ROH: History Rewritten. Honor Reimagined.

THE ERA OF HONOR BEGINS… in this minimalist diary. There won’t be any match write ups. It’s not that kind of thing. There won’t be many pictures either, I’m not great at those. Oh, and it won’t be historically accurate. That would require some effort and take the fun out of it. Like, for example, the logo and the belts didn’t look like that at the start. Not for a long time. But they’re pretty. And I like them. More to the point, Ring of Honor didn’t even exist in 2001… but here we are (May if you’re wondering).

This will be my attempt at showing an alternative origin of ROH, presented in bite-size chunks for your consumption. Hopefully it is of interest to anyone who enjoyed wrestling as it all went to hell around the turn of the century.

Please feel free to leave feedback, criticism and creative abuse.

The Era of Honor begins May 26 in Forked River, New Jersey with our very first show Respect Is Earned. The show will be headlined with a fantastic main event: AJ Styles vs Low Ki vs Samoa Joe as well as an appearance from international wrestling sensation ‘American Dragon’ Bryan Danielson.

Attendance: 300

Low Ki defeated AJ Styles and Samoa Joe in a Triple Threat match

Low Ki pinned Styles.

Joe had to be helped from the ring due to sustaining an ankle injury from Low Ki

Bryan Danielson defeated CM Punk

The Havana Pitbulls confronted The Briscoes after the match.

The Briscoes defeated The SAT

Jay pinned Joel

Jody Fleisch defeated Jonny Storm

Bobby Cruise came to the ring to welcome everyone to ROH’s first event.

CM Punk joined him and they were interrupted by Bryan Danielson prompting an argument.

Punk told Danielson they will settle this in the ring in their match tonight.

Jimmy Rave (w/ Prince Nana) defeated Matt Sydal

Rocky Romero (w/ Julius Smokes) defeated Jack Evans

The show opened with a pre-taped backstage video promo by Prince Nana alongside Jimmy Rave.

Nana told Matt Sydal “and all of ROH” to watch out for Rave.

Thank you. There was a lot to choose from and cost was a factor. I'm hoping to bring in more high profile names as it progresses.

Yes! Early ROH is awesome, and it's been a while since there was a popular dynasty based on it. I'll be keeping an eye on this project.

After a promising start for Ring of Honor the bad news from Respect Is Earned is Samoa Joe’s ankle injury. Joe could not leave the ring without assistance and it has been confirmed that he will miss the next show at least. There has been no comment from Joe at this time.

Best In The World is scheduled for June 23 and the main event has been announced as Low Ki vs AJ Styles. Fans are excited about this one as two of ROH’s biggest names go head to head. Elsewhere, the Havana Pitbulls provoked The Briscoes at the last show by confronting them after their match with The SAT. Rocky Romero has now laid down the challenge to Jay Briscoe for a match at Best In The World and Jay has been quick to accept.

And finally, CM Punk is said to be unhappy with his loss to Bryan Danielson. The two had a very competitive match at Respect Is Earned with Danielson edging it and Punk is said to be eager for a rematch. No comment from Bryan Danielson at this time.

Ring Of Honor returns with Best In The World at The Carrier Theater, Syracuse, NY on June 23. Tickets still available.

I can tell you from personal experience that the Carrier Theater is an excellent, excellent venue! I hope Punk vs. Danielson becomes THE feud for ROH!

Awesome. I hope the show does the place proud. I'm very big on both Punk and Danielson so whilst I am a couple of shows ahead I can't say for certain that I know what's going to happen.

AJ Styles defeated Low Ki

Rocky Romero (w/ Julius Smokes) defeated Jay Briscoe

Smokes distracted the referee for Reyes to run in and attack Jay

Bobby Cruise came to the ring and invited AJ Styles out.

Styles came to talk about his match with Low Ki but was instead interrupted by Prince Nana.

Nana told Styles that Jimmy Rave was not here tonight but that AJ has drawn Rave

for his qualifying match at Survival of the Fittest and should not bother showing up.

Then Low Ki came out and chased Nana away. Low Ki told Styles he’ll see him again soon.

Bryan Danielson defeated Mark Briscoe

CM Punk defeated Matt Sydal

CM Punk cut a promo on Bryan Danielson, saying that the better man won on the night

but that it is far from over between them. He then stated that tonight is not about

Danielson and he is focused on his match against Matt Sydal.

Ricky Reyes (w/ Julius Smokes) defeated Jody Fleisch

Roderick Strong and Jack Evans defeated The SAT

Strong submitted Jose

The show opened backstage with a pre-taped video segment by the Havana Pitbulls with Julius Smokes.

The Pitbulls told Jay Briscoe he was in for “the beating of a lifetime” by Rocky Romero.

ROH Management were said to be considering disciplinary action against the Havana Pitbulls after

Rocky Romero beat Jay Briscoe by interference. It is understood the team may have been handed a warning.

Survival Of The Fittest will be the inaugural tournament to crown the first Ring Of Honor World champion. There will be a series of qualifying matches at the show and then the winners will face off in a six man elimination main event.

Qualifying matches confirmed already are AJ Styles vs Jimmy Rave and Jay Briscoe vs Ricky Reyes. Others expected to be entered into the tournament include CM Punk, Low Ki and Bryan Danielson. No Samoa Joe though as he remains sidelined with an ankle injury.

One new face expected to be at Survival Of The Fittest is Colt Cabana, a rising young star wrestling out of Chicago, IL.

Ring Of Honor returns to The Carrier Theater in Syracuse, NY. July 28. Tickets are already sold out!
