I Figured Out the Use For Per-Show Written Contracts

Recommended Posts

It had eluded me to a certain point, then it hit me.

Japanese/touring schedule federations would need something like that. If you want to lock a guy up and you are off 2-3 weeks out of a month it is going to be super expensive (depending on how you set up finance) to hang onto them. Unless you pay them per show.

I use them from time to time. Until I started running house shows, all of my roster were paid per show, as it's cheaper. Handshake deals if I don't care if they get poached. Written if there's a storyline I really want them to finish. When I brought Damian Carvill in to be the 'long long brother' of the DeColt boys in my CGC 1997 game, I made certain to lock him down for 2 years so I could take that story to the end. It didn't need to be exclusive. He could work elsewhere. He could even miss certain shows if a bigger company wanted him. I just needed a guarantee that he'd work the blow-off.
