. The champion mustered his fighting spirit to escape and leave the corner with his opponent on his shoulders in a powerbomb position. It looked as though he could pull off some kind of big move, perhaps a backbreaker, from that position, but Furusawa began to furiously punch the damaged arm. It was just enough to block the move, but instead of going for the arm, Furusawa shifted his weight and the two men ended tangled up in a pinning predicament. Caught by surprise, Funakoshi took a split second too long to get a shoulder up, just after the count of three.

In an exceptional match, Mabuchi Furusawa defeated Funakoshi in 21:24 by pinfall with a surprise roll up. Mabuchi Furusawa wins the BCG World title. [83]

SUKI and Toshusai, who had escorted Furusawa to the ring during his entrance and remained at ringside to cheer him on, slid under the ropes after the final bell and put the new champion on their shoulders in celebration. Furusawa was then handed the belt and with his trusty lieutenants by his side, he cut a victory promo to wrap up the show and send the fans home happy. [52]</div>

Furusawa: "Everything I promised to do, I did just that. I won my Block, I won the Grand Prix and now I won the World title. I am the best wrestler in this company and no one can say otherwise."

Funakoshi: "Furusawa-san... congratulations on your victory, but we all know it is a hollow one. You won by chance, not skill, and I will soon return to prove, without a shadow of a doubt, who the real World champion is."

FEAR: "We carry the World Tag Team titles, I'm still the Challengers Series champion and only two more defences away from taking the World title. Soon, Dread Army will dominate Black Canvas."

Taku: "I wanted to make my dad proud before he hangs up his boots. That is a goal for me and I have a few more months to achieve it before he steps out of the ring."</div>

"I don't know, Maeda-san. We were going down anyway, maybe I should quit the business altogether now."

The words shocked the owner of Black Canvas Grappling. They made sense given the situation, but he had conflicting feelings about what he was to say in response. Was he offering salvation, or was he being disrespectful? It was a special occasion and everyone was emotional, himself included.

Sadaharu Jimbo

(1941 - 2020)

"Take a look around you" Maeda whispered, trying not to be overheard as his gaze scanned everyone in attendance. Sadaharu's nephew, Seiji, was in the front row, alongside current and past PGHW legends. Musashibo, Koiso, Inukai, Hoshino, Kawashima, Ugaki, Tatsuko, they were all there, even Koryusai Kitoaji and Hito Ichihara had come out of the woodwork to once again be around anything wrestling related. This was a who's who of puroresu, even a few names from other companies and the independent scene had shown up to pay their respects to the innovator of the physically intense style that had been PGHW's trademark.

"People like us never really quit the business" Maeda continued. "Kitoaji and Ichihara are here. I had to drag Yoshizawa-san out of retirement to help me get Black Canvas off the ground. Hell, I don't see myself ever calling it quits while my brain's still in place and I'm 66 years old. Do you really want to watch from the sidelines with that itch eating you up from inside? I'm offering you a way out of this, Mito. Flying solo didn't work out, but you've always done a great job of training Jimbo's boys. Now you'll go back to that, just using a black mat and my boys instead."

Very interesting. Buying SAISHO as a developmental isn't the kind of move I'd expect from the fiercely isolationist BCG, but realistically it makes sense to absorb that kind of prestige. Though I'm not really sure how good the 2020 developmental system is. In 2016 you could set up a touring dev company and have decent midcarders ready in a year.

Oh well, if skill growth rate is capped anyway, makes no difference whether people wrestle for my company or developmental. Figured I could use a middle stage between the dojo and dark matches for my young lions. It's more of a conquest move than a partnership one, so it still fits with isolationist BCG in my mind.
