Bigpapa42, Regis, and foolinc all pick up complete predictions here. As such, they'll be receiving a box set of all three PPVs to date on VHS...
High fives all around! :D And I marked out for Danny Patterson. Always wanted him to be huge in NEO, but without TV and PPV it's kind of hard to do that without pissing off the whole roster.
And I marked out for Danny Patterson. Always wanted him to be huge in NEO, but without TV and PPV it's kind of hard to do that without pissing off the whole roster.
Good to know! Danny's going to be undergoing a baptism of fire over the next few shows - at the moment we're going through a little quandary over cuts to the roster. I don't want to cut people with potential, but if you can't deliver in some fashion right now, you're kind of a liability...

It just sounds stupid when you say it out loud. “Most wrestling companies are owned by people who grew up in and around the business to whatever level. They used to wrestle, or they worked as a ref, or something. “They started out smartened up, and they understood the way the business has always worked. Broadly speaking, without wanting to kick off any arguments about playing politics, a guy who's got over is happier helping his friends draw than anyone else, unless he sees real potential in the youngster.” He smiles. “I was lucky enough Micky Starr saw potential in me way back when... “But it happens. The right friendship will take anyone to the top – though pretty much no one stays there without something they can do that lets them draw on their own. And if you're in a position to do it, if it don't hurt business, you cut a buddy a break. Everyone knows that and everyone accepts that. “J.K. wasn't part of the business growing up, but he'd given me pretty free reign. And I...” He laughs. “Here's what's going to sound stupid. There's no way to say this without that happening, but all I can say is back when it happened it made sense. “We got used to J.K. not butting in, not interfering, and you came to think he was just viewing us as an investment. You forgot he was actually interested in the product, but he invested in wrestling because he was a wrestling fan. “Which was fine when he was just watching us. “And then Andy and Horatio got onto American Option, and after a while he actually caught the ads – they were doing virtually no promotion. So he finally checks them out...” Strong shakes his head. “He was pissed that they were making money partly off us. I tried to point out that if it hadn't been the Golden Age it would have ended up with probably a pretty similar faction and the same guys, and that this was keeping our buzz going in the half a country we weren't on TV...” A shrug. “I gotta admit, they got more benefit than we did. He gave me an ultimatum. “See, at the time, the Demons were our tag champs. Cowboy Ricky had the International belt. And I'd given the Wrestling Spirit belt to Rich. “He told me that I could keep one of them with a belt, but that only one of them got it. “And he made them choose.”

Not my style. “Time for the next battle.” Reaching behind him, he undoes the Maximum Championship, holding it aloft by one strap. “You guys hunting me – this is your chance. Any one of you can come for this now. “You wanna hurt me, this is how you do it.” He lays the belt out on the canvas before him, a line in the sand. “Who thinks they can do it?” Their Law fires up mere moments later, and Charlie Thatcher emerges, for once not at full speed, stalking down to the ring, taking his time, obviously more prepared – and consequently, more dangerous. PPPW Maximum Championship vs. w/ Human Arsenal © vs. Charlie Thatcher w/ Helen Bach The last time these two met, Arsenal squeaked out a victory despite Thatcher's onslaught. This time, Arsenal seems a lot more ready for him, helped by the fact he manages to dodge the lightning-fast lariat Thatcher tries to open with and doesn't begin the match with a staggered, dizzied head. In fact, this time the Arsenal has Thatcher in hand, it seems, avoiding by very close shaves most of his assaults, blunting the others, and taking the fight back to him. He's got Charlie doubled over and set up for the Ammo Dump when he glances across, seeing Helen on the apron keeping Fair's attention, then abruptly releases the hold, dropping and rolling backward as Thatcher straightens up - Thatcher takes the Ninja Strike full in the face. Ota immediately swivels, ducks the Arsenal's punch, and takes him down with a Russian leg sweep, measures for the buzzsaw kick, and then sees who's just entered the ring. A leaping lariat from Ricky Dale Johnson knocks Ota clear of the ring and Johnson follows; Arsenal beats Thatcher back to his feet, punishing him with an Ammo Dump for the pinfall before getting clear – no chance at a counterattack. Human Arsenal defeated Charlie Thatcher Rating: C- Back from commercial we see Man Mountain Cahill sat in the locker room looking out impassively, a CD player balanced on one knee, headphones cutting him off from the world. Herb Stately moves into shot, a look of genuine concern on his face, and Cahill removes the headphones for a moment. A tinny-sounding snatch of Vitamin by Incubus emerges from them as Cahill looks on, silent. “Ronnie,” Herb says nervously. “You're doing another Corner tonight, aren't you?” Cahill nods. “Don't,” Stately returns, a note of genuine urgency in his voice. “It won't go well, man. I – she's pushed me to -” He falters. “I told someone I shouldn't have what was going on, Ronnie, told him what she did. “I still... You're still my friend, man. All that time we worked together, she shouldn't take that away. “And I don't want to see what he'll do to you.” Cahill looks at him steadily, impassively. Herb waits for some sign – any sign – that Cahill has registered this, and the Man Mountain gives nothing. Edgily, Stately vanishes. And Ronnie Cahill lifts the headphones back onto his ears. w/ vs. 'Boy Wonder' Sammy Bach w/ Helen Bach vs. Pistol Pete Hall This one is almost total destruction on Hall's part, as Bach once again finds himself almost bounced around the ring, getting in very brief spurts of offence against the former champion. But that happened to Sammy in his last match, and he won that one after his sister intervened with a hard forearm shot. Once again, she goes for it. And the first time, Hall is unprepared, and staggered, and a Sammy Bach who never saw the interference nonetheless uses that to land the Bach Off superkick. Hall kicks out and goes back to the match. And once again, Helen hits him – but this time, Pete's ready. He grins – a wide, brutal, ornery grin, vicious – and turns around and takes Sammy Bach's head off with the Pistol Whip Lariat. At that point, the cover's a foregone conclusion. Pistol Pete Hall defeated Sammy Bach Rating: D Bluegrass Blues hits, and it's clearly time for Cahill's Corner. Barber and Azaria seem keyed up for this one following earlier developments, and as Emma Chase leads her client to the ring the crowd is silent, anticipatory. The Man Mountain looks on, impassive, as Herb Stately scurries down the entrance ramp to watch. Chase gives him an amused wave, then plucks the Corner contract from her cleavage, because there just wasn't enough alliteration in a segment called Cahill's Corner beforehand. “It's a pleasure to have some spectators here up close,” she coos, “but as ever, it will change nothing. “I'd like to congratulate tonight's participant on at least having some balls – we don't always get any applications, as you know, and we virtually never get more than one. And one's all we got tonight. “So step up and try your luck...” she unfolds the contract, looking for the name, “...Danny Patterson!” Azaria sputters on commentary and a behemoth vaults the guardrail and slides easily into the ring. “It's him!” Barber yells excitedly. “I know – I did my research,” Jason Azaria replies. “Now, here's a little fact you may not know; this young lad's been wrestling for some years in Britain and just looking for an opening in Ame- whoa!” Cahill, unimpressed as the huge Patterson goes nose to nose, has opened with a headbutt, and Patterson's head barely moved. The massive Brit smiles and returns fire with an uppercut, and Cahill, too, isn't rocked. Faced with two giants, the crowd roar like they're watching a European promotion run by a Greek. And, moments later, the brawl is on in earnest. Whoever's doing Philly Pro production introduces, for the first time, a split-screen, with one staying on the two seemingly invulnerable powerhouses while the other cuts between the reactions of Chase and Stately, both of them rapidly worried when a Patterson headbutt splits Cahill's forehead open, the blood seeping through the white skull design – and Cahill rapidly returns the favour with a roundhouse punch to the temple. At the traditional six-minute mark introduced as a cutoff by Stately, both men are clearly feeling the effects of the other's assault, but they aren't stopping. Patterson suffers the Cahill Crunch and is back on his feet within ten seconds, offering a brutal release powerbomb – identified by Azaria as the Bomb from Bow Bells – that sends Cahill three feet forward before he ever hits the mat. Cahill, too, rises to his feet again. “Ronnie,” Chase calls, clearly worried, “that's enough. Come on.” And the Man Mountain, for the first time, ignores her, returning to the brawl. “Dammit, Ronnie,” Stately barks. “Get out!” Maybe that's what does it, or maybe it's another punch to the bleeding forehead from Patterson – but Cahill retreats, eyes locked on the giant Brit all the way back, no trace of fear on his face. Patterson regards him with the same expression as Herb Stately awkwardly joins him in the ring. Glancing toward Stately, he grins – and his tongue snakes out, licking some of the blood from his chin. w/ vs. Rich Money & Fumihiro Ota w/ Floyd Goldworthy vs. Ricky Dale Johnson & Human Arsenal A surprise return to the ring from the Arsenal tonight as Johnson's mystery partner, as Azaria and Barber speculate on whether Johnson had planned that or whether the Arsenal had agreed following Johnson's rescue. It's a good solid tag match the whole way through, with Money and Arsenal the most active on either side, though Money and Ota pull off a surprising number of quick, polished double-team moves. Neither, however, has the raw power of Ricky Dale Johnson, who in the end – as the time dwindles almost to nothing – plants Ota with the Southern Justice to score the win. Johnson will be able to name a third entrant into the Tri-State Championship match. Ricky Dale Johnson & Human Arsenal defeated Rich Money & Fumihiro Ota Rating: C- A return to form in New England reassures the Philly Pro fans that better is to come. I always like how short and contained your shows are. A handful of characters, with just a few matches and skits. Compared to some of the more sprawling diaries, it's a nice, easy read. Reminds me of ECW... or when Impact was only an hour. Thumbs up.

I've got an hour to play with here, and realistically, I don't think it's worth trying to squeeze much more in than I do.

The Demon, not the emotion – though that was kind of in there, too. “For one thing, it meant that we were going to feel horrible if we cost a guy who hadn't done anything wrong his title. Except...” He shrugs. “We didn't feel we'd done anything wrong. I still don't. “We were given a job to do; take this angle, take these characters, and get them over. Get yourselves over. Sell tickets. Sell Pay-Per-Views. Persuade people to tune in when your company is on TV. “Make people care. That's the bottom line. When I go out there with Remo, when I call out whoever they have me calling out – Lobby, Christian Faith, Jack Giedroyc, or whoever – my job is to make people care enough that they'll pay money to see what happens next. Now sure, if I'm calling out Faith my job is a lot easier than if I'm wrestling Jack or even Lobby, but it's the same job no matter what. “We were given our gimmicks, and we went out there and made them hate us, made them love us, whatever was needed – made them care. “And if you don't do it, the job goes to someone else. Maybe Rich Money can afford that – but I can't. Not when I put my belt aside, go home and hang my suit in the closet. “To make matters worse, Anger had friends in the dirtsheets and the rest of us didn't – yet. He told the papers the whole story, saying that the deal was struck, before we'd gotten anywhere near agreement. Added a whole thing about how he was the most important player in the most important stable in Philly Pro...” He shakes his head. “He was a major player, I can't deny that, but I think that if he hadn't been there Brent, Angry, or RDJ coulda carried the company. Pete, too. “Anyway, Mr Stallings got wind of the interview and told Sam that that wasn't the way it would go, that Anger and Spite got to lose their belts because of that choice.” He shrugs. “So you have to feel sorry for Spite now. I don't personally believe that what we were sent out to do was wrong, that Sam or Dangerous did the wrong thing. But we had this hand we'd been dealt now. “And I was pretty terrified. Sam was clearly high on RDJ, and Stallings was too. If he lost his belt, he'd have it back pretty soon or get another one. The tag division wasn't strong enough to keep the Demons out of the title picture. “Me, though... I was sitting there with the maybe-a-hopeful belt. Under those circumstances, whether you make it past that or not depends on how happy people are with the first time you hold it. And I hadn't had enough time to establish myself with it. “I remember Anger nearly punched RDJ over the whole argument... Dread happened to be around, though, and you can't ask for a better voice of experience. “The upshot was I lost the Wrestling Spirit belt and I was in the doghouse the rest of the time I was with Hollyweird.” He smiles. “It's not as bad a story as that sounds. Sam felt sorry for me, Sam remembered me, a few years on he signed me up to his new stomping grounds. And I finally had my breakout moment and came here...”

The short, concise shows are something I really like about the diary as well. The writing, the chracters, the booking, the era, all of that as well. But after dealing with the jumbled mess that is my SWF game, its nice to read through something that feels so much more streamlined.

I might have more and more complex storylines in your position...
