Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling Headed by the younger Crockett, and under the guidance of a new creative force, former wrestler George Scott, the promotion moved away from a tag team product to focus more on singles wrestling, though tag team wrestling continued to play a big part in the company. Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and Wide World Wrestling were syndicated throughout the territory, starting in 1975, the territory was now able to form what would become the best-known version of the United States Heavyweight Championship as a result. Jim Crocket Promotions gradually began to expand, running shows in eastern Tennessee, parts of West Virginia, and Savannah, Georgia. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, they moved into Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio. Crockett and Scott also bought into Frank Tunney's promotion in Toronto, which ran under the Maple Leaf Wrestling brand name. Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling was seen on a station out of Buffalo, New York, which allowed the joint Tunney/Crockett/Scott effort to bring a full slate of shows to Ontario and upstate New York. In 1980, Jim Crockett Jr. was elected President of the National Wrestling Alliance, and his program- which helped him get elected, due to it now being on the air in upstate New York and Ontario- became the main show for the NWA in 1981, after Crockett was help to hire Georgia Championship Wrestling booker as the booker for the show. In 1981, Crockett was able to make it so his successful show was now completely based in the WPCQ studios in Charlotte, thanks in part to Ric Flair winning the NWA World Heavyweight Title; this also helped him hire Ole Anderson too. By the 1980s, the wrestling world was undergoing significant changes. The old NWA territory system was collapsing under pressure from the nationalized Titan Sports, which operated under the brand name World Wrestling Federation (WWF); Titan Sports Inc, Vince K. McMahon's minortiy-WWF company founded in 1980-, became the modern day WWE after it purchased McMahon Sr's Capitol Wrestling Inc. (majority WWF) and unified as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) as its own corporation after this purchase occured in 1982. On July 4, 1982, WWF and Jim Crockett Jr. came together to promote a match involving WWF champion Bob Backlund and NWA champion Ric Flair, but Crockett still had open plans for the future as well. Jim Crockett's vision was to create a united NWA by purchasing, or merging, all of its member territories The current date is April, 1983, the wrestling world is about to explode in a massive all-out war. Which promotion will survive during the Death of the Territories??

Match 2 of the Best of Seven Series for the United States Championship Roddy Piper vs Greg Valentine=Though it's horrible to have to pick against the Hot Rod, I'm imaging a big lead by Valentine only to have Piper come back in the end. The Brisco Brothers vs Black Bart & Dick Slater=I got rid of the Briscos early in my MACW game in 2005 but they are definitely the class of this match. Bob Orton Jr. vs Ken Timbs=Gotta go with Orton. Why? Because he's Bob Orton! NWA World Heavyweight Championship Ric Flair defends against Jay Youngblood=I can never EEEEEEEEEVER predict against Flair. He's my favorite of all time. Whoooo.

Congrats on that last show! It was great seeing a solid squash match in Orton vs. Timbs - and the Main Event was cool; typical throwaway bout for Flair, you'd think, but he makes Youngblood look tough regardless. I am also enjoying that Seven Match series between Piper and Valentine. I would imagine that the heat for that storyline should really pay off towards the end of the series. Thanks for this. It's a lot of fun to follow.
