  1. So apparently CM Punk is being CM Punk and creating more drama backstage. This is reaching Hogan levels of politicking.

I'm so done with all that that it's starting to sour the product for me.

This quote in the report is particularly embarrassing:

    Quote

When Punk first returned earlier this summer after his hiatus dating back to the prior year’s All Out media Q&A, Khan stood up backstage in the gorilla position with his headset on and started pumping his fist and chanting “C.M. Punk!” enthusiastically as Punk walked by. The feeling backstage among wrestlers not in a position of power with a big contract is to lay low when it comes to Punk because you don’t want to be on what is essentially his enemies list.

  2. The promos yesterday were really good. Starks is amazing, Toni Storm has shown more character in this promo than ever before and even Joe's quick promo after the squash was pretty good. Christian has become one of my favorites since turning heel. Hated him as a face, love him as a heel. Unfortunately Arn and his son showed up and I turned the TV off.

Collision's pace is perfect imo. Less matches and more time to breathe. On Dynamite everything feels rushed all the time.

  3. Swerve's segment was the high point of the show for me. Just incredible. This storyline just went up a notch.

It's good that they took the belt off Toni Storm. She's a good wrestler but this Outcasts thing is just not working. I hope that they try something else instead of just erasing her from TV for a while like they usually do when someone loses their belt.

And finally All In is on Fite!

  4. Good show tonight. The ladder match was my MOTN, great work by both guys and Julia.

FTR retaining was the right call, and damn I was glued to the screen until the very last second waiting for someone to attack lol wish they had given more than 20 minutes to the main event.

Fun trios match + Jay White in a cartboard lmao. I'm loving BC Gold!

When Punk was talking about being the world champ, I wish MJF would've come out to say anything. Someone else is claiming to be the world champion and the real world champion is backstage and there's no response? It's not like he wasn't in the building.

Dynamite's card next week doesn't excite me. Might just skip and get the results later.

  5. I was not expecting much from the card and tonight was just not good. All In is in a month and they are using Dynamite to turn AR Fox?

Well, at least Collision is gonna be a good time.

As a matter of fact, I don't think All In was mentioned once. I saw a graphic about Grand Slam but I don't recall any mentions of All In. As the second biggest show in history, you'd think everyone would be trying to get a spot in the show somehow.

  6. Good show tonight. I like the pacing of the show, minus CM Punk getting 30 minutes every week. Oh, and Paul Turner being an abysmal referee.

Starks with the Kevin Nash pyro lol
Jay White is incredible. I'm really getting into BC Gold.
Miro is still as over as he was. I liked that Comoroto attacked Miro during the entrance.
HOB's presentation is the best one right now. The lighting is amazing. Daddy Ass possibly retiring.
Taya getting a match with Britt lol

Next week's Collision looks better than Dynamite on paper. The Tag Title match and on top of that we are getting Buddy vs Andrade in a Ladder match.

The unfortunate thing is people have been saying that since the start. “Put some effort in and in 6 months the division could matter.” He never does and I don’t know if he will. AEW shouldn’t have attempted to start three divisions all at one time. They should’ve overtime established titles when fans clamored for it.

The Women's Division was always steps behind and that's okay. AEW was founded because of the perfect storm with The Elite, Jericho and Mox being available at the right time. The idea was to feature more joshi talent, but then covid happened and they had to scrap it.

But we're four years in and there's still no clear direction. Nowadays is not like the 00s, because there's actually skilled women out there and it should be easier than ever before to create stars. Still would be impossible to compare to WWE's Women's Division, for example, because it's been 10+ years now that they shifted from models to actual wrestlers and they're reaping the benefits.

Let's look at Taya, for example:
Debuted in March, four wins on Rampage, three being squashes, then lost a TBS title match against Jade.
One month later, beats Lady Frost, gets another TBS title shot, loses to Jade again.
Two weeks later, beats Trisha Adora in 3 minutes, another TBS title shot, another loss. This time to Statlander.
Next week, loses to Shida, then squashes a jobber and gets a World title shot, which she loses.

Four months in and she lost four title matches. She has a match on Collision tonight against Skye Blue. How is anyone supposed to take her seriously?

Where is the logic in having Willow win the Owen Hart Foundation tournament just to be jobbed out to Athena on the B-show a week later? They will probably have her fight Toni Storm now and we will all be expected to care like she hasn't already been made to look a goof on the developmental promotion. I just don't understand AEW now, nothing they do booking-wise seems to make any sense.

Imagine if WWE ran King of the Ring, gave the win to LA Knight and then their next move was having him lose to Carmelo Hayes on NXT? Why? Where is the sense in doing this?

That's the biggest problem in Tony Khan not acknowledging ROH what it should be - AEW's developmental company. It's the same thing as when he tried to convince everybody that Rampage was not a B-show yet the card was always really weak.

The women's division is in a terrible state right now, even when you count the ones that are out of action. If they started trying, the maybe, just maybe, in six months it could be passable.

Rick Knox is way worse. In TEW terms, his ref stat is like 32 and even worse in tag matches.

Knox I find funny, because he's so bad that it's crazy. They call him the tag team specialist and he's always completely lost.

That dance-off had me dying laughing. People think Cole will turn but it's MJF we're talking about here, he's always one step ahead. Curious to see where Sammy and DG go now that JAS is dead and Jericho is joining Don.
The Britt match made no sense. Just a quick squash with no beatdown, no promo, no follow-up, no direction. But I guess that's just the AEW Women's division. Just gotta get that one match on the show somehow.
Blood and Guts was good. It was the first time I saw Ibushi wrestling, I was not really impressed tbh. Pac vs Claudio will be a banger, but I'll wait to see if they announce something else that I like or I'll just not buy the PPV and get the results later. BCC has three defeats in a row against The Elite. Time to add one or two people and move on for a while.

I disagree. I think Adam Cole is terribly overrated, but this thing with him and MJF has been pure gold. That match, they had the crowd eating out of the palms of their hands. When Max finally hit the slam on Big Bill, the audience went, to quote the late great Pat Patterson, BANANA. When Cole and MJF finally hit that double clothesline, the crowd is going to make like it's Hogan body slamming Andre.

And the Harley rap segment was good. In fact, since she's a heel, or at least aligned with the heels, I'd go so far to say it was TOO good. Isn't the gimmick supposed to be she's BAD at this?

It's just personal opinion. I don't like some of the wrestlers so I just can't enjoy some segments they are in.

OC is the prime example. As soon as his theme hits, I mute the stream and just do whatever for fifteen minutes.

You are correct that they mention wins and losses like you would expect in wrestling... but they stopped displaying it on their website/twitter long ago and it doesn't factor into title shots now (which was the original premise). Too hard to to book around.

It's hard because they made it hard. They were trying to protect a lot of people at the same time and also have a bunch of people farming wins against jobbers on Dark.

How can you explain Scorpio Sky having 50 wins in a row on a youtube show that nobody is watching? You don't. That's why they got rid of it. The same goes to Marina Shafir, who was a lioness on Dark and a little cat on Dynamite.

The rankings are a good idea but you can't be afraid of having people winning and rising up in the rankings. FTR stalled a bit last year (or the year before, I don't recall exactly) when they were #1, no recent losses but couldn't challenge for the titles because they couldn't win at the time.

  12. Besides the main event, which was great, none of the other matches interested me. Lol at the Nitro ending when the feed is cut off during the run ins.
I love Don Callis just being a heat magnet. MJF is just amazing. Swerve vs Nick Wayne next week! Takeshita has such a great look now.

Cool use of more vignettes this week. They are trying to mix up the format a bit.

I would be stunned if New Japan allow AEW to do Omega vs. Ospreay twice. I'm sure the deal was probably for two matches - Omega goes over in Japan, Ospreay goes over in North America.

RevPro is running their biggest show ever during the All In weekend, it's their Anniversary show at the Copper Box Arena. Will Ospreay is wrestling Shingo Takagi and the Undisputed British Heavyweight title is held by Great-O-Khan. Considering RevPro have done tremendously well by New Japan in terms of both importing their talent for supercards and taking in wrestlers on excursion, I think NJPW will help their British friends in drawing a packed house and will withhold their talent from working the Wembley show.

I don't know anything about their relationship or history, but business wise this would be extremely dumb. If you can get your brand on one of the biggest wrestling shows of all time, you do it.

Cross-promotional events usually don't further many storylines --most of the matches don't further storylines and the big match outcomes are predictable.

For example, last year's AEW Forbidden Door had a few star vs. star matches for the titles and several multi-man matches to showcase talent.

AEW needs to build Forbidden Door to the big Wembley show (All In). This year could be different.

I think Kenny could drop the belt here to Ospreay. Would work for a best-of-three series (One match in NJPW, one at Forbidden Door and one for All In). Kenny could then win it back, there or down the road.

Who else do you think we'll get on the card? I think we'll see Takeshita and Bullet Club Gold vs. FTR at least.

    Forbidden Door.png

Last year a bunch of top guys were injured. This year, Omega vs Ospreay and Danielson vs Okada are already MOTY contenders.

I'd love to see Ospreay winning and then a third match at All In.
