I would start with mexico & japan the usa & canada wrestlers will always have a chance to get in somewhere, with lack of promotions going anywhere I would open them 1st, then open canada when u rise 2 internation, then usa when u hit global. of corse just start with middle aged workers 1st because of the risk (with the mexicans)
Well, I don't think you should use the editor. I think you should rely on talent trades to bring in some other workers. Or you should get a verdict from Ryland himself.
It's good to get someone giving a different opinion. Even if I don't like it! :D I have to say though in defence of the idea that I'm not really looking at opening up lots and lots of amazing workers to bring in. Talent trades is something that I'm considering using shortly to vary up the current match-ups for a bit of a change. But you can only do so much with talent trades, especially when the workers have nothing like the overness of your own guys and therefore the result is often a foregone conclusion. In some ways I think you're right - I don't like using the editor for any reason normally. At the very start of the game, I kept worker restrictions on because I thought that was more realistic. But if I open up a Japanese brand, with all the matches happening in Japan, and I'm restricted to using UK workers on it, it just seems a little unrealistic. And I really want the game to run realistically. Anyway, it's been good getting various people's thoughts on the matter. Onwards with the game.
At this point you're the fourth most important promotion in the world. I say open things up. Side note, though; if they're not that popular in the UK compared to elsewhere, they may not be happy to sign for you anyway. This could make shunting them into Japan tricky.
Actually, I managed to snag Burning EXILE at a point when he'd actually consider signing for me - sometimes he doesn't want to. And Koshiro Ino just won't sign a short-term for me at all as he's not over enough in the UK towards Japan. That's the thing - I wouldn't be able to sign top workers even if I wanted to because they just won't come when their UK overness is so far below their home nation overness. That's fine by me. It's the guys who aren't working anywhere and would be work-in-progress I'm more interested in.
That's why you do talent trades. Trade for Koshiro Ino and get him over in the UK. If none of your workers are over enough in Japan get them over in Japan!
Yeah, but you need someone on your staff with that much overness in Japan to do a trade. UK Dragon would be that man - but usually when I offer him for trades to Japanese companies, they don't want to use him. Plus someone like Ino is on short-terms, who I don't think get traded, do they?
oh god why japan I hate Japan
Well...I need somewhere where my popularity is low so that the probable poorer match quality of what is basically a development brand won't drop me in popularity - so that takes out the UK and Europe. I run what is basically a pure, technical wrestling product, and I just thought that a) Japan was better suited given that their audience likes that kind of product, and b) I have a few wrestlers already working there, so in terms of making sense with travel etc, it was the best choice. Yes I could have run it in the US with JD Morgan heading it up or Canada with Shane Nelson heading it up, but Japan just seemed more logical for the type of company I run and the workers I currently have. I shouldn't worry...the fact it's Japan won't really affect things much anyway. As I said, it's a development brand and I'll just be posting the results as they come along - there's an extra newsletter page coming in a couple of months time which will include Japan brand results.

Singles Debut Kevin Jones vs Sergei Kalashnov I'm with the you don't get hyped then lose consensus with this match, so the Prince of Belarus wins against likeable loser Kevin Jones. ROF Talisman Title Petey Barnes © vs Stevie Stoat In the back of his mind Stoat will feel that he is too good for this title and wont be fully focused, Barnes in turn gets another good rub by defeating a veteran performer with main event level experience. Billy Robinson vs Don Henderson This is real coin toss, as Henderson has already established himself in the main event (even if has not won the big one) and Robinson is striving to get there, but is just coming up short. There's something a little TOO obvious about Robinson getting the rub from his old rival, so I think Henderson gets the win here. ROF Tag Team Titles Warriors of Honour © vs Red Mafia I just have this feeling that Red Mafia will win the belts back and make the Tag Titles a real focus of the Japan brand, the teams on the regular ROF brand meanwhile will be desperate to get themselves into position to challenge for the belts on the Pay Per Views. Louis Figo Manico vs Rolling Johnny Stones It's true what D-Mack said that you know what you are getting with Stones and that he can deliver in the title matches, but LFM has looked pretty impressive so far and I can see him stepping it up another level should he face someone like Merle O'Curle for the title. ROF Championship Merle O’Curle © vs Jack Giedroyc I predicted it last month, but I think it will happen this month O'Curle finally gets a win over the only man, he can't seem to beat.

Kevin Jones ticket taker when not on the card? Poor Kev. But Jones is a professional and Sergei needs a big debut win. Obviously. ROF Talisman Title Petey Barnes © vs Stevie Stoat - Simply because Barnes has one plum babe at his side and Stoat should be battling furhter up the card. Yes, that's the extent of my thought process on this beer refill of a match. ROF Tag Team Titles Warriors of Honour © vs Red Mafia - The Mafia heads East and does the job on the way out. Just struck me as I posted the latest newsletter that I'm the only member on the forum currently, yet there are 21 guests on! 3 of which are reading this diary. Now, I know that many of the guests might be regular forum posters who just aren't logged on (e.g. at work or whatever). But if any of you 'guests' aren't in that position, join up and join in! We're a good bunch! And it's much more fun taking part! :D
War with WLW should make things interesting for your Japan brand. A promotion war is one thing I haven't done as NYCW is always the lowest prestige promotion, and therefore would usually lose. :(
I actually don't think it will make it too interesting (unfortunately). We're higher prestige than WLW, so Dragon will sign for us over them. The only other guy it really affects is probably Burning EXILE. Negatively, it takes away my chance to work any talent trades with them in future. If I opened up all workers it might make it more interesting, but I've held off from doing that so far (so Buddy will be especially pleased). :D
