The Piledriver School of Wrestling boasts some of the biggest names in professional wrestling amongst its graduates. Skull DeBones, Jack Bruce and Rick Law all graced the prestigious facility at once point and as time goes on, more and more of what will become legendary workers have graduated. In 2010, Jonah Pilgrim found his way on to the independent circuit, with the top-class credentials of the Piledriver School. Unfortunately for Jonah, he looked more like a fan than a wrestler. He was big. But kind of pudgy. Tall. But kind of lanky. He was a funny guy who looked more suited to stand-up comedy than professional wrestling.</p><p> </p><p>

Fortunately for Jonah, he was resourceful, quick-witted, and able to use his appearance to his advantage. He spent a number of years working some of the most highly acclaimed comedy bouts on the independent circuit all across the Eastern United States before Sam Keith spotted him and set him up with a job in Mid Atlantic Wrestling. Indie pop-up shows were good fun, but if he wanted to make a name for himself in the business, Jonah knew he had to find a real place to ply his trade, and none were better than MAW. </p><p> </p><p>

The day he signed for MAW he was told he’d be paired up with Hal Harvard, real name Benjamin Cardillo, as a kind of frat boy team. Jonah had no issues with that, it was a good use of his talents. Ben was a weird guy. Very secretive, kept to himself and whenever he and Jonah needed to talk about a match or an angle they always did it in Jonah’s place, which was weird for him considering he still lived with his mother and sisters at the time. There was even a time when Jonah could have sworn, he heard Benjamin say “affirmative” to his mother over the phone, but he assumed they were just one of those military families.</p><p> </p><p>

The night before Ben left to go to SWF after signing a big money contract, Jonah took him out for a drink. There, in a dark bar with the smell of old whiskey hanging in the air Benjamin told Jonah “Listen buddy, I’m going to do something big when I get to SWF, just you watch.”</p><p> </p><p>

Jonah, happy for and proud of his friend clinked a glass against his and said “Of course you will buddy, and with some luck, I’ll be joining you soon. Maybe we can get the Pack back together what do you say?”</p><p> </p><p>

Ben smiled to himself and said, “You don’t get it Jonah, I’m going to change the world.”</p><p> </p><p>

Another weird one in a long line of weird ones, Jonah shrugged his shoulders and continued his celebrations with his friend. When the truth behind Operation Lullaby came out, and Jonah discovered why Ben had really gotten into wrestling, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride for his friend. The two talk occasionally, and Jonah even got to meet Ben’s wife and daughter that he couldn’t talk about while the two worked together.</p>

  3. Simulating until August 1940 (1332 active wrestlers) this is what I got, leaving out gimmick stuff, basic personalities, future staff and attributes a worker can gain and lose and doesn't debut with.

Keeping in mind that some workers have more than one attribute that only appears once, I think there should be a bit of a boost to attributes appearing.

    <img alt="S6XMtek.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/S6XMtek.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Charisma vacuum does not accurately describe Josh Jones. A vacuum suggests that at some point form the dawn to the end of time, that something could feasibly have existed in that space. That given some miracle, some great cosmic shift, that charisma could inhabit Josh Jones. To make this claim would be to lie. Josh Jones was, is, and always will be a boring man. Then, now, forever.</p><p> </p><p>

Josh went to great pains to stop being the human embodiment of the colour beige. He took improv classes, acting classes, dance classes, jujitsu classes, and he even joined a book club in the hope that literary classics would provide some kind of existential eureka moment in which the secrets of being an engaging person were revealed in some kind of blinding flash. None of these things happened.</p><p> </p><p>

Josh worked during the week as a high school P.E. teacher, and somehow he found students sleeping through his classes. Standing. Totally upright and at attention, students’ heads would lol and they would snap to attention as if some kind of spectral entity had invaded their corporeal being.</p><p> </p><p>

Imagine then, that you are the best wrestler in the world – if the world consisted solely of the Baltimore metropolitan area – yet acted so stiff you didn’t get the part of the tree in your middle school production of The Wizard of Oz because you were “too wooden”. This was the conundrum Josh Jones found himself in going into 2020. No big company would ever get behind him, even Mid Atlantic Wrestling treated him as nothing more than a solid hand. He was being used as the measuring stick against which new recruits were tested. Marvin Gallagher was the first to take the test and he was performing well, but Josh couldn’t help but feel he had more to give. He had heard about the altercation in Sam Keith’s office. Telegram, telephone and all that, and that wasn’t how he wanted to go about things. Josh knew his time would come when it came, if it ever came at all.</p><p> </p><p>

He worked at the school in the day, hit the gym in the evening and argued with his housemate, Chuck, about whether MAW would be doing better had Rip Chord not retired. Josh says no, Chuck says yes, they both agree that things could have been much worse if Rip had sold up to the Eisens like the rumours said at the time. It was a quiet life, was the life of Josh Jones. A life he enjoyed. A life he didn’t want to give up because he didn’t have lofty goals or high aspirations. But increasingly was becoming a life he thought about in hindsight. Could he have been more? At thirty-two years of age, only six younger than James “Cheetah Boy” Neil, Josh had never made it to the big leagues. Six months curtain jerking in CGC and then the move to Baltimore. And Josh could see the wear and tear on James’ body. Granted his career spanned two decades to Josh’s one. But Josh knew he was no spring chicken. He was nearing his peak and had little to show for it. But without that “it” factor, he thought maybe, just maybe he had all he deserved.</p>

  8. Great testing! I haven't gone that far yet but I've definitely noticed that attributes like that are few and far between; I'd love to see the number of them dialled up.

I wasnt even really testing, just casually decides to do a search by attribute and noticed how barren things are. Those 5 are just the ones I searched for cos they seemed very distinct and the kind of thing that couldn't be hidden, I'm sure there are others that haven't popped up at all

  9. The Product

    CkRqHlE.jpg

“Don’t work hard kid, work smart.” Those were the last words Sam Keith spoke to Trevor Riggs before he graduated from the Mid Atlantic Bootcamp. The man who would become The Architect lived by that advice. It became his mantra. His code of ethics. If something was worth doing, it was worth doing with peak efficiency. This meant Trevor wasn’t the most exciting wrestler, but he protected his body and his opponents’ and he was rewarded with a strong push for his work ethic.

In January of 2020, Trevor Riggs, aka The Architect won the Rip Chord Invitational. He joined an illustrious list. A who’s who of professional wrestling and it made him proud. But there was something empty in Trevor. A vacuum right in the pit of his stomach that he couldn’t fill with just a tournament trophy. Accolades were all well and good, but the lust for championship gold was what drew a man to professional wrestling in the first place. Trevor didn’t get into wrestling to be a sometimes tag team champion. He wanted to be The Guy. So he took his concern to Sam Keith.

The office of Sam Keith, real name Samuel Gauge, was exactly what one would expect from the office of a former wrestler. It was not neat or tidy but Sam always seemed to know where everything was. It had gotten somewhat cleaner since Tamara McFly had started working full-time for the company. Trevor knocked on the door and was beckoned from within. He went in and sat on the chair across the desk from his boss. Sam gave him a wry smile and asked him what the matter was.

“Well Sam, I want to know what the plans are for me going forward. One minute I’m winning the Invitational, the next minute my title match is getting ended with a DQ to further somebody else’s story. Am I getting near the belt this year?”

Sam went back to typing on his old computer and said “That’s a question for Jay, isn’t it?”

“Well that’s the thing Sam,” Trevor said, a hint of annoyance in his voice, “You’re the boss, you know what’s going on and I know you can tell Jay no.”

    “So?”

Trevor sat wide-eyed and unable to form words. What had Sam just said to him? He couldn’t understand what was going on, why was the man he idolised so nonchalant in dealing with his concerns?

“So!?” Trevor exclaimed. “So, I’ve been busting my ass here for nearly a decade! I’ve taken every piece of advice you’ve ever given me on board! I read your notes like it’s the damn Bible! And all you have for me is a ‘So’?” Trevor was seething. His red face and half-raised voice betrayed the shock he tried so desperately to hide.

“Then leave.” Sam said, without looking up from his computer.

“Why the hell would I do that Sam!? What is going on here!” Trevor demanded.

Sam finally looked up from his computer and met Trevor’s eyes before continuing. “Trevor, you’ve been here long enough to know that guys move on when they’re done. If you feel like you’re done here, then leave. Believe me, I want you to stay Trev, you’re a great talent and a great man. But if you feel like you’re stagnating you don’t have to stay.”

“And where would I go Sam?”

“You’re choice Trevor, I can’t make that choice for you.” Sam shrugged.

Trevor looked down, dejected. He muttered a low thanks under his breath and got up to leave the office.

“Oh and Trevor?” Sam called out before Trevor left. “I’ve only ever told Jay no once, when he said he didn’t want to book.”

  10. I've run a save in Effganic's organic mod for 18 in-game years now and I'm noticing that the game just isn't generating workers with certain attributes. This probably isn't a bug but I feel like the attribute system should be a bit more dynamic than this.

After 18 years there are no workers with the attributes: Tag Team Specialist, Explosive Ring Style, Slow and Steady, Easily Marketable OR Unmarketable.

While I understand these things would be rare, the fact that none of the over 1200 generated workers currently in the save have any of these attributes seem really far off reality.

  13. TopRopeElbow.com report: Sam Keith Classic Bracket and Event Card

The bracket for the tenth Sam Keith Classic tournament has been released on the Mid Atlantic Wrestling twitter and the company website, along with the order of the match card, much like the RCI back in January, the tournament final does not appear to be the main event of the show, possibly a good idea so as to avoid unnecessary pressure on people who have worked two other matches throughout the night.

This will also be interesting to see how many fans MAW can attract to WrestleWorld as this will be the first show aired on the streaming service since the deal was announced earlier in the year.
