Reply #100 and still going strong. Meanwhile, I've only gained one level in World of Warcraft since this game came out. Dammit. Welcome to the Coastal Zone. now gimmie XP. October 2007, Week 4, Tuesday Welcome to the Mexican Coast Bar Juarez --Randy Matravers def. Joe Gilbert (E) Hype for TV's main event: Phoenix vs Weasel (D-) --Ben Williams def. Cal Sanders (E) Show rating: E. It's a good thing those shows are meant to suck and just be cheap, or I'd be worried about the ratings. This was going to be a difficult Coastal Zone. Cougar was joined on tour by Machine and Dragon... and we had expected Dragon to be available. Uh-oh. Rewrite! October 2007, Week 4, Thursday Welcome to the Coastal Zone Live from the Sold Out Snake Pit We open with a hype video for the main event (D-) --Ota def. Plague in sixteen minutes (C). Citizen X tells his fellow Tidal Tag Champion that, since tonight's match with the Flyboys is non-title, he's not going to participate. Roderick is upset, until Citizen X reveals his partner for the night... Fox Mask? Is Fox joining the X-Factor? (D) --Roderick Remus & Fox Mask def. The Fly Boys in eighteen minutes (D+). Ultimate Phoenix declares an open challenge, from now until he loses the title, for anyone to come face him (D+). --Main Event Championship Match: Ultimate Phoenix def. And to make things a bit easier, we had just signed a new name to the Zone. One sure to give us an edge in Mexico... On the next Coastal Zone: Ultimate Phoenix learns to regret his open challenge.

"Well... it's the thought that counts." Welcome to the Coastal Zone! Fox has just been made an offer to tour with WEXXV. The same day, the internet was abuzz with rumors of WEXXV going bankrupt. Oh, well. We weren't in danger of being bankrupt, but since Cliff said he'd fire us if we dropped below a hundred grand, we didn't have to worry about bankruptcy. Luckily, we were nowhere near our limit, either. But this month was the worst of the last five, and with our more expensive stars wanting to be used more, we were getting worried. Especially since every dollar we lost in 2007 we'd have to make back by the end of 2008. November would need to be an experimental month, trying to keep costs down... if it didn't work, we'd still have December to play with before getting serious. Novermber 2007, Week 1, Tuesday Welcome to the Mexican Coast --Joe Gilbert def. Randy Matravers (E) Hype for TV main event: Phoenix vs Donnie J (D-) --Marc Speed def. Jesse Gilbert (E+). Show rating: E+. Randy and Ben Williams re-upped their contracts for another nine months each. In the meantime, we we quite pleased with our new signing, and were getting ready to debut him after the next TV main event.. only.. awwwww, crap! When the hell did... our newest signee, Mario Heroic (Hey, he was the only other guy SOTBPW had who could work for American companies), had a severed spinal cord and was out for eight months. And apparently, he'd had it since the end of June and we never bothered to check before offering him a contract. At least we didn't give him a downside. Despite the setback, we checked our other 'competition' and selected a couple names to make offers to. In the meantime, we had a show to book. And Cougar was, again, touring. We were going to have to put him on the Tuseday show, weren't we... November 2007, Week 1, Thursday Welcome to the Coastal Zone Live from the sold-out Snake Pit We open with Fox Mask insulting Remmy Skye's drug-abusing ways (E+). --Fox Mask def. Remmy Skye in thirteen minutes (D). Masked Man gets mic time (intentionally, actually) to tell people that tonight will be viewed at the night he showed he was a star, and Jimmy Foxx was not (E+). --Jimmy Foxx def. Masked Man in thirteen minutes (E+). Donnie J hypes his match with Phoenix (D). --Main Event Championship Match: Ultimate Phoenix def. Donnie J in seventeen minutes (D). Afterwards, Insane Machine comes out with the Xtreme Title and bellows to Phoenix that he's next week's opponent. (D-). Show rating: D TV rating: 0.03. We hadn't lost viewers! People complaining we weren't using them enough: Weasel, James Prudence, Mark Smart, Masked Cougar, Plague, Remmy Skye. Well, Cougar and Smart could go on Mexican Coast. The others... well, I beg you can guess what some of the next week's card will look like! Next time, on the Coastal Zone: Will our 1,500 faithful viewers continue to tune in? If we moved the show back to the Simmons Center, would we suddenly have a 0.04 rating as the people who couldn't get tickets watch on TV instead? Let's not find out...

One of the few things more reliable than the Patriots winning a playoff game at home: Welcome to the Coastal Zone! We had a couple new names on the roster, pretty much tailor-made for the Mexican touring show. November 2007, Week 2, Tuesday Welcome to the Mexican Coast Gutierrez Community Center, Southeast Mexico --DeCipher def Randy Matravers (E) Hype for TV main event (D-) --Masked Cougar def. Angel de Mexico (D+) Show rating: D. Maybe we should've put that on TV. Another half-hour added to that, or a change in the midcard... November 2007, Week 2, Thursday Welcome to the Coastal Zone Live from the sold out Snake Pit --Air Attack Weasel def. Remmy Skye in fourteen minutes (C-) James Prudence hypes his match with Plague (E+) --Plague def. James Prudence in twelve minutes (D) Plague tells James to take a message to his partner: I'll beat him, too! (D-) --Main Event Championship Match: Ulimtate Phoenix(c) def. Insane Machine by DQ as Machine decides to go a little bit crazy around seventeen minutes in (D). The match is followed by a semi-long post-match beatdown (D). Show rating: D. TV rating: 0.03 We were holding steady... turns out Phoenix and Machine don't have good chemistry, we were really hoping for a better result there. We were also hoping for a better Plague/Prudence match, and we were now reconsidering our decision to give Plague a minor push. Maybe they knew they would lose, but Remmy Skye and James Prudence were both late to the show. Both were fined, with Prudence getting angry over it. Well, that does it, we're gonna bury the jerk. And just to put things in perspective, SWF has hit Global size. The wrestlign industry in North America had hit bottom and was begining to grow back, with Mexico weathering the storm better than the US or Canada. Europe was even worse off and getting worse. The UK and Japan, bastions of wrestling at the begining of the year, were starting to feel dropoffs in popularity. The world was getting interesting. Next time, on the Coastal Zone: Okay, I'm pushing Plague. Now shut up about him already.

Come for the witty sayings, stay for the incoherent booking! Okay, I think I used that one a couple years ago. Welcome to the Coastal Zone! We had decided that, just to have fun, we were going to celebrate New Year's Eve with CZCW: Year In Review. And if things went well, we'd begin building to it next week. November 2007, Week 3, Tuesday Welcome to the Mexican Coast Southeastern Mexico --DeCipher def. Mark Smart (E+) Hype for TV main event: Insane Machine vs Roderick Remus (F-) --Mark Speed def. Andre Gorman (D-) Show rating: D- Smart's probably going to be upset that we're not actually bothering to decide winners or losers. We should take a better hand in the outcomes of the matches there, just to avoid bad feelings. For the record, our complainers this week: Weasel, Donnie, Fox, Ota, Jesse, Smart, Plague, Remus. Damn, that'd be an expensive show. November 2007, Week 3, Thursday Welcome to the Coastal Zone Live from the sold out Snake Pit Roderick Remus promises to regain the Xtreme Title tonight and become the first dual-title-holder in recent memory (D). --Air Attack Weasel def. Jesse Gilbert (D) --Plague def. Donnie J in eleven minutes (C-). Afterwards, out runs James Prudence for the double-team beatdown... and here comes Fox Mask for the save! Fox and Plague fight back and stand tall! (E) --Ota def. Mark Smart in nine minutes (D) --Main Event Xtreme Title Ladder Match: Roderick Remus def. Insane Machine(c) in sixteen minutes (C-). Show rating: C-, yes! TV rating: 0.04! Yes, five thousand more converts to the Zone! Annnnd our hopes of signing SWF's most recent castoff, Enygma, goes up in smoke as he tells us we're too small. Sheesh. Like anyone else'll wanna pay him... On the next Coastal Zone: The build to CZCW Year In Review begins.

Refusing to go an entire day without an update... well, an entire day central time, anyway... Welcome to the Coastal Zone! A handful of names joined SWF. I wouldn't go into them right now; I'll do a mini-update at the end of the year. November, 2007 Week 4, Tuesday. Welcome to the Mexican Coast. San Louis Potosi Hall, West-Central Mexico --Flying Jimmy Foxx def. Masked Man (E+) Hype for TV main event: Fox Mask vs Donnie J. (F) --Masked Cougar def. Angel De Mexico (D+). Show rating: D November, 2007. Week 4, Thursday. Welcome to the Coastal Zone Live from the sold out Snake Pit We open with Fox cutting a promo on Donnie J, telling him that the Flyboys' actions ganging up on Plague weren't acceptable in his Zone (D-) --Air Attack Weasel def. Remmy Skye in fourteen minutes (C-) --Citizen X def. Joe Gilbert in nine minutes (D-). Jesse took Citizen X's place at the announce table for the match. When it was over, Jesse cheap-shotted Remmington Remus. Joe joined him in the attack until Citizen X came to the rescue of his tag-team partner's brother. The two could continue to mention it for the rest of the show (E-). --Main Event: Donnie J def. Fox Mask in twenty minutes when James Prudence interfered (D-). Afterwards, The Fly Boys took turns beating on Fox until Plague ran in for the save (E). Show rating: D TV rating: 0.03. We'd lost that small blip in viewers from last week. Well, that was somewhat disappointing after last week. We were hoping to get up to 0.05... oh, well. CZCW.COM NEWSFLASH The first match for Year In Review has been set, and it's a doozy as Fox Mask and Plague will team up to take on The Fly Boys! Next time, on the Coastal Zone: That's one match ready for the end of the month. Now, who else can we put together? And should we check to see who's touring that day?

Giving you a clearer view of the future than a HeroClix public chat: Welcome to the Coastal Zone! Yes, I'm a multi-faceted geek. December came, and some backyard promotion went out of business, with their five top guys deciding to get jobs in wrestling. Or try to. We looked at them and figured, "Eh, what the heck," And started sending out contract offers... until we learned one of them had a drug past. So we wound up offering four out of the five... which seemed wrong somehow. Wish there was an easy way to tell if someone had a drug problem other than Cliff complaining when I offered them a job. My plan had been to bring them in as a faction.. but if I couldn't get all of them, well, we'd have to reconsider that plan. December, 2007. Week 1, Tuesday Welcome to the Mexican Coast Bar Juarez, Northern Mexico --DeCipher def Randy Matravers (E) Hype for TV main event: Ultimate Phoenix vs Angel De Mexico (C-) --Andre Gorman def. Cal Sanders (E) Show rating: E. Nice. Have I gotten a C- for a hype video yet? No? I'd have to check the records. We had gotten our popularity in Mexico up to an F+, but financially we were turning back into a wreck. The touring show might have to stop at the end of 2007. In the meantime, TCW was hot on SWF's heels as they, too, rose to Global size. We were... struggling at Regional. This was going to be a tough climb. December, 2007. Week 1, Thursday Welcome to the Coastal Zone Live from the sold out Snake Pit. --Fumihiro Ota def. Air Attack Weasel in eleven minutes (D). After the match, Ota cuts a promo on the whole CZCW, saying he thought there would be some competition here (E+). --X-Factor (Williams/Smart) def. The Gilbert Brothers in eight minutes (D-). Hype video for Year In Review: Fox and Plague vs Fly Boys (E) --CZCW Championship Lucha Libre match: Ultimate Phoenix(c) def. Angel De Mexico in six minutes (C-). Afterwards, out comes Otapointing his finger at Phoenix and motioning to his belt. Phoenix looks puzzled for a moment, and then nods his head (D). Show rating: D+ TV rating: 0.03. CZCW.COM NEWSFLASH Newly booked for Year in Review: Ultimate Phoenix defends the CZCW Title against Fumihiro Ota in a Lucha Libre Rules match! On the next Coastal Zone: Do we bring in some fresh backyard rookies?

"As a general principle, I hate backyard wrestlers. You boys are somewhere between the guys who made Bumfights and the guys who make snuff films. But in your case, I'll make an exception." "Because you notice our natural talent to mold as you see fit?" "No. Because you'll work cheap. Welcome to the Coastal Zone." We'd settled on hiring three of the four punks we talked to. The newest members of the Zone: Daredevil Aero, Fearless Blue, and Super Sonic. We'd find a use for them somewhere... cheap jobbers if nothing else. December, 2007. Week 2, Tuesday Welcome to the Mexican Coast Bar Juarez, Northern Mexico --DeCipher def. Daredevil Aero (E) Hype for TV main event: Ultimate Phoenix vs Fearless Blue (E+) --Masked Cougar def. Super Sonic (D) Show rating: D-. We knew that Cougar could pull off a good match with nearly anyone, but maybe this Sonic guy was worth keeping an eye on. Sadly, Cougar was signing on for another tour with WLW, so we may be unable to use him on the Thursday shows for a while... again. December, 2007. Week 2, Thursday Welcome to the Coastal Zone Live from the sold-out Snake Pit We open with a hype video for Year In Review: Ota vs Phoenix (D-). --Snap Dragon def. Remmy Skye in eleven minutes (D). --The Backyarders (Daredevil Aero and Super Sonic) def. The Gilbert Brothers in thirteen minutes (E+). Afterwards, Citizen X uses his color position to cut a rant on backyard wrestling in general and Aero, Sonic, and Blue in general. (E) --Flying Jimmy Foxx def. Marc Speed in eleven minutes (D). Before his match, Ultimate Phoenix takes a few minutes to insult Ota as someone who isn't ready for what he's asking for (C-). --Main Event Championship Match: Ultimate Phoenix(c) def. Fearless Blue in eight minutes (D+). Show rating: D. We blame the tag match for that. TV rating: 0.03 Well, that was... what it was. CZCW.COM NEWSFLASH Roderick Remus has told CZCW.COM that he wants to prove he is the greatest rookie in CZCW history, and at Year In Review, wants to defend both his Xtreme Title and his Tidal Tag Titles. Opponents will be chosen shortly. Next time, on the Coastal Zone: We toss in a few matches to keep people happy, and begin to use our last two weeks to build up some matches.

Okay, maybe we -occasionally- go a full day without a post. Welcome to the Coastal Zone. December, 2007. Week 3, Tuesday Welcome to the Mexican Coast Bar Juarez, Northern Mexico --Andre Gorman def. Randy Matravers (E) Hype for TV main event: Ultimate Phoenix and Roderick Remus vs Fumihiro Ota and Insane Machine (E-) --DeCipher def. Mark Smart (E+) Final rating: E+ Well, luckily, we weren't well-known enough for that show to hurt us. Still, soon we'd have to start paying attention to that sort of thing. And then... disaster. TCW made an offer to Ota. Surprisingly, RIPW went for Remmy Skye. We weren't as concerned about that as, say, DAVE probably was... we were just jobbing him anyway. December, 2007. Week 3, Thursday Welcome to the Coastal Zone Live from the sold-out Snake Pit We open with Roderick Remus telling us the reason that Insane Machine is in the main event tonight is because he's accepted his challenge for a ladder match at Year In Review. (D-). --The Fly Boys def. The Backyarders (Daredevil Aero & Super Sonic) in thirteen minutes (E+). Citizen X continues to tell us his thoughts on backyard wrestling, and says tonight he'll show that backyarders are just trash (D). --Fearless Blue def. Citizen X in eight minutes when Super Sonic and Daredevil Aero rush the ring to distract the ref and toss Blue a chair (E+). Afterwards, Roderick Remus hits the ring and helps X run off the kids, and the tag champs challenge the Backyarders to a match at Year in Review (D-). --Main Event Tag: Ultimate Phoenix & Roderick Remus def. Fumihiro Ota & Insane Machine in twenty-two minutes (C-). Show rating: D TV rating: 0.03 In retrospect, we were giving the Backyarders too much time, but it was neccessary as we needed a fresh jobber team for the big show.. nobody would buy the Gilberts challenging, the Flyboys were booked, and Air Force One was still broken up. Next time, on the Coastal Zone: Will our chosen #1 Contender flee for a written contract in TCW the week before his title match? If so... who the hell do we have built up to replace him?

Politics and wrestling both make strange bedfellows. One just cares less about who learns about it. Welcome to the Coastal Zone! We had an ally in keeping Ota on the indy circuit -- DAVE had made him a PPA offer. Hopefully the combined paychecks from us and them would keep him from picking TCW. But on another front, RIPW was making another place for a Zoner, offering a contract to Citizen X. It looked like Year In Review may very well be the last show for several of our regulars. And next year we were going to have to be very profitable if I wanted to keep my job... December, 2007. Week 4, Tuesday. Welcome to the Mexican Coast Bar Juarez, Northern Mexico --DeCipher def. Randy Matravers (E) Hype for TV main event: Fox & Plague vs Foxx & Weasel (F) --Angel De Mexico def. Andre Gorman (D-) Show rating: D- Running count of people we've lost to other companies this week: One. December 2007, Week 4, Thursday Welcome to the Coastal Zone Live from the sold-out Snake Pit --Xtreme Title Match: Roderick Remus(c) def. Fearless Blue in seven minutes (D-). Afterwards, Remus taunts Insane Machine, saying he'll be just as easy to defeat. (D) --Masked Cougar def. Snap Dragon in ten minutes (C-) The Backyarders cut a short promo on Citizen X (E) --Masked Man def. Marc Speed in eleven minutes (D) Hype video for Fox & Plague vs The Fly Boys (E) --Main Event: Plague & Fox Mask def. Air Attack Weasel and Flying Jimmy Foxx in sixteen minutes (D+). Show rating: D+ TV rating: 0.03 Always good to go into a big show with a higher rating, but there was some bad news. Chalk two people up to poaching by the majors this week. On the next Coastal Zone: CZCW Year In Review. Join us as we say goodbye to two big names.

Welcome to CZCW Year In Review! December, Week 4, Sunday Live at the Grissom Auditorium ... Grissom. Nevada. I get it. Cute, Ryland. Real cute. We open with Fox Mask announcing that Plague has been called to Japan tonight, and pretty much everyone else is already in a match, so it looks like he'll be fighting a handicap match toni... wait... that's X-Factor's music... Dun dun duh-dun, dun dun duh-dun. Welcome to the Coastal Zone: Mission: Impossible! Do-do-do... do-do-do... do-do-do... do-duh! We needed to average ten grand a month for the next year. In profit. I did -not- move my family all the way to California only to have to move back two years later. We needed a brilliant plan. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recognize a brilliant prlan if it snuck up behind me, kicked me in the pants, and sang a song to the tune of "I am a Pirate King" called "I am a Brilliant Plan." We were changing things up. Our TV show was hitting the road to Mexico, and our short shows were going to take place at the Snake Pit, where we could justify charging more and getting more people to show up. We'd also be pulling back on the expensive workers a bit... and we'd need to get a good storyline out of the two workers who were leaving. Yeap. Ota was going to TCW. Citizen X was going to join Matt Sparrow in RIPW. We were still waiting to hear on a few other decisions... but with the roster slightly bloated, we didn't mind. Other than Ota, we only had one person on the roster who wanted a downside agreement... which meant that James Prudence was unceremoniously kicked out of the Zone. We would also say goodbye to Air Attack Weasel as our most expensive non-main-eventer. We also just plain didn't like him. Now to get the new year started right! We'll reuse talent, start a short-lived fued, and bury the crap out of someone who thinks he's too good for us! January 2008, week 1, Tuesday Welcome to the Coastal Zone: Live! Live from the Snake Pit --Fumihiro Ota does the job to Daredevil Aero (D), Super Sonic (D-), and Fearless Blue (E+). Hype for TV main event: Roderick Remus vs Citizen X to decide who the X-Factor's weak link really is (E) --CZCW Title Match: Ultimate Phoenix def. Fumihiro Ota (C-). Show rating: D No, we weren't bitter. That show had nothing to do with our plans to make Ota our heel champion, always out to prove his Puro style was better than the Mexican Lucha style. We'll see what he does in TCW. And then, a revelation... Citizen X had worked out a pay-per-appearance deal with RIPW, not a written deal. The man was still loyal to the Zone! Plans for a storyline were begun immediately. January 2008, Week 1, Thursday Welcome to the Coastal Zone: TV Live from... um... Bar Juarez, Northern Mexico. We open with Masked Cougar announcing he's cashing in his title shot from Battle at the Beach. With Roderick Remus having to take on Citizen X tonight, he feels Rod won't try as hard to retain his Xtreme title... and he's going to take it (E). --Masked Man def. Remmy Skye in ten minutes (D). He then spends some time taunting the stoner (F). --Xtreme Title: Roderick Remus(c) def. Masked Cougar in fifteen minutes (D+). We then get some video shot earlier today... where Citizen X convinces Cougar to take the title shot to wear Remus down! (E) Upon seeing this, Remus has a few choice words for Citizen X (F+). --Main Event: Roderick Remus def. Citizen X in sixteen mintues (D-). Show rating: D. TV Rating: 0.03 Honestly, we were hoping a better match out of those two. After one week, we were up three grand. If we managed to keep this up, we'd average ten grand a month easy... but what were the odds of us being able to keep this up? On the next Coastal Zone: Plague left Fox in the lurch at Year In Review. How does Fox feel about this? X-Factor take on the Backyarders. And what the heck do I try now?

"So let me get this straight. Instead of charging folks eight bucks for an hour-long show, we're going to charge them twelve for a half-hour show? And you expect to make more money that way?" "Donnie, man... never overestimate the marks." Welcome to the Coastal Zone! January, 2008. Week 2, Tuesday Welcome to the Coastal Zone: Live! The Snake Pit, Southwest USA --Plague def. Snap Dragon (C) As Plague left and Fox Mask came out for his match, the two exchanged words... then shouts... then went their separate ways (D-) --Fox Mask def. Donnie J (D) Show rating: D+ We needed someone better to match Fox up with. But then, that's what the program with Plague was for. January 2008, Week 2, Thursday Welcome to the Coastal Zone: TV Gutierrez Community Center, Southeast Mexico We open the show with Fox Mask demanding Plague come out and tell us all just why Japan is so much more important to him than the Zone. Plague comes out and tells Fox he doesn't deserve answers, and reveals the two will meet in a tag match tonight (E+) --Super Sonic def. Ben Williams in nine minutes (E-) --Mark Smart def. Daredevil Aero in eight minutes (D-) Afterwards, the Backyarders attack X-Factor from behind, and Citizen X doesn't bother leaving the announce table, he just watches (F) --Angel De Mexico def. Jesse Gilbert in nine minutes (D) Hype time, as Fox Mask reluctantly picks Remmy Skye as his partner, and the two cut a promo on Plague and his partner (E-) --Plague & Masked Man def. Fox Mask & Remmy Skye in sixteen minutes, Plague pins Skye (D-). Show rating: D- TV rating: 0.03. Perhaps we were over-relying on the Backyarders a bit... but hey, they were cheap, and we were still getting over in Mexico... We'd broken into the E- range in Northern Mexico, and the internet and TV show were still doing good for us... but we had to do something new and funky, and so, we scheduled CZCW: Broken for the second week of February. Sounded like the perfect place to put on a few good matches... Next time, on the Coastal Zone: Two weeks into the new year, and we need a title fued, don't we?
