The surprise comes as a shock as many speculated back in November that the promotion's December pay-per-view <em>Psycho Circus</em> would be its last, citing now debunked rumors of outside companies (namely Canada Wrestling Alliance and Burning Hammer) buying TCW to establish a foothold in the American wrestling scene. </p><p> </p><p> It also did not help that the Steve DeColt, current patriarch of the DeColt Family upon the recent passing of his father, Canadian wrestling legend, George DeColt, fanned the flames and showed interest in buying TCW's ashes. </p><p> </p><p> "You know I was rooting for them [TCW], thinking this was going to be the year they step out from the shadows of the other two [uSPW and SWF]. But the ratings are low, the pay-per-view buys are poor, they lost all their major stars; the entire company is on life support and I think with a little revamping it could turn itself around. Such a shame the way it all turned out, that roster has potential. I'd love to work with them." </p><p> </p><p> DeColt then clarified in a later interview with Total Extreme Wrestling News that he was joking. Though when asked on what he thought about a former CGC wrestler and 3x CGC Canadian Champion purchasing a rival company, DeColt had this to say: "Not many wrestlers are able to find themselves with the good fortune after retirement, just look at Whisky Jack. So, Dutch is lucky. Question is <em>how lucky.</em>" </p><p> </p><p> Though there were reports of BriCo Toy Company executives entertaining the idea of selling the promotion to "one of their competition" to offset a number of financial issues.
