1. Who are you to be able to dismiss it all as "fantasy" talk? Do you know stuff the rest of us don't? The rest of us base our statements and opinions on what we read and/or see, like the video of The Undertaker saying that HBK didn't want to do the Austin job untill he "encouraged" him. Are you saying he's a liar? Are you saying you know better than him?

People lie, people get things wrong, people get misinformed. I've seen videos of guys telling me they killed a sasquatch. Video of a guy talking doesn't make it reality.

Is Undertaker telling the truth? Most likely. We all get a pretty good sense of how things are. It's no secret from various sources that HBK and HHH tried to bury just about everyone there was.

So I don't know where you come off jumping to conclussions puting words in my mouth.

That's ONE video and it has nothing to do with the Hogan match in question for starters. Anything the fans get as backstage info is probably carefully planned, especially from a long term employee like the Undertaker. Another thing is that I hope if you've been a fan of this buisness long enough that you should know that no one really tells the truth in pro wrestling. It's all one guy's side versus the other guys side.

So when you start going into what Shawn Michaels was thinking and behaving like backstage like you KNOW... not like you think or like you heard but like you KNOW... it's uncomfortable for me to read. Speculation is one thing. Thats what boards like these are for. But there's been people who are CORRECTING other people as if they know for a FACT exactly what was going on backstage during the Hogan / Michaels match. Thats when you go wrong in my book.

  2. I dont know that anyone claimed Shawn WASNT overselling. It's fairly obvious. The match overall really isn't that bad. It's been featured on several WWE DVDs so I mean it's not like it's this big deal I feel liek some make it out to be.

My problem with this entire discussion is the behind the scenes fantasy talk and the absolute certainty some guys have when discussing it.

  3. I'm still just enamoured with how much some of you guys know about who wanted to job to who and who refused and the psychology behind it and all the inner workings of what actually happened backstage. Very educational.

So... Shawn's "antics" were him having excellent ring psychology and working heel to the crowd for an entire match... then finishing the match as a face...

  4. Wow... you guys sure seem to know EXACTLY what happened between Michaels and Hogan backstage. Most be those super accurate dirt sheets.

I think Rey will get a rematch on Raw either this week or next week. For starters, he and Cena actually had a pretty good TV match on monday. I watched the whole time and enjoyed myself. It's a no-brainer match for Monday. It would provide either a credible main event or a huge opener to the show.

  5.
Yea I dont feel like they are rushing the Punk storyline at all. It's the hottest thing in wrestling right now and they gave him two weeks off after the PPV... what more do you want?

They brought him back very briefly on TV and teased the fans a bit. We all know he'll have stuff to say and we'll all tune it to hear it. If you legitimately thought they would rest Punk whiel he's as hot as he is... especially leading up to summerslam.... well... you simply deserve to be "disappointed".

  6. TBH all this storyline has shown is that Punk cant draw. The week leading up to MITB were the lowest rated raws in a few years. Punk is a IWC poster boy but the other 95% of wrestling fans must not care too much for him.

    Horrible point.

WWE has posted low ratings, but thats because July is terrible for ratings. No shows do well in july. If you compare their numbers by previous years, this july is huge for them. But you didn't bother to look at that when you made your point, did you?

If you can break your fingers away from the keyboard long enough to actually watch wrestling, you'd see that Punk has been getting massive pops all around the country (even when he's not there!), not just in Chicago. This is the dawn of something special in my opinion.

  7. I think they shoudl just all be heels. That's basically what happened in the Attitude era. All the top faces were kinda heels, people just cheered them.

I see why John Cena has his purpose. I try not to be the cynical wrestling fan and think all the faces are lame. I think there are certain guys who would have to stay face. But i think 99% of the roster should get a little more heeled up. It makes the characters much more entertaining and fun to watch.

  8. The invasion was right around when I stopped watching wrestling for a little while. I felt like they forced too many heel turns with that. And turning Stone Cold in the way they did it was just stupid. It was a poor man's NWO angle to me.

I'd been a net smark for years at that point and I got fed up with everything. All the smarks pretending to know what was going on and what was supposed to happen. I just had to step away from it for awhile.

I still watched wrestlemanias with my buddies and stuff but I had no interest in watching it weekly.

I got back into it a few years ago again first through ring of honor, then I started watching WWE pretty regularly and TNA. Now I'm back hooked into wrestling again but I try to stay away from the sites and the podcasts. Those places are full of "Wrestling fans" who actually hate wrestling but for some reason watch it just to make themselves mad.

Can't take it too seriously. I just like to watch it for the fun stuff. I wish they had more crazy characters over the "real" characters but whatever. I watch every week and still enjoy going to events.

  9.
No one's perfect. Despite what "rumors" you heard I think it's slightly unreasonable to say Randy's got a checkered past when nothing's ever come out about any of it. Whereas Chael Sonnen broke the law on several occasions now.

Either way... my take on it is that their personal life is personal. MMA fighters are crazy dudes, man. You gotta be at least half a psycho to take that kind of punishment and train like that. Even the guys that do it at the amateur level, I really have alot of respect for them. So if I find out one's gone of the deep end a bit, I generally am not too shocked about it.

  10.

Dunno about all this Low Ki business but look at this:

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z359/sstwill26/073.jpg

Who wouldn't hit that?? (I know alot of you wouldn't but I'd drop ALOT of people on their head just to be first in line LOL)

That is ALOT of woman... although not really a bad thing.. :-)

I'm a huge fan of Awesome Kong. I first saw her when she was with TNA and in person I was in awe. She's got an amazing presence and a natural charisma alot of the divas don't have there. They'll probably build her up and bury her most likely though. But I am holding out some hope they either make Superstars a real show or add another hour so that the Divas can get a few more matches.

Although she might have hurt herself... rumor has it she's pregnant.

  11.
Looking at their past of bringing in "names" I think ROH would do it well. They actually build characters there. Not only that, but their champions actually hold on to titles for awhile.

So if a guy like MVP (just to use an example) came into the company, I would see him making a fine fit. They wouldn't put a belt around him right away, but if they wanted to launch him right into a main event status (which they probably would and should) they'd have him fued with a guy like Davey Richards or Roderick Strong or someone like that, depending on which direction they want to take his character.

If they want him to challenge for a title they'd have him do a huge series with one of the previously mentioned guys or another worker at that level. After two or three great matches, the ROH fans would accept a guy like MVP the way they accepted Shelton and Haas.

I mean it's possible they'd use him to put over a young guy like Eddie Edwards assuming he's still champ. That wouldn't shock me at all. Have a main superstar like MVP come in and have a great series with Edwards but ultimately lose.

Thats the kind of stuff they do.

Also... I REALLY hope Low-Ki goes back there.

  12.
Final Battle 2010 was pretty awesome but I feel liek you had to watch ROH all year to get the impact of most of those matches.

I love how they wrote the storylines for those fueds man. Very basic stuff but it was all beautifully told in the ring at that PPV. It was a great show I'm glad I got to watch ROH alot that year.

I'm very pumped they got a new TV deal. Love those guys man.

I'm from philly so seeing the passionate philly crowd at the old ECW arena turn out for ROH is a sight to be seen for any hardcore wrestling fan.

  13.
Davis is good. I feel like Evans is alot better. He's more dynamic and he's got more battle-tested weapons. It's easy to think of Rashad the lay n pray guy but let's not forget that on his way to the championship he ammased quite the highlight reel KOing Liddell, Salmon and Lambert and also stopped Griffin.

He didnt finish Thiago Silva or Rampage but not alot of guys have. Rampage hasn't been KOed in any fashion since Shogun did it back in like 2005 i believe and Silva only got KOed by Machida.

I'm not saying Davis is incapable of finishing a guy like Evans, we just havent seen him do it yet.

  14. I would certainly watch a Davis/Jones fight. I'm loving Davis right now he's making wrestling exciting. Showing that you can be a great wrestler that doesn't lay and pray his way to victory. I know he's hasn't finished everyone he's fought but he's always working at something.

That said, Rampage is still a huge star with some mainstream recognition. If I'm Dana White I'm putting him in a fight with Jon Jones while I still can. the Phil Davis fight could always be there for your back pocket but you gotta make the biggest fight that you can if it's sitting there for ya.

Now if Hammil wins and Davis wins, it's more of a predicament. Jones beat the crap out of Hammil and everyone knows it. He decimated him. He got the loss because of the stupid DQ (which was really Mazagotti's fault more than anything but we wont go there). I don't see a rematch being interesting to the MMA audience as a whole. It'll be another destruction. I think If Hammil and Davis both win, you gotta go with Davis.

All this is probably unneeded talk anyway. I'm thinking Rampage and Rashad both win and Rashad will get the title shot probably in September or October.

  15. I assume it's ok to post links in here as long as it's not spam or me hawking my wares. If it's against policy I appologize but I didnt see anything prohibiting me posting a link to back up a point.

I don't know where anyone read that Jon Jones is gonna fight the winner of Rampage/Hammil or that he's ready to fight. Thet's wrong according to what I've read.

    http://mmaweekly.com/ufc-light-heavyweight-champion-jon-jones-opts-out-of-surgery-gunning-for-late-summerearly-fall-return

He's hurt. His hand is casted. He can't fight or train. His managemnt says he'll fight whoever they put in front of him when he makes his return in 3-6 months.

They mention it MIGHT be Rampge or Hammil but also mention it might be Rashad. I think if Page wins and Phil Davis wins, I would assume Rampage would get the shot right now. Davis might because he stepped up to take the fight and Dana appreciates that kinda thing, but I would think Rampage/Jones would be the more marketable fight. However, if Rashad wins it's crazy to think Dana gives the shot to someone else. That hasn't been said anywhere in any article I've come across and it would make Dana White look like a pretty awful fight promoter.

Either way, Jones wouldn't have been ready for the Rashad fight anyway because the hand needed to be immoblized for awhile.
