The commentary team welcome the audience once again to Monday Night Nitro, they quickly recap recent events and remind the audience of the Bash at the Beach PPV event occuring at the end of the month as well as the upcoming Supershow Finale to the WCW Worldwide tour which will occur on the same week. They don’t want to hang around though, as the next match in the best of five series between Sting & Booker T is up first, and it is a ladder match.

~~

LADDER MATCH

Bae08kr.png6JNOtIW.png

Sting vs. Booker T

Match Highlights:

~ Booker and Sting both take ladders and swing them at one another, with the former getting the first real connection going for the gut of Sting instead of the head. Sting staggers towards the ropes and Booker sends him over the ropes with a clothesline with the ladder.

~ Sting counters an attempted Axe Kick and hits the Scorpion Death Drop onto a chair, but doesn’t have the time to reset the ladder and climb it. As he goes back to Booker, he eats an upkick from Booker.

~ Both men have a ladder set up either side of each other, as they get to the top they begin trading blows. Booker takes a huge risk, nailing Sting with a Harlem Sidekick from one ladder to the other, sending both men crashing to the canvas.

~ Sting batters Booker with a couple of Stinger Splashes, before hitting him with a Piledriver from several steps up on a ladder.

~ Both men ascended the ladder, battling it out on the top step. Booker got the best of the exchange, and hit Sting with the BOOK END FROM THE TOP OF THE LADDER. Booker is at the top, but Sting topples the ladder before he gets the briefcase untied.

Match Finish:

Booker T defeated Sting when Sting brought his bat into the match, levelling Booker with it several times before he set up a ladder bridging the apron and the ringside barrier, he called for the end of the match and set Booker up for another Piledriver from the apron. He was over zealous though, and Booker countered the move, tossing Sting over his shoulders and through the ladder. He staggered up the ladder to retrieve the belt, with Sting toppling the ladder seconds too late. Booker went crashing to the ringside area whilst Sting walked over to his fallen body, contemplating taking the briefcase and whatever advantage it had before throwing it back to the unmoving Booker.

IN RING

qR0nnek.pngEtfcFfI.pngge8wkES.png

We go backstage to both members of KroniK, Brian Adams & Bryan Clark, in discussion with Johnny Ace. They want Team Canada in a match at Bash at the Beach. At first, they were looking out for a friend in Rob, but now the Canadians had made it personal between them and wanted to put an end to it. Ace said he would consider it, but that KroniK are hardly in a position to demand anything at the moment. Maybe if they built up a few more wins..

z6o3udx.png

Ace couldn’t get the sentence finished as a returning Mike Awesome stepped in to the shot. Having recently come back from injury he told the two men that he had his own score to settle with RVD and didn’t need these two getting in the way. Adams and Clark tell him that their problem is with Storm, Corino & Roode, he doesn’t need to reassociate himself with them. Awesome doesn’t answer verbally, instead he straight up headbutts Clark on the nose, before tackling Adams to the floor. The two men scramble before Awesome launches Adams onto the concrete with a Gutwrench Suplex. Awesome swiftly turns his attention to a kneeling Clark, still holding his bloodied nose in disbelief, Awesome nails him with a nasty Pumpkick to the face. He tells Ace not to worry about them needing that match, and not to worry about giving him the match he wants, he will get it his own way.

TRIPLE THREAT MATCH

8uMgTfP.pnghwuKdFH.pngxhzJZ71.pngmsAzwHe.png20NSekd.pnga0nE7BP.png

Alex Wright w/ Disco Inferno vs. AIR Styles w/ AIR Paris vs. ‘Bam Bam’ Shannon Moore w/ Bam Bam Bigelow

Match Highlights:

~ All three men trade holds and strikes, culminating in Wright dropping Styles with a picture perfect Dropkick, but Moore avoided him and levelled Wright with a Discus Lariat, however, when he turned to celebrate he ate a Pele Kick (Backflip Kick) from Styles.

~ The new look for Moore was paired with a more intense wrestling style, trading flashy moves for more hard hitting ones, but still proved to be plenty athletic when he leapfrogged Wright and hit Styles with a Hurricanrana.

~ Wright caught an attempted Springboard Forearm from Styles and hit him with the Bridging Bohm Suplex, but Moore interrupted the pinfall with a Diving Headbutt from the top rope.

~ Styles continues to wow the audience with his moves, this time kipping up to meet Wright at the top turnbuckle, lifting him into a Fireman’s Carry and hitting him with an Ushigoroshi.

Match Finish:

Shannon Moore defeated Alex Wright & AIR Styles when Moore and Styles were the last men standing and Moore hit him with the GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK and got the pinfall with his new mentor cheering him on..

IN RING

MhmeI68.pnggojW86H.png

Dustin Rhodes is out next, he gets a great reception from the crowd and makes his way to the ring before demanding that Goldberg come out and face him. He wants him to answer one simple question, why? He wants to know why he attacked him when he had nothing to gain from it. Neither did Flair. Dustin had the title, he was content just putting some pride back into it and defending it against all challengers, but now he got involved, and attacked his father as well as himself, he can’t step away from that. Flair was the man to answer the call out though, instead of Goldberg. Flair informed Rhodes that he was nowhere near a World Title shot and like he just said, he should focus on his US Title, defending it against Flair, as he is still due is rematch.

UsopKUN.png

Eric Bischoff was quick to make an appearance, reminding Flair that he was the guy at the top of the food chain, and he decided who got title shots and who didn’t. He told Flair that losing your title was final, there were no rematch clauses here, no guaranteed shots at the championship simply because you were the previous champion. However, Rhodes admits he wants to be a fighting champion, and he wants to bring some pride back to the championship. So he has a proposal for Flair, since he likes to make decisions for everyone. He offered Flair the match against Rhodes at Bash at the Beach, but if he wanted to fight for the title, Goldberg would have to be involved in the match, and his World Heavyweight Championship would have to be on the line as well, in a two out of three falls match. The first fall wins the US title, the second fall wins the World Title. Flair had until next week to give him an answer.

WCW CRUISERWEIGHT TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

TAG TEAM MATCH

5uxXNma.pngKlANq3X.pngujVb8ZA.pngBfZ7PEr.png

The Bullyweights © vs. Shane Helms & Jamie Knoble

Match Highlights:

~ Knoble and Skipper met in the centre of the ring to kick off the match, but Knobles grappling got the better of Skipper’s evasiveness, burying him into the mat with a series of brutal submissions, culminating with a body scissor assisted Dragon Sleeper that required Romeo’s intervention.

~ With both Knoble staggered on the outside, Romeo flies through the ropes with a suicide dive, before Helms looks to go for his own move, but Skipper cuts him off and launches him over the top rope with an Overhead Belly to Belly Suplex. Skipper then hits a Springboard Double Moonsault on all three men.

~ Both Romeo and Helms got caught on the top rope, when Knoble met Romeo at the turnbuckle before hitting him with a Fireman’s Carry Gutbuster. Meanwhile, Skipper did a handspring into a Frankensteiner on Helms from the top rope.

~ Helms goes on a rampage, levelling Romeo and Skipper with stiff Lariat’s, before hitting both men with Enziguris, and finally dropping them both with Shining Wizards.

Match Finish:

The Bullyweights defeated Helms & Knoble when a masked attacker blindsided Knoble at ringside, leaving Helms to get double teamed by Romeo & Skipper, hitting him with their new finishing manoeuvre, the BRUTALIZER DRIVER I, an over the shoulder Piledriver from Romeo which Skipper spikes after a somersault from the top rope.

BACKSTAGE

DhLMdsQ.png5adobzj.png

We cut backstage to see BIG POPPA PUMP storm into the locker room of Midajah, smashing through the door shoulder first and slamming the remains of it into the wall. Midajah looked terrified as she scurried into a corner, glancing at the broken lock. Scott eased his hands up and told her he just needed to know why, and then he needed her to leave the company. He would deal with Ahmed and then the others. Midajah laughed at him, saying she knew he didn’t have it in him to hurt her, because he was weak, he was always weak. Scott looked furious and inched towards her repeating his demands…

9MEoxY0.png

but before she can answer Johnson comes flying out of her closet, shoulder tackling Scott into the wall. The two begin brawling through the dressing room, smashing each other over the head with mirrors, make up boxes, a back massager, and at one point Scott begins choking Ahmed with his chain headdress. The camera cut out as Arn Anderson and backstage security rushed into the wreckage of a room and attempted to separate the two men.

SINGLES MATCH

t8ZDIl1.pngfgfEnhZ.png

Goldberg vs. Lash LeRoux

Match Highlights:

~ Goldberg surprised everyone by offering LeRoux a handshake, Lash naively fell for it though, and Goldberg twisted the arm and pulled him into a vicious Clothesline.

~ LeRoux landed a punch, but it was the worst move he could make as Goldberg finished toying with him, whipping him into the ropes before meeting him mid run with a huge Spear.

Match Finish:

Goldberg defeated Lash LeRoux when he prowled and waited for LeRoux to return to his feet only to hit him with another SPEAR and followed it up with a thumping JACKHAMMER and the easy pinfall victory. The commentators questioned Flair’s absence at Goldberg’s side in the match and whether it had anything to do with Bischoff’s proposal earlier in the show.

SINGLES MATCH

yV8XRYN.pngLIBVNGT.pngbzu0KYJ.png

Mark Jindrak w/ Jeff Jarrett vs. Chuck Palumbo

Match Highlights:

~ The two former Natural Born Thriller stablemates who never formed a tag team showed no friendliness toward one another in the opening minutes, slugging each other with hard blows and tight holds, before Palumbo powered his way into early control with a Running Powerslam.

~ Billy Kidman had joined the commentary booth for the match, discussing with Lawler the potential match between him and Jarrett, who kept mouthing off at him at ringside, but needless to say with the numbers disadvantage he made no attempt on Lawler or Kidman. He did get distracted long enough talking shit for Palumbo to level him with a Jungle Kick on the outside and a warning to keep his mouth shut. Jindrak came flying over the ropes with a Slingshot Shoulder Block moments later.

~ Palumbo locks Jindrak into the Torture Rack, but Jindrak knees his way out of it and hits Palumbo with a Swinging DDT.

~ Jindrak had Palumbo in a Fireman’s Carry position and looked to intentionally collide with the referee, Nick Patrick. Meanwhile, Jarrett slid his guitar in the ring. But when Jindrak went to swing it at Chuck, he found Kidman grasping onto the end of it. Kidman stole the Guitar from him and hit a Moonsault from the apron on to Jarrett.

Match Finish:

Chuck Palumbo defeated Mark Jindrak when Palumbo narrowly missed Mark’s KO punch and returned from the ropes with a huge JUNGLE KICK and made the quick pinfall.

POST MATCH

U4DJ6qI.png3COli5D.pngbzu0KYJ.pngyV8XRYN.pngZEWFH4r.png

As soon as the match concludes, Shane Douglas and Sean O’Haire come from nowhere to beat down Palumbo, with O;Haire hitting a big boot before Douglas mounts Chuck and begins raining down punches. Jarrett helps Jindrak to his feet and the two men help put the boots to Palumbo too.

AqNHqPm.pngV5Th8J5.png

Kidman and Lawler, however, are quick to help Chuck, with Kidman taking out several of them with a big Diving Crossbody from the top rope and Lawler smashing people with Clotheslines and stiff right hands.

fZKSJL2.png46nAOcU.pngJLtIfib.pngqykmBP6.png

The scuffle attracted more men, this time it was The Maritato Family, they sauntered down to the melee, Tommy Gun Tomko patting a lead pipe in his hand. They cleared out the ring, with Douglas and O’Haire simply making way, the others all ate big shots and Tomko went on a rampage to leave them alone with Chuck.

WcxbgnD.pngymcdx6f.png

But The Insiders saved the day, rushing the ring and scattering all four men. DDP protected Chuck, and with them scheduled to have a tag team match against The Commission tonight, Nash took to the microphone and said they might as well do it right here, right now, before warning their goons to steer clear unless they wanted an ass whooping too.

TAG TEAM MATCH

fZKSJL2.png46nAOcU.pngymcdx6f.pngWcxbgnD.png

The Commission vs. The Insiders

Match Highlights:

~ The chaos died down as the match settled into the flow of Maritato & Mamaluke doubling down on one of The Insiders until the other got the tag in and shifted the momentum. This happened twice, but Maritato found a way to get his opponent grounded and with him and Mamaluke quick tagging and double teaming, they remained in control for large portions of the match.

~ Nash got the hot tag for the final time, before the match descended into something less structured, and he began levelling everyone that came at him with big boots and clotheslines, including Tomko & Vito.

~ DDP nailed Tomko with a Diamond Cutter on the outside after the big man had attempted to Powerslam him onto the mats. Vito came at him moments later, but DDP ducked the clothesline and hit him with a Diamond Cutter too.

~ Maritato dropped Nash with an impressive Tornado DDT he calls the Arrivederci, and Mamaluke followed up with a Leg Drop from the top rope. DDP got there in time to prevent the pinfall though.

Match Finish:

The Insiders defeated The Commission when DDP caught Maritato and hit him with the Diamond Clash, allowing Nash to hit Mamaluke with the JACKKNIFE POWERBOMB for the win.

POST MATCH

FYajrXR.pngT4vTG83.pngTg62Nxc.pngb1Uy3Je.png

Big Vito and Tomko looked like they were preparing to attack after the match, but all four members of The Weeping swept out from the crowd and beat the two men down, sending them scurrying to the back along with Maritao and Mamaluke. The four men surrounded the ring whilst Vampiro pointed at both men before giving them a quick nod, and the four monsters disappeared back into the crowd. The commentators wondered if this was an accepting of the challenge The Insiders had previously laid out, or a show of mutual respect between the adversaries.

MAIN EVENT

TV TITLE TOURNAMENT FINAL

WCW TV CHAMPIONSHIP

SINGLES MATCH

GP6SF7g.png40HCKWp.png

Chavo Guerrero Jr vs. Rob Van Dam

Match Highlights:

~ Chavo played mind games with RVD early on, singing the National Anthem of Canada, and weaselling his way out of any hold RVD attempted. The former ECW champion grew frustrated and dropped Chavo with a Spinning Heel kick after sending him into the ropes.

~ Chavo locked RVD in the Lasso from El Paso submission that his Uncle taught him, but Chavo added extra spice to the move, stomping on the head of RVD several times until the referee forced Chavo to release the hold and reprimanded him.

~ RVD goes for the Rolling Thunder, but Chavo was playing possum and caught him with a Single Legged Facebreaker.

~ Chavo locks RVD in the Gory Special, yanking on the neck of his opponent. He dropped him to the mat with the Gory Bomb, but instead of going for the pinfall, he locked in an STF that RVD almost tapped out to, but just about made it to the ropes. The referee had to physically remove Chavo from the hold though and warned him about excessive holding on to his submissions.

~ RVD hit Chavo with a Monkey Flip, sending him from one corner to the other, he climbed the adjacent turnbuckle and landed a Van Terminator Missile Dropkick to the seated Chavo. RVD went to claim a chair from the ringside area, and positioned it in front of Chavo much to the dismay of the referee, but Chavo rolled from the ring as RVD attempted the move and sent him crashing into the chair alone.

~ The fight fell to the outside, with RVD hitting a Senton Bomb from the apron on to Chavo, before following up with Rolling Thunder into a Senton.

Match Finish:

Chavo Guerrero Jr defeated Rob Van Dam when he hit RVD with a Brainbuster onto the apron. He rolled RVD into the ring and went to the top rope for his own Frog Splash, but RVD got his knees up. Both men got to their feet, but Team Canada members; Storm, Corino, and Roode made their entrance, distracting both men. They attempted to enter the ring, distracting the ref whilst Mike Awesome slid into the ring and nailed RVD with the AWESOME BOMB. The Team Canada members all made a quick exit, and left Chavo to make the pinfall and get the victory, he pulled on the tights though, just to be sure he got that Title. Chavo ran off with his title, whilst the four members of Team Canada stood over RVD to end the show.

Bio: The popular DDP has been a fan favourite with the WCW fans for the last several years, having successful reigns with both the World and Tag Team titles, but is widely known for his Diamond Cutter finisher that can be landed in various innovative ways and is a certified match winner. Since the WCW was reborn, Eric Bischoff teamed DDP back with Nash and gave them the opportunity to compete for the Tag Team titles, which they ultimately won at Slamboree. Since then they have got the attention of a new force in the company, a team called The Weeping, led by Vampiro and Mortis.

He was a member of the Magnificent Seven when the WCW was reborn, alongside Luger, but the pair were ambushed by Goldberg prior to a Tag Team title match at BIG BANG. Their fortunes as a tag team have dwindled since, with Luger seeming more apathetic towards the industry these days, whilst Bagwell is out to prove himself as still worthy of being considered one of the biggest names in the company. The pair are currently heading out to tour Japan in the first WCW Worldwide tour, a further opportunity to prove themselves.

{XS}Terrestrials © vs. The HYW Express w/ Disco Inferno

Match Highlights:

~ Lodi & Lane immediately highlighted their unique approach to wrestling their opponents, with a lot of it avoiding actually wrestling with their opponents. Disco attempted to force some action but somehow found himself caught in a group hug between the Wildside Tag Team Champions.

~ Lane leapfrogged an on rushing Karagias, before hitting a Dropkick on Wright and then a Dropkick to the rear end of Karagias.

~ Wright increased the aggression levels in the game, violently putting Lodi down with a series of European Uppercuts and finishing off with a Deadlift Gutwrench Suplex.

~ Lodi hits a Hurricanrana on Wright, but Karagias kicks at his arm to prevent Lodi’s attempted Clothesline and follows up with a Jawbreaker, before Monkey Flipping Lodi into the corner. Lane, however, rushed into the ring to catch his team mate and ensure he landed safely, before eating an Enziguri from Karagias.

Match Finish:

The HYW Express defeated {XS}Terrestrials when Inferno dragged Karagias out of the way of an attempted Suicide Dive from Lane, sending him crashing into the barricade. They isolated Lodi and hit him with a Double Powerbomb before introducing their new Finisher, the CUCKOLD CROSSFACE. We cut backstage to the office of Johnny Ace, where he is mediating an appointment between Rob Van Dam and the leader of Team Canada, Lance Storm. RVD is livid at them, costing him the TV Title, and wants to put an end to this war between them, once and for all, calling Ace a coward for manipulating them into enemies in the first place. Storm calmly refuses to acknowledge what they have cost RVD and simply told him that he entered the company with an air of bravado that he and his fellow Canadian’s deem to be a classic American trait. He said the sight of him was a constant reminder of how Team Canada was constantly held back. However, he too wants to put an end to matters, and finally wants to put RVD in his place, and he will do it himself. At this point an irate Mike Awesome bursts into the office, demanding he be included in any match. Ace calms things down and makes several matches, Storm gets a US Title match against Rhodes in tonight’s main event, if he wins he will have to defend it against RVD at Bash at the Beach because he is sanctioning a Last Man Standing match between the pair. For Awesome, he offers him a tag team match against KroniK tonight, but Awesome charges out of the room in disgust, telling him he didn’t want to waste his time with them.

~ Romeo shows his power hitting Helms with a Brainbuster, before flipping him onto his belly and locking in a Guillotine Choke. Helms only breaks the hold by deadlifting Romeo and slamming him into the corner.

~ Helms goes for a Diving Crossbody, but Romeo looks to have caught him until Helms rotates the move into a Tornado DDT.

Match Highlights:

In this instance, he is stepping in for the reluctant Mike Awesome. Adams and Clark gain some early control after some miscommunication between Stasiak & Corino.

~ Keibler leaps onto the apron to confront Adams after he finished choking Stasiak on the ropes, Adams grabbed her by the neck and teased a Chokeslam, but Stasiak hit him with a Dropkick to the back that sent him tumbling over the ropes, with Keibler in hand.

~ Corino and Stasiak attempt to double team Clark, but Corino ends up inadvertently Superkicking Stasiak, which sends a bruised Keibler into a furious rage on the outside.

~ Whilst Corino & Kiebler argue at ringside, KroniK hit a Double Big Boot on Stasiak, before Clark hoists him up for a big Delayed Vertical Suplex.

Match Finish:

Corino & Stasiak drew with KroniK due to a no contest when Keibler slid a chair to Stasiak whilst Corino challenged both members of KroniK with his own chair. Adams wrestled the chair free, and he nailed Corino with it, just as Stasiak cracked Clark in the back with his.

RINGSIDE

AqNHqPm.pngV5Th8J5.png

Billy Kidman makes his way to the ring, he is joining the commentary team for the TV Championship match, but before that happens, he wanted to let Lawler know that he just finished discussing terms with Mike Enos. They will face Jarrett & Jindrak at the Bash at the Beach, and until that match, Jindrak and Jarrett are banned from the ringside area due to recent attacks and foul play. Lawler can’t wait to get his hands on Jarrett, saying he will have to let Billy do it for him shortly. First though, they have Shannon Moore as the first challenger for Chavo Guerrero Jr’s newly won Television Championship. A man Kidman knows all too well, and someone he doesn’t have anything positive to say about.

Chavo Guerrero Jr © vs. ‘Bam Bam’ Shannon Moore w/ Bam Bam Bigelow

Match Highlights:

~ Moore surprises Guerrero early by adopting more physical moves that were more suited to his current mentor, Bam Bam Bigelow. Chavo barely squirmed out of a Powerbomb attempt, but ate a big Crossbody as he bounced off the ropes.

~ Chavo and Moore fought at ringside, with Bigelow keeping a respectable distance Chavo & Kidman exchanged words, with Chavo eventually hitting Moore with a Brainbuster on to the ringside floor, mouthing off as he did it.

~ Moore hit a floored Chavo with a Springboard Diving Headbutt, before popping back to his feet for a Standing Moonsault, but Chavo rolled out of the way and trapped Moore in a Cross-Legged Inverted STF that he yanked on vigorously until Moore got a desperate hand to the ropes.

~ Moore hit Chavo with a Powerbomb into the corner, before hitting a Running Somersault Senton on the slumped Chavo, before attempting the Greetings from Asbury Park, but Chavo got a hold of the ropes and managed to slip out of it.

Match Finish:

Chavo Guerrero Jr defeated ‘Bam Bam’ Shannon Moore when he met Moore at the top rope and managed to hit him with the GORY BOMB from the top rope. He grabbed some tights in the pin attempt to ensure the three count.

SIX MAN TAG MATCH

9MEoxY0.pngZEWFH4r.pngU4DJ6qI.pngDhLMdsQ.pngV5Th8J5.pngbzu0KYJ.png

Ahmed Johnson, Jeff Jarrett & Shane Douglas vs. BIG POPPA PUMP, Billy Kidman & Chuck Palumbo

Match Highlights:

~ Everyone had scores to settle here, but the biggest was Palumbo’s with Douglas, however, Douglas did everything he could to avoid the fight, instead sending Johnson in to face him. Chuck tagged in BIG POPPA PUMP at his insistence and the two men met in the centre in a furious brawl that eventually saw Johnson backed into the heel corner where Jarrett snuck the tag and cheap shotted Scott.

~ Kidman was the surprise hot tag that cleared everyone out with Bulldogs, Dropkicks and Hurricanranas. A running Diving Crossbody saw him and Jarrett topple over the top rope.

~ Johnson tossed Palumbo across the ring with a huge Biel Throw on the big man, but Chuck rolled with it and bounced back with a pinpoint JUNGLE KICK to Johnson.

~ Jarrett went for a Diving Crossbody from the top rope on BIG POPPA PUMP, but Pump caught him, Douglas then went for one too, but PUMP CAUGHT HIM TOO. Johnson hit them with a thunderous Shoulder Tackle to send both Douglas and Jarrett sprawling on top of Scott.

Match Finish:

BIG POPPA PUMP, Kidman & Palumbo defeated Johnson, Jarrett & Douglas when Palumbo caught Douglas with the Jungle Kick and he fell straight into the arms of Scott, who hit his new finisher, the BIG POPPA PUMPHANDLE POWERBOMB for the three count.

BACKSTAGE

Bae08kr.png

Sting is backstage, alone in his locker room, he tells the audience that there was a match that he had long avoided, one that had been a part of in his past too often. He felt the time was right to step into that maelstrom once again, meet his inner demons when he dons the glove, and put Booker T down once and for all. Sting tells Booker this is no longer about who is the better man, this is a fight for survival, and at Bash at the Beach, that is exactly what he intends to do. Survive, by any means necessary. On Sunday night, they’ll meet in a Coal Miner’s Glove Match.

Sean O’Haire vs. Booker T

Match Highlights:

~ The commentators recap that announcement from Sting, as Booker T faces his warm up match with Sean O’Haire, they also announce that Palumbo will meet O’Haire at the PPV so this will also be a warm up match for Sean too. Sean takes control of this one early, after the bigger man out powers Booker and drops him with a Powerslam.

~ Both men are very reliant on their striking, specifically the deadly kicking arsenal they both possess. Booker proved the faster of the two, but O’Haire’s hit appeared to cause more damage to Booker. Accumulation paid dividends for the former World Champion, who hit a series of Sidekicks, before a Spinning Heel kick caught O’Haire mid-run.

~ O’Haire went for a Slingshot Senton Bomb, but Booker T got his knees up, he then hit the ropes and levelled Sean with an Axe Kick to the back of the head that almost got the three count.

~ O’Haire caught the Harlem Sidekick attempt, spun Booker around, blocked the Spinning Heel Kick attempt and hit Booker with a thumping Pump Kick to his chest that sent him sprawling into the corner. Sean then hit a big Running European Uppercut, before tossing Booker over his shoulder with a Overhead Belly to Belly Suplex.

Match Finish:

Booker T defeated Sean O’Haire when both ducked and avoided big kicks from their opponent, but Booker’s speed allowed him to be the first to land the second attempt, a Superkick to the jaw. Booker then hit a staggered O’Haire with the BOOK END for the win.

IN RING

WcxbgnD.pngymcdx6f.pngT4vTG83.pngFYajrXR.pngpq5oDXj.png

Mike Enos came to the ring next for a summit between the two teams set to face one another at Bash at the Beach for the WCW World Tag Team Championships. The Insiders made their entrance first and stared down The Weeping as all four of them made their way to the ring. Vampiro and Mortis entered to square up to the champions, whilst Abyss and RelliK circled the ring menacingly. Enos laid down the rules for their title match, announcing any interference would result in the offending party being stripped of their tag team status and returned to the singles roster. He also announced that a re-match clause would be added for anything other than a pinfall victory. Nash and DDP took turns telling the members of The Weeping how they had stepped up to a fight they weren’t ready for, and that there was no one else left for them to drag off. DDP got sidelined asking about Chris Kanyon, demanding answers to what they did with him, but at that point Mortis got in his face, and Enos gave Vampiro a chance to respond. He explained that at first, they felt championship gold beneath their motives, but he wanted to defeat the best, destroy the best, and the championship titles could prove a productive lure. He considered both men to be the elders of the pack here in WCW, once the alpha males of the group, they now lagged behind, and it was only a matter of time until they got picked off, one by one. Abyss and RelliK leapt to the apron, but didn’t attack, instead they held the ropes for Vampiro and Mortis to make their exit.

MAIN EVENT

WCW UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP

SINGLES MATCH

gojW86H.pngONHmeYm.png

Dustin Rhodes © vs. Lance Storm

Match Highlights:

~ Storm was without any of his Team Canada companions, instead opting to challenge Rhodes alone and take the title into his clash with RVD at the PPV. Rhodes, however, wanted to make good on his promise to bring pride back to his family name and this championship. The two men wrestled a fair match early on, with Storm and Rhodes proving equal from a technical standpoint, but Rhodes was the bigger man and began to wear Storm down, leading him to throw the first strikes, a series of chopping kicks to Rhodes calf.

~ Storm focused heavily on that leg for most of the match, attempting several submissions, an ankle lock, a single legged Boston Crab, he even stomped at the ankle and lower calf whenever Rhodes was on the floor.

~ Rhodes rallied, though limping, he pushed through the pain in a surge of adrenaline and hit Storm with consecutive running Bulldogs, before sending him over the top rope with a Clothesline, and met him on the outside with a Plancha.

~ Rhodes went for the cannonball from the apron, but Storm swept the leg on the apron and sent Rhodes sprawling, Storm followed it up with a Snap Suplex from the apron to the ringside mats.

~ After a barrage of attacks on the outside, focused entirely on the leg of Rhodes, with Storm rolling in and out of the ring to prevent the count out, Rhodes countered an attempt to throw him into the steps and sent Storm crashing down with a big Spinebuster

~ Back in the ring, both men traded big shots, but when Rhodes went to the top rope, his leg buckled and he ended up trapped, dangling helplessly. Storm hit a big Dropkick to his midsection, before torquing on the leg whilst it was trapped.

Match Finish:

Dustin Rhodes defeated Lance Storm when Storm attempted the Canadian Maple Leaf after feeling he had sufficiently damaged Rhodes leg but Rhodes rolled through, kicking Storm into the corner. Storm charged back at him, but Rhodes countered the Clothesline with a FINAL CUT. He hit a second FINAL CUT just to be sure and made a laboured cover to retain his title heading into Bash at the Beach.

POST MATCH

MhmeI68.pngt8ZDIl1.pnggojW86H.png

Rhodes didn’t get the chance to celebrate his first defence of the title as he was blindsided by Flair who rolled into the ring and chopped at the back of his injured leg. Goldberg then came from nowhere with a huge Spear to the kneeling Rhodes. Both men put the boots to their opponent for the PPV, weakening him further for the match, Flair grabbing his former United States Championship in the process, demanding Goldberg prop him up, whilst winding back to take his shot.

UsopKUN.png

Bischoff’s music hit to interrupt the assault, he took to the microphone and told Arn Anderson and his enforcers to get out here and stop this farce. He told Flair last week what the terms of his rematch would be, him, Goldberg and Dustin in a triple threat match. Both titles on the line, two out of three falls, the US title awarded to the first fall and the World Title to the second. Bischoff calmed down the crowd who the commentators agreed thought this was just a handicap match for Flair & Goldberg and an easy way for Flair to regain his title. But Bischoff seemed to disagree, he knew the terms of their business relationship, and after Flair’s actions tonight, he instead offered the chance to Dustin Rhodes or Goldberg to accept, asking if they were willing to put their title on the line to gain another, he also pointed out Goldberg’s dealings with Flair were no longer required. He didn’t get the chance to say anything else though…

MhmeI68.png

Flair levelled Goldberg with the US Title belt, dropped him to the mat before nailing him once again. He grabbed the microphone, and told Bischoff not to bother offering it to anyone else. He accepted the challenge. The main event was set. Rhodes stirred behind him and ate a title shot too. Flair posed with the title as the show went off the air, with Bischoff not looking displeased at how this had gone down.

~ Finally, Tully Blanchard reveals that details on the next venture of WCW Worldwide will come in the next few weeks, but he can confirm that the tour will be held in Mexico.

</div>

*Apologies to DHK1989 who chose two wrestlers to feature prominantly in this tour that did not come to fruition, mostly due to an oversight on my part on how long some guys take to arrive, and also due to Ultimo Dragon breaking his arm. They will be involved more in the future, be it Worldwide or Nitro, we will have to see.

Thanks for the predictions so far! Apologies for the delayed show. Had my stag do last Saturday, and I only started feeling human a couple of days ago. Not sure if that means it was a good night or whether i’m too old for prolonged periods of drinking, but, I will have the show up by the end of the weekend. Updates will probably slow down for next couple of weeks whilst I get married though, so bare with! Cheers.

The commentary team welcomes the audience to the show and what is promised to be a night full of high impact, and entertaining action. They recap the card, highlighting the titles that will be defended as well as bringing up the key grudge matches scheduled to take place. Up first, we have the fourth match in the best of five series between Sting and Booker T.

[59]

~~

VIDEO PACKAGE

Bae08kr.png6JNOtIW.png

We see a highlight package of the feud between these two men intermingled with backstage promos from both of them. We see brief highlights of how the feud bega, with both men attempting to challenge for the World Championship but ultimately getting in each other's way. In Sting’s case, sometimes on purpose. Bishchoff made the series to help both men settle the score, Sting needs the victory to level the series, whilst a win for Booker T would put an end to their feud. Booker wants to finally settle the score and prove himself the better man. Sting isn’t concerned about winning, he just wants to leave his mark on Booker.

COAL MINER'S GLOVE MATCH

Bae08kr.png6JNOtIW.png

Sting vs. Booker T

Match Highlights:

~ Both men set up tables at ringside, both seemingly willing to go to whatever lengths to win the match. Booker sent Sting through one of them with a Book End, but was too exhausted to get back and claim the glove. That moment saw a shift in momentum in the match though.

~ Booker looked to have the match won when he floored Sting with back to back Harlem Sidekicks. He got the glove on, but hesitated when Sting finally staggered to his feet. Instead dropping him with a clothesline before dropping the glove to the mat. He went to leave the ring, shaking his head and telling the crowd he wasn’t out here to end a mans career.

Match Finish:

Sting defeated Booker T after he quickly picked the Coal Miner's Glove up, and nailed Booker in the back of the head, sending him crashing from the apron and through the table at ringside.

[21*]

*I really cocked this match up - got penalties for repeated match up and a warning for the match type being against the product, but felt I’d already committed to it storyline wise, did not anticipate it being this poor!

~~

POST MATCH

Bae08kr.png

Sting celebrated by standing over his fallen opponent, the satisfaction in his face shifting as the referee began calling for medical assistance. Sting seemed torn between revelling in the moment, and being concerned for a man he fought alongside not too long ago. He clutched the Miner’s glove to his chest, and watched as the medical team began strapping Booker into a stretcher. Sting slowly backed up the ramp, with the crowd unsure whether to cheer for him or not.

The HYW Express © w/ Disco Inferno vs. The Commission vs. Los Pollos Hermanos vs. Bam Bam Bigelow & ‘Bam Bam’ Shannon Moore

Match Highlights:

~ Bigelow hit both members of The Commission with a Double Chokeslam before diving through the ropes into the remaining participants of the match.

~ Moore hit Wright with the GREETINGS FROM ASBURY PARK, but Inferno dragged Moore from the ring by his foot to intercept the pinfall.

Match Finish:

The HYW Express won the match when Super Crazy hit two of three Moonsaults, known as the TRIFECTA on Karagias, but Wright caught him on the third attempt and hit him with the BRIDGING BOHM SUPLEX, dragging Evan over him for the pinfall.

VIDEO PACKAGE

3COli5D.pngbzu0KYJ.pngU4DJ6qI.png

We cut to our next highlight package recapping the feud between former World Tag Team Champions, Sean O’Haire & Chuck Palumbo. Both men, as the Natural Born Thrillers, dominated the tag team division, but Shange Douglas became involved, promising to elevate them to the next level, this led to a series of questionable career moves for the team. Palumbo was hesitant, but it soon became clear that O’Haire was more in line with Douglas than he was with Palumbo. They lost the titles, and soon Palumbo found himself viciously booted from the partnership. Palumbo wants Douglas, but first he has to go through his former tag team partner, and former friend, Sean O’Haire.

O’Haire took full advantage, hitting him with the RIDGE HAND LARIAT, and sending him colliding into the fans.

Match Finish:

Sean O’Haire defeated Chuck Palumbo when Douglas distracted the referee and allowed O'Haire to low blow his way out of Palumbo’s PADLOCK BOSTON CRAB, and quickly hitting him with the CRUEL INTENTIONS [inverted Death Valley Driver] for the pinfall.

Jeff Jarrett & Mark Jindrak vs. Jerry Lawler & Billy Kidman

Match Highlights:

~ Jindrak and Jarrett immediately isolated Lawler, focusing on injuring the commentator's neck whilst Kidman did everything he could to get into the match and aid him. Match Finish:

Jarrett & Jindrak defeated Lawler & Kidman after Jarrett nailed Kidman with the ACOUSTIC EQUALISER at ringside, allowing Jindrak and Lawler to fight it out in the ring. Our next highlight package recaps the feud between Team Canada and Rob Van Dam. The beef first started when Rob Van Dam and his team, at the time representing Johnny Ace in the Commissioner War, defeated Team Canada in the finals, mostly thanks to RVD’s inability to know when he was beaten. Whilst RVD initially wanted to settle the score with Ace, who betrayed RVD and his team following the win, Team Canada and Lance Storm became a constant thorn in his side. Ace used the frustration from Storm to his advantage and the Canadian eventually cost RVD in the TV Title Tournament. After several weeks of battling, both men requested the Last Man Standing match, the ultimate test to prove who the better man was, with Storm banning any of his Team Canada compatriots from getting involved.

LAST MAN STANDING MATCH

ONHmeYm.png40HCKWp.png

Lance Storm vs. Rob Van Dam

Match Highlights:

~ Both men had contrasting styles throughout, with Storm primarily aiming to injure his opponent's leg to the point where he couldn’t stand, whilst RVD wanted to simply beat the piss out of Storm, with any and all weapons who could get his hands on. This culminated in Storm utilising one of the Singapore Canes in a brutally modified Single Leg Maple Leaf Boston Crab that had RVD tapping to no avail. He did eventually fight to his feet though his pride was wounded.

~ RVD utilised the weapons himself to perfection, landing a perfectly timed Van Daminator to Storm whilst he was on the top rope, a move that saw Storm fall through a table at ringside.

Match Finish:

Rob Van Dam defeated Lance Storm when the fight took both men, and the referee, out into the crowd and eventually, up to the stage, where RVD hit the FIVE STAR FROG SPLASH from the top of the stage, sending him and Storm through a series of tables. RVD somehow got to his feet at the count of nine and secured the victory, albeit at the expense of his own health.

We see a hype package for the BIG POPPA PUMP vs Johnson match, that is primarily made up of interview and promo excerpts from both men and Midajah, with Ric Flair being shown as the man to have hired Johnson to keep her safe. Johnson believes he is being used as a distraction for Scott, to keep his attention on Midajah instead of Flair, but he was hired to do a job and if that means putting an end to the former Steiner Brother, then that is what he will do. BIG POPPA PUMP on the other hand, will do whatever it takes to right the wrong that Midajah made when she betrayed him in the war against his brother, Rick, and see her out of the company and his life for good.

Ahmed Johnson w/ Midajah vs. BIG POPPA PUMP

Match Highlights:

~ Both men have a wild brawl around the ringside area, Johnson doing his best to shield Midajah, whilst also using her to his advantage whenever Scott gets distracted by her. He attempted a huge Biel Throw into the crowd and chairs, a move he hit Scott with several weeks ago, but Scott shoved Midajah into the fray and laid them both out with a Leaping Double Lariat.

~ Johnson had a reign of control after hitting several powerful moves, but Midajah kept at him to make sure Scott didn’t get back up. Johnson eventually landed the PEARL RIVER PLUNGE POWERBOMB on Scott, but instead of making the pin, Midajah slid in a chair, demanding he take Scott out for good. Johnson kicked the chair away in frustration, yelling at Midajah to stay out of it.

Match Finish:

BIG POPPA PUMP defeated Ahmed Johnson when Midajah nailed Johnson in the back of the head with a chair out of frustration, and Scott nailed him with the BIG POPPA PUMPHANDLE POWERBOMB for the pinfall.

Steve Corino vs. Brian Adams vs. Shawn Stasiak w/ Stacey Keibler

~ Stasiak went straight for Corino with a point to prove, but Adams utilised the distraction to get the best of both men. Tossing Corino on to both Stasiak and Keibler with a Gorilla Press Slam.

~ Keibler argued with Corino at ringside, ultimately leading to Corino giving her a Superkick. Whilst they had each other's attention, Stasiak hit Adams with the PERFECT PLANT [Death Valley Driver], but Adams somehow kicked out.

Match Finish:

Steve Corino defeated Adams & Stasiak when he alluded to a truce with Stasiak and both men took Adams out with a Double Powerbomb onto the ringside mats. Stasiak looked to turn on Corino quickly but got levelled by a low blow from Keibler, leaving Corino to hit him with THE OLD SCHOOL EXPULSION and roll him into the ring for the win.

The Insiders © vs. The Weeping [Vampiro & Mortis]

Match Highlights:

~ DDP and Mortis have an extended brawl throughout the arena whilst Nash and Vampiro meet in the ring. DDP seemed focused on taking the mask off of Mortis whenever he gained the upper hand. Unfortunately for him, the beastly masked warrior avoided each attempt and eventually slammed DDP into the concrete with a Vertical Suplex from an elevated stage area.

~ Nash hit both men with a series of big impact moves, culminating with him hitting Mortis with a Sidewalk Slam, and then Vampiro with a Chokeslam on Mortis.

Match Finish:

The Weeping defeated The Insiders when Vampiro caught Nash with a Jumping Side Kick from the apron on the outside, allowing both men to zone in on an injured DDP. The circled their prey, with Mortis landing a Pumpkick to the face, before Vampiro hit the NAIL IN THE COFFIN and get the pinfall, winning them the WCW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Before our main event we are given an extended highlights package, with some excerpts from interviews with not only the combatants, but Dusty Rhodes, Eric Bischoff, and Tony Schiavone all discussing the impact that the partnership between Goldberg & Ric Flair has had on the early days of the new WCW. We see a recap of their alliance formation and how they both gained gold via it. We then see the fall and rise of Dustin Rhodes, the failures that led to his father being forced into a non-competitive role in the company, before he would earn his shot at Flair’s US Title and eventually secure it. We then see the collapse of the alliance, with Flair’s demands, one eye over his shoulder for a rampaging BIG POPPA PUMP and all the others he betrayed, whilst Goldberg seemingly only wanted to focus on his title. We finally see the betrayal of Flair, backstabbing Goldberg to earn himself a shot at both the US & World title in the shows main event.

TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS

TRIPLE THREAT MATCH

t8ZDIl1.pnggojW86H.pngMhmeI68.png

Goldberg © vs. Dustin Rhodes © vs. Ric Flair

Match Highlights:

~ Goldberg hit Flair with a Spear as soon as the bell rang and took him straight out of the match, huffing and puffing he told Dustin to pin the old man and get his belt. Dustin refused and the two of them came to blows.

~ The first pinfall happened when Flair hit Goldberg with the World Title, knocking him out, before Dustin hit him with a rolling Senton from the apron. Dustin rolled Goldberg into the ring, hit him with the FINAL CUT and retained his US Title.

~ An incensed Goldberg speared Rhodes through a table on the outside, which was propped against the guard rail. Before demanding Flair meet him one on one.

~ Goldberg surprised Flair with a Judo throw into an Armbar attempt, but Flair, who was busted up, managed to slip from his grasp and reverse it into a FIGURE FOUR LEG LOCK. Goldberg screamed and pounded at the mat but eventually powered his way to the ropes.

Match Finish:

Goldberg defeated Rhodes & Flair with the second pinfall when Flair went to blindside Goldberg with the belt once again but Rhodes intercepted him with a Superkick and then a Bionic Elbow, but he turned straight into a Spear and then a JACKHAMMER from Goldberg who secured the three count.

POST MATCH

MhmeI68.pngt8ZDIl1.png

Goldberg tossed Rhodes from the ring after he was awarded his belt and dragged Flair back to his feet. He hit him with a Jackhammer, before propping him up in one of the corners and grabbing a microphone. He told everyone in the audience that this was the retirement of Ric Flair, nobody crossed Goldberg, and if he wanted it, nobody would walk away from the ring and wrestle again. Flair had pushed his luck too many times, betrayed too many people, and this was his time, Goldberg would be his reckoning. It was time to end another legendary career, at this line the lights went out…

ZUDQrQK.png

Bret Hart came out to a loud ovation, with the crowd cheering, Goldberg looked gobsmacked and quickly took his title, exiting the ring to stand at the bottom of the ramp and lock eyes with Hart. The Hitman met his glare with his own as the show went off the air.

Took me a lot longer to get back into this than I planned, but getting married and the honeymoon essentially led to me writing March off for any extra curricular activites! Hoping to get back into it properly now that I have some free time back, although the next show maybe another week or so away.

Predictions leaderboard after Bash at the Beach:

KyTeran 22

DHK1989 22

ElectricX 13

Old_School_Fan 5

SHaynes23 4

Helginho 2

Dalton 2

Lord_Byron 2

We have a tie in this round, so I'm going to do a rollover, and since it has been so long it just lets me get my bearings again with what I have planned.

THE STANTON REPORT

uioQ58H.png

WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON THE WILDSIDE - JULY EDITION

The Wildside Heavyweight Championship

Since his debut at the Great American Bash, Jamie Knoble, with the assistance of Don Callis, has introduced the WCW universe to the Wildside of WCW. And whilst he has all but become a full time roster member of the WCW and has featured heavily on Nitro & Thunder, he has still defended his title and appeared on the weekly Wildside TV show. His main opponent for the title has been Kid Kash, formerly seen on WCW as Cash, and whilst he has come up short, he and his much larger lackey, Justin LaRoche have caused Knoble no end of trouble. Whilst Kash has seemingly cashed out all oppurtunities to challenge for the title, other challengers have emerged in the likes of Sonny Siaki, Michael Shane, Tony Jones and Hotstuff Hernandez.

The Church of Daniels

Little was known about 'Deacon' Christopher Daniels when he arrived on Wildside, flanked by robed assistants, but the preacher has certainly made an impact. He has carved his way through a swathe of opponents, and riled up many crowds with his evangelical seminars and his corruption of multiple fan favourites. Brother Michael and Brother Donovan were a popular tag team going by the name Forged in Steel, prior to succumbing to the persuasions of Daniels. With the Deacon in charge, and the talented duo behind him, the future looks bleak for the Wildside roster.

The Tag Team turmoil

After WCW roster members, Alex Wright & Evan Karagias, otherwise known as The HYW Express won the Wildside Tag Team Championships, the rest of the roster has become more chaotic, trying to determine the next challengers for the belts. With the chance to perform on the main stage, that fight has become rather personal and far more violent than it has in the past. The Mean Street Hooligans, Leroy Kincaide & Gary Steele, had been solidfying their shot against the former champions, whilst the aforementioned Forged in Steel were also becoming undeniable contenders. Other viable teams to keep an eye on are; The Corn-Fed Rednecks (Trevor Murdoch & Todd Sexton), Team Reckless (Paul London & Scotty Mac), and the recently formed partnership between second generation stars, David Flair & Jimmy Snuka Jr.

Television Title

With the new exposure to the product, and an expanding audience for the weekly Wildside TV episodes, the company has introduced a new Television title to mirror the one that WCW has also recently returned from retirement. As WCW did, Wildside have set out a tournament bracket, with a Champion to be crowned by the end of the month. The tournament includes: BJ Payne, Homicide, Bison Smith, Adam Pearce, Eddie Craven, Caprice Coleman, Sinn, and Shane Sewell. Recently debuted Puerto Rican star, Apolo, has been announced as an alternative for the tournament in case of injury. With no clear favourite for the tournament, it will be interesting to see which man emerges from the pile and becomes the first WCW Wildside Television champion.

Those are your key talking points heading in to August, and with much more to come with a Wildside Heavyweight title set to headline an episode of Thunder in the coming weeks, the future isn't bright, it's wild.

Until next time.
