  1. Well, that's a pattern I wouldn't have anticipated, but it explains things. Yeah, some of NJPW's events for 2001 do take place at the beginning of the month, and there may be a misalignment. Okay, the solution is definitely to switch to Fixed and manually put in the tour dates. Thanks. Appreciate the answer, because it always bugs me when things appear to make no sense.
  2. I've got NJPW set to generate preset tours. I've also got a series of Events programmed into the editor. One for each month. The tours generate and work fine, but the game will sometimes randomly generate an event, meaning there'll be two major shows for that month. There's no random new event generated for May, September, and October, but there is one for June, July, August, November, and December. I mean, if I have to, I'll just scrap the whole thing and slog through a Fixed schedule, but I can't find any pattern to it. What rules is the game even following?
  3. Simming in 2001, I always figured the problem was that a "small" women's division is defined in terms of 2020 sensibilities. The AI for WWF will immediately hire somewhere between 10-15 women to a historically accurate division, when maybe another 4-5 is all they need.
  4. Still, the one thing I miss from the old EWR game is that every wrestler had the option of a debut angle, and they often gained overness based on that debut. Whether it's a big name from another company defecting, or a new character with a cleverly written vignette establishing their character, that first appearance can pop a crowd or get them interested. Hell, these days MOST of the big crowd reactions are some variation of this.
  5. It is more manageable this way. But I do agree, in particular, the South East region incorporating both Memphis AND Florida isn't really an accurate depiction of the wrestling scene. They were completely separate. On the other hand, I can see lumping in Florida and Georgia; that's fine. Georgia wrestling was kind of a satellite of Florida. Then you take Kentucky, which TEW 2020 labels as part of Mid Atlantic -- they're more of a satellite of the Memphis scene, also acting as a bridge to Ohio and the Great Lakes. Oh well. I think, ultimately, the solution is either to leave the thing unchanged or add Memphis as its own separate territory.
  6. Definitely. Every now and then I discover a contract with no picture because of a news story with a blank.
  7. That'd definitely cut down on the busywork in my 2001 mod, when 2002 rolls around. I already have systems in place to change WWF to WWE and all the PPVs (adding NEW retitled PPVs that begin in 2002 or 3), but the TV shows and titles have to be changed manually still, more work for the player.
  8. Oh, yeah. What did the old WCCW call it.... in the days before hardcore, going back to the '50s, they had a "Brass Knuckles" Championship, emphasis on the brawling.
  9. I've been doing research on small real-world arenas as used by wrestling companies, and mixed in with the theaters, high school gyms and Elks Lodges are a lot of facilities owned and kept profitable by wrestling schools. It might make things feel more realistic if every training facility were given the option box of "can be used as an arena" and a little slider from, say, 50 to 1000 max for capacity. As far as I can tell, oftentimes the "wrestling company" is little more than a front for the moneymaking scheme of the school.
  10. We've got a good selection of ways to narrow down what stables can consist of, so anything with "Trio" can be specified as "Three people," or anything with "Girls" can be specified as "Female," or anything with "Tokyo" can be specified as "Japan." I'd like a box called "Required Leader," initially set to "None," but able to access all workers. This way we can list out potential stables, some historical, some ahistorical, that are patterned after their leader. "Jericho Appreciation Society" for Chris Jericho, "Deadman Inc." for Undertaker, "Straight Edge Society" for CM Punk, "The Flock" for Raven, or potentially anything that occurs to a mod-maker. "The Swiss Army" for Claudio Castagnoli, maybe. "Sweeney Productions" for Larry Sweeney.

  12. To help the Power 500 seem more worldly, give a boost to any competitor who held the top title in a company during the year, the longer the reign, the bigger the boost. The world champion of the #2 company should probably be in the Top 10 even if the #1 company has the most popular stars, or at least that's what I've grown accustomed to in the PWI 500. (Acknowledging the PWI 500 has a lot of flaws.)

  14. Big props for 1.35 that already includes more European diversity than before. I'm finally seeing Polish, Hungarian, and other nationalities appear, so finally all those unique names I added to my generator are being used. Love it. But yeah, it'd be nice if people from, say, China, Indonesia, Nigeria, Brazil, places that aren't even used in the sim, would appear as students in the dojos occasionally. Just because I've been doing my best to fill my mod with suitable names.
  15. In the Business section for workers, whether it's in Style Preference or a separate tab of its own, I'd like to suggest Women's Wrestling as an option, so that they'll only be opening women's feds. I suggest this because my mod has a lot of the Japanese female workers from the late '90s and 2000s, and many of the workers would go on to become trainers or owners, but only within the realm of women's wrestling. It's not likely Nanae Takahashi would go on to open Dragon Gate.
  16. I'm going through my worker database, attempting to assign attributes that classify workers according to their willingness to take bumps, risk injury, etc. Every time I start the task, I run into this wall of confusion, not knowing which attribute is appropriate. Many seem to overlap. Daredevil: always willing to take crazy bumps Fearless: willing to take crazy bumps, but is relatively smart about turning them down etc. Risk Taker: willing to take crazy bumps, but is very smart about turning them down etc. Stuntman: willing to take stunt bumps, but draws the line at crazy No Stunts: never agrees to take crazy or stunt bumps Well, okay. Sounds like these should be mutually exclusive. You can't ALWAYS be willing and NOT always be willing, but you can assign both of these to a worker, and they won't replace each other. You can even assign Stuntman and No Stunts to the same guy. Many mods I've noticed will assign a combination of these 5, especially Daredevil+Fearless. Is this meant to be the case? How do you guys work with these attributes? Deathmatch Wrestler: always willing to do deathmatches Will Risk Injury: will never turn down matches for injury concerns These are a little less confusing, and I'm going through the history of deathmatches and hardcore wrestling to make sure all the psychopaths and bleeders and lightbulb match guys are properly attributed, but what's the difference between risking "injury" and risking a "crazy bump"? Just looking for more clarity. Anybody who mods a lot, let me know how you deal with these or how you've thought about them.
  17. Here's an example. "Jan." Let's say I want "Jan" to be a female name in the US, UK, and Australia, but I also want "Jan" to be a male name in Slavic countries. But I don't want male Jans generating in the Anglosphere. Or let's say I want "Dan" to be used as a surname, but only in China. Can there be a way to include two entries for the same name, using a different and non-overlapping usage?
  18. Suggestion for either the next TEW or a future update, a means of identifying companies (with an on/off checkbox or otherwise) as what I'm calling a "fly-by-night" company. This would be a way to implement a type of company that I can't seem to designate using current TEW rules. There are 3 real-life examples of this type of company I can name. 1. WWA World Wrestling All-Stars (based in Australia) 2. NWE New (or "Nu") Wrestling Entertainment (based in Italy) 3. Hulkamania! (a tour based in Australia) A fly-by-night company will have a relatively low popularity, but will be able to throw money around and get popular stars on its roster, far above the ability of any other company at their level. The cost will be to longevity. These companies will go out of business within 1-3 years, even if they somehow manage to become profitable. The profits will simply be pocketed by the owners and top talent, and the company will disintegrate. However, it's unlikely the business model will result in anything but early bankruptcy, by design. The entire project is shady from the beginning, exploiting volunteers and probably leaving lower-tier workers unpaid, but they might be able to produce a few decent shows and sell enough videos and merch to keep the investors happy. Fly-by-night companies can end in 3 different ways: 1. Bankruptcy, the most common. They'll be overpaying their top talent beyond reason. 2. Despite being profitable, the ownership will simply take the money and run, leaving the company to fold. 3. The ownership will take almost all the money in the company's coffers and sell to a new owner. The NEW owner will then operate the company by normal game rules, and the "fly-by-night" status will be removed. They'll probably fire all the overpaid talent the next day and hire a bunch of indy workers, maybe capitalizing on the prestige of the titles to elevate new stars, but probably going bankrupt soon after.
  19. News stories of a show being canceled are always accompanied by a blank or generic picture rather than the picture used by the show itself. Apparently, the file with the pic is deleted before the news story is generated. Might want to reverse that somehow, so the news story is generated with the proper picture before the show gets deleted.
  20. Nah, you can delete the most recent champs and leave the previous history. Just remember to redefine the current champ in the title section.
  21. As I'm going through and adjusting the art in my mod, adding new pics and deleting bad ones, I find it's easy to double-check whether Workers are picture-less, but sometimes one of the bad pics I delete turns out to be used as an Ager or a Contract. Alter Egos can be checked for this problem, but not Agers or Contracts.
  22. That might be useful. In my 2001 mod, I filled in my 2000 Power 500 by using the PWI 500 as a baseline, adding a few of the missing workers, and then when it got to guys I couldn't possibly add, I just started rearranging it, improvising with the wrestlers that I could actually use
  23. In my 2001 I've noticed that WWA, which is a smallish company that forms in Australia soon after the mod starts, almost never uses its World Title. The AI generates tag titles for the company and then literally NEVER uses them. I've got it set as a Preset Tours company, and most of the Tour shows end up being tag matches, but no title defenses at all. I've also tried tweaking the WWA World Title usage to being defended "Often" on Tours, and it never happens. WWA also has PPVs mixed in with their tours, and they will occasionally use their World Title on those, but nowhere near enough. WWA should be showcasing their title and champ. A few other companies have this problem, but WWA is kinda my bellweather. Am I doing something wrong, or is this an issue with TEW2020? (Edit/Update) Oh. TNA. NWA:TNA hasn't been using their World Title properly since I switched them to a Weekly PPV model. That was kinda the thing that made the issue intolerable.
  24. The latest patch seems to have addressed this problem. I'm definitely noticing it in how high-potential workers aren't squandered by AI booking as badly as before.
  25. I've noticed a difference in my mod from 2016 to 2020, and yes, younger workers have a more difficult time working their way up the ladder with the 2020 AI, even if they have the highest possible potential. I sim my 2001 mod 20 years into the future frequently to see how things shake out. Using 2016 Randy Orton, CM Punk, and Hiroshi Tanahashi become main-eventers despite having no events to boost their popularity. Using 2020 they always stagnate.
