It's been 2 months already?
I don't follow it as much as I used to, but hadn't even really felt the loss of Edge.
Just looked up and his debut was Oct 1st, so a little bit over 40 days. Still feels like he has done nothing in AEW yet.

What's up with AEW and killing momentum of their new signings?
There was no other big debut or big injury return when Edge/Copeland had his debut. He had the spotlight, only him. They have somehow managed to cool him down. He didn't do anything special or memorable except the shoot promo with Ricky Starks. He feels like another vet on the roster now.
Other than that, I am just happy Joe is back in the is in the Main event picture again. Him Vs MJF is going to give us some spicy promos.
TK has a huge problem with striking while the iron is hot.
I remember three situations from the top of my head:
- Thunder Rosa losing at Revolution just to win the championship two weeks later in her hometown. It wasn't the same.
- The Acclaimed losing at All Out just to win the championship at Grand Slam. It wasn't the same.
- Jade Cargill's story being stalled for what it felt like decades while they waited for Statlander to come back from injury and be the one to dethrone her.Copeland came in with huge hype, pulling in millions of views on Youtube and... he's had one singles match in two months.
Oh, and I forgot about Takeshita. He pinned Omega twice and nothing came out of it. Lately AEW feels like it's on hold. I'm really concerned about The Devil's reveal now, they are dropping the ball a lot.

Corgan claims there's still two TV deals on the table with a major network.
Did NWA or Billy ever confirm that CW was the network or was that a dirt sheet thing?
It was just a rumour. But Corgan is a big carny and Nick Hausman (the guy who reported) only knows what CM Punk tells him, so maybe there was never any truth to it.

Getting caught up on AEW and I'm probably in the minority, but wouldn't it be rad if Edge turned heel at Full Gear? It could lead to Sting vs Edge at Revolution.
He also need to wrestle more. One match in two months is not enough. All the hype is basically gone.

Sammy Guevara is born and bleeding a heel. Despite everything he does and how talented he is, he is a heel. To me, he's reached X-Pac go away heat. He is immensely talented, but he runs people badly, is involved in some rough incidents and is heavily protected. It's annoying and until he does a Jack Perry, or CM Punk, he'll always be in AEW.
That feud with American Top Team/Scorpio Sky was awful for everyone involved. Sammy and Tay got the spot that was supposed to be for Cody and Brandi (these two were really something else huh) and the whole program brought everyone down. Tay went from a badass judo black belt to a bad valet. They should not have been paired on screen IMO.

The CW is getting NXT now, so yeah, the slot is gone lol
That's the NWA for you
-
I love Sammy and yeah, he's way better as a heel. The vast majority of wrestlers are better as a heel.

It's nice that they've paired The Righteous with Jake The Snake. Could be good.
Penta vs Swerve is going to be amazing, everything else is a hard pass.

Tranquilo Club just posted this video and it's pretty much everything that I've been feeling lately.

Why is Daniel Garcia just randomly getting a world title match on Dynamite? Good lord it's like 2000's WCW now, just hotshotting world title matches on free TV with no build when they're also trying to sell a PPV that is headlined by a world title match.
Starting to think Tony has lost the plot.
Wait, what?
That can't be real, right?

Except ya know, being a legend. Sure that doesn't add a dang thing. Absolutely pointless to hire one of the biggest names in wrestling history.
🙄
If you don't understand hiring legends to help your brand, than I don't know what to tell you.
AEW absolutely does not need him. I was kinda fine with him being for Sting's last ride because of their history and all, but signing him for a multi-year deal is just a terrible decision.
-
Just awful. Flair has nothing to add at this point.
-
Well, that was a stinker lol
When I remembered to tune in yesterday, OC was making his entrance and I immediately turned it off. Saw the results this morning and fast forwarded through the show, nothing really interesting. Another boy that cried wolf HUGE announcement.
And with the DST ending this weekend, the shows are gonna end at midnight for me. Might skip more shows if this is what they keep doing.

- Maxwell is a marked man.
Oh yeah, that should be the normal thing from now on. Everyone should be targeting the World Champion. That's another reason why MJF should have dropped the ROH Tag Team belts to The Righteous (who have completely vanished btw)

Christian is a savage lol best heel in AEW right now
Collision is a must watch now. Hope they give it enough time, this is gonna be a banger.

I saw this tweet yesterday and I swear to god that I had completely forgot she is in this company lol

Collision was quite good. Miro vs Andretti was better than I expected. Still too many squashes. Good that they left quite some time for the main event again, they should do it every week for Collision.
I think it's the first time that Copeland didn't show up since his debut. I like it, it's better not having him on the show than just doing another promo, but I think he should be wrestling next week. He's not wrestling on Dynamite, I think, so I hope he will on Collision. Gotta keep him wrestling.
Oh, and the HOB takeover on Collision was awesome.
-
I like it. Hope there is a production improvement and they get a better stage too.

Was interested for a moment then saw one of the shows they'll be producing is a reality tv show. C'mon now the NWA is supposed to be professional wrestling, stop with the reality tv stuff.
I mean, it's not like I'm gonna watch either, but if Corgan could hustle not only one but two tv slots for his company, great for him. Way better than anyone would hope. Last time I saw they were behind a paywall on Fite. Don't know how many people were paying for that but I believe it's waaaay less than what CW can reach.
-
So apparently NWA has signed a TV Deal with The CW. Pretty good news for them.
Haven't watched anything since pre-pandemic but I might check out once they premiere.
-
Pretty good Dynamite. Great segments and good matches, except for the squashes and the battle royale. When I saw the people in the ring I lost all the interest I had.
Pretty sad to see Sting retiring but I'm glad he had this amazing run and can retire on his own terms.

It's been interesting reading everyone's takes on what is happening at AEW. I've been gradually losing interest in the product for about a year now. The actual wrestling is still great most of the time, but I find myself caring less and less about it. My main issues are these:
1. Too many cold, low stakes matches. Not every match needs a long build of course, but every match should have a reason for taking place. The old rankings system was a bit of a crutch, but at least everyone had a reason to fight. Tomorrow's Dynamite, for example, will have Kyle Fletcher v Kenny Omega, which I'm sure will be a very good wrestling match, but why is it happening? And, more importantly, why does it matter who wins?
2. Too much outside continuity. I'm sure Copeland and Cage's feud will be great, but it relies on 25 year-old history from another company. What if I'm new to wrestling or only watch AEW? Adam Copeland turning up will mean nothing to me. Same thing with Kota Ibushi. Who is he and why should I care? I don't watch NJPW, I have no idea about his history with Kenny Omega, so when Don Callis threatens Ibushi to get to Omega, I just shrug. Rampage this week has a big CMLL title v title match. Why!!?? I never even heard of CMLL. Why is this match happening on AEW television? I could go on and on here...
3. Adam Cole. This is more subjective, but nothing says indie-riffic to me more than this guy in the main event. I like him fine as a midcarder, but he doesn't look like an elite athlete who can deal out and absorb physical punishment. This guy could kick out of like four spinning avalanche piledrivers and be back on the attack in seconds. It's not just Cole, it's the Bucks, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara etc. All good guys to have on the roster, but when they're presented as the best the company has to offer, it just takes me out of the suspension of disbelief.
Very well said. Sometimes AEW feels like WWE lite. Meanwhile in the earlier Dynamites it was like watching the good parts of Nitro all over again. The wrestling is still good, specially on PPVs, but everything else is kinda missing.
Collision had a different feeling at first but in the past weeks it's basically a sequel to Dynamite.

It's hard not to have ex-WWE guys when they had a monopoly in the business for almost 20 years. AEW is yet to turn 5.
I'd have a problem if they signed people just because they were in WWE, like TNA did back then.

Kommander vs Cage was postponed which might have thrown off the pacing a bit. I'm assuming Lee's quick squash was added after that and the main event went a bit longer.
The pacing has been different from the earlier Collisions for a few weeks now. It's feeling more Dynamite-y with the rushed matches and segments. The main event last night got quite some time which is always nice. Dynamite's main events always get from 12 to 15 minutes while Collision usually has 20+ minutes.

Collision was okay. Some good matches. Rampage had a better card than usual, so good for them. But damn, three hours really is a lot of time. And then they taped ROH and there's five more hours for Full Gear tonight including zero hour. If someone sits through all that it's nine hours in two days. Even if it's the greatest wrestling in the world, it would still be way too much.
