WWF 1991 The Ripple Effect

Recommended Posts

Not much of a back story here just a little “rewriting history”. What if Hulk Hogan’s “mega push” ended in the early 90’s. What if the 90’s were headlined by someone else Bret Hart, or The Undertaker, maybe even The Big Boss Man. Would Hogan still be the politician he is today, would stardom have the same effect on some of these other superstars? Well the only way to find out is trial and error. I have begun a game using D16NJD16’s 1991 Mod. I didn’t really take a liking to wrestling until about 3 years later, so if I “misuse” some of your favorite superstars please forgive me. The mod itself looks great, the only issue I have is that the WWF starts off with 4 televised events, of which 3 of them are “B” shows and 2 only run for 30 minutes. I will be giving quick results with these shows as they won’t focus on any storylines. Let me know which “mediocre” star you would like to see pushed, who knows maybe your wish will come true. On a side note I edited the data just a bit and took out all the extra “B” shows WWF has. Right now my main show is WWF Primetime on Wed. and my “B” show is WWF Superstars on Sat.

Day 1: My first day at the office consisted of Vince telling me what he expected of me. The two goals went hand in hand. At the end of 2 years the WWF must be more popular in America as well as still be consider number 1 in the world. The next two set of goals had to do with The Undertaker. He said he had big plans for The Undertaker and because of that he wanted to ensure I use him correctly. Therefore, his popularity must be kept over a C+ in America as well as having momentum above B- for the next year and a half. The last 2 goals were more like restrictions. Vince wanted me to not hire anyone who was labeled a “Psychopath” or anyone labeled a Luchador. I may have to stray into the grey area on this a bit, but the importance is only average so it won’t get me fired…I hope.

Live from Baltimore, MD Attendance: 15,000 (Sold Out) The camera pans around the sold out arena as Vince McMahon welcomes everyone to the event. As the camera focus’ on the ring we see there’s already a wrestler standing in the ring. His name quickly pops up on the bottom of the screen letting us all know it’s some jobber named Duane Gill. Next the fans explode as The Big Boss Man’s music hits and out comes the prison guard. Big Boss Man Vs Duane Gill
Just a quick squash match to get the fans in the mood here. I may bring in some new jobbers in the following weeks, bringing in young guys with talent. Oh yeah and Boss Man won in under three minutes.
Big Bossman defeated Duane Gill in 2:47 by pinfall with a Bubba Slam. Rating: D- After the match the camera pans backstage where Davey Boy Smith is walking around. Suddenly the lights begin to flicker everywhere he goes. Then if that wasn’t spooky enough the light bulbs actually start to explode. Smith stands his ground looking for a fight but there’s no one there. Jim Powers
Again Valentine was the only person to be introduced in this one. Powers however did get some offense although limited he didn’t do to bad. Of course he still put Valentine over, but he may not job his entire career.
Greg Valentine defeated Jim Powers in 7:21 by submission with a Figure Four Leglock. The Bushwhackers
Everyone loves The Bushwhackers and everyone loves to hate The Nasty Boyz. This was the first back and forth match of the day. It was nothing more than a huge brawl between this four men and in the end we got to see one of the nastiest moves of all time.
The Nasty Boyz defeated The Bushwhackers in 12:33 when Jerry Saggs defeated Bushwhacker Luke by submission with a Pit Stop. Rating: C- After the match we go backstage where Savage is being interviewed by Gene Okerlund. He says that while he respects everything The Warrior has done this is all business. No one is better than The Macho Man ooohhhh yyyyeeeaahhh. I think he may have also said something about a Slim Jim. Earthquake W/ Jimmy Hart
Savage got a huge pop that nearly brought the house down. During the match Savage used a lot of high risk moves to stay away from the much bigger Earthquake. Jimmy stayed on the outside on this one yelling at savage through his megaphone.
Randy Savage defeated Earthquake in 11:31 by pinfall with a Macho Elbow. Rating: B We then go backstage where Gene is talking to Hogan. He says that The Ultimate Warrior may be an icon but he isn’t immortal. He goes on to say he’s been taking his vitamins and come next week he will be the number one contender. Rating: A* Hulk Hogan Vs. Sgt Slaughter
The reaction to Hogan was ridiculous, I thought I was going to go deaf. Slaughter has come across as a great heel in the past months and tonight was not much different. Slaughter would get the early advantage using illegal chokes on Hogan. Every time Hogan would start to make a comeback Slaughter would low blow him and stay on the offensive. That is until Hogan “Hulked Up” and nothing Slaughter could do was effective.
Hulk Hogan defeated Sgt. Slaughter in 11:33 by pinfall with a Big Boot and Leg Drop. Rating: B Final Rating: B- Final Notes: It seems my lack of “hot storylines” hurt me a little bit. I don’t expect that to be an issue in the coming weeks. The grade is a low one, but I’m still feeling the era out, so we shall see what happens. Alright so let me know what you think of my first card. Obviously the predicting is easy, but hey it was like that in the early 90's. I still value everyone opinions and suggestions.

I'd like to see you pushing some of the notorious a**hole of the business that in the early '90s was in their prime, such as Scott Hall, Marcus Bagwell and Bryan Clarke. God only knows how much achievements these ones could get if there weren't for their unprofessional behaviors (although Hall got a good career anyway)...
So which venue are you going to run for Wrestlemania, The LA Colliseum, or the LA Sports Arena
Haven't really thought about it. Maybe I'll make it a point to only have WM at MSG. Afterall that's where it all began and you have to have loyalties right ;)
I'm always hooked when you start a WWF Diary :D
Hmmm is that because I'm super awesome at writing WWF diaries or because you just love to read about how badly I can screw up Vince? :p Just kiddin thanks for reading.
Martel and the Snake better not have bad ingame chemistry.....i love 'em both and they were great together in their fued
Nope their chemistry is fine. Terry Gibbs
I expected this match to be a little better than what it was. Douglas didn’t seem to be on his game tonight, and the crowd turned on this match pretty quickly.
Shane Douglas defeated Terry Gibbs in 5:23 by pinfall with a Franchiser. Rating: E+ The Barbarian Vs. Tony Roy
Another match that the fans didn’t really care about. Not a lot is known right now about The Barbarian except he’s scary as hell and dominated this match.
The Barbarian defeated Tony Roy in 4:36 by submission with a Tongan Death Grip. Rating: A Dusty Rhodes Vs. The Million Dollar Man w/ Virgil These two have been going back and forth for awhile now because DiBiase stole Dusty’s manager. This was a pretty good back and forth match that was heads and shoulders better than the previous two. Million Dollar Man defeated Dusty Rhodes in 11:11 by submission with a Million Dollar Dream. Rating: C+ After the match DiBiase and Virgil continued to assault the unconscious Rhodes until Dustin raced down the ramp and cleared the ring of his father’s assailants. Rating: C Jake Roberts Vs. Rick “The Model” Martel Jake came to the ring with his burlap sack and kept it safely at ringside. The Model came down spraying himself with that God awful perfume and played the perfect heel. These two went two to two for the better part of 11 minutes until Jake got the advantage and never looked back. Jake Roberts defeated Rick 'The Model' Martel in 11:50 by pinfall with a DDT. Rating: B- After the match Jake went to the corner and grabbed his sack. He then opened it up and a 7 foot python crawled out onto the chest and abs of Rick Martel. Martel turned ghost white and screamed like a 7 year old girl before finally hightailing it out of there. Rating: B Final Rating: C+ TV Rating: .28 Notes: Not a bad Superstars match. I’m starting to see how WWF needs to be booked so let’s hope we get some better ratings next week.
