WWE (2022) A New Era

Recommended Posts

In the lead up to Monday Night RAW news broke of Vince McMahon's sorrid affairs and has since stepped down from his position within the WWE and retired from wrestling. WWE issued a statement for a major announcement on RAW with every member of staff urged to be attendence.

Monday Night RAW

6,507 @ Agganis Arena

- Stephanie McMahon announces it is a new Era of the WWE now that her father, Vince McMahon, has stepped down as CEO and retired from wrestling

- She understands that the WWE isn't about the McMahons its about the WWE Universe and steps have been made to ensure that the WWE is around long after the McMahons

- Stephanie says as part of the new board of WWE Directors the TV Networks have more investment and also have appointed representatives to be their General Manager of RAW and SD!

- Both USA and Fox want a General Manager that understands wrestling but also business and can delivery what they and the fans want from the brands

- Introducing the new General Manager of RAW -- CODY RHODES!

- Cody Rhodes says it made sense for him to be appointed the new General Manager of RAW

- He had experience as a Vice President, a modern wrestler with both the mind and heritage of the business. He knows exactly what and how to make RAW the #1 Brand within the WWE

- Introducing the new General Manager of Smackdown --- BRET HART!

- Bret says it is great to be back involved in wrestling and knows what's missing from the WWE - competiton and values.

- Stephanie McMahon announces the WWE Draft 2022

- Both brands will be allocated a budget and take turns to draft their new rosters

- The draft will happen in 3 weeks, the week before Summerslam

- Every member of WWE staff is eligable for the draft, but Stephanie says not everyone will drafted and sadly there will be some... "future endevours"

- She says that everyone should take this time to showcase their abilities to increase their draft stock

Dirty Dwags vs. Los Mysterios

Decent wrestling although Dominik struggled to keep up. Crowd were into it. Rey went over Dolph.

- Stephanie McMahon, Cody Rhodes and Bret Hart are in a backstage office discussing how the WWE Draft 2022 will work

- Seth Rollins bursts into the office and begins to plead with Bret Hart to be drafted to Smackdown!

- "You've gotta draft me to Smackdown, otherwise Cody will make my life a living hell!"

The Miz v Randy Orton

Crowd were super hot and totally into the good wrestling between The Miz and Orton. Orton went over after an RKO. Maryse was good at ringside.

- After the break we're backstage where a group of fans appear to be screaming and hurridly running towards The Miz with their autograph books and cameras out

- The Miz looks happy... until the group ran right by him... camera pans to show they've ran to meet Logan Paul!

- The Miz looks crestfallen before sulking off

WWE RAW Women's Title: Nikka A.S.H. vs Bianca Belair

Good heat and decent wrestling in this one. Bianca Belair really appears to be flavour of the month with the fans.

- Stephanie McMahon is in the ring now

- Stephanie talks about the MITB Main Event

- It will feature six former champions from across RAW and Smackdown the winner will get a title shot AND a 100% Iron Clad contract to a brand of their choosing

- Those competitors are... AJ Styles... Bobby Lashley... Seth Rollins... and Kevin Owens! The Smackdown competitors will be announced live on Smackdown.

Liv Morgan v Sonya Deville

Crowd were behind both wrestlers who appeared to both have a groundswell of support. Sadly the wrestling didn't match the crowd's interest. Morgan went over Deville.

- Backstage The Miz is moping and sighing and confides in Maryse

- Ever since Wrestlemania he's been a slump, it's like Logan Paul has stolen his mojo or he's been cursed or something...

- A hand slowly reaches down and picks up a familiar looking hat. It's Happy Corbin. "Almost left my hat!" He smiles and walks away.

- The Miz eyes him suspiciously

- WWE United States Champion Theory is in the ring

- He laughs off the threat of R-Truth, his opponent tonight

- Calls him an aging clown, which isn't just sad but pathetic

- Theory really seemed to work the crowd well and played off their reactions

WWE United States Title: R-Truth vs. Theory

Decent reaction from the crowd, but sub-par wrestling. Irony that R-Truth seemed to carry the match. Theory went over R-Truth with The Unproven Cutter.

- Seth Rollins is in the ring after the break

- Rollins says he'll prove his worth to Bret Hart by defeating anyone right here and now. Rollins urges someone to...

- Cody Rhode's music plays. He's not dressed to wrestle, still in suit and arm in a sling.

- Cody says he's just coming down for a ring side view

- Rollins waits in the ring as Cody sits at the announce table

- ... BOOM! FIRE PYRO. IT'S KANE

Kane vs. Seth Rollins

Crowd were fantastic and the wrestling was decent. Rollins carried the match perfectly with his weasley style and stole a win with a quick roll up.

- Rollins is laughing and points at Cody

- Rollins says bye as he knows for sure he'll be off to Smackdown

- Rollins turns around and sees Kane has been preparing to chokeslam him..! Rollins slides out of the ring in a panic

Asuka vs. Becky Lynch

Crowd were really behind Becky Lynch, even if she is still currently a heel, as she appeared to be both flavour of the month and groundswell of public support. The match was a real back and forth and finally ended in a time-limit draw after 15 minutes. A great storytelling of one upping and good wrestling. Possibly match of the night.

- Back from break and The Bloodline are making an entrance

- Heyman was good as always

- Roman Reigns though was on another level

- Reigns says that The Bloodline hold nearly all the titles in the WWE and have the power and control

- It doesn't matter who the general managers are, who the CEO is, who is on the board of directors

- They will appear as they please, go where they please, and leave as they please

- They will be recognised

- Bobby Lashley's music plays and he appears at the top of the entrance way

- Lashley says RAW is his show and he takes it what Roman said as a challenge

- Put up or shut up -- let's go tonight

- Reigns scoffs

- Reigns came across as a real star here, carrying himself well

- Cody's music plays as he now stands next to Lashley at the top of the entrance ramp

- Cody says ok let's book a match...

- ... but wait..!

- Randy Orton's music plays as he comes out to stand on opposite side of Cody

- Orton says he made a name for himself as The Legend Killer and well... there's another legend I'd like to add to that list

- He looks down to the ring and says he wants to be the one to end the longest title reign legend in WWE history

- Cody says ok ok, look you're both in the MITB match. You know what you have to do. But tonight Lashley, why don't you show me what you've got against MVP

MVP vs Bobby Lashley

Crowd were still hyped for this one. Lashley was good in the ring. Lashley went over MVP with the Hurt Lock. The Usos were at ringside mockingly watching and applauding Lashley's wrestling. They made a few feign attempts at interfering but mainly kept their distance

---

- Given recent scandles and the clear lack of momentum and direction the WWE has suffered the last few weeks, this show could have been a disaster. The matches let down the angles and this one (alongside external events) will probably have hurt them a little.

- It's clear right now that the WWE has a problem with the roster and the lack of stars it has

- They top stars right now are all part-time or special appearanes; John Cena, Roman Reigns, Edge, Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. Randy Orton is in his 40s, Bobby Lashley is 45 and Logan Paul is probably a PR Stunt that will fizzle out. Big E is months away from a return and Seth Rollins is currently floundering.

- I wouldn't be surprised to see WWE turn to Becky and Charlotte to main event occassionally

- WWE find themselves in a strange situation where for the first time in nearly 40 years they don't have a clear figurehead (Hogan, Bret, HBK, Stone Cold, The Rock, HHH, John Cena, etc.)

- Ironic that Stephanie McMahon should talk about the WWE after the McMahons as it appears that Shane McMahon quietly returned to run NXT with Joe Belcastro returning as booker

- Reports suggest Paul Heyman is causing a rift in the lockeroom against AJ Styles

- It seems Stephanie McMahon was telling some truths and there really has been a major change in the WWE Board of Directors

- This could explain the rumors of their changed hiring style trying to stay clear of anyone with a bad reputation within the business or known issues with the law

- As things stand there's been no leaks or talk about the WWE Draft

- This could be because it was a tightly controlled secret or even a complete surprise the WWE locker room

- Certainly Bret Hart's involvement wasn't expected

- It appears Jason Jordan has become a producer on NXT, along with Ken Doane

- CMLL have been openly declaring war on other promotions targetting AEW, NJPW, ROH and AAA. We're not sure where this is leading. Could be another Forbidden Door thing

- Alison Leigh seems to have joined NXT as a referee

- Raquel Rodriquez suffered a fractured cheek bone during a house show

WWE Smackdown

5,876 @ Agganis Arena

- Show starts to strong "We want Bret" chants

- Bret Hart's music screeches to a huge pop

- Bret talks about his vision for Smackdown

- Bret says he knows what the WWE needs right now... competition, a return to its roots of in-ring greatness, family values and variety

- Bret mentions his time with Stampede Wrestling where his family would bring talent in from all over the world to showcase different styles but also to improve themselves

- Bret named Shinsuke Nakamura as someone he's a big fan of

- Bret wants more of that and less... Goldbergs

- Bret appeared to soak up the crowd response

- The Bloodline's music interrupts Bret's speech

- Paul Heyman says just as they announced on RAW The Bloodline will appear as they please and leave as they please

- Again Roman Reigns carried himself like a champion

- Roman says as the Head of the Table Bret Hart should be coming to HIM for permission to draft anyone

- Roman says all it would take is for The Bloodline to walk away and the WWE would lose its biggest stars tomorrow and there would be nothing Bret or Stephanie could do to stop them

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Tommaso Ciampa

A decent match with a few fake outs that really got the crowd buzzing. Bret's backing of Shinsuke seems to have had a rub. Shinsuke over Ciampa by pinfall with a Kinshasa.

- Back from break Seth Rollins has tracked down Bret Hart

- Rollins is desperate to be drafted to SD!

- Rollins says he will prove again that he should be the #1 Draft Pick as he's Seth FREAKING Rollins

- Bret says he has an idea of who the #1 draft pick will be... and whoever comes to SD! won't have it easy they will have to work hard and prove themselves every week

- Bret says Rollins should prove himself tonight against another wrestler he thinks should have had a bigger impact in the WWE -- Crew McInture

Viking Raiders vs. Los Lotharios

SD returns from break as this match is underway. Decent affir. Vikings Raiders win

- We cut backstage where 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke is trying to avoid someone and bumps into Beth Phoenix

- Dana apologi... GLAM SLAM! 1...2...3..! Beth Phoenix is the 24/7 Champion!

WWE Intercontinental Title: Xavier Woods v Gunther

In what could have been a better match if Woods hadn't fluffed a few spots, Gunther retains the title, in what was still a decent fight. The Usos watched the match from ringside although did not interfere. After the match they appeared to be pointing at Gunther and the title.

- Natalya comes to the ring looking very proud of herself

- Natalya talks about how great it is that Bret Hart is back and how proud she is that she is a member of the Hart Family... and will get anything she wants from now on

- Back from break and Charlotte Flair's music plays and she makes her way to the ring

- Charlotte says there's only one family legacy to be proud of and that's hers, when you think of the Harts you think of dispair and... SCREWING

- Charlotte says she'll prove once again shes the greatest wrestler of her generation... the best there is... the best there was... and the best there ever will be...

Charlotte Flair vs. Aliyah

Crowd were interested in this one but were not rewarded with a good match by any means. Aliyah really struggled to keep pace of Charlotte.

- Cut backstage where Bret is talking to Natalya

- Bret says you know Neidhart would be ashamed of what you said out there, we never got anything handed to us on a plate, we fought every night to establish our reputation

- Bret says that nothing will be gifted to Natalya and if anything he'll expect more from her than anyone else, so tonight will be her only chance to win the title from Ronda while he's General Manager as a favour to her Dad

WWE Smackdown Women's Title: Natalya v Ronda Rousey

Crowd were HOT for this and the wrestling was decent, with a few near pinfalls in between the bouts of mat wrestling and submission and reversal attempts. This match would have been better with more build up and a stronger Ronda, who is coming off the back of some extremely poor form. Ronda went over with a fast roll up to retain the title.

- A video recaps the events of RAW showing the reveal of the new General Managers of RAW and SD, Stephanie McMahon's Draft announcement, Seth Rollins demanding to be drafted to SD away from Cody Rhodes, Rollins v Kane, Rollins stealing the win from Kane and nearly being chokedslammed after the match

Drew McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins

Crowd were super hot for this one and the in-ring action matched. A lot of back and forth at a good pace that was eventually interrupted by KANE's Pyros that seemed to freeze Rollins to the spot. Rollins gains the victory via DQ after Kane hits him with the Chokeslam

- Another decent attempt from WWE that seem to have thrown everything out of the window and used the events of the past couple of weeks as a reset to go in a different direction

- Just like Monday the lack of momentum is the killer here even if they are building interest in the new stories quickly

- It looks like the next few months could be really tricky for the WWE where the expectations of the TV Networks is going to match the reality that the WWE has been floundering for a decade

- The wrestling industry as a whole is probably at the lowest ebb it has been for a while, certainly after the fallout of the Vince McMahon scandal

- Interesting that Bret Hart named wrestlers he admired tonight and a hint at the style of wrestling he wants to bring to Smackdown

- Match of the Night was close but Nakamura v Ciampa just edged it over a surprisingly good Woods v Gunther for the WWE IC Title

- If we were to do a direct head-to-head on ratings it would appear SD beat AEW's Rampage 2.14 v 0.92

- So far the card for WWE's MITB looks like this:

Mens MITB (Winner gets an iron clad contract, choice of brand and a title shot against the WWE/Universal Champion)

AJ Styles, Kofi Kingston, Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Sheamus

Women's MITB (Winner gets an iron clad contract, choice of brand and a title shot against the RAW and SD Women's Champion)

Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Asuka, Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss and Liv Morgan

- A thin card on the ground due to the turmoil within the WWE now where everything has changed this week

Money in the Bank

19,580 @ TD Gardon, Boston

Pre-Show

Shyna Baszler vs. Dana Brooke

A match of power was surprisingly decent, someting seemed to really click between Baszler and Brooke probably the physical presence both wrestlers have. Baszler went over with a pin.

Los Lotharios vs. The Street Profits

Decent for a pre-show match, even if Humberto struggled to keep up with the quality of the other wrestlers. Throughout all pre-show matches the commentators did a good job of highlighting how everyone is fighting to impress and increase their draft value. They're really putting over the draft concept as the overall story wrestlers are competing outside of storylines and it's working. Ford picked up in the pinfall over Humberto.

Akira Tozawa vs. Reggie vs. Mansoor vs. Mustafa Ali

Bret Hart was at the announce table for this one and put over how he had always admired cruiserweight action. A decent pre-show match with the eventual winner Mustafa Ali appearing head and shoulders above everyone else in terms of quality.

MAIN SHOW

- A video package plays recapping the events of RAW and SD

- It highlights Stephanie McMahon announcing a new ERA for the WWE

- The newly appointed General Managers Bret Hart and Cody Rhodes

- The Bloodline going where they please and leaving when they please

- Seth Rollins begging to be drafted to Smackdown and his run ins with Kane

Women's Money in the Bank

Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Liv Morgan

The MITB bout had great heat and decent wrestling. A few key moments involved confrontations between Ripley and Morgan a hangover from the previous feud. Asuka seemed to pick up a broken wrist after Charlotte Flair botched a ladder spot move. Becky Lynch was the backbone of the match, and tried her best to keep it together even if it did drag slightly at the end. 30 minutes was perhaps too long for the pace the wrestlers went at. In the end Becky was the winner retreiving the MITB briefcase.

There's a lot of support and interest for a number of women wrestlers right now with pockets of support in the crowd for Becky Lynch, Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan.

- Becky celebrated holding the briefcase high

- Crowd loved it even if she is supposed to be a heel

- A backstage promo with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods

- Kofi is looking to repeat what both he and Big E have previously achieved and make it a NEW DAY

- The Miz makes his way to the ring

- The Miz says he is DETERMINED to regain his mojo, he's still AWESOME, he's still a superstar, the embodiment of everything the WWE has been over the last 15 years

- The Miz challenges anyone

- BRON BREAKKER THE NXT CHAMPION!! The crowd know who he is, he's really flavour of the month with them

Bron Breakker vs. The Miz

Good heat, botched moments as Bron really looked as green as he really is. Breakker wins with a Gorilla Press Powerslam. Crowd seemed to enjoy it.

- Video package recapping Lashley and Orton challenging Roman Reigns plays

- These packages are bread and butter WWE production now and are perhaps a little stale

- The camera returns back to locker room where it shows Orton watching the video package on a monitor

- Riddle says its time to warm up for their match

- Orton seems to be contemplating something

- Riddle says Yo, Bro, we good to go

- Eventually Orton leaves with Riddle

- Even with the very little Riddle had to say he seemed to struggle with it

- The Usos are in the ring

- Paul Heyman has arranged a deal with Stephanie McMahon

- Tonight The Usos will compete in single competiton against Theory and Gunther for the US and IC Titles

- In return The Usos will defend the Tag Titles at Summerslam

WWE United States Title: Jimmy Uso vs. Theory

A decent match. Jimmy Uso went over Theory after R-Truth interferred. R-Truth seemed unhappy about being called a sad clown... while dressed up as a sad clown costume... Jimmy Uso wins the WWE United States title.

- Bobby Laslhey is backstage

- Lashley says when he wins the MITB match tonight he'll go where the best competiton

- A cut to the Smackdown General Manager's Office

- Bret Hart is in there talking to Akira Tozawa

- Bret says its time to change crap like this

- Bret is refering to Akira's 'evil ninja' gimmick

- Bret says no more dated gimmicks or repackaging people

- He's interrupted

- GOLDBERG

- Goldberg says "less Goldbergs" huh

- Goldberg stares down Akira who leaves then gets in close to Bret Hart

- There's a stare down before Bret Hart turns and leaves

RK-Bro vs. Cedric and Shelton

Good heat and decent wrestling. Orton picks up the pinfall over Shelton Benjamin.

- Cody Rhodes and Bret Hart are backstage discussing The Draft

- Cody says you got any idea who might draft #1?

- Bret smiles and says he has a few ideas, there's someone with a strong family heritage and wrestling blood he'd like to draft but can't

- Bret says whatever happens he's looking forward to the competition between the two shows

- Cody agrees and says he hopes there's an open door between the two of them as General Managers despite the competition

- Bret says may the best show win

WWE Intercontinental Title: Jey Uso vs. Gunther

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Jey Uso picked up the win after a distraction and switch with Jimmy Uso. Jey Uso wins the WWE Intercontinental title. Gunther is a real ring general in the making.

- A video package plays highlighting Logan Paul's arrival in the WWE

- Snippets from press coverage and social media posts

- Fans opinions on Logan Paul

- Clips from WM and RAW

Logan Paul vs. Sami Zayn

Fantastic heat from the crowd for a match with decent wrestling. Logan Paul surprisingly good to the point that even when he missed a few spots he still seemed to recover. Logan Paul picked up the win after a botched interference from The Miz when he grabbed Sami Zayn's ankle instead of Logan Paul's.

- A backstage promo with Seth Rollins

- Rollins says he's going to win the MITB to be in charge of his own destiny

- He's not going to give Cody Rhodes the chance to make his life a living hell

- Rollins is going to Smackdown and will be the new champion

Men's MITB Match: AJ Styles vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sheamus

Fantastic Heat and good wrestling that lasted 30 minutes. Much like the womens match earlier 30 minutes was too long for the pace. Sadly AJ Styles was really off his game tonight and it appeared like a number of ladder spots were mistimed or balanced. Rollins and Sheamus carried the match. Just when it looked like Bobby Lashley was about to retrieve the MITB briefcase, Randy Orton outtanowhere cut an RKO mid up the ladder then retrieved the briefcase himself. This match felt like a real missed opportunity.

- Randy Orton clutches the briefcase to his chest

- The Bloodline appear at the entrance way with all their titles

- They're smiling at each other

- Lashley has picked himself up and attacks Orton

- The pair start to fight over the briefcase before referees and producers appear to keep an all out brawl from happening

- The Bloodline remain at the entrance way looking very entertained

- While WWE may have announced a new ERA their in-ringn style still seems very watered down

- Noticable still is the lack of spinal impact moves which really hurts some of their wrestlers

- This was a bad PPV that seemed to blow the MITB matches by making them too long leading to tired wrestlers and blown spots

- Its a shame as Orton looked good tonight as did Becky Lynch

- It appear as though the WWE is at a real crossroads between the New Era and a hangover of the previous 20 years

- It really could be worrying times ahead for the WWE if they don't establish the new brand and stars quickly

- I'd rate the top 5 stars in the WWE right now as John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch and Randy Orton

- Three of those are part-time with Cena very unlikely to return to in-ring action on a consistent basis

- Cody is pleased with RAW's contributions to MITB last night

- Cody outlines his plans for RAW and the show he envisions post-draft

- He wants people who love wrestling, and embody what being a professional wrestler is all about

- Cody names John Cena, AJ Styles and... even Seth Rollins as great examples of the kind of wrestler he wants on RAW

- Wrestlers who know what they are, strive to entertain in and out of the ring

- Cody says its time to stop force wrestlers to be something they're not and let them be who they are

- Cody wants wrestling to be fun and entertaining, as well as emotional - not factory manufactured and force fed

- Cody asks for Bron Breakker to come to the ring

- Bron's music plays to a good reaction

- Cody says that Bron had a good match last night at MITB but not a great match

- Cody says he could tell Bron was holding back and he knows why

- He asks Bron what his name is

- Bron says Bron

- Cody says no, your REAL name. Who are you?

- Bron says... Rex... REX STEINER! Great reaction from the crowd

- Cody says see! Wrestling fans are not stupid, they love this sport as much as we do, they seek to know as much as they can

- It's time RAW respected the fans, it's time RAW respected the wrestlers. It's time RAW entertained again.

- Cody says Rex has a chance to show the RAW fans who he really is. No holding back. Let the Steiner loose.

Rex Steiner vs. T-Bar

In a decent match Rex Steiner defeated T-Bar with the Steiner Recliner. An improvement to Rex's MITB against The Miz, clearly enjoy not having to hold back.

- After the break we're treated to Becky Lynch with the MITB briefcase

- Becky Lynch is a real star

- Becky says last night has proven once again she's the man and now has the pick of who she wants to fight and where she wants to fight -- and boy does she want to fight

- Does she want to fight a washed up MMA Mama or someone who is liked because she can whip her hair around

- Bianca Belair's music plays as the WWE RAW Women's Champion stands at the top of the entrance way

- Bianca says girl, you should know more than anyone I'm more than just my hair. After all... who did I beat to win this title from?

- Becky's reactions are perfection

- Becky says Bianca caught her on an off-day and got lucky

- This is easily the best segment the WWE have produced since the so-called announced 'New Era' last week

- Becky and Bianca are superstars and can easily carry the WWE if allowed to do so

- It ends with Becky holding the MITB briefcase high in the ring, while Bianca Belair holds the WWE RAW Women's Title high above her head from the entrance way

Dana Brooke vs. Tamina

... and just like that we're back down to earth with a terrible wrestling match between Brooke and Tamina. Tamina goes over after a Samoan Driver. Brooke was poor. Very poor.

- We're backstage now, Alexa Bliss is sitting alone in a darkened area

- Bliss says ever since she returned she's felt lost

- They took away her doll, they took away her friend, they took away her... soul

- She doesn't know who she is anymore

- She is lost and scared and "needs you"

- Is this a new gimmick? There were hints of different make up and what appeared to be a patched up version of previous ring gear. Hard to make out in the darkened area she was in

AJ Styles vs. Theory

Crowd enjoyed this one. The wrestling was good and this is one of the best matches Theory has had recently. Cody is right about AJ. Match ends when R-Truth music plays and distracts Theory long eonugh for Styles to hit the Pele before the Springboard 450 splash.

- R-Truth now appears at the entrance way, dressed as a sad clown still, although the make up seems worn out and the clown costume slightly damaged

- Truth says Oh don't mind me, just... CLOWN'N AROUND

- Anyway where do you get off calling people a clown when you've got a face like The Joker

- R-Truth is a blessing when allowed to do stuff like this

- Sadly exposed Theory isn't ready to hang when it comes to mic work

- We return to see the 'LoganCast' setup in the ring

- Paul Logan has a talkshow segment

- His guest is Seth Rollins

- Logan asks Rollins why he wants to go Smackdown

- Logan asks Rollins if he's a chickenshit

- Rollins' reactions are golden

- A good segment that really allowed Logan Paul and Seth Rollins to react to the crowd well

- The Miz is backstage watching the LoganCast on a monitor

- The Miz is outraged -- THAT'S MY THING. HE TOOK MY THING.

- John Cena slides into frame making a "he took your what now..." expression

- Cena says Miz, Miz, Miz... you're a lucky man, one of the luckiest I know. You've went from being a scrawny kid on a reality TV show, to a global superstar with a beautiful wife. You're living your dream!

- Miz says Logan Paul has taken everything from him

- Cena says why don't they have a match tonight for old times sake

- Not sure if WWE are hinting at a poor man's story with The Miz and trying to turn him face or something

WWE RAW Tag Title #1 Contenders Semi-Final: Dirty Dawgs vs. Los Mysterios

Good crowd for a decent wrestling match to determine who'll face The Usos at Summerslam for the RAW Tag Titles. Los Mysterios progress to the finals after Dominik picks up the pinfall on Ziggler.

- Rey and Dominik are backstage

- Rey says he's proud of the man and wrestler his son is becoming

- A short annoucement of the next WWE RAW Tag Title #1 Contenders Semi-Final

WWE RAW Tag Title #1 Contenders Semi-Final: Cedric & Shelton vs. RK-Bro

Orton came down with the MITB briefcase. A good match which ended after Orton was distracted by Bobby Lashley stealing the MITB briefcase, leaving Riddle alone to soak up the underhanded pinfall. Riddle is pissed.

- Orton and Lashley continue to brawl over the briefcase up the entrance ramp

- Eventual Lashley comes out on top and now seems to be in possession of the briefcase

- Is he the MITB winner now?

- Cody's music plays as he appears at the entrance way

- Cody says Nobody wants to see this... let's make it official. Summerslam... Bobby... Orton... MITB Briefcase... LADDER MATCH. Winner takes it home. Until then nobody is MITB winner. It's about the wrestling, people!

John Cena vs. The Miz

Crowd were really hot. Cena defeated The Miz after 19 minutes or so. Cena can still go!

- The Bloodline's music play while The Miz and Cena are still in the ring

- Heyman says "Your time is up, my time is now..." "It's the franchise, boy I'm shinin' now..." this all seems strangely familiar, John

- Here we are 15 years or so later and you're still claiming to be something you're not. I mean don't get me wrong, you were the franchise... and then Brock Lesnar came along... he was the franchise and then Roman Reigns came along

- Roman says he doesn't recognise John Cena as anything other than a washed up entertainer. It's time Cena retired and stopped embarrasing himself

- Cena says those are bold claims, how about we sort this out in the ring

- Heyman says in case Cena missed it while he was sipping his china tea there's already a long line of people who want to step in the ring with Roman Reigns... and John Cena's time is up... unless...

- Heyman whispers something to Reigns, who smiles and nods

- Reigns says yeah... that would be worthy enough. A tribute. A sacrifice. You want a chance to step in the ring with me, ok. You can hang with the Tribal Chief... if you put your career on the line. I win - you retire.

- Cena asks and if I win?

- Reigns says you won't and I'll bet the titles on it

- A much stronger RAW this week

- Star of the show was Becky and Bianca, hopefully WWE recognise this quickly

- Once again however the in-ring main event fell a little flat although it did set up a potential Cena vs Reigns match

- RAW earned around 1.92 on the TV ratings, compared to last week's 1.76

- Reports suggest that Paul Heyman conitnues to cause a rift between other members of the lockeroom and AJ Styles, this has been on on-going issue between the pair for several years

Questions for the Readers

Who do you think will win the ladder match at MITB - Bobby Lashley or Randy Orton?

Who do you think the #1 Draft Pick will be for RAW?

Will John Cena accept Roman Reigns' challenge and put his career on the line?

Is Cody Rhodes' vision for RAW the right way to go?

WWE Smackdown

5,350 @ Webster Arena

- Smackdown opens with Bret Hart in the ring

- Hart talks about how he wants Smackdown to be home to the greatest wrestlers from all over the world showcasing different styles

- It's time for the WWE to stop stockpiling all these talented wrestlers and then never using them

- He name drops Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston as examples of wrestlers that have been with the WWE for years and never really been given their dues

- Hart says that there are too many wrestlers that have wasted the best part of their careers just floating around

- He's going to build the best brand with the best talent eager to compete

- He leaves the ring

- Charlotte Flair is in the ring now

- She offers someone the opportunity to become famous by sharing the ring with her for 10 minutes

- Io Shirai from NXT's music plays

- A good reaction from the crowd

Io Shirai vs. Charlotte Flair

A good match which highlighted some pretty good chemistry between Shirai and Flair. Flair nearly had the pinfall or submission hold several times, and eventually had Shirai locked in and tapping... BUT THE BELL HAD ALREADY RANG! The 10 minutes are up. Time limit draw! Flair is furious. Flair releases the hold and argues with the referee. Despite the pain Shirai celebrates haning 10 minutes with Flair somewhat. Flair snaps and attacks Shirai.

Drew McIntyre vs. Ezekiel

In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, McIntyre went over Ezekiel after a brutal Claymore Kick. The crowd were really into this one and it appeared like both wrestlers were going all out - just two big guys hitting each other.

- After the break we're backstage with Bret Hart who appears to be moving a few wrestlers around on his draft board. Was McIntyre moved into the top 5? Hard to stop with the quick camera pan to reveal Goldberg

- Goldberg is right up towering over Hart

- Goldberg asks Is there going to be a problem between us?

- Bret Hart gives a half smile and says Nah, there's going to be no problem as I don't think you'll ever be drafted to Smackdown

- Goldberg says Your loss

- Hart laughs it off

- Camera fades as they both stare at each other

SD Tag Title #1 Contender Semi-Final Match: Viking Raiders vs. The Brutes (Butch and Ridge)

A decent match with the Viking Raiders going over The Brutes, nothing really of note other than the Viking Raiders progress to the Finals where they'll face the winners of The New Day vs. Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss

- Edge's music plays

- Edge makes his way to the ring and he looks pissed

- Edge says with all this talk of a new era and a draft he can't believe he's been forgotten about

- He says Goldberg and Cena have suddenly reappeared for a payday, he knows Lesnar will appear next, and you'll cheer them, but not once did anyone approach Edge

- Edge says he is sick of being the forgotten man of professional wrestling, he's lived through the Attitude Era, Ruthless Aggression, he ended Cena's decade of terror, he's broke his neck and damaged his brain for this company and for ungrateful fans to boo or forget about him

- Well that all ends, all your heroes, their time will come... and the only Hitman you'll remember when its all over is... ME.

- John Cena's music greets us back from the break

- He talks about Reigns' challenge at the end of RAW

- Cena says if he's going to accept he needs to get ready, and should the unthinkable happen and he loses and he has to quit he could never forgive himself if he never got the chance to wrestle a few wrestlers he's never stepped 1-on-1 into the ring with

- Cena names his wishlist of matches to prepare for Roman Reigns; Drew McIntyre, Kofi Kingston, Samoe Joe and Goldberg

- I guess this means I accept your challenge Reigns. Summerslam. John Cena's career vs. The Tribal Chief.

WWE Intercontinental Title: Gunther vs. Jey Uso

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Uso retained the title after a distraction from Jimmy Uso allowed Jey Uso to nail a superkick on Gunther.

- The cameras are following Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods backstage

- They find Cena

- Kofi says Hey John, how about we tick one of those names off your wishlist - toinght; Cena vs Kingston. Let's go all out, make it something special

- Cena shakes Kofi's hand and says Thanks Kofi, this could be the first and last time we ever do this 1-on-1

- Woods laughs, no way! Overcoming the odds is your thing right?!

- Cena somehow works in the 'Jamaican me Crazy' joke

- Much forced laughter, pats on backs as camera fades out

- Slightly awkward segment the timing seemed off between Kofi and Cena

John Cena vs. Kofi Kingston

In a bout that had fantastic heat and decent wrestling, John Cena went over Kofi with a fast roll up. The awkward segment before hand was a foreshadowing for the in-ring performance. There was just no chemistry between Cena and Kofi despite their best efforts, something didn't click and it made for an awkward bought. They tried to tell a one upmanship story, but it just fell flat, even if the crowd were totally ready to buy into it. Individual performances weren't bad, but the chain wrestling and counter spots were just awful. This is a real shame and probably a real disappointment for the WWE to watch their Main Event fail so spectacularly.

- After the match Cena and Kofi shakehands out of mutual respect

- Oh boy where do we start with this one... a very solid Smackdown, utterly destroyed by the woefol main event match of Cena vs Kofi

- Drew McIntyre and Ezekiel's big beefy slugfest was the highlight of the show and really overshadows Cena vs. Kofi in hindsight

- The build up towards the main event all made sense and was well recieved

- Goldberg and Bret Hart's encounter was intense

- Edge's seething promo really got the crowd hot too

- I bet if WWE could go back and redo this one they'd change the main event around somehow... let's just say even the pre-show matches were overall better than Cena vs. Kofi

Questions for Readers

- Who do you think the top 5 for Smackdown could be? We're sure we saw Drew McIntyre at five.

- Is Edge right to have a chip on his shoulder? Who do you think he'll be gunning for?

MONDAY Week 3, July 2022

- It would appear the WWE have signed Maki Itoh to a developmental deal

- It will be interesting to see how they gloss over her appearance at Joey Ryan's dick party

- If they can get over that somehow they might have a genuine star on their hands... but given how they've mishandled hot talent in the past I wouldn't get your hopes up

- It would seem Humberto has went back to NXT

- Io Shirai's WWE contract is due to end soon, so her appearance on Smackdown was an interesting one... especially after such a strong showing

- Shirai has been in NXT since 2018 and with everything go on (COVID, Reshuffles, Rebranding, Vince McMahon and now the 'New ERA') couldn't have joined at a worse time

- I'm pretty sure Goldberg only has 1 more appearance left on his current WWE contract unless there are different non-wrestling/wrestling agreements in place

- Talking of contracts Paige's WWE contract is due to end at some point this month too

- There are also reports that Shane Helms' name popped up on a Wellness Report recently for steroid use

WWE RAW

3,700 @ Covelli Center

- Show opens with Stephanie McMahon, Cody Rhodes and Bret Hart already in the ring

- Tonight is the last night before the 2022 WWE Draft

- Stephanie says tonight is Last Chance RAW, a night to prove yourself to the General Managers and settle any scores before the draft

- This week no WWE Superstar belongs to RAW or Smackdown, it's a free-for-all

- Bret says for a moment there I thought you were going to say Brawl-For-All

- Cody winches oof what an idea that was

- Steph shoots them a look

- Bret wishes everyone good luck

- Cody says before they go he has one more announcement... next week... live on RAW... Goldberg vs. John Cena for the first time and possibly the last time

- Bret gives Cody a disapproving look

- A real strong start to RAW with a few hints of tension between Bret and Cody or maybe just over Goldberg. Not sure.

AJ Styles, Bobbly Lashley, Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn, Sheamus, Damian Priest and Kevin Owens

In a bout, which was billed as a Draft Showcase Match, that had great heat and good wrestling AJ scores the pinfall over Damian Priest. There was plenty of storytelling in this match, mainly the relationship between Randy Orton and Bobbly Lashley as they head into Summerslam to compete for the MITB Briefcase. Some hard tags between them and at one point Bobby Lashley irish whipped Kevin Owens directly into Randy Orton's back. We haven't seen a lot of Kevin Owens since the New Era announcement, which is a shame as he was the real star of this match. Crowd loved it.

- We're backstage after the break

- Riddle demands some answers from Randy Orton about last week's tag match

- Riddle says WE OK BRAH?

- Randy says listen, kid, I'm not getting any younger and I've got a chance to face Roman Reigns after I beat Lashley at Summerslam. I've just got to focus on that for a bit, you know.

- Riddle gives a big smile. Ya brah, I gotcha!

- Robert Roode is now in the ring

- Roode says Cena you missed someone out of your unspectacular wishlist of 1-on-1s... me. I can understand your reluctance to be overshadowed by my presence and outmatched by my wrestling greatness...

- ... The Bloodline's music plays!

- Paul Heyman says Mr. Roode, I am not surprised John Cena would show you that level of disrespect. He is a hypocrite. We all saw it on Smackdown last week. He has no Hustle, No Loyalty... and clearly no Respect. He disrespected us all in that match with Kofi Kingston, and he's disrespected no one more than Roman Reigns by being so out full of ring rust yet still believing he'd be ready enough to step into the ring with Roman Reigns at Summerslam.

- Roode is nodding his head agreeing

- John Cena's music plays

- He confidentally walks towards The Bloodline still standing at the top of the entrance ramp... then walks around them to get to the ring

- Cena says If you want to do this Robert Roode, let's do this.

- Roman Reigns looked amazing during this, he carries himself as a real star, especially standing his ground as Cena tried to walk through The Bloodline

Robert Roode vs. John Cena

WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT. Great heat and good wrestling. John Cena really looked good during this one. Perhaps the shorter match duration helped, but he was explosive out there and hit some older moves we haven't seen for a while.

- As Cena celebrates, Robert Roode hits him from behind and starts to stomp on him

- Jimmy and Jey Uso slide into the ring and... stop Roode's assault?! They help Cena up

- Then hold him place as the Tribal Chief enters the ring!

- Roman Reigns walks up to the restained Cena and SLAPS HIM

- Reigns says Don't you ever disrespect me again

- The bloodline leave as Roode celebrates in the ring

- Roman Reigns really carries himself well at the moment

- Jimmy Uso not so much

WWE RAW Tag Title #1 Contenders Match: Cedric & Shelton vs. Los Mysterios

Despite the best efforts to keep Dominik Mysterio's involvement to a minimum he was still the weakest part of the match, which was largely carried by Shelton and Rey Mysterio. Rey pinned Shelton Benjamin after the 619 into a Frog Splash. Rey and Dominik Mysterio will face The Usos at Summerslam for the WWE RAW Tag Titles.

- We're back from the break and straight into the action with...

Alex Bliss vs. Rhea Ripley

Good heat and decent wrestling has been the theme of the night and it continues here. As hinted last week Alexa Bliss has changed up her make up and there are elements of her ring gear that are patched up from her previous gimmicks. Even though this was a decent match both Alexa and Rhea seemed off there game, there wasn't bad chemistry between them as such, just something off. Ripley picked up the pinfall after a brutal Riptide.

- Alexa remains in the ring after the defeat and starts to scream

- She rips at parts of her ring gear while screaming WHERE ARE YOU, WHO AM I

- Crowd loving it

- The LoganCast has been set up in the ring

- Tonight's guest is The Miz

- They briefly talk about Wrestlemania and how they first met

- Logan Paul explains that the reason he had to distance himself from The Miz was that when he heard the cheers of the fans it was infectious and he knew that being around The Miz wouldn't be good for him

- Finally The Miz breaks and claims Logan took everything from him... his moves... his gimmick... his clothes... this talkshow...

- The Miz says what's next; you're going to take my wife?!

- Logan Paul says he's not into MILFs

- Huge reaction from the crowd, The Miz flips, Mayrse is furious

- The Miz trashes the LoganCast set as Logan Paul slips out

- If the WWE are trying a double turn here then Logan Paul seems the only person around who could turn The Miz face

- We're backstage where Brock Lesnar has found Edge

- Lesnar says so you want to snap some necks... you're welcome to try

- Edge doesn't back down and says he's tired of people like Lesnar, Cena and Goldberg who have used the WWE for their own gain, dipped in and out when they've felt like it, each timed welcomed back with open arms and bigger pay cheques and freedoms. Meanwhile people like Edge have broke their body and had wrestling TAKEN AWAY from them, told they can never wrestle again, had loved ones plead with them not to return. Then when they have returned.. the crowd boo him. Fickle idiots that forget everything he has done for the WWE to entertain morons

- Strong stuff, easily one of the most powerful segments the WWE have put out in recent times. Edge was on fire, perhaps some real resentment there

Ronda Rousey and Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair

Fantastic heat and great wrestling keeps a strong RAW going. Charlotte Flair distracts Belair outside of the ring, allowing Becky Lynch to get the pinfall over Ronda Rousey.

- Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring

- He reminds everyone that this is Last Chance RAW

- Cody says Seth Rollins came to him earlier asking to face Logan Paul after last week's LoganCast

- Cody is keen to show Rollins that he doesn't hold a grudge so accepted

- Cody says he'd also like to see Edge and Lesnar settle their issues tonight before the draft so... Rollins and Edge vs. Logan Paul and Lesnar!

Seth Rollins and Edge vs. Brock Lesnar and Logan Paul

What a RAW this has been for in-ring action and hot crowds. An interested crowd really does help. Lesnar pinned Seth Rollins.

- Edge sneak attacks Lesnar and wraps a chair around Lesnar's neck

- The chair is hanging around Lesnar's neck like a collar as Lesnar tries to regain his balance with the help of the turnbuckl...

-... OMG SPEAR INTO THE CHAIR AROUND LESNAR'S NECK!

- Lesnar is down hold his neck

- RAW goes off air

- A good follow up to last week's RAW and much better than last week's Smackdown

- I guess this is open season now within the WWE after Stephanie McMahon's announcement

- The Draft next week will be interesting and I'm keen to see how they manage the titles and champions

- After last week's 'chickenshit' and this weeks 'MILF' comment, I wonder if things are changing around WWE or if Logan Paul just isn't up to code on what he can say

- Interesting that WWE acknowledged how poor Cena and Kofi Kingston's match was on Smackdown. Not sure if this WWE or Paul Heyman being Paul Heyman

WWE Smackdown

4,916 @ Cabarrus Arena

Bret talks about the Draft and the Title

- Show opens with Bret Hart

- Bret talks about the draft and how it'll work

- He explains that everyone is available in the draft except the current champions

- With all the belts on The Bloodline it's going to leave RAW and Smackdown short of titles to defend

- Bobby Lashley, Randy Orton and Becky Lynch will be top contenders in the draft as MITB holders, too

- That's why he's bringing back an old favourite of his, the kind of title that will showcase talent from all over the globe and was once the backbone of Smackdown -- The Cruiserweight title!

- Bret finishes by reminding everyone that any wrestlers left undrafted will be entered into a Last Chance Rumble to earn a contract, before sadly being released by the WWE as Free Agents

(Rating: 62)

WWE Smackdown Tag Title #1 Contender Semi-Final: Happy Corbin & Madcap Moss vs. The New Day

In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, The New Day get the in after Kofi pinned Happy Corbin with a Midnight Hour. Madcap Moss was clearly the weak lin in this one, which distracted from the great work of Kofi and Xavier Woods.

(Rating: 48)

Beth Phoenix...

- Beth Phoenix is seen backstage, sighing

- She stops near some waste bins and casually throws the 24/7 title into them

- She instantly smiles look relieved

(Rating: 53)

Reggie vs. Mustafa Ali vs. Akira Tozawa vs. Richocet

In a decent match created to showcase their cruiserweight talent, Richocet earned the pinfall after pinning Akira Tozaway with a 630 splash. Reggie looked awful out there tonight, really off his game with a few blown spots and poor coordination. Ricochet's hot new move is really over with the crowd.

(Rating: 61)

This is not you

- Bret Hart enters the locker room and approaches Akira Tozawa

- He's still in his evil ninja gear and looks frustrated

- Bret says this isn't you... this is WWE writers who don't have a clue who you are... an evil ninja... This would have been cheesy back when I wrestled

- Be who you want to be, not who they tell you to be

- Bret pats Akira on the shoulder and walks out

- Akira stands up, rips off the evil ninja costume and lays a brutal kick into one of the lockers leaving a huge dent

(Rating: 54)

Just remember I could cash-in at any time

- Becky Lynch is in the ring

- She has the MITB briefcase in her hand

- Becky puts Bianca and Ronda on notice

- Becky says I hold my future in my own hands, I have a contract that gives me the choice of RAW or Smackdown AND a titleshot against any women's champion I want

- She is the most powerful wrestler in the WWE right now, she could cash-in tonight, or on Monday, or even at Summerslam and nobody can stop her

(Rating: 78)

Seth Rollins vs. Bobby Lashley

In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, Bobby Lashley defeated Seth Rollins after Seth Rollins was too busy bad mouthing Cody Rhodes who was on commentary, allowing for an easy Spear and pin for Lashley.

(Rating: 67)

You Distracted me, Cody!

- Rollins is going wild in the ring

- and he's right up in Cody Rhodes' face before Bret Hart's music plays

- Bret says Seth, Seth, Seth! You asked for this match to prove yourself, to show me what you could bring to Smackdown

- Rollins shouts that's right

- Bret continues by saying... well... it looks to me like you're going to bring a lot of moaning and excuses and that's not what Smackdown is about

- Bret says looks to me like you might end up undrafted

(Rating: 78)

Rhea Ripley vs. Ronda Rousey

In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, Ronda Rousey defeated Rhea Ripley by Pinfall. This was a frustrating affair, even though it was a good match it could have been better. Crowd were into Rhea Ripley, but Ronda Rousey is just in a rut at the moment when it comes to looking interested in the ring. She's just not her normal explosive self.

(Rating: 55)

Suddenly Becky Lynch's music plays

- Becky is running down to the ring with the MITB Briefcase in her hand

- She slides into the ring and hands it to the referee while telling him something

- Becky takes off her jacket and looks ready to fight

- The ref is telling the ring announcer something

- The ring announcer says... LADIES and GENTLEMEN, THE REFEREE HAS ASKED ME TO INFORM YOU... THAT BECKY LYNCH... IS THE MONEY IN THE BACK WINNER... and won't be cashing in tonight

(Rating: 70)

... No Cash-In

- Becky Lynch looks very pleased with herself

- Ronda Rousey stands with the title

- Becky says you think I'm here to entertain and please all you lot, you think I'm going to cash-in tonight. You must be joking. I'll cash in when I'm ready, when I want. I might wait till I'm on RAW, defeat Bianca then cash-in on Ronda... as there's sure as hell ain't a better wrestler than me out there, not anyone else who deserves to be called a women's champion. I'M THE ONLY CHAMPION. THERE WILL BE NO OTHER!

- She takes the briefcase and kicks the mic at Ronda before leaving

(Rating: 77)

Cena talks about the slap

- John Cena's music plays

- Cena is in the ring and looks pumped

- Cena thanks Roman Reigns for the slap

- The slap woke me up, it lit that fire in me I hadn't realised had went out. Was I ring rusty? Hell yeah I was ring rusty! I know that now. I can feel the difference... and boy, do I feel different now.

- Cena looks into the camera

- You see Roman, you talk about respect and disrespect, well I live it. EVERYDAY. What I say isn't a gimmick - Hustle. Loyalty. Respect. EVERYTHING I do, I do for the WWE Universe. I Hustle everyday to improve myself, and to try and improve the lives of others through what I do in and out of the ring. I have a LOYALTY to the fans and the WWE, as they made me. Without them I would be nothing. Without their support over the last 15 years, John Cena would have just been some punk kid wondering if he could have ever made it. Now as for RESPECT. That slap showed me you don't understand what respect is. I'm out here everynight trying to regain my fitness, form and ability. What are you doing? I'll be ready for you at Summerslam. The question is will you be ready for me?

(Rating: 69)

John Cena vs. Drew McIntyre

In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, John Cena and Drew McIntyre drew after a double count out. This was a good match that deserved a real finish for the fans. This is the first time Cena and McIntyre have went 1-on-1 and the 20 minutes built up nicely with drama and crowd interactions. The idea that both men were too exhausted to climb back into the ring seemed poor in the end.

(Rating: 50)

((Overall Rating: 63))

- Not the worst Smackdown but Cena's run of poor Smackdown Main Events continues

- Star of the show AGAIN was Becky Lynch

- This is the second time Bret Hart has pushed the idea of Akira Tozawa changing his gimmick. I wonder what's going to happen there, they seemed to play up the idea that Tozawa has deadly kicks

- As we head into the 2022 Draft at RAW on Monday I'm not really sure who will draft what

- RAW classically has always had the biggest star power, while Smackdown has had the better wrestlers. I'm not sure if that is a trend that will continue although it has been hinted at already

- Interestingly Lesnar was written off TV at RAW after Edge's attack; Goldberg has 1 more appearance on his contract, which will be against Cena at RAW; Cena vs. Roman Reigns is Career vs. Title Match so as things stand there's a potential for the WWE to be without three of their biggest names post-draft.

- It looks as though Bruce Prichard, Jerry Lawler, Michael Hayes and Shane Helms have been released

El Hijo del Fantasma carried the match in terms of in-ring performance.

- This one was unexpected!

- Hayes and Fantasma look more than ready for the main roster

- Grimes seemed really off his game maybe it was the pressure of RAW and seemingly being told to just go out there and leave everything in the ring

- If Bret Hart is looking for diversity and to reignite the Cruiserweight division on Smackdown then this was a great showcase of what could be coming

(Rating: 61)

- Look at you all smiling and happy again

-

(Rating: 88)

Becky Lynch vs. Bayley

In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, Bayley defeated Becky Lynch in 20:03 when Becky Lynch pinned Bayley with a Pumphandle Slam only for the previously unconscious referee to recover and reverse the decision because Becky Lynch had been disqualified.

- Becky Lynch is fire in the ring

- Bayley still has some ring rust to shake off

- Bit of a messy one for Bayley's first match bac after injury

(Rating: 50)

Seth Rollins talks about being drafted to RAW

- Bret Hart you've made the biggest mistake of your short-lived General Manager career

- You passed on the greatest WWE Superstar in a generation!

- But that's OK, you're old, frail, and we all know what happened after Goldberg tried to kick some sense into that thick skull of yours

- Its time to focus on RAW now

- I can already sense the fans' awe at being in the presence of greatest

- Seth Rollins is the greatest there was, the greatest there is and the greatest there ever will be

- Lack of selling, sandbagging

- Cena on the other hand did as well as he could have to get anything out of this match

- Goldberg clearly pissed at being booked to lose

- I think the crowd was slightly burned out by this point too as a lot has happened tonight

(Rating: 53)

Post Match

- There's little time for John Cena to celebrate as Goldberg has already bounced by up from the AA

- ... SPEAR!!! Goldberg spears John Cena and nearly knocks him through the ropes

- Goldberg does the tongue thing

(Rating: 72)

Roman Reigns

- The Bloodline's music plays as Roman Reigns calmly walks towards the ring. Alone.

- He places the titles with the time keeper before attacking John Cena

- Reigns places Cena on the announce table and... SAMOAN DROP THROUGH THE RAW ANNOUNCE DESK

- Goldberg watches from inside the ring he seems to have a coy smile of approval on his face as he nods and walks away

(Rating: 77)

- Show ends with Roman Reigns holding the titles as he stands over the body of John Cena

(Rating: 69)

Final Rating: 69

- A decent RAW with everything going on and a host of newer talent being showcased alongside the draft

- Once again however the main event didn't seem to live up to the rest of the show

- It could be Goldberg tried to wreck this one due to taking the loss

- I also think they're trying to turn Goldberg heel, but I'm not sure that's working either

- Even Becky Lynch and Bayley's match was surprisingly poor

Following on the real-life retirement of Vince McMahon from WWE due to the latest scandals involving him making the news (although he publicly claims he's retiring because he, in effect, has basically stated that he's no spring chicken anymore), it'll be interesting to see how this diary unfolds with Stephanie now officially at the helm (and I'd also like to see what kind of involvement HHH will also have, based on his real-life hand in turning NXT into WWE's third big brand alongside Raw and Smackdown).

Thank you for the reply and interest!

Stephanie is the CEO has made the following things clear:

1. WWE must not fall below Medium size at any point - Critical

2. Wehn the time experies, WWE must not have fallen below #1 in the company rankings - Critical

3. Becky Lynch must be kept above 71 overall pop in the USA - High

4. Randy Orton must be kept above 71 overall pop in the USA - High

5. Roman Reigns must be kept above 77 overall pop in the USA - High

6. Can't hire any MMA Crossover style - Average

7. Cannot hire or extend the contract of anybody who has a Reputation of less than 60 - Average

8 - Cannot hire or extend contract of anybody who is known to regularly have problems with law enforcement agencies - Average

AI did a good job of putting across the damage control feeling I was going for!

I'm using HHH as Player Character.

I tanked WWE's momentum to 0% and Prestige down to 75%, along with setting them a $100,000,000 cash

- It seems Jeremy Borash was part of the RAW team this week

- The new RAW announce team was really good

- Alexa Bliss' segments have gained some real momentum with the crowd

- Reports suggest FOX Sports are growing concerned about the quality of RAW

- This seems harsh as overall both RAW and Smackdown have been pretty good outside the main events

- The issue the WWE has right now is that a lot of their preceived Major Stars are in their 40s or 50s and can simply no longer go

- This has been a decade in the making with the over reliance of bringing back Part-Timers to fill the void

- I've looked at the figures and while WWE's popularity seems to have dropped across the US and Canda it has gained veiwers in Mexico and India

- Again this has been a long time coming with a stagnat decade finally catching up with them off the back of Vince McMahon's scandal

- WWE's momentum was rock bottom this month, I think a lot of casual viewers switched off ater Vince McMahon

- Actually just heard Goldberg is gone from WWE. That was his last contracted appearance and refused to sign an extension

- Also an inside source has said that Riddle was vocal about Bayley being too small and should be released. Seems he's blaming her for the poor match against Becky.

- It seems either someone at WWE (either Stephanie or HHH) has been working relationships with Japanese promotions to accept workers on excursions

- This is a bold move away from the WWE's usual stance of acting as if there were no other wrestling promotions out there other than the WWE

- We reported previously that NJPW seems to have distanced themselves from any relationships with the WWE, probably on the back of Vince McMahon

- So for the WWE to be open working with AJPW, Pro Wrestling ZERO1, Pro-Wrestling NOAH and Sendai Girls' Pro Wrestling could be in relation to that

- WWE Superstars left undrafted: Kane, Madcap Moss, Ridge Holland, Shanky, T-Bar & Veer Mahaan

- I wouldn't be surprised if they were released are sent back to NXT

- Kane will probably retire or be given a producer role

- Gina Monti has joined the WWE as a referee, it's beleived she'll work in NXT for the time being

- Mike Rotunda has made a return to the WWE as a producer, reports suggest he'll be working on RAW

- Mick Foley has also returned as a producer

- It also appears as though Kurt Angle and Ultimo Dragon have returned to work on Smackdown

- Slice Boogie, Clark Conners and Billie Starkz have signed development contracts and due to report to NXT soon

- At this time its believed main roster call ups are likely for: Io Shirai (Smackdown Prospect Pick); Rex Steiner (RAW Prospect Pick);

- Summerslam is this Saturday and the card so far looks thin

- and to now be on the same show with both Bret Hart and Rey Mysterio... I now know dreams can come true

- Ali says he's proud to have been drafted on Smackdown and can already feel the change around the WWE - a sense of hope and respect

- For the Cruiserweight Division to be reinstated on Smackdown and given the respect it deserves has me excited

(Rating: 29)

Let this be a lesson

- After the match Doudrop grabs the microphone from the ring announcer

- She's going to let this one go, but less this be a lesson

- My name is Piper Niven, it has always been Piper Niven, and will always be Piper Niven. Call me Doudrop and I will knock your block off

- While the intentions are clear, Niven couldn't really hang with the crowd

- Crowd already chanting Doudrop

(Rating: 38)

John Cena talks about Summerslam

- John Cena's music plays as he makes his way to the ring

- So this is it, the last Smackdown before Summerslam and possibly my last ever Smackdown

- This is where it all started, where I made my debut as a fresh faced punk kid answering the call of Kurt Angle to show some Ruthless Aggression

- To be honest this is where it all ended too, I had no idea who I wanted to be and then one Halloween episode of Smackdown I dress as Vanilla Ice, earn a degree in Thuganomics and the rest is history

- And at the end of the day I can look back and be proud of what I've accomplished here on Smackdown and RAW

- All the fans I've entertained, both those who cheered and the ones that booed

- All the great matches I've had

- Huh... great matches. Recently they've been hard to come by and I'm starting to feel as green and nervous as that once fresh faced kid in tighty whiteys that uttered "RUTHLESSS... AGGRESSION..." to Angle

- Saturday at Summerslam might just be the final test for John Cena, if I can hang with THE BIG DOG and win then maybe there's still some fight left in me after all

- If I lose... then its over

- BUT TELL ME THIS ROMAN REIGNS; if your career was to end on Saturday at Summerslam can you hold your head high and say you are proud of what you've accomplished and how you've achieved it... no I don't think so

- You've surrounded yourself with people who will do your bidding and an overgrown parasite in Paul Heyman, who will leech away at you until you no longer remember who you really are

- I know who you are, you're Roman Reigns, a proud man that's better than how you're currently handling yourself

- That's the man I hope to face at Summerslam

- I'll see you there

(Rating: 78)

- Bret says that's impressive, it really is, but that's the past and I learned a long time ago that your past accomplishments mean very little

- The Miz scoffs at Bret Hart

- Bret says why don't you go out there tonight and prove you're still the Main Eventer you believe yourself to be

- Tonight... The Miz vs. Smackdown's #1 Draft Pick Randy Orton, show me I made a mistake drafting you so low

- You see I have this... urge flowing through me ever since the thought of ending the legend of Roman Reigns' record for holding the WWE Title came into my mind

- I haven't felt this way for a long, long time and it feels good

- Its blinkered everything else around me to the point that all I can see is the WWE Title and Roman Reigns

- So at Summerslam on Saturday, just know when I RKO you again Lashley it's nothing personal

- Its just a means to an end of Roman Reigns by the Legend Killer

Dominik Mysterio was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance.

- All three tag team pairs work well within their units

- WWE could finally have a strong tag team division on the go

- A good match that was sadly hampered by a clash of styles OUTSIDE the ring

- There's been something slightly off all night and its finally dawned on me what it is

- Pat McAfee and Nigel McGuinness do not work together at all, they really clash horribly

- Cole and McAfee work extremely well together and nailed their idle back and forth chatter

- Sadly McGuinness' scientific approach to announcing doesn't seem to fit in with the benign banter

- A decent enough match where Carmella seemed to try and focus on Bayley's knees

- A few well worked spots that led to 'accidental' double team moments

- Carmella would be one hell of a wrestler if she could wrestle as well as she could talk

(rating: 64)

- Camera pans up to reveal Kurt Angle

- Lynch: It occurs to me that the greatest wrestler in the WWE doesn't have a match on booked on Summerslam

- Lynch: It's kind'a crazy to think they'd let Bayley whatsherchops have a match, but not me

- Lynch: So I thought hey why not come down here and see which one of those so-called champions is up for a brawl

- Lynch: Oh no, don't you lot worry, am not cashing in, why would I do that for you lot. You don't deserve it

- Lynch: Just a straight fight, y'know so I can get a feel of which one of you I might want to kick about for the title some other time

- R-Truth still dressed up as a really worn out sad clown

- This was something of a comedy bout with R-Truth pulling a number of clown-like spots and antics including squirting water from a flower he asked Theory to smell at the start of the match

- A pretty well timed throw away match to let the crowd settle back down

In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Roman Reigns defeated John Cena in 30:06 by pinfall with a Spear. Roman Reigns makes defence number two of the WWE title. Roman Reigns makes defence number twenty-three of the WWE Universal title.

- Roman Reigns was immense

- Sadly John Cena's continued run of mixed in-ring action continued, he was really off his game

- Despite that it was a fantastic match and a wonderful send off for the defeated John Cena

- Cena came close to winning several times

- At one point Cena turned a spear attempting into an Attitude Adjustment, carrying Reigns around on his shoulders into the middle of the ring as he screamed in triumph at the fans

- WWE can be happy with Summerslam

- Around 2m people watched Summerslam live across the WWE Network

- A lot of fans thought the show was great and has earned a lot of praise, especially off the back of everything that has happened this month

- There wasn't a lot of star power involved at Summerslam, it really leaned heavily on Cena vs Roman Reigns which only had 4 weeks build up

- John Cena has never beaten Roman Reigns - and possibly never will

- There was A LOT of talent left off Summerslam, so I can imagine there will be a lot of unhappy wrestlers tonight

- As we head into the month of August it looks like the WWE have a fresh landscape ahead of them

- The 2022 WWE Draft has created a new look roster on RAW and Smackdown

- Summerslam was a success with the huge talking point being John Cena losing in the Career vs Title match

- Tonight's RAW will be interesting to see how they handle it

- Adam Pearce has been sent back down to help in NXT

- It has been pretty much confirmed now that Triple H has booked the last month

- I believe HHH is waitng for the next round of NXT recordings before any major changes or call ups to the main roster

- We already know Bron Breakker/Rex Steiner and Io Shirai are due on RAW and Smackdown (Io Shirai has already made her debut)

- I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more called up

- Which probably means a few future endevours on the main roster

- The top names in the WWE right now are easily; Roman Reigns and Becky Lynch, followed by Randy Orton.

- Heyman's face is an absolute picture of frustration and fury

- Heyman: Fine. Fine. FINE. I will remember this Cody Rhodes, if there's one person in this business you do not want to make an enemy out of it is me. PAUL HEYMAN holds grudges like no one else. Once you've made an enemy out of me, gaining my friendship is like trying to catch... Stardust.

It's going to take everything I've got to bring him down, and if I'm not 100% focused... that's all it will take to make the smallest mistake. Oh but I'm coming for you Roman Reigns. Then another injury and quickly nobody remembered who Finn Balor was, unless I let loose the demon and performed the ring entrance for you.

- Edge is smiling

- Balor: Drew McIntyre? He's had it handed to him far too much. First as a fresh faced teen and then once again upon his return. WHERE WERE MY HAND OUTS WHEN I RETURNED?! Oh yeah, I was sent back down to NXT.

- Edge: Your heroes have never earned their places in the WWE. They were favourites of a past regime. We will cripple them and put them out of action until you forget about them, just like you forgot about us.

RAW

4,000 @ Walter Pyramid, CA

Cody Opens the Show

- Cody Rhodes is in the ring

- Cody: Last week Smackdown wrestler Randy Orton invited himself onto RAW, seeking out a RAW wrestler without permission

- Cody: I'm a wrestler, I understand why this happened - I'd do the same thing, but I'm also a business man and General Manager. So, I must protect my show and wrestlers, even if they did cost someone else something as important as winning the Money in the Bank contract

- Cody: Myself, Bret Hart and Stephanie McMahon have all come to an agreement; if any wrestlers crosses brands without permission from the respective General Manager they will be fined

- Cody: This leads me on to... Edge. As far as I can recall, you weren't drafted. You don't belong to any brand, show or General Manager. Then I remember you're in the WWE Hall of Fame... the WWE Legend contract loop hole to appear where you like.

- Cody: If you think this gives you carte blanche to freely attack RAW wrestlers during their matches - you're wrong, buddy. I understand your message, I do, I really do. The pain and suffering of putting your body on the line every day only for others to have the spotlight... I get it. I get it.

- Cody: Lashley came to me during the week and asked for a match tonight on RAW with you - which I booked. It has been signed off. If you don't show then your WWE contract will be terminated.

- She looks scared at first before a smile creeps across her face

- Alexa: You heard me...

- Riddle: Ya, Bro, Orton just ain't cool, ya know

- Cody: I've said what had to be said and I mean it. If any non-RAW wrestlers shows up on my show uninvited I'll deal with it

- Riddle: Yo, he broke the bro code, ya know. He left my hanging and low balled me to chase his own dreams. We could have been tag champs, man

- Cody: I get it, I get it... I really do. You have a chance now to compete for the US Title or beyond. Forget about Randy Orton, you can be the future of RAW... if not the WWE

LoganCast with Seth Rollins

- Logan Paul invented a new catchphrase that will likely boost his ability on the microphone as he now has a go-to line. Can you guess what it is?

- Logan: WELCOME TO THE LOGANCAST, I'm your host Logan Paul and today's guest is a wrestler that has dubbed himself the Messiah and Second-Coming, which is cool cos this is his second time on the LoganCast -- SETH ROLLINS

- Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring and knocks over all the LoganCast set before even sitting down

- Logan: Is this because I called your a chickenshit last time you were on the LoganCast?

- Seth squares up to Logan

- Logan: Yo, buddy, relax. Think of the exposure I'm going to give you to the millions of fans around the world who don't know your name.

- Logan: So, what is your name?

- Seth Rollins glares at Logan Paul

- Rollins: I'm Seth FREAKING

- Logan Paul: OK, Seth Freaking here on the LoganCast, we're live with one of the biggest Weebs in Professional Wrestling. That's right isn't it? That's what you call a bad guy, right? A weeb?

- Rollins: You said I could have...

Logan: Yo, buddy, relax. People are gonna like, comment and subscribe to your Weeb business for sure

... and so on until eventually

- Rollins: OK, you've got a quick mouth. How about tonight we see how quick you are in the ring?

- Logan: Hell yeah, if there's one thing Logan Paul doesn't do its back down from a challenge.

Imperium

- The Imperium stand at the top of the entrance way as Symphony No. 9 in E Minor plays them in

- Ludwig: It seems to have escaped the attentions of some of you uncultured non-european wrestling fan just what we are about

- Ludwig: To my right we have Gunther, a ring general and Germany's greatest wrestler - there was not a promotion in Europe that didn't fear the arrival of Gunther and the collection of medals, trophies and titles. You have seen yourself, as he previously claimed to be your US Champion. A title he will reclaim.

- Ludwig: To my left Commander Azeez the Polish Tower of Power, continuing the fine tradition of Polish powerhouses such as Ivan Putski - The Polish Hammer

- Ludwig: And I am Ludwig Kaiser, chosen spokes person for the Imperium. Consider your knowledge of European wrestlers improved. Until next time.

The Street Profits vs. Andre Chase and Wes Lee

In a decent match, The Street Profits defeated Andre Chase and Wes Lee in 13:20 when Montez Ford pinned Andre Chase with a Frog Splash.

In terms of in-ring work, Montez Ford was head and shoulders above everyone else. Andre Chase was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance.

- Wes Lee looks like he couldn't easily fit on the main roster based on this performance

Apollo Crews and Gable Steveson

- Apollo Crews is approaches Gable Steveson backstage

- Apollo: Hey Champ. Easy, I'm not here to jump you, my friend. But that does bring me to the point; I don't know if you've noticed but there's a lot of chaos happening around here.

- Gable: Yeah, I noticed

- Apollo: How about we watch each other's backs, huh?

- Apollo and Gable Steveson shake hands

Just Clownin'

- R-Truth is in the ring

- R-Truth is interrupted by familiar to some circus music as a strange looking clown starts to make their way to the ring

- R-Truth: What in the name of Dink!?

(rating: 35)

R-Truth vs. Chuckles the Clown

Argument between Becky and Charlotte

- Becky catches Charlotte in the locker room

- Becky: Hey, don't think I don't see what you're doing - you think you can win the RAW Women's title before me?

- Charlotte smiles

- Charlotte: No. I know I can win it before you.

- Becky: Oh is that a fact. So what happened last week? You trip on your old man's dressing gown for Bianca to pin you?

Charlotte: Very funny. Let's just see who's laughing when I'm the WWE Raw Women's Champion.

- Becky pats the MITB briefcase

- Becky: I can cash this in any time. Tonight. Tomorrow. Just as you're about to pin Bianca...

- Becky holds the briefcase up and walks back without breaking eye contact with Charlotte

- Without a doubt two of the biggest and best names on the WWE roster right now

- Everything they say and do seems to be gold

Rea Ripley vs. Bianca Belair

In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, Rhea Ripley drew with Bianca Belair in 13:28 when the match descended into chaos after Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch became involved.

- Charlotte Flair came down to interferre but was stopped by Becky Lynch

- Rhea Ripley is pissed

(rating: 71)

Edge vs. Bobby Lashley

In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, Edge drew with Bobby Lashley in 20:29 when the match descended into chaos after Paige, Finn Bálor, Johnny Gargano and Braun Strowman all became involved.

(rating: 54)

Post-Match Beatings

- Edge and his posse continue to beat down Bobby Lashley

- The show ends with Edge, Finn Balor, Johnny Gragano, Braun Strowman and Paige stand over the prone Bobby Lashley

(Rating: 62)

Final Rating: 62

- A weak RAW. Worringly weak

- RAW's Rating: 1.74 (down from last week's 1.83)

- This is what a RAW without Roman Reigns feels like

- The past month has been spent on Roman Reigns and John Cena, while building up Lashley and Orton as the next contender

- Bobby Lashley and Edge tried to carry it, but in truth the real star power was Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. It will be interesting to see if WWE lean on the women's divison in the coming weeks

- Although the announcement that Brock Lesnar is on RAW next week perhaps shows WWE are aware they're lacking star power

- Edge's stable seems to be: Edge, Finn Balor, Johnny Gargano, Braun Strowman and Paige

- Bayley picked up an injury at a house show, although she shouldn't be out too long

- It seems like Riddle and Jinder Mahal have failed wellness tests, no real details on that at the moment

- Sasha Banks, going by the name Mercedes KV, made her debut in Ring of Honor this week

Bret Fines Randy Orton

- Bret: The WWE Board of Directors have decided to fine Randy Orton for breaching the agreed terms of the RAW/Smackdown draft, appearing on RAW last week uninvited while being contracted to Smackdown. As much as this pains me to do, Randy... a $10,000 fine has been put into place.

(rating: 76)

WWE Cruiserweight Title Round Robin Match: Angel vs. Theory

In a decent match, Angel defeated Theory in 14:44 by pinfall after using a foreign object. During the match we also had Psycho Clown distract Theory.

This match was part of the 'Cruiserweight Title' tournament.

- During the match a clown emerged from under the ring, distracting both the ref and Theory

- The clown seemed to have slid something to Angel

(rating: 60)

Keep Fining Me

- Randy Orton is in the ring

- Randy: The WWE Board of Directors can keep fining me, as I'm going to keep showing up on RAW until I get my hands on Riddle. I'll be on RAW on Monday, the Monday after and the Monday after that if it comes to it. I'm in hunting mode, Riddle. You think I broke some 'bro code'? Kid, you need to grow up, this business is all about winning titles. You'll understand that one day. You didn't think for one moment that having a friend with the WWE and WWE Universal Titles wouldn't have opened doors?

- Randy: Listen to the fans, Riddle. They know how much it means to win those titles, how much it would have meant to me. The only one that broke some Bro Code, is you and the jealousy that runs through you.

(rating: 66)

Anyone else see that Clown?

- Theory is frantically running around backstage

- Theory: You all saw that clown right? RIGHT?

- Theory: It was R-Truth I tell ya, he's stalking me.

- Nikki: IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED?!

(rating: 49)

LA Knight is backstage

- LA Knight walks past the brawl, shaking his head

- He turns the corner past Theory (asking if he's seen a clown)

- Then finally stops when he sees Ikemen Jiro being hyperactive and speaking in incredibly fast Japanese

- LA Knight: OK, let me just stop you there. What are you? Some sort of Japanese Jack-in-the-Box? Look, amigo, I get drafted to Smackdown, but a man is too busy to show for a few weeks. I turn up and I'm greeted by two Scottish Battleaxes brawling wild, then some big-mouthed kid high on LSD searching for clowns... and now this.

- Omos can been seen in the background

- LA Knight: Two second. Yo, hang-time, you won't believe the mad-shit this guy has been saying about you. You know, I'm an expert in multi-lingual, and I can tell you that what he was saying wasn't cool in any langauge. SOmething about your mother, sister, father, autie, uncle and er... absolutely spoke about how you've been skipping leg day, brah

(rating: 52)

Ikemen Jiro vs. Omos

In an extremely short match, Omos defeated Ikemen Jiro in 5:16 by stoppage when Ikemen Jiro could not continue.

- Jiro came out quickly and tried to hit a few high flying moves but was quickly over powered

- If anything Jiro looked the better of the two in the ring

- Omos has a long way to go

ANOTHER reason America sucks

- Bulls on Parade by Rage Against the Machine plays

- Owens and Zayn make their way to the ring, ripping down any pro-America signs

- Owens: Last week proved once again that America is a country that cannot help itself. We're having a nice friendly competative match with Rey Mysterio after he tried to defend the honor of America--

- Zayn: --Don't think we didn't notice you let the immigrant fight your battles for you, America!

- Owens: when out of nowhere, a sneak attack, by AJ Styles. But you know, I shouldn't blame AJ, he's the product of a poor education system that indoctorates the youth into putting their hands on their heart and pledging allegiance to bit of fabric. The One Nation.

- Zayn: And you all know right now you're - either in your head, under your breath or shamelessly out loud - you're reciting that stupid, robotic, brainwashed mantra you call 'the pledge of allegiance'

- Owens: You don't even know how deep the United States has trained you to be their puppets of war

- Zayn: And that is why the United States of America and all you Americans suck

(rating: 68)

Carmella vs. Ronda Rousey

In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, Ronda Rousey defeated Carmella in 9:54 by submission with an Armbar.

- Camrella improved from last week

- Sadly, Ronda still in a rut of bad form

- There seemed to be some sort of story being told in this match where Ronda kept failing to hit her submission moves correctly

(rating: 60)

Drew McIntyre is in the Ring

- McIntyre: Finn Balor. I once had a lot of respect for you. We've travelled the globe together, man

- McIntyre: You, more than anyone, should be able to tell that bawbag Edge just how hard I've worked to get back into the WWE. It killed me when they released me nearly a decade ago. I spent that time away improving my craft, wrestling anyone, anywhere. I went back home feeling like a failure, had my heed kicked by Sabu WAY TOO MANY TIMES, Grado's sweaty pants, brawls with Rampage Brown up and down the UK. I had to rebuild my entire career back on the indie scene across the US before TNA took a chance on me... and I still had to put up with Grado's sweaty pants.

- McIntyre: Edge is out there talking about being forgotten and his body being destroyed to bring the WWE to where it is today. Well not all injuries are physical ones, eh. So why don't you and your new friend step into the ring next week and I'll teach you a few things I learned in the decade I was out of the public eye, rebuilding myself physically and mentally.

AJ Styles & Rey Mysterio vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn defeated AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio in 27:47 when Kevin Owens pinned AJ Styles while using the ropes for leverage.

- Easily one of the better matches WWE have produced lately

- AJ and Rey work well together

- Owens and Sami work well together

- Just a fun match which started with Kevin Owens kneeling down with his hands behind his back refusing to fight

- Sami Zayn shouting they were doing a peaceful protest against the brutality of America

- Rey Mysterio looked at the crowd that cheered him, shrugged, hit a drop kick into the side of Kevin Owens

(rating: 71)

Overal Rating: 61

- The Omos match really hurt Smackdown this week, it would have been better placed earlier in the show with either Angel/Theory or Nakamura/Benjamin in its place

- This is a by product of Smackdown billing itself as a solid wrestling show

Logan Paul in the Ring

- Logan: I've gotta start by giving credit to Professional Wrestling's top Weeb in the business - Seth Rollins. He beat me last week in classic Weeb fashion and I fell for it. I did. He hooked his feet over those ropes and got the pin. Great work, a credit to weebs all over.

- Logan: It proves to me, I still have much to learn about this business. I'm still green, I'm still naive.

- Sheamus's music plays

- Sheamus: If it's a crash course lesson in wrestling y'afta, consider your first lesson free, son.

Paul Heyman

- Paul Heyman walks out alone

- Heyman: After his historic win over John Cena, Roman Reigns rightly has decided to take a well earned rest. He won't be here tonight on RAW and won't be on Smackdown on Friday. HOWEVER... that doesn't mean the Tribal Chief's business goes unnoticed.

- Heyman: I am here tonight to serve notice to the WWE Board of Directors and the General Managers of RAW and Smackdown that their actions against The Bloodline have not gone unnoticed. The unfair treatment of Jey and Jimmy Uso has displeased the Tribal Chief greatly.

- Heyman: The WWE Board of Directors understands not only my frustrations, but Roman Reigns' anger, that The Usos have not been allowed a rematch for the Tag Titles, IC or US titles. So thankfully, tonight, Stephanie McMahon has assured me that Jimmy Uso will get to face Xavier Woods as a form of compensation.

Edge is backstage

- Edge: I have no regrets about what I did to Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley -- and I'd do it again. And again. And again. Each and every time they returned until I had drilled into the skulls they were not welcome.

- Edge: They capitalised on the 9 years I was away. They took what should have been mine. So I will take from them what little time they have left on their careers. tonight when Finn Balor and I step into that ring, we do so to represent ourselves. Not RAW or Smackdown, but the forgotten wrestlers the WWE and its fans have used and disgarded whenever it has suited them

(rating: 55)

No Smackdown Wrestlers Allowed

- Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring

- Cody: Things are getting a little wild around here. If it isn't Smackdown wrestlers attacking RAW wrestlers, it's WWE Legends out to end the careers of other legends.

- Cody: Wrestling is supposed to be fun, everyone having a good time, expressing themselves in and out of the ring. But so far all I've seen is people ripping at each other from somewhere in the arena, sneak attacks during and after matches and non-RAW wrestlers showing up to spoil the party.

- Cody: This is the final reminder - any Smackdown wrestlers show up here tonight or any other night and you'll be fined and I'll find a way to suspend you from Smackdown too.

Cruiserweight Title Round Robin: Butch vs. Ricochet

In a decent match, Ricochet defeated Butch in 10:30 by pinfall with a 630° Splash.

This match was part of the 'Cruiserweight Title' tournament.

- As has become custom lately Smackdown opens with a really strong match

- Ricochet's new move is hugely popular with the crowd. He calls it the 'Air Walk' a kind of springboard backflip that looks like he's walking while flipping

(rating: 62)

Finn Balor is somewhere in the Arena

- Balor: It has been made clear to me that I am not wanted. That I am not welcome. So this..

- Balor holds up his Smackdown contract

- Balor:... is pointless. It means nothing. I no longer consider myself a Smackdown wrestler.

- Balor sets fire to the contract and the camera pans as he throws it in the bin. Paige is hanging behind Balor's shoulder looking pleased.

- Balor: I used to admire you, Bret, but you're no different to anyone else when something new comes along -- you get distracted. You forget about those who matter -- like me. Just like all those so called fans sitting in this here, they like to think they're smart. They like to think they know the wrestlers. But they don't. They're as dumb as you, Bret. I tell ya, who didn't forget... Edge. He didn't forget about any of us.

- The camera pans out to show a smiling Edge standing on the other side of Balor

- It's Chuckles the Clown, the same clown from RAW

- Theory screams, drops his bag, and backs away

- Chuckles: Was it something I said...

LA Knight has arrived

- As LA Knight is walking backstage, he sees Theory run past him

- Knight: Yeah nah, I admire your dedication to Cardio, chicken legs, but this ain't the place

- Suddenly Ikemen Jiro from NXT appears, he's hyper and speaking in rapid Japanese

- Knight: Woh, Woh, cool your jets. Yeah, Yeah, everyone's excited to see LA Knight, I get it. I'd be excited if I was you too. You want a match, huh.

- Ikemen is shaking his head. He seems to be gesturing something; points at Knight, makes a hand gesture about talking, then tries to make himself look talk

- Knight: Yeah Nah, I don't needa hypeman, Kid, I'm the wikipedia definition of hype. Look, you got yourself into trouble with Omos last week with your crazy wild insults, but I'm going to give you a chance. Come on -- in the ring.

- Ikemen reluctantly follows

Reminder - America Sucks

- Bulls on Parade plays, as Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens make their way to the ring

- They have an upside down American flag - a sign of distress

- Owens: Last week, we tried to peacefully resolve our differences with AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio. I knelt before them, my hands behind my back in peaceful protest... only for Rey Mysterio to drop kick me in the face

- Sami: This is why America sucks. Americans cannot be trusted, they do not understand peace. For a country that was founded nearly 250 years ago, you have only known peace for 15 of those years. It isn't your fault. You're just born into the systematic addiction to conflict and war.

- Owens: But as Canadians we understand that education is the best way to help barbaric nations such as America... improve. So tonight, I'm going to help Rey Mysterio, I'm going to give him another chance to come to a peaceful resolution to whatever issue he might have.

Regain Your Focus

- Bret Hart is in the GM office

- Randy Orton is with him

- Bret: Randy, you've got to regain your focus - Roman Reigns, the WWE and Universal Title. That's why I drafted you, y'know. I see in you the greatest modern wrestler, you know. Its why I drafted you number one. I believe you're the guy to beat Roman Reigns and make Smackdown the greatest wrestling show to be seen

- Randy: Yeah. I appreciate that, to hear that from a living legend -- don't worry, the only legend I'm looking to end is Reigns' title reign -- it means a lot to me

- Bret: Good, to help you I've booked a match for you tonight against Jey Uso

Somewhere in the Building

- Edge and Finn Balor appear on the screen

- Edge: Drew, Drew, Drew... you think a few years back home in Scotland means you were forgotten? Do you really think your dreams were broken even though you were on TV most nights and became a darling of those weirdos on the internet?! LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT BROKEN DREAMS! I was at the top of my game, running solo looking to break into the main event scene when suddenly... I break my neck

- Edge: I'm gone for 18 months, wondering if I'll ever wrestle again, working every day to recover so I can step back into the ring. Then I'm told I've recovered and I come back... and get booed by these ungrateful so-called fans because I had found love during a time I felt the most alone. They boo me and chant for Matt Hardy every week.

- Edge: I wrestled on and on, and still they booed. I gave John Cena the feud of his career... and STILL THEY BOOED. All the damn time I'm wrestling on with a fused neck gnawing away at me, slowly crippling me until the point I was forced to retire at what should have been the peak of my career. OH, but of course then the fans cheered - so fickle they be.

- Balor: Next week we will show you what it is like to be Forgotten

Paul Heyman

- Heyman barges into the GM's office

- Heyman: Imagine my surprise that both RAW and Smackdown General Managers are conspiring to undo The Bloodline while Roman Reigns is enjoying a well deserved break after defeating John Cena

- Bret: Paul...

- Heyman: Don't you "Paul" me, to you I am Mr. Heyman. And I see what you're doing, putting Jey Uso into a match with Randy Orton. Denying The Usos, Brothers no less, their right to be together as family, seperating them across RAW and Smackdown. Putting them into matches they were not given time to prepare for, causing them to lose not just the Tag Team titles, but the Intercontinental and US Titles too.

- Bret: Paul...

- Heyman: ... and do they get a chance to regain those titles. No. So tell me, Mr. Hitman, why Roman Reigns shouldn't come to Smackdown and tear this entire brand of yours to the ground for disrespecting his family.

- Bret Hart stands up

- Bret: I'd like to see him try

- AAA held Triplemania XXIX this weekend and it was great

- The random clown that has appeared but not been named (not Chuckles) on WWE TV in recent weeks is actually AAA Star Psycho Clown

- Jeff Jarrett appeared on the AAA Pre-Show

- NXT Takeover was also held this weekend

- T-Bar was the star of the show

- WWE seems to have become more relaxed with their wrestlers appearing outside of WWE shows

- Johnny Gargano appeared at ROH's Glory By Honor event

- Braun Strowman won the MLW Caribbean Heavyweight title last week

- Not sure if this is part of the plan to sell Edge's group as legit 'rogues' or if its some new strategy by WWE
