Matt Cross has been a part of the wrestling business for 22 years but still has the passion of a punk rock kid who goes to concerts every single night... What's his secret? More specifically, what drives Matt Cross forward and keeps his interest high?

There are a lot of ingredients to Matt's longevity. First of all, Matt Cross was never employed for a big wrestling company, only tasting the sour taste of big time rejection during his brief feature in the 2011 edition of Tough Enough. Freedom from the corporate world of 'sports entertainment' allowed Cross to be his own boss and make his own schedule. Matt traveled all around the world, visiting 25 countries, and hundreds of independent companies. Cross is traveling 360 days days a year, and not because he has to, but because he loves exploring new places and styles of his favorite craft.

Another big reason for two decades of Matt Cross is the man's straight edge outlook on life. He doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke, and what's even better - he doesn't make a big fuss about it, never talking about how he is better than anyone else. The genuine, humble, and somewhat unlucky guy rarely has problems connecting with the fans, who once volunteered to set up a donation page for Matt when he was out with an injury. Cross didn't want to take the money like that and organized a merch company called 'Wrestling Is Forever', offering a simple and classy catalogue of wrestling-related outfits.

Despite being a naturally sweet guy, Cross was always lured to violence and misbehaving. That's how he became an avid ECW enjoyer, and how he got into backyard wrestling, which even granted him a video game appearance in 2003. Then there was the indie scene, Wrestling Society X, a rejection from the fed, and a long-deserved breakout... Lucha Underground became a home for the nomad, a place to be for everyone who loves vocal crowds, vibrant colors and violent fights. While Matt Cross no longer dons a mask and a leather vest, his motto stayed very biker-ish... Independence above all!

"The Man from The Open Road" has plenty of gas left in his tank, and this Monday he will make his debut for Azteca Underground, under the watchful eye of 'rechristened' El Jefe. Can Matt bounce back from his loss to Jacob Fatu by beating a mysterious 'Son of a Demon'? Tune in and find out.

Finishing Move: The Market Crash

A complete opposite to Matt Cross, Richard Holliday is a self-proclaimed "Most Marketable" asset in all of Major League Wrestling. In his own eyes, Richard has the size, charisma, look and athleticism to reach every demographic in MLW. All that to profit from 'consumers' as a businessman!

Holliday describes himself as the corporate era wrestler, putting branding and image above the art happening inside the ropes. This is not a surprise, given that the man has a bachelor’s degree in marketing. And that's not to say that he's a bad performer. Richard can totally back it up in the ring, as he has been trained by the legendary member of the 4 Horsemen... Paul Roma! 'The Airpod God' combines his smarts with peak physical conditioning to rise his stock and break into new markets all around the world. Holliday has an impressive resume, having won the IWA Caribbean Heavyweight championship and MLW World Tag Team championship with Maxwell Jacob Friedman as part of 'The Dynasty' - perhaps the most recognizable long-standing faction in the whole company.

While Richard seems like a snobbish, obnoxious type, he still has a lovable side to him. It is mostly displayed when interacting with 'The Interview Queen' Alicia Atout or his best friend and stablemate Alexander Hammerstone. The most recent market research proves that the bromance of two beefy stallions positively affects the merchandise sales of the whole group, and if the money is right, Richard will gladly embrace the role of a 'babyface' full time. When you think about it, he only acts mean to annoying paparazzi and low-life scum that saturates his rarified air when he consumes dynastic coffee. Behave, and maybe you will be lucky enough to become friends with Holliday. Chances increase if you come from a wealthy family or have a bright future in the business!

So what's on the grand road map of Richard Holliday in 2021? After losing the IWA Heavyweight championship to King Muertes, Holliday immediately contacted his father/lawyer to negotiate a rematch with "The Man of 1000 Deaths". Problem is, Cesar Duran is not your typical promoter. You may shower him with expensive gifts or make him a ton of money, but at the end of the day, he's the boss and you're just a piece on his board. You have to do more than that to get his respect and admiration. You have to give Cesar violence, and only then you can count on unique opportunities. Holliday will get a great platform to showcase his toughness this week when he faces the reigning and defending MLW World Heavyweight champion, the unstoppable 'Samoan Werewolf'... Jacob Fatu!

The timing really couldn't be any better for that bout, given that Alexander Hammerstone is a Battle Riot III winner, looking to challenge the dominant Fatu in a champion versus champion showcase at Fightland. Can Holliday soften Hammer's rival, or will he be just another victim of CONTRA?

MLW Azteca #2 Card

1. Matt Cross vs. Bestia 666

I think he wins pretty convincingly too.

2. Trios Match: Gringo Loco, Laredo Kid, Zenshi vs. Los Parks (L.A. Park, El Hijo de L.A. Park, L.A. Park Jr.)

I don't know on this one but I figure Los Parks owe the trio for last week and they'll get some this week.

3. Texano vs. ???

Strong win to start off.

Bonus Question: Who will face Texano in his official Azteca debut? I don't have much idea but if Texano is winning strongly as I expect, Aramis can eat the loss.

MLW Fusion #137 Card

1. TJ Perkins and Lee Moriarty vs Davey Richards and Bu Ku Dao

Bu Ku Dao is eating the fall here.

2. Tag Team Tournament: Von Erichs vs. Contra Unit (Mads Krugger, Ikuro Kwon)

They have to be strong contenders to go all the way in this.

3. Jacob Fatu vs. Richard Holliday

You're not having the champion lose a non title match, surely? :p

Thanks for predictions and your thoughts, Mootinie! ;)

Excitement is building, great first Azteca Underground show!

Thank you! Second episode is already put on the paper, hope you enjoy

<3 for booking Arez/Aramis.

Thought it was the best fit to kickstart Azteca, two ultra talented luchadores who have some exp wrestling each other. Not the last time they will face each other too!

Haven't been on these boards since last winter. I come back to this? Beautifully done, great look, two of my favorite writers.. I'm happy and following a bit closer now. Great work guys.

Oh man, it's good to see you! Your ECW diary has a special place in my memory, and I am sure not only mine. Thank you for the kindest words, hope we live up to the hype.

Episode #2 - "El Hijo del Demonio"

Taped for El Rey Network in Tijuana

Aired on Week 2, September 2021

"The reports of my death were greatly exaggerated... In-cre-ible... Escucha me, Aramis. You're the next big thing, ese... Call '4-2-3 Get Fame' and let me guarantee you, your life won't be the same... Beat him up, and you will get this contract... Laredo Kid, prepare to face my youngest son and lose your shiny little title tonight, haha! Next week, I want to see Son of Havoc against... Son of The Demon!"

EoltbKc.jpg

The show starts with a cinematic angle of Aramis riding to the arena, followed by a lowrider that blasts obnoxious latino rap. To avoid the trouble on the road, the young luchador parks his rental car and comes into the mini-store, to get some snacks and wait over the trouble.

This wasn't a good move for Aramis, as the gangsters stopped near his vehicle and slashed all four tyres in a matter of seconds. They are gone faster than the wind, and Aramis can only watch in despair. Now the young man looks for some help from strangers, when suddenly, a familiar face passes by in the black convertible. Konnan offers him to jump in, he has just a place for him.

Aramis puts two plus two together and walks away from K-Dawg's car. it was his LAX goons who slashed his tyres and this was all a plan to lure him in. Konnan spits on the ground and drives away, not being able to recruit a lucha star into his ranks once again.

eYrYIyb.png

We're back in The Tijuana Temple, where believers are ready for all the violence El Jefe cooked up for them! Konnan and Famous B are sitting behind the announce desk, a bizarre sight.

SZchgWy.jpgt7pCc0q.jpg

- Yo we back with episode two of Azteca Underground, what it do? K-Dawg is in the house and let me tell you, we're ready to get rowdy in here!

- Really Konnan? No introduction? Hey believers, my name is Famous B, I'm the CEO of Infamous Inc. Call 4-2-3 and I'll make you famous!

- Jeez Louise, what type of shill are you? I'm glad I was outta Lucha Underground before you came about, we wouldn't get on really well, ese.

- Yeah, I'll give you two weeks before you burn the bridge with El Jefe and bounce somewhere else, va-to!

- Don't you have beef with him too, you fool? How did you even get there after the ass whoopin' you got last week?

- I am here on a two week tryout from Court Bauer, since, and I quote, 'we have good chemistry'. I persuaded the main man that I can ma-

- Alright, shut your trap, we have better things to do than hear you yapping around. Believers, please welcome back, 'La Nina' Melissa Santos!

The beautiful Melissa Santos is back, and you just know she was called by the boss.

CFGpNnG.jpg

"The following lucha is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, from the open road... M-DOGG 20, MATT CROSS!"

From the open road, huh? Well, look who comes to Azteca Underground, the man who challenged Jacob Fatu for the title in his first match back! Matt Cross is a well traveled veteran who puts independence above everything. He has the support of the believers, even though he's not a luchador, nor does he wear a mask.

"And his opponent... from Tijuana, México... El Hijo del Demonio... BESTIA 666!"

The son of the demon gets a good reception from his hometown, but both Melissa and Matt know something that makes them slightly worried. Bestia motions a cut throat at Cross, who leaps over the top rope to give us a hot start!

Bestia 666 vs. Matt Cross

Even though he has a new name and look, Matt Cross is no stranger to the danger, and he's ready to reak havoc!

Two fighters brawl around the ring for a good minute or two, sharing no good feelings toward each other. Cross misses with a Flagpole Elbow Drop and gets thrown into the stack of chairs by the rudo, who's looking as evil as one can. Bestia throws Cross back into the ring and takes over the match, trying to cover the veteran after some nasty looking moves. Matt might not be the biggest fighter, but his heart is immense, and he shows his fighting spirit, landing a Back Elbow from the top rope! He looks to finish the hometown villain off with a Shooting Star Press, but gets distracted by a screeching howl. This audio distraction created enough time for Bestia to rise and drop Matt Cross with La Valagueza!

Big victory for the unfamiliar, creepily painted face!

Bestia 666 defeated Matt Cross in 9:12 by pinfall with La Valagueza. [36/100]

<details><summary></summary></summary>

Bestia 666 had an in-ring performance of 43.

Matt Cross had an in-ring performance of 28.

Post match, Bestia looks down on Cross and waves over to someone in attendance. A man in metal armor jumps over the rails and slides inside the ring to stomp on the loser! Famous B gets anxious, he recognizes the intruder.

"That's Mechawolf! Oh God, Konnan, he's looking our way!"

Don't sweat it partner, El Jefe is here to save the day! Cesar Duran doesn't look happy to see either man inside his Temple.

a7Xd5p1.jpg3g470Yh.jpg

"Mechawolf, you're back to jumping people from the back! I guess I know why they call it a 'dog move' now. You're too scared to face MY luchadores face to face. I'm actually surprised to see you here. You don't have anyone to serve, anyone to give you orders anymore. I guess you're just a stray dog, looking for a shelter... But since I'm such a generous man, I'll give you a chance to earn your bone, so to speak. Next week you're going to face Matt Cross one on one, on your home soil. That's exactly how confident I am in your failure. See you next week in Puerto Rico!"

Mechawolf growls as Cesar Duran drops the mic, and barks something to Matt Cross. Bestia pulls his metal friend away and after a brief blackout only M-Dogg 20 is left in the ring. Konnan and Famous B reflect on what happened, and we get a little promo ahead of the first trios match in Azteca Underground's brief history.

r8CMFR4.jpg7PhwGVR.jpg

Gringo Loco hum hums some Action Bronson tunes in the locker room, quiet enough not to disturb Zenshi, who's meditating on the bench nearby. Laredo Kid, the winner of last week's main event, comes in to express his gratitude. He thanks both guys for coming forward and protecting him from Los Parks. He appreciates them, and wants all three to get a fresh start they deserve!

Gringo nods and gives Laredo a fist bump. Zenshi opens his eyes and looks at the AAA Cruiserweight champion.

shCzj6i.png

"Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth... No need to thank us, Laredo."

Laredo nods and says that they're booked to wrestle Los Parks next in a trios match, and the victory would do wonders to their careers here. All three will look over each other to make sure no funny business happens tonight. Los Parks against Gringo Loco, Zenshi and Laredo Kid, next!

Trios Match

Gringo Loco, Laredo Kid, Zenshi vs. L.A. Park, LA Park Jr, El Hijo de L.A. Park

The first ever trios match continued right where Laredo Kid ended his match last week - wowing believers with his athleticism and innovative moves and keeping the skeletons on the back foot.

Things changed a bit when L.A. Park struck Laredo from behind and used his experience to cut the ring in half. Papa Park barked orders to his sons, who traded places in and out, stomping and jumping on the new hope of lucha libre. Gringo cheers Laredo to make the hot tag, and Kid strikes "The Chairman '' with a dramatic Enzughiri, letting the "Base God" show off his moves once more. Gringo is too excited, making the biggest man in the match mad and hurt. Park writes off a nasty receipt and tries to end the bout early after La Parkinator! Zenshi saves the partner and all hell breaks loose, people jumping in and out of the ring in a frenzy!

Zenshi avoids the trouble and simply tags himself in to try and nick a cheeky cover on L.A Park. Bad decision! The sons of the legend throw Laredo Kid into the barricade and Gringo Loco chases them off... before being struck in the jaw by some believer!! He has a wrench in his hand.

Zenshi begs for mercy, but Park has none, getting the win for la familia after La Lanza!

Los Parks defeated Laredo Kid, Zenshi, Gringo Loco in 8:42 by pinfall with La Lanza. [45/100]

(-) Gringo Loco almost injured L.A. Park, sparking a simmering tension between the two.

</summary></details></details></details>

La Familia Real leaves the ringside without a beatdown this time, and the commentators wonder what the guy’s problem with Gringo Loco is. The "fan" drops down his hoodie and tears off his mask...

anZRzdj.jpg

"Oh my gosh, that's my former client, Big Bad Steve!!" - yelps Famous B.

Steve looks mad. He grabs a wooden chair and wrecks it across Gringo's spine!! What for? Before leaving, Steve yells that all Gringo had to do was wait for him... Huh. He then walks off ignoring a high five from Famous B. It is not clear if Steve is a part of Azteca roster, but given that he can bring the violence Cesar Duran looks for, he might be signed soon.

eYrYIyb.png

Speak of the devil... Cesar Duran is pouring himself and Texano some bourbon in the office. Texano doesn't wait until the boss ends his toast and downs the drink immediately. That irks Cesar, who's now asked if he has tequila?

HFk877Y.gif

"I'm afraid not, Texano. Even if I had some, I wouldn't let you drink so much. You see, I have a match in my mind, just for tonight... You said that you're willing to earn your reputation from scratch, right? Well, I have a unique opportunity just for you... One of my luchadores couldn't get here in time, so my main event is in jeopardy. If you would step in on short notice, I would appreciate it very much, and even pay you double!"

Texano smiles, downs another glass and rubs his hands together. He never shies away from a fight, and of course, he'll gladly take the spot! Cesar smiles too now, opening the door for the blue collar brawler. His match is next! Jefe nods to Melissa, who tries to welcome Texano with an introduction, until Famous B tears the mic off her hands and tells the 'baby girl' that he got this!

Fadf8J4.gif

"Men want to be him, and women want to be with him... he's the loooongest reigning and youngest Triple A champion in history... From Mexicali, Baja California... my man... TEEEYHAAANOOOO!!"

Texano says he's sorry for his 'manager' and gives Melissa a wink. She gets the mic and does her part of the introduction.

"And his opponent... from Beyond The Grave... he's the current IWA Caribbean champion... KIIING MUEEERTEEES!!"

WHAT!? Famous B has his eyes on the forehead and even Texano is caught by surprise! "The Man of 1000 Deaths" is here, and he shoves the camera out of his face! What a main event it promises to be!

Texano vs. King Muertes

There's no need to tell you who King Muertes is, but if you have been living under a rock, Muertes is the man who has struck fear in the heart of his opponents for decades!

It's no different here, as the former Lucha Underground champion throws down with the blue collar brawler. This is not your usual wrestling match, but a fight between two bruisers who can take ungodly amounts of punishment. Texano is a tough nut to crack though, and he hits back hard! He strikes Muertes in the gut with a knee, runs up for a stiff lariat, but ends up on the mats after a signature Powerslam!! Muertes hits the seal with his fist and charges for the Reaper's Trident... but strikes the ring post instead!

Texano chops and punches the champion in the corner, looking for a victory. Air Raid Crash for two!! King kicks out and the believers cheer on! Famous B pours some water on his client to help him cool off, but is quickly swatted away by Muertes, who connects with a straight right to the kisser! The infamous manager comically drops on the ground as Muertes slams Texano with a Twisting Chokeslam, also for two!

Texano holds on for a few more minutes, but ultimately drops down dead after The Flatliner! King Muertes pins Texano clean and looks dead in the camera, sending a warning to anyone who will dare to get in his way.

King Muertes defeated Texano in 14:52 by pinfall with The Flatliner. [57/100]

<details><summary></summary></summary>

Texano had an in-ring performance of 65.

(+) 'Wild Brawl' match style brought the best out of Texano and Muertes.

</summary></details></details></details>

The champion mounts poor Texano and hits him in the face a few times, as the timekeeper rings the bell frantically. You need dozens of people to scratch Muertes off the cowboy, or maybe you just need someone "Mighty"... Savio Vega is here to stop the brutality!

He addresses Muertes in Spanish, and we get a yellow subtitle to get what he's talking about.

w4AKJcf.jpg

"The match is over, leave him alone, you son of a bitch! If you want to fight someone, why don't you face me like a man?? We have some unfinished business for that title, and since we're going to Puerto Rico next week, we might as well give these believers a fight they will remember for a long time! You and me, in a CARIBBEAN DEATH MATCH!"

Konnan shouts out the bravery of Savio, and King Muertes accepts the challenge, motioning a cut throat to Vega. That's all for this week, see you in Puerto Rico next Monday! Good night everybody.

TJP/Lee Moriarty vs. Davey Richards/Bu Ku Dao

The tensions from last week crept in as TJP tagged in with Moriarty who was making his debut in MLW against Richards and Bu Ku Dao. Dao wanted to get his hands on TJP but he would have none of it and always tagged in Moriarty whenever Dao was in the ring.

This sequence ultimately led to the finish as Richards hit his brainbuster on TJP. As he was taking some time to catch his breath, Bu Ku Dao tagged himself in and tried to go for the pin but TJP reversed it into a small package and got the win instead. Richards was aghast and he made some of the choicest abuses you could ever find before leaving Dao alone in the ring.

Von Erichs vs. Contra (Ikuro Kwon/Mads Krugger)

Contra was serious about dominating the company, so much so that they sent the Black Hand, Mads Krugger in this tournament. Kruger was up for it, roughing up both the Von Erichs, but toughness runs in their veins and they were upto the task hitting back with equal physicality.

Kwon went for a suicide dive through the middle ropes which took out all the three remaining members. Krugger stood up shortly and out came the black glove but………

Hammerstone comes rushing through the entrance and knocks down Krugger………

After the match, Hammerstone, having gotten the better of Krugger in their out-of-ring brawl, walks calmly towards the ring with a mic.

Contra, I have got news for you. You have run roughshod over the promotion for the past few years. You have tried screwing me every single time I took to the ring. Not anymore. You see, despite your best efforts, I am standing here as the winner of Battle Riot III and there’s nothing you could do about it.

Just like you can’t do anything about when I cash in my title shot but since I am not the ***** that Contra are, brother, I am announcing it right here.

At Fightland, Fatu, your reign comes to end. It will be the biggest fight of the year, Alexander Hammerstone vs Jacob Fatu…….book your tickets, brother, you don’t want to miss your boy Hammer whooping Contra’s big dog.

Josef Samael comes in with an expression that is a mix of anger and amusement.

Hey Hammerstone, you have just made the biggest mistake of your life. We tried warning you, we tried to make you stay away from the affairs of Contra, but it did not go into that thick-headed skull of yours. You want a date with the Monster, you got it but you know things are never easy when you barge in our space and try to meddle with us. So next week, you are going to defend that Openweight title of yours against the man who you just viciously attacked, Mads Krugger in a Street Fight!!!!"

"The Man of 1000 Deaths" made his long-awaited Azteca Underground debut last week, brutalizing the barrel-chested brawler Texano.

A remarkable feat all things considered, but the dominant fashion in which Muertes destroyed his opponent only underlines how dangerous the man announced from 'Beyond the Grave' is. While he doesn't have any woman at his side anymore, Muertes still gets the job done. Just recently he beat Richard Holliday like a drum of war to capture the IWA Caribbean title. This marks his first reign with the title under the MLW banner, but not his first title opportunity in the company.

Months before the emergence of Azteca Underground, King Muertes had a clash with Alexander Hammerstone, who has been the only man to survive Muertes' wrath so far. Muertes is always fueled by anger, and will keep a close eye on the outcome of the biggest MLW match in history. In the meantime, he will continue to bring violence and gore to the Temple of Cesar Duran. They seem to be on the same page, which is surprising, considering their storied, blood-written history from Boyle Heights days. King Muertes is being positioned as a key figure in Azteca Underground, second only to LA Park in terms of status.

Rumor has it that King Muertes is on the lookout for more victims to appease the God of Death, so Muertes will square off against the pride of Puerto Rico - Savio Vega. King Muertes is determined to unleash the purest vengeance on Savio and finish the job in a Caribbean Death Match.

Muertes looks to build a shrine of death with the bodies of the men he’s conquered. One thousand deaths are coming... next week.

Finishing Move: Elevated Wheelbarrow Facebuster

The masked mercenary Mads Krügger, known as "The Black Hand of CONTRA", could be the most devastating weapon of the multinational cabal.

This enigmatic 7-footer, which has been shrouded in obscurity, is rightfully presented as the muscle of the group. Mads is infamous for striking victims unexpectedly and with catastrophic repercussions, both backstage and in the middle of the squared circle. Mads is one of the biggest and strongest men ever seen in an MLW ring, reputedly terrorizing people from South Africa to the Baltics and everywhere in between.

The intimidation games begin the instant he enters the room, as an eerie sense washes over everyone. Krügger has been involved in a lengthy rivalry with Alexander Hammerstone, the dominant MLW Openweight champion. In many of their brawls Mads came out on top, but when it came to official matches, his record is not so great. Krügger was the last man eliminated from the Battle Riot, and now he gets one more chance to derail the momentum of the number one contender. Next week the enforcer of CONTRA will face Hammerstone in a Baklei Street Fight.

Baklei brawls are bareknuckle, anything goes illegal prize fights in the slums. Will Krügger finally stop Hammerstone from pursuing Jacob Fatu’s world title, or will "The Muscle Mountain" conquer his biggest challenge once and for all by pinning him for the 1-2-3?

Only time will tell. Until then... HAIL CONTRA!

Episode #3 - "Island of Enchantment"

Taped for El Rey Network in Puerto Rico

Aired on Week 3, September 2021

b84ZAh4.gif

"From the open road, MATT CROSS... and his opponent, from Tijuana, México... El Hijo del Demonio, BESTIA 666...

Mechawolf, you're back to jumping people from the back! Next week you're going to face Cross one on one on your home soil...

Service to others is the rent we pay for our room here on Earth... That's my former client, Big Bad Steve...

Texano, if you step in on short notice, I will pay you double... from Beyond the Grave, KING MUERTES!!

If you want to fight someone, why don't you face me like a man in a CARIBBEAN DEATH MATCH!?"

eYrYIyb.png

Cesar Duran is getting cozy in his makeshift office in Puerto Rico while eyeing someone down. As always, El Jefe has a cool drink in his hand, but has to sit on the lounger for the night, comes with the territory. This place is hotter than hell, and believers didn't even fill the stands yet, so the boss unbuttons his collar.

1XZBfms.png

"So, Aramis has failed to show up once again... Someone has stolen his passport apparently, and now he can't leave Mexico. He has had rotten luck lately, but if he misses one more show, I'll make sure he works overtime to yield some return on my investments. And also... I'll make sure that you are the top luchador prospect in Azteca Underground. Can I rely on you?"

nlFMWY9.png

Camera turns right, revealing Arez. He's staring at the empty wall instead of making eye contact with the boss. He mumbles something inaudible under his nose, and when Cesar clicks his fingers, Arez jumps to the lounger, startling the main man. "The King of Strange Style" takes the whiskey glass from a scared matchmaker and... drops an eyeball into it. What the!? Arez turns to the door, flashing his black eyes. The boss would probably 'cross himself' if he was a God-fearful man, but instead he just throws the discarded eye in the bin and looks for something stronger than bourbon.

Jefe whispers that another lunatic has to be here in a few seconds, and prepares a welcoming gift for him. The mask of Kwang!

eYrYIyb.png

Welcome to Puerto Rico, believers! Azteca Underground is not resting in one place, it spreads to new territories and brings you new and fresh matches every single week! For the second week in a row, the announce table is occupied by Konnan and Famous B.

SZchgWy.jpgt7pCc0q.jpg

Konnan: What it do, this is K-Dawg alongside Famous T, and we're ready to pop the next edition of Azteca Underground, coming to your casa straight outta San Juan, la raza!

Famous B: Did you just call me Famous Tea? Do I look like Lipton to you, sir? My name is Famous B, and let me tell ya, people like me more than you!

Konnan: I have 100K Twitter followers, ese, you don't have a tenth of that!

Famous B: Pff, Twitter... You're living in the old age, mi amigo. TikTok is where it's at!

Konnan: Shut your trap or I'll tick tock your head over this table. We have a big show tonight, raza. Mil Muertes faces Savio Vega in a Death Match, and the IWA Caribbean title will be on the line... Savio will have the support of the home crowd, but Muertes ain't no joke.

Famous B: Muertes better be ready for another earthquake, cause my man Tey-hano is not leaving last week's business, oh no. Speaking of my clients, Big Bad Steve will lock up with Gringo Loco in his debut match, and I guaran-dayum-tee you he will leave a strong impression!

Konnan: Steve will bring the pain, but Loco is one tough gringo, should make for a good match. But now we will look if Matt Cross learned anything after last week's showing against Bestia 666. He's 0-2 since his return to MLW and faces a mad Mechawolf. It's time to get rowdy!

CFGpNnG.jpg

"The following lucha is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, from the open road... M-Dogg 20, MATT CROSS!!"

Cross has some fans in attendance, but most of the believers are booing. Matt's punk rock song comes to an end and his opponent steps out to death metal, wearing a gleaming metal suit and face mask. He gets more cheers because he has built himself quite a reputation roaming the Island of Enchantment.

"And his opponent... from Hormigueros, Puerto Rico... Mr. 450... MECHAWOLF!"

Singles Match

rIzWUx5.jpgg56fBDr.jpg3g470Yh.jpg

Matt Cross vs. Mechawolf

This battle is far from being a handout to Cross. Unlike last week, Matt stays inside the ring and the match starts slower, but these two need just a few minutes to go from 0 to 100!

Mechawolf is an equal to Cross when it comes to aerial threat, a point proven after a Slingshot Tornado DDT that almost got Mr. 450 a quick victory. Matt is on the ropes both literally and figuratively, but when you think that this bout is over, the underdog pulls the shoulder from the mat and mounts a comeback, fueled by the energy of Azteca Underground spectators. Handspring Cutter puts the wolf down and it's a clear sign for Cross to hit his finish. Dramatic pause, dramatic pause... Shooting Star Press in 3, 2... lights go out! The brief power outage stops Cross in his tracks.

Bestia 666 is on the steps, distracting Matt with his presence and helping Mechawolf drop Cross down with a Superplex! 450 Splash follows and that's officially three losses in a row for M-Dogg. That will leave a sour taste in his mouth!

Mechawolf defeated Matt Cross in 9:45 by pinfall with a 450 Splash. During the match Bestia 666 distracted Matt Cross. [38/100]

Meanwhile Gringo Loco is quite pissed backstage, loudly talking about how he will take Steve's trasero to school in their match, how he will humiliate and hurt him in just a few minutes. Zenshi doesn't share Gringo's mind, calmly saying that forgiveness is the virtue of the strong.

JgPQqKb.jpg7xiYnbp.jpg

Zenshi: Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.

Gringo: My brother, you are a better man than I am, but screw this 'turn the other cheek' mentality. I'm here to get some W's under my belt!

Zenshi: You may not see 'the way' yet, but the best fighter is never angry.

Zenshi leaves, and Gringo is deep in thought. Not quite the pep talk Loco expected... His match with Steve Pain is next, so Gringo gets rolling! Melissa Santos is about to call the fighters out.

"The following lucha is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, from Los Angeles, California... 'The Underrated Superstar', STEVE PAIN!"

Famous B is puzzled, did his client really snub this million-dollar mechanic gimmick designed exclusively to get him over with the working people of hellholes all over the world? Konnan says 'yes bro' as Steve rolls into the ring.

"And his opponent, from Chicago, Illinois... GRINGO LOCO!"

No jiving moves from him today, he looks focused on the match and starts it off hot! Ring the bell!

Singles Match

Steve Pain vs. Gringo Loco

Gringo and Steve were supposed to storm Azteca Underground together, but "The Base God" decided to help out Laredo and Zenshi, leaving his supposed partner high and dry.

If we can believe Famous B, Steve had missed his flight, with no chance to get to Tijuana fast enough. He did leave a strong impression on Cesar Duran though, clubbing Gringo with a wrench to cost him and his new friends a match. Now they brawl all over the ring, no lucha libre elements about this scuffle! These two can move though, pairing their size with great quickness and agility. Gringo has more tricks up his sleeve, trying moves like La Magistral and Crucifix Powerbomb to get the near falls. Pain opts to cheat , grabbing the ropes and hitting his opponent low with a Mule Kick! Then he tears the pad off the ring corner.

Pain Killer Powerbomb is teased, but Gringo reverses it into a Hurricanrana, sending Pain right into the exposed turnbuckle! Gringo uses his low center of gravity to pin "The Underrated Superstar" for three, which upsets Famous B.

Gringo Loco defeated Steve Pain in 8:28 by pinfall with a Hurricanrana. [32/100]

<details><summary></summary></summary>

Steve Pain had an in-ring performance of 31.

Gringo Loco had an in-ring performance of 31.

</summary></details></details></details>

Gringo doesn't know what to do after the match, since his ex-partner attacked him with a wrench last week. But he doesn't get much time to think, as Famous B gives him a piece of his mind from the table. Gringo ignores the barbs and leaves Pain with his 'manager'... B berates Steve for being so stubborn and ignoring his shouts, until Pain lashes back and gives B a Pain Killer Powerbomb!

Well, perhaps they are not on good terms anymore...

A pre-taped interview follows. Savio Vega is wrapped in a Puerto Rico flag and he cuts an impassioned promo about his beef with "The Man of 1000 Deaths". He's proud to be a part of Azteca Underground, even though he feels that he's not welcome here. The promo is in Spanish, so gringos are provided with handy subtitles.

"I've been in this business for 36 years, and I have seen everything there's to see. Death is one thing I'm comfortable with now, because I had so many wars that felt worse. Heck, I already fought Muertes in an Azteca Jungle Fight, and barely escaped alive! He was digging the grave for me, but thanks to the clumsy bruja who distracted Mil from fighting on, I was able to escape in one piece. Well, now bruja is no more, but I'm still alive and kicking! And I want my title back. One thing I want to thank Muertes for is beating that prick Richard Holliday for it, and accepting this match stipulation. Let the toughest SOB win!"

Vega leaves the interview chair and makes his grandiose entrance. It's a homecoming for the Puerto Rican legend. He's the icon in these parts, a well-respected veteran. He waves the flag for the believers, when King Muertes jumps him from behind and throws him into the barricades repeatedly! He chokes the patriot with the flag and shoves the cameraman out of his face.

After a few minutes they get to the ring, no intro needed. Rick Knox is the referee of this contest, another familiar face from the fallen Temple.

Savio Vega vs. King Muertes

Azteca Underground is not big enough to fit these two under one roof. The animosity between the brawlers is off the charts, and so is the Muta scale for this violent clash.

The fight panned out just as advertised by El Jefe. It was a bloody war laden with all kinds of weapons, anything you can imagine and kitchen sink to boot. Baking sheets, trash cans, kendo sticks, wooden chairs - all this was fair game in this Death Match. Muertes tackled Savio into the corner to start the bout, and unloaded a 10 Bell Salute on the prideful Boricua. The action spilled to the outside, where believers were asked to get out of the way multiple times. When Muertes tells you to get the F out of the way, you better listen. Savio is a tough nut to crack though, and he can dish out some hands too, sending Muertes tumbling down the stairs. A cable cord around the neck and a Sidewalk Slam even get Vega a near fall.

"The Man of 1000 Deaths" makes a signature sit up and catches Vega off guard with a Dagger to The Heart!

9Gku3h1.gif

The moves shakes the foundation of The Temple! Savio is gasping for air and Muertes finds a glass panel under the ring! He sets it against the ring corner and does well to avoid it after being caught with a Crescent Kick.

But eventually one stiff right hand to the jaw of 'Mr. TNT' sets the scene for a bad break. Reaper's Trident makes Vega's spine and glass shatter in a million pieces! Muertes gets one, gets two, but Savio kicks out!! Frustrated, Muertes bites Savio in the forehead. This is when Texano comes around to give Muertes a taste of his own medicine - he smacks him with a bull rope across the back and lands a Leg Lariat that almost gives Vega a victory! Texano is banned by the ref, and now Vega locks a Million Dollar Clutch on Muertes, who slowly lowers down on one knee. It looks like he will blackout, when someone looking like Kwang comes out from the back and waves to Vega.

Who in the heck? Distraction works in Muertes' favor, who uses his elbow to fight out of the clutch and drive Savio's surprised face into the mat courtesy of The Flatliner! One.. two.. three! Vega is out! "Kwang" leaves immediately after the bell.

King Muertes defeated Savio Vega in 11:38 by pinfall with a Flaltiner. During the match Texano attacked King Muertes and "Kwang" distracted Savio Vega. King Muertes makes defence number 1 of his IWA Caribbean championship. [43/100]

<details><summary></summary></summary>

(+) 'Hardcore' match style benefitted both men and helped the bout.

(-) Savio Vega and King Muertes don't seem to click and it made for an awkward bout.

King Muertes had an in-ring performance of 53.

Savio Vega had an in-ring performance of 43.

</summary></details></details></details>

Muertes smears Vega's blood over his chest and covers the fallen man with the flag. The Caribbean champion growls, then strikes the Aztec seal and on that image we go off air. Good night everybody!

Ha ha, that was the plan all along. We wanted to showcase two completely different promotions under the same umbrella. Glad you are enjoying it.

Fighter Spotlight: Von Erichs and Los Parks

<div style="padding: 15px; border: 3px solid #dc143c; margin:15px;background: #ffffff; max-width:75%;box-shadow: 0 6px 12px ";">

Hometown: Denton County, Texas, USA

Years of Experience: 9 Years

Finishing Moves: Iron Claw and Moonsault

You mess with Von Erichs - you mess with Texas. These hard working men don't surrender, never shy away from hard work, and do their talking in the ring.

Currently fighting out of Kauai, Hawaii, Marshall and Ross Von Erichs fight to enrich three generations of pro wrestling legacy built in Texas, constantly learning from the "Cosmic Cowboy" Kevin Von Erich. In the past month brothers managed to topple the Contra Unit consisting of Ikuro Kwon and Mads Krugger, also putting away their long-time rivals Team FILTHY after Kevin Ku and Dominic Garrini felt the power of The Iron Claw.

After winning the title eliminator, El Jefe can't ignore their number one contendership status. They will challenge for the MLW World Tag Team championships at Fightland, scheduled to take place on September 25th. This match should have happened much earlier, as Von Erichs never got their title rematch against Los Parks after getting screwed by special guest referee "Filthy" Tom Lawlor, then-present Salina de la Renta, and lastly LA Park Jr at

. Promocionnes Dorado used the number advantage, but even though Salina's brand has been absorbed, La Familia Real grew only stronger with Cesar's arrival.

"We've been told the paperwork is 'in process'… whatever that means, but now that we put Team Filthy in their rightful place, it's time for us to become two-time MLW World Tag Team champions," said Ross Von Erich in a recent interview.

Recent and rather tasteless comments from L.A. Park just made the blue collars train harder than ever ahead of their Philly showdown. You don't bring up tragedies in the Von Erich family without paying a price for it, even if you're the personification of death itself. Ross will have to play the role of the strategist and ensure that the hot head of Marshall stays at the right place when it matters.

Then again, maybe some hot babyface fire wouldn't be out of place in a match that promises to be a heated brawl. The challengers have to keep the eyes on the back of their heads, as El Jefe will obviously turn a blind eye to the dirty tricks of Los Parks, preferring the titles to stay with the Azteca brand.

is highly recommended to those who want to get more familiar with Ross and Marshall.

La Familia Real, or simply Los Parks, have been a major fixture in recent Azteca programming, backed by the powerful and ever-scheming Cesar Duran.

The current MLW World Tag Team titles are set to defend their dorado at Fightland, with Papa Park promising to arrange a nice sweet family reunion for the challengers. This is not the same happy-go-lucky skeleton you could have caught on TNT and TBS twenty odd years ago. "La Autentica", the original La Parka is a vicious, virtually unstoppable rudo who's swinging a chair with no regards to human life. That fact makes an encounter with "The Chairman" one most men desperately try to avoid.LA Park is timeless, but even the undead are bothered by the legacy they leave on Earth before going down to Inframundo.

For L.A. Park, that legacy is seen in the skulls of his sons - El Hijo De L.A. Park and L.A. Park Jr... The first time watcher may have trouble differentiating the three at first, but soon learns that the head of the table is a burly man who dropped the dancing habit, the oldest son is much lighter and athletic than his father, and the youngest skeleton has inherited the style and brawn of his creator. This week Los Parks will put their bones to work, as the sons will team up to take on Zenshi and Laredo Kid, while LA Park will challenge Gringo Loco after their recent altercation inside the Aztec seal marked ring.

Juniors have a score to settle after the first Azteca main event and the first trios match. Although evenly matched, Los Parks are set to prove naysayers wrong and get a clean win over popular tecnicos without any help from their papi. Someone's 0 has to go, as they say. You have to recognize L.A. Park as a heavy favorite not only against Gringo Loco, but also Von Erichs, who have roamed this Earth less than "The Man Of A Thousand Bones" spent in the squared circle.

Will the skeletons keep their death grip on the titles, or are their numbers as living champions numbered? Find out next week at Fightland!

And while you're waiting, why not give

some love?

Important news came to the MLW office from Mexico, as one of its most promising talents, Aramis, has terminated his deal with the AAA company. The request for release was granted through Dorian Roland.

Now Aramis will work for MLW, at least for the time being. The rumored reason behind the termination is a brewing conflict between the luchador and Konnan, AAA's head booker and talent relations executive. The situation has been described as similar to Octagon’s incident with Flamita, but some insiders claim that K-Dawg held down Aramis' pay.

In a brief press conference Aramis expressed the following.

"I feel like the transition to MLW will let me grow as a performer and develop a better career. I'm looking forward to bringing my absolute best to MLW fans, and hope they will appreciate my work. Thank you to the Roldan family for the opportunity. This is not the end, just a goodbye for now..."

Aramis has a multi-year agreement with Azteca, so it's in his best interest to have a good relationship with sneaky Cesar Duran. Konnan denied the opportunity to provide any comments on the situation.

Aramis made his US debut for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla in 2019 and will likely continue to work for small Mexican indies.
