4. I find this diary rather entertaining, usually good for a laugh or three.

 8.
And we have breaking news of the not so good variety...

Apparently, several promotions took a shining to Susumu Yokosuka following Summer Vacation. The CWO tried our best to match those offers.

Then All Japan came knocking with a written deal.

Game over.

We'll attempt to overcome the loss in a group effort. No one wrestler can cover this loss, but several could make things easier to deal with.

 9.
Summer Vacation

St. Louis National Armory

July Week 3 Sunday

21 People

Theme: Hash Pipe by Weezer

Oh, no. Two incidents to deal with.

Wait, Tim Storm and referee Ray Ramsey? Great.

Oh, they bonded over having green thumbs. Okay.

Meanwhile, Mike Foxx put on a cap and gown and came in to the locker room to Pomp and Circumstance. Cracked everyone up including the Best and Brightest.

Whew!

Preshow Angle 1: Miss Natural challenge

Miss Natural: Any woman in the back who has the guts and courage to lose to me in this ring...bring it on!

Rating: 31

Preshow Angle 2: Ariel steps up

Ariel: Miss Natural, you want a fight? I’ll give you one!

Rating: 12

Preshow Match: Ariel vs Miss Natural

Miss Natural is able to roll up Ariel for the three count, grabbing the tights to seal the deal.

Rating: 22

Thoughts: Not bad from both wrestlers. For her first match, Ariel did fine. And Miss Natural proved why she was picked the future by the creative team.

Angle: Havoc and James Maritato confront each other.

Havoc: I’ve gone through training in the Army that’s tougher than my opponent who claimed in the past to be a Full Blooded Italian.

James Maritato appears.

James: Cute, real cute. You think that just because you have a submission finisher that you can keep up with me? Ha, ha, dude. I’m going to wrestle rings around you before locking in that Sicilian Crab.

Havoc laughs.

Havoc: It’s kind of hard to lock in that Crab when you don’t have any arms left. I’m bigger, I’m stronger. And my Dishonorable Discharge will have you tapping in the middle of the ring.

James: Where I come from, I have a saying: The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

The two staredown. Referee steps in the way to keep them from squaring off.

Rating: 42

Match: Cruiserweight Title Match between Andy Douglas/Austin Aries/Hook Bomberry/Luke Hawx/Matt Cross/Roderick Strong

After about 12 minutes or so, Austin Aries pins Hook Bomberry in the ring to take the belt.

Rating: 22

Thoughts: Was hoping for a bit more. Aries would be a good first champion and Roderick Strong has potential, but I could use a face or two to offer a challenge. Maybe Paul London?

Angle: Marvelous Mike plans on beating JC Ice.

Marvelous Mike: Here we go again. Another month, another opponent who will be no match to these muscles.

He kisses his biceps.

Marvelous Mike: JC Ice, you may think you’re cool. The C-Dub may think you’re cool. But I’m going to thaw you out tonight leaving you a puddle in the ring.

Rating: 22

Thoughts: Maybe it’s not going over as well as I thought.

Match: Kevin Northcutt vs Mike Foxx

Mike Foxx eventually lays out Northcutt for the 1-2-3.

Rating: 32

Thoughts: Maybe the gimmick isn’t getting over, but no complaints from him in the ring.

Angle: RD Evans plans to hurt Danny Doring

Evans: My opponent tonight claims to be Delightful. All I can say is that he’s guilty of perpetrating a fraud. There’s nothing delightful at all about coming from extreme failure and pretending that you’re clean cut. You’ve seen some of these matches? He should be hit with contempt of court for lying to you. When I hit that Dismissal tonight, there’ll be no question his case will be tossed out.

Rating: 32

Thoughts: RD’s gimmick is getting over and I could see me doing more of this.

Match: JC Ice vs Mike Dell

Mike Dell makes Ice submit to the Posedown (Torture Rack)

Rating: 32

Thoughts: Mike Dell is a good talker and solid in the ring. Thumbs up.

Angle: Marvelous Mike continues to humiliate

Not having had enough of beating up Ice, Marvelous Mike locks in the Perfect Clutch. JC attempts tapping out wildly, but to no avail until the ref finally convinces him to let go.

Rating: 13

Match: Show Me Title bout between Bo Cooper/Chris Burnett/Eric Priest/Jason Cross/Kevin Douglas/Trevor Rhodes

After about 10 minutes, Kevin Douglas pins Jason Cross to win the Show Me title.

Rating: 30

Thoughts: Kevin is a good first champion, but I’m not sure who’ll be a suitable opponent. Perhaps Bo Cooper if I wasn’t worried about heel/face. Maybe Mike Dell? Roderick Strong? Questions.

Angle: Akio Sato interviews Kyon Sun about Susumu’s match with Billy Bax.

Akio: How confident are you that Susumu Yokosuka will beat Billy Bax tonight?

Kyon: I have the utmost confidence that Susumu will win yet again.

Akio: Are you disappointed that your client hasn’t been chosen for any title matches yet?

Kyon: We keep proving ourselves and it will come.

Rating: 22

Match: Danny Doring vs RD Evans

Danny Doring is able to pin RD Evans after he gets distracted by Mike Foxx coming to ringside.

Rating: 37

Thoughts: Not bad. I’d like to give RD a few wins so he can be strong for a rematch.

Angle: RD Evans and Mike Foxx brawl after the match

Rating: 20

Match: Billy Bax vs Susumu Yokosuka

Susumu Yokosuka forces Billy Bax to tap out after applying the Rising Sun crossface.

Rating: 37

Thoughts: Good to know there’s some good chemistry between Susumu and Billy.

Angle: Tim Storm vows to beat Sammy Sheridan

Storm: They say that you’re a rock star, Sammy. And that’s alright. But after hearing some of your tunes, it’s not the sort of rock and roll that I like to hear. I prefer the sounds of heavy metal, the screams of torture, the wails of guitars. It’s soothing. Tonight, I’m going to make you experience the sounds of heavy metal and it’ll make you so much better.

Rating: 25

Match: Sammy Sheridan vs Tim Storm

Tim Storm makes Sheridan tap out to the Storm Warning (STF).

Rating: 26

Angle: Brian Clarkson announces Carl Ouelett vs Shockwave tonight.

Brian: Got a great match for you tonight as Carl and Shockwave square off. I hope you enjoy.

Rating: 15

Thoughts: Must keep remembering that I’m a heel authority figure and not a face.

Match: Carl Ouelett vs Shockwave the Robot

A La Cannonball from Ouelett is enough to take out the breakdancing robot by pinfall.

Rating: 31

Angle: Gail Kim shoots T-Shirts at our fans

Rating: 68

Thoughts: I think this is a new peak?

Match: World Title Match between Havoc and James Maritato

After nearly twenty minutes of back and forth action between James trying to work the right leg and Havoc clobbering James to set himself up, the finish came when Chris Burnett trips Maritato while the ref’s back was turned. But paying attention was Havoc who took down his opponent and locked in the Dishonorable Discharge. After a terrific struggle, James finally taps.

Rating: 39

Thoughts: Solid. I gave both plenty of time to make it work and they’re both skilled enough in the ring. I did have to make James look strong, but it’s only fair.

Angle: The Rockstarz saves James Maritato from Brian’s Army

Havoc isn’t done with James after the match so he puts boots on his opponent. He gets some help from Kevin Northcutt and The Best and Brightest. Things look bad.

Until Sammy and Hook show up with some steel chairs in tow and they get the attackers to back away from James. After they leave the ramp, Sammy and Hook wrap their arms around James and help him back to his feet to applause.

Rating: 12

Thoughts: This sets up the next part of the story. But I’m not sure why I do post-match shenanigans. They ALWAYS rate poorly for me.

Final Show Rating: 41/D

Thoughts: A new peak! I’ve been trying this for years and I don’t think I’ve ever done this well at the start.

MVPs:

James Maritato---46

Susumu Yokosuka---43

Danny Doring---39

Kevin Douglas---37

LVPs:

Jason Cross---19

Sammy Sheridan---19

Luke Hawx---19

Hook Bomberry---19

 10. I do like Drew McIntyre as the lead. Was always a fan of him as The Chosen One gimmick. Cesaro is a good workhorse in the Arn/HHH role and would work here. For the young stud with potential, EC3 would be a good call. But who to play the power merchant/muscle of the team? Maybe Donovan Dijakovic? Killian Dain?
 11. Match Card MLW World Heavyweight Title Match Low-Ki © vs. Jeff Cobb Comments: This will be a barnburner for sure. MLW World Tag Team Title Match The Lucha Brothers © w/Salina de La Renta vs. Rebel Cell Comments: I expect them to be champs for a while. Lance Anoa'i and Afa Anoa'i Jr. vs. Smash N Dash Connection Comments: Blood is thicker than water. Hardcore Match Darby Allin vs. Jimmy Havoc w/Priscilla Kelly Comments: When in doubt, put money on the heel with a manager. MJF and ???? vs. The Rascalz Comments: Why do I have a feeling another wrestler is going to get involved in this? 3 Way Elimination Match Brian Pillman Jr. vs. Fred Yehi vs. Rich Swann Comments: I think Pillman finds a way to pull another one. Bonus (2 points): Who will MJF choose as his tag team partner? Sammy Guevara

 13.
in the hopes of bolstering our Valkyrie division, we sign Ariel and Ms. Chif to PPA contracts.

The unofficial theme song to Summer Vacation in July 2001 is Hash Pipe by Weezer.

The card is starting to shape itself nicely, featuring three title matches and other interesting bouts. It will be revealed shortly.

 14.
I do some figuring on a desk calculator. Then I call the Grand Poobah from the office.

Hi, Poobah, are you aware that the CWO has lost $50,000 for me already?

Yeah, that's one tenth of one percent of your fortune.

I don't feel like we're getting anywhere...

And that's where you're wrong. Let me read you some fan mail.

The next few minutes restored some enthusiasm. There were letters from Mexico City, Toronto, Seattle, Boston, Miami among other places.

Oh, and apparently Fuddrucker's wants in for next month.

Random, but OK.

Just have patience. I think within two years we'll start to take off.

I hope he's right.

 15.
Blown Away 2001

June Sunday Week 3

St. Louis National Armory

16 people

Theme: Bodies by Drowning Pool

Angle: The Semifinalists for the World Title Argue

Havoc, Danny Doring, Carl Ouelett and James Maritato take turns in the ring arguing they should be crowned inaugural champion of the CWO world.

Rating: 33

Thoughts: A good start to this show. Especially considering Doring is not a mic person. Like, at all.

Match: Andy Douglas/Jason Cross vs Austin Aries/Roderick Strong

Austin Aries pins Jason Cross with the help of some tights.

Rating: 24

Thoughts: Was hoping for good tag chemistry somewhere. But thanks to the growth of Aries and Strong, I might could see them tagging again as The Future (based on their characters).

Angle: Amber O’Neal cocky on beating Lacey

Rating: 19

Thoughts: Wanted some hype for this one. It felt like a letdown after the heat of the previous angle and match.

Match: Amber O’Neal vs Lacey

Amber O’Neal pins Lacey

Rating: 14

Thoughts: Bleh. No bad chemistry like with our other women’s match. But neither one looks like promising threats for the Women’s title. Depending on how I do this, Lacey could be the first to take on Jazz in the pre-card.

Angle: The Best and Brightest plan on beating the Rockerz

Bax: Not only are we smarter than those band freaks, we’re better than them too.

Burnett: The smartest team in pro wrestling are going to take them down for the 1-2-3.

Rating: 17

Thoughts: No complaints about tag chemistry, so I’ll take that. But wow at that drop from the opening segment. Most of these wrestlers aren’t over just yet.

Match: Billy Bax/Chris Burnett vs Hook Bomberry/Sammy Sheridan

Via pinfall, Sammy Sheridan wins over Chris Burnett

Ratings: 23

Thoughts: Although there was no great/good chemistry, there was no awful chemistry either. Save for Hook and manager Lacey and that alliance shall end. Good enough. Bax and Burnett will be known as The Best and Brightest while Bomberry and Sheridan will be known as the Rockerz.

Angle: Marvelous Mike Dell boasts of victory over Susumu.

Mike poses in front of a mirror, flexing.

Dell: Look at these muscles, this flash of perfection. It’s only going to be a matter of time before I step up to the World title chase. Tonight, it begins as I take out Yokozuna, er Yokosuka. He might be talented in the ring, but I don’t need a support team or a translator. Because pain is translatable to 120 languages, including Japanese. And tonight, I’ll bring the pain!

Rating: 22

Thoughts: I like the idea of a regular posing segment. Imagine the Narcissist but only he can talk.

Match: Bo Cooper vs Kevin Northcutt

Kevin Northcutt eventually pins Cooper with his feet on the ropes.

Rating: 23

Thoughts: Tried something different with a wild brawl between two of our hosses. Northcutt was really off his game. Still, could have been worse.

Angle: Kyon Sun pushes Susumu as the victor in tonight’s matchup.

Susumu: Speaks Japanese

Kyon: My client wishes to remind Marvelous Mike Dell that he lost last month in Cruel Intentions.

Susumu: Speaks Japanese

Kyon: My client won his match that night and tonight at Blown Away, both streaks continue.

Rating: 18

Thoughts: Sun might be able to speak Japanese, but her mic rating was pretty bad. If I can get Yokosuka to understand and speak English, he looks like he’ll be pretty good.

Match: Paul London/Shockwave the Robot vs Tim Storm/Trevor Rhodes

Shockwave the Robot forced Rhodes to submit.

Rating: 27

Thoughts: A bit more like it. No chemistry between London and Shockwave means that team is out. But Storm and Rhodes both stepped up this time, meaning I might have a fourth tag team for now.

Angle: Eric Priest and Kevin Douglas argue

Priest: The best burger in St. Louis is Fuddrucker’s.

K. Douglas: No, it’s Burger King.

Priest: Only an idiot would scoff at the million toppings at Fuddruckers.

K. Douglas: And only an idiot would scoff at having it your way. See you in the ring.

Rating: 28

Thoughts: Wanted to give a couple of people something to do.

Match: Eric Priest vs Kevin Douglas

Kevin Douglas pins Priest to win some brownie points for the home of the Whopper.

Rating: 32

Thoughts: I hate how it took half the show to almost match our opening segment rating. But perhaps everyone is warmed up by now.

Angle: RD Evans brags about winning tonight’s match with Mike Foxx.

Evans: I cost you your chance to win the CWO World title last month at Cruel Intentions. If you can let me distract you in the middle of a match, then you have zero chance to best this Canadian lawyer in the ring tonight. After I hit the Dismissal, you’ll be thrown out of court by your ear.

Rating: 35

Thoughts: Evans is quite the talker. I was fearing one too many legal terms in his speech, but he pulled it off like a champ.

Match: Mike Dell vs Susumu Yokosuka

Yokosuka pins Dell in the ring.

Rating: 33

Thoughts: There we go. Although Yokosuka did a bit worse this time, the match is what we need in order to turn things around in this card.

Angle: Mike Foxx plans on winning tonight.

Foxx: RD, you’re just the pesky little brat. Not only did you try to argue with me last month, you stuck your nose where it don’t belong and cost me my match with Carl Ouelett. Well, tonight, you’re going to the ring with me. Where I come from, there’s no lawsuits, no trial. We settle things man to man, fist to fist.

Rating: 25

Thoughts: Hopefully, we start to rebuild things tonight for Mr. Foxx.

Match: Mike Foxx vs RD Evans

Foxx forces Evans to tap out in the ring.

Rating: 26

Thoughts: Was hoping for more, frankly. Both wrestlers scored higher than the final match and this feud has been going since Cruel Intentions. But I see no signs of stopping for now.

Angle: Havoc talks smack about Danny Doring

Havoc: I’m a soldier of fortune. Tonight, I’m going to take pretty boy Danny Doring and run him through the gauntlet. My fists will serve as his introduction to combat and my wrestling will serve as his crucible. He will be found wanting like everyone who faces me.

Rating: 34

Thoughts: Wanted to build up Havoc’s character a bit more. Worked out pretty well.

Match: Danny Doring vs Havoc

Havoc makes Doring tap out to the Dishonorable Discharge.

Rating: 36

Thoughts: Considering Havoc was off his game, I’m fine with this result. Can’t wait for the World Championship match at Summer Vacation.

Angle: Miss Natural shoots T-Shirts

What it says on the tin.

Rating: 42

Thoughts: I’m guessing her looks aren’t as good as some of the others. But that’s fine because my hopes are she’ll have a nice match with Beth Phoenix at Summer Vacation.

Match: Carl Ouelett vs James Maritato

Maritato forces Ouelett to submit to the Sicilian Crab.

Rating: 36

Thoughts: Fine main event. Wonder what would have happened if James wasn’t really off his game. This final match with Havoc should be a barnburner.

Angle: Kevin Northcutt attacks James Maritato

Not done for the night, Northcutt makes his way towards an exhausted Maritato who can’t resist several powerbombs and Kevin’s finisher WMD.

Rating: 19

Thoughts: Wanted to end things on a cliffhanger for Summer Vacation. Will James make the final match of the CWO World tourney?

Final Rating: 36/D-

 16.
Just prior to Blown Away, I get tapped on the shoulder by Hook Bomberry.

What do you want?

I need to tell you what happened earlier...

A few minutes later, I call Havoc up to the office for a brief chat.

Did you honestly tease Hook about his push?

Havoc cracks a smile.

Yeah, I did. It's not he even got used last month...

Would you be OK with it if the situation was reversed?

Havoc's smile vanishes.

No, I wouldn't.

Look. The Grand Poobah sees something big in you. And if last month was any indication, I see promise in you as well. But you can't let it go to your head. Don't let this happen again.

I won't, sir. I'll do better.

Good. See Nite and Tommy for instructions for your match tonight with Danny.

A humbled Havoc leaves.

I sigh as I take a final look at the matches for tonight.

 17.
The card for Blown Away is revealed (aka prediction time):

CWO World Title Semifinals:

Danny Doring vs Havoc

Carl Ouelett vs James Maritato

Non-Tournament Matches:

Andy Douglas/Jason Cross vs Austin Aries/Roderick Strong

Amber O'Neal vs Lacey

Billy Bax/Chris Burnett v Hook Bomberry/Sammy Sheridan

Bo Cooper v Kevin Northcutt

Paul London/Shockwave the Robot v Tim Storm/Trevor Rhodes

Eric Priest v Kevin Douglas

Mike Dell v Susumu Yokosuka

Mike Foxx v RD Evans

Winner after 12 monthly cards gets to pick a future world champ, Second place gets to pick a future Show Me champ (like US/Intercontinental), Third place gets to pick a future Cruiserweight/Valkyrie champion.

 18.
As Blown Away approaches in June, the CWO announces the signing of three talents:

Sammy Sheridan: Previously known as Adam Thornstowe, he's been given a rocker gimmick and will have a chance to prove himself.

Chris Burnett: Formerly known as Chris Nowitzky, he's been given a Valedictorian gimmick and will have a chance to show his talents.

Kyon Sun: Previously known as Kimona in ECW and Leia Meow in WCW, she's going to be an Old School Valet and translator for Susumu Yokosuka. She most recently worked for the HWA before quitting after a dispute with Les Thatcher.

 20.
I'll take a crack at this:

MLW World Heavyweight Title Match

Low-Ki © vs. "Filthy" Tom Lawlor

Comments: Too soon to see him give up the title, but perhaps Lawlor wins by DQ?

MLW World Middleweight Title Match

Maxwell Jacob Friedman © vs. Trey Miguel

Comments: I think he'll be champ for awhile.

MLW World Tag Team Title Match

The Lucha Brothers © vs. The Smash and Dash Connection

Comments: Another retention. Hoping that Jeff keeps the champs looking strong.

Brian Pillman Jr. vs. Fred Yehi

Comments: This could go either way.

Cade and Yuta vs. The Dirty Blondes

Comments: I'm betting on size to prevail here.

MVP vs. Jake Hager

Comments: I think he'll win by tapout.

Bonus (2 points): Jeff Jarrett has just signed a new talent to be the backstage interviewer. Who is it? (hint, it's a female): Lillian Garcia

 21. What difference does it make between a wrestler being off his game or really off his game?
 22. I'm definitely keeping my eyes open to see how things progress here. Best of luck!
 23.
From the St. Louis National Guard Armory, 11 people showed for Cruel Intentions 2001

Angle: I’m the Boss

Brian: I’ve come here tonight to introduce a fine group of people. A mix of the stars of today and tomorrow who you’re gonna love. This is the C-W-O!

Rating: 12

Thoughts: Just a little something to hype/warn people about the wrestling card they’re going to see. Hopefully, things get better.

Match: Billy Bax/Roderick Strong vs Paul London and Andy Douglas

Billy Bax makes Andy Douglas submit.

Rating: 22

Thoughts: I’m trying to make Billy Bax a star here at CWO so he got the W. Of course, him and Douglas both got Off Their Game deductions. I do believe Roderick Strong and Paul London also have potential to be very good and both got relatively good ratings.

Angle: Do It My Way or Else

I come back to the ring to confront James Maritato.

Brian: I can see you’re talented. But I want to give you a warning. You can either do things my way or I can make your life a living hell.

Rating: 10

Thoughts: Maybe I’m on this card too much already? Dunno. But if this can catch fire like the Steve Austin/Vince McMahon feud did, then maybe we can build from there. At least James’s gimmick clicked.

Match: Gail Kim vs Susan Morton

Gail Kim wins by pinfall.

Rating: 20

Susan’s Old School Heel gimmick didn’t take off. Gail Kim’s Brains and Beauty did. But she was really off her game and I worry about making her women’s champion even though she’s the one highest up on the card.

Angle: Not Your Way

James Maritito bumps into Brian backstage.

James: I’ve been doing some thinking about what you said earlier. And I’ve decided that I’d rather do things my way.

James beats me up and takes a jar of marinara and pours it over me.

Rating: 22

Thoughts: It seems like I’ve hit a glass ceiling of 22 so far which isn’t promising. But then again, this did gain 10 points over both previous segments I was in. So progress? At least the storyline is gaining heat.

Match: JC Ice and Jason Cross vs Mike Dell and Eric Priest

Cross prevails by pinning Eric Priest.

Rating: 28

Thoughts: Ceiling broken. It helped that Mike Dell had the best performance thus far and JC Ice had the third best (Second went to Paul London). Both Cross and Priest struggled to keep up, but they’re both young enough that improvement should happen.

Angle: Evans and Foxx argue.

RD Evans: I’m the best wrestler in this promotion. And they can’t even put me in their tournament.

Mike Foxx: That’s because you’re the 9th best wrestler. You’re lucky that they even gave you a match tonight.

The two start getting in each other’s faces, talking smack.

Brian: Break it up. Both of you have matches tonight and I suggest you save your energy on your opponents. If Mike gets eliminated, we can talk about the two of you squaring off.

RD: You got a little marinara in your hair, still.

Mike: What happened to your eye?

Brian: Enough!

RD and Mike head towards separate locker rooms.

Rating: 25

Thoughts: Started a storyline putting two of my best talkers against each other. Hoping to get Mike Foxx to help RD improve as a wrestler. Not helping is that Mike Foxx has an awful Bad Ass gimmick. And I’m in here more times than Triple H is on WWF at this point.

Match: RD Evans vs Kevin Douglas

Evans pins Douglas with the help of some tights.

Rating: 34

Thoughts: Nice ratings from Evans and K. Douglas. Like Foxx, Douglas is from Texas and hasn’t done much for a big promotion. But he’s plenty skilled and I see potential for big things to come.

Angle: Marvelous Mike talks

Mike Dell stands in front of a mirror, showing off his many muscles.

Mike: Yeah, I might have lost tonight. But Eric Priest held me back. It’s going to be only a matter of time before the Marvelous One, Mike Dell, takes control of the CWO. Ladies will feast their eyes on me and the men will be jealous of me. And it will be...marvelous to behold.

Rating: 29

Thoughts: I needed a talk segment and remembered that Dell was decent in front of a microphone. Not sure if he’s World material. But he could contend for the Show Me title.

Match: Susumu Yokosuka/Luke Hawx vs Matt Cross/Austin Aries

Yokosuka defeats Aries by pinfall.

Rating: 29

Thoughts: And Yokosuka looks truly like a star with the highest rating of the night (38). He stood heads and shoulders above the rest of them. Considering Aries was Enhancement Talent, he took the pin.

Angle: Brian talks to Northcutt

Backstage, Brian talks to Kevin Northcutt.

Brian: Tonight, you have an opportunity to make things right by taking James Maritato out of the tournament and putting yourself one match closer to the World title. I suggest you win. If you can’t, then destroy him.

Kevin: I’m sorry I couldn’t have helped you earlier. But I’ll take care of business against him.

Kevin walks away determined.

Rating: 22

Thoughts: Kevin Northcutt was rated great as a bodyguard. This was cooked up to continue the storyline and remind people that tonight is round one of the world title tournament. Oh, and I had to be in ONE more segment. LOL.

Match: Bo Cooper vs Trevor Rhodes

Bo Cooper wins the match by pinfall.

Rating: 22

Thoughts: Was hoping for a bit more than this. In my previous save, Trevor Rhodes was my world champ and Bo has a nice look for a big man. But both of them were kind of underwhelming.

Angle: Tim the Monster

Backstage with Tim Storm

Tim: Tonight, 8 of us are competing for the world title. But all I can think of is that 7 of them are going to find out how far I’m willing to go. Take people out with chairs or tables? Yeah, I can do that. Powerbombs on the steel barricades or concrete floor? I can do that. The storm is brewing inside and none of you are going to be prepared for tonight.

Rating: 31

Thoughts: Storm has a below average gimmick. But at the same time, this is the second highest rating segment of tonight so something did go right.

Match: Danny Doring vs Tim Storm

Doring wins by pinfall

Rating: 36

Thoughts: New peak! It helped that Doring showed up with the highest rating of the night and Storm wasn’t shabby either (25). Doring needed the win because he’s rated high in the Midwest and I want interest to continue into the second round in Blown Away. Also, both Doring (Clean Cut) and Storm are below average with their gimmicks.

Angle: Doring celebrates.

Having won his first round match, Danny celebrates in the ring to the crowd.

Rating: 31

Thoughts: Tied for highest rating among the angles. It’s fine.

Match: James Maritato vs Kevin Northcutt

Although Kevin tried to use his power to prevail, Maritato wins by submission with the Sicilian Crab.

Rating: 31

Thoughts: Solid matchup between two wrestlers with different styles. I’ve got big things planned for James at least for the first year. He came through with a 37 (third highest score of the night) and carried Northcutt into a passable match (for us).

Angle: Mike Foxx plans to win tonight.

Mike: Tonight, I’m going to take out the French Phenom Carl Ouelett and pound him into a bloody pulp.

Rating: 24

Thoughts: I’m guessing the poor gimmick hurt him. But he can go on the mic and I’m going to give him many opportunities to do so.

Match: Carl Ouelett vs Mike Foxx

A distraction by RD Evans allows Ouelett to sneak in a low blow and pin Foxx to the mat.

Rating: 29

Thoughts: I messed up. I neglected to check how much time I allotted for this match. I was wanting at least 12 minutes, but I had left it at 1. Oof. Hopefully, Mike will forgive me for the start of his CWO career. At least I now have another match for Blown Away.

Angle: Beth Phoenix shoots T-Shirts.

Young wrestler Beth spends 5 minutes shooting a T-Shirt gun at our audience.

Rating: 57

Thoughts: I’m all about women’s wrestling being taken seriously. But at the same time, I also want to use the strengths of our wrestlers to bring people back in the future...and hype them up for the main event.

Match: Havoc vs Shockwave the Robot

Havoc uses his size advantage to powerbomb his opponent to the mat.

Rating: 25

Thoughts: Disappointing. Considering both made the top 5 of my Creative Control meeting, I was hoping they’d do better. Havoc was a bit off his game, but fine. Shockwave was entertaining, but raw. I think I picked poorly in the main event.

Angle: Doring saves Shockwave from Havoc.

Havoc isn’t quite done with Shockwave and continues beating him up after the win. Danny Doring runs to the ring and keeps things from getting out of hand.

Rating: 16

Thoughts: Tried to do a little something to end the show. It didn’t quite work, but at least the faces stood tall.

Overall Rating: 32 (E+)

Thoughts: Not bad overall. Might be my best opening show that I’ve done in TEW. Hopefully, it continues to amp up.

MVPs:

Danny Doring (39)

Susumu Yokosuka (38)

James Maritato (37)

Kevin Douglas (34)

LVPs:

Gail Kim (12) Really off her Game

Andy Douglas (15) Off his game

Luke Hawx (17)

Matt Cross (17)

 24. And the build has begun towards Cruel Intentions, the first event in the CWO history: Billy Bax & Roderick Strong vs Paul London & Andy Douglas Gail Kim vs Susan Morton JC Ice & Jason Cross vs Mike Dell & Eric Priest RD Evans vs Kevin Douglas Susumu Yokosuka & Luke Hawx vs Matt Cross & Austin Aries Bo Cooper vs Trevor Rhodes World Title First Round Matches: Danny Doring vs Tim Storm James Maritato vs Kevin Northcutt Carl Ouelett vs Mike Foxx Havoc vs Shockwave the Robot Which match gets the highest score? I'll give y'all a couple of days to predict. Best three guessers by Cruel Intentions 2002 (one year of game time) will win something. Highest scorer: Future World Champion Second highest: Future Show Me champion Third highest: Future Valkyrie or Cruiserweight champion.
