The Pay-Per-View broadcast begins with a gold tinted video of the feuds that will evolve tonight, all set to the backing music of 'Today' by the Smashing Pumpkins * We focus on 'Macho Man' Randy Savage's rage and his uncontrollable madness personality complex * We see Sting fighting two villains against the odds and see how great a wrestler he truly is and how much of a chance he has of ending the reign of 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho as the WCW World Heavyweight Championship * We see the faces of Bret 'The Hitman' Hart, the Giant, 'The Total Package' Lex Luger and 'Big Sexy' Kevin Nash who shape as the favourites for tonight's epic World War III sixty man over the top rope spectacular, the winner to gain automatic entry to the fatal four way at Four Shades of Hell Pay-Per-View in January of 1999. Mixed into this clip is montage visions of some of the nostalgic heroes who will come out for one last chance at redemption, including 'Beautiful' Bobby Eaton, 'Sweet' Stan Lane, the Honky Tonk Man and Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine. Sixty men will enter, one will walk out victorious, surviving this inferno of epic proportions. * We look at footage of Raven, Disco Inferno, 'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page and 'Latino Heat' Eddie Guerrero for the WCW Television Championship * We see glimpses of the remarkable streak of 175-0 that Bill Goldberg has built leading into his show down with his stable mate, 'Rabid Wolverine' Chris Benoit, the WCW United States Champion for a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Starrcade * And finally, we see flashbacks to the amazing career of 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair, a sixteen time World Heavyweight Champion whose career goes on the line tonight against a mystery man selected by the conniving 'Easy E' Eric Bischoff After some bright and loud rep pyros burst into the arena, we scramble a view of the seventeen thousand people here in the nations capital at the MCI Center, before we hear the overly excited voice of Tony Schiavone. "Welcome everyone, to this sold out capacity crowd here in Washington DC, you are watching WCW World War III and this promises to be a truly epic event," Tony Schiavone begins before pausing for a few seconds as we pan around the crowd, and then finally back to the commentary table. "Hello everybody, I am Tony Schiavone, and what a night we have in store for you. This great city has seen a lot of history, so that makes Washington DC the right place for an historic show down such as 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair, and... well, a mystery opponent. With me tonight in commentary as always for these phenomenal events is Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan and 'Iron' Mike Tenay." "What a night it promises to be Tony, it has a bit of everything for everyone," 'Iron' Mike Tenay comments. "Yeah, even the hameneggers I'm sure," Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan says. "Speaking of hameneggers, what chance of an outsider like Greg Valentine or the Honky Tonk Man shocking the world and going through to Four Shades of Hell?" "Anything can and will happen tonight Bobby," Tony says. "We've seen it time and time again in these types of events that the odds go out the window, it can come down to look, right place at the right time, or just getting on a major momentum roll. Speaking of great events tonight, we also have the WCW Cruiserweight Championship on the line between Ultimo Dragon and his arch nemesis Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger and later on tonight, a ladder match with the WCW Tag Team Championships suspended above the ring between Rey Mysterio Jr and Chavo Guerrero Jr against Thrillapalooza." "Boy, I can't wait for that," Tenay says. "Because coming out with Thrillapalooza will be Danica McKellar..." "Who?" Bobby asks. "You know, Winnie from the Wonder Years." "Oh, why didn't you just so?" Bobby says. "Well that's Danica McKellar..." "Who?" ---------------------------------- Meanwhile, backstage, 'Macho Man' Randy Savage is entering the arena, and walking into the back hallways. Little does he know that behind a corner, preying on him is Sting, watching his every move into the arena. "Tonight guys, these two go at it once more," Tony Schiavone says. "But more than that, they got a shot at Chris Jericho's WCW World Heavyweight Championship." "Savage should take an AVO out on that hamenegger," Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan says. "The psyche of both these men going into this bout is very interesting, guys," Mike Tenay offers. "Sting does not trust Randy Savage, when the nWo was incepted, Savage and Lex Luger stood by Sting, but then, almost criminally, they did not trust Sting when an nWo look-a-like version began turning the knife into WCW. Sting though believes the one who should never have been trusted in the first place is Savage, given Savage very quickly traded his WCW stripes and headed over to the nWo itself." --------------------------- Meanwhile, 'Easy E' Eric Bischoff is on his cell phone in his office, feet on his desk, looking extremely relaxed. "A-huh... Yep, sounds great. Man! This is going to be huge, dude, we're going to swerve them all! Yeah, alright, I can't wait to see the look on Flair's face... Haha, alright, bye.." "Does anyone know who it is yet?" Tony Schiavone asks. "I know," Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan says. "How do you know?" "Because I'm the Brain and you're not Skee-o-var-ney! It's my job to know these things and annoy you." "All I've heard Tony in these last few hours is that it's someone that Ric Flair knows, and knows well," 'Iron' Mike Tenay says. "There is evidently a very strong history between these two." "Well Einstein, that could be just about anyone given how long Ric Flair has been in professional wrestling for," Heenan retorts. These two brouuught it, sister. Very quick paced, with Lyger hitting two amazing corkscrew planchas on Ultimo Dragon on the outside being two particular highlights. Various near falls, as both men innovated with various hurricanranas, corkscrews, asai moonsaults 450 splashes and the like. After nine minutes of pure scintillation, both men were on the floor with the referee counting to 10. He got to 8 as both men stumbled up. Dragon went for a discus lariat, but Lyger ducked, Lyger went for a knife edge chop that hit. Dragon dropped to the floor and rolled up Lyger...1...2.... NO! Roll through from Lyger...1..2.... NO! Roll through from Dragon...1....2... feet on the ropes... 3! Result: Your winner, and STILL WCW Cruiserweight Champion, Ultimo Dragon
Backstage, Pamela Paulshock is standing by with 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion in the World War III interview control center. Jericho has the strap arrogantly dangling over his left shoulder, and a look of over zuberant confidence smeared from cheek to cheek. "Tonight Chris Jericho, you will face Sting and Rand.." "Whoa whoa whoa whoa!" Jericho interrupts. "Have you not got the memo? Do you not have a clue yet? ... Forget that, don't answer it, we already know the answer. Let me repeat for you again. You are to announce me as 'Lionheart'.. Chris Jericho, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, your paragon of good virtue, the ayatollah of rock n rolllllaaa, and the leader of all the Jerichoholics across the world. Got it? Good. Now, you twist of lemon zest and toothpaste, you want to know about how I feel going into a three way dance defence for my... MY World Heavyweight Championship? Tonight, the whole world focuses in on me, on ME, the WCW World Heavyweight Championship as I vanquish Randy Savage and Sting for once and for all. Tonight, the world acknowledges the guts, determination and skill that is required to be as great as I am. Oh it's going to happen..." He pauses, and then his facial expression turns to one of sour disdain, before a contemptuous shout billows out and shrieks to the world of his disgust. "But it's not like that, is it! No. Noooooo. NO! No, as I pick up a copy of the WCW Magazine this week, who should be on the cover? Randy Savage. An indepth personality evaluation by Scott Hudson. Scott Who? Some comic book story from some ... punk, who is this Hudson?" "He's from wcw.com.." "That was a rhetorical question, nimwit! It's all you sycophants out there, and all the hypocrites in the crowd and watching around the globe that refuse to acknowledge my immortal greatness that drives me on further, and further. So while the morons out there go out and buy the magazine, and all the Sting paraphernalia, and they throw it in my face each and every time I step forth to entertain them, all they are doing is drawing a death warrant for Savage and Sting. You see, I'm sick of it. I'M SICK OF IT!" He begins jumping up and down and grabbing his head, before it almost sounds like tears well up in his eyes. "What about me? It isn't fair. I've had enough and now I want my share. Can't you see? I want to live. But you just take more than you give. All you sycophantic hypocrites are guilty of it. Night after night I bust my soul hoping that some punk nosed pimpled face geek out there will acknowledge me as a great fighting Champion. And what do I get? Scott Harrison.." "Hudson.." "Fine, Hudson Harrison writing an expose on Randy Savage. Why not do an expose on me?!! Damn it, I'm interesting! All it is from these pretentious parasites is greed. And that's why I must destroy Sting and Savage for once and for all. And I will, tonight. Why? In the cities it's different. Middle aged wrestlers, careers dead, wrestlers who have spent their lives making fortunes, profiteering and profiteering. And then their career dies and they leave their money to their families. Their silly families. And what do their wives do, these useless women? You see them in the best hotels, every day by the thousands. Drinking the money, eating the money. Losing the money at Bridge, playing all day and all night. Smelling of money. Proud of their jewellery but of nothing else. Horrible, faded, fat greedy bottom feeding trash bag women..." "They're.. they're not that bad. In actual fact, if you're referring to women like Miss Elizabeth, they're nice women." "Are they? It's people who live off cowards like Savage, like Miss Elizabeth, who annoy me the most. Next thing she'll have her own weekly column. This is professional wrestling for God's sakes! It's about beating your man down, and tonight, I'll show the world again why professional wrestling is that simple, and why I will never...EEEEVVVERRRR become another Sting or a Randy Savage. You can count on me, toots." Jericho grins, as he walks away, leaving once more, Pamela Paulshock utterly confused. I swear, I wonder how Jerry Lynn didn't lose teeth given the way Chavo crowned him with the ladder. This was not your usual tag match. The rules were basically thrown out the window as the referee simply could not control the two teams, so instead of the usual heel take control, face gets a hot tag against the odds ya-ya-ya routine, we got to see basically a lucha libre type tag match with all men legal, and much high flying and chain wrestling. One of the spots of the night involved the steel ladder set up in the middle of the ring, Kidman jumped off the top and caught Rey by the neck and drove him down with a hurricanrana from hell. The ladder was also used as a make shift break in the corner when Rey irish whipped Jerry Lynn head first into it. This sort of brutality went on and on, moves such as drop toe holds ended up with faces splattered against the ladder rung. Kidman ended up getting frustrated and started tearing at the mask of Rey Mysterio Jr. Danica McKellar, the ever beautiful Winnie Cooper, jumped in the ring and pleaded for Kidman to stop, showing herself to be a victim of mask-itis and the importance of the mask in lucha libre, which gave Rey a chance to low blow Kidman. All is fair in love and war. Kidman fell forward, accidentally forcing Danica to the mat, and ended up planting his head in her chest. Lucky guy. This nearly became a spot-a-thon, except for Jerry Lynn's ability to control a match tempo. And perhaps it was as a reward to this, that after six or seven close grabs at the belts, followed by falls back into the ring, and moonsaults off the ladder, that Jerry Lynn would be the man to defy the odds. After twenty three minutes of carnage, Jerry Lynn was able to grab the titles, and when he fell back into the ring, Kidman ended up hugging their associate, Ryan Lynn, the sister of Jerry Lynn, while Jerry Lynn was even able to grab a kiss from Winnie. Lucky! An end to an unbelievably great reign, that has truly resulted in Chavo and Rey catapulting up the WCW rankings. Result: Your winners, and NEW WCW Tag Team Champions, Thrillapalooza
Backstage, Pamela Paulshock sees Disco Inferno walking towards the Gorilla Position with Kimberly Page, and stops the two in their tracks. "Disco Inferno, tonight you will take on three men as you attempt to defend your WCW Television Championship," she states. "Well golly, can you hear the thousands, and thousands, of fans out there in that groovin' arena? Can you hear the billions of fans around the world tuned into this most important event? That's a stone cold groove, princess Pamela. And speaking of Princesses, Kimberly baby, I was going to wait till I retained the Championship tonight, but golly, I've had a rush of blood... and it's not down there, if you know what I'm saying." He drops down on his knee, and from his orange disco jacket pulls out a very heavily gold plated wrist watch. "Baby, I want you to have this. This was my Grandmother's, and I promised I'd hold onto it till If found someone truly special. Someone I know I can trust. Kimberly, you remind me of my Grandmother, you're so honest, so beautiful, so charming, will you?" Kimberly bats her eyelids, as he puts the watch on her, and then he kisses her hand, before taking her by the hand and leading her towards the match.
WCW Television Championship Disco Inferno (c) v Raven v 'The Master of the Diamond Cutter' Diamond Dallas Page v 'Latino Heat' Eddie Guerrero This was an overbooked, near fall-a-thon. Although, in the early stages of the matches it was suprisingly timid by nature, as no man gave the slightest opening to his opponent to hit his finisher, and thus near falls were consummated off basic moves that are simply not designed to win matches in this day and age. However, as the match moved on, the tempo rose, and with that the risks increased. And this in particular made the work of one Eddie Guerrero particularly sharp, as he loosened the reigns and allowed himself more and more to get to the top to try and knock down Raven and Page and Disco with tenacity and authority. It also brought in his devilish intent, his win at all costs mentality, and earned him the ire of referee Billy Silverman. Billy Silverman though would become a key component to the ending of this extraordinary Television Championship defence, perhaps, given the nature thats its a four man dance, the most pivotal and dangerous in the belt's existence. Disco Inferno proceeded to get on a roll, but then he irish whipped Diamond Dallas Page who made a bee-line for Billy Silverman, knocking the referee down. As Disco Inferno checked on Silverman, Kimberly Page took something from her purse and rose to the ring. As Disco turned around, she swung her right hand into his forehead and flattened him. Kimberly showed the watch, wrapped with a steel chain, and then she threw away the evidence. Page covered Disco, but the referee was slow to awaken. Eventually he slid over. 1....2.... NO! As Page argued, Eddie Guerrero came from behind and inside cradled Page...1.....2... NO! Guerrero then hit a swinging neckbreaker before swinging to the top rope... FLYING FROG SPLASH! 1....2....thre... NO! Raven raced into the ring and pulled Eddie off Page. Eddie and Raven went toe to toe, before Raven ducked Eddie, swung behind him and hit a tiger suplex on Eddie. Raven released, and as Eddie stumbled to his feet... EVENFLOW! 1...2....thr... NO! Page got up, Page went for the Diamond Cutter, but Raven ducked... Raven turned around, Diamond Cutter from Raven! 1.....2......3! Result: Your winner, and NEW WCW Television Champion, Raven
Backstage, Pamela Paulshock's assistant for the evening, like the floating helium balloon duo really need a rest, 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes stands by in the WCW World War III Interview Control Center with the Giant, who towers above the portly Rhodes. "Well, wooo yeah baby, we're live and in kulah here in Washin-tttooon DC, and tonight, Giant, you have a great opportunity to advancssse to Four Shades of Hell in January for a shot at the dubbya cee dubbya Worlds Heavyweight Champioooonship. How do you feel about tonight's World War III?" The Giant snarls, and then pounds his right fist into his left palm, his teeth gritting. "I feel pain... I feel vengeance... I feel victory... I don't care if I maim a man tonight Dusty, tonight I'm going to show the world why Jack and the Beanstalk... is a FANTAASSSSYYYY!" The Giant launches his right arm in the air in the signal of the Chokeslam, before leaving Rhodes wide mouthed. This was the advertisement for the lifestyles required to be a Horsemen. And boy, did they deliver, or what? It was clear from the sheer brutality of some of Benoit's reverse knife edge chops, and Goldberg's tenacity in pulling all the tricks out of what has been perceived to be a limited bag including drop toe holds into ankle locks, and the scrunching up of his face as he delivered tightening submissions, that this would no ordinary bout. Whereas throughout Goldberg's limited career, his matches have been limited, tonight he was driven, perhaps carried somewhat, to easily the match of his career. What the crowd saw tonight was a new Bill Goldberg, a new improved version, one that knew that he was simply unable to go for the Spear and Jackhammer combination on Chris Benoit without earning it. Because Chris Benoit, in 1998, has been tenacious. He has had a no holds barred attitude, has fought some of the biggest names in this industry - and won. And comfortably. Perhaps match for match, Chris Benoit has been the elite performer in professional wrestling in 1998. But his opponent was no ordinary opponent, for no man can possibly get to 175 and 0 and be incredible. If Chris Benoit is the elite, Bill Goldberg is the legend upon whom all other professional sportsmen's achievements are based against. He is the benchmark. He is the yardstick. For as limited as Goldberg may be, there is no doubting his effectiveness. These two know each other so well, and this brought an extra element to the bout. Time and time again either man was able to defy the other and avoid a finisher, or a signature move. They knew each other's set ups, they knew each other's tell tale signs, and this drove this match into a stalemate, and the crowd into a frenzy as both men began improvising and innovating to find new, destructive ways to overcome perhaps this, the biggest adversity in professional wrestling. Indeed, instead of having numerous pin fall attempts, what we got was various submission hold attempts. You could put the names out of a hat - bow and arrow lock submission, Romero Special, Cobra Clutch, Ankle Lock, Figure Four Leg-lock, and more, as the middle portion of the match was pure mat wrestling. Of course it was obvious that Chris Benoit was carrying the match, but make no mistake in apportioning praise to Bill Goldberg for following suit and fighting a remarkable fight, with the exception of one or two glitches in technical holds, Goldberg did an impressive job. Finally, after what appeared to an epic mat encounter, the two wrestlers found a way to wriggle free to vertical balances, and we got to see some stiff martial arts work. Goldberg has a happy knack of trading standing side kicks, but his offence was kind of shown by Benoit who went for more enterprising kicks, stiff kicks at that, the aim of which was clear. To maim the ribs and to render his leg strength futile. The strategy was clear and decisive. Try and take the Spear and Jackhammer out of play. Mythically, Tony Schiavone undersold Goldberg by asking if he had anything left after those moves, but the fact of the matter is the man was able to put Benoit into some crippling submission manouvers only two or three minutes ago. Following on from the kicks to the legs, Benoit attempted to make hay while the sun shone by sending Goldberg criss crossing across the ring with various irish whip chain wrestling moves that kept the big man stretching those calves despite the blood calcifying in the back of his legs to fight the enormous pain he must have been feeling. Benoit though had to be careful, and he had to ensure that while the irish whips were working, that Goldberg didn't counter. Which he did. Goldberg held onto Benoit's arm and pulled him back into a high knee into Benoit's rips. Benoit was doubled over, so Goldberg hit him hard with the standing side kick. He then worked Benoit into the corner, and his him with a thundering shoulder block, knocking the United States Champion down to the mat, seemingly unconscious. Goldberg then started pounding on the head of Benoit mercilessly, and then stomping on his middrift. But Mike Tenay made a very clever point. It appeared every move Chris Benoit had applied had logic, and was strategically delivered to minimise the hope of the Spear and Jackhammer. While this dazed Benoit, it did little to minimise the potential Crippler Crossface. But still, none the less, this was nothing less than savage. Eventually, the two men went toe to toe in the center of the ring, where Benoit then whipped Goldberg into the ropes and knocked him to the outside with a stunning drop kick. Benoit, uncharacteristically perhaps, then ran from the opposite side of the ring, hit the top rope and hit a twisting corkscrew plancha on Goldberg, knocking him head first into the steel guardrail! Goldberg was knocked out and dazed, and we could see a trickle of blood leave his forehead. Benoit rolled back in, as referee Mickey Jay made the count. 6......7.....still no signs of life.... 8..... 9..... 10! Mickey Jay called for the bell, and told David Penzer to announce it as a knock out. However, Chris Benoit grabbed the microphone from Penzer. "Hold the hell on," Benoit said. "This is not what WCW is all abooouuutt. WCW is about tradition, its about honour. Its about respect. So no way in hell you ring the bell for these fans short changing them, this Championship... and these people... they deserve better. So I'm asking for you to let the match.... CARRY ON!" Mickey Jay looked shocked but shrugged his shoulders. Eventually, Goldberg arose and entered the ring. He looked on, shocked at Benoit, who simply nodded his head, and the two men locked up in a collar and elbow tie up once more in the middle of the ring. Goldberg somehow overpowered Benoit, and then proceeded to chop to the back of Benoit's knees. This was a sign of strategic intent from a desperate Goldberg, who knew his one remaining chance now was to drive Benoit down, remove his ability to speed around the ring, and make him vulnerable to the Spear. He kept kicking and working on the knee joints of Chris Benoit, but eventually, Benoit, in a seemingly hopeless position, grabbed Goldberg by the head from from a lying position and drove him head first into the mat. Benoit slowly back to his feet, as Goldberg lay dazed on the mat, and he put the signal of the slit across his throat, but as he did so, Goldberg inside cradled him...1...2... NO! Benoit rolled through, Crippler Crossface, no, he couldn't get it on. Benoit pulled Benoit up, and sent him into the ropes, but Goldberg came back with the Spear, but Benoit raised his right knee, and Goldberg's head collected his knee! Goldberg is out. Benoit slowly headed to the corner, limping, before slowly, very slowly, he was able to climb the ropes... Diving Headbutt! He writhed on the mat in agony, before rolling over to Goldberg... CRIPPLER CROSSFACE! With the blood smeering Goldberg's eyes, Goldberg was screaming, but the scream subsided, and so did the kicking and wailing. After two minutes of excruciation, referee Mickey Jay made the mortifying find that Goldberg had passed out, and thus surrendered. Benoit is the winner! Benoit has defied the odds! The streak is .. OVER! 175 and now... ONE! Finally, after a stand off, Benoit pulls Goldberg to his feet. Benoit looks to leave the ring, but Goldberg pulls him back and holds his arm aloft, as the two men embrace in the ring. "What a moment," Tony Schiavone says. "What a man Bill Goldberg is, yes, he's just sustained his first ever loss, but my God, I doubt we will ever see anything like his streak ever again. 175 wins on the trot, find me a competitor in any sport who can do that!" We pan around the crowd, as Also Sparch Zarathrusta begins, and 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair descends down the ramp. "Nearly thirty years in the business, the most coveted World Heavyweight Champion of all time with sixteen reigns, he is a colossus and tonight, he faces his destiny!" Flair stops at the bottom of the ramp, and twirls with his arms extended as the pyros burst out around him. He continues to walk to the ring, and once in the ring, stands, and waits. Hogan talked smack into the camera about ending Ric Flair forever. Once in the ring, Hogan ripped off his black and white nWo shirt, and pointed the finger at Flair. The two circled the ring, playing it up for the rabid crowd, feigning to meet in the middle of the ring before continuing to circle, waiting for a mistake in the dance. Finally the two men went to hook up, but all Flair did was put his index finger onto the chest of Hogan, who immediately fell back! Everything was on the line. Perhaps this would be Sting and Savage's last shots at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in some time, and perhaps the same for Jericho, should he bow out tonight. That raised the tension bar, raised the exasperation, this was simply do or die. And the stakes were intensified simply by making it all men in, and that Chris Jericho does not even have to be privvy to the defining fall to lose his Championship. Savage was full of intent. And early on, he was pulverising both men with a rich vein of momentum, a staggering flow of madness adrenalin, as he clotheslined and slammed both men repeatedly. It almost seemed like Jericho and Sting would have to do the unthinkable and join forces to overcome this staggering vein of madness adrenalin in Randy Savage. And they did. Both men retaliated with a well timed double clothesline to send Savage over the top rope, hitting the floor hard. Sting and Jericho then worked on each other, with a lot of quick chain wrestling, before Jericho eerily went for an early submission with the Liontamer. But Sting was able to use his experience, and he grabbed the foot of Jericho and over turned it into a Scorpion Death Lock. As Sting arched back, having the move on perfectly, there appeared no respite, no hope for Jericho. But Jericho, while in unnerving agony, screamed and moaned but kept his heart driving and eventually found the guts to propel himself to his wrists and crawl, despite the wrenching of his back, to the ropes and get free of the move. With that, Jericho rolled to the outside, and Sting was stung by Savage who had got back up and clotheslined Sting from behind. This next spot of one on one was... for wont of a better word, savage, as both men, full of hatred and contempt for one another fought like scalded cats, raking eyes, scratching backs, slapping each other with reverse knife edge chops that left ghastly red and purple imprints on their respective chests. Eventually Savage picked up Sting, and hoisted him into a gorilla press, tossing him to the outside to Jericho, who moved out of the way, leaving Sting to fly head first into the guardrail. Jericho came back in, and Savage and Jericho went at. Jericho immediately dropped down low and staggered Savage with a low blow, before whipping him into the corner, and trying to attack Savage, who turned it around, put Jericho into the corner and proceeded to mount a standing ten count of right fists to the head of Jericho, who then flopped face first to the mat. Savage picked up Jericho, and then dropped him with a body slam. Savage then went to the top rope, and signalled for the Flying Elbow Smash, but Sting quickly arose and rattled the top rope, crowning Savage. Sting came into the ring, and tossed Savage over the top and onto the body of Chris Jericho! Sting began beating on his chest, WOOOOOOOOOOOO!! The crowd roared. He picked Savage up, and Jericho, by the hair, and then... BANG! Headbutting each other, lovely. Both men stumbled, and Sting dropped them both with a hard clothesline. Sting then picked up Savage, and irish whipped him over the top rope. He sent Jericho into the corner.... STINGER SPLASH! And another! Jericho staggered... but as Sting went for a Scorpion Death Drop, Jericho wriggled free, and hit an innovative DDT! He planted Sting's head perfectly. Cover from Jericho...1...2.... NO! Savage pulled Jericho free. Savage covers Sting...1....2... No, Sting presses Savage off. Sting then inside cradles Savage...1....2 NO! Savage gets free, clothesline from Jericho, and then a cover....1..2... NO! Jericho picked up Sting, body slam. Into the middle rope... Lionsault! 1...2...thr.. NO! Shoulder up! After the initial sheer brutality of Savage, the minuteness and closeness of each men nearly walking away with the Championship trophy left all three gasping for air, and looking on in despair knowing how close they all were, and how one slight mistake would be their undoing. Savage and Jericho then for some reason proceeded to work together to immobolise Sting, working over his leg joints with various wrenches and take downs. Savage then turned on Jericho with a thundering clothesilne, and hip tossed Jericho to the outside. Savage to the top rope.... Flying Elbow Smash... 1...2.. Sting body pressed Savage off! And sat up! He stood up and began beating on his chest. When Savage turned around, he was mortified and tried to leave the ring, but Jericho grabbed him from behind on the apron and pushed him into Sting who raised his right boot slamming his head into the boot of Sting. Sting continued to beat his chest, but Jericho tried to surprise him by leaping off the top steel cable with a cross body block, but Sting was alert, caught him and then dropped him with a crippling back breaker. And so it went on and on, all three men countering various momentum shifts, no one truly taking complete control. As the match developed however, Sting and Savage's hatred for one another shone through, and then began to lose some focus on Jericho, who seemed to be recuperating and staying clear of the cat fight going on between the two former World Heavyweight Champions. Jericho seemed pleased to see both men try to knock each other out of the match without really firing a shot. Eventually though Jericho got drawn in, and he managed to drop Savage from behind with a tough Dragon Suplex with a bridge...1...2.. NO! Sting then baseball slid into Savage's head, sending the former nWo member head first to the floor. Rights and lefts from Jericho and Sting, and finally a spit in the eye from Jericho, who then hit a high vertical suplex on Sting. Jericho then began working over the legs of Sting, and then dropped the knee point first on the nose of Sting. As Savage began to come to, Jericho quickly raced to the ropes and hit a high cross body block over the top rope sending Savage tumbling to the mat outside again. Jericho rolled back... Inside cradle from Sting...1....2... NO! Now from Jericho, but with his feet on the ropes...1....2....thr.. NO! Sting then caught Jericho's boot, and rolled him through... Scorpion Death Lock, but Jericho got the rope, and then kicked Sting off. Jericho got up, as Sting raced at him, but as Sting went for a drop kick, Jericho got his leg, and then the other, and rolled him over in the center of the ring... LIONTAMER! He had it on perfectly, and there was nowhere for Sting to go, it was hopeless. Completely and utterly hopeless. And while he waited for Savage, there was no help there either. Eventually, he had to tap! Jericho has retained, and is going to Starrcade! Result: Your winner, and STILL WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Chris Jericho
Post match, rather than hold his arm aloft, 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho slid out of the ring and took the steel chair that Michael Buffer was sitting on, and slid back into the ring. He stood over Sting with a cruel look on his face, and as he pulled the chair back to end Sting for once and for all, 'Rabid Wolverine' Chris Benoit had slid into the ring, and stole the chair from him. The two men stood chest to chest, as Jericho argued with Benoit who merely smiled a small smile, knowing he would have his chance at Jericho at Starrcade.

With that said, I think Disco will retain as I think the other three are too over for the belt and they don't need it WCW United States Championship - For a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Starrcade: 'Rabid Wolverine' Chris Benoit (c) v Bill Goldberg Hmm... this is a toughie. If you go with US Champion vs WCW Champion at Starrcade, which would be pretty sweet, then that sounds cool but you will be missing out on a brilliant US Title match for Benoit at the grandaddy of them all. So I'm a bit torn on this one. I'm sure Goldberg will win the belt at Starrcade (I think 10 years haven't been kind to peoples memory just how over Goldberg was, I reckon in '98 it was pretty close between him and Austin) so he has to win the belt at the big one, but I don't know where that leaves Benoit For Ric Flair's career termination or for Flair to gain a shot at 'Easy E' Eric Bischoff at Starrcade: 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair v A Mystery Opponent I'm going to guess the mystery opponent wins but Flair finds a way to face Bischoff anyway. The mystery opponent thing has been handled really well, and it helps that we can't see what is happening with WWF so don't know who has been missing from their shows (whch might give it away). I don't think it's Austin as that seems too obvious, so I'm guessing it is one of Undertaker or Foley, as that would be huge (and Foley would be a great person to put up against Flair because of the hatred and promos that could follow), however, I've got a feeling it will be Shawn Michaels or Owen Hart, because... World War III: 60 Man over the top rope Battle Royal - Bret Hart ... I've got Bret to win this, leaving Bret free for a Starrcade match (if he doesn't face Davey Boy Smith) and the 'mystery opponent' free for a match at Starrcade... Michaels vs Bret, or Bret vs Owen! How sweet would that be?! Incidentally, I reckon Bret will win simply because he needs to keep looking good while he's kind of between anything important at the moment. WCW World Heavyweight Championship: 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho (c) v 'Macho Man' Randy Savage v Sting Jericho has been looking too good to drop the title anywhere except Starrcade, in the main event, against Goldberg, with the Horsemen overcoming the nWo
Thanks for the tips, and the thoughts mate. I've been looking forward to this card for a very, very, very long time. In some ways, yes, I was even happy to get to the Goldberg loss, because I thought in WCW fa'real, it was done very poorly, and could have been used to elevate someone into something very special. Monday Nitro should be a great night, find out what really went down with Ric Flair, Hollywood Hogan and Eric Bischoff, and the fall out from Benoit-Goldberg. Just one other little aside, on the Chris Jericho promo... There's two pop-culture references. Firstly, Moving Pictures' song 'What About Me', and Uncle Charlie from Shadow of a Doubt, the Alfred Hitch**** classic. I absolutely love that movie, so couldn't resist! First of all, great WW3 show. Definitely a few surprises, especially Goldberg losing his streak. Not sure that I agree with that but that's why I'm not the writer. lol. Benoit/Jericho at Starrcade should be a classic, though. Bret Hart winning the WW3 was good but I'm not a big Bret Hart fan so I must admit that my heart sunk when I saw that Taz eliminated himself after having eliminated several others. But that is one thing about this diary is that I really get into it and root for the specific characters. I found myself cheering when Hogan dropped down to the 'fingerpoke of doom' and Ric Flair won the battle and will finally get a chance at Bischoff. I also enjoyed the Thrillapalooza win and Jericho winning as well though I would have preferred the win to be over Savage because, well, I like Sting moreso than the Macho Man. lol. Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger v Psicosis -I like Psicosis, in fact I recently had his alter-ego Nicho lose a Feast vs. Fired match, and return as Psychosis, so I gotta pick him here. I was wrong on almost everything, but I loved the show. I'm saddest by Disco losing, and saying that on a show where Goldberg's streak was broke shows how you make us love all these old time characters. Hart was a good choice to win...I don't know why I couldn't look past Taz. You just seemed to be giving him some good victories lately and setting it up..I don't know, I out thought myself there I think. Love the rehash of the Fingerpoke but with Hogan laying down...I wonder what the reaction would of been if the Fingerpoke was known as Hogan going down for Flair. Anyways, really great stuff and had a lot of fun reading it. Simply awesome man. Great effort put into writing that and preparing all the different storylines and everything came off great. It'd been a fun little ride with Disco, but I think it would be difficult to see him maineventing pay per views in the future whereas with Raven it could easily come true. To be honest I had completely forgetton about Hogan. He's been gone for so long and at first I wondered why you got rid of the most over star in the Wrestling World. I can't wait for Nitro to see him and Flair hopefully team up to destroy Bischoff and the nWo. That be be amazing. It's always going to be a huge risk to have Goldberg lose to anybody, but if you ask me then I don't think there was anybody more perfect than Benoit in this situation to do it. For ages we've all thought it was a given that Goldberg was going to win the title at Starrcade, but then you threw in the Benoit swerve which I loved and it changed things. I still thought Goldberg would come out on top, but i'm actually more happy Benoit did. Terrific stuff. Roll on Starrcade. Didn't see the finger point of doom coming at all. Curses you and your imagination. My only beef, and you know how much I hate saying anythign negative, Is Benoit truely more popular than Goldberg? Dont have a problem having Goldberg losing, just unsure if Benoit coud have ever done it. I can actually see how the match ended and it was nicely done. So dont get me wrong my freind. Maybe alittle more insight on this subject could enlighten me. But other than that one objection great show.

You see, this is what I was talking about PM. When you asked me about it I said I don't like those sort of angles, but I thought you could pull it off if anyone could. And blow me down, you pulled it off. Aprt from the positive reaction from other readers proving it was a good idea, the way you built it up and executed it, it just made so much sense. Flair finally gets a piece of Bischoff, Hogan is back and the Fingerpoke of Doom might be known as a good thing. Really liked it. Apart from that, the show was of course top notch. Really, really good. Benoit going over was well handled because as much as Goldberg lost the streak, he hasn't lost his credibility as he took it like a man and people are still playing up that 175-1 is still an incredible feat, especially as he was never pinned or made to submit. Aside from that the whole show was fantastic. Good call on changing the tag team champions, Raven as TV Champion makes sense and it's raised the prestige of the title again (to the point that every one of your titles look like they mean something really special), everything was just fanastic. Thanks a lot, guys. Really interesting feedback, and its great to see because it shows to me when people are discussing finishes and how matches and segments go that the matches/segments are being read/visualised, which is vital, as I try to make sure there's a lot of moments in the long run that make sense from perhaps what seem to be non-eventful moments at the time. Just a couple of quick comments: - Glad to see the positive reviews for what is essentially the reverse 'fingerpoke of doom'. I toyed with having Schiavone word it that way, but ... well, I love Schiavone seeming to have no idea :D:D Tends to suit him, I think, he plays that role veeerrrry effectively!!!! As some peeps on here would know from my various WCW rants, I hated the Fingerpoke of Doom, because it was illogical and served no purpose and in the context of the commentary delivered that night on Mick Foley, could not fail but be a tornado of trouble for WCW. I think corrupt outcomes have a means to the promotion, when there's a method to their madness such as worker elevation, main storyline plot promotion etc, but that... that to me reeked of political sabotage, nothing more. - With the various parties to the Battle Royal, there were a few wrestlers that I was keen to promote, without necessarily winning the Battle Royal. I hope, I truly hope, Taz came across as being one of those, and the fact he self eliminated himself still in my mind keeps him strong. I kinda try to use matches like that to advance long term stories, and I hope for example Taz is seen still strong by the means he exited the match and his impact before hand. - Onto the WCW Television Championship match, I am really glad to sense that Disco Inferno earned respect from his all too brief run. In some ways I got TEW'ed into his run, as his skills were improving out of sight, and despite how much I... not willingly, but subconciously, had jobbed him... he never seemed to drop too much down the card and was only ever a win away from rising quickly. In one sense it was with a smile that I noticed this, because I know (in the privacy of my own lough :p) that when Disco Fever hit, I got up and shaked it like Disco too! Heh, his character was funny, and part of the undercard-midcard feature list that I adored. - Lastly, Benoit and Goldberg. In terms of Benoit going over, in 1998 fa'real, I doubt Benoit could have gone over, as WCW, while making him a Horsemen, seemed to love letting him rip up the midcard with good matches, but really didn't want to take a punt on him until late in 1999 when it was probably too late. Here, I've given him a run since the start really, with the WCW US Championship, and his overness has shot up. When I've discussed WCW with fellow WCW marks, I've also talked about 'how to end Goldberg's streak', and the truth of the matter is, it suits how I wanted to do it, to use it to truly catapult and bridge someone up to the top. The other way in my mind to do it in 1998 would be to hot-shot a Sting-Bret Hart WCW Championship feud whereby Hart goes over (could be any type, from a face-face respect feud to a jealousy feud more so from the side of Bret Hart while maintaining his face colours), get Goldberg the belt a couple of months out from Starrcade, and have Hart win it back at Starrcade. This was one of the things I thought about doing with this diary, as I wanted Bret Hart to be strong, unlike how he was booked in WCW fa'real as I am a massive Hitman mark. Thanks so much for your feedback guys, and I hope some feedback from me, whose crazy enough to write this stuff :D, gives you all a brief idea as to the lunacy in my mind and how I came up with this stuff. I personally can't wait to get Nitro up, because again, it really brings things home for Starrcade, which has been the centerpiece idea from the start. I am so glad for the feedback given, I'm really glad the various twists, swerves, and plot points generated such an interest. Thanks again for reading, and rock on WCW.

"Welcome to WCW Monday Nitro," Tony Schiavone shouts out, as the red amd gold pyros burst out throughout this Milwaukee arena. "The night after perhaps the greatest Pay-Per-View in WCW history. Hello everybody, I'm Tony Schiavone and with me tonight, Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan and 'The Living Legend' Larry Zbysko, and guys, tonight, the countdown to the ultimate war begins..." "Countdown?" Larry Zbysko proclaims. "Countdown? There is no countdown, the war is raging wild across the wrestling world Schiavone, and it carries here tonight in Milwaukee." "I'm sure you're right Larry," Tony continues. "What a night we have in store for you. Tonight, Raven will make his first defence of the WCW Television Championship against none other than former two time WCW World Heavyweight Champion 'Total Package' Lex Luger. Also in action tonight, new World Tag Team Champions Thrillapalooza, Scott Steiner will be along a little later tonight on this broadcast to face off against his arch nemesis Taz, and we will have all the fall out exclusively here on WCW Monday Nitro from World War III. Speaking of which, that right there folks, is a very large part of the whole story!" ---------------------------- As Schiavone says this, backstage, Hulk Hogan, in the red and black, walks into the arena, and signs an autograph for a kid at the door way. "Always remember dude, keep eating your vitamins and saying your prayers dude, and you too can go straight to the top," he says, as the child smiles, as Hogan prophetically returns to WCW Monday Nitro, receiving an enormous pop just be sheer name association for the crowd who see him on the Turner-Tron. -------------------------------------- "And later tonight," we hear from Tony Schiavone, as we cut back to the commentary table, "We will hear from Hulk Hogan who ... well, defied everyone, and every notion of what would go down at World War III. But first, we're going to the back, where Pamela Paulshock is standing by with the newly crowned WCW Television Champion, Raven!" Backstage in the WCW Interview Center, Pamela Paulshock, the vuluptuous heavily chest blond interviewer stands by with Raven, who has the WCW Television Championship strapped around his waist. The initial shot of this scene though is a zoom on the Championship belt, to show the name-plate of Raven. Raven has a facial expression of delight and accomplishment, as Pamela raises the microphone to her lips. "Last night at World War III, Raven, you became the WCW Television Champion. This is a belt that has been held by the likes of Ricky Steamboat, Steven Regal and Arn Anderson, and you add your name to a lineage of legends. How do you feel knowing that your name is alongside those heroes?" "All my life I have been drifting along, dreaming pitiful dreams, inordinate dreams of self ravage and indignant personal pain. Last night was the rise to the top of my life emotionally, it was the most satisfying night of my life and I am proud... to stand here... in Milwaukee," he says, as he waits for the pop from the crowd, "as the new WCW Television Champion. You see Pamela, the last few months have awoken my mind. In my dormant mind for so long, the terror of the world inflicted in my shallow, black heart was the result of others. It was the result of greed. It was the result of luck. What about me? What about Raven? Why did I personally sacrifice my life night in night out with no regard, with no hope, with no pity, for no chance at personal glory? And it all came to be. It all came to be when Eric Bischoff tried to torment my mind by asking me to align with the New World Order, shortly after the Flock was freed. But I learned a lot from the Flock being freed. I learned to become my own man. I learned to fight my own fights. I learned to stop putting my own self pities in the minds of mere fools who chose to be led by an anarchist. And my life long goal became apparent. And so did my view over the horizon. For every night when I stood out there having my brain rattle against the inside of my skull, I could not see the forest for the trees and I could not see the crowd for the seats. I used to sit with them, but I was not one of them. I was a loner. I was a loner by choice. Life threw me a curveball, and when I couldn't knock a grand slam out of the park I blamed them. But as Eric Bischoff tried to coax me into the biggest mistake of my career, I suddenly saw the crowd, and I saw through the clothes, the flesh, and into the hearts and minds of the crowd. And I understood the visions they had. And I understood their visions were no different than mine. It was just how they tried to accomplish it that was different. And here I was, unsuccessful. And there they were, defying the odds. I will always be a perennial drifter, I will always be misunderstood by some, but I know how to fight the fight, and here I stand tonight, as the new WCW Television Champion, alongside many great legends." Just then 'The Total Package' Lex Luger walked onto the scene, and after a tense stand off, he extended his right hand, shaking the hand of the Champion. Luger then patted Raven on the back. "What you did last night Raven, was incredible," Luger says. "I have been in this industry for over a decade, and you have so much of the best attributes of so many of the best I've faced from Hogan to Bruiser Brody to Ole Anderson. You're tough like 'em all too, so I want to be the first to come out here and congratulate you on becoming a Champion here." Again Luger extends his hand, and they two shake hands. Luger turns to leave, but he's holding onto the hand of Raven and then viciously pulls him into a stiff arm clothesline, knocking the Champion to the ground. The Champion scrambles to all fours, and then sits up on his knees, raising his fists. "You're going to be a great Champion son," Luger said. "Because being a Champion is about being hunted down. And tonight, you are rising to the elite levels facing the Total Package, Lex Luger," he says, as he flexes. "I've been overlooked for too long, Raven, so tonight, the question is not going to be ... what about Raven? The statement I will make is... Lex Luger is STILL the most powerful athlete in professional wrestling today. Son, what you just copped there is just one of the many tricks you will have to unlock tonight to defeat me! Enjoy your Championship reign, however brief it may be, because tonight, I help you take the target off your back, and you can learn from me as the next great Television Champion," Luger says, before walking off. Raven eventually rises, and shakes the cobwebs off and dusts himself off. But as we cut to a break, his look of despair turns to a smile, as the throbbing pain in his head rises and rises, seemingly enjoying the tenacity of the challenge.
Psicosis v Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger A swift opening match, a match largely controlled by Psicosis who scintillated with a series of audacious high rise moves. Lyger was on the back foot constantly warding off near falls, but being the veteran champion he is, he always seemed to have something up his sleeve, and eventually, after seven minutes of blistering action, he was able to find an inside cradle roll up out of desperation to defeat Psicosis. Result: Your winner, Jushin Lyger
After the match, we watched several replays of some of the key high spots in the match, and the way Jushin 'Thunder' Lyger cleverly rolled up his opponent Psicosis for a remarkable, defiant victory that adds to his legion of success around the globe. Tony Schiavone waxed lyrical about Lyger's ability to defy all the odds, and tonight he had to pull out all the stops to get the come from behind win. The crowd popped big time when the thumping music of Bill Goldberg pulsed throughout the arena. Brazil! Brazil! Brazil! Brazil! It was like being at Carnivale, or being in Rio after Brazil had won the Football World Cup. I was here thinking what the point of this piped in chant is, then I realised, I wasn't listening correctly; it was actually: GOLDBERG! GOLDBERG! GOLDBERG! GOLDBERG! GOLDBERG! GOLDBERG! And indeed, the now newly defeated hero exited his dressing room with a crash, which left Doug Dillenger reeling. Goldberg appeared, with a blood stain on his forehead, flanked by Milwaukee's finest, which we are assured to be there to protect anyone who tries anything on Goldberg, not the other way around. They continued to wind around the alleys and corners backstage before storming through the curtain, and to the bottom of the ramp. Goldberg stood there, being consumed by the steaming pyros, which eventually exploded, and he stormed through pumping his left and right arm. In his right hand he has a Nitro microphone, as he continues to walk to the ring. He stops for a second at the top of the steps, and surveys the crowd, and almost looks humbled to see the fans on their feet for Goldberg, despite the Four Horsemen member staggering to his first ever loss in an epic match at World War III last night. He stood in the ring, and started nodding, acknowledging the crowd with the Four Horsemen salute, before raising the microphone to address the world in what must surely be the most trying time in Bill Goldberg's short, but already epic career. However, the chants are still burning through the arena, so Goldberg drops the microphone, and lets the chants drown us out, before raising the microphone once more. "Thank you, thank you," he says, as the crowd begin clapping. "These last twenty four hours have been the most emotional of my short lived career. And many thoughts crossed my mind. I had never lost before, I never even expected to lose. And the sheer shock it caused me, I even considered leaving WCW." The crowd begin to boo, as Goldberg nods, indiciating the statement was true. Before the crowd can really get into him though, Goldberg raises the microphone once more. "But you know something? I know that's not the spirit of a Four Horsemen..." Four Horsemen! Four Horsemen! Four Horsemen! This capacity crowd chants. "And I know that's not the spirit expected right here in Milwaukee!" The cheap pop comment duly delivers its desired result. Just then, we heard the clicking of hooves, as 'The Enforcer' Arn Anderson, the official delegate of the Four Horsemen, and indeed the co-President of World Championship Wrestling, who himself made a triumphant return in the last week or two, begins to walk down the aisle. At the top of the ramp, he pushes his glasses up, and has his hands in a tea-pot pose, hands on waist, as he surveys the crowd, realising how hardcore these Four Horsemen fans are tonight. He walks down to the ring, and once in the ring, extends his right hand and shakes the hand of his protege, before lofting it high in acknowledgement. "Son, I am glad with the decision you have made," Anderson says. "Because WCW needs you, the Four Horsemen needs you... these fans need you, and frankly, in my mind, you need WCW! I want to show you and all the fans around the world a little something, if I could direct your attention up there, to the screen." GOLDBERG! GOLDBERG! GOLDBERG! "That night Bill, you were incredible," Arn Anderson says, to the roars of the crowd. "But you know something Bill, that man who stepped in the ring that night against a great wrestler no doubt in Hugh Morrus, that wrestler would have been destroyed in half a minute flat no ifs, no buts by Chris Benoit last night." Goldberg has a look of confusion on his face, before Anderson quickly raises the microphone once more. "That night, against Hugh Morrus, only fourteen months ago... I said you were something incredible. I remember speaking to Ric Flair about it, and I said Ric... you know, the Four Horsemen, they are the elite. We are the elite. The best of the best from the no nonsense wrasslin of Ole Anderson to the tragically late hero Brian Pillman had their chance in the Four Horsemen because they were the best of the best, and son, that night, that VERY first night I was prepared to take a punt on you, because I knew you were outstanding. But... but... BUT! Even I did NOT think you could get to 175 and zero. And I was amazed at how much you developed, every night, how quickly you developed. Bill, you were a better wrestler ten fold by the very next week when you faced the Barbarian, a ten year veteran who had beaten hard men the world over. And that growth rate exponentiated, till the point where headed into last night against the best pound for pound, technical, all around wrestler in the world, everyone, including I thought you stood a chance. Now.. I can understand your disappointment. I truly can. Because being a great Champion is about being hard on yourself. It's about striving to be the best. But son, last night, you were ... world class. You were outstanding, and the match was on a knife edge the whole way through. Last night, you got something in a column that you don't like, Bill. It's called a one. The number one. It's a curious number, because that number one late last night hung around your neck like a noose. I'm here to tell you something else though, Bill. That one means... NOTHING. Absolutely nothing! You see, professional wrestling is not about statistics. Its not even about how many times you get cut open, how many times you work night in night out with cracked ribs. It's not about any of that. It's about going to the top. It's about becoming a Champion. It's about doing everything that is known to be a great Four Horsemen. Last night, you nearly came away with the dream. Because your dream, Bill, as it is, was and always has been for Chris Benoit, and rightly so, is to become the WCW World Heavyweight Champion! And I'm here to tell you, it doesn't matter if you get there with one loss, two losses, or a thousand losses, I'm here to tell you that you are that DAMN good that you CAN get there. To the top of the sporting world. To Mt Everest. To Nirvana. You have to be special to do it Bill, and to me, despite that niggly little one, you can do it. Here's the thing Bill, when you were 50 and zero, 100 and zero... you were nothing... NOTHING compared to the outstanding wrestler you are, with a one in that column. As far as I'm concerned, Bill, you have merely got the monkey off your back. And as far as I'm concerned, you rival Chris Benoit is the best wrestler in the world today. And that's saying something. What do you think about that?" Goldberg looks to the crowd, who rise as one, and begin chanting his name once more, before slowly raising the microphone to his mouth. "I think...." He drops the microphone, and once more looks to the crowd, who collectively seem to be raising four fingers. "After hearing what you, my mentor thinks... to borrow something from Ric Flair, diamonds are forever... and so is Bill Goldberg! The real question has nothing to do with Bill Goldberg giving it up, the real question is simple. ... ... ... ... ... ... WHOSE NEXT?" He says as he drops the microphone to the ground, and spits into the ground, before going to the turnbuckle and raising his four fingers to the crowd, as we fade to a break. ------------------------------- After the break, backstage, the WCW Tag Team Champion Billy Kidman is seen in his normal white t-shirt, drinking a paper cup of water. Rounding the corner is the valet of Thrillapalooza and kayfabe sister of Jerry Lynn, Ryan Lynn. She is wearing a light blue dress that hugs tight to her body, revealing her audacious curves. She taps Kidman on the shoulder, and he turns around, delighted to see her. Kidman looks around the corner to see if anyone else is there, and then plants a kiss on her, as we go back to ringside for our next match.
'Your Olympic Hero' Kurt Angle v Masahiro Chono Last night Masahiro Chono made one of the few mistakes in his WCW career by attempting to over power Wrath, in his own type of match where power is crucial against all other elements. In this battle of the former WCW Television Champions, Angle and Chono worked a steady pace, and a fairly even bout. Angle was always on the look-out for Chono's Kenka Kick, and Chono was quick to wriggle out of grapples to avoid the Olympic Slam. After several near misses, and several near falls however, Chono was able to land the crippling Kenka Kick to the skull of Angle, and on replay we watched several times the absolutely sickening impact of the move. It was like watching a spring on full release, with his neck snapping unconditionally. Result: Your winner, Masahiro Chon
After the match, as Masahiro Chono celebrated, to the rapturous boos of the crowd, EMT's raced down to ringside, as 'Your Olympic Hero' Kurt Angle, dazed, staring at the stage lights, was clearly not moving. The commentators noted that this was not the first time that Chono had inflicted such damage on a competitor, including Kurt Angle himself. Chono showed no remorse whatsoever, and left the ring unconcerned completely with the status of Angle, who the EMTs continued to work on, to stabilise his neck to carry him out of the ring to seek further medical attention. --------------------------------- Meanwhile, backstage, 'Latino Heat' Eddie Guerrero ran into Chavo Guerrero Jr, his nephew. Guerrero had a smirk on his face, that caused anxiety and anger in the younger Guerrero. "What's your problem, Eddie?" Chavo asked. "Problem esse," he said with a laugh. "Problem? I don't have a problem esse, you're the one with the problem holmes. How does it feel little Chavito? Huh? You're a loser esse, a loser. The one thing you'd done good in your life... gone. All gone." "Oh yeah?" Chavo interrupted. "The titles may be gone Eddie, but why don't you walk down to ringside esse, because it's time I taught you some tough love. Yeah, that's something for me, holmes!" Eddie smiled, and then nodded, and started walking towards the Gorilla Position, as we cut to a break.
Chavo Guerrero Jr v 'Latino Heat' Eddie Guerrero It seemed apparent that Eddie Guerrero loves nothing more than winding his opponents up. Particularly when it's a blood relative, practically a brother by association. All the cynical tricks such as paint brushing, mimicking and hair pulling were on display as Eddie focused on punking out Chavo. Chavo for his part, came back with dazzling drop kicks, at one point hitting Eddie so hard that he stumbled from the middle of the ring over the top rope. This received an enormous face pop for the underdog, who then sped to the top rope and launched an audacious corkscrew plancha onto Eddie on the outside. Both men were down, dazed. As the referee got to a count of 4 on the outside, both men got up, and Eddie then irish whipped Chavo into the unforgiving steel guardrails. He then raced back in with a low drop kick, which crushed Chavo against the guardrails. He then picked Chavo up, and dropped him ... package first, on top of the guardrail. With Chavo in no man's land, Eddie quickly slid into the ring as the referee counted 9..... 10! Chavo had been counted out, and the elder Guerrero had trumped his nephew in a cynical manner. Guerrero pleaded his innocence to the crowd, before smiling cynically at Chavo. Result: Your winner, Eddie Guerrero
Just before we fade to our next break, we zoom in on a door with the name 'Hulk Hogan' on it, Tony Schiavone tells us he will be out next to discuss last night, and right on the moment we split to a break the door knob begins to turn... ------------------------------ After the break, we pan around a staid arena crowd, which soon plunges into anarchy as 'American Made' hits the sound system. Almost nostalgically, the fans pop to their feet, awaiting the multi time World Heavyweight Champion. "Boy, it feels great to hear that again," Tony Schiavone says. "We are priveleged here in Milwaukee, and all around the world, right here, live on the greatest professional wrestling show in the world right here on WCW Monday Nitro, at a touch past nine thirty PM, to be here in this arena awaiting the rebirth of the greatest of them all, Hulk Hogan! And.. And.. HERE HE IS!..." Hulk Hogan steps through the curtain in his trail blazing red and black, and begins waving his hand to his ear, and going from side to side of the entrance ramp, trying to gauge the raucous reception of this crowd. "Wow, listen to that crowd," 'Living Legend 'Larry Zbysko remarks. "After all this time, and after all that's happened, this crowd is going crazy for him," Schiavone comments. "So with that in mind, we're going to sit back with the rest of you at home, and soak it up, ladies and gentlemen, the Icon.. Hulk Hogan!" Hogan begins striding down to the ring, tapping the hands of various members at ringside, before standing on the apron, stopping to take in the enormous crowd reaction, before stepping forward through the ring ropes. Once more he goes from side to side, urging each portion of the crowd to yell as loud as they can, almost playing them off against each other. And like rabid dogs, they are responding to Hogan's bone. Finally, after the music dies down, Hogan tears off his Hulk Still Rules t-shirt, and lifts the microphone to address Monday Nitro, all around the globe. "Well you know something brother, the more things change the more things remain the same," he begins. "As I got on the back of my Harley, and drove up the highway brother towards Milwaukee, and I looked at the chain around my neck I wondered if what I was doing was the right thing. I wondered dude whether helping Ric Flair at World War III was the thing to do." He drops the microphone to listen to the reaction, which is of course, extremely popular. "Well let me tell you something all my Hulkamaniacs, the fact of the matter is, as I said before and I said a thousands times over and over, the more things change the more things that remain the same. You see brothers, we were told of a wrestling revolution. Hulkster, they said, Hulkster, come down to the WCW dude, come down to the WCW brother and be the biggest legend of them all. But brother, as I came down to the WCW, I found out about Sting... I found out about Lex Luger... I found out about Ric Flair, the greatest of them all brothers, and things got very complicated for the Hulkster. So one day, I'm pumping iron in my gym in Venice Beach, when I get a phone call from Diamond Dallas Page, brother. And he says Hulkster, it's not going the way you intended it to is it brother. And for the life of me, I wondered what he was talking about. But the fact of the matter was, up there, up north, I had it all my own way. There was no one there who could defeat me. For you see my Hulkamaniacs, the ones that could like Bret Hart, Randy Savage and the Outsiders were often shielded away from me, for whatever reason. And the more I thought about what Page said, the more it made sense, brother. To join the nWo." This gets a massive heel reception. Hogan shakes his head, before lifting his microphone again. "So there I was, at Daytona Beach, Florida, dudes, dropping the leg drop heard the world over. Because I had had it all my own way. Except, when I came to the WCW. Because standing in my way were guys like Sting... guys like Ric Flair. So I chose to take the short cut, I chose to drop the Harley dudes, I chose to hang with the nWo, I got to believe the myopic view that it was for life, I got to believe you could get anything you wanted ... by cheating. And dudes, I was wrong. Eric Bischoff! Eric Bischoff brother, you're the center of all the cowardice in the world today, dude. You see all my little Hulkamaniacs, earlier this year, I faced my biggest challenge ever. And as I took my vitamins and dropped to my knees to say my prayers, in the state of mind I was in, I knew deep in my heart of hearts that there was no way that Hollywood could defeat .... Bill Goldberg. And so dudes, what happened next threatened to change history forever. Because, Eric Bischoff told me not to worry, forget my prayers, forget the vitamins, because it was all preordained. He told me that we would do what we always did, we would send down about a thousand of the nWo, beat the smack out of Goldberg and I would have a great chance of winning..." The crowd boo, as Hogan shrugs his shoulders. "As the match wore on, and I looked into the face of Bill Goldberg, I saw I was more or less looking into the face of Hulk Hogan, dude. I could see it clearly, there was no fear, no inhibitions, this guy was the greatest performer alive today. And dude, he knew it. And I knew it. And I knew it to be wrong with what Bischoff told me to do. So when it became very apparent that the only way out of losing was to cheat, I decided I would rather be a dignified loser, than a glorified cheat. So I walked out of that arena, vowing never to come back again. And brothers.." Just then, the familiar theme of the boss begins, and 'Easy E' Eric Bischoff himself begins storming towards ringside with a microphone. He looks extremely disturbed with these comments, and shakes his head rapidly with a look of contemptuous deceit on his face, as he slides into the ring, and stands next to Hogan. "You obnoxious son of a [beep]," Bischoff begins, which of course, gets a rousing chorus of boos. "When Hulk Hogan was over, I invited him back. I made you big again, Hulk, and how do you repay me? You pull the dirtiest double cross in the history of professional wrestling, yeah, you heard me, dirtier than that bull [beep] up north. Wh.. Wh.. What do you call that thing anyway? The hanky panky? The Venice Beach Love Tap? The finger poke of doom? Level with me, Hulk, you said you knew what you had to do..." "Brother, I knew what I had to do, dude. Didn't you listen?" "Well, again, what is it you think you're going to do?" "Dude, there's two things. I've already done one of them, brother. The other... that will become apparent very, very soon." "You know, you're not in the official pay roll," Bischoff retorts. "And I don't believe I'm in any mood to add you to it." Hogan smirks, as Also Sparch Zarathrusta begins, and 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair, in a red and white sequined robe walks through the curtain, to the bottom of the ramp. The pyros burst around him, as he twirls, and continues to the ring. Once in the ring, he too lifts a microphone. "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! the crowd replies. "Ya seem to have forgotten something, Bischoff!" Flair says, with an enraged look on his face. "Ya seem to have forgotten who the real king of WCW is, pal. You seem to have forgotten who the dirtiest player in the game is. But last night, I showed you once more who that really is, as I will at Starrcade, pal...." "I still don't get it," Bischoff says. "Hogan, you need to understand something very clearly, you are not getting paid here, and I know you're all about the money." "Ya don't get it, do you?" Flair continues, with a smile on his face now. Bischoff begins to look concerned. Flair then pulls out a piece of paper from inside his red and white sequined robe. "Pal, do you know how long I've been doing this for?" Flair says. "Do you know how long I've been the dirtiest player in the game? You could say over the years I've built up a pretty penny from this business. You see, Bischoff, you remember when we went to Orlando from the set of WCW Saturday Night to see a certain.... Hulk Hogan? And you wanted ME to make the introductions? You thought you'd overriden me, you thought you'd used me. But you should never forget, this leopard never changes his spots pal, I'm still the dirtiest player in the game... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" "Wh.. What's that?" Bischoff asks, pointing at the piece of paper. "Ya see, it's very simple, Eric. One Hulk Hogan had a contract remaining with World Championship Wrestling for another three months. I simply told Hulk that ... that perhaps, maybe, possibly, you wouldn't want to resign it after what happened in the Goldberg match. And... pal, he agreed. So I went to the other man who could authorise a contract extension, one Arn Anderson. Ya see pal, my inside source within the nWo..." "What the.. Who the hell is that?" Bischoff asks, seething. "Never you mind, pal... My inside source told me of who you were planning to bring in. And when I put two and two together, I got on the phone to Hulk and made things official. So Hulk, here you are, Arn countersigned it last night..." Hogan takes the piece of paper, and shakes the hand of Ric Flair. Bischoff can't believe it, as Hogan raises the microphone once more. "WHATCHA GONNA DO... Eric Bischoff! WHATCHA GONNA DO! WHEN HULKAMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOU!" "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Diamonds are forever Eric, and so is Ric Flair, the dirtiest player in the game... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Bischoff goes to throw a punch at Flair from behind, but Hogan catches his arm, and then drills him with a hard right clothesline, sending Bischoff over the top rope much to the enjoyment of this capacity crowd. Hogan begins to play the 'ear' card to the crowd, while Flair struts, as we cut to a break. ---------------------------------- Backstage, as 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion enters the arena, to a loud round of boos, and he turns a corner, he accidentally bumps into 'The Chairman of WCW' La Parka, who does not move, instead standing with his steel chair in his hand. "What the hell do you want Piniata boy?" Jericho asks. "What do you think this? Martguerita Hour? This is MY show.. Monday Night Jericho!" La Parka still stands there, with his fabled chair in his hand. "Please... Seniore... Holmes... Lucha Lucha Go Now?" La Parka finally stands aside, but not before saying "Espero que usted sea destruido por seniore Benoit.." Jericho stops in his tracks, and turns to confront La Parka. "What the hell did you just say?" He asks, but he gets no response. "Seriously, what the hell did you just say? You just... seniore... This is the United States, we speak English here. Do you comprehende?" The crowd starts to roar in the arena though, for what 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho can't see is now standing behind him is WCW United States Champion 'Rabid Wolverine' Chris Benoit. Finally, Jericho senses trouble, and turns around. "That belt, becomes mine, at Starrcade, Chris," Benoit stoically says. "Missing something Chris?" Jericho says as he looks at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship that is slumped over his shoulder. "No, pal, I mean inside your mouth. I don't know whether to laugh at ya or kick a field goal between your teeth, man. You're not fit to be a Champion. You're not fit to be a King. Because I am the King. I am the Ayatollah of Rock n Rollllaaa, I am your paragon of go.." "Save it Jericho," Benoit interrupts. "Save your whining, save your whinging, because you're going to need all the energy you can get to try and somehow... somehow... SOMEHOW... find a way out of the Crippler Crossface." Jericho looks anxious, as Benoit smiles, and pats the Champion on the should condescendingly before walking off. And they weren't really troubled here, and how could you be when your opponents are more looking for inside cradles and are not really doing it with the intent of screwing you for a win, if you get my drift. After a few comic spots from WHB, and some passionate defence of one another and their feelings, Perry Saturn was able to execute Lenny with the Rings of Saturn for a submission win. Result: Your winners, the Extreme Innovators
"What a good win this has been for the Extreme Innov... Wait a second," Tony Schiavone says. "I've ... Ok, to the back we must go..." "What's going on?" 'Living Legend' Larry Zbysko asks. "I thought we would recap the match? Oh.. MY! I guess not!" For out the back, outside the Production Truck, a wild brawl has broke out between former allies 'Big Sexy' Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Last night of course Scott Hall broke away from his Outsider ally and turfed him over the top rope in a selfish bid for a Blaze of Glory which nearly came off. And it seems Nash has taken exception to this, though, it's fair to say the tension between these two has been building for some time. BANG! Hall just whipped Nash into the door of the production truck. Before Hall can do anymore damage though, Doug Dillenger and the Fun Police arrive to break up the scene.
Scott Steiner v 'The Human Suplex Machine' Taz Last night, after dominating the Battle Royal, Taz left the match of his own accord to destroy Rick Steiner up the aisles and into the back area, taunting Scott Steiner to follow him out to save his brother. However, Scott refused, blinded by the glory that was potentially in front of him. Tonight, Scott looked for payback, and initially he was able to display his excellent amateur mat wrestling background to grind down the nuggety Brooklyn brawler. Taz though started to find back with vicious elbows out of a sleeper hold from Steiner, and then raked Steiner's eyes with major velocity. The commentators wondered whether Taz had done any permanent damage to Steiner's eyes. Steiner, wildly swung a haymaker, ... and connected! He tried to cover, but Taz pushed him off. Steiner then somehow hit a patented T-Bone Suplex, but with his vision lacking, Taz was able to immediately resume control and use the corners as a demolition pit to beat on Steiner some more, before dropping him down with the Tazmission for the victory. Steiner was defiant, but things just did not go his way tonight. Result: Your winner, Taz
After the break, Billy Kidman's theme music hits, and Thrillapalooza, Jerry Lynn and Billy Kidman, the WCW Tag Team Champions from last night's Pay-Per-View broadcast at World War III are escorted to the ring by the vuluptuous Ryan Lynn. Once at ringside, she opens the middle and top rope for her client, bending over, almost giving Tony Schiavone a heart attack at how devilish Ryan really is. Once in the ring, the two men go to opposite corners, stand on the top turnbuckle, and then float back into the ring with an acrobatic move, both landing on their feet. Harlem Heat, their challengers are already at ringside, and are not waiting for the show-offs to show off any longer.
WCW Tag Team Championships Thrillapalooza (Billy Kidman and Jerry Lynn) (c) v Harlem Heat An entertaining match which got the crowd hot with heel chorus' of boos, due to the quick start Harlem Heat took to the duo of Thrillapalooza. This quick start caught Thrillapalooza off guard, and it took them some time to get back into the bout. It was only after a hot tag from Kidman to Jerry Lynn, and a series of hot clotheslines that got Thrillapalooza back into it, and the crowd into a frenzy. From there, Thrillapalooza went for a lot of high risk moves which were countered with excellent tag team moves from Harlem Heat who tried to slow down the pace of the match. But it just would not happen for the veterans in the way they desired, and despite several close falls which frustrated them, Stevie Ray caught a spiking hurricanrana from Jerry Lynn, allowing the legal man Billy Kidman to hit the Shooting Star Press for a good win. Result: Your winners, and STILL WCW Tag Team Champions, Thrillapalooza
We see Bret 'the Hitman' Hart walking backstage, and are told emphatically by Tony Schiavone that after the break, the World War III winner will be in one on one action against Buff 'The Stuff' Bagwell.
Bret 'The Hitman' Hart v Buff 'The Stuff' Bagwell Bret Hart really controlled this match from the outset, and despite the attention of Buff Bagwell himself now becoming an experienced campaigner, he was too loose to really stop the momentum flow of Hart who methodically controlled Bagwell and moved him into the Sharpshooter for the victory. Result: Your winner, Bret Hart
After the match, Buff 'The Stuff' Bagwell rolls to the outside, and gamely, starts to limp to the back with the assistance of a medical assistant. Meanwhile, Bret 'The Hitman' Hart, victorious again, has his arm held aloft as a familiar face, 'Mean' Gene Okerlund, who suffered such a heinous attack only a couple of months prior from the Outsiders, storms to the ring, microphone in hand to interview the victor from World War III. Okerlund himself seems to have quite a following, as several members of the audience are on their feet applauding him for the tenacity to come back. "Bret The Hitman Hart, last night you defied fifty nine other men in what can only be described as an epic showing, granting you an unabated shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in the Four Shades of Hell spectacular," Okerlund commences. "Ever since you've come to World Championship Wrestling, you've had an enormous following amongst these fans, and it continues here tonight in Milwaukee," Okerlund says, waiting for the following cheap pop, "So I have to ask you what your feelings are following on from that great achievement last night." Hart smiles, and looks like he's pondering his thoughts, before he leans forward over the microphone. "You know Mean Gene, when I came here to the WCW, I didn't know what to expect. I knew that, for wont of a better word, I was an Outsider. I was an outcast. But it's fans like these people here tonight and right around the world that has reassured me a lot about my life in general," he says, as the crowd again grabs hold of the cheap pop comment. "If you had have asked me eighteen months ago if I would be standing here in the middle of this ring on WCW Monday Nitro, having just won World War III, I would have told you you were nuts. I thought everything was okay up north, sure, there was one or two who acted like spoilt four year old brats, but that's ok I broke their hearts if you will. I thought I was on a guaranteed contract, and I knew in my heart that I was loyal. You see, that's something you get from a childhood upbringing like mine, that honesty, loyalty, dignity, it all goes a very long way. And I'm glad to say, here in the WCW that I have been able to reconnect with the thought that that dream is very real. Up there, it sure didn't feel that way. You could say I felt screwed, and you could say that I felt there was a lot of things in my own state of mind that said to me that wrestling was becoming as corrupt as political associations. But these past few months, here in the WCW, with these great fans everything has shown me the light is all clear. And as I stand here tonight Mean Gene, what last night meant to me is very simple. It says to all those fans out there and all the young men in the back who dream of being something, of becoming someone, of achieving all the goals possible, of climbing Mt Everest of achieving Nirvana, that it's all possible. I'm living proof of it. It proved to me last night that you win by being the Excellence of Execution." "You must have found it very fitting to see Scott Hall, a long time nemesis of yours, eliminate Kevin Nash, another long time nemesis. I can assure you Bret, from my own view point, having been the victim of those two Outsiders that what happened last night and the tension it caused earlier tonight that to me it was a very satisfying feeling." "Oh, it was very satisfying, Mean Gene. You are right, that when I came to the WCW the one thing I could not stand was the way the nWo carried on. And frankly Mean Gene, it seemed to me that no real unity surrounded the WCW to defend itself against their claims. You even had the Four Horsemen out of commission, and as far as I'm concerned, no matter the personal issues I have had in the past with Ric Flair, I'm damn glad he won last night and I'm glad that Chris Benoit, the greatest talent on the face of the planet, a Canadian to boot, will face Chris Jericho with a chance of ending this for once and for all. You know though Mean Gene, the only way it would have been more satisfying is if I had been able to eliminate the one factor that I think has crippled the WCW more than even the Outsiders. One force that people have wrongly put all their eggs into the basket to support. One person who claims to be acting opposite to the cause of the Outsiders and the New World Order, but when you cut through the face paint and the baseball bat you are nothing more than one of 'em. And I speak of Sting. Sting, I am going to make thing one thing very clear. I'm not through with you, and ... to bate you into fighting me one last time at Starrcade, I'm prepared to put up my guaranteed contract for the match at Four Shades of Hell. There's still so many fans out there who for one reason or another think we're very similar. The truth is, we're very similar wrestlers once inside the ring, but that's where the comparison ends, and I'm sick of thinking you're anything like me. Sting, if you've got the guts, if you've got the courage, you know where to find me. You just need to follow the Pony Express with the letter attentioned to the Best There Is, the Best There Was, and The Best There Ever Will Be, because that's where you'll find me. That's the challenge Sting, I'll be awaiting your answer!" Hart shakes the hand of 'Mean' Gene Okerlund, who looks gobsmacked, still wanting to asking a few more questions, as the World War III winner leaves the ring.
WCW Television Championship Raven (c) v 'Total Package' Lex Luger Raven got an enormous reception, but Luger came with his version of the crippling elbow smashes, and seemed to be catching Raven somewhat off guard. But Luger made a fundamental mistake. Never ever take Raven out of the ring, and into his own lair. Raven controlled it with some tough irish whips, sending the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion into the unforgiving steel steps. Luger did get on one more hot streak though, and started signalling for the Torture Rack. Raven ran out of the corner but found a lariat from Luger. Raven got up groggy, and was launched into the Torture Rack, but Raven would not quite go up, and held his boots around the waist of Luger. Luger tried to get Raven up, but when he did, all Raven did was grab him by the head and plant him with a very innovative Evenflow...1...2...3! The Champion retains here! Result: Your winner, and STILL WCW Television Champion, Raven
After retaining his Championship, Raven holds the belt aloft and goes to ringside to celebrate with some fans. Before we fade out though, we cut back to the nWo dressing room. 'Lionheart' Chris Jericho, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion stands up, and begins to address his colleagues, sans the Outsiders. "The only way to win this is through conviction, for this fight is not over, and not the Horsemen, not Hogan, shall weary us. Let's fight back, .... ... nWo style."

Could see Luger jumping Raven like that since he has done that so many times before. Raven promo was good. Kind of weird hearing him say proud to be in Milwaukee but its your crazy world. I'm just reading it. :p Liked the Horsemen bit and Hart. I am always amazed how well you do your promos. You keep enough of the pulse of the charactor while adding your own personal twist. So needless to say keep up the great work.

Another fantastic show mate, but one bit stood out. The Goldberg - Arn Anderson segment. Brilliant stuff. Truly brilliant. I wish real wrestling companies would do more stuff like that. Rather than just have people in matches they need to build up their character. Having Goldberg talk in the way he did, with the stuff Arn said back, it makes Goldberg more of a character that fans can relate with and get behind, and it means that Benoit has the rub of ending the streak without Goldberg losing any heat. Brilliant stuff. Also really enjoyed the way you're handling Hogan after the "Reverse Fingerpoke of Doom", his explanation was great and you are using him perfectly, and the segment with Flair and Bischoff was fantastic, a really entertaining bit of writing. Also, really enjoyed the Chono thingy. I like this character you are giving him, his sadistic, vicious, hard hitting guy who just doesn't give a crap. Good stuff there. And finally, Bret's promo was great, and a great way to set up a Starrcade match with Sting. It really does look like being the biggest show of the year for you, and that says something.
