  1. <p>There's a weird bug that I can't figure out how it is happening in the current data.</p><p> </p><p> WWF Superstars shows up as WWF Heat when you go into to negotiate timeslot or canceling the show with USA Network. That's weird as you have Heat as a separate show that isn't on the air. I've double-checked, and it is clearly set to Superstars in the editor. I'd suggest checking with Adam as when things like that happen it means the database is corrupt somewhere, and I'd hate to see all your hard work go for naught.</p><p> </p><p> Only other comment is that Adam has routinely said that backstage workers shouldn't be included in the game as they served absolutely no purpose and should never appear on a show which will drop their morale. I had to fire like 8 people.</p><p> </p><p> Oh, and Michael Hayes had already retired as a wrestler by this point. He's set as an active or semi-active wrestler with a wrestler push. Same thing with Honky Tonk Man though I'm less sure about that one. Backlund pushes as backstage for some reason as I thought that was near the end of his last wrestler run.</p>
  2. <p><img alt="yfYBboG.png?1" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/yfYBboG.png?1" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Uh, maybe you might want to not come to the ring stoned off your you-know-what first? That's the other 3 comments as they're all mad at The Iron Shiek. That match was a cluster too. First time through, Volkoff suffered a Family Death injury (Mod Squad peeps, you might want to look into that one) plus the wrestling high note.</p><p> </p><p> I do want to add that Haynes wasn't actually in a match on the card either, just a menacing angle so how would he know?</p>
  3. The problem with ROH's TV ratings are they're on a ton of independent and Sinclair-owned stations all over the country, and they air them at different times and sometimes twice in a day (back several years ago Columbus, OH had them on twice on Thursdays). Once you get into cumulative viewings, ratings become hard to judge. Also, it is hard to judge in TEW terms because certain timeslots matter more than others.
  4. Glad you got it to work. The mod is quite fun, but you need to do some serious editing to the current WWE stars as it looks like the person didn't touch stats so all of the people that debuted after 2010 are extremely lackluster. It's fine though as I'm dominating with TNA (Impact also has that problem). If you have a real world mod, you'd almost be better off importing WWEU (which is the current day along with NXT) and Impact rosters in. Other than that, the mod is great.
  5. It is in a .rar format instead of .zip format so you need a converter that can expand a .rar file (instead of unzipping a .zip file). I just did it, and it works fine. Try WinRar or any other free .rar program out there. You do only need the 2016 file out of it.
  6. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="TsuMirren" data-cite="TsuMirren" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45191" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Removing protective appears to work okay, as does limiting CWF to Regional. CWF only ran one or two shows outside the South East, which in the grand scheme of things isn't too bad. WWF absolutely decimate the smaller promotions though, so the likes of WWA (Indianapolis) & Big Bear get bought up during 86 (I assume as they were in debt). Can hardly stop that though. Watching a promotion get crowds of 2K+, whilst free falling in to heavy debt, never feels right. But, again, not a lot you can do about that.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> That's good to know. WWA fails in every mod in this era. It's one of my go-to's for a developmental fed plus they tend to sell when only in $40-80k debt so it is much, much cheaper than starting one so I wouldn't worry about it. I'm going to go ahead with the 1.1 version for my diary because I'm tired of starting over all the time, though I did bump JCP's MA pop to equal SE. It's not going to affect anything other than I'll make more money which isn't a problem.</p><p> </p><p> Small companies basically have to run nothing but cheap workers outside of a couple of main eventers to have a chance at breaking even in TEW. TV really doesn't pay and will hurt you if you aren't careful, and the AI really isn't careful. Plus, the talent level is so good (accurate btw) that it drives up the price of the workers. One thing that I've not seen suggested is to decouple psychology from worker cost. Good Road Agents shouldn't be the most expensive people you hire until you hit Cult.</p>
  7. <p>Yeah, that's what I was getting at. Great Lakes, WWF regions Tri and NE, and South West are the regions that aren't part of the NWA meaning you can run there and your home area under the current rules about not running in another territory's region. Well, if you keep JCP in the South East, you can add Mid Atlantic to that list.</p><p> </p><p> You can run a simulation or two without the area restrictions, but the AI isn't all that smart. I think the default is to try and run a few shows out of their home region (possibly to help them grow?) if possible. For some reason though, the home region block tends to keep them there until they have higher pop. Things like Georgia would run Great Lakes sometimes in the 80 and 83 mods. It would be weird to see CWA running a show in the Mid West or Florida running a show in Texas.</p><p> </p><p> As for the whole succession thing for JCP/WCW, I don't think you can put a narrative in to force a retirement for a non-wrestler so there isn't a surefire way to get rid of Crockett. You could probably game the game to pick Turner to be the new owner most of the time by giving him 100's on his business stats, but it wouldn't be a for sure thing plus the corporation wouldn't be the owner.</p><p> </p><p> I've always been more of a "Just make them WCW early" person than a "Destroy JCP and have WCW spawn from nothingness" person. The AI just doesn't immediately hire everyone they should so their roster is bad which cripples their growth.</p>
  8. Woah, wait. JCP is going to be locked into Mid Atlantic and Great Lakes now if they're based in MA. The pop switch makes sense though. I'm pretty sure 9 shows in a region burns that region out by the time the PPV-esque monthly show is run (we all tend to run it at the end of the month). I'd put it back to South East like it was so they can run Georgia.
  9. I figured that you had to do that so they could run shows in the South East. Per the NWA rules, they wouldn't if they were in the Mid Atlantic. Plus, they started shifting over to Atlanta once they got on TBS since it was easy to fly in and out of for their shows. Now, if you flipped their Mid-Atlantic and South East pop, which probably should happen btw, it wouldn't be as big of a deal. I run Worldwide out of Mid-Atlantic and WCW out of the South East mainly because that's how they were run at this time, and it is a good idea to not run all 9 shows in one region. Great Lakes isn't ready to be run yet without losing a lot of money.
  10. <p>That's fair. I just didn't know exactly when it started. It certainly didn't seem to affect Hall in the ring until his NWO days, and Jake a few years into his first WWF run.</p><p> </p><p> My JCP/WCW diary is coming. I've just been dealing with some bad health issues with my dad the last couple of days so I've been out of town.</p>
  11. Would that work with TEW though? I've never had a mixed manager/wrestler combo so I don't know if that would trigger the face/heel thing. I'll keep my Jesse Ventura retired as I'm not sure TEW would actually retire him when you want him to be. Evidently, I'd blocked out his comeback. Also, any A show for WWF has to be 2 hours. You switched Prime Time to an A show and 2 hours, but Superstars was kept at 1 hour. The player can fiddle with that all they want, but in my previous games as noted on here, it kills their ratings as the women's match is the 2nd best match (either the only other match on the card or better than the lower-mid vs lower-mid) on the card. Might need to do that with a lot of feds as a whole lot of mods have Japanese cards of 2 matches. Oh for the return of the match length settings. And alas, Sullivan got picked up as booker for Mid-South this time.
  12. <p>For some reason, Jesse Ventura is still set as an active wrestler with an active wrestler contract (so you have to change both) even though his bio correctly states that he retired in 1984 due to that heart condition. I'm not sure his relevance age should be the time he becomes Minn. governor. </p><p> </p><p> In the minor quibble territory, were Jake Roberts and Scott Hall really that drugged in 1985? I'm not sure if they'd ever pick those up if they started at 0 though so if that's the reason, that's fine. Maybe at 1?</p><p> </p><p> It looks like everything else I mentioned got addressed though. Now, time to try a diary run for the 3rd time. Maybe this time Kevin Sullivan won't become booker for TASW so my trios group can work. I have everything mapped out for 9 months so I just need the dominoes to fall correctly.</p>
  13. <p>Great War Games! A Shane & RVD tag team vs The Hardys along with True Heroes would certainly be the injection the tag division needs. Stick the Jung Dragons in there for the other face team, and it would be amazing. It certainly is a good fit for Shane. </p><p> </p><p> Now, the fun is going to come at Starrcade when Bret has to decide if Eddie vs Rey for the World Title main events or Goldberg vs Austin, provided he's healthy at that point. It won't happen in the game, but that would likely be that WM (not sure the number) where Rock vs Hogan didn't close the show. The world title match wasn't bad at all, but the crowd was just blown by that point so it hurt the match.</p><p> </p><p> Of course, the other question is what exactly is a Goldberg vs Austin match going to score in this WCW? Eddie vs Rey is a guaranteed 99 or 100, assuming Eddie turns heel. Hell, it might get that with both as faces. Decisions, decisions. Though, you've stacked the deck so much through your exceptional development of so many guys that you could go crazy and have Noble vs AJ for the US title in the main event and get a 95+ (I'm assuming AJ wins the title back at Havoc just so RVD and Shane can go do their thing).</p>
  14. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Beejus" data-cite="Beejus" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43035" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>So alongside all the incredible diary that TFC writes, I think I've most learned from this thread that smartman doesn't much care for our Mod Squad mods <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Woah, I love the mods. The Superfly Effect was my mod of the year 2010 as the best mod ever. I just think something as Earth-shattering as locking the future down like that should be clearly noted in the notes and right below or above the download links. They have their views on what the mods should be (historical representation) while I have the opposite view (fun what-ifs). The rest is just quibbling over certain wrestler's stats which is an eternal debate with every mod.</p>
  15. <p>Not a prediction entry</p><p> </p><p> I just can't see the faces losing the match unless you're doing the CM Punk heel turn. I've never liked the "face is forced to be a heel" storyline as no one in real life has pulled it off that well [insert 3 people listing one(s) I've forgotten]. I would have suggested Lance until Easy E got himself fired because he needs a mouthpiece, and as big of a fan of Corino as I was at this time irl (sigh, MLW was really fun), he's not it. Basically, I'm pretty convinced that Storm is going to flounder as a single. Plus, I don't think you could do a turn on either of them since they turned face recently. Same with Eddie, and Rey as a heel makes zero sense.</p><p> </p><p> So, it really comes down to which face gets the pin and win. I'd say Eddie for the same reason as above. I'd love a Punk push, but that would gut the tag division and Storm. The only reason it isn't Eddie is if he's "not the image WCW and Bret want to project". Well, and that whole pre-set time decline/retirement annoyance that Mod Squad put in on a ton of people.</p>
  16. I'm going to assume you found this one and fixed it, but you might have overlooked it. For some reason, Jesse Ventura's contract locks him into a wrestler-only role. Did you accidentally set it that way trying for locking him to only out-of-the-ring roles? Lord knows I misclick things all the time in the game. Not sure if it would affect anything if you play as WWF, but I found that out when I went in as Vince to up Superstars to 2 hours. Btw, that sort of fixed WWF's show ratings as that gave them a male semi-main instead of having just two matches with the semi-main being a women's match. Their huge main event roster means the AI can still put on stinkers, but there's not much you can do on that. Really wish Adam would change the auto-push to push down instead of up so you'd have 5 or 6 main eventers like WWF did back then.
  17. Hahahahaha...Easy E getting busted with prostitutes is hilarious. I'd like to imagine it was when he was over in Japan too just because it would be funnier. Yeah, he's clearly not worth keeping around with the big penalty it would be. I'm guessing you're withholding the length of Austin's injury until the show recaps. Nice to know this wasn't going to be all smooth sailing to the top.
  18. Found a few more things that need to be tweaked. There's a duplicate Bill Mercer in the game named Jay London (search the US for good Mic workers or announcers). Same bio and pic. Jake Roberts is pretty much peak Snake, likely a little higher than he was coming out of WM3. He instantly pushed to my top face in JCP and is earning a couple thousand less than Flair when he's barely been pushed as a top guy at this point. Sting is also way too good stat-wise, which is likely the first time I've ever said that about him in any mod. He should be a prime developmental signee if you go that route, or just leave him in CWA and wherever else he gets signed to boost his stats. Not sure about Owen Hart's stats either as he was always viewed as kind of a prodigy. Sadly, Roberts and Magnum didn't get a lucky roll on tag chemistry as The Mustache Bros would have been an amazing team. Probably still going to run with that down the line as it's just neutral chemistry.
  19. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="TsuMirren" data-cite="TsuMirren" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45191" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I've added a few small broadcasters for WWW (obviously not updated in the links yet), so the ai may well look to add more...of course, the vast majority have "Must Cover Home" set as Yes to stop NJPW etc picking up a host of North American deals. That, sadly, then makes it impossible for American promotions to get the syndicate deals. One solution might be to just bang WWW on to the First Run Syndication broadcaster, which has all US areas as Medium. I should probably have an FRS with low or even small also as I've got ICW's TV on FRS. Would be nice if it was home country/area and not home region to allow regional expansion.<p> </p><p> JCP momentum is very much up for debate, suppose you could argue B.</p><p> </p><p> I was going to do the face/heel checks, definitely on my list and short term I'll fix Piper anyway.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Don't take the upgrade to momentum as a complaint or anything. That was just me trying to figure out how to lock in more than a pathetic 0.2 pop gain per show. I do know that other mods have a US Syndication broadcaster that covers the entire US instead of the multitude of small broadcasters that filled that role. It just makes it easier for the player to have one deal to handle instead of 9-11 deals. You might want to lower TBS' requirements just to ensure that they don't get dropped if the human is playing as them (they die if the AI plays them through narratives) as that 0.2 could prevent players from getting there. 1.8 (0.2 x 8 + 0.2 event) x 24 (2 year deal for Sat. Night on TBS)= 43.2 which likely won't hit National in a couple of regions depending on how the regional importance stands. Is anyone else going to ever hit Cult? You might want to just drop it to Cult with a 55 pop requirement in 8 regions instead of the National at 65 pop in I think 6 regions that they have right now.</p><p> </p><p> On that note, I also would suggest that you up the bottom level importance can go. I've always found that if it falls below 75 the AI can't keep a company at National. Basically, just assume that the AI will keep the pop around 74-77 and figure out how low you can go on that. I just automatically go into the mod and up the US regions to 75 now, but I thought I'd share that. It's fun to defeat your opponent but not like that.</p><p> </p><p> Now, I just have to go manage my horribly-bloated roster (I have a real problem <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> ), plot how Larry Z is going to join the newly-created 4 Horsemen (Ole got hired away which wasn't that big of a loss as he's a jerk), the US Tag title tournament, and more. So as always, thanks for the mod.</p><p> </p><p> PS--You might want to extend Superstars' length to try and force more matches. Anything to make up for the insane decision to remove match lengths from 16. NJPW does 2 matches per show as well. It's affecting WWF's ratings because they're running 2 matches, with one being a women's match so they're in the low-to-mid 70's when they should be higher.</p>
  20. <p>Okay, that might be as funny as Brother Midnight from River City Wrestling that the 6:05 podcast covered with Cornette and on his official podcast YT channel Arcadian Vanguard (his co-host's YT channel).</p><p> </p><p> Oh, and I just double-checked. Another legacy error from 87 is that Piper is set as a face. Might need to go through and just check that everyone in the WWF and JCP (though Nikita is the only one I saw though Manny Fernandez is the only heel on the 6-man tag which I don't think is right) is set properly. WWF did some glacial booking, especially by even mid-90's standards much less 2010 standards, but some things changed.</p><p> </p><p> And I went ahead and set WWW to air on TBS along with upping JCP's momentum to B and got a +0.6 gain everywhere but SE, but the show was better this time around, on a Big network, and run in Mid-Atlantic (lower pop than in the SE). So, I'm still confused. Network size has never mattered before, though I think it is supposed to, but I've been on lower than Big outside of WCW and WWF/E games.</p>
  21. <p>I was kind of hoping Adam, Derek, or Jaysin would pop in here with the answer. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> How do you delete a few of the title lineages? I tried to fix the JCP ones and couldn't figure out how to do it. I hope it isn't write everything down, delete it, create a new copy, enter everything in again. I have a feeling someone would have started an insane asylum for mod makers by now if that's the case.<img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Two errors I've found. 1) There's no Fabulous Ones (or The depending on your preference) in the mod. It picked up their title history once I added them in just fine, and the in-game editor lets you put in tag experience. They were my first real tag team so hold a special place in my heart. Also, Stan Lane's face should be higher than 50 as he was always a face in Memphis for those 4 years the Fabs were a thing. 2) Nikita Koloff was still a heel. You missed that when you imported from the 87 mod. The Koloffs win the tag titles in Nov., and he doesn't get turned face until after the day the NWA died aka Magnum's crash.</p><p> </p><p> Oh, and Honky Tonk Man is another one with low physical settings. Ted DiBiase too though that's a little debatable with a balance between all the grind he had pre-WWF and how much WWF just beat people down.</p>
  22. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="TsuMirren" data-cite="TsuMirren" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45191" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>As with pop, I genuinely do not have a clue. In my UWF diary, my pop gain in Tri State has basically ground to a halt. I even had a PPV, with medium coverage across the States, that hit a B- and got me zilch. My B- or C+ TV gets me 0.2, with Rude on there, more recently with Luger, Hayes and the Steiners too. I can only assume that Sportschannel America has small coverage and as such blah blah guesswork.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> PPV has always been 0.2 no matter who it is and how big the PPV provider is so I've just accepted that. The pop change was the single worst thing Adam did in 16. As for the other comment, I already stated that the product was medium positive trending so that isn't it. I just don't understand how a trending product, C+ momentum (I've edited it to B for my restart with a bunch of changes I've made just to see if that helps but I've had it that low before with 0.4), and B- or higher wrestling industry produces 0.2 when I've had lower in other mods and gotten 0.4.</p><p> </p><p> You just shouldn't be guessing at what is clearly the key stat of the game will be when you start a new game.<img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/mad.png.69834f23b9a8bf290d98375f56f1c794.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Oh, and I still have Matt's version and looked to see what he had WWW on, but he didn't even have it in there so that wasn't any help (granted he'd stated at the time that he wasn't done with TV when he abandoned it; I could run the converter and check if you want me to). I also fiddled with both shows prestige ratings mainly because I'd rather the AI try and get WCW on before the historically-2nd level show in WWW.</p>
  23. Since you're heavily-invested in historical accuracy, could I suggest that you pre-set some manager-client chemistry? I ran my first show with JCP and had Eaton and Cornette have horrible chemistry which may have been one of the worst things to ever happen in a TEW game that didn't involve a Kenny death. The only ones I could come up with off the top of my head would be Ellering and both Road Warriors and Eaton & Lane w/Cornette. Basically just reserve it for tag teams that were never managed by anyone else or you can't possibly see them being managed by anyone else. Also, this has been bugging me for a very long time, but I always chalked it up to TEW itself. Why do I get different pop gains in different mods? Some mods I get 0.4 all the time (my ROH game with the 2001 mod being one), TSE I got 0.6 with JCP, and some I get 0.2. Before someone hops in, this is with different fed sizes but with similar or equal network sizes and time slots and Medium Positive products. I'm asking because that first show gained me a whopping 0.2, and that is one of the best ways to get me to quit the game if I'm at Cult or lower. Basically, what do I need to adjust so I will get 0.4 or higher when the industry isn't in the toilet (this starts at B- and rising so it isn't that)? It's just incredibly annoying to spend all the time setting everything up only to find out you've been 0.2 whammied and sent to grind hell.
  24. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="45191" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I just have a real issue using wrestlers post-their death or inactive period. I get the fantasy part and the not set in stone, but I like to retain a certain amount of reality...it's my nod in their direction. Sadly Adam removed the ability to set someone as dead within the in game editor...strange decision in all honesty. That's made a few of my profile additions of noting historical deaths useless really (Tommy Lorne for example). So it's a personal thing, even more so since the passing of Drew McDonald who I booked a few times.<p> </p><p> As for contracts, it needs some sort of checks and balances...make people work a bit, build guys up, not just hoard everyone. You know, actually experience the era a little bit.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I knew the answer was very logical. Again, it is your prerogative as the maker of the mod. I just disagree with it but totally understand your point of view. There's a reason I love The Superfly Effect way more than I like TGA. Magnum being alive changes literally everything over the next 5 years so I don't want to see him retiring a year into the game. And I wanted a shot at signing Eddie as ROH in the 2001 mod. The contract lengths are more of an issue with regards to the National Battles that got added in 16. It's going to be a little difficult to compete with WWF as JCP in that area if you can't poach anyone.</p>
