1. That would be good news for me. I don't like having to switch back and forth between NXT and AEW.
2. What??? Wow, that's fascinating. I've always liked The Big Show.
3. I always enjoy The Miz because he's from Cleveland. I watched RAW last night (Monday, February 22) and I noticed that people were booing Sheamus. Why is that? I don't catch the show every week, so maybe I missed some sin that Sheamus committed. I don't mind Money in the Bank. It's an interesting hook upon which to hang a story.
4. It's disappointing to see that NXT and AEW are on TV at the same time.
5. Yes. Sorry, I mixed things up. There are a couple other family relationships as well.
6. I have never bought a WWE pay-per-view, but these days I watch Raw and Smackdown maybe every other week. The story lines are fascinating. It takes a lot of imagination to keep everything going. But I don't understand the Bray Wyatt line. I missed the time between his being head of a "family" and now. The firefly friends stuff is too bizarre for me. And Riddle is a little too wacky for me. One of the interesting things I've noticed when I recently looked up a number of wrestlers in wikipedia is how many of them are related. Nia Jax is a cousin of...is it Roman Reigns? And a bunch of other wrestlers are cousins. I'm always happy to see Rick Flair. And I was intrigued by the return of Goldberg. I wonder where that's going. Sheamus has been one of my favorites for a long time. A few years ago I saw him in a PSA against bullying. I thought that was pretty cool. I know some people don't take pro wrestling very seriously, but it's great entertainment and they really do have incredible athletic ability. Week after week after week you see somebody like Asuka flying around the ring taking and dishing out an astonishing amount of physical punishment. I don't know how they do it. Years ago on some program I saw a woman's elbow become dislocated. It was a gruesome sight.
7. I don't know about wrestling being cool or uncool. How do you define "cool"? I have watched wrestling on and off since the early 1970s. Here in Cleveland there was a TV show called Big Time Wrestling. I watched it. My uncles and all my friends watched it. There always seemed to be some kind of wrestling on TV. Johnny Powers, The Sweet Man, all those guys. Haystacks Calhoun, Andre the Giant. It was a lot of fun. I still watch wrestling now. Some wrestlers I like less than others, but that's the point, isn't it? Over the years I have found that I like wrestling less when there's a nationalistic or racial element. But overall, wrestling has been and still is a pleasant distraction from the problems of everyday life. For me, anyway.
8. Thank you! Maybe someone else would be kind enough to start it. As someone new to the world of MMA, I'm not qualified.
9. @ Adam - Would it be acceptable to create a thread devoted to MMA history and news? Some of us who enjoy WMMA5 are new to the world of MMA and might like a place to go to for discussions about the sport, its history, news, etc. The other day there was an article in my phone's MSN news feed about some surgically-enhanced woman in UFC who is being dropped after a series of losses. And I think the same article [or maybe a different one] said the fellow who runs UFC is going to cut the roster. It was interesting to me because I didn't realize that things you can do in-game actually happen in real life. I wonder how UFC and its titles can be considered legitimate and worth fighting for when fighters can be dropped seemingly at random. Do UFC fighters make a lot of money? Why risk your health if you aren't making a lot of money? I understand how boxing works, with all its absurd alphabet sanctioning bodies. But I'm still learning how the world of MMA works. I would like to be educated. Maybe others would, too. I see UFC fights on TV, but there is also something called Shogun Fights. Is this a big company? How many companies are there? How can each one of them claim to have "world" champions? If it's not appropriate to create such a thread here, that's ok. Just thought I would ask.
10. On our old computer I had a fictional save going. I agree that fictional is really fun. Right now I have two saves going. One is with the Cavaliers starting in 1988. Back then we had those great teams with Mark Price, Brad Daugherty, John "Hot Rod" Williams, etc. The first season, things went very much like they did in real life back then. The Cavs made the playoffs but just could not overcome Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Amazingly, the in-game players behaved mostly as they did in real life. Except maybe for Mark Price. He didn't shoot as much from 3-point range, and I had one game where he got 2 technical fouls. In real life, Mark Price was and is a committed Christian who never let his temper take over during a game. My other save is with the Cavaliers starting in 2003, the year we drafted LeBron James. I want to try to win a championship before 2016. I know that playing historical gives you an advantage because you know what players are going to be good, but it's still fun. As in real life, center Zydrunas Ilgauskas (one of the most beloved players ever to play for the Cavs) has had trouble staying healthy. So I traded for Ben Wallace, and as my center he has been a rebounding machine. Zydrunas is a bench player for now. I am going to start a fictional game so I can make use of my draft classes from FBCB. That should be fun--watching players from their college days through the NBA.
11.

Well, it's a text based game, most of them don't have any sound included...

Title Bout Championship Boxing, Out of the Park Baseball, Franchise Hockey Manager, Football Manager (even back in the day, before the game day part of it went 3D) have crowd sounds. So do the Wolverine text-based sports management games. Mind you, I strongly prefer text-based sports management games--I have no interest at all in 3D graphics. I prefer to use my imagination. But crowd sounds during fights would be logical for a text-based game about a combat sport like MMA.

12. Why doesn't the game have sound during fights? Or maybe it does and I've just missed it somehow. The other day I was playing and my next door neighbor was in her driveway talking really loud, and I wished I could just sit back with a beer and "watch" some WMMA5 fights with the crowd sounds turned up loud enough to drown her out.
13. I play this game all year, but when the NBA draft comes along I become even more interested. This is still a solid, enjoyable game. Small footprint, realistic stats and game results, and it lets me do what I enjoy most: manage in-game minutes, set lineups and make trades. I have been lucky because I have had none of the crash problems others have reported. It would be so great if there could be an updated roster file. But I realize that is probably never going to happen. Still, what a great game this is!
14. In my current SIGMA game in WMMA5, my big problem is that other companies keep signing away my fighters. I can't get to know them because they are never around long enough. My belt holders don't stick around for more than 1 defense. I have been signing a lot of guys recommended by the advisor, even the not-so-good ones, just so I can have enough fighters to continue to run regular shows. Any suggestions on how to keep fighters around? Right now they won't sign exclusive contracts. Will they sign exclusive contracts if SIGMA gets more popular? I have a save in WMMA3 where I play GAMMA.
15. Thanks. I will stick to the default game for now. For one thing, I don't know many MMA fighters anyway, so having a real-world mod won't mean much to me. Another thing, I see that many if not most of the mods are on mediafire and not hosted here by Grey Dog. I am very reluctant to click on a link and download something from a site I know very little about. It's ok, though. This is an amazing game as-is. Every time I play I am discovering new features. I have no idea why I started with SIGMA when I first began playing WMMA3. Oh well. Right now I have a WMMA3 save as GAMMA and a WMMA5 save as SIGMA. I just discovered that my SIGMA can have shows in London, which is more lucrative than Germany! And I just signed a PPV deal with some company or other. Very interesting.
16. Creating events, trying to find interesting matchups, these things really fascinate me.
17. I was wondering how many events per month everyone is running. Does it depend on how big your organization is? Or how many fighters you have available? For some reason with WMMA3 and now with WMMA5 I started with SIGMA. I don't remember why I thought it was the default "starter" company. I always run 2 events per month, on a Friday or Saturday. Does it matter which day you have your events? How many fights do you schedule per event? I have been doing 5 or 6. As I get a feel for WMMA5 (and I'm really enjoying the process!), I'm just curious about how others do things.
18. Thank you! After some poking around I was able to view the fight--I was wondering where it was, but then found that it was listed under "preliminaries." And after some more poking around I saw that I can delete that particular fight. So, the event can go on, I assume.
19. I have an event scheduled for a Monday. I got a Sunday email saying one fighter pulled out due to an injury. How can I get this fighter a new fight? Nobody else in the remaining fighter's weight class will take the fight on 1-day notice. His fight shows up on the list of fights for the next day event, but his opponent is "to be announced." I can't advance the game, and I don't know how to delete the "canceled" fight. I assume the "to be announced" fighter would be some local tomato can, but how do you find one?
20. @zenification - Yes, that's me on the OOTP/TBCB forum. I've been a member there for a really long time, maybe since 2002. Playing WMMA3 and the demo of WMMA5 I can't help but think that if TBCB had some of those features...wow! But I'm 63 years old and I know there is not going to be a boxing sim like that in my lifetime. I have been playing WMMA3 on our new (February 2020) computer. I am getting much more deeply into it than I did back when I bought it. Discovering features every day. And I am really enjoying the WMMA5 demo. I read the "new features" section of the WMMA5 demo and I'm really, really impressed, although I like the "look" of WMMA3 a little more. The darker colors, the octagon-shapes, etc. All of the things you mention about WMMA5 are things that really make it attractive. Matchmaking, the option for automatic contracts, seeing who hasn't fought in a certain amount of time... I'm going to buy the game today. The only thing I don't like about WMMA3 and WMMA5 is the fighter illustrations. They are a little too "cartoony" for me. But of course, many MMA fighters look "cartoony" in real life, haha. One thing I love about the description of WMMA5 is that there is no real "winning." You play for the fun experience of managing a company, managing your own MMA universe. And I also love the fact that WMMA3 and WMMA5 use fonts that are easy to read. Fonts for game data, fonts for in-fight commentary. I have a big, big problem with the fonts used in Wolverine's sports management games. Their games give me eye strain and headaches. I have been watching MMA on TV a bit more lately. Last week or weekend I saw a series of fights by someone called Anderson Silva. Pretty impressive. Last night [October 26] there was a fight by two guys, I forgot the names, that was mostly grappling, with one guy repeatedly stomping on the other's foot. Not interesting at all. The fights with women were good, although I am not a fan of women in boxing or MMA. I don't know much about MMA. I know a little about Conor McGregor, and I enjoy his very entertaining whiskey commercials. Maybe hanging around this forum will help me learn. I hope nobody will laugh at my dumb questions! Here's one: at the start of the game, is the universe populated by real fighters? In both WMMA3 and WMMA5, I have started out by running SIGMA. Is this the default beginner company? What company do most people start with?
21. I have WMMA3 and have played it off and on over the years. I am playing around now with the demo for WMMA5. Can someone who has played both games compare them? What are the improvements? Why is WMMA5 a better game? I am more of a boxing fan and not very familiar with the world of MMA, although I watch MMA bouts on TV from time to time. That is why I am asking you guys to evaluate this game. Is WMMA5 a realistic simulation of the MMA world? For those who have played WMMA3 and WMMA5, are you happy with version 5? Is it immersive? Are there things that WMMA3 does better? Thanks in advance for any replies.
22. Just wondering if anyone out there has put together any more recent roster files. I'm also wondering how difficult it would be...
23. I strongly suggest that you go to the OOTP forum, scroll down to the bottom, and look through the Title Bout Championship Boxing section. Read what people who bought TBCB 2013 have said about it. I bought it, and it was money wasted.
24. If anyone wants to buy TBCB, make sure you buy version 2.5. The "latest" version, 2013, was made by the guy who now owns the TBCB franchise. Version 2013 is a disaster. TBCB 2.5 is quite fun. I play it even now, and I recommend it highly. The game is "dead," but there is a nice group of guys on the forum who regularly rate fighters. They are serious boxing fans, and the game can be used to recreate historic bouts and even predict current bouts. You can also easily create fictional fighters and run your own universe, with your own rules, thereby bypassing all the silly alphabet organizations. If you use your imagination a little, TBCB 2.5 is flexible enough to be really, really fun.
