My suggestion is just an attempt to offer something that carries some of the organizational benefits that went with the old system without meaningfully changing anything that's going on under the hood.</p>
  2. I'm a fan of the new Perception system. I think it's neat, and it does exactly what it's intended to do! But I also understand the point of view of players who are either used to the old push-based system or miss the ability to use it to organize their roster. My suggestion is that the existing Divisions system gets slightly expanded to allow for up to three keywords to be used to describe any given worker, and that the list of keywords be updated to include terms like Main Eventer, Midcarder, Enhancement Talent, etc. This would allow for a sort of substitute for players missing the old push system and would also expand the usability of the division system, since you could now (for example) categorize a cruiserweight as a member of your hardcore division or a member of your women's division as a woman, a main eventer, and an invader.
  3. Could we get a checkbox or something that allows for a narrative to stop a player's auto-advance? I think this would be useful for highlighting very important events and being sure the player doesn't miss them.
  4. I don't think people realize just how much of a false choice the pre-2020 product settings were. There were a couple of "cheat" products in the old system, but the products available (and especially the implementation of a core product) ensure meaningful choices and distinctive differences between promotions in a way that the old product setting system didn't. And this isn't helped by the number of people taking aim at the new product system because of the issues they have with individual products. I think it's weird that the Golden Age product has a more even split between matches and angles than the Silver Age product, but that kind of tweak is the easiest thing in the world to make and I'm sure will turn up in a patch at or near release. It's not a reason to scrap an entire core game system.
  5. I've been doing a lot of staring into the middle distance and sighing wistfully. Also: planning for a very ambitious modding project.
  6. It warms my heart to see that the first new thread in the 2020 subforum is about Lobster Warrior.

  8. Popularity has a kind of momentum to it. Once a guy is popular enough he gets to be kind of bulletproof. There's a couple of ways to deal with this: 1.) You can have your aging stars lose a bunch of matches to younger guys, but this will probably kill their morale. Aging main eventers tend to have a lot of Respect, which means that their bad morale can have a larger than normal impact on your backstage environment. This is less than ideal. 2.) You can let their contracts run out. If you're just looking to stop using your aging stars, maybe just send them on vacation until their contracts come up. The downside here, obviously, is that it gives another promotion a chance to pick them up down the road. 3.) Ignore the listed push for your aging stars and find alternative uses for them. Stick a guy with good mic skills in a weekly interview show or give him a spot on the announce team. Take a ring general and stick him in a tag team with a rookie who needs to work on the basics, then protect him by letting the rookie eat the pin. 4.) Send your older stars down to a development territory as trainers or even as bookers. Some have the personality to enjoy this and others don't. 5.) As a comedy option, go full the carnie hell show route with burials and screwjobs to give wins to your new guys at the expense of your older talent, turning your entire locker room against you and getting the downsides of all of the above listed options.
  9. Like piccamo said, you can put a new guy into high profile angles and tag team matches. Doing this stuff will get your guy to a "natural" push around the lower midcard within a couple of weeks of shows, if he wasn't there already. From there it's pretty easy to move a new guy up the card with a higher profile wins so long as you're not afraid of hurting the feelings of a couple of midcarders. Even doing this, though, it might take three to four months before one of your top guys is willing to lose to your new Razor Ramon without complaint. That isn't necessarily unrealistic, though, and your established stars may either need to just tough it out or accept a bonus after the show in exchange for a hit to their popularity.
  10. <p><strong>That 80s Guy</strong>- The epitome of 80s excess. This worker will see improved gains in popularity and performance so long as he's using steroids OR hard drugs.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>That 90s Guy</strong>- The epitome of 90s edginess. This worker cuts significantly better promos in promotions with risque content, but the shine comes off when he's in more mainstream promotions. More likely to develop substance abuse problems.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>That 00s Guy</strong>- The epitome of 00s workrate. This worker's in-ring performance is slightly higher than his stats might otherwise indicate, but he suffers accelerated wear and tear on his body.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Social Media Wildcard</strong>- This worker is a guaranteed social media user, and is more likely to experience the extreme effects brought on by social media use.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Late Career Problems (aka The Hogan Effect)</strong>- Upon reaching the end of his relevance, this worker becomes significantly more likely to be involved in scandals.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Late Bloomer</strong>- This worker won't hit his creative peak until relatively late in his career.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Real Late Starter</strong>- This non-wrestler will develop in-ring skills over time and eventually be available for hire as an active wrestler.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Champion Material</strong>- This worker has the aura of a champion. Any belt held by this worker sees a small boost in prestige with each defense.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ham and Egger</strong>- This worker has made a career off of making others look good. Anyone victorious against this worker in a match sees slightly greater benefits from their win.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Future Announcer/Referee/Manager/Whatever</strong>- Upon retirement, this worker will attempt to seek further employment in the industry under the selected role, and receive a bump to relevant abilities to be a viable hire in that position. (Either make this a series of mutually exclusive checkboxes or allow for the worker to have an equal chance of taking on any of the checked roles.)</p><p> </p><p> <strong>While The Getting Is Good</strong>- This worker goes straight from "Active Wrestler" to "Out of the Business" on the date of his or her retirement.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Candle In The Wind</strong>- This worker is destined to die young.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>The Naked Emperor</strong>- For as long as this worker is an active wrestler, the AI will hire and push him as though he is significantly (50 popularity or more) better than he actually is. A major scandal or particularly low-rated main event performance may be able to shake this attribute.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>They Keep Pulling Me Back In</strong>- This "Out of the Business" or "Retired Wrestler" may re-enter the business if market conditions make it look like they'd be a viable candidate for hiring.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Look At All This Money I Have</strong>- This worker will not become pregnant.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Company Man</strong>- When working as a booker, this worker will try to book toward the biases of the company owner. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Misunderstood Genius</strong>- When working as a booker, this worker is more likely to come into conflict with his company owner.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Climber</strong>- This worker will apply for open leadership positions in larger promotions even if currently employed.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>I'll Show Them</strong>- If he has the available money, this worker's response to being fired might very well be to start his own promotion.</p><p> </p><p> Others have suggested this one, but here's my take:</p><p> <strong>Tag Team Specialist</strong>- This worker is more likely to have positive chemistry with tag team partners. Any tag team containing this worker accumulates experience slightly faster.</p>

  13. Same for me. I managed to turn TNA into a fairly dignified promotion by running Edge (poached from WWE to be my Hulk Hogan) against a cast of heels including CM Punk, Dustin Rhodes, Samoa Joe, and Sean Waltman. My tag division was dominated by the unlikely team of D'Lo Brown and Josh Barnett, who were just supposed to be Jarrett's enforcers but turned out to have fantastic chemistry.
  14. First off, this year's incarnation of the mod is better than any prior version. Really enjoying it. One problem with the mod that I've noticed, and I don't know how to fix it while maintaining "historical accuracy," is that there's not a large number of attractive women willing to work in non-wrestling roles. This can really hurt promotions like DAVE unless they go on day one hiring sprees.
  15. And if you can't trust noted poet Brooke Hogan, who can you trust?
  16. It absolutely impacts my enjoyment of his work, although my view of Hogan has been tarnished for a while now due to his past several decades of behavior offscreen. Hulk Hogan the character is supposed to be the Real American. That gimmick doesn't work so well when the man portraying it represents a side of America that was better left behind in the previous century.
  17. Yeah. When you think about it, there's better ways to make an argument than "Let me compare the guy I'm defending to a known murderer."
  18. Booker Huffman was playing Booker T, the character. Vincent Kennedy McMahon was playing Mr. McMahon, the character. Terry Bollea was speaking as Terry Bollea.
  19. Or he's saying that WWE is trying to avoid the media backlash that would come from having their brand associated with Hogan at this time, and they'll probably make up and sign a new contract in a couple of years when this has blown over.
  20. Yes, but that was at a time when he wasn't pushing a TV-PG product with a Mattel toy deal. The context is also clearly different.
  21. Saw The Hobbit. I really enjoyed it, but one movie in they already incorporated forty minutes of filler and are still halfway through the book. The only realistic way this trilogy is going to be paced is if the second movie includes a two hour detour through Fillertown.
  22. Anyone have thoughts on this? http://www.cagesideseats.com/2011/2/11/1988877/a-closer-look-at-how-the-tna-office-handles-outside-bookings
  23. It's funny because it's accurate. Except for that part about Orton's crap in a bag. I feel that it relies too much on rest holds.
  24. If Randy Orton is an apex predator, does that mean that removing him from the roster would cause the ecosystem to be flooded with Evan Bournes?
