  1. While Wahoo might be older but it’s a nice story for him to reach the promise land finally.  He won’t be a long term champion but you can get some matches out of him.  At this point the problem in Kokina is your building a monster.  Monsters don’t need belts especially while they are still learning.  There is money in the chase, but you put the gold on him now you eventually have to beat him.  Build and chase then when he finally gets a shot you have something.  Wahoo with the belt is a perfect setup to Tully.  Once Blanchard has the belt, you have ready made feuds with Windham, The Trooper and maybe even if he’s still a babyface, Nikita.  Kokina can have a run with the Heritage title.  Start slow, build slow and you have something special down the line.

Just some booking thoughts on the fly, but I can’t wait to see what you do.!

  2. WRESTLEROCK FAN POLL

Your opinion of WrestleRock? Always remember this is all in good fun 😉

Thumbs Up - I’m giving the show a lean to thumbs up.  I’m glad the Jonnie Stewart match was not telecast.  I always liked Stewart and while in the dying AWA the Milliman thing was a “fun” joke (I guess), the new AWA is beyond the joke.  Shocked Cowboy would go with that decision.

While I wouldn’t have gone with Wahoo winning, it’s a nice story and the fans (most of them) went home happy.

The undercard was solid, not a real weakness of the cards main show.  That said I would have liked to have seen a tag team title defense on a big show.

Best match on WrestleRock?  If I didn’t know what the outcome was going to be for me it would have been DeBeers vs Sarge.  Loser leave is the ultimate high stakes

Worst match on WrestleRock?  It wasn’t a bad match and I get why it was done, but for me it would be the opening 10-man match.  I would have loved to see Bor Orion get in the match if you’re going to have it.

Star of the show?  Has to go to Wahoo for winning the one title he never had before.

Was Vixen the right choice for the rock act on the show?  Considering the location, I’d say no.  Might be my bias that I never was really interested in them back in the day, but that aside do they fit Sioux Falls?

I'm assuming the attendance was a slight disappointment to the AWA but let’s see how they did financially.  The rumored signings should be a positive and you never know what the impact of Nikita vs DeBeers might be.  I’m of course a heel fan and I liked the true Russian Nightmare better than the Super Powers Nikita, but DeBeers is a good feud to start with especially fresh of that shocking win over Sarge.

Sarge would still be the World Champion but then I called an audible and went with the Sarge to the WWF behind the scenes storyline. Jack was just a placeholder. Wahoo was the only one I saw on the roster as a viable WC on the face side at this point despite his advanced years in the biz.

Question is: is Wahoo just a transitional World Champ, too?

Yes he is!  But the next champion needs to arrive and get established quickly.  But I can see who his manager will be.  And it could be a very interesting combo!

And boy do I feel for Jonnie Stewart lol.

  4. WCW Monday Nitro
    Monday Week 2 September 1995
    Preview

Zodiac vs. "The Macho Man" Randy Savage
Comments:  Could see some sort of Dungeon swerve but don’t see Randy losing to the Zodiak (lol)

"The Man Of A Thousand Holds" Dean Malenko vs. Mr. JL
Comments:  Great technical match with the cruiser weight talents here.  Malenko has 1 too many holds for JL

"The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and "Flyin'" Brian Pillman vs. The Armstrong Boys
Comments:  Personally I hated Arn and Flair on opposite sides in WCW, but curious to see where you go with it.

"Dirty" Dick Slater vs. "The Total Package" Lex Luger
    Comments:

    WCW World Heavyweight Title Match
"The Immortal" Hulk Hogan defends vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan
Comments:  Give me 1984 Jim Duggan vs Hogan in Mid-South and you have potential for so explosions.  Here Hogan goes over because I just can’t see 95 Duggan as a serious World Champion

Comments About The Diary In General: Your off to a really good start.  I see my Horsemen group already but want to see where you go.

  5. PREDICTION CARD

    ALL-STAR WRESTLING

    FEBRUARY WEEK 1

    Butch Reed VS. Brad Rheingans

i just watched an old GCW show from 1981 and it had a TV main event of Bruce Reed vs The Masked Superstar.  Early in Reed’s career before the name change and the Hacksaw.  Always a good solid talent

    Boris Breznikoff VS. Steve O

Same show as I mentioned above and who did the Superstar beat for the National title, Steve O?  What I didnt recall that title run

    Masa Saito VS. Rick Martel

    Main Event

    Curt Hennig VS. Bobby Duncum

Growing up tough for Curt here but I think he gets a win.

On a side note, good riddance Buck!

One thing on the main event.  A very shrewd move by Hogan.  Letting Wahoo win so he can “soften” up the champ so that he can have an easier time the following month.  Is Hogan a babyface, or listen to advice from Cornette….hmmm

  6. MAIN EVENT: Jerry Blackwell & announcer Lee Marshall def. Cactus Jack (WC) & Tommy Rich when Marshall pinned Rich with a diving splash after Blackwell had avalanched Rich (Match lasted between 8-10 minutes each night)

Poor Wildfire getting embarrassed by an announcer who is likely leaving.  I hope Tommy gets a well deserved bonus!  Very glad these matches will never see the light of TV.  Good call Cowboy!

  7. WRESTLEROCK PREDICTIONS!!!

    FOR THE AWA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
Cactus Jack (WC) vs. Wahoo McDaniel
The story of Wahoo finally winning the belt would be a fun story but I’m not sure making him the champ helps the AWA long term.  I think Cactus becomes fodder for Barry or maybe even Kerry getting another shot at the gold.  I truly hope Tully comes in, creates a stable (see Orion comment) and gets in the mix.  I’ve always loved Cactus but at this stage in his career he is not the “Man”.  That said he retains here for now.

    LOSER LEAVES THE AWA/NO DQ!
    Sgt. Slaughter vs. Col. DeBeers
If we didn’t know what we know, this would be a different outcome with a different match stip

    POWERBOMB VS. POWERBOMB
Magnifient Mimi (WC) vs. Wendi Richter
(Mimi's manager Valerie will be locked in a shark cage at ringside so she cannot interfere in the match.)
For me toughest match to call (even though I’m likely wrong on others).  From what I can tell this is a non-title match with the deck stacked against Mimi.  Since I think there is a future title rematch (let’s run it one more time), I can’t see Richter losing.  I also think that next (final) match will be a cage match.  I see Val tossing something into the ring but Richter gaining control of it and that sends Mimi out running and we have a non finish count-out.  Richter doesn’t lose and Mimi running sets up the cage for the belt battle.

    OPEN CHALLENGE MATCH
    Kokina Maximus vs. Don Muraco
Cowboy said it best, we all know how this ends.

    10-MAN TAG
The Trooper, Ken Patera, Brad Rheingans & The Top Guns
    vs.
Greg Valentine (PWHC), The Destruction Crew (WTTC) & Badd Co. (w/ Mgr. DDP)
This is the 2nd toughest match to call and might be the toughest.  The heels have the belts so it makes sense that one of Badd Company takes the loss, or even Valentine if Trooper pins him.  The other side of this is that we have drama on the face team with several members.  Does Valerie come down again and cause confusion?  In my booking results this is a heel heavy card and I do feel Trooper needs to start getting elevated up the card.  Faces win, but drama is all around.

    DARK MATCHES

    Greg Gagne vs. Bob Orton
Greg just did the honors to The Bull in less than 4 minutes.  I’ll say it goes 7 but “Ace” picks up a win and prepares for his new alliance.

    Jonnie Stewart vs. Jake Milliman
The man of the 90’s picks up and easy win over the “joke” in wrestling, the Milkman.  I’m wanting to see Randy or Bill Mulkey come in as heels to take on MilkaMania

Really like this “Charmed” stable of wrestlers.  While I am not a fan of the teleportation and super natural power things (save for Taker), it has a lot of possibilities in a good diary.  They will definitely have a future in women’s Cverse wrestling

Not something that would've been seen on Vince's shows back in the day.  On the Crockett TV shows, the excitement was genuine and the action and storylines were convincing (including the Cornette fire-throwing angle that led to Jim Garvin's face turn).

Something that is sadly missing today.  Too much scripted dialogue written by Hollywood type writers and not enough real story that creates excitement.  There are very few believable characters anymore, and for the most part the matches are as they would say are the drizzling @#&!$

    PREDICTION RESULTS!!!

    Winning picks listed in brackets.

    Theheel - 1/4 (Badd Co.)

    Old School Fan - 2/4 (Richter/Mimi match at WR/Wahoo)

Congrats Old School Fan! SPEECH! SPEECH! 😁

Here is your video reward! (You have also won a psychic trip to ALL the Tim Horton's in Canada! 🙃)

Classic angle.  Oh boy in that clip you have something else very unique.  David Crockett was maybe at best a 20 (TEW terms) as a color commentator, but he has met his match in Johnny Weaver.  Weaver is classic!  One of the few < 10 color guys ever.  I had forgotten how bad he truly was
