  1. Austin had also been frustrated with the overall creative for his character since at least the very beginning of 2002. He didn't want to work with the nWo, he didn't want to work with Scott Hall at WrestleMania, and after WrestleMania he was never quite Stone Cold Steve Austin. Post WrestleMania for Austin was the WWE giving Austin the modern day WWE treatment of making him just another guy on the roster. So I think it was just a bunch of stuff that had built up, and the Lesnar thing was the final straw. Austin just realized he has enough **** you money to be able to say that he doesn't need this shit anymore. It's really not even a weird thing at all.
  2. Please please please! Release the product as an early release on Steam! Let your devoted fans pay for the incomplete version, test it, play it, LOVE IT, and continue development until it is released as a completed version. I would pay the money just to have an early release on Steam.

There already is a dedicated testing team hard at work. Let's just enjoy the finished product once it hits the shells in April. Patience is a virtue.

  3. Out of curiosity. Is there a coding reason behind the (according to the Journal) apparent lack of ability for us to book a draw finish in battle royals still in TEW 2020? It's been lacking in the TEW series throughout the GDS era. And giving us the ability to book a battle royal to end on a double elimination seems like such an obvious thing to, it makes me wonder if it's just a coding limitation - and that I should stop suggesting it every year.
  4. Yea, I'm really looking forward to the Perception feature. Definitely one of my most looked forward to features announced for 2020. I think that it will fix a lot the nagging issues I've had with TEW, despite always really liking them. I hope it can somehow solve the issue of contextual popularity, as well. What I mean is, if a Kurt Angle joins a TNA, him jobbing to an AJ Styles there isn't the same as a Kurt Angle jobbing to a 2006 AJ Styles in WWE during the same era. Simulating this has never really felt possible in TEW because popularity is always absolute.

Casual gaming doesn't really teach you the speed tech. That's why speed games usually have tutorials, and communities than share knowledge. When I started running the Super Nintendo Mega Man X games way back when, I thought hey, I've beaten these games a million times, I'll know how to speedrun them. But lol, I really didn't. But the learning process is fun. As for which game you should pick, if you really are interested, it's a game you can play over and over and over. That's it, really.</p><p> </p><p> Anyway, not to venture too far offtopic, as far something like TEW speedrunning would go, I think the categories should be things like Local to Global, Local to Cult, and stuff mentioned in the above post. And I think it would use in-game time, as opposed to "real time". I think some shorter categories could actually be a pretty fun thing to look at.</p><p> </p><p> Of course, the unfortunate thing is, Adam would be quick to patch out any exploits that are discovered and shared on the forums. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> I'm just kidding.</p>

Their television has been so meaningless, with repeat matches and 50/50 booking and non-finishes, for so long that it's snuck into TEW. Makes running television-only promotions lame and plodding. <p> </p><p> TV is where you make stars. PPV is where you cash in. Or at least it was, before promotions earned the bulk of their money on TV deals.</p></div></blockquote><p> Oh for sure. I stopped watching WWE TV years ago. And this means full stop, nothing. WWE's television shows are so bad. They are actually bad television, bad entertainment. It's so damn bad, I actively wonder how they still somehow pull millions of watchers, despite the ratings going down. Like, what do the people still watching get from this company? I used to always watch at least the Rumble and Mania, last year was the first time since becoming a fan that I just skipped both. Watched no WWE programming all year.</p><p> </p><p> TEW is the only wrestling related thing I have any interest in. And I blame WWE's bad TV for my lack of interest that particular company; if the TV shows, meant to hype up PPVs, are unwatchable, how do I get hyped for PPVs? I don't.</p>
  7. It's basically the case of WWE losing its touch with the fans. What the WWE wants their Raw & SmackDown product to be and what the fans are looking for are two very different things. WWE still books as "PG Sports Entertainment", but in actuality ratings and show quality are falling, because fans aren't buying that anymore.

It's an important destinction most mods don't keep in mind. "Product" sets what kind of fanbase the company will have, not how it is actually booked by a Booker with a "Sports Entertainment" and "Look" bias. WWE's product is there, Classic Sports Entertainment, if you keep the falling fanbase in mind

Okay, first off, I want to say let's not have this devolve into one of those arguments, people are totally entitled to enjoy exactly the type of wrestling they enjoy. And I don't want to go offtopic too much, either, but I'll say a few things since it does have to do with my suggestion about products. But I'm not sure I totally agree with this statement. Granted, my WWE watching is limited at best these days. But I kinda keep up here and there. I just feel like WWE itself has put heavier emphasis on the actual in ring product, and the traditional sports-entertainment, while still there, has taken a backseat. At least when it comes to larger than life characters. Compare The Rock and Stone Cold to Seth Rollins and AJ Styles. And not taking anything away from Seth and AJ - well, at least AJ - but they're not quite The Rock and Stone Cold. The character that most wrestlers in WWE seem to have these days is "he is a good wrestler".

And I think this does cater to the fanbase that is there. It's just a different fanbase that it used to be. Because, in the past, the product was different, and it was aimed at a different demo. These days, the WWE seems to try to be some kind of weird sports-entertainment-modern indy wrestling hybrid thing kinda. I'm not really sure what the identity even is to be honest. From the entry products Adam listed, I'd say that WWE is a mix between the PG sports-entertainment and the Nerd Nirvana products. I think NXT is definitely Nerd Nirvana.

But then again I also echo what Self said above in that WWE is a weird beast in more ways than one, and perfectly replicating it to a video game like TEW is hard if not impossible. So idk.

  8. I'm bad with being creative with catchy names, but I'm not sure I found modern WWE represented there. I'm not one for modern day save files, but many are. The PG sports entertainment is obviously the closest, but I feel like emphasis on match quality has increased in the past five or so years. It's still PG sports entertainment, but the fanbase has really started to demand the indy style "good match" content. In my eyes, to the point where angles and matches are almost 50/50. Maybe 60/40 in favour of angles. Of course, I may be misunderstanding, having not played the game.

You should be able to have one per brand.</div></blockquote><p> I'd argue that the WWE has always only had one figurehead at a time, despite having multiple brands.</p>
  10. If there is not an alliance update somewhere near the end of the journal I will admit to be very disappointed. While I know we are in the live journal stage, if some of the major alliance upgrades that were expected or requested aren't even gonna make the list in some way or fashion, it is disappointing. So many great improvements, no doubt, and I love what was announced, but we all know regardless some are more looked for than others.

It's my understanding that the features have been announced and no new ones are getting in. What you see is what you get.
