Mainstream Hernandez vs Enygma Hernandez certainly seems like a future star, but he's got a LONG career ahead of him, and you don't like overpushes. Enygma gets this without too much trouble. Kurt Laramee vs Art Reed Literally flipped a coin. This is tougher to predict then it looks, Laramee's known not to have much in store at this point, and while Reed hasn't been pushed too hard, the efforts certainly still there to get him out there. Now that I think about it, storyline-wise, Reed getting a minor upset actually makes sense, proving how under-rated he was on Supreme. Bart Biggz vs Rocky Golden I know it's unlikely, but I'd like to see Biggz win this. It seriously sends him up a notch on his quest to regain his fame, and this would be another example of Golden not being able to live up to his hype. Probably won't happen, but I think it'd work pretty well. El Leon vs Brandon James vs Erik Strong Three Way Sqaush, eh..innovative. :p High Concept vs The Watchmen Interesting mix of styles on this one, which The Watchmen will almost certainly win. Good choice on this, if it's bad chemistry, Morgan and Holmes's performance skills should keep it from dropping too much. Paul Huntingdon vs Pistol Pete Hall Probably easist to pick here. Troy Tornado vs Bloodstone vs Christian Faith for the SWF Supreme Championship Interesting match-up, but honestly, I can't see Faith's title reign going much less than eight months or so, so I'm going to be picking him for a while. I see Faith being injured mid-match, and Tornado/Bloodstone going at it alone for a few minutes, before Faith makes his comeback to retain.

Almost missed the predictions for these.... Mainstream Hernandez vs Enygma I agree with Zee-1's assessment in the fact that Hernandez has the potential to be a future star, but right now you aren't go to push him over an established (if at this moment in time kind of directionless) talent in Engyma. Kurt Laramee vs Art Reed Again Zee-1's reasonings make sense, I like the idea of Reed causing the mild upset. Bart Biggz vs Rocky Golden Kind of match Rocky Golden can actually win, and will brag about like he's beaten someone significant. El Leon vs Brandon James vs Erik Strong Why squash just one flippity floppity guy, when you can squash two High Concept vs The Watchmen High Concept's sky club Tag straps don't appear to be on the line here, so The Watchmen get a momentum building win to help cement them as a serious threat. Paul Huntingdon vs Pistol Pete Hall Squash Troy Tornado vs Bloodstone vs Christian Faith Possibly the toughest test yet for Faith, but he'll come through it. They'll be some tension played up between him and Tornado, but ultimately there growing alliance will grow stronger not weaker by the end of the match, as Tyler's plans back-fire.

Instead, it starts in an office where Eric Tyler and Emma Chase are in his office. They are obviously in the process of discussing something. Tyler explains that he was told to make them pay for it. Chase questions if it will be tonight, and the General Manager simply shrugs. The duo are interrupted by a knock on the door. Tyler looks annoyed as he tells the person to come in. The interruption proves to be a generic SWF employee. After apologizing the employee explains that High Concept are lost. Tyler demands an explanation. The employee replies that they aren't actually lost, but they aren't in the arena. And they won't be there in time for their match tonight. Again, the GM demands further explanation. With reluctance, the employee says that he just got ahold of Bling on his cell phone and they are on a bus... two states away... There is a painful silence as Eric Tyler seethes. He slowly explains that they are scheduled to wrestle tonight, so why would they possibly be on a bus two states away? The employee stammers through an explanation that the SWF Sky Club Division Tag Team champions recently decided that it would faster to travel around the country by bus rather than flying, as they tend to get lost at airports and miss their flights. Chase and Tyler look at each other in horrified amusement at this twisted logic. Tyler then confirms that the last show that Benson and Bling were at was halfway across the country, which the employee confirms is correct. He then asks if that High Concept thought it would be faster to take the bus rather than face a delay of a couple of hours if they did miss their flight and this is confirmed as correct. With a pointed finger, the GM of the Legends brand orders the employee out of his temporary office. As Tyler and Chase begin to discuss options to replace the tag champions on the card, there is another light knock at the door. This time, its a pretty but unfamiliar brunette in some goth makeup. Raven After identifying herself as Raven, the young woman says that she heard about issue with High Concept and she has a solution to offer. Encouraged to provide it by Tyler, Raven says that she has manages a tag team duo who just got in from Japan who were hoping to catch on with the Supreme Wrestling Federation. They call themselves the Lords of Pure. Although Chase and Tyler exchange a dubious glance, the GM says that he'll give them a chance tonight. If they do well, he will offer them a contract. After Raven leaves, Emma comments that she is surprised that Bling has a cell phone and could figure out how to work it... Grade: B+
Peter Michaels: A new tag team! Enygma doesn't even need interference fro his manager Grandmaster Bling. The highlight of the match is probably pretty Katie Cameron bouncing around on the outside and encouraging Hernandez, though it doesn't hep him much in the match. The youngster ends up submitting to the Enygma Variation. Then the Grandmaster grabs a microphone. He tells the crowd that the masked wonder Enygma is on his way up, scaling the slippery slopes of the mountain of greatness in the Supreme Wrestling Federation. A mountain that Enygma has climbed before. The Grandmaster then says Enygma isn't the only one no the up slope. Because the Grandmaster is back. And he's building a brand new Phunking Empire for all the fans. From sea to shining sea, the entire phunking nation will be united as one great Phunking Empire. And at the fan's request, the Grandmaster will be representing the Phunking Empire and the Legends brand next week on Supreme TV. Ana reminds Ms. Silver that she told everyone last week, after accusations from Emma Chase, that she would produce her vaunted Silverback. Silver confirms that this is correct, but states that it is “Silverbacks” - plural, not singular. However, tonight she will introduce the fans and Emma Chase to only one of them. Tonight will just be the first taste. So without any further delay, Silver introduces... He smirks at the camera but says nothing. Silver hypes her client, saying that he is a wrestling machine. That the Supreme Wrestling Federation has rarely seen someone of his skills and abilities. But as good as Mr. Hill is, Silver says that he isn't here to worry about winning championship gold. He has other goals in mind, which will be made clear in time. Reed goes after Laramee from the opening bell, pushing the pace and keep the King of the Streets on his heels. Laremee lets his frustration show through more than once, especially as his attempts to draw Reed into a brawl keep being thwarted. There is a good pop when Reed nails his Hang Time Moonsault with precision, but the crowd is fairly dead when Laramee submits to the Dread Lock camel clutch variation. Reed celebrates as Laramee rolls out of the ring looking upset. He refuses any console from his manager RC Dodger. The incensed wrestler looks to be making for his dressing room. He comes upon a group of people. Its Steve Frehley and Ray Diaz, conversing with Sara Silver, Mr. Jackson, and Mr. Hill. The group is in a fairly casual discussion, but they are blocking the narrow hallway. Frehley happens to be the one directy in front of Laramee. In a less than polite manner, he demands that Frehley get the hell out of his way. Rather than react, Frehley casually asks if Laramee lost another one. In a breath, the situation has escalated into a brawl. Everyone takes a step back as Frehley and Laramee exchange punches. Its obvious pretty quickly that The Dark Destroyer is getting the better of it. When Laramee goes for a low blow that is blocked, Frehley gets serious. He throws a series of forearms shots to Laramee's head and nearly drops him, then throws him hard into the concrete wall. Laramee puts his left arm up before he crashes into the wall. Laramee slumps to the floor, holding his left forearm, obviously in pain. The fight stops. Frehley stands there, seeming unsure of what to do. RC Dodger comes running up, calling for medical help. In the background, Sara Silver and her Silverback watch with bemused smiles. Grade: A
Duane Fry: That looked like it could be a serious injury... The 215-pound Biggz actually manages to get the 285-pound Golden off his feet, which earns a bit pop from the crowd. But The Golden Boy is just too big and strong for Biggz. He ends up taking control of the match and battering the four-time tag team champion around before forcing him to submit to The Rack. Its a solid win for Golden, who doesn't even need to cheat much to earn it. Eisen sneers a bit before he begins to talk. He starts by saying that he's tired of everyone attributing the success he's had in the SWF to his last name. As if he has not accomplished anything on his one. So from this point on, he's not going to accept being called “The Chosen One” anymore. Instead, he's just going to be “Double E” Eric Eisen. Eisen then says that he is sorely disappointed by the way that so many on the Legends brand seem unconcerned about the welfare of the promotion as a whole. He says it is sickening how selfish they all are. But Double E and Ruanway Train aren't selfish. They are still committed to ensuring the welfare of the Supreme Wrestling Federation. Still committed to the Supreme Protectorate. And they are still recruiting. Looking for talented, loyal, and dedicated wrestlers who are willing to sacrifice for the good of the promotion that gives them so much. Lastly, Double E says that Phil Vibert will be made to pay for the hurtful and untrue accusations that he made about his father, Richard Eisen. Vibert's will be made to pay. The SWF Supreme Championship belt is sitting on the bench. Faith seems to be talking to someone in the corner of the locker room who cannot be seen by the camera. There is a knock on the door, and Troy Tornado walks in. The duo greet each other amicably, with Tornado giving a nod to whoever can't be seen in the far corner of the room. Tornado apologizes. The champion laughs, asking what he's apologizing for. The response is their match tonight. Tornado says that he would have preferred Tyler not to have made the match, but Tornado can't afford to waste a shot at the title. So he's taking it serious. The veteran explains that he wouldn't expect anything else. That a true champion demands the best out everyone he faces, even if those opponents are friends. So if Tyler was hoping to create some problem between him and Tornado, it isn't going to work. The Human Storm seems relieved. He thanks Faith and says he will see him in a bit. They look a touch goofy, with matching singlets and headbands, plus both have shaggy hair. In the ring, their puro-influence becomes clear very quickly. They attack Holmes and Morgan vigorously, with Perez using some nasty looking kicks and Pathlow combining a series of suplexes and backdrops with some aerial attacks. The newcomers look very good in the match, but The Watchmen are no pushovers. Holmes looks particularly dangerous. The crowd never really buys into the match, either upset at the bait-and-switch of not getting High Concept or simply being unsure of the newcomers. It makes for a quiet match but it doesn't take away from the intensity. Holmes is plenty willing to trade stiff strikes. He gets the pinfall on Perez after a Cyclone Shock Kick. Bloodstone doesn't even wait for the bell as he goes after Faith, but the champion batters the challenger away. Tornado is still making his way down to the ring as Faith and Bloodstone are already engaged in battle. The match is a clash of styles that just somehow works. The pace and style of the match changes, depending on who is controlling the action, but it somehow works fairly seamlessly. Bloodstone seems a bit conflicted, wanting to punish his former stable-mate but also dedicated to working over Faith... he manages to do both pretty effectively. Bloodstone ends up cracking Faith with a chair shot outside the ring as Tornado accidentally has the ref distracted, and the champion ends up bleeding from it. He keeps battling, however. There is a great sequence in the middle of the match where Faith is outside the ring after being knocked off the top rope, and he's basically forgotten as Tornado and Bloodstone go through an entertaining and fast-paced series of holds and counters. They trade suplexes and then end up brawling. While Faith is trying to get back into the ring, Rocky Golden, Texas Pete, and Kristen Pearce make through down to ringside. Though they don't interfere yet, Golden tries to intimidate the bleeding champion... as if that's going to work. Faith gets back into the ring to get Tornado out of the Bloodstone Mutilation as he looked ready to tap. A short time later, Tornado ends up on the outside and he gets worked over by Golden and Pete while Bloodstone keeps the ref's attention. Tornado is left in a heap. Bloodstone manages to get the champion in his Bloodstone Mutilation, but the bloodied Faith refuses to give in. He fights his way to the ropes, the crowd urging him on the entire way. The champion battles back, putting Bloodstone down with Machine Gun Faith Hammers. He puts the challenger down with a Stalling Atomic Drop, then goes for his Leap of Faith. He misses, as Pearce and Pete pulled Bloodstone out of the ring. From the opposite side of the ring, Golden slides in and attacks Faith from behind. The ref calls for the bell to end the match. He drops The Golden Boy with a series of forearm smashes and elbows. Faith get a monstrous pop from the crowd as he grabs his attacker and locks in his rarely-used Test of Faith sleeper hold. Bloodstone gets back into the ring and delivers several kicks to the back of the champion, forcing him to let go of the sleeper hold. Then Pete gets into the ring and three men start attacking Faith all together. The crowd reacts extra-strong when they see who it is – not just Chris Caufield, but another Chris as well. Morrisette is there to help his friend. They hit the ring like a hurricane and clean it out quickly. The Golden Faction isn't willing to do further battle as they clear out. Just like last week, the show fades out on Golden and Faith engaged in a long stare down with Faith standing in the ring with his belt and Golden standing halfway up the ramp, with an angry glare on his face. Some thoughts... -woohoo! A* TV show! Can't say I expected that, especially when I was running through it and saw the two D+ matches and the C- debut from Lords of Pure. It was one of the few things I had yet to manage in this game. I have had A* pay per views, A* singles matches, and now an A* TV show. I suppose if I manage an A* tag team match, I'll have done done it all. This diary will be able to die happy... though hopefully not for awhile yet... -ironic that I got an A* on this show, as I made some sloppy booking mistakes. Nothing major, but they are still mistakes. The weak opening match. The Lords of Pure debuting so late on the card. I keep intended to move the Legends show towards fewer matches and fewer angles, with longer matches so as to be more competitive... but I managed to do the opposite here. Several pseudo or outright squash matches. Yet it works. Ah well... -it feels weird to be making new debuts when I've been trying to scale back. But the Silverback's thing is something I've been planning for awhile and they are going to play a unique role. I've had Brent Hill signed for awhile - since the end of July actually. Just needed to wait for the right time debut him. As for the Lords of Pure, I had signed Pathlow (aka Hell Monkey) awhile ago but Perez was on tour so unsignable for about two months. Thought about abandoning the idea and releasing them, but I just like the idea too much. Plus, the Sky Club tag division needs some talent.

Hmmm, who could the other Silverback possibly be... ;) By any chance, did stealing Hill vacate TCW's tag belts? Congrats on the A* show, by the way. Didn't do too bad with my first predictions. I didn't take into account the massive size differance in Golden/Biggz..if I knew it was a 70 pound differance, I probably wouldn't have picked that way. Ah, well, still have high hopes for Biggz.
Man, TCW must be hurting.
Tee-Cee-Dub is surviving. They are still at Cult, but still the #2 promotion in the world. Their Prestige has gone from D+ to C- since they got back on TV. The episode of Total Wrestling that took place on the same day as Legends got a solid B+, on the back of an A match between Tommy Cornell and Sam Keith. But the other episodes prior to that ranged from B- to C. They had main events featuring the likes of Genghis Rahn, Wolf Hawkins, and so on. I was a bit concerned that they would put on constant B+ shows by featuring Tommy Cornell in every main event, but not so far. The thing that TCW has done very poorly thus far is building new stars. Their main event scene right now is Tommy Cornell, Wolf Hawkins, RDJ, Genghis Rahn, Sam Keith, and Joey Minnesota. No one has moved up more than one grade in popularity (C+ to B- for example). The likes of Rick Law, Sammy Bach, and John Anderson are still just upper midcarders. Eddie Peak has been out injured for a long while now, but he was still only a C popularity when he got hurt. TCW isn't suffering financially too badly, which is what annoys me. As much as I like Total normally, I made sinking them one of my main goals in this game. And they aren't even close to that. I really want to buy them out and turn them into a development territory... is that so wrong? I've said it once or twice, but the workers I've signed away from them have hurt but helped at the same time. Obviously the likes of Brent Hill and The New Wave are not easily replaced, others are. In terms of in-ring ability, workers like Golden, Tana, and Pete can be replaced. They can be replaced by much cheaper workers who are of similar ability, though they lack the same overness. So while it hurts in one manner, it helps them in another. I should've bene more careful and left them the likes of Pete and Tana. Ah well...

Taking Hill did vacate the belts. They never did drop them, so The Machines run lasted for about a year. They only defended them 7 tiles from the start of 08 through the end of July. The current champions are Sammy Bach and John Anderson. They've defended them three times, all against the duo of Freddy Huggins and Ronnie V. Pain (aka The Last Stand). The size difference isn't always decisive... but when you have a "flippity floppity" guy (love TK's term) against a big main eventer, its going to be a factor. I do have plans for Bart Biggz, they are just slower developing than I expected. Brett Biggz is another matter... And thanks about the A*. That excited me way more than it should have...

Damn, an A* show with that kind of show?! Impossible! (joke) In any case, good show. That's pretty disappointing of Mainstream Hernandez and Enygma though. I swear I have gotten a better rating with those two against each other before. I could have definitely see the Art Reed/Kurt Laramee one ending up like that, though. Besides, Bart Biggz has potential. I hate when people puts in him the same category as Brett Biggz. Bart Biggz's Performance Skills are MUCH better than Brett's. Saying that, Bart Biggz will probably do better in TCW than in SWF. He doesn't exactly have the mic skills or acting (but which he can improve) to make in SWF. And in my opinion, it looks he's actually just a bit shy of couple of pounds to make it as a Middleweight. (Bart Biggz reminds me of as a less talented Matt Hardy). By the way, is Bart Biggz STILL using the "Cruiserweight" Style? That might actually explain why your plans are developing slowly. He's not actually that good of a cruiserweight. He's not bad, but it's not his strength.

There's been a couple of shows where I booked them thinking "man, this has to be close to getting that A*"... and those are usually the B+ shows. This one, I was hoping for an A and figuring B+ was more likely... Wasn't bad chemistry in either of the D+ matches - I test enough that I usually manage to avoid it. I think Enygma and Hernandez was just a matter of overness and momentum. Enygma is an Upper Midcarder, but a weak one, at just C/C+ at this point, plus his momentum was only about C. I've had a few other disappointing matches - think I had a D- between Bart Biggz and Akima Brave a couple months back that I just didn't really understand either... Bart Biggz has a ton of potential. He is still a cruiserweight at this point. He is intended to be a main part of the Sky Club Division, which unfortunately hasn't received much focus in recent weeks. That should change. Brett Biggz needed a month in development at the start of the game just so I could use him without the fans showering him with hatred. He's really only around because of his tag experience and his relationship with Bart. I will try to avoid firing him because of that relationship and just hope his deal comes up before too long so I can let it expire.

Bah. I was tickled pink reading that your almighty SWF got some "D" level matches, only to be crushed when you ended up with an "A*" regardless. I'm not sure why, but I seem to want you to slip up somehow. Jealousy I expect :)

Especially when so many other diary writers are working with promotions that are actually a true challenge to book, whereas the only real challenge at this point for my SWF is trying to juggle the amount of talent I have accumulated. If you want to see things fall apart, you could try talking me into resigning and pushing Big Smack Scott. Or trying to turn Dusty Bin into the world champion...

Just short of two years, Tommy Cornell's epic reign with the TCW World Heavyweight championship has been ended. It is a run that has defined Total Championship Wrestling through that period, with Cornell building his powerful Syndicate stable to help him retain the belt. It is only fitting that a former member of The Syndicate was the one to end the reign. While many expected it to be Wolf Hawkins, it was instead Sam Keith who cleanly pinned Tommy Cornell in the center of the ring to claim the belt. Yes, the same 47-year old Sam Keith who held the SWF World Heavyweight Championship four times. The match was the main event of tonight's TCW Destructive Energy that took place at the Utah Park Reservation. The title change already has the wrestling world talking. Buzzing would be a better word. The response is decidedly split, however. While many fans and industry insiders seem to like the idea of the popular veteran getting one last run with the belt, many others question the logic of putting such an important emphasis on a 47-year old who has spoke of retirement in recent months. What does this mean for Total Championship Wrestling? For the American wrestling scene? Only time will tell, but TCW has certainly accomplished one thing - they have been looking again. That's the question that many are asking as the fallout from the month of September is sorted out. There is no doubting it was a great month for SWF. Another A* pay per view highlighted the month, capped with their first A* TV show of the year. Not to mention an A* match between Rich Money and Antonio Marquez. Oh, and then there was the epic return of Sean McFly at Under Control. It was the kind of completely successful month that just reinforces the SWF's position as the primary wrestling promotion in the world. So how could Total possibly affect that? Well, they really didn't. But Sam Keith winning the World Heavyweight Championship from Tommy Cornell at the Destructive Energy pay per view certain had the fans talking. It was a magnificent comeback in what would have otherwise been a forgettable month. After getting Total Wrestling back on the air, TCW put on a series of lackluster shows, ranging from C to B-. The pay per view has been given an initial B+ grade, with the match between Cornell and Keith grabbing an A. It was a very solid show, but the road back to National status will be tough for TCW. USPW maintained the status quo they have established. The shows put on by Sam Strong's promotion ranged from C to B-. The big news was Bruce the Giant claiming the USPW World title from James Justice in Week 2 at United States of Pain! The independent scene was quite even keeled this month past. The best show put on was MAW The Clash as it earned a C grade. Everything else - CZCW Reach for the Sky, FCW Suicide Solution, PSW Pride Before Fall, NYCW In or Out, and even RIPW Fire Mountain - all earned D+ grades. The only real news of note was Big Smack Scott retaining the Coastal Championship. In worse news, FREEDOM Caribeen Wrestling dropping from Regional to Local size and look to be in some degree of trouble.
Canada
The big story out of Canad was the departure of Sean McFly from North of the Border Pro Wrestling. The American superstar returned to SWF, where he first became a star. The good news for the Stone family was the return of the promotion's Championship Wrestling to television. The month was a typical series of solid shows, all ranging somewhere in the B grades. CGC gained no ground on the Stone's, but didn't really lose any either. A B- grade for their Last Man Standing pay per view was offset by episodes of Title Bout Wrestling that graded out in the C's consistently. The only title change was Nate Johnson claiming the CGC Canadian title. The DeColt family got some good news when Jack DeColt signed a contract extension. 4C stayed in business and put on a show. Many might say that makes for a successful month for the lightweight of the Canadian promotions.
Mexico
South of the Border Pro Wrestling put on a solid series of shows through the month. Most were C+, with one C and one C-. The biggest news was El Demonio taking the Campeón de Mundo from Pablo Rodriguez. The Campeón de Menor was won by Junior Youth. OLLIE lacked the consistency of SOTPW, with shows ranging from C+ down to D. There were no title changes for the promotion. MPWF was a bit more consistent, with shows staying in the C- and C area, but again, with no title changes. Mexican Hardcore Wrestling continued to show they belong with the Lucha Libra Big Three by putting on another month of solid shows. The shows ranged from D+ to C+. Many industry insiders felt such a promotion could not survive in Mexico, and they are currently looking like fools.
United Kingdom
The status quo continued in the United Kingdom, with no promotion likely to challenge the SWF's claim of being the biggest wrestling promotion in the region. 21st Century Wrestling put on a series of mediocre shows, with Men of Steel Combat doing similar. The show of the belonged to Ring of Fire's High Voltage, which earned a C+ grade.
Japan
The big news as the month of August ended was former Japanese wrestling giants Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods removed Haurki Kudo from the Head Booker position. He was replaced a few days later by Tasuku Shimozuka, the infamous fire-breather who has worked for a few different promotions in his time. Some of the BHOTWG pure bloods may question the appointment. Especially as he made little initial impact in terms of results. Burning Hammer's Love to Burn Tour saw the promotion put on a series of C and C+ rated shows, with one lone A show in Week 3 standing out. Shimozuka certainly made an impact in terms of titles. Most of the promotions titles changed hands through the month of September. Chuichi Sanda became the Burning World Champion for the first time in Week 2, taking the belt from Yasuhiko Taira. White Samurai laid claim to the Burning Openweight Championship for the second time in his career. The Burning Junior Tag Team belts were won by the duo of Snap Dragon and Shirai Yanagawa. One that certainly delighted fans was Elemental III winning the Burning Junior Championship for the first time. It was a solid month for Golden Combat Grappling, as Japan's other traditioned promotion put on a series of shows rated in the B- and B range, including a solid B+ show in Week 3. The only title change was Yasuhide Tayama winning the GCG Openweight Championship. 5 Star Supreme Wrestling continued to put on solid shows, ranging from C to B+ on their Wrathchild Tour. WEXXV was also on tour, putting on decent enough shows for the garbage wrestling they promote. Pride Glory Honor Wrestling and INSPIRE were both on break for the month of September. PGHW did manage to give fans some good news as they resigned both Lee Bennett and Buddy Garner.
Australia
The big news out of Australia this month was APW hitting Regional size, according to TEW's complex index. The promotion put on a decent show in Week 3, drawing in a sell-out crowd of 1,000 to Fuster Halll for Coming Home 2008. It is an important step for Australia Pro Wrestling as they try to survive in the harsh Aussie climate. Of course, the reality is that they have no competition at the moment, that hasn't kept previous attempts afloat.
Retirements + Events
No big names stepped away from the business this month. The most noteable retiree was 46-year old veteran brawler Whistler. A survivor of the East Coast Wars, Whistler was working for both PSW and NYCW when he decided to hang up his boots. Three female wrestlers - June Butler, Seiko Nnami, and Junko Hayakawa all stepped away from the business to little fanfare.

Random thought of the day... just how wrong is it to take pleasure in someone else's mistake? There was a stunned silence in the room... Then it absolutely erupted. It was a surreal moment in so many ways. Right after the initial roar, everyone quieted down again. Everyone had the same thought - it didn't really just happen. Yes, we all just saw Sam Keith pin Tommy Cornell clean in the center of the ring, but we were waiting for the work. Was it a fast count? A Devastator Finish? Was some authority figure about to come out and reverse the decision? We waited, but the other foot never dropped. Cornell stayed in character, arguing in the ref and sneering, but he just stomped out of the ring. When Keith was handed the TCW World Heavyweight Championship and held it up to the crowd, the room roared along with the live crowd. If only all those internet smarks could see this... a room full of SWF workers watching a TCW pay per view and screaming their d*mned fool heads off. Christian Faith wore a monster grin and Double E just kept repeating "I don't believe it" over and over. The Keith twins were the most excited, hugging and high-fiving everyone within reach like a couple of kids... that wasn't fair - they are kids. And who could blame them for being excited? The location was Faith's house. He had a big spread and a tolerant wife. There was more than two dozen of us there. The number would have been higher but a lot of workers were out on the road. This was the second month in a row that Faith had invited us over, and I was pretty sure that he was doing it not only with Richard's blessing, but probably his encouragement. The logic I'd been given was sound - since a lot of people were going to watch it anyway, might as well gather a lot of them together in one place and only add one "buy" to the total for Total. It felt a bit odd to be watching the match with the Keith boys. They had been asked by TCW and their father to attend the pay per view, but Eisen had told them no. They took it pretty professionally for being so young. I had to think they knew their father was going to take the belt, but they hid it well if they did. Their reaction belied nothing. Given how long Sam had been with the Supreme Wrestling Federation and how much he had meant, it was not surprising to see the reaction around the room. He and Faith had put on wars against each other. He helped train Eric. Sam's booking had been a big reason that Greg and Benny - aka Benson and Bling - had been allowed to shine and got over the wins when the joined. Even those who had never worked directly with Sam had been influenced by his style. I wore a smile and I celebrated with everyone, but it was false. I couldn't help but look at this from a booking side and it was a mistake. Since the breakup of The Syndicate a few months ago, Cornell had been feuding with both Sam Keith and his former protege Wolf Hawkins. Everyone was waiting to see who he would drop that belt to after he held if for nearly two years. Despite the hype for the main event of the Destructive Energy pay per view, no one really expected Keith to win. The pay off was obvious - it was a feel good story. The reaction of both the crowd and the "fans" in that room with me proved that. The 47-year old legend had given so much to the business, so it was great to see him get one more run. The match had been very good as well. Not quite an all-time classic, but as good as anything TCW had offered of late. The two men went for close to 40 minutes, and Cornell fought out of the Proton Lock three times. It seemed for sure that it was over when Cornell went for his Rough Ride, but Keith managed to counter his way out of it by using the ropes, and he ended up using Cornell's own finisher before getting the pinfall. Great closing sequence. Well booked. But after the match and the crowed reaction, where did this leave Total Championship Wrestling? With a 47-year old champion. From a booking perspective, there were so many problems with that. Keith is a physical anomaly, still able to go incredibly well for a man his age. But he has slowed down. He's not the same guy he was five years ago. And everything changes when you are champion. Suddenly the pressure is on to carry every match and every show. Could Sam still do that? My suspicion was that it would be a relatively short reign. A "thank you" title win before he dropped it someone else. Likely one of the younger guys on the roster - Hawkins, Minnesota, Law, or even Bach. But if they idea was to get the World Heavyweight title onto one of the new generation of TCW stars, why not have Cornell drop the belt to them? It would mean so much more, a symbolic passing of the touch. Instead, if it does happen, it happen from a legend who is in TCW for one last run and will forever be associated with the Supreme Wrestling Federation. In terms of pure growth potential, TCW frightens me. If they could ever truly figure out what they are doing, they could give us a real challenge. Part of how they could do that would be to build a new generation of stars. The likes of Cornell, RDJ, and Rahn have carried Total for a long time now, but you have to give the fans something new at some point. Hawkins is a true main eventer, but he's going to remain in Cornell's shadow until he cleanly beats his mentor. Bach, Minnesota, and Law aren't at the point now where they can carry a pay per view... and they should be. They have the talent and the charisma to be at the top by now. I know part of the reason that Golden and Tornado wanted out is they felt they were going to float along at the same level for awhile. From the stories I hear, its backstage politics and the veteran guys not wanting to lose their positions. I can't imagine that those younger guys on the roster would be as thrilled to see the 47-year old get the belt that one of them could be holding. Another reason I question the title change decision is the fact that the Keith twins were watching the show with me at Faith's house. I don't know that TCW would even consider something like that, but they know that Greg and Matthew chose to sign with the SWF, with their father's blessing. From the perspective of a neutral fan, how is it going to look when one promotion has the aging father as their world champion and the other has his two teenage kids competing for the tag belts? In my mind, it would likely come across as dad's not good enough for us anymore... even if he is for them". As I thought through all of this, I thought through something else - why can't I just enjoy the moment? Why do I have to look at this through the eyes of a booker? Have I been that thoroughly corrupted? That is a frightening thought... Monday, Week 1, October 2008 Avatar

I'm a bit surprised that no one even had a comment about Sam Keith winning the TCW World Heavyweight championship... I thought it was awesome, to be honest. It just give me two segments to work with, so its great from a diary perspective, too. Also, don't forget to vote for the Diary of the Month. Make sure to stop by the DOTM threads and cast a vote for a diary. Any diary you happen to enjoy - whether its this one or any other. Just vote. The great work that so many great writers put on this board is impressive, and they deserve the recogntion. Once again, its just an honor to get nominated and be up with so many other great diaries.

Two-time SWF World Heavyweight champion Runaway Train agreed terms on a new contract extension. The 43-year old has been a major player in the SWF since 2000. His role has been reduced gradually since his last title reign was ended in August 2007 by Jack Bruce. He currently spends most of his time working as an enforcer for "Double E" Eric Eisen. The menacing 6'9", 350 pound remains popular with the fans, however, and seems to enjoy the current role. Though it is uncertain whether leaving the Supreme Wrestling Federation was ever considered as an option by Train, sources have indicated to SWF.com that the big man did receive a "substantial offer" from a "promotion up North" when his contract expired. SWF fans will be happy that the former champion decided to stay loyal and stick with the promotion that made him into an international star. I was going to post about Keith yesterday, but I was forced off before I could finish it. Pretty gutsy move on the account of TCW, I guess they saw the need to take a risk in the position they're in. I actually thought of doing a One Last Run reign for Keith myself, but I was at Global.. :P

Hawkins, RDJ, even Shawn Gonzalez once (unique situation). But I don't know that I've seen him drop to Sam Keith before. Old Sam often retires by the summer of 2008. The fun part is that it makes for a really interesting dynamic in the diary... Dad the champ in TCW while the kids are making their debut in Supreme... After the tease at the last PPV, I was going to wait until their full debut in a few weeks to reveal that I had indeed signed them. But after the Sam Keith thing, I figured a Random Thoughts segment was a fun way to do it, too.

Well BP42, you keep kicking ass. I have given up trying to catch up (57 pages is no picnic), but when I do pop in to read some of the updates they never fail to impress. The latest Avatar piece is exceptional, even if I am kind of rooting for Keith. I would even say that the fact that he's champ, and the kids are going for the tag belt elsewhere just means that 1) they have exceptional genes and 2)the old man can still go. And I guess 3) maybe they want to get the belt on Hawkins (or someone else) without them having to fight Cornell. Kind of like Big Show taking the belt off Lesnar so that Angle could get it the next month, leaving Lesnar vs Angle for a bigger moment. Then again, it's the AI, so who knows where it will go. But the scene of watching the PPV was great. I could imagine reading that in a book or something.
