  1. Petr Novak in a singlet? I'm planning to drop the Petr part and just make him a giant menace, complete with Ryback attire!
  2. Quick question, what would Punk have done with the urn after the match had he won? Just be like "Uuh, here you go, Mr. Taker." Maybe take it home as some kind of trophy? Also, I'm a little late to this party, but I was really hoping that on RAW when the urn got opened it would have have the awesome spotlight that made Taker get up. My WM breakdown- Loved opening 6 man tag, The Shield keeps going which is great. I didn't really enjoy the after match work by the announcers though. Uh, Big Show had plenty of reason to deck Orton, maybe not Great White, but def had good reason to deck Orton. Mark Henry vs Ryback I thought it was fine, but the ending made me a bit upset and confused, seemed too random and sudden. Hell No vs Ziggy/E Really enjoyed it for the most part. Glad E didn't lose the match when he was in. FanDANgo vs Jericho Pretty much what I expected from them, solid. Didn't like the ending though. Tweaked his knee doing a move he has done tons and tons and tons of time with it never happening before? I suppose it could just really be bad luck, but yuck on the end. Del Rio vs Swagger How come more guys just don't roll out of Ankle locks? Ooh well. Punk vs Taker Loved. Loved. Loved Taker's entrance. Match was pretty good too, but Heyman was killing me. I thought raising the urn made Taker stronger? So when you're elevating it while yelling "tap!" it seems a bit counter productive. Although it turned in to a finisher fest, it was well played and I enjoyed it, and I understand why it needed to be done. If Taker comes in and wins without doing a finisher fest, he doesn't really put the other guy over. If Punk takes all he has and still gets out a few times, you legit put him over as tough. Fine. The after match --> next match made me laugh. Did Heyman really have to go backstage to get Lesnar? Could he not have said "Okay, Brock, you're up after Punk, I'll be waiting down there for you." Nope, he must be as dumb as Goldberg and need escorted to the ring. Blah. Also, HBK comes out, and then Lesnar? Would it not make more sense for HHH to come out so Lesnar doesn't potentially kill Shawn again while he has him alone? Finally, Triple H's entrance blooper was hilarious! Lesnar vs Triple H Roll outside the ring and brawl. Woo. I don't like the kimura on the steps, not after Brock slammed him on it at least. Rock vs Cena -Once In A Life Time, for the 2nd time! The crowd looked like they really wanted to go home already except for about the last 10 minutes of the match. I did really enjoy the spot where Cena baited Rock on the 5 Knuckle. I thought it was okay, but why would you just let your main face of the company get boo'ed the whole match and then let him scream on the ramp "The Champ Is HERE!!!" like he is super face again, just because him and The Rock shared the salute? No. We're (at least I'm not) not buying Cena as face anymore. IT was stale 3 years ago, at this point I don't even know what his gimmick is? He tries hard? DO SOMETHING WITH CENA, YOU DONT HAVE TO TURN HIM, JUST DO SOMETHING ALREADY! Overall though, with the exception of the ending, (I'm talking about the ramp theatrics, I'm not just pissing all over the match) I enjoyed most of the show.
  3. So 3 singles wins, 1 draw, a couple losses and two matches that aren't singles matches. You can disagree, that's fine, I still don't think he's looked all that strong in the past year or a little longer.
  4. I am in the camp of hoping we don't have to suffer a Taker vs Punk match. I'm going to step out and say that I would actually be happier if Taker wasn't in Mania. Not to mention this match would basically be WWE saying they don't have any actual ideas for the guys which would be a shame considering Punk has been such a focal point over the past year. A guy who isn't around all year should get forced in, especially since everybody knows at this point he is going over. Speaking of not being around, I love that Rock's schedule is basically he does wrestling when he isn't busy with his other stuff, but he is the champion of wrestling. (at least in most peoples eyes) It makes the WWE look bad IMO that their title is held by a guy who does it in his free time like a hobby. And going on from that, Rock vs Cena is the main event again? Cool I guess? I'm sure it'll be a fine match, but it makes last years match up that much less special. Of course, providing something stupid doesn't happen and Cena gets a win, it's fine. Last night's RAW was a good step in making Cena look good actually again. As much as I don't love Cena, I assuredly don't hate him either, and he needs to look strong for WWE imo. For the better part of my past memories lately he has been getting beaten left and right. Yeah, he won the Rumble, but how many major singles matches has he won in the past year or year and a half?
  5. RAW Spoilers in white Rock wins me over by getting rid of Cena's WWE title. Finally.
  6. Ooh hey look, I'm popping back in again. Just saw the end of the PPV, and I've got to say, although I know its not going to happen, I'd would've gone nuts for a Cena heel turn to end the show. I know Cena is supposed to be the tough as nails, crowd never gets him down guy, but I would have loved to see that be what turned him. Watching him tonight, he knew he was hated, but even after the match the crowd still just dumped all over him. Really, any time in the feud he could have the easy turn by saying the old, "All I've ever done is try to give you the best show each and every night, and yet you cheer the guy who left you high and dry." Idk, to me that'd make sense and it'd be a subtle but still obvious change of direction for him where he just starts looking out more for himself and cuts a lot of the antics in his matches and whatnot.
  7. I don't watch TNA on a weekly basis. I barely follow them anymore. I knew BFG was coming, and I knew Sting vs. Hogan was on the card. I hardly knew the baackstory, other than Hogan and Bischoffs heel faction has been in a grudge with Sting. That's what I went in to this with. Now that that is cleared, I wanted to see Sting vs. Hogan just to see how TNA would work it. I must say, I am absolutely impressed with how that match played out. Hogan and Sting proved that you don't have to be the best physically to put on a very entertaining match. Granted, it was a giant overbook by every definition, but it worked. Hogan and Sting worked the crowd perfectly. I'm sure some people will disagree, but this match was easily one of my favorite pro wrestling moments in recent memory. I'm not sure if I'm more surprised by my previous statement, or by the fact it was pulled off by TNA. Well done. Edit-And then the main event happened. The match was basically two holds with a ton of rolling around to see how many different ways you can get back to that hold. Boring. Terrible finish on it also. Way to waste the whole build up of Roode from the Bound For Glory series. I hate this company.
  8. This is why we must agree to disagree on the whole subject. I've been on the record before saying I am a big fan of MC announcing. This is just a case where we can argue for days, but its obvious we just like different things.
  9. I like Ric Flairs take on Foley best. Don't get me wrong, occasionally I liked his stuntman work, but I do think he was vastly overrated and often times when he makes his cameos he bores me. Also, I didn't see most of it last year, but wasn't Lawler going against Miz and Cole in what was a top storyline? I feel like Lawler would be the much stronger man to be appointed in charge than a returning Mick Foley who has done nothing really of note since his original departure.
  10. I don't know/care. I'm just excited to watch it all play out. I find that if I take what WWE is giving me right now, on a week to week, without trying to predict where they are going to be 1,3, or 6 months down the road, I enjoy it a lot more because everything "logical" doesn't get broken for me.
  11. I for one am loving the main story on RAW with the whodunit and whatnot. To me, it is by far one of the best storylines they've put together in recent memory. I don't always watch RAW, but lately I've been making sure to keep up with it. Sure, you can say the focus NEEDS to be on the WWE Title, and I would agree typically, but even in this story, it still is. The WWE Title situation is what has been one of the biggest driving factors in this storyline since it took off. The storyline also started with CM Punk IMO. This storyline started with CM Punk winning, and leaving at MITB. The storyline then has been focused on Triple H and the WWE Title, including a match at Summerslam with the wonky ending. The focus then shifted a little bit as Nash and Punk looked determined to meet. The WWE title was removed from the story a little bit during ADR and Cena but really, thats fine since Cena has a claim to a rematch anyway. Not to mention, the championship became a part of the crazy storyline again at HIAC when all the choas revolved around that match and title again. They aren't focusing this storyline on midcarders or just Triple H. Most main event level guys are being kept involved in it, and the title is usually there, as a strong piece to the puzzle. The difference between RAW right now, and any other time IMO is that right now, the show is all pulled together by mostly one storyline, opposed to 3-4 different stories running at once. I for one, as stated before, actually like where this is going.
  12. Agreed. Where did the fear of SD getting canned come from? It is still a solid show in its time slot. Am I missing something here?
  13. Anybody else watching the continual deterioration of Matt Hardy? It's a shame, he was one of my favorites from when the Hardys got popular until around his feud with MVP. What a waste.
  14. "This guy is working on GI Joe right now as we speak, congratulations Dwayne." "Ooh! That makes me mad." I lol'd when Punk said that.
  15. I have to say, a couple weeks ago I finally broke down and watched Zack Ryders show...now I'm officially a part of the Zack Pack. How I didn't jump on this band wagon sooner is beyond me. Something about Ryder just works right now for me...also, his match with Cole this week on RAW was one of my favorite segments from the show. Those two are probably two of the most entertaining guys in the WWE for me right now. Yes, I am a Michael Cole mark. I've already discussed this though.
  16. On the Jimmy Kimmel bit, I wish Punk would have tried to spook the kid by acting like he was going to give him a GTS.
  17. Rising guys going over the old guard would establish them, yes, but in most of your cases you have established guys going over established vets, including some who hardly show up anymore. Truthfully, The Rock and Stone Cold are legends, and more so in Stone Cold's case, we can't really be tricked to think he still has it in him to go out there and compete with the top dogs. It's not because of his age that I say that, but because he has been out of competition. It's hard for me to fathom that a guy who has now spent 8 years, (9 by the time WM rolls around) can still go out there and compete with a guy like Punk who just beat the best in the WWE right now. The Rock has made an appearance here and there, and at least still looks and acts the part. We know the Rock left wrestling to go to Hollywood. Austin left because his body doesn't hold up any more. Austin vs Punk would be a flop of a match IMO and establish nothing for Punk. Cena vs Rock would be an okay match, but after Cena would win, he would have gained nothing other than beating the guy who quit wrestling. Miz vs. Taker like I said could potentially be good at least and we've already seen HHH vs. Orton, hell, we've seen it at WM already! Granted, HHH won, but lets be honest, the guy is 41 years old. I don't think he is going to hang up the boots just yet.
  18. Why? Everybody here is already established. I would have had Punk on the fence before MITB, but that PPV established him as a top dog again. Miz could be an on the fence, but if he loses it doesn't help establish him. Orton has beat HHH before, this wouldn't do anything. Punk vs SCSA would be a dream match, but I feel it wouldn't meet expectations. Miz vs Undertaker I feel would be a good match but if Undertaker wins, whats the point? That being said, Miz winning would be the ultimate way for his character to stroke it's ego...but that's not happening. Cena vs Rock, I'd expect Cena to win, but beating someone 10 years past their wrestling prime when you're already the top draw doesn't really boost you. Anyway, if we're all fantasy booking, I would love to see CM Punk stay away until the Rumble, and show up as a surprise entrant...and win before challenging John Cena who has somehow gotten the title back. Thus, somehow they can swing this in to John Cena vs. The Rock vs. CM Punk. It would tie in with Punk feeling like he is the best, and deserving to go to the Main Event of Wrestlemania, as well as letting him attempt to beat the top ass kissers, while still keeping the Cena/Rock feud alive as well. We can all dream, right?
  19. This post would only exist on a board from 1999 or a thread about TNA...12 years later.
  20. I know it has been said a few times now, but providing Punk wins and then the MITB winner cashes in on Punk, and wins, it doesn't really garner much heat if the person is a heel. Lets say ADR wins MITB and winds up beating Punk, yeah, the Chicago crowd is going to eat it up, but outside of that the majority of the audience is going to wake up and realize tomorrow that ADR is still a heel, except he now saved the WWE Title. I feel like if you go the route of having the MITB winner cash in, you have to have it be a face to steal it back from Punk for it to have any lasting effect.
  21. Fixed that for you. A match ending that has been made out as a bad call isn't a clean loss. Also, as said before, the other matches he looked very much like a threat in and there is no way you can project him as being weak. When you lose to a flash move like the RKO in a very competitive match, it doesn't take away your heat right away. When you lose the second time in a competitive match, you have to be careful, because too many more times will start to make him look like he is unworthy. The third time however, he had the reason he lost as the foot under the rope was called incorrectly which leaves him looking fine after the match. If Christian loses a possible 3 way, then he still looks fine because he can claim he never got his one on one chance like he should have after being screwed. He'll be fine.
  22. I'm probably going to take some heat for this but... I like Cole's commentary. Sometimes it can get obnoxious, but a lot of the time I truly do find it entertaining and smart, such as when Punk walked out on his match with Kane. Cole's commentary during that was spot on.
  23. Once again, can anyone prove TNA is bleeding money on PPV's? I understand PPV buy numbers are down but show me where TNA is losing a ton of money. I don't see how giving away free TV shows as larger cards really helps that problem other than getting a rating spike (hopefully) once every couple/few months or whatever.
