TOTAL CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING HEADS INTO 2020 WITH A NEW LOOK

Hot off the heels of the critically acclaimed pay-per-view, Total Championship Wrestling presents Psycho Circus 2019, BriCo announced today that Total Championship Wrestling's flagship program, TCW presents Total Wrestling, will be getting a makeover. Fans who tune into Tuesday night's first show of 2020 will be greeted by a new set, a new opening video package, and new style elements that promote TCW's new tagline, "Total Championship Wrestling: Kings of Pro Wrestling." The professional wrestling company is currently one of the top such companies in the United States, along with the juggernaut that is United States Professional Wrestling, and Richard Eisen's ever-present Supreme Wrestling Federation.

Main eventing the first outing of the year will be the first three-way dance presented by TCW in a number of years; three top contenders to the TCW World Championship will do battle in hopes of claiming the next championship match, currently scheduled for January's Malice in Wonderland pay-per-view. Coming off a strong showing in defeat, Joshua Taylor fights for his chance to claim the TCW World Championship against veteran Sammy Bach and current TCW King of Kings tournament winner Wolf Hawkins; a full card for the show is expected to be announced later this afternoon.

All of this news follows rumors of a big shake-up behind the scenes at Total Championship Wrestling; longtime head booker and analyst Kyle Rhodes is rumored to be out of power with a big name in the wrestling world being brought on board to take over booking and writing duties. We'll have more on this story as it develops...

OOC ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

So, try as I might to cover other topics here on the dynasty forum, TCW keeps calling my name-- Wrestling Wonderland is probably my favorite of all my dynasties, and since it had to stop short because of hard drive issues, I've felt this pull to go back to the company. I wanna thank my usual crew of @Historian @Dalton and @Sco xY2Jx for always being around to bounce ideas off of, and for being there for me through some personal life events that took my attention away from the forums. Also, thanks to @willr0ck for his exceptional TCW logo set (and @Dragon97 for the Total Wrestling logo that goes with it). This will NOT be a carbon copy of my TCW: Wrestling Wonderland dynasty, and I'm challenging myself to include some new names while still telling the stories I want to tell. That said, I will be running predictions for each show but I will not be running an official prediction contest with a prize.

My DAVE dynasty will be continuing, but at a much, much slower pace than this one (which, I know, is saying something when I haven't posted a show for it in three months). Total Wrestling will be written in an episode-by-episode summary format to hopefully make it easy to digest in a short sitting. PPV shows will be a little different.

All that said, hop in and enjoy the ride!

TOTAL CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING

CHAMPIONS ROLL CALL

TCW WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

CURRENT CHAMPION: AARON ANDREWS

980OhCy.jpg IAdc0Els.jpg

The TCW World Heavyweight title has a roll call of previous champions that includes many all-time greats like Sam Strong, Rip Chord, and Tommy Cornell. It's one of the big titles in American wrestling history. Aaron Andrews is the current champion, having won the title from Wolf Hawkins in July 2019 at TCW presents Summer Showdown 2019.

TCW TELEVISION CHAMPION

CURRENT CHAMPION: GREG GAUGE

cWomKJj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/kLM8zYks.jpg

Created at the behest of BriCo in order to make TCW's TV shows more important, the TCW Television championship is a secondary-level title that is only ever defended on TV. Greg Gauge is the current champion, having won the title from Doc Hammond in August 2019 on an episode of TCW presents Total Wrestling

TCW WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

CURRENT CHAMPIONS: THE BEHEMOTHS

The TCW World Tag Team titles have been around for almost a quarter of a century and have had their fair share of great champions and...less great champions. The Vesseys and The New Wave are the stand out previous holders. The Behemoths are the current champions, having won the titles from Flying Jimmy Foxx and Benny Benson in July 2019 at TCW presents Summer Showdown 2019.

KING OF KINGS TOURNAMENT

CURRENT CHAMPION: WOLF HAWKINS

Apparently suggested by Sam Keith, the TCW King Of Kings is an annual singles tournament designed to start a big push for someone who'll go on to be a big part of the next year's Total Mayhem.

TCW presents TOTAL WRESTLING

JANUARY 2020, WEEK ONE

We’re welcomed to the show by Shawn Doakes, Kyle Rhodes, and Jasmine Saunders, the camera settling in on their ringside position as Rhodes starts off by acknowledging the main event from last month’s Psycho Circus show, between TCW World Champion Aaron Andrews and former number one contender Joshua Taylor may have been the Match of the Year despite taking place so late in the game. The announce team then run down tonight’s card, including the three-way dance main event between Wolf Hawkins, Sammy Bach, and Joshua Taylor to determine a new number one contender to the TCW World Championship, before being interrupted, conveniently at the end of their rundown, by the music of Greg Gauge.

The opening match is TCW Television Champion Greg Gauge with a defense against wrestling veteran Bart Biggins, who has been having a rough go of it in Total Championship Wrestling as of late; his last recorded win was sometime last year. Gauge and Biggins have a competitive bout, with Bart looking his old self in several spots of the match. The flow of the match is interrupted for viewers at home as it is bisected by a picture-in-picture commercial, but it is a hot opener nevertheless. Just like every other competitor Gauge has defended against since winning the title nearly five months ago in August 2019, Biggins ends up tapping to the Proton Lock.

Following the match, Kyle Rhodes comes to the ring for a word with Bart Biggins. Out of breath and looking dejected, Biggins admits that it’s been hard for him for a long time; maybe he doesn’t have “it” anymore, he says, just before Gauge blindsides him with the TCW Television Championship belt. Rhodes hightails it out of the ring as Gauge puts the boots to a fallen Biggins for a moment before the crowd begins to cheer, Benny Benson flying out of the back to make the save. Gauge grabs his championship belt and rolls out of the ring quickly, laughing and clutching his title as he and Benson stare one another down for a moment until Gauge turns and leaves. Benson kneels next to Biggins and checks on his friend as we head to commercial.

Back from commercial, and we’re treated to entrances by Shocking Matt Hocking and T-Bone Bright for their singles match. T-Bone shows off his power in the beginning, but underhanded tactics by Hocking gain him the upperhand before too long; showboating loses it for him just as quickly. In the end, that’s the story of the match: Hocking is too cocky to capitalize on his momentum, and loses to the powerful youngster T-Bone Bright.

After another break, we’re greeted by the infamous opening video and theme of The Syndicate, Wolf Hawkins leading the way for Doc Hammond, The Elite, and an injured Chris Flynn with his arm in a sling. The current King of Kings in Total Championship Wrestling and the self-proclaimed “Alpha Wolf” gets on the microphone and runs down the fans, in particular for their acclaim of Sunday night’s Aaron Andrews versus Joshua Taylor match. He says that, if anyone had match of the year, it was the Alpha Wolf; which match? Take your pick. He says that the King of Kings having to wait until Total Mayhem to get his World title match is a travesty, and goes on a tirade about how much he hates Aaron Andrews before the opening strums of The Ace’s music hits, causing the crowd to explode.

TCW World Champion Aaron Andrews makes his way into the Wayback River Center with the belt snug around his waist and a smirk on his face. He stops at the top of the ramp, not daring to enter the lion’s den in the ring where The Syndicate would outnumber him five-to-one. Andrews says that people always ask him if he’s tired of this dance with Wof Hawkins over who is the face of Total Championship Wrestling.

“I’ll never get tired of proving myself to these people, the TCW fans, night-in, night-out, every Tuesday, every Sunday, every day and every night I step into that ring!” Andrews announces as the crowd swells, Hawkins seething in the ring along with his Syndicate cronies. Andrews mocks Hawkins, saying that the King of Kings should have no trouble winning a three-way match to claim his shot at Malice in Wonderland. Hawkins confidently says that he will do just that, and then he’ll win the TCW World Championship, and the fans will have to put up with a subpar main event at Total Mayhem because he’ll take the night off!

Andrews and Hawkins go back-and-forth for several minutes before Andrews makes a verbal slip-up, claiming he could “beat anyone in The Syndicate and still have enough in the tank to beat Hawkins.” Wolf challenges him to do just that, next week: beat Doc Hammond, and then beat Hawkins. Without flinching, Andrews accepts and we have two potential match-ups for next week!

After some commercials, we get Freddy Huggins entering the arena with a picture-in-picture promo where Huggins and his sister, Laura Catherine Huggins, claim that having to wrestle Danny Fonzarelli tonight is beneath them. Just like the rest of the competition in TCW is beneath them, and Freddy is going to prove it tonight. Fonzarelli is already in the ring, and the match doesn’t take too long as Huggins picks up the win with a Huggins Kiss.

We see a very brief video that recaps The Mighty’s recent troubles with The Sinner Society in their quest to become TCW Tag Team champions, before Mighty Mo and Nick Booth (along with Eddie Peak) make their entrances for the third match of the evening. Despite Mo having the size advantage, Booth is a heavy hitter and he goes toe-to-toe with Mo. The end of the match sees Mighty Mo pick up the win, but he doesn’t get to celebrate for long before the rest of The SInner Society hit the ring and go on the attack. Tana the Mighty tries to make the save, but The Mighty are outnumbered and beaten down in short order.

Following another break, Jay Chord is in the back to cut a promo on Sammy Bach, saying that his “Legacy of Greatness” has a date with destiny at Malice in Wonderland. “In order to ascend the tower of greatness, I have to take out the pillars that came before me,” Chord claims. He says that Bach is a relic, and he’ll prove it at Malice in Wonderland. After that, Devine Fortune are out for a match with The Elite.

These teams have been chasing each other for about a month now, with this being the first in-ring meeting between them as a backstage attack at Psycho Circus in December bumped the bout from the card. The Elite tell a story around Daryl Devine’s injured leg and his reluctance to go to the top rope, but Devine and Chance Fortune pick up a big win here when Devine pins Eddie Chandler. The babyfaces don’t have long to celebrate, however, before they are jumped by the bitter losers that are the heel team; The Elite stand tall to pitch the show to another commercial break.

The Syndicate continues to be involved when we come back from break as Doc Hammond takes on One Man Army in a stiff, technical match between the former tag team partners. OMA looks good, but Hammond takes home the win in relatively short fashion for a TCW match. Following the match, Sammy Bach makes his way into the arena to cut a promo on his three-way dance this evening with Wolf Hawkins and Joshua Taylor. He says the odds may be against him, but he likes to party when he’s losing the numbers game– tonight will be no different. “Bet on Bach, and party on!”

The main event tonight is Sammy Bach versus Wolf Hawkins versus Joshua Taylor in a three-way dance, which means not one but two men have to be beaten in order for there to be a winner. Taylor is coming hot off of his near-win over TCW World Champion Aaron Andrews while Hawkins’ King of Kings victory allows him to lay claim to the next title shot, and Sammy Bach looks for possibly one last day in the sun as he hunts for the World title. The three work a very good match that sees Wolf Hawkins take out Sammy Bach for the first fall; before Bach leaves the ring, however, Hawkins attempts to add insult to injury and winds up finding himself trapped in Joshua Taylor’s Butterfly Lock as a result. With Bach keeping The Syndicate at bay on the outside of the ring, Hawkins has no choice but to tap out to Taylor and receive the first chink in his armor since the King of Kings PPV.

Mayhem follows as The Syndicate rushes the ring and attack Bach & Taylor, but “The Ace” makes his way out to save the Bach & Taylor! Aaron Andrews takes out Doc Hammond with a Flying Body Press while Bach & Taylor dispense The Elite, Chris Flynn outside the ring with his arm in a sling and barking at the babyfaces. Taylor and Andrews send Hawkins outside to the floor, the heel faction scrambling to get away as they hightail it up the ramp.

Andrews and Taylor meet in the center of the ring, jawing at each other in lively fashion. “You wanna do this again?” Andrews asks, to which Taylor nods and sticks out his hand. The first Total Wrestling of 2020 ends with Aaron Andrews and Joshua Taylor shaking hands, ready to go to war for the fans once again with the TCW World title hanging in the balance.

Just now, falling_star said:

I'll see about putting it on a colored background, but, unfortunately, dark mode on these forums just kinda sucks for interacting with non-dark mode posts.

I definitely understand it's difficult to find a middle place, but the non-dark mode actually hurts my eyes to try and look at. I was able to highlight the show text to read it, and I'll continue doing that, but just thought I'd ask lol
