Nate DeMarcus adds some much needed power to the babyface team and starts the match off against George Wolfe, with frequent tags from both teams allowing everyone to get a piece of the action. El Sultán is the new face here and despite wearing a lucha libre mask, his style features little high flying; instead, he mixes brawling and technical skills to form a hard hitting package, yet he ends up falling victim to the well-oiled machine that is the Hearbreak Express.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: Nate DeMarcus & The Heartbreak Express, by pinfall</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="M4SOg7D.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/M4SOg7D.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="ANKj0Ct.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ANKj0Ct.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8sEkkAa.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8sEkkAa.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="n1i1cZU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/n1i1cZU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="rFgGBti.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rFgGBti.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="aMXABmX.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/aMXABmX.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Current and former top contenders for the Piledriver Women's title make their (separate) entrances and Tracy Brendon gets on the mic to cut a promo on the champion, followed by some unintelligible stuff in Japanese from Sato that the crowd tries really hard to overlook until it's over. 2. Dropped a bunch of stuff all at once and all of it quality stuff too! Last Hard Men was an entertaining show and so were the subsequent narratives, keeping everything moving and interesting in a Cult or larger promotion isn't easy so kudos to you for pulling it off. What was your favorite match/moment from The Last Hard Men? The Stone-Vessey draw. Hitting the time limit just before the third slap of the mat is usually reserved for Ironman matches so it was a pleasant surprise in a booking that made sense. What was your favorite of the three narratives? Big Cat/Money Brandon James. We've had plenty of McManus narratives already and that includes the "finally I made it" one, making Diaz's feel somewhat repetitive. The only retirement narrative I can recall is that of Joel Bryant and still, due to his relationship with Robert Oxford and running CWT, it felt different than Brandon's. Is there anyone who hasn't gotten a narrative or been explored that you'd like to see explored? I could only think of the Fallen, but Father Grim's recent promo/narrative really hit the spot when he mentioned how they were 'wronged' by the bigger promotions. I think my vote goes to Gangsta Nation, shine some light on how those hardcore brawlers have evolved, especially after the collapse of GSW. With their formation and the six man titles, I think you do need to give them some more time in the sun. Is there a character/worker/story direction that really isn't working for you/or interesting you as a reader? The only one who comes to mind is "The Tiger" Alexander Vasquez. Some have been indifferent, but they never stuck around for long or got enough of a push/titles to worth mentioning. Vasquez has been around, has won gold and still feels out of touch. Can't say if my perception of him is "bland babyface" or "mysterious" but he hasn't got a standout gimmick and hasn't gotten time on the mic or a narrative to really show some character.
  3. Some great stuff dropping here lately. Judging from Adam's earlier query about jtlant's imags and how with each version the community created stuff has been incorporated, I'm pretty hyped for what TEW2020 has in store for us.

  6. Where It All Begins Again Piledriver Wrestling Presents Where It All Begins Again Friday, Week 4 October, 2018 Live from the Delaware Auditorium, DE Piledriver Wrestling's executive triplet kicks off the show as they come out to welcome fans and hype up the show before shaking hands. Peter Michaels takes a seat on the announcers' table, while Sam Keith and Lee Wright return backstage. Opening Three Deal Tag Elimination match w The Death Squad (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar) The Frat Pack w The Heartbreak Express Three briefcases are hung up on poles on three corners of the ring and the match is underway. Though usually dominating matches with their size and power, the Death Squad find themselves in a tough spot here. For one, they could lose their tag titles without even getting pinned and more importantly, grabbing one of the briefacases requires speed and agility they lack, especially in comparison to both their opponents. The Frat Pack come into this match with a defensive tactic of letting their opponents duke it out and pick their spots or go for a briefcase while everyone's busy, leaving the Heartbreak Express to actively chase a case while also trying to fend off the Death Squad. Jumpin' Johnny Needham's vertical leap earns his team the first briefcase when he dropkicks Wolfe into Annihilus and then hops to the second rope to retrieve a briefcase. The match is paused and the contents are revealed as... a title shot for gold at Night of the Champions! It's not the titles themselves, but it's not the worst case scenario either and the Express are taken out of the match, leaving the Frat Pack with no place to run anymore. Lucky for Harvard and Pilgrim, they are much fresher than their tired and (lightly) beaten opponents so they do get a fighting chance. Even when Annihilus lifts up Harvard for a powerbomb, the Fratmeister is smart enough to use the elevation and grab a briefcase before impact. It doesn't spare him the hard landing, but it does stop the match to reveal the case contents... a mandatory dismantling of the Frat Pack! Harvard's inspiration backfires as both he and Pilgrim lose their minds at the exact same time the Sheik madly celebrates his team retaining the titles. Winners: The Death Squad The Frat Pack will no longer wrestle matches as a team The Heartbreak Express will face the Death Squad for the Piledriver Tag Team titles at Night of the Champions in December Submission match Riley McManus vs The Architect This match wouldn't be out of place in Europe's Ultimate European Wrestling or, back in a day, Brighton's Ring of Fire: a slow, methodical chess game of a match between two true masters of the grappling arts who go hold for hold in a masterclass of what wrestling can be. The sudden drop in pace and cerebral nature of the match doesn't seem to please most of the fans though, especially after a hot opening and match so it seems the wrestlers somewhat rush the finish of the match, wrapping things up a bit sloppily as McManus beats The Architect with his own finisher, the Blueprint. Winner: Riley McManus, by submission w Piledriver Women's title match Eri Sato vs "Ice Cold" Claire Winters (with "Playboy" Jake Sawyer) The first "proper" title match of the night, this one is the exact opposite of the one preceding it: fast paced, all out and full of sharp strikes. Taking several pages of an MMA match playbook, even the submission holds are quick and deadly, playing to the styles and gimmicks of both competitors. Sato shows she deserves every bit of the chance she was given by pushing Winters to her limits, so much that Sawyer senses defeat and has to get on the apron to distract Sato just so that his client can set up a Heel Kick for the pin. Winner: "Ice Cold" Claire Winters, by pinfall after Playboy Jake Sawyer interfered Claire Winters makes defence number 1 of her Piledriver Womens title A screaming guitar riff interrupts the champions' celebration and AAA veteran Tracy Brendon steps out of the entrance to a thunderous reaction from the crowd. Brendon cuts a promo saying she's here to be champion and will be gunning for that title. Still huffing and riding a wave of adrenaline, Winters responds by indicating she's ready for her anytime as the announcers hype up their apparent upcoming title clash. Loser Leaves Town match Bradley Blaze vs Buck Winchester The cowboy clash fans have been waiting to see, Blaze and Winchester go one on one and fists start flying as soon as the opening bell rings. Simple, yet exciting, the match is wild enough to draw fans in and even spills outside the ring for a good chunk since there are no countouts. For all their aggression, the two men end up getting winded really fast so the pace takes a sharp drop past the ten minute mark that slightly kills off the excitement until the finish of Winchester driving his opponent through the announcers' table with the Dallas Drop to add the exclamation point to his victory. Winner: Buck Winchester I Quit match Jebediah vs Reaper Of all the matches on the card, this one is the quintessential big man clash with a total of over 700lbs between the ropes. The two competitors lash out against each other with strikes that quickly turn into stiff-looking headbutts and corner avalanches that showcase their deceptive agility for men that size. Perhaps the most cartoonish and gimmicky match so far, this one is heavy on the religious undertones and character clash, including the finish of Reaper performing some kind of black magic ritual that causes the lights to flicker and Jebediah to shiver up to the point where he calls it quits. Winner: Reaper Before the next match, a back-to-back promo video package rolls, with Logan Diaz and Xavi Ferrera talking about their time with the title, their latest match that ended with a roll up and how they intend to win this one in decisive fashion. Piledriver United States title match "Glorious" Logan Diaz © vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera As the announcers remind everyone, Ferrera beat Diaz at the start of the year in Anything Goes, before Diaz returned the favor at the Sam Keith Classic VIII to win the gold by roll up. It's always been a show-stealer when these two clashed and this time it's no different as they pull out all the stops to deliver a spectacle of a wrestling match, dramatic and fluid before Diaz seals the deal with a Belly to Belly Suplex for the pinfall to finally defeat Ferrera while keeping the title. Winner: "Glorious" Logan Diaz, by pinfall "Glorious" Logan Diaz makes defence number 5 of his Piledriver United States title Steel Cage grudge match Cameron "J-Man" Jones vs "Class Act" Syd Collier The storied rivalry of the Dynamite Express' collapse and rivalry has transcended MAW and carried on into Piledriver Wrestling, with Jones costing Collier some big matches but unable to win their one on one matches themselves. Thanks to the cage preventing outside interference, Jones and Collier are free to focus on fighting each other without having to keep eyes in the back of their head. Jones of course is the big winner of this scenario, not only because he's mostly been the one to find the Architect in his way so far but also because his brawl-heavy style is a great fit for a cage match as opposed to Collier's mat based approach. What works against him is emotion, making him careless enough for Collier to slap on the Texas Cloverleaf out of nowhere to steal another big win over his former tag team partner. Winner: "Class Act" Syd Collier, by submission Piledriver Championship title match Masked Patriot © vs Scythe According to Peter Michaels on commentary, COTT rules prevent champions defending their title against challengers working for the same promotion, which is why only Patriot's title is on the line tonight. With the bar set pretty high after the previous title match, Patriot and Scythe take the time to lay the foundation for an epic bout between them; the start feels a little slow, but things soon pick up as Scythe administers a series of chokeslams Patriot kicks out of. Every time the champion manages to get some offense going for him, he hits a brick wall when it's time to lift up the massive Scythe and deliver the Patriot Slam. This quickly becomes the theme of the match, whether Patriot can hit his finisher or how many times Scythe has to execute a choke slam to keep the champ down. Seeing how things aren't working for him, Scythe gradually begins signalling he's looking for the Underworld Spike but before he can get to that point, Patriot finally musters enough strength (and a bit of momentum) to bring him crashing to the mat with a Patriot Slam, piling the weight of his body and the entire nation on top to secure the pin. Winner: Masked Patriot, by pinfall Masked Patriot makes defence number 4 of his Piledriver Championship title Show Rating:

  10. War for Territory #10 Piledriver Wrestling Presents War for Territory #10 Saturday, Week 2 September, 2018 Live from the Delaware Auditorium, DE w Scythe, Reaper & The Death Squad (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar) w Masked Patriot, Jebediah & The Heartbreak Express (with Lisa Bowen) Things are pretty crowded in and around the ring for the opening match as the monster heel quartet takes on the babyface team. The focus of course is on Masked Patriot's ongoing rivalry with Scythe and Reaper, but Jebediah also gets a chance to shine being the only big man in his side of the fence while the Heartbreak Express also work together to raise their own stock in this high-profile match and hopefully even get a shot at the tag titles. With so many moving parts to this match, referee Alvin Lavin has a hard time maintaining control and understandably so but he refuses to give up and call for a no-contest. However, when Scythe & Reaper hit an assisted powerbomb on Jebediah just as the Death Squad deliver a double chokeslam on the Heartbreak Express, the ring collapses under the combined weight and force, leading to a mandatory no-contest as technicians rush down for repairs while the wrestlers crawl out of the ruins. Winners: No contest As both teams regroup, Masked Patriot grabs a mic to issue a challenge for "Where it all begins again". Offering to break tonight's matchup into three different matches, Patriot suggests a tag title match (Death Squad versus Heartbreak Express), a big man clash (Jebediah vs Reaper) and himself against Scythe. The COTT World Heavyweight champion responds to accept, whether his title, the Piledriver Championship, both or none are on the line. w Piledriver United States title match "Glorious" Logan Diaz © vs "Killer" Carl Bernard (with Sheik Ali Al-Avatar) After ushering his team backstage, Sheik Ali Al-Avatar returns with "Killer" Carl Bernard who is scheduled to face Diaz for the US title tonight. The two heavyweights lock up in the middle of the ring, with Bernard bringing the wild brawling against the much slicker style of Diaz that keeps this match from turning into a simplistic hoss fight. From the opening exchange it's pretty obvious Diaz is by far the better in-ring worker and this only serves to further anger Bernard. Torn between his excitement and common sense, the Sheik isn't doing a great job of keeping his man in check so after several warnings from the ref about dangerous strikes and choke holds, Bernard is disqualified, wrapping the match up at just over eleven minutes. Winner: "Glorious" Logan Diaz, by disqualification Logan Diaz makes defence number 4 of his Piledriver United States title Walking around a bar in Waco, Texas, Buck Winchester cuts a promo on Bradley Blaze and their upcoming clash at "Where it all begins again". Winchester points out he's no stranger to barroom brawls and he has a history when it comes to Loser leaves town matches. Come that night, Blaze will be sent back to Dallas. "Class Act" Syd Collier & The Architect vs Riley McManus & Cameron "J-Man" Jones After rushing to the rescue of Cip Conduit and being left as the only "defender" of Piledriver Wrestling, it's no surprise Riley McManus finds himself up against the duo of MAW loyalists in Collier and the Architect. His teammate is Collier's former partner turned rival, Cameron Jones and the four men proceed to tell the tale of their rivalry between the ropes. Jones especially seems to be a bit out of synch, being a brawler in the ring with three technically-minded workers, but he does his best to not bring the match quality down because of that, instead adding some excitement and variety when things seem to slow down too much. This even plays into the finish of the match, a time limit draw after fifteen minutes of back and forth grappling that signals "slow and methodical" might not be the best way to go about business in these cases. Winners: Time limit draw Xavi Ferrera hits the ring next to deliver yet another cocky promo about how he's going to prove he's the only real athlete in Piledriver Wrestling by beating Nate DeMarcus, before moving on to defeat Logan Diaz in two weeks. Nate "The Great" DeMarcus vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera Returning from injury, Nate DeMarcus seems to have zero ring rust about him. What he does however have is a big target for his opponent to focus on as Ferrera delivers stiff kicks to his lower back, gradually turning those into backbreakers or submissions aimed at DeMarcus' injured spot. After taking a beating for most of the match, DeMarcus makes his comeback and even hits a few impressive moves, but the damage comes back to haunt him once the pace picks up and his athleticism can't be put to full use. Ferrera slingshots off the ropes to catch DeMarcus with a devastating Backstabber that drives both knees in with high impact, in turn keeping DeMarcus down long enough for Ferrera to deliver the High Impact Frog Splash for the pin. Winner: "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera, by pinfall COTT Women's title match Foxxy LaRue © vs Nicole Pyle Though not the most promising matchup on paper, the main event is true to the show's theme of "local vs imported" matches as it features the self-proclaimed "baddest chick in pro wrestling" and COTT Women's champion Foxxy LaRue taking on the first ever female graduate of the Piledriver Wrestling School in Nicole Pyle. The local favorite may be off to a big start with her flashy high flying offense, but it quickly becomes painfully apparent she lacks the stamina to back it up as she's gasping for breath after the five minute mark. LaRue offers no quarter and takes her opportunity to deliver a beatdown on her challenger for a couple of minutes before laying her out on her back with a Flash Head Kick for the pin, an easy title defense in under ten minutes. Winner: Foxxy LaRue, by pinfall Foxxy LaRue makes defence number 4 of her COTT Womens title Show Rating:

The drawback to that is the toll it takes on his stamina, leaving Delirium winded as Valiente tries for the equalizer. Yet again though, he falls victim to the madness of Delirium and the raving lunatic picks up the win despite feeling like he didn't deserve it based on his actual fighting performance.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Delirium</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="cJx6orc.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cJx6orc.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9ral5QN.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9ral5QN.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> Death's Head (2-0) vs Cyclops (0-1)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> No longer accompanied by Delirante after last month's fiasco, Cyclops puts up a valiant fight but just can't wrap it up with a victory as a brutal comeback from his opponent and a series of big power moves are good enough to decide round one. Backed against the wall, Cyclops looks super focused during round two, so much that Death's Head seems sloppy in comparison. Once again though, the big man's power just won't be denied and a big powerbomb later it's game set and match for him.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Death's Head</strong></p><p> <img alt="ozLd3Bm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ozLd3Bm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="V3KisHB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/V3KisHB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> El Mítico Jr has a few words to say regarding his match tonight, what he considers a big challenge as he's set to face the former Campeón de Mexico EMLL. Obviously this is a "match" made for comedic purposes but just in case this wasn't apparent enough, Scorpion shoots his signature rope and spear at the dummies while Payaso Jr opts for custard pies instead. Scorpion's accuracy is much better thanks to his projectiles being a tad more aerodynamic in comparison, which has a jealous Payaso Jr hit him instead of a dummy with a custard pie. Furious, Scorpion proceeds to deliver a beatdown and leave the clown on the ground, coverd in custard as he walks away.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Scorpion</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="7nXiDsK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7nXiDsK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="XDInPIM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XDInPIM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> Title match for the Campeónato de Histórico EMLL</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="V3KisHB.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/V3KisHB.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="XJ4Zi5z.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/XJ4Zi5z.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> El Mítico Jr © (2-0) vs Trickster (1-1)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Trickster tries to keep the fight on the ground but Mítico soon escapes to take flight and hit his opponent with a beautiful sequence of aerial moves that earn him the first fall. Before his health bar can run out of green though, the champion makes his comeback and punishes Guerrero Muerto, winning the second round to retain the title.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Ángel De México</strong></p><p><strong> Ángel De México makes defence number 3 of his Campeónato del Mundo EMLL title. </strong></p><p> <img alt="pyf9Pt4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pyf9Pt4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="8cri1JW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8cri1JW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> Once the match is over, Ángel De México grabs his title and shows it to the camera, delivering a short speech on how he's not afraid of Snake King's veiled threats.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p></p><img alt="pyf9Pt4.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pyf9Pt4.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Show Rating:</span></strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="mwL0z0W.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/mwL0z0W.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p></div><p></p><p></p>

He's been a nationally decorated hurdler in college, he got his start in Pittsburgh and in the last couple of years he's really been tearing it up with Piledriver Wrestling. I'm talking of course about "the athlete" Xavi Ferrera, welcome to the studio.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="uN4bdE9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/uN4bdE9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Thank you, it's a real honor to be here today.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> So Xavi, we're no strangers to each other but please introduce yourself to our fans who may not know you.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Right, so, my name is Xavi Ferrera and that's my actual name, not an alias. I'm 24 years old and I was born in Puerto Rico, but my family actually hails from Portugal. I've always been good at sports so I tried my hand at a few things before ultimately sticking with track and field.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> Pro wrestling wasn't an option back then?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Well, not really. I was a fan since I was a kid, but there were no shows held in Puerto Rico unless you count the occasional "Puerto Rican Power beats X foreigner" special events every now and then. FREEDOM Carribean Wrestling opened its doors in 2007 and even when Shawn Gonzalez set up their dojo in 2010 he did it in Pittsburgh so I had to wait until college before I had access to a training facility.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> In Pittsburgh?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Yeah, Gonzalez was already known as one of the best trainers around so I wanted to learn from him. Just getting accepted was a challenge for me and the classes were brutal too, but he taught us well, may he rest in peace. Everything he told us about he would then go on and do at the next show with DAVE. He would lead by example.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> He was a great man and a great wrestler, God rest his soul. So the DAVE shows were where you also met with Guide?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> No, that was back at the Lair. Shawn would bring in DAVE talent to help him with his classes. I still remember (Chris) Caulfield and (Freddie) Datsun talking to us about selling and how to make the audience sympathize with us. The New Wave and the Peak Brothers had come to teach us about tag team wrestling. That's where I got to meet Guide and I guess he saw a little bit of himself in my style at the time, you know? Long story short, DAVE went out of business in 2007, Puerto Rican Power and some others set up FCW in Puerto Rico while Mitch (Naess) and the rest put up some shows to give us trainees some exposure in hopes of having us signed by some other promotion. IPW wouldn't be around for a few more years, so there was no one looking to sign hardcore style workers, which is how those shows slowly led to the dojo's transformation into PSW. Kinda like how Piledriver Wrestling was born out of its own wrestling school.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> Before Piledriver though, you had a brief run with PSW, right?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Yeah, but it never really came to be. With no one to run the Wolf's Lair, it closed before I could graduate. Guide offered to complete the rest of my training, but once he signed with TCW and moved to California, it was practically impossible. I know he made an attempt to have me accepted by TCW's school, but PSW put me front and center before that so I had to learn the rest on the job. That was in 2014.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> So what happened?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Mitch (Naess) was running out of money, so he had to cut expenses. He made the call to keep the DAVE veterans and let the young folks like Logan (Diaz) and myself go. Which I'm not bitter about, by the way. Fans were still high on the whole DAVE nostalgia, they were willing to pay to see those folks, not greenhorns like me.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> But that doesn't get you very far, if you can't produce some home-grown young stars on the way. Which is probably why the Eisens bought out PSW last summer but hey, how can you make long-term plans about young home-grown talent if you're not turning enough of a profit to still be around by the time they hit their prime, right?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Yes, I guess the powers that be had to make sure they'd survive short-term before making any bigger plans. Which is why I understood their decision.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> So how did you end up with Piledriver Wrestling after that?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> See, Piledriver Wrestling were in deep debt too, more than once, but they were lucky enough to get out of it with some outside help. PSW just wasn't. It's not just business and numbers, sometimes it takes a bit of luck too.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> We'll get to Piledriver's money issues in a while, for now I'm curious about how the contact to join them was made. You and Logan (Diaz) were both on the starting roster, did you plan for this or was it a coincidence?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> We hadn't talked about it with Logan, if that's what you mean. Neither did they get us as a package deal. I guess though I wasn't too surprised to see him there. Lee Wright runs the wrestling school and he's been a long time friend and teammate of Logan's uncle in Japan.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> They seemed to place a lot of trust in you though, you won the top title in like what, two months in?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Yeah I was given a title run to test the waters and establish me as a legit competitor. Part of the gimmick too, you see. Then they brought in a bunch of veterans to help us rookies out and I lost the title to Rockin' Ryan Turner until he went out on tour with his band. Then people kept coming in and I was kinda lost in the shuffle as I fell down the card.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> So they turned you heel.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> I discussed it with the folks in charge there. They were the ones to approach me with the idea in fact, probably because they didn't want to let all the earlier build up go to waste. I mean, if your top champion is a curtain-jerking jobber within a couple of years, there's no coming back from that. Not just for me as a wrestler, they too are losing out on a potential future star and the title loses a bit of prestige. The timing was right too, because my results were perfect to justify a heel turn and I was lucky enough to do it just before the company bought out MAW and brought in a bunch of fresh faces to its roster.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> That was fortunate indeed, plus you had a midcard title now to go with.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> That's right, I was already on the rise when the merger took place so I immediately beat (Hal) Harvard for the Mid Atlantic American title. It made sense and it got me heat after I broke the long streak of a beloved babyface.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> But then you ran wild with it, beat the entire midcard in a series of excellent matches.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Again, that was done to establish me as a legitimate competitor after my heel turn.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> Until Logan Diaz rolled you up for the pin at the Sam Keith Classic VIII to set up your rematch at the upcoming "Where it all begins again" show. What's the plan after that?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Well, clearly I can't disclose the booking of that match... <em>*laughter*</em> Thing is, I don't really know what's next for me either. I think I've more or less made it back to the main event scene, but (Masked) Patriot's in a feud with Scythe and Reaper, then there's Syd (Collier), George (Wolfe), Buck (Winchester)... Plenty of bad guys at the top and not that many heroes to keep them all busy <em>*laughter*</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> Does that mean we can expect you to turn face again?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> No no, we're trying to be somewhat consistent with that stuff. I just don't know what the landscape will look like after October's show. Peter Michaels opened our latest show saying it'll be the last show for a lot of people on the roster.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> They've been quietly releasing or writing out folks since the merger with MAW, this one sounds drastic though. Is Piledriver in debt again or is it a convenient way to do a massive roster clean up?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ferrera:</strong> Only thing I know is there's still enough money in the bank, so no debt. If I had to guess, it's either because with the wage bill is too big compared to the profits or because there's not enough time to showcase everyone. I mean, War for Territory recently got an extra 30 minutes and it's still not enough.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Vibert:</strong> Speaking of which, would you like to read the upcoming War for Territory match card out for our audience? You heard it first on Vibert's Voice, folks!</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46150" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Piledriver Wrestling Presents</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">War for Territory #10</span></strong></p><p><strong> Saturday, Week 2 September, 2018</strong></p><p><strong> Live from the Delaware Auditorium, DE</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> Main Event</strong></p><p> COTT Women's title match</p><p> Foxxy LaRue © vs Nicole Pyle</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Co-Main Event</strong></p><p> Nate "The Great" DeMarcus vs "The Athlete" Xavi Ferrera</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Tag Team grudge match</strong></p><p> "Class Act" Syd Collier & The Architect vs Riley McManus & Cameron "J-Man" Jones</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Piledriver United States title match</strong></p><p> "Glorious" Logan Diaz © vs "Killer" Carl Bernard</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Opening Four Man Tornado Tag match</strong></p><p> Scythe, Reaper & The Death Squad vs Masked Patriot, Jebediah & The Heartbreak Express</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>

Given their rivalry, Patriot didn't need to put his title on the line to get his opponent to accept this match, but being the fighting champion he is, Patriot just couldn't walk into this match and live with being champion after a potential defeat at the hands of Reaper. The match itself played out as one would expect, with Reaper dominating and Patriot trying to withstand the onslaught; only after the ten minute mark when the big man slowed down and began to look like he was trying to get some wind back into his lungs did Patriot's plan become apparent: he was exhausting Reaper in order to take him down. Smartly avoiding further damage to himself by attempting to hit the Patriot Slam or any other slam on a 360+ pound man, Patriot opted for submission holds instead, focusing his offense on Reaper's neck with a wide array of choke-style moves.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="pmHS2Ce.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/pmHS2Ce.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> Just when it looked like Reaper was about to give up, the lights flickered and Scythe showed up to get his hands on Masked Patriot. 18. Deadly Game 2018 card *slap!* "FEEL THAT?" *slap!* "ANSWER ME, INFIDEL! DO YOU FEEL IT?" *slap!* He just stood there, looking at me all glassy-eyed Was he patiently waiting for this all to end? Was he holding his head up high through the ridicule? Did he accept this as punishment? Or was he so spaced out of his mind on painkillers he barely registered the slaps, let alone my words? "Sheik... let the man go" I head Lee's voice behind me, but just to be sure he got across, he laid a hand on my shoulder as well. In hindsight, he couldn't be sure whether I was truly out of control or living out the gimmick. Even after almost two years running the company together, he had his doubt sometimes. Oh hell, maybe he was playing me this time, acting as good cop to my bad cop routine. I was so upset I couldn't think straight at the time. It was the first time anyone had shown up under the influence and somehow "double dubbyah" had slipped below the radar upon arrival until he was already in the ring with Logan. He messed up a title match, he could have injured one of our brightest prospect and he acted irresponsibly. I had to make an example out of him. "GO SWALLOW PILLS IN GRIMM'S WAREHOUSE!" Waylon walked away and I turned around, still fuming in rage. Lee smiled, almost joking about my antics now that the incident had been dealt with. Ever since the MAW merger took place and we found our stride, his mood had picked up. Why wouldn't it, we had gotten out of debt and grown our fanbase, at least for the time being. "Listen, Sheik... Jiminez called. He wants to bring Cip to Puerto Rico." It took me a moment to understand the importance of Lee's words. AAA had snached up three of our female workers, but at best Flame was an original roster member. Cip Conduit was the first ever Piledriver Wrestling School graduate to be offered a deal by a major promotion since I talked Lee into setting up our own promotion to provide a stage for dojo graduates. I'd almost given up on Cip as far as our own company went, let alone another wanting to sign him, but at long last, it was happening. "That is... good" I whispered to Lee, carefully so that no one would notice the gimmick inconsistency moment. "Call Pete and Sam, it's time we cleaned up the roster for good."

The bout was as hard hitting as one would expect given the participants, with Harker's aggression leading to a quick elimination of the aging veteran in Toshinobu Taku. The real shocker though came much later, after a stellar back and forth between the two remaining competitors: Miyake hit Harker square in the head with a Knock Out Kick and covered him for the pin to win both the match and title, a bold announcement of his evolution past being another one in the young lion pack.</p><p> <strong>In a decent match, Motoyuki Miyake defeated Animal Harker and Toshinobu Taku in an Elimination match in 13:49; the order of elimination was Toshinobu Taku first, and then Animal Harker. This helped get past the audience's perception of where each wrestler is at, making the match even more dramatic as it felt like it could go to either man. Vanzycha's well documented resilience was a real test for Torii and his flurry of chops, forearms and strikes, pushing the match past the twenty minute mark before Torii hit Vanzycha with the third Spinning Forearm Smash of the match to finally keep him down long enough for the count.</p><p> <strong>In a bout that had great wrestling and good heat, Bunrakuken Torii defeated Pavel Vanzycha in 21:15 by pinfall with a Spinning Forearm Smash.</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Rating:</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="sma3Die.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sma3Die.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="rYebwAf.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rYebwAf.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="cee44M9.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/cee44M9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="5bss42b.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/5bss42b.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="25UZG0h.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/25UZG0h.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="POBEZKK.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/POBEZKK.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p><strong> BCG National title match</strong></p><p><strong> Yoshinaka Taku © vs Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> The BCG National title was up for grabs in the co-main event, with Bulldozer Brandon Smith wrestling in what many fans and critics had described as a "life and death" situation. Things weren't easy for the big gaijin brawler as his opponent was none other than standout prospect Yoshinaka Taku, a man who won his first title at age 24 with just 5 years in the business only to stand two years after that with a total of four title wins and one tournament victory under his belt. Taku went toe to toe with the big man, trading blows and holds for nearly half an hour and even kicking out of Smith's Backdrop Driver before succumbing to a Tombstone Piledriver.</p><p> <strong>In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Bulldozer Brandon Smith defeated Yoshinaka Taku in 25:35 by pinfall with a Tombstone Piledriver. After all, he was still a young lion not more than a year ago. As the announcing team made sure to point out though, Kiyotaka wasn't pushed out of the blue to this main event; he had put up some exceptional performances alongside Gidayou Katou as Double K and earned his chance after winning and defending the Challengers Series title. As for Kiyotaka himself, he made sure to prove all the naysayers wrong inside the ring, wrestling a spectacular match against one of the all time greats of Black Canvas Grappling in Funakoshi. Both men well known for their ultra serious approach to their craft, they fought each other in a breathtaking main event where the challenger sought a chance to lock in his Kimura while Funakoshi tried to fully execute his Butterfly Backbreaker finisher, with the champion finally managing to pull it off and retain in just over twenty minutes.</p><p> <strong>In a bout that had superb wrestling and good heat, Funakoshi defeated Kiyotaka in 20:44 by pinfall with a Butterfly Backbreaker.
