The doors are closed and there is a sign above it that says “The Corral” and has a large horseshoe underneath it. There is a long line of fans outside. The group of people waiting to get in are dressed like their coming to a rodeo. Lots of hats and boots and big buckles and even bigger hair. The doors fly open and a booming voice from inside calls out, “Welcome…To the Corral… “

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Io3af9r0dj4" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen>

We come out of the opening title sequence and we are inside the Corral. I’m Peter Michaels and I’m here tonight with the man who owns this Corral, who has opened it up for thirty-two of the toughest men on the planet to come prove how tough they are. The sound of wind whistling and a tumbleweed blowing across an unmarked path. A man dressed like a stereotypical outlaw straight out of a John Wayne movie stands. Men dressed in ranchwear are loitering about drinking and smoking. Women dressed to either catch someone’s eye or from their own hard day of labor are mixed into the crowd. At the center of the bar, a dark haired man sits. His hat rests crown down on the bar. He has a large cigar in his mouth. He is puffing the cigar slowly and nursing a highball glass of whiskey.

A blonde woman slides next to him.

“You the one they call Cowboy?”

The man laughs, “Honey, we’re all cowboys here.”

The blonde flips her hair over and shoulders and laughs herself, “But you’re the one they call Cowboy right? Buck. Buck Winchester.”

“That’s me.” He says with no interest in his voice. He takes another drink from his highball glass.

“I have a message for you,” She says and he turns to look at her proper. The video has them framed center screen. The mirror behind the bar shows their reflections.

“And what message is that?” He asks her.

“There’s an outlaw comin’ for your head,” She looks at him very seriously, “You might want to ride out of here before he gets here.”

Buck takes his cigar out of his mouth and puts it out on the bartop. He finishes his whiskey and stands up. Placing his hat on his head, he pulls the brim down low over his eyes, “You see this Outlaw, you let him know I won’t be a hard man to find. I’ll be in the Corral ready.”

Music straight out of a spaghetti Western plays as Buck Winchester walks out of the saloon. He walks to the ring where referee Erin Lawrence is already standing and waiting.

Ring Announcer , “On his way to the Corral, from Dallas, Texas. He weighs 270 pounds. This is the Cowboy… BUCK WINCHESTER.”

Michaels, , “Buck Winchester already has the love of the people here and he just walked out.”

Johnson, , “The people here in the Corral are hardscrabble men and women, Peter. They know a cowboy when they see him. Buck Winchester can rope and ride with the best of them but his real talent is his ability to throw this big hands of his. At 270 pounds, he’s going to be a hard man to knock out and submit.”

A Jamican hip hop beat pounds the Corral and a big man comes walking out.

Ring Announcer , “On his way to the ring, from Montego Bay in beautiful Jamaica, weighing an even 300 pounds, he is the Rastafarian Roughhouse, Raheem Stash,”

Michaels, , “If there was ever someone to make Buck Winchester look small, Raheem Stash is that man. Just look at him.”

Johnson, , “Raheem is one of the most menacing men in this tournament. He’s got twenty-seven inch biceps, Peter. Twenty-seven inches! The man was carved out of granite and meant to be a fighter and it’s only fitting that these two men throw the first punches here in the Corral.”

Michaels, , “I think it is important for our fans to know the following information. Every match here in the Corral are contested under Bunkhouse Rules. What that means is that there are no time limits, no count outs, no disqualifications, and no pinfalls. The only way to win is to either knock your opponent out or to make the submit. These matches are not sanctioned by any athletic commissions and all men in this tournament have signed hold-harmless agreements in case they are seriously injured. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Pro Wrestling Gunpowder and the violence..is…real.”

<img alt="AY7LkUn.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/AY7LkUn.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="DQOJsTw.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/DQOJsTw.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="jzf0TYH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/jzf0TYH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

The bell rings – it’s not a traditional pro wrestling bell but rather a suped-up cowbell that is rang by a man in the corner and the first match in Pro Wrestling Gunpowder history has started. The big three hundred pound Raheem Stash flies across the ring as Buck Winchester is taking off his black Stetson and Avalanches the big cowboy. Buck is immediately coughing from the impact and Raheem throws several big meathooks into Buck’s midsection. Raheem Stash is a former GSW West Coast Champion and is no stranger to the wild brawl. Stash threw several hard elbows into Buck’s eyes and the big cowboy is already bleeding.

Buck started to fire back. Big right and left hands and Stash staggered but didn’t drop. Buck drove a big cowboy boot into Stash’s chiseled abdominal region and then hit the ropes and came back like he was looking for a Lariat, the move that has made him very popular in Pittsburgh, but the big Stash snatched him up mid-run and slammed him back into the mat with a spine rattling Spine Buster. Raheem pulled Buck to his feet and lifted him up for a Press Slam but dropped Buck throat-first on the top rope.

Buck coughed and rolled out to the dirt ground. He was coughing up a storm when Raheem leaped off of the apron and drove a knee into the middle of Buck’s back. Buck groaned in pain as Raheem pulled him up to his feet but then Buck drove his forehead into the bridge of Raheem’s nose. This caused the separation and Buck took over. They brawled around the ring and took several bumps right into the dirt. They each ate the ring post and fought back into the ring.

Buck hit two Lariats on the big man before referee Erin Lawrence checked Raheem and ruled him as knocked out.

In a bout that had terrible wrestling and non-existent crowd heat, Cowboy Buck Winchester defeated Raheem Stash in 12:19 when Raheem Stash was knocked out. This match was part of the 'Bronze Boot Tournament' tournament.

Match Rating

<img alt="AAa7N4B.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/AAa7N4B.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<img alt="NbG5IeZ.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NbG5IeZ.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

We come out of commercial break from the first match and we are back on the ring with the Ring Announcer. Outlaw by Everybody Loves an Outlaw is pumping through the audio system and the man we saw in the opening video package is standing in the tunnel that makes the ring entrance.

Ring Announcer , “On his way to the ring, from Dallas, Texas and weighing an 265 pounds, he is the Outlaw!,”

Michaels, , “We saw the Cowboy last match and now the Outlaw is here.”

Johnson, , “This man has been riding through the West collecting bodies and bounties and now he’s arrived here in the Corral. It was wild right from the beginning. They spilled to the outside very quickly and brawled around the ring. Public Enemy #1 went under the ring and pulled out several steel chairs and broke them around The Outlaw. The Outlaw ducked a big boot and hit a low blow. He took his belt off and attacked Public Enemy #1 with the rodeo buckle on it.

In the ring, The Outlaw drove Public Enemy’s head into an unprotected turnbuckle several times and then Public Enemy #1 fought through it and locked in a bear hug. He was trying to get the Outlaw to submit but the Outlaw fought out of it with the aid of his belt buckle. A big boot set up The Outlaw hitting a massive Release Powerbomb that dropped Public Enemy #1 on the back of his head. He was out and the Outlaw advanced.

In a bout that had terrible wrestling and non-existent crowd heat, Outlaw Wes Revell defeated Public Enemy #1 in 10:26 when Public Enemy #1 was knocked out. The only thing in color in the whole video is Bryan Vessey. We hear his voice, but it is a voice-over because the Bryan Vessey on the screen doesn’t move, he just stares down at his boots and a gray-scale floorboard.

“I’ve dedicated my life to this sport. I’ve broken my body for this sport.”

Clips flash in rapid-fire fashion from Vessey’s career. Still photos of his SWF and TCW runs. Videos of his Japanese career. All emphasizing the times Vessey has bled and been broken.

“I was ready to hang up the boots. To be done. To spend my days fishing and breathing fresh air. But then I heard the call.”

The sizzle reel of his highlights stops and we are back on him. Except this time he is gray-scale and there is color on the floor. We can see the faded brown of the wooden boards. We can see old red stains. The tales of blood spilt.

“I heard the call to come to the Corral. A place where only the toughest of men survive. A place where blood is spilt and bodies are broken and spirits are crushed.A place where you are not measured by how handsome your smile is or how witty your catch phrases are or how many flips you can do but a place where you have to stand in front of another man and figure out if you’re up to snuff.”

The video changes to Bryan Vessey in a horse stall putting wrestling gear on. He’s wearing his shorts and pulling his boots on. Then he’s wrapping his hands up.

“I’m the toughest professional wrestler that’s ever lived. This is my last dance. The last entry into the career of Bryan Vessey. I’ve come to the Corral and I will be the last man standing in it.”

The video package draws to a close with Bryan Vessey stepping out of the horse stall like he’s preparing for a fight.

Angle Rating

<img alt="WgbKHaY.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/WgbKHaY.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<img alt="NbG5IeZ.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/NbG5IeZ.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Coming back from the commercial break, we were face-to-face with Frantic Ali. His music was pounding through the speaker system and he was yelling around the Corral, trying to work the people up into a frenzy. He was having success.

Ring Announcer , “On his way to the ring, from

Watts in Los Angeles, California, weighing 245 pounds, FRANTIC ALI.”

Michaels, , “Frantic Ali has been building a name for himself in Southern California for the past several years and is one of most highly touted wrestlers out there. He’s known for his toughness and that’s going to matter here.”

Johnson, , “He was one of the first people I sent an offer to come to the Corral to, Peter. This guy is tougher than a two-dollar steak and meaner than a stepped-on copperhead. He is going to be very dangerous in this tournament, but so is his opponent.”

Almost if on cue, the heavy industrialized hip hop beat is replaced by a patriotic-gambling hybrid. There were all the chords and notes one would expect from a patriot but mixed with the sounds of slot machines and cards shuffling and Kip Keenan emerges from the tunnel.

Ring Announcer , “On his way to the ring, from

Las Vegas, Nevada, weighing 238 pounds, he is the True American… He is, Kip Keenan.”

Michaels, , “If you’re watching at home, you might think Kip Keenan looks out of place in the Corral. He’s clean cut. He is wearing that singlet. He looks like an Olympic wrestler and not a fighter but there are few men tougher than Kip Keenan.”

Johnson, , “He is an incredibly talented wrestler. He’s a former Nevada state wrestling champion. Frantic punished Kip Keenan for the early parts of the contest. This was the first match that didn’t go to the outside. Instead, Frantic Ali and Kip kept the fight in the ring. Ali took the chance with Kip Keenan to show that he could wrestle and he pummeled Kip with several big suplexes and locked in several surprising submission holds.

Because of the technical basis of the match, Kip Keenan was able to gain control. He is a technical marvel and he used his skills to suplex Ali several times and lock in several different submission holds – but Ali wouldn’t tap out. Not for a long time. It took Kip Keenan almost wrenching Frantic Ali’s knee from socket to get Ali to submit but he did submit.

In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and non-existent crowd heat, Kip Keenan defeated Frantic Ali in 17:07 by submission. Two men with a combined fifty years of experience were clashing here. For the first time ever, Samoan Machine and Bryan Vessey locked horns. This fight started off slow and felt more like a wrestling match. They exchanged holds and counter holds. Then punches and then back to wrestling. They didn’t do anything too fancy for the most part, everything was based off solid pro wrestling story telling. Samoan Machine seized control and did hit several big shots that had Vessey rocked and looked like he was going to pull it out, but Bryan Vessey weathered the storm and fired back with offense of his own.
