  1. Old article, but: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2009/09/playstation3_and_the_yellow_li.html Brief snippet: "If this failure had occurred in the first 12 months after purchase, Sony would have replaced the customer's console without charge, but since the problem appears to be affecting consoles after 18-24 months of use, and therefore outside of the warranty period, Sony say it's not liable. Sony does offer a solution, by offering customers a refurbished machine in return for their faulty one. Up until late August 2009, the company charged £145 for this service, but that price has since been reduced to £128. As part of this charge, not only do customers receive a console that is as good as new, they get a door to door courier collection and delivery service. Sony says it makes no profit from the facility, and in fact make a loss." I've known a few people get the RROD with the 360, but they haven't been charged one penny. Sony or Microsoft support...? Microsoft is better, in my experience. Also, I can't remember what the fault was, but wasn't there a mass PS3 meltdown because of something simple to do with the clock (or something) recently?
  2. 45 minutes would've been 44 minutes 59 seconds too long for me. I went from the Mega Drive/Genesis to PC to the N64, I skipped the Saturn and PS. The Saturn was insanely expensive and the PS was even more expensive if you actually worked out the cost. Sony had a great marketing strategy though so the PS sold more. My PS2 stopped playing DVDs, "That's fine as I can still play games on it", I said. Then one fateful day in the middle of summer, a boiling hot day combined with an extremely bad day at work I came home to sit down and play some PS2 to chill out... the game froze as it was loading. I tried it a few more times, and with different games, same thing. So I carefully unplugged all the wires, took it outside and stomped a mudhole in it's ass. The picture was taken because my friend didn't actually believe me. That's because the PS3 has the Yellow Light of Death. See above. I forgot about Fable, loved it. I could never get into Fable 2 for some reason though, maybe it was "Morrowind Syndrome" again? *high five*
  3. But you did say you love RPG's... The PS3 has had it's fare share of faults too ya know. The very first console I had break down on me was my PS2, so I put my foot through it: http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g115/TheUndertakersGraveyard/Misc/PS2.jpg I haven't bought, and wont buy, a Sony product again. It actually says alot about the products of today when they don't last as long as they could due to money hungry companies. My first Commodore 64 still works 20+ years later, as does the TV I used to play it on. I'm not a fan of the "Japanese style", if that makes any sense. I simply can not stand Anime either. To me, Morrowind was like nothing else i'd ever played before; go where you want, do what you want, when you want. I dread to think of the hours i've put into playing Morrowind. I was extremely excited when Oblivion was looming on the horizon, but when I played it the magic of Morrowind was missing somehow. Whether it was because I was older, it was more of the same, or I lacked the time and patience I had when playing Morrowind, I don't know.
  4. Lack of support? Call them up, "RROD? Send it to us and we'll fix it/replace it". That's good support in my eyes.
  5. I don't like RPG games, but there are occasions (like I previously mentioned) that have RPG-like elements which catch my attention.
  6. Still got my NES, SNES, N64, Game Cube and Wii. (oddly though, i'm more of a Sega fanboy simply due to the MegaDrive/Genesis) My Xbox controllers don't weigh twenty pounds, I use wired controllers. Only RPG-like games i've played in recent years are Knights of the Old Republic, Morrowind and Oblivion. I'd rather scratch my eyes out than play Final Fantasy games, obviously millions disagree with me though. From what i've read and seen of the gameplay, it's what the Smackdown vs Raw series should be aiming for as it's closer to No Mercy on the N64. I saw one of the "new features" of the new SvsR game will be the ability to throw weapons... you could do that back in 2000 (or whenever it was) on No Mercy.
  7. Better selection of games. Streaming media. Xbox Live. A controller that doesn't give you "The Claw" after using it for ten minutes. Of the comparisons i've seen on Gamespot where games are on both formats, the Xbox usually wins. Just because the console is more powerful doesn't mean anything, unless the game developers take advantage of that. You get what you pay for. I've heard countless stories of PS3 owners complaining about lag or not being able to get into games.
  8. Literally just finished watching NXT. Did no-one else notice the huge goof made by Michael Tarver when they talked to the previously eliminated rookies after the triple threat? Striker: Who do you think should be eliminated and why? Tarver: One thing's for sure, whether i'm in this chair or in that ring, I am the product. But if I had to choose anybody...... I would choose me. Striker: *says nothing but has a WTF look on his face* I laughed so hard I think a little pee came out. When Striker talked to the rest of the guys he changed it to, "Who should WIN NXT and why?".
  9. If memory serves, ECW was getting equal/better regular ratings than Impact! was. If they can pull the plug on that, who's to say they wont do the same on Superstars? Exactly.
  10. Whilst I don't know the Sci-Fi (I refuse to spell it any other way) schedule, it would be interesting to see if they moved Smackdown to compete with the repeat of Impact! on Thursdays. (which generally gets higher ratings) As over as Orton is, he's still nowhere near the levels of 'Taker. Smackdown needs someone of his status even if he is on a "he may appear" schedule. And as old as he is, he's still had the two best Wrestlemania matches of the past two years. Obviously some credit has to go to HBK, but it takes two to Tango.
  11. Can't see it happening. Raw is the Triple H show and Smackdown is the Undertaker show, even though he doesn't appear all that often. Last time I saw Smackdown (can't remember when that was ), the opening video featured 'Taker at the beginning and the end (is that still the case?) of the montage. That's no coincidence in my book.
  12. Glad i'm not the only one who noticed that. Triple-threat, not a three-way dance! He said it at least twice too. That also brings me to Michael Cole: "Twist of Fate off the top of the ladder"... ummmm... Christian gave Matt Hardy a reverse DDT off the ladder. Do I believe my eyes or what Michael Cole tells me. Michael Cole has no place being the lead announcer for any event, let alone Wrestlemania. Random Michael Cole bashing:"I've NEVER seen Batista/Cena go to the top rope before!"... even though he called it the last time they did it.
  13. Brief thoughts: - John Morrison And R-Truth Vs. ShowMiz Not nearly good enough to be the opening (Wrestlemania) match. - Randy Orton Vs. Cody Rhodes Vs. Ted DiBiase The problem with these matches is that I find it hard to suspend my disbelief that two people can't beat the snot out of one person. We've all seen the Face vs two Heels in the past and then the Heels squabble over who gets the pinfall/submission. Lazy booking. In my opinion, Ted DiBiase could be a huge star and I thought this would be his launch pad. Sadly not. - Ten Man Money In The Bank Ladder Match Not sure where all the hate is coming from for this match. I thought it was good, typical MITB ladder matchy stuff going on and a laughter moment watching Kofi use the ladders as stilts... although Swagger taking forever to unhook the briefcase was painful to watch... as was Swagger actually getting the win. - Triple H Vs. Sheamus Everything was OK here, nothing to write home about though. - Rey Mysterio Vs. CM Punk Rey wins. Meh. I've seen small people beat (much) larger people in MMA fights, but I still can't believe in Rey Mysterio considering he's knee-high to a midget. - Bret Hart Vs. Vince McMahon I wasn't expecting a classic but, as has been said, poorly booked. There were times when Bret hit Vince with the chair and it looked like Vince wasn't expecting it/fearing for his life. (the mini-crowbar segment was terrible) I'm glad Bret got one final Wrestlemania moment (love the Hitman) but it went on waaaaaaay too long and Bret's main problem was balance. (obviously not his fault though) - Chris Jericho © Vs. Edge Still not seeing what everyone else sees in Edge. I'll admit Edge can put on a decent match but this was below par for what I was expecting. - 10-Diva Tag Team Match Awful. Just awful. Not only that, Vickie Guerrero actually got a pop (unless my ears were deceiving me) when she did the Eddie tribute while on the top turnbuckle. - Batista © Vs. John Cena Considering the two people involved, I thought it was quite good. When Cena almost launched Batista out of the stadium with the FU (it's not the "Attitude Adjustment", WWE) I almost smiled. - Shawn Michaels Vs. The Undertaker Great. Not as good as last year, but still the match of the night.
  14. HBK/Undertaker - Am I the only one who thinks this should've been a casket match? - With Taker being the "master of mind games" they could've used a casket in the build-up to play off the fact HBK was put on the shelf for a few years because of one. - It'd be symbolic for 'Your career will/your streak will rest in peace'. When Taker said, 'On one condition', I was sure it was going to be a casket match... but after I was just left thinking, 'Eh?' I'm hoping it'll just be a one on one match with no interference, but it stands a chance something's going to happen. Although if Bret interferes, which leads to HBK losing, i'd probably giggle like a schoolgirl. (if HBK wins i'm gonna fly to Connecticut and pee through Vince's letterbox)
  15. Right there with ya. But wasn't Ashley asked (sent) to appear so that the WWE could get some more publicity by one of their employees working elsewhere? Correct me if i'm wrong, because I can't remember, but wasn't Ashely released after her appearance on Survivor? Mickie James has done a country music cd recently, and they haven't released her. Releasing Maria seems... odd, especially just before Wrestlemania. Whilst i've never been a huge Maria fan, she has improved (well, she couldn't get any worse) in the ring over time so that she could have an at least watchable match. Plus she did have the bubbly/giggly personality during the backstage interview stuff. Gail Kim can work (as i'm sure we can agree - although Remianen will probably choke on his Cheerio's hearing that ) but she hardly gets any pop from the crowd at all, whilst Maria could make an appearance talking about Quantum Physics and she'd still get a pop from the crowd.
  16. I agree whole-heartedly. But from Vinne Mac's point of view, mainstream press is a good thing, good or bad (any news is good news etc.). It's why they included Tyson during the Monday Night Wars, Mr T in two Wrestlemania events, Mayweather vs Big Show, countless NFL players etc. over the years. Any chance they can get to potentially get a headline somewhere they normally wouldn't is going to be an opportunity for them.
  17. True. But we need to realise a lot of the stars of today (Kane, HHH, Edge etc.) were created due to a need by WWE (then WWF) to create stars to compete with the names of WCW. If you compare WCW to WWF during the Monday Night Wars based on name value alone then WCW had things in the bag, until of course certain names (Stone Cold, HHH, The Rock etc.) began to rise. WCW had the majority of guys which WWF made big stars of (Hogan, Savage, Nash, Hall, Rude, Hennig, Hart etc.), but then WWF also took guys from WCW who were being under utilised by WCW but had the potential to be stars (Rey Mysterio, Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero) and booked them long-term to be so.
  18. To an extent. WCW didn't try to create stars and instead relied on the bigger names. You can rely on your bigger names to draw, but you also need to build up people over time on the lower parts of the card so they can eventually move their way up. If I debuted on RAW next week, would you expect me to beat Cena/HHH/HBK within a month/few months?
  19. Of course. "Tune in next week to see what happens..." HBK "retired" Ric Flair, and if the guff last year is to be believed, 'Taker has only beaten HBK once in all the time they're been in the WWF/WWE. No way HBK should be the one to break the streak. WWE are using guest hosts for one reason, not for ratings, but because they get mainstream press coverage. And neither should they. An established star shouldn't put over the younger guys unless the younger guys have proven themselves. Oddly enough, I prefer Big Show as a babyface. I think he pulls off being a "comedy giant" much better than him being a monster heel. I'm still not sure why they're pushing Kofi. I'm just not seeing what everyone else seems to. Kane has jobbed over and over... yet he's still booked as a monster heel. Simple, release Cody. I can't help but think of Sylvester The Cat every time I hear him on the microphone. "Sufferin' succotash!" From what i've seen Ted is the better one on the mic, has the better physique and is better in the ring. No reason for him to be lumped with Sylvester. Not sure how "R Truth" is even in the WWE, he had a shot way back when as K-Kwik (or whatever he was called) and flopped. Then they bring him back with pretty much the same gimmick - "Rapping on the way to the ring etc."
  20. God damn this'll be hard to choose, i'll have a think. (thanks to all those who've nominated me btw! )
