I understand those who are unhappy with this choice, and I consider it a reasonable point of view.

On the other hand, however, I personally much prefer this solution to seeing Cody defend his Undisputed WWE title strap against a random opponent with 0 chance of winning. Will we see Cody 2 Belts? Will Logan Paul succeed in the phantasmagorical task of defeating Cody, who I assume would win the title back in a short time? Will it all end in a DQ? At least now I have a reason to see the PLE lol and Cody will have something to do!

Of course, it all comes from the fact that when the story ended, they didn't plan a nice feud for the Nightmare and he was floating.

I still think we could see Styles as his first long term feud, but it's getting broken up with other matches in between. LA Knight finds his footing with the US Title, and you have KO turn on Orton to have that going forward. It could work.

I don't get why they would do this, it makes no sense to give Cody both belts, or for Paul to lose the US title with no build up. I guess we are getting some sort of DQ ending so that the titles don't switch hands.

My guess is AJ interferes, and then LA Knight gets involved somehow. Or KO gets involved when Logan Paul tries to cheat. Can't see a clean win coming out of it, and it's fine. I don't mind DQs/Non-finishes as long as it's both of the following - it's logical AND it's not overdone for the wrestler.

I think Jacob Fatu is a Can't-Miss Prospect as a heel, but it is also true that with Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga already there, his brutality would be less noticeable. I can see him as Roman or Rocky's enforcer used to deal with Solo's revolution and aim to the Head of the Table, but not as a classic babyface.

One of the things I read online is that they are having Solo be more violent now because Jacob could outshine him in that department.

From what I remember it wasn’t so much a botch but and accident resulted from a spot

Guess Paige wasn't available to feud with Mercedes for retiring her?

I'll reserve judgement until I see more - or in this case anything. Mercedes has done nothing yet. And her one time on commentary (week 2 was it?) was putrid.

She's been insufferable for years. Her gimmick is that she's somehow better than other women, yet she hurts herself and others with botches. She took Paige out of the game for how many years? She botched her New Japan debut even. I like her passion for pro wrestling, but that's about it.

Willow hurting her - was that kayfabe? An accident? Or a botch where she got hurt herself?

I'm probably not doing a tournament for tag teams (or at least, not a round robin one, but they might get a single elimination one), but I've thought about doing the other three ! I was thinking having one that would have a similar importance (for my company) as the G1 Climax, an equivalent for women, and either an "Invitational" to honor one of our former deceased champions, that would be for rookies/free agents, or one where I'd invite workers from the other NWA companies to fight with my own guys to get a shot at the NWA World Title. Maybe even alternate what the third one would be themed on: cruserweight, midcarders, free agents, etc.

The problem with round robin tournaments being obviously that they can take a long time (hence why I am unsure how many to book: 7 matches + the finals are two months if I only have a weekly show, and I don't want the whole schedule to be tournaments after tournaments), and when the division is rather poor in talent and/or popularity (as will probably be the case of my women division), I'll need to have other huge matches to compensate the rather poor ratings.

Any logos would still be welcome though ! One can never have too many logos, just in case 😛

(As for other readers, still interested in answers for the other questions !)

Yeah, I was thinking more of single elimination tournaments. Round Robins are tough - though depending on your workers you can do a quick 3 man round robin, and book it in a way where it ends up in a 3 way match like ROH did in one of their early shows. If you are sticking with Round Robins you can do two pools of 5, alternating shows. You should have enough match slots open each show to have non tournament matches there. If it's a big tournament (that takes 2 months as you described) maybe you do only 2 a year, 6 months apart (March and September? February and August?)

Actually, by the time she signed, AEW had cooled off a bit. Injuries, lower attendance, lower ratings. The huge, massive turnout at All In was a bit of a blip.

At least WWE has the good sense to keep her in tag matches, for the most part, with the exception of that one really quick squash with Chelsea. Her solo matches in AEW were... Well.

To be fair, a TON of ECW workers were beyond AWFUL but Heyman was able to make them entertaining. Same thing with OVW where Cornette was able to accentuate strengths and hide weaknesses. I don't need the workers to be legit bad asses. I just need them to play the part and be entertaining while they're at it. And hopefully Jade puts the work in to improve, because after a while it will be expected. But I still remember when my buddies would come over to watch the PPVs in the early 2000s, we always had the over under for when Trish would sell by grabbing her head. She wasn't very good to begin with and improved greatly. What Jade has going for her is her look, and some of the feats of strength she can do. She stands out. Hopefully they can do something with her. Tag matches are the way to go, not sure I would have gone the title route. Because I can definitely see a story of one of them turning on the other, but not sure she is up to that standard yet. Crowd was fun, it was a nice change of pace.

Hey guys, I could need some help for a few questions, before I start my NWA Los Angeles 92 save. Basically, to give you some lore, I'll play with the (fictional) grandson of one of the original members of the California Combine, and the one who's most often forgotten from what I've seen. Due to his newfound wealth, he'll bring back wrestling to the family by recreating the company that made his grandfather famous-ish, and join the NWA (until a turning point where I'll want to destroy them from the inside). He'll also have good relationships with other members of that group, allowing me to use the following rules: 1) Everyone who held one of the original company titles and/or had a match there while still available in the data must be signed and used for any role they can fill, 2) Everyone who had a match in Hollywood Wrestling, or was the student/a family member of one of the original NWA:LA roster is put on a shortlist and takes precedence over people not on it 3) Every title of the original company listed by cagematch must be used, although I can change their rules/the people they'd be awarded to (in other words, a title for main eventers can become a midcard title, etc).

Now that you have the lore, here are the questions:

    - what would be good ways to crown new champions ? Apart from one of the two tag titles, where Los Brazos (Brazo de Oro and Brazo de Plata) can simply get their titles back as they were the last champions (the belt having been used in another company), every other "reigning" champion is either dead or retired. In other words, I'll have to crown a new Main Event champ, a new Midcard champ,  new tag champs, a new women champion, and a new "Beat the Champ" champion (although for this one, I already have the solution of either a battle royale, or two randomly drawn workers since that's the rule for challengers anyway). I love the idea of having round-robin tournaments, but that would make 4 tournaments, either simultaneously or back-to-back, and I fear it's a bit too many. Ladder matches weren't really a big thing in 1992, and just picking the best two workers for each title doesn't really fit with the product I want.

    - speaking of round-robin tournaments, how many is too many, and how often is too often ? I'd like to have at least one men and one women tournament annually, but how many workers should be in it maximum before it becomes way too long, bloated and uninteresting ?

    - the "NWA Beat the Champ" title originally (as far as I know) was in kayfabe about money: the champ would win a certain amount of money for the original win, a bit more for the 4 wins after against randomly drawn opponents (in kayfabe, again), then the title went vacant. I'd rather have the champ winning all 5 matches gain a title shot, but what would be the best choice: the winner picks the stipulation of his choice ? The title turns into a "cash-in" opportunity at any moment, although the champion would still need to defend it until he decides to cash-in ? Something else ?

    - Amongst the people I'll be forced to hire are workers like Little Tokyo, Lord Littlebrook, Cowboy Lang (all three being midget wrestlers), and Mae Young. I'm not going to create a midget division just for Cowboy Lang, and unlike Claude Giroux (who's a decent manager and that I also have to hire), none of the other three have the skills needed to be good managers, authority figures or road agents. Any ideas on what I could do with them ? Lang could probably pair in a jobber tag team, but the other three I'm entirely clueless on possible uses.

Thanks, and sorry for the long message !

You could do them quarterly (though not necessarily in months 3, 6, 9, and 12 - just 3 months apart. Men, women, tag, and a wildcard (FAs looking for a contract? Cruiserweights? Hardcore/deathmatch?). Depending on your set up, 16 people should be fine. You can even do a 2 day event where the losers of some matches go 3 v 3 against another team of workers who lost in Rd 1. Look at how PWG and early ROH did their tournaments. I will try to come up with some event names for logos as well.

The sexual trafficking lawsuit is against the WWE as a company, not just Vince McMahon. Honestly I'm quite surprised that people are so ready to buy into the narrative that it's suddenly a 'new WWE' just because Vince is gone, there are still a lot of questions to be answered about who knew what when, and about the overall culture of the place. Not to mention their other shady business practices, notably taking huge sums from the Saudi regime for sportswashing.

Of course, AEW is hardly spotless and Tony Khan shouldn't have used this opportunity to mention it in such a tacky way, but let's not diminish that the substance of the allegations has serious complications for WWE with or without McMahon, and that's largely been ignored by many fans and the media.

I also think that the comment was a direct dig at Nick Khan, who was a senior agent at CAA who have been accused of supplying women to Weinstein.

I don’t think TK is that subtle. He should have at least not moved his neck in the neck brace, but that’s just par for the course.

First off, since internet discourse is the way it is, I need to make clear that I'm asking about your opinion here, not challenging it.

I get why a lot of people are sick of Jericho right now, but what is your issue with Hook?

When I read the comment, I took it to mean that it would give Hook a different (bigger?) audience to perform for. I keep up with AEW through results and here, and pretty much every report I've read has fans tired of Jericho. Since it said for different reasons, I guess I took it to mean that it would be to Hook's benefit to leave AEW. I've also heard rumors that WWE are interested in Hook.

Yeah. While not the big powerhouse like Nia Jax, Piper Niven, or Jade Cargill, Charlotte is bigger than the average competitor in the women's division, and it doesn't look like she's trying to give them a hug.

Charlotte doing it works for me since the women are smaller than the guys I still believe it does damage.

I will have to go back to watch it but you guys are probably right. Maybe it’s just my bias on that when I grew up seeing Rhyno and Goldberg doing it. And admittedly the Goldberg one might be seen through rose colored glasses of when he was on top at WCW. Rhino is just next level though.

If it was the War Chamber match then it was Raven, Akira, Jimmy Lloyd and Jake Crist vs Cannonball, Dr. Cornwallis, Sami Callihan and Ricky Shane Page.  RSP's team is called The Calling and thus Raven named his opposing team The Answer.

    Yes, that's the one.

Can't be any worse than Edge's. One WhatCulture guy (not Simon) once described it as something like "tenderly embracing his opponent before gently lowering them to the ground."

At least Lashley’s body type could believably deliver the move (if he could make it look better). People like Edge and Charlotte have no business doing a move like that.

I remember watching that clip, and it is impossible to see it as anything else now.

  14. I have enjoyed switching the alignment of commonly face or heel workers. For example, Chris Caulfield as a heel, backed up by other former DAVE guys gave him new life in one of my games. Otherwise, he is always my first face champion and gets taken out by a cocky youngster.

Los Guerrilleros, although I use them as The Cartel with Padre Carrasco as the Cartel lawyer. They tend to wreak some havoc against lower level patriots (Desert Storm and Sgt Bubba Lee West as faces).

Lashley isn't supposed to be entertaining. He should be booked to go out there and wreck people.

I don’t need him to tell jokes, but even when it comes to wrecking people he wasn’t the best at that either. He has been meh for a while. Build him up as a monster and after Summerslam I could take him as a serious threat to Cody’s title. But if he isn’t going to win anyway, why waste it now?

Even MMA is better with characters.

Bunkhouse Brawl was really fun last night.
New Elite v FTR/PAC was a great match, agree with Milamber easy MOTN
Boy have I missed PAC, easily one of my favourite wrestlers
Collision in general a great show leading into a stacked PPV.

Last few months i have stopped reading wresting takes online, and have just been watching what i enjoy, amazes me people find ways to complain when the wrestling world is probably in the best state its been in for a generation.

Best way to watch a show (wrestling or otherwise).

Does this look like Major League to you? :D

Everything about this collab with CRASH is wack, and I feel bad for people who expected LU #2. On paper, they have interesting people involved, but the execution is just so trash.

Their event from yesterday came up on my YouTube feed (Raven and some team in a cage match, Riddle vs Thatcher, David Boy Smith Jr was on it). I always crap on TNA for their subpar presentation - the ring echoes way too much, the crowd seems like it’s just a couple hundred people, etc. The presentation of this show was not bad for it being a smaller promotion. Some of the wrestlers look terrible though, and the promos were underwhelming from some of the less known names. Didn’t watch everything, but the AJ Francis involvement, and Dario Cueto (by whatever name he uses) really stood out. The gap between them and the rest was jarring.

Lashley tried being heel not that long ago and it absolutely, well and truly did not work. Not in the slightest. If you try and turn him again his run with the Street Profits becomes more awkward. If you try to run it as a face v face it would likely be clunky and probably wouldn't do all that much to establish Cody.

Edit: Also, completely forgot. Bobby's whole story with Karrion Kross is partially about how Bobby's losing the spotlight to the Street Profits and despite being a former world champion is fading into the background.

Having the Street Profits is the most entertaining bit about Lashley in years. Really good wrestler. But not entertaining.

Looking for some creative advice on how to handle Jimmy and Jey Uso post-mania. I would ideally like to get them on the same page again in the longer perspective, but also have it making sense and not just "they worked out their differences off screen and are now tagging for no reason". I'm thinking Jimmy turning face. Jey, in kayfabe, has no reason to trust Jimmy, so creative advice on how to play to that and have him regain the trust of his brother.

Preferably free of The Bloodline, I wanna keep The Bloodline and the Usos separated post-draft.

I think you have the beginning pretty well set - Jey could forgive Jimmy, but certainly not forget. That's going to take a while. I would probably have them start teaming, but with Jey doing blind tags to get the win. Maybe have moments of mixed signals where Jimmy is going to hit someone with a chair, he ducks, and he almost hits Jey (but he stops himself, obviously). Events like that could lead to a loss here and there along the way. There could be issues like that where the roles are reversed, too. I would have Jey continue his solo run for a bit (along with tagging with Jimmy). He tells Jimmy he doesn't want him at ringside for his matches, not with what's happened in the past. Then, with a big title match, Jey loses and the champion (or maybe a stable) brutally attack Jey after the match. At that point Jimmy comes in, saves his brother, having regained his trust. If you have the Usos as part of a Wargames match you could have Jimmy save Jey (similar to how Bayley saved Damage CTRL last year. Except this time, the payoff is that the Usos form a stronger bond than before.

I've actually been using Brent Hill as head booker so unfortunately; I'm going to lose the extra user point I've earned thus far when I make this change. I like your idea of RDJ and already have him under contract acting as the on screen authority figure. Who is Robert Montgomery Sr? I didn't find him in the data.

I didn't realize he wasn't in the original data. He must have been added in one of those "Yet to Debut" mods I added - which makes sense now that I think about it since his kids debut over the first two years. Per the bio Stallings supposedly had plans to bring him in to HGC, but was in a car wreck that forced him to retire. He opens up a school, and his kids (and a niece?) debut over the first 2 or so years. I usually use him as my User Character (or have him involved in my fed) so he can lead a stable of his family. The large family gave me Von Erich vibes for a story to explore in my games.

So, instead of being 0-37, he's actually 0-1-36.

Or 0-1-6 if House Shows don't count...

Brother, that's still an absolutely awful record. 😂

Are we counting Solo and Jimmy as a Unit? Or Individuals? Because a lot of times in the groups there is the guy that eats all the pins in tag/multi man matches. Seems like Jimmy was the one taking the hit and he was being protected. So 0-1-1 with 6 matches that he didn’t factor into the decision in - and since Jimmy can’t carry his weight, he is out. 🙃

I wonder how the Usos will hug it out and make up. Whatever they decide to do, it’s for the best. They are not singles guys at a top level. But they are a top level tag team.
